Hello there !
Here you can see the development of a gameingboard, which is dedicated to battles for Hivecity Sevarus Prime. We document our steps with pictures and text and videos, and of course we are available for any questions you may have. We are also open for any ideas and critique.
We aren't native English speakers, so have mercy with us if me make mistakes.
The whole project started a few months ago and is called "the doom of Sevarus Prime". Our Crew consists of 3 guys, all working on terrain, background stories, artworks, videos and in the future also battle reports.
If you wanna know what already happened you can check out our Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Doom-of-Sevarus-Prime/308386632519583?ref=tn_tnmn
So I gonna post everything from the beginning till now in the next few days.
Here you can see how the construction started, cutting the foam board and placing the trench segments
Wow, just incredible. The tracks next to the storage facility are a nice little touch that gives a brilliant hint of realism. Well done on the whole thing.
board is looking great!! if you have that watered down PVE glue in a bottle like that, does it stay in that liquid form or will it get chunky in the water??
We simply used bakingpowder, sprinceld it over the board, used an airbrush to make it look like the wind was blowing and than fixed it with hairspray and purity seal.
Here we have an overview over the first sector with snow, just remember its not done yet !
So here we have some other pictures for you, when we worked on these things the first two videos appeared, they where our first try outs, ...bad quality, and they are only aviable in german, but maybe interesting to look at...
...our new videos are with english subtitels and with more interesting content, just check the channel (:
This is amazing man... Just put Taniths First and Only and the Iron Warriors and you have Fortis Binary ! Awsome trenches. So what armies are you gonna use there?
Oh, and just a suggestion, if you do any more broken pipes, you should try and see if you can get some sort of fountain effect spurting from them since you're water effect looks really good.
This is amazing. When ever I see game boards like this it gets me fired up to do one but, sadly, I don't have the skills to make a board even half as well as this.

Probably determined them to be too expensive to make with too little demand. Buildings of that size would have cost as much as a small army, lol.
That said, an amazing work you guys have going there. It makes me want to ship some of my newest Space Marine project models over there when they are completed, just to have you guys take pictures of them on it, lol. That's going to be quite the accomplishment to be proud of when it is done. Some really nice, really creative work you've done. A ton of atmosphere already and it doesn't look like you're anywhere near done adding to it.
The 'other building' was just another sprue, produced the same way as the Manufactorum, Sanctum Imperialis & Basilica Administratum. They made a load, pretty much all the pictures of Cities of Death buildings published back when the suppliment came out feature buildings constructed from this sprue. For some reason (bizarre reason) GW didn't market it. Personally I'd have bought boxes of it, as it's not totally covered in skulls and statues. It shouldn't have cost any more than the other three buildings, at somepoint GW must have decided to just do three of the four and this one got dumped. Still think they should release it . .
Wow. really really nice job. I love to make terrrain, specifically a WW2 stalingrad themed mess of ruined buildings and mud. This is spectacular. Great work.
Don’t know how I missed this post….. almost choked on my coffee!!!!
Amazing looking !!!! How big is it going to end up being? Perfect cities of death for sure. Keep up the good work !!!!
Instantly subbed, exalted (You have to honour of being the first thread I've ever exalted ) and I'm so going to follow this on Facebook and Youtube too... Damn this is some awesome work...
tibbsy yea thats a costume i saw the link on here a week ago he has a lot of crazy stuff on there they show up to games day in germany as a full squad of karsikans or elysians if i find the link ill link it here to show you.

Exactly what he said. It reminded of me when I was in the Army. It was about 15 degrees outside (-9.4 Celsius for you Metric folks), gloomy dark overcast sky, and bitter wind that blew the snow in all directions at once. There was a burn barrel but there was no heat from it, just the rancid stench of smoldering coal. I was absolutely miserable and completely hated my choices in life that put me in that wretched situation. Your photoshop picture reminded me of that moment.
To ensure I'm clear, that was a very well done photoshop.
I really like the dust effects on the video (the dark explosions, they look real) the other ones are good, but still pretty CG'ed. I'm liking the update though
About the Leman Russ video, yea many people said it shozuld shake more... I'll work on it
So here are some news, in the next few weeks we are gonna start working on a new segment of our gameing board.
In the meantime we are working on a Golden Demon project and some ohter small stuff, like dozerblades for heavy tanks.
B.t.w. if you wanna see our Red Scorpions and if you are in Germany in the next few weeks, you may wanna visit Games Workshop Düsseldorf.

And money. I'm sure they spent a king's ransom on these game boards. Just look at all of the plastic - hardly any custom resin casts. Almost all of it looks like they bought their bits retail from GW or Forgeworld. We all know that the reaver titan alone costs as much as most people's entire army.
-The base for the new Stormtalon and the first step of painting it.
-There are also a few ne pictures about the GD-project base. It is just a test how the snow would look like, the snow is not fixed on the base yet. Also a destroyed tank obstacle was added, not glued in place yet, just to see how it would look.
Brilliant base and i love the flyer, any chance you could put together a tutorial for the conversion as i would like to do something similar (or at least list the parts and steps). Thanks for some more eyewatering images to feast upon

It's called a 'mars-alpha pattern ST' and while I didn't really write a proper conversion article for it, you can find enough photos in my flickr to figure out what you need to change:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/prefix84/sets/72157630023694818/
The parts you need are:
2x Storm Raven tails (about $3 each on ebay)
1x Storm Raven nose typhoon launcher
2x Storm Raven assault cannons and housings from the top turret (or similar).
I think the most critical bits are the missile launcher and tails for the same look, the assault cannons you can probably use whatever. As for the plasticard work it was pretty straight forward and you can see the angles of the nose piece in the underside shot.
So here we have some new stuff, we allmost finished our testgameingtable for the 6th. edition, only the water is missing now. We also have a new into video for our youtube videos. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=484181991606712
Awesome new stuff, guys!
As for the vid, I'd suggest you try some camera shake and let the tank tremble from the recoil.... that'd make it even better!
As for cool unit ideas, some sort of thunder hammer shield terminators always look cool, or you could have some grim veterans in really old marks of armour defending a shrine.
The oil wash - I have that same stuff but it's very shiny/glossy when I use it. How have you used it exactly? It looks great.
For the video I think the most effective change would be to add camera shake. When the tank fires, or shells explode, the ground would vibrate and the camera ought to too. If you watch something like Saving Private Ryan the camera shakes all the time.
@Bruticus: I just mixed it with thinner and used it like a normal wash.
Rogue Wolves asked if we can put a masterclass section with painting tutorials and stuff in our campain book. Would more of you like that and if what wold you like to see in there?
So we updated the video of the Macharius, go check it out ! Added some weather effects, new sound and shaking camera.
Hmm... so ok, tutorials and tips for modelling and painting terrain and models. Just in the book or would you also like tutorial videos in addition to the book?
Any more ideas ? Please tell us, any idea or suggestion that you have, or what you would like to see ? Anything from rules to tutorials is possible
Do you have fluff? You're so involved with this it seems hard to imagine that you don't have a bit of "flavortext" to go with all this incredible work. Perhaps play a few games and try to write not a bat-rep, but a short story to put into a page of the codex.
I'm assuming the codex is electronic, if so: Vids in will be awesome (even GW hasn't matched that yet), you have amazing pictures as well, perhaps the background of your codex would be a faded "live action" storyline that people could read as they go through the codex - a sort of glorified bat rep complete with your astounding line of photography.
Apart from that, Tutorials and plenty of glorious pics that exhalt your already incredible work is as much as I'd like to see in your AAA codex.
^ I definatly like the idea of that, fluffy batte reports are always interesting to read, and if its a digital book, throwing vids here and there would be cool too! (like your shooting leman russ videos!)
Does your 502 Arbteilung engine grease ever dry? I used some on some bases and it hasn't dried at all, gets all over my fingers if I touch it. Do you seal it some how?
Did you acually use it withouth thinner... if you apply it derectly it dries out for months.. you need to thin it with wihte spirit and use it as wash.. if there is more confusion about how to use Oil colors we can make a quick video tutorial about it.
Oh wow i wish that i had found this thread earlier, it'd be a dream to have the time, the money and the group to do this with! I envy you sirs. But i tip my hat to you!
