One thing I think is a bit lacking in Infinity is Player fluff. The fluff from CB is great but it doesn't let itself as much to coming up with background for your own group. I don't think it's impossible though. So here is the fluff I have so far for my Yu Jing. It needs a bit more information and I'm going to work on a leader/character for them.
Kudos to anyone who can figure out where I got the names from.
If you have some of your own fluff please put it here.
The Shangri-la Peace Force
Situated in the picturesque Jungle mountains of the planet of Paradisio, in Yingxian province, is the city Chenling, "New Shangri-la." Chenling was an attempt by the Yu Jing government to create utopia. Most believe it was created just to show the other powers on the planet the engineering prowess of Yu Jing by building the beautiful city in nearly inaccessible mountains and jungle. It was called New Shangri-la by PanOceanic critics and the name has stayed with it as unofficial name of the city. This is probably because of the high number of Buddhist temples. The city is was created with modern technology but with old traditional styles. One temple uses stone imported all the way from the Himalayan mountains on Earth.
Paradiso is a planet that has been contested by the powers nearly since it's discovery. It was also the main theater for the Neo Colonial Wars. Paradiso is a fertile planet, and according to terrestrial parameters, lush to excess. The city is a bit isolated because of this. The best way to the city is by air but there are a few roads that are well maintained by the Deforestation Service.
So far the attempt to create utopia has met with more success than failure but it is still far from a utopia. New Shangri-La quickly became the new Yu Jing religious center with temples to Taoism, Buddhisim, Confucian, and other religions. But the traditional Chinese religions predominate. The main defense for the city is the Shangri-la Peace force. Though policing is the main concern for them, they have always had a military bent due to earlier conflicts with other factions on Paradiso. For the last few years the city has had problems with Haqqislam illegal drug traffickers and Nomad arms dealers using their city as a way point to other parts in the Yu Jing Empire. It's also a good place to hide because of it's isolation. Some have said that peace in the city has been created with a heavy hand but of course they are only dissenters.
Currently the city has come under attack by the Combined Army. A few of the aliens known as the Shasvastii have infiltrated the city have caused damage to infrastructure and killed many citizens. Some of the religious temples have even participated in the defense of the city. Particularly the Shaolin and New Wu Tang Taoist temples. They have been a great help using both their traditional close combat weapons as well as cutting edge technology.
Special Unit "Golden Spear", is charged with finding and eliminating the alien threat. The unit is made up of the best men and women in the Shangri-la Peace Force as well as others from Yu Jing provinces on Paradiso.
Unit command has been given to the Hsien, Lee Jun-fan. A tireless and well respected commander. He's subordinates are: Crane Rank Agent, Chan Kong-sang and Pheasant Rank Agent, Li Lianjie.
Supporting the commander is the Eight Invincibles: He Xiangu, Cao Guojiu, Tieguai Li, Lan Caihe, Lü Dongbin, Han Xiang Zi, Zhang Guo Lao, and Zhongli Quan.

Cool fluff CDK, i enjoyed reading it. I wrote down an idea for a Caledonian army when i first got into Infinity. I've now decided to do a normal Nomad list first then paint the Caledonians for fun. Here is a little taste of the idea: Clan Thomson Clan Thomson is a particularly feral Caledonian clan, feral being the operative word. Far from making pariahs of the dog-hybrids, this clan embrace and actively breed them. It is estimated that the hybrids populate up to 40% of the clan although battle forces can often be up to 100% hybrid. Hybrids born outside the clan are treated even worse than they would be anywhere else in the Sphere. Even the clan hybrids treat them like scum!

Great Idea too. I hope you expand on it.

I'm really wanting to write my own force fluff, but I have yet to come up with anything I like

I found it kind of helps to narrow down what they do or what group they might be. Like say Seal Team 6 or something like that. Because I love Appleseed I immediately thought of a police force. It certainly helped they later came out with the Celestial Guard and the ISS. I at first had the city set on the capital world bu then realized there would not be much opportunity for conflict with other Factions. Looking at the map in the rule book of Paradiso shows that the world has many factions controlling a part of it. Plus it's where the Combined army is fighting as well.

That actually helps a little, thanks!
Just a little question, does the Rulebook (or books) contain a lot of fluff? I've ordered the first rulebook and I'm kinda curios to what is in it.
If it does contain some fluff, then I'll probably read that before deciding on anything.

@CDK - Haha, yeh you were the guy that got me back on track after all the list advice had removed me from my original idea! I am very grateful! I'm looking forward to going back to them after the Nomads and just painting the models instead of worrying about playing them in a proper list. I have big plans for special characters like my Clan Chief who is a wise old Dog Warrior with a huge sword.
@ CF - The two rulebooks are pretty much the sole source of fluff, you won't be disappointed.

Post by: CDK
I'd say a good half of the book is fluff. First each faction and troops and then general universe stuff.
@ CL: Ya it was great stuff. One thing on a fluffy force you sometimes have to make a sacrifice in things like points or SWC. Ya Lt. is 2SWC but then you have a cool force for it!

This is mine so far. Corregidor Nomads 'Hellions' Strike Team Beta. The second team selected to take part in the initiative, under the commander of Major Alison Channing aka Hellfire. Strike Team Initiative A selection of hardened Corregidor operatives, brought together as mercenary units that will hire themselves out to any task in the Human Sphere. They will not complete any mission that would compromise the Nomad fleet and are directly under the command of the Corregidor leadership. They use their missions as a cover travelling system to system to collect data, data that would not be possible to get hold of, if not hired to be there by unsuspecting foreign Companies. To this end, the Strike Teams have some of the best Hackers available and have already managed to gleam some key information in their short operational window. There are six teams in the initiative, although only three are on active duty outside the fleet, Alpha, Beta and Epsilon. All six have their own Mercenary name that they use for all communications outside the Corregidor command and of course outside that section of the ship, the Strike Team Initiative does not exist. Working on the actual team members at the mo. With a game scale so small, I can go to town on the actual team members as well.

Cheers, done a few so far, still ironing out how it looks, when I've got it all together, I'll be posting it in my P&M thread. Current team Mobile Brigada with multi-rifle - Maj. Alison Channing [f] 'Hellfire' "Watch the corners Quickswitch, you get us fragged again and I'll bring an end to your service record myself. Hammer, Longshot you've got the back door, we'll try and keep the runaways friendly." Alison Channing, is young for a command such as this, only twenty eight, and one of the youngest Majors in the Corregidor forces. When soldiers like Worker are pushing eighty and still looking like a middle aged man, she has to wonder if everyone believes in her as much as she does. Regardless of that fact, and the odd snipe by others in the command, Hellfire got her nickname for a reason. Where she goes, Hell follows with her. Alguacil combi-rifle - Sgt Maj. Charles Wilson [m] 'Worker' "You know that bug in the colony, the one that does everything while the rest shamble on oblivious to hardship. Yeah, that's me." Charles Wilson, a veteran of countless battles for the Corregidor forces, and a whiley one at that. Was placed under the operational command of 'Hellfire' when the Strike Team initiative was rolled out. He is her third in command, and a Sergeant Major in the Corregidor forces. Alguacil combi-rifle (pink hair) - Cpl. Felipe Mendoza [m] 'Gateway' "Hey Hammer, you want me to pull out next time, or is there plenty enough room in there for both of us?" Felipe earned his nickname due to his keen eyes and ability to make an exit on command, it doesn't matter where the team is, if they need to get the hell out of dodge, Gateway will make it so every time. He's also a shameless ladies man, and although he is not stupid enough to make things personal in the Hellions, Alison has often had to send Worker and Hammer, to collect the good Corporal from the local drinking establishment. Alguacil combi-rifle - Pte(T) Jennifer 'Jenna' Jones [f] 'Quickswitch' "Damn it Yuki, next time aim for his chest or something, I don't need to be covered in this Gak right now. Oh feth, we got Pan-O behind, going full auto!" Jenna Jones is a loose cannon, some might say too loose, but shes damn good at what she does and she has survived more scrapes than many would care to remember. She earned the nickname due to her operational awareness, when things start to go wrong, when the ambush comes down upon them, often Quickswitch is shooting at the incoming attackers before the rest of the team has spotted their assailants. Note Jenna was a Lance Corporal, but her actions on a mission on Dawn, got her busted back to Private and almost expelled from the initiative. Alguacil HMG - Sgt. Shianna Jefferson [f] 'Hammer' "Comlink just went down, I'm guessing that means the fun begins!" Sergeant Jefferson has been a part of the Corregidor forces for nearly twenty years. A practised soldier, and a well regarded member of the Alguacil. She proved her skill with support fire and the use of Heavy weaponry seven years into her time. Since then she has proved time and time again she is one of the best close support troopers in front line operations on file on Tunguska. She was a first choice pick for Alpha team, but a broken bone in her foot meant she missed the chance, and was placed in the Beta team as it was formed a few months later. Alguacil Sniper - Lcp. Yuki Hanamada [f] 'Longshot' "His helmet folded like rice paper babe, if you don't like the bits I can always get Loki to pick them out of your hair later." Yuki is a skilled sniper, and has a dry sense of humour that throws many folks off. Felipe often jokes had her great grand parents not moved away from Japan they'd be facing off against her in Yu Jing, to which she just aims her fingers at his head and smiles. Due to her position at the rear of most operations, she is confidant to bring her pet with her onto the field, a small creature she got from Paradiso called Loki.

Just as a word of advice, I think it's best to avoid statements like this in fan fluff, because they're open to clashing with later published material or other fan's fluff. (It's insane how many different characters I've seen that claim the "longest range confirmed sniper kill in the Imperial Guard".) "One of the youngest Majors" is one thing, but I'd steer clear of special snowflake syndrome and not make your character the most special.
Also, I assume the letters in the brackets are meant to be gender. In which case, I think there's one of them you may need to check.

One of the things I got sick about 40k was that everyone, except for Dan Abbnett books, was white and British. They even went out of their way to make Tallarns blond hair and blue eyes.
I love the international feel of Infinity and how you can have troops that have backgrounds from India to Ethiopia to Brazil.

Nothing fancy about my fluff. All Nomads under my control work for BlueDagger the Arms Dealer. I run a network of illegal goods and firearms that resides on each of the Human Sphere worlds. Each of these locations are under diplomatic immunity, so I can't be touched and if anyone gives me guff I have plenty of special forces on my payroll.
I prefer to send out a team of Remotes lead by a hacker and engineer to do my trades. That way if anything goes wrong during I get a chance to test my wares

You have what is known . BlueDagger likes to keep his identity left largely unknown and all business dealings are done through encrypted text transmissions or delegates. Being a Nomad, Aleph would love to have his head and there is plenty of other individuals in the Sphere that would like to bring his ring to justice.
Someone has to supply all your forces with quality weaponry and nano technology.

Please tell me if it is too Mary Sue/not appropriate tech levels or anything else
General background fluff for my Nomad faction, of which I currently have a Nomad all stealth force (representing a covert kill/recovery team):
2160 – Birth of Gao Tsai, the 4th child of a lowly and distant branch of one of the founding cryptohacker families of Tunguska.
Existing on the very edge of Centrum and the Families, Tsai quickly learned just how much of a target she was – not important or worthy enough to be afforded the protection given to those higher and closer to the ruling families and with hundreds of rivals from the myriad of lesser cousins and other relatives, as well as outsiders bent on gaining position and influence she turned her young but incredibly sharp mind to the problem of her own survival.
A talented and intelligent hacker and manipulator even from a young age, Tsai falsified test scores and genetic fingerprinting to ensure that she never stood out and planted false information into the databanks to mislead her peers and superiors about her aptitude for technology and subversion.
2178 - Gao Tsai comes of age. Thoroughly dissatisfied with the corruption she perceived within the Nomad nation, Tsai was assigned (thanks to her long running campaign of data falsification of aptitude testing) to a middle level intelligence oversight position which gave her direct control of a small network of low level classified intelligence assets, but also provides her the protection of a relatively undesirable position.
In the following months she covertly corrupted the intelligence networks of her fellow overseers, re-routing their reports and activities to suit her own ends; infiltrating agents into high technology manufacturing and bioengineering combines throughout the Human Sphere, even installing agents within the labs, cults and communes of Bakunin in her search for something that would enable her to break away from the society she had spent her life hiding from.
2180 – After 2 years running a shadow network of agents within the Nomad intelligence force, Tsai’s agents monitoring a manufacturing covert research station in the asteroid belt in the Acontecimento system (Pan-O factory/farm world) discover scientists have made a breakthrough in creating a truly self replicating Von Neumann manufacturing platform. Acting quickly, a covert recovery team is dispatched to recover the technology and destroy the station and any information it may contain in a way staged to look like the power reactors suffered a critical failure. Now the sole possessor of this technology, Tsai advances her plans to form a break away Nomad sect.
2181 – Tsai’s forces take advantage of the tail end of the Commercial Conflict and the close ties her cells had forged with the Ariadnians to begin seeding Ariadna’s Kuiper belt with Von Neumann harvesting and manufacturing platforms – miniature semi-intelligent factory and mining ships programmed to seek out certain mineral rich asteroids to process into habitats, starship modules and other basic equipment needed for any space faring community to exist. In combination with gene technology from the Bakunin fleshworks the seeds of self-assembling Dyson Trees are planted.
2182 – Tsai’s operation moves to ensure security for the Kuiper belt operations and begin covert recruitment of skilled engineers, hackers, soldiers, operatives, and other personnel dissatisfied with life in the Nomad Nation. With access to secret manufacturing plants capable of autonomously producing a wide range of goods and technologies, Tsai starts building up trade relationships throughout the sphere behind a series of shell corporations to hide both the source and scope of her operations.
2183 – 2185 – Secretly amassing the wealth, resources and personnel, Tsai heads a small army of professional operatives, engineers, hackers and biotechnicians. Numbering almost 200 people dedicated to the new nation, and many others spread throughout shell corporations and in place as part of information networks. Conflicts to keep the operation secret escalate as Tsai’s security forces track down leaks, enemy intelligence operatives and other risks. Tsai also works on acquiring advanced technology to help in her group’s bid for autonomy.

@Morathi's Darkest Sin, SilverMK2: Very inspirational! A touch further than I would have considered going myself I think, so I might have to re-address that. Having said that, I'm waiting on the rulebooks before making final fluff/decisions...
While not a requirement, I find fluff useful for providing direction for modelling and painting - which is making my starting out without it feel a bit concerning - I'm sure I'll manage though...
Keep up the good work!

Post by: SilverMK2
I agree - the fluff helps you form your ideas for the physical tabletop game.
And that is just some general background fluff on the organisation behind my force... will be plenty of fluff about the unit and the soldiers in it coming in as I complete painting things up
C&C is most welcome (I would love for people who have a better knowledge of the Infinity universe to pick it apart, and for everyone else to have a go at it as well ).

@SilverMK2: Wow that's pretty cool. You could even get in some secret connections to Aleph to make it sound like she's a traitor but really she's just using Aleph. Or so she thinks etc.

I've not finished reading through all the faction fluff (I've not read any of the Aleph stuff yet) so there may well be a chance to add some "playing with Aleph" - I do want reasonably strong ties to Ariadna though - I like their underdog (no pun intended ), "wary of the Sphere" position (I also think they will be my second Infinity force as and when I decide to expand ).

Some really interesting stuff here guys. I'll definitely have to get back to my Haqq force fluff.
When I started the game, I wanted to write a short story about my Haqq unit. Ten military prisoners released for a specific, low survivability mission. The idea was shamelessly stolen from the movie "The Dirty Dozen" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061578/ (great movie, btw). The mission was extracting and delivering important piece of information from behind the enemy lines (actually this is very similar to the one of the first scenarios I played). They proved to be very skillful and managed to fulfill their mission. So their superiors decided not to send them back to prison but instead assign them as an escort to one of the trading spaceships. And that's how the journey begins.
Off course this is just rough description. I came up with more details, personal histories and stuff but never really wrote it down.

Looks good to me Silver, still reading the background myself, so mine will evolve as I get more acquainted with the story.

Well right off, Nomads do not like Aleph. They see it as the evil Big Brother. It's not the benevolent AI everyone thinks it is. One of the reasons Nomads are so good with tech is to defend itself against Aleph.
Ariadna is a natural ally to the Nomads. they also want to make sure Ariadna does not make ties to Aleph.
I've made a few changes to mine. Changes in Orange.

Just a quick writeup as I kick around ideas in my head...
The Black Paper Syndicate
Dealing primarily in the process and sale of Silk to customers outside of Haqqislam’s ‘traditional’ sales routes requires loads of information, skill, and a healthy does of luck. Thankfully, this is something that has come naturally to the Black Paper Syndicate. Under the guidance of one man, who goes by the same title as the organization he runs, the Syndicate has carved out a high paying niche in the less-legal Silk market.
Of course, this isn’t something that’s accomplished without more than a little violence. After all, the Silk Road is teeming with pirates and other powers looking to get their hands on a bit of extra Silk. And even that is protected by the might of Haqqislam itself. Black Paper has had to take great care to ensure nobody messes with his shipments, from employing the Djanbazan and expensive (and deadly) Shihab Remotes to the more nefarious usage of Hassassins. Truly, just the threat of a Fiday cutting you down is enough that only the most foolish try and interfere with his operations.
Of course, there’s also different authorities that like to nose into his operations, and he’s come at odds with numerous drug enforcement task forces in his time. For good reason of course, if you’re going to smuggle Silk, why not some designer drugs from the Nomad Nation as well?
Black Paper himself rarely oversees any operations, but when he does, it’s never without his odalisque bodyguards close by. One of the perks of wealth just happens to be gorgeously lethal bodyguards… nothing wrong with that.
56607
Post by: CDK
Really good. Love it. Do you try not to use certain troop types that would not be a part of something like that?
54374
Post by: Chemical Cutthroat
I figured the Hassassins wouldn't... but the more I thought about it, I figured even if they weren't officially 'Hassassin's' then my guy would still have some sort of badass spec-ops assassination guys that he might tap to take out certain targets.
I actually have this cut up into two playable army lists... my Hassassin Bahram force that I'd use on Infiltration, Exfiltration, Assassination, and Black Ops stuff. And then I have the other list as a Qapu Khalqi list that is a lot more up front with the firepower. No tricks, just lots of guns and hate. And a Druze Shock Team.
56607
Post by: CDK
It's pretty easy to justify anything. Like an actual Hafza would not work doing such a thing. But a traitor, or disgraced, Hafza might. There might be something that walks and talks like a Janissary but is really a ????.
54374
Post by: Chemical Cutthroat
Yeah, well a lot of the groups are more mercenary than they appear at first glance. The Djanbazans are REALLY mercenary, which is the bulk of my list really. They're awesome units after all.
Then you have Odalisques... who are mercenary. Then you have some hackers and engineers... all of which work pretty well regardless. And then the Druze.
It's all about the benjamins.

Someone in the "black silk" trade would almost certainly have dirt on anyone who he feels he could get leverage over - even members of some of the more straight laced unit types... or even those who control those units...

@CDK - Nothing specific yet. Nobody and everybody? Guess it really depends on who's buying what at the time.
@Silver - That too, though I'd rather have loyal units as opposed to blackmailed units, that's for sure. But that might work to get some Asawira units on loan...

I actually help run something like that for Inquisitor. It's called Carthax, and it's all set in an eponymous community written Imperial sector. We've got all kinds of interwoven fluff, events and characters, most of which comes from our tabletop games (be they small games with regular gaming groups or our big WHW events), with most of the rest coming from online RP threads or the FFG RPGs.
If there's enough people who were interested in such things, a similar project could be started for Dakka Infinity players, which could offer some degree of narrative to run behind any Dakka Infinity events we might run in future.

I was just reading through some stuff about medals on wikipedia and was reading about Charles Hazlitt Upham (double VC winner - only one of 3 people to have won it twice, and the only person to have done it as a combattant (other two were surgeons who recovered soldiers under fire).
This guy must have had balls of titanium the size of small planets.
The reason that I mention it here is that I really want to use this guy (or reference it) in my fluff - possibly for a future Ariadna army and wondered if anyone else was drawing on historical events or people for their fluff?

Well in a way I have. Since no one seems to know I'll tell you the challenge I gave to figure out the names.
Hsien, Lee Jun-fan = Bruce Lee
Crane Rank Agent, Chan Kong-sang = Jakie Chan
Pheasant Rank Agent, Li Lianjie = Jet Li
I used their real names for my characters.
The Eight Invincible are actually the Eight Immortals of Chinese myth.

I had an idea for my good looking ninjaesque strike force. It isn't much but I need to know if it is plausible fluff-wise (Still awaiting the books )
Here's the basics :
- Used to be a black ops team under the command of a general (or whatever the term is in the fluff).
- Their existence was kept a secret to all but the higher grades.
- The general was the only one that knew how to contact them and he was always the one dispatching their missions.
- All contact with them was lost, right after their last extraction.
- The general deleted all records of the force and then commited suicide. His death is still being investigated.
- They still operate but no idea under who's authority.
- There is a Wu Jing in their rank.
- He feels something has changed but does not dare to speak, fearing for his life.
- Combined Army might be behind this.
What do you guys think ?
Too over the top ? Too cliche ? Would it fit in with the fluff ?

What isn't cliche anymore? lol. It is a bit but still good.
Maybe there could be the influence of a Kempeitai? They are JSA subversives.

I was more thinking along the lines of a completely sepsitorised force.
But I have no idea about the fluff concerning this. Does a sepsitorised one act as normal or does he act weird to others ?
56607
Post by: CDK
Not normal enough. They can still be discovered as being taken over. But it certainly is possible. I think political intrigue and traitors are more interesting that alien mind control though.
In order to identify a troop as sepsitorized, a Discover Roll with a -3 Modifier must be made. A sepsitorized figure cannot be shot at if it has not been previously Discovered. Once Discovered it may be acted against normally for the rest of the battle. A Camouflage Marker is placed beside the sepsitorized figure until he is discovered as such. If the figure performs any other action besides Moving, he is automatically discovered. Sepsitor does not affect figures without a Cube or those with Remote Presence.

Will have to think about something else if sepsitorised persons can't blend well with normal people

It could still happen. I could just be a far more rare version of it or something. Maybe a Gould thingy in him!

Gould ?
What's that ? =P
How do Sepsitors work ? =P
I just liked the fact that as the only one without a cube, the Wu Ming is not affected.
And now he has to choose between
- rolling with this group who might be doing C. Army's dirty work
or
- go to the Imperial Service ( those who removed from him his name ) to denounce the actions of the group

Yeh, to be fair it is a great forum with really nice people. I just find the lack of fluff and conversions unusual. For me they are the most important parts of the hobby, i know many others would agree.

I dunno, Infinity just isn't really conversion material for me. Not being good with Green Stuff puts me at a serious disadvantage in those parts.
Fluff though, you can go crazy with it.

Here is my stab at some fluff,
Task Force Griffin
In response to increasing pressure from PanOceana and YuJing, the Cossak High Command decided to create a black ops force that could operate on Dawn and beyond. The resulting force was call Griffin because like the creature of legend, this force would include soldiers from all over Dawn. Russians, Americans, Merovingian, and Caledonian soldiers where drawn in.
When looking for a leader of this unit, it was decided with much hesitation, lamentation, and bickering, that Captain Van Zant of the 6th Rangers would be put in overall command.
The result has been a success so far with the Van Zant's personality helping to keep the unit together. Made up of 15 permanent members and able to drawn on any Aradina military unit depending on the need of the operation.

I feel like that too. In Warhammer, there's so many things that are changeable, both in fluff and material.
Like, there are a lot of things described that have no model, and perhaps not even any rules. And there's also enough in the world to make things that look like nothing ever done before, without it being too wrong. I'm okay with someone converting up a new kind of tank or something, but someone making a new type of TAG would feel wierd. Or make a "Counts as Cutter" TAG that looks nothing like the cutter would too feel wierd.
And then there's the material. In Warhammer, you always get a lot of bits, and pretty much every plastic model is divided into legs - tors - arm - arm - head, which allows for very easy kitbashing. And being plastic makes it even easier. Infinity OTOH doesn't have the model modularity that Warhammer has. Guns are often part of the arms, heads part of the body... I think you get it.
The part of conversion that suits Infinity best would be modelling stuff on them, like helmets or other gear.... But very few wargamers are capable of modelling themselves, whereas kitbashing is much easier.
Just my two öre.

Why? There's a whole mass of new and experimental AFVs in our own world, and any number of visually different but approximately combat equivalent ones too.
The primary faction in the GrimDark - the Imperium - has all kind of taboos against technological development, almost only ever reproducing specific ancient designs. Such things are not the case in Infinity, and their technology instead marches onwards - so I can't possibly see that the army lists in Infinity represent the entire range of military forces and materiel within the Human Sphere.
And then there's the material.
Really? People have been happily converting metal models for decades, so I find it weird that there's this move towards believing it's somehow difficult. Sure, it's not as easy as plastic, but it's far from difficult - and certainly not impossible.

You're probably right on the first part - I'm not too ace on the Infinity fluff.
But by material, I did not only mean plastic. I've converted metal too, it wasn't too hard. It's more of the modularity of everything, and all the bits you get in every kit that makes the deal for me. In warhammer, if you want a 2HW guy, you just bring out some leftover weapons from your bits box. Odds are the arms will fit too. Infinity dioesn't really give you this. I would love to begin kitbashing Infinity - But there's no leftover heads or leftover weapons to do it with.

Post by: CDK
I think it would help for them to come out with accessory packs for each faction. I doubt it would stop anyone from buying a new figure because they already converted one with those bits.

Ariadna: Task force Spirit: Bravo Team
Three weeks ago Ariadna central intelligence detected an anomaly in data records concerning tesium production and exportation. After further digging it was discovered that someone was skimming away small amounts the ore away from several mines and production plants around the planet. The American's placed several trace markers on many of the shipments several days afterward in an attempt to apprehend those responsible.
The ore shipments where picked up and delivered as planed, at first all unfortunately seemed to be normal until one of the shipments was scanned on an unauthorized Pan O vessel. The ship known as the Kodiak, was a vessel employed by one of the Pan O super-corporations. The Kodiak made dock with the O-12 ring and made jump for Earth before an intercept could be made.
A special operations team was immediately assembled to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice. The primary team was made up members from the Moravian Para Commandos and the 7th "Foxtrot" Rangers. The Americans believed they should be the ones to apprehend the smugglers since they tracked the Kodiak back to its port. Alpha team was dispatched to earth secretly, their weapons smuggled in with the help of the Nomads. After making planet fall they were able to track the Kodiak's shipment to a factory block in Berlin.
The Moravians and Americans observed the factory for day and decided to move on the target that night. Before starting the operation they reported back to Ariadnan command that the factory was producing and Researching new TAG designs and using the Tesium for new highly advanced armors. Alpha team made a move on the factory and shortly afterwords all contact was lost.
The decision was made to send in the back up team. Bravo team had snuck onto Earth with Alpha team, they had been designed to be a far less subtle unit to be deployed in case of increased resistance. Unlike Alpha team Bravo team is made up entirely of troops from the Stanitsas. They are led by 1st Lt. Alexi Bruchev, a veteran from frontier he is stoic beyond reason and it is said he would rather die than retreat. He is joined by his own squad of Kazaks all as hard and well trained as him. The team is supported by two tank hunters, Boris and Yuri, fresh from the Spetsnaz Shkola they are eager to to put their new training to the test, their heavy autocannons were particularly difficult for the Nomads to smuggle in. Bravo team is also accompanied by two scouts Vasili and Dmitri to provide over-watch cover. Expert snipers they've been known to shoot the cigarettes out of the mouths of enemy troops for amusement.
It now falls to Bravo team to discover who exactly is smuggling the Tesium to Pan O, the government itself? or a private company looking to make a name for its self. And, more importantly, to locate and rescue Alpha team

That is great DG. Just want to point out you have a few typos. But I really like the story. You might want to first have the team encounter the smugglers on Ariadna. I'm sure it starts with some Ariadna criminals, then to PanoO corporation from there.

Post by: Hellwolve
Either or both I know that for 40.000, there are regions with unnamed planets or regions that are unknown - 'empty' space to fill in yourself. If those planets on your picture are THE only plantets, there's less space for expansion

Post by: CDK
It's only 200 years in the future so most of the planets are sparsely populated. Human Edge if I remember right is not a planet. It's a asteroid mining colony. There are still searches for more wormholes to find new planets as well. Remember this is not 40k where humans rule almost a whole galaxy. Think smaller and more detail.
53659
Post by: Ender0
Well this is current astro-geographical situation in Human Sphere. All together there are 11 inhabited planets (Earth included) and Human Edge system we know very little about. PanO holds 4 planets in four different solar systems plus bigger part of Earth. Yu Jing has two planets in one system. Haqqislam has one planet and Ariadna has also one planet. Planet Concilium is planet controlled by O12 and it's independent. Paradiso is in turmoil right now because of the CA offensive. And in the end there is Human Edge system which is (if I understood correctly) mostly made of asteroids with presumably mining stations and some other artificial habitats. We have no idea how big is CA dominion but we can assume it's much larger. So unfortunately there is no big unexplored sectors (like Calixis sector in 40k for example) but I guess there is a lot of space stations, inhabited asteroids and all other stuff you can explore in different systems. I know that this is much smaller scale compared to entire galaxy in 40k but I think it still offers a lot of possibility for exploration. I could go on and on about this but my suggestion is to get the books. You'll find a lot of this kind of info. Edit: and again ninja'd by CDK Automatically Appended Next Post: For you guys interested in how maps looks like in the book, this is a map o Paradiso done for some campaign on official forums. It was posted by Yasbir so I guess it's ok to post it. Take a look.

I think I know enough for now Dawn is the Ariadna held planet, right?

Dawn is the world the Ariadna mission colonised, yes.
It's disputed though (as both PanO and Yu-Jing also want its mineral wealth) so conflict is going to happen.
And none of those abominations (human-beast-thing hybrids) will stand in their way (I thought it was the nomads who got off on the furries?)

With all that in mind, the fluff of my force:
Grigori Mandate, Strategic Security Division, New Dawn Company, Strike Team.
The Strategic Security Division is the PanOceanian agency for foreign intelligence. It works under direct orders from the Hexaedron, the Military and Intelligence High Command of PanOceania, and the immediate executor of its directives and orders. The Division’s mission is to maintain the international status quo and strategic situation of the Human Sphere.
Their goal is to maintain PanOceanian control in hostile operations outside national territory. The Hexas conduct covert paramilitary operations, destabilization missions, training of rebel troops, key target abductions, interrogation sessions, and ‘termination of targets with extreme prejudice’; the classic catalogue. What sets the Hexas apart from other special operations agents is their moral integrity, or rather, lack thereof. They are Intelligence agents without bounds, basically professional war criminals with better technology. Judging from what little that can be drawn from their records, even the PanOceanian military loathes them.
That there is a part of the Division that is said to operate under something known as the "Grigori Mandate", is the 'fault' of a certain Marshal Grigori Faust, of the Hexaedron. For whatever reason, he sees wresting as much of Dawn out of Ariadna control as he can manage as his own personal vendetta. Diverting resources from the main Strategic Security Division, he created a new group of soldiers, aptly and evocatively named the New Dawn Company, further divided into Strike Teams.
Logically and logistically, the New Dawn Company can't get the full support of the PanOceanian military. The core of every Strike Team, then, is one or two Hexas, sometimes even supported by ALEPH's Deva functionaries if the situation warrants it. This core proceeds to find suitable rebel elements on Dawn, who are then trained in remote locales to the operational level of Fusiliers and in rare ocasions, with gifted individuals, beyond.
Any resemblance to the fluff of my Imperial Guard army is a coincedence

I'm a haqqislam player and I really don't like Islam IRL nor am I really into their fluff in game. I envision my group as a rag-tag band of desert warriors with their own motivations. More of an anime influenced group of mercenary heroes of freedom fighters warring against The Man, or whoever. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I chose them mainly because I thought they looked cool.
The nomads probably have the most appealing fluff, or Ariadna. Love the idea of colonists on an alien world struggling for survival, that's some good science fiction right there.

At the risk of diving into a tumultuous discussion, I really dig the Haqqislam stuff. They're a lot more progressive and whatnot, and refreshingly different than today's view of the stuff.
There's still plenty of room for wiggle with all the different units and what they can do. A lot of their stuff focuses on the Silk Road after all, it's only the Red Turbans and the Hassassins that really have the religious overtones.

Fluff for the first two Prowlers of my main force:
Prowler 1 (ADHL + combi rifle +ft):
A veteran Prowler of the Special Action Service, Mongrain Oscarson has seen it all. Born aboard a refugee ship full of people fleeing one of the interminable conflicts between Pan-O and Yu Jing, Mongrain’s early life was one of hardship, surviving in a barely spaceworthy ship that toured the spaceports of all the major powers and being refused access by all. Eventually, in desperation, they turned to the closest (at that time) of the Nomad Nations, Bakunin, and were welcomed with open arms. Their ship was traded for living space within one of the communes and the families gradually settled into their new existence.
Even with a hull around them, life still wasn’t easy; the different cults, communes, religions, tech heads and bio-constructs all fought for dominance, or at least a place of relative security. For Mongrain, someone without an established place in society who did not fit into either Praxis or VaudeVille, it was a constant struggle. This forged a hard edged, iron willed individual, properties which brought him to the attention of local army recruiters. Always somewhat of a loner, Mongrain never the less grew into his new family and rapidly mastered the arts of war, his ingrained reliance on his own effort and skills earning him a place in the Prowlers, a dedicated fighting unit where members often operate alone or behind enemy lines for extended periods of time.
After almost 20 years service, there is not a world he has not visited, or an enemy left un-fought.
But through it all Mongrain has remained disaffected by the society he was raised in, where clans, families and secret societies hold the power and pull the strings. He now fights for the shadow forces of Gao Tsai, hoping to make a new nation where all are welcome, where merit counts more than ancestry.
Prowler 2 (Spitfire, D-charges):
Kokaly Galluccio signed up for the Bakunin armed forces at the age of 18 after numerous run-ins with the law over his “over-enthusiastic” dedication to the destruction of pretty much anything he got his hands on left him with the choice between service or exile. The combination of a disturbing dedication to destruction and a resistance to the notion of working as part of a larger team naturally pushed Kokaly towards the Prowlers.
Here he learned to channel his nature and became a first class operative, able to take down any opposition with a withering hail of fire from his Spitfire (his preferred weapon, combining a satisfying amount of destruction whilst allowing the mobility necessary for missions behind enemy lines), or an uncannily placed D-Charge [File Note: Prowler Galluccio has been reprimanded on no less than 14 occasions for excessive use of D-charges, though all charges have been mitigated by lack of any collateral damage to off-limit targets].
It was while working alongside Mongrain on Ariadna during the Commercial Conflict that Kokaly first started to question the society that raised him, and on Mongrain’s recruitment to Gao’s shadow network Kokaly willingly went along with him.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Intruder 1 (HMG):
Corregidor breeds hard men and women. No one more exemplifies this than Manzueta Upham. Born to aeroponics workers of Lazareto, Manzueta was well used to a life of hard work in frequently dangerous environments and at the age of 12 was apprenticed to a shipworking gang servicing commercial ships for the major space lines. Long hours working in zero gravity amid the dangers inherent in space work taught Manzueta the value of patience, of thinking through a problem before applying just the right amount of leverage to get the job done. At the age of 17 he completed his apprenticeship and signed on as a junior contractor servicing the fledgling Ariadnaian space fleet right at the start of the Commercial Conflict.
Subject to repeated covert acts of sabotage and violence from Yu Jing and Pan-O commercial interests, Manzueta’s crew was in danger of being overrun until the arrival of an Intruder, who organised resistance, distributed weapons and ammunition from hidden stockpiles and led the work crews in a number of decisive defensive actions until more regular Nomad forces could arrive to handle security.
The young Manzueta was so impressed at how a single person had made so much of a difference in the fight against those who would try to harm the workers of Corregidor that upon the arrival of the Nomad relief forces he immediately signed up and served as a milita member alongside a company of Moderators from Bakunin for over 2 years, distinguishing himself in a number of actions against enemy forces.
In 2175, 5 years into the Commercial Conflict, Manzueta was wounded in the arm, chest and leg while leading a boarding action on a freighter carrying stolen teseum out-system. Despite his wounds, he continued on to the bridge against heavy resistance, eventually taking control of the ship. His bravery so inspired the troops with him (including a number of Alguaciles) that he was immediately invited to join their ranks.
2 years later, in 2178, Manzueta was again badly wounded in a delaying action but continued fighting until loss of blood rendered him unconscious and allowed him to be captured by Yu Jing forces, however his squad’s heroic defiance in the face of overwhelming odds delayed the Yu Jing advance long enough for Nomad forces to withdraw in good order saving many lives.
Wounded and held by the enemy, Manzueta escaped and was re-captured no less than 7 times over the course of 2 months before finally returning to Nomad controlled territory on his 8th attempt (having travelled almost 100km on a broken ankle sustained when he jumped from a speeding air-car that was in the process of taking him to a more secure facility).
After extensive debriefing he was immediately transferred to the Intruder programme for additional training.
It is unclear how Manzueta came to align himself with Gao’s organisation but he is a staunch supporter of their goals.

Sometimes it is hard to match up the fluff and timeline but I think it just opens up the possibilities. Also nice to have a range of ages - Manzueta and Mongrain are in their 40's, while Kokalyis in his mid 20's. I think it helps to reinforce the playstle of the characters on the table to think of them in this way - especially models which would be used in a similar role each time, like Kokaly and his spitfire. Other characters can be used with a range of models as the are more general in their attitudes - the other two could be given many loadouts and it would still suit them.

People are amazed if they see Hsien, Lee Jun-fan. He looks like only a 20 year old but is actually 92. Thanks to to the grace of the Emperor, and Cube technology, Lee Jun-fan was given a second chance after his first death at the end of the Neocolonial wars. blah blah blah heroic thing he did here.

I wanted to get in some sort of thing about the cube. It's mentioned a lot but is nothing but a hindrance in the game. Other things I want to get in about him but don't know how. Is that he had risen through the ranks as a Zanshi, to Invincible, to Dao Fei, to Hac Tao, to Hsien. Seem a bit much?

I'm under the impression Cubes are much more important when factored into scenario games and campaigns... since if you have a Cube there's a chance of coming back... otherwise if you're dead you're done.

Several of the Nomad troops don't have cubes, but do have access to "external downloads" where they download before a mission so that information cannot be extracted from their cubes if killed/captured.

I'm thinking of being a bit weird. Weirder than normal. I want to base the 8 Invincibles off the eight immortals of Chinese myth. One of them is pretty sexually ambiguous, Lan Caihe. I'm wondering if I should write something about that. He's a man wearing women's armor lol.

I've not read too much of that faction's fluff, but aren't personal freedoms like that slightly restricted?

Post by: CDK
Nope. It's not like today. People keep thinking it's some sort of communist state but it is like that anymore. They have an Emperor and intentionally brought back religion. They still do believe in a strong government but there's a lot more personal freedom.
In anime there's always that sort of ambiguous guy. That's sort of what he would be I guess. Plus there's only one real female in the eight so he would make up for it lol.
Elder Zhang Guo will be a Hac Tao because he was know for using magic.
Zhongli Quan was a leader so he's another Hsien.
Immortal Woman He will be either an Invincible or Dao Fei. There's also a female Hsein. So one of those three.

Intruder 2 (multi-sniper):
Janocha Checkett was a career smuggler, serving aboard a number of crews running illegal goods; from weapons to genetically modified pets. Janocha is a serious man with a gaze like a dreadnought’s main laser and almost as deadly; it is estimated that during his career over fifty corporate security guards, investigators and enforcers have fallen prey to his prestigious skill with a sniper rifle.
Janocha remained at least one step ahead of the law until he and his crew were left high and dry by BlueDagger, a rival smuggling group who had arranged a trade on the surface of Paradiso but instead alerted O-12 security forces of the time and place of the exchange. With most of his crew dead in the opening exchange, Janocha was forced to flee. Hiding with the few survivors in the jungles of Paradiso they harassed law enforcement troops for over 2 months before managing to escape in one of their shuttles and being picked up by a Nomad patrol.
During the 2 months in the jungle, Janocha had welded his crew into an efficient asymmetrical warfare team, leading it unerringly in force against the weakest part of the enemy force before withdrawing back into the shadows. The Nomad military echelons took note and recruited him along with most of his crew into various areas of the armed forces, with Janocha slated for the more elite force of all; the Intruders.
Janocha has since served with distinction protecting Nomad interests throughout the NeoColonial war, as well as in a number of other theatres.
Janocha believes aligning himself with Gao will enable him to retire in relative luxury and he is ready to do what it takes to ensure that this is the case…

I have a PanO army I painted up as a Umbrella Corp. U.B.C.S team it looks awsome on the table when I'm duking it out with mybuddies combined army

That's a petty good idea because PanO is said to be pretty much run by corporations who compete with each others as well against other nations.

I should be working on my painting challenge entry, but I've got art block on that front - I've had an attack of real world that's just put me off. I've had to push it to the back of my head while I got on with the important stuff, and now I can't get it back to the front. And it's much the same with my writing.
So I went and drew something, which I haven't done for about four months. That tells you a lot about me - high spec graphics tablet, gets use a couple of times a year. Still, despite being more than a little rusty, I've enjoyed drawing again, so I might get back into it more.
But anyway - this isn't quite fluff, as I haven't actually got a name or much written for her yet, but have some WIP artwork for the lady Asawira who, at least in the background, has command of my Haqqislam. (Quite a target as an in-game Lt., but just too much of a badass to not - at least nominally - be top of the pack).
The face is a total goof that needs redoing (aside from being wonky as hell, I need to work on an appropriate ethnicity) and the rest of the scene's barely started (and is thus not included), amongst any other number of adjustments and extra work, but I should have been in bed about six hours ago and my brain just won't work any longer.

Not finished yet (that's going to take more background and some colour), but considerably further down the road towards it. However, I've still got that entry for the painting comp to do (sadly, it's not this girl), I'm not sure I'll have the time to do very much more for a while.
I am much happier with the face now - the last attempt was utterly hamhanded. I've got to stop bodging it and actually use the reference books I've got.
In the event any of you are interested, the web address at the bottom is my deviantART, which will show you some of my previous work. None of that is Infinity though - it's mostly various Inquisitor/ 40k RPG characters and amateur photography of steam locomotives/canals.

If you'd like to try colouring her, feel free to do so. I'm usually cool with that kind of thing as long as it's all appropriately credited (i.e. don't pretend my work is yours, or your work is mine) and nothing obscene is being done with it - not that I get asked that often!
I probably will be colouring her myself at some point, as I've enjoyed drawing her this far - I frequently forget how much I get out of drawing when I actually just get on with it.
Anyway, if you do want to try colouring, I've uploaded a larger 1800x1800 download version to deviantART. (For anyone wondering, the original is a somewhat larger 7200x7200 - I like to draw large).

So, I finally got around to writing some down. In a hurry right now, so I haven't been able to read it through for mistakes and... inferior written parts. Not really satisfied with the last parts of it, but I'll fix that when I can.
Anyway, here's what I got for my Nomads (Bakunin focused).
Infinity - Force Fluff
"Prisma Black"
Maya - Documents from the Underground.
[Cue intro, cut to reporter boarding Bakunin]
Welcome dear viewer to today's episode of Documents from the Underground, Maya's finest investigation program! We bring you only the facts from all of the most notorious criminal gangs and crimes commited in the Human Sphere.
Today's episode starts off with a documentary about a shady gang of thieves, supposedly operating from Bakunin known as Prisma Black.
What is so special about the Prisma Black, you ask? Well, simply put, they're thieves of prestige. So far, they have never commited any theft of monetary units, but only of the finest, most protected works of art and beauty.
[Cut to scene of reporter walking in the Bakunin Common Zone]
The story of Prisma Black begins with their leader, Mr. Orthal Black... Or at least, that's what he calls himself. I highly doubt that's his real name, or his only alias. At least we know that he's commonly referred to as "Mister Black" by some parts of the Bakunin underground.
Incidentally, we have been able to gain a lot of inside information about Prisma Black from Mr. Black himself!
Yes, you heard it! When Mr. Black found out that we were doing an episode about him, he willingly sent us information about his past! So, without further ado, allow me to retell what he told us about his past.
[Cut to reporter in VaudeVille]
So, this is apparently the place where Black grew up. His youth was clearly influenced by the aesthethical works of VaudeVille. However, he would not grow up to be the artist his parent's wanted him to be. No, he was drafted into the army as a Zero.
As a Zero, he was not that outstanding. He operated with gret stealth and zero failure as every other accomplished Zero, and he loved what he did. The thrill of sneaking with your life as a bet, stalking the frontiers of both open and secret wars... He did that for years, performing what I imagine to be incredible feats and doing unspeakable things. Did he murder? Probably. I do not know.
And some day, he went missing in action, a common demise for infiltration troops.
At least, that's what the reports said. That's what the people in charge believed. But it was not the truth.
The truth was that he feigned his death. Since he was working behind enemy lines, no one would ask if his body was not to be found. He simply abandoned the army in order to start his new life, and life of criminality and art.
He returned to Bakunin, and apparently had a small fortune. How he gained it, he did not tell. All I know is that with careful placing in certain companies both legal and illegal, he had his resources secured.
He had decided upon becoming a thief.
[Commercial break starring Haqqislam medical companies, Bakunin science progress and "The Free Life of a Nomad"]
[Cut to reporter in the studio]
Welcome back, viewer!
Before the break, I mentioned that Mr. Black had decided upon becoming a thief. Why?
The reason is quite simple. Mr. Black had always loved art since his childhood, and in adulthood he appreciated the beauty of it even more. He also loved the thrill of sneaking and infiltration, and was growing bored of working for someone else. The Bakunin spirit was in him, and he became a collector, combining the two loves in his life.
[Cut back to VaudeVille, reporter in a museum]
And that's how he started. At first, it was only small theft, to test his limits, but as his self-confidence grew, so did his goals. Eventually he attracted, and hired other like-minded individuals. It is also worth noting that while they prefer to avoid bloodshed, they have been known to kill in order to reach their goals. Most of the members of his crew hail from Bakunin, but there are others from the rest of the Nomad Nation. Some even say he has Haqqislamite agents under him, as well as loyal contacts in Yu Jing and PanOceania. If this is truth, falsehood, or "chinese whispers", we may only guess.
In either way, he kept stealing art, keeping it to himself as long as it pleased him. Jewelry and statues are known to be stolen and lost for weeks, months or even years, before reappearing out of nowhere on the illegal market. Some pieces of art are never seen again.
Recently though, it seems that Prisma Black have been paying attention to the turn of political events, and readily send his group to aid the Bakunin cause. If this is an agreement between him and the governing people of Bakunin or not is open for speculation. All that we know is that Prisma Black have been involved in some skirmishes with hostile nations as well as the regular thieving.
[Cut back to the studio]
And that is how Prisma Black came to become a very peculiar criminal group, stealing art for the sake of beautyand prestige and aiding the Nomad in the current political situation.
And that is all of today's episode of Documents from the Underground! Tune in for next week's episode where we discuss some of the illegal trading of silk!
[Outro]
Feel free to tear it apart with C&C!

Project Beyt
ALEPH's concerns regarding the capacity of the invading alien Combined Army to significantly harm not only the Human Sphere but ALEPH itself only deepened with the first reports of soldiers subject to the so-called "Sepsistor Virus" which turned free men and women into drones. ALEPH's fears were confirmed when the first Sepsistorized troops were captured alive and analyzed. Specifically, ALEPH became concerned that the Evolved Intelligence could potentially infect ALEPH itself, a blow that would cripple the Human Sphere. In the interests of self-preservation, ALEPH began the development of Project Beyt.
The operatives of Project Beyt form a secondary iteration of ALEPH. All resources assigned to Project Beyt are cut off from synching with ALEPH's core, though they are still permitted to synch with each other to a limited degree. Only the Project Beyt's Devas are permitted to communicate with ALEPH directly, and they do so through several layers of failsafes and firewalls. The goal is to wean these Aspects off of a dependency on ALEPH. Should ALEPH be compromised by the Evolved Intelligence, Project Beyt will form a last line of defense. In the meantime, Project Beyt performs operations that ALEPH must remain ignorant of, and hone their skills against alien invasion teams whenever possible.
So far, the project has proved successful. Despite its disconnection from ALEPH, Project Beyt has performed admirably. However, there have been complications. Deprived of a connection to ALEPH, the Aspects of Project Beyt are beginning to develop more complex personalities and motivations. So far, Project Beyt has retained operative stability, but detractors fear that it is only a matter of time before the increasingly Human nature of its Aspects hinders Project Beyt's ability to perform its stated goals.

Thank you! (Was afraid no one was going to respond to it - It took some time )
And yeah, one thing I really loved about the fluff in the rulebook was how everything, especially the first part, was written like you basically was browsing Maya and reading some documents / watching some videos... So I decided to replicate that!

Why yes, it does!
(My thoughts when writing the last part; "Let's end it with a "IN THE NEXT EPISODE!"... But what should the next part be about? Hm, wasn't there a guy at the forums dealing with illegal silk trading? Yeah, that sounds good. Let's go with that!")

Male Voice - “Ms. Shinawa, a pleasure that you could make it. I trust your flight was a pleasant one. Please have a seat, excuse me for not getting up.”
Shinawa – “Yes, of course. I certainly didn’t expect to be dealing so swiftly in person with you…-“
Male Voice – “You may call me Kagit. That will do fine.”
Shinawa – “Kagit?” *a pause* “Turkish, not Arabic?”
Kagit – “An astute observation Ms. Shinawa, You’re certainly up on your languages.”
Shinawa – “In my field of work it certainly helps.”
Kagit – “Naturally. Tea? “
Shinawa – “No thank you. I was hoping we would be getting right to business?”
Kagit – “Of course, not all of us are used to old fashioned pleasantries.”
Shinawa – “I didn’t mean to off-“
Kagit – “Of course, none taken. Now what can I help you with Ms. Shinawa?”
Shinawa – “I would like to import seven units of silk to my company on Svalarheima, preferably within the next three weeks.”
Kagit – “That is a task, but certainly not an impossible one. Your timetable seems to have increased since your first contacted me, that will naturally be adjusted in the price.”
Shinawa – “And the price that you’re setting is…?”
Kagit – “Whatever amount of funding was allocated for your project by O12.”
Shinawa – “Pardon me?”
Kagit – “We knew that since you first contacted us, your network doesn’t-“
BAM!BAM!BAM!
Kagit – “Well then. I believe that answers my next question.”
Shinawa – “A hologram? Seriously? Shitshitshit…”
Kagit – “I had entirely been willing to go along with the charade Ms. Shinawa… don’t bother, it’s locked. If your agency did need a large amount of Silk moved, I was willing to negotiate for it. But as you’ve shown me, that was never your intention anyway.”
Shinawa – “So now what? Maybe I am still interested?”
Kagit – “You just put three rounds in a very nice, very empty leather chair Ms. Shinawa. I think your actions speak volumes.”
*silence*
Kagit – “I assume you still have bullets left. The smart thing to do would be to put a round in your cube right now. As in fifteen more seconds one of my teams will be opening those doors, putting you down, and then we are going to hook that little brainbox of yours up to our in house hacker. We won’t even have to ask nicely to get what we need from you. Right now you’re thinking about taking on the assault team, which is natural… survival instinct. I’m sure you’re good Ms. Shinawa, but nobody is that good. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision.”

Thanks, I was bored on Saturday and felt like I should contribute something, so I ticked away at that... I'll do some more later.
I like my Haqqislam because I've really woven a crazy sort of reasoning for everything that ends up making perfect sense in the universe, so that makes me happy.
I'm thinking my Ariadna forces will be less fluffy, as they're very no-nonsense and to the point.

I didn't want to get caught up describing sounds and the like, just wanted it to primarily be an audio exchange of the talking.

Here is a intro for my Ariadna force,
1st Special Forces Group of Ariadna
“Okay, listen up ladies my name is Captain Roger Van Zant and I am in charge of this outfit. The Cossack High Command thought it would be swell to create a joint Special Forces unit. We have Rangers, Chasseurs, Vet Kazaks, Grey Rifles, Scouts, Wolvers, Para Commandos, Tank Hunters, SAS, and a Cateran. For those who do not know me, let me be frank, I am arrogant, hard headed, and infuriating. However I will never ask you to do something I will not do myself.
For those who are wondering about the chain of command, Veteran Kazak Aleksandr is my second in command; Uxia McNeill is third in command.
We are going to be doing a lot of black ops which is good because that what we are good at sort of thing. This means that we are all going to die horrible deaths at some point in time. So if you do not want a piece of this action, then bug off. We are also going to do missions that require working with PanOceania, Yu Jing, Haqqislam and the Nomads from time to time. So if you do not like that, well too bad, get over it.
Now that we have that out of the way, welcome to the 1st Special Forces Group of Ariadna. Our motto is “Death Before Dishonor”. I expect everyone to live up to it, do not embarrasses me.”

All right, Maia, you were right. The Kampilan islands aren't quite the cushy dead end posting I was hoping for. After Ravensbruck, you'd think they'd give us a break. Kampilan seemed like a nice quiet vacation in comparison. The locals (what do you call them again, the Tasug?) got a really nice settlement zone. While the Arabs and the Farsi, masochists that we are, lept right into the deserts, they grab the island paradise. Those little boats skimming across the harbor (vinta, irc?) are quite picturesque.
I did a little snooping, and you're right. Loads of close-mouthed offworlders doing security and construction consultancy work? Nightly overflights by stealthed helicopters? And have you seen the service records of the people here in the garrison? Sgt. al-Hazred looks like an old drunk quack that I wouldn't trust with a stethoscope, but he saw action at al-Hadiyye way back during the 2nd Neocolonial. Whole parts of his CV are just blacked out... (Continue to page 2 - Y/N?) N

They're Tausug. They've always been seafarers. "People of the Current". When the Philippines joined PanO, they got fed up and a lot of them emigrated to Bourak.
Back on topic. It gets better. Remember that new nature preserve that the Sultanate is setting up in the northern islands? Guess who's providing the funding? Masyaf MediTech. Private firm. Really opaque corporate structure, but way too many of the directors have ties to the HaqqSufi up in Alamut. You know I've never liked conspiracy nuts, but this is too much. PMCs from Corregidor? Stealthed helicopters? Secret cargoes that get waved through inspections at port? A nature preserve funded by the Hassassin ETTVAK?
I almost wish I was back in Ravensbruck. Those damned monkeys fought like demons, but at least you always knew where you stood with them.

Maia shut the computer down and disconnected her comlog. She carefully unholstered her sidearm and then set it down on her table. She leaned back in her chair and spun it around, looking out the balcony into the glittering night lights of Kampilan island’s beachfront resorts. She took a long sip from a glass of cola, savoring the way the melting ice had diluted the fizzy drink to the point of perfection.
The sound of her office door opening was almost drowned out by the gentle beating of the waves on the shore. She made it a point not to spin around and confront the intruder, tried to keep her voice steady. “So what are you people going to do with me now?”
“That depends.” The voice was barely a whisper, quiet and neutral, the English accentless. It could have been the voice of anyone in the Human Sphere. “Who else have you told of your findings?”
“Nobody.”
“Really now? And what was that email you were sending?”
Maia clucked her tongue. “A commander’s got to be able to trust her second.”
“And you haven’t told anyone else?” Slight hint of mockery. Smug snake.
Maia growled. “I may be a kafir mongrel, but I know where my loyalties lie, Hassassin. I am a daughter of Bourak, regardless of religious differences.”
The intruder grunted. Maia tried to ignore the twitchiness between her shoulderblades.
“I’m curious. Are you just going to sit there?”
“Hmm. Odds are, you’re a Hassassin. I can’t out fight you, and I’d be dead by the time I reached for my sidearm. Given that you’ve got the drop on me, I figure it’s not worth the effort.” Maia took another sip from her glass. “Favor?”
“Hmm?”
Maia raised her glass to eye level, watching the refractions of the twinkling night lights of the beach as the cola sloshed around. The intruder’s sneaksuit reflected dimly on the glass surface.
“Whatever you’ve come here to do, could you at least wait until I’ve finished this glass? You wouldn’t believe what the USAriadnans charge for a can of Coca-Cola.”
She wasn’t sure if she heard a suppressed snort of laughter. There was a muffled beep of a comlog going online. “Zephon? Yes, you’re right, she’ll do. Clever, and reasonably discreet. And as you say, she survived Ravensbruck. She’ll be perfect for the Paper Route.”
“Well, I’m glad I passed the audition.” Maya finally turned her chair around, lifting her boots up to the desktop and considering the Hassassin’s impassive visage. “Out of curiosity, what would you have done if I had started talking to that MassiveEffect newsy who was snooping around yesterday?”
“Well, then she would have told me that you were untrustworthy and I would have shot you as I entered the room.”
"Glad I kept my mouth shut. And what about Khalisah?”
“We trust your judgement. If you trust Ms al-Nasser, then so will we.”
There was an audible click next to the Hassassin’s helmet as Khalisah set her pistol to safe. The Tuareg scout disengaged her thermoptic camouflage to reveal herself standing behind the Hassassin with a gun leveled to the back of his skull. “I’m so glad we didn’t have to do anything unfortunate. It’d be a pain having to clean brains out of the carpet.” Khalisah grinned as she holstered her sidearm.
Maia drained the rest of her glass. "We figured you'd be reading our mail, so I decided to use that to draw you out. No offense, but you fell right into it."
Now the Hassassin really laughed. “Well played, Ms. Ferrer, Ms. Al-Nasser. It will be a pleasure working with the two of you.”
Maia’s desktop computer fired up of its own accord. A new message was flashing in her inbox.
Deployment orders for something called Taskforce Karambit.
