I myself am that guy you know the one that is a noob but isnt a huge ultramarine fanboy. Im the guy everyone thinks they should learn me everything they can. Especially the tau and dark eldar players. See me as they're protigy. ( I dont know the exact word for it but its something like that.) o who would you be considered

Most noobs aren't Ultramarines fanboys. That's an incorrect stereotype about both new players and Ultramarine players.
I'm definitely an experienced all-around hobby guy, and can talk tactics, painting, modeling, GW history, and what have you. I wouldn't exactly call myself "The veteran" since I've only been playing for about 6 years, and haven't done much in the way of tournaments.

Thanks for the corrections. And the thing was i came in the store the first thing i did was go buy a battlesuit and a codex and the hobby equipment. And in one week i returned i read the codex some 5 times including the fluff and had my battlesuit put together but not painted. My interest in the tau apparently sparked the attention of the tau players and the dark eldar players since all our DA players are or where tau vets.

I'm the guy with the weird lists who wins a lot, but shows you how I beat you and tells you tactics on how to beat me, and how to build lists to fit your theme, not the interpoop's. I guess that's the Grizzled Vet. Russ Wakelin wrote and article about the Phases of a Gamer on Dakka. This part applies to me: In the video game world it's called 'The Glow', the point where you are so into the game that you are one with the experience. This can happen in table top gaming too. It will come one day when you play a great, close game, have not a single rules argument, laugh, joke, and lose. And when you do lose, you still realize that that was a VERY enjoyable couple hours of gaming. Most players can not get to this state until they have a good sized tourney or league win under their belts. By achieving this victory, the hungry veteran reckons that he has proven himself, and can now pull back a little, experiment, and not worry about winning so much. He's played enough games to know that he can still win even if his exact understanding of the rules are not followed. He also knows it can be fun to try out new units and list types, even if they are not considered the wisest choice. To watch two 4c gamers play is to watch a story unfold on the table top, and if don't look carefully it will be hard to notice that rules are being followed at all. Phase 4c gamers are always fun to play against, and can usually be found offering friendly advice to their opponents during the game, and will intentionally try weaker, more experimental lists when playing rookie players. It should be noted that while it is usual for Phase 4c to be achieved via a major victory, this is not always the case. Some players, while deep in Phase 3, will have a utopian game (usually against a Phase 4c player) and achieve 'The Glow' prior to ever gaining that 'big win.' In these cases players can sometimes progress right to phase 4c without a tourney/league win under their belt. In many ways this is a more admirable feat. Full article can be found here.

I'm the "noob" who knows the rules better than the "veteran" players in my league. It is incredibly frustrating. They assume that they are right because they've been playing for a long time and they instantly assume I'm wrong since I've been playing for a short period of time. In the past few weeks I've had huge debates with "veteran" players and had to teach them simple things like:
1) allocate wounds before rolling to save if the unit has mixed wargear
2) passengers cannot shoot from a vehicle if it moved faster than combat speed. "Open topped" and "fast" do not change this.
3) passengers with heavy weapons cannot shoot from a moving transport at any speed
I'm borderline done with my league because of it. Even when they ultimately see my reasoning, they get all sulky and short tempered. Its not my fault that a "noob" knows the rules better than they do.

I'd be "the guy that can't roll above a 1 for Armour penetration with Railguns" for 40K. Don't know about WHFB, haven't played too many games of it at my local store yet. Most recent one was when I tabled the managers Ogres with my Dark Elves by achieving total magic dominance, so I guess I could be "The guy who blows up half the board with templates, not caring whether they're from spells or miscasts" So I occasionally use 12 dice to cast 1 spell? Not exactly sure how else you'd classify me. Been playing 40k for about 3 years with my kids. Main thing for me was using it to teach them how to win (or lose) gracefully. Yes, you want to WIN!! But yes, you also want to have fun regardless of the outcome, otherwise what's the point? That's probably how I got to 4c.

Dunno. I might be "the weirdo", or "the noob", or probably "the weird noob".
I'm best known for running unconventional lists, which some people laughed at when I started playing there. Then they realized I actually had a strong understanding of tactics, and that I built my lists to counter the traditional cookie-cutter lists that a lot of people play. I get a little more respect now, and there are a few specific people that will come check out my games for a while when I play, but I still haven't memorized enough of the LRB to play without referring to it several times. Most people are cool with that because I apparently keep things interesting.
If you go by that list posted by Chowderhead, I'm somewhere between phases 2-3 by my estimate.
I can easily see myself becoming a rules lawyer, but not in the TFG kinda mindset.

At my wargaming club people say I do the best paintjobs; but they're not much above tabletop standards. I'd say I am greatly assisted by the fact that most people painted their armies when they were young or don't put much time into their work.
But when it comes to gaming? I am the useless noob. This is despite me having 'played' for three years. I really do just prefer painting. My skills are so bad that when I play GKs, the joke goes around that I must've been the guy who play-tested them and declared them balanced - I am the only person in the world who can possibly lose as GKs
Ofc I think they lend GKs far too much beef, but it's funny nevertheless...

Actually, back when I worked in a game store I was the go-to warhammer guy (nobody else working there knew/knows how to play) so I ran the tourneys, set the comp rules, suggested purchases and what weapons were best served on which squads. Got lots of sales that way, and quite often ran discounts on large purchases that I felt deserved it, then just told the boss after. Something about forgiveness, rather than permission-he always agreed though, so no biggie at the time.

My clubmates and I are only in our 30's, but we're definitely the old-school vets. We're the guys in the corner playing games no one has heard of with figures that most folks have never seen, and no one would ever confuse the laid-back-carnage in our games with "competitive" wargaming.
I've never asked, but regulars would probably think of us in the same group as the weekly FoW gamers. Though we play mostly fantasy and Sci-Fi games, we are most like the FoW gamers in that we only play with painted minis and we aren't in the shop more than once a week. The Warmachines, WFB and 40k, crowds typically are around more often, but only have an average of 1/3 painted minis (I've checked).

I'm the new guy still, not the noob as I am familiar with the rules fairly well, but the new guy in the shop. I'm also apparently the 'nice guy' which I discovered last week at the store when I got several compliments. I'm rather happy that they find me pleasant to be around
