This is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month and my fiancee has it. I am gana be painting and converting a space marine for her for to show my support to her cause and have her do with it as she pleases.

I purpose a challenge to anyone willing to wana do it. The challenge is to paint an infantry model and then send me a photo through a pm. Please pm me to tell if you are interested in participating in this challenge. I plan on having all photos voted on without names and also have her pick a winner of what she likes. I wana show people with cystic fibrosis that the gamer community does support the finding of a cure or treatment even if it is just us modeling and painting to do it.

(optional) If you wana donate to cystic fibrosis research please do, every dollar helps.

If you wana donate your model you can send it to me and she will raffle it off at the fair here. The money raised will be donated also the help research a cure. Those who want to pm me and I will give you the mailing address.

Basic rules
1) Any infantry type unit from any game system out there(40k, wh fantasy, WM, Hordes, Infinity...)
2) Main colors are purple and gold, you can mix any other colors in as you wish
3) The symbol for cystic fibrosis is a rose and you mush have a rose on the model some where
4) You have until the end of may to get your models done and photographed and sent to me to set up a voting page
5) My model is disqualified from the contest seeing as I am hosting it
6) One model only per person
7) You may show wip pics but no painted ones

Turn in Procedure
Send final photo to me and name it "complete model". I will store it till I have them all and then put up and voting page and let people decided who they think is the best on the dakka community and that will be up for 2 weeks. I will then stop the vote and post the community winner is. While my fiancee will decide the three winners for the prizes in the next week after it ends, those will be posted in this thread. All pics must be in the last day of the month the latest or you will not be up for community voting or her picks. (Unless you had a sudden power failure or your computer blew up then yes I can have some special situation, stuff happens)

This actually sounds like a cool idea. Why not have each person paypal a dollar with their image, winner gets half, the other half goes to research for CF? Just a thought-applies to peoples' desire to help and get money. I'll get started on my model tonight. Can you open it up as a Fantasy/40K thing? Makes the pool larger and may get more support. I can see WM, Hordes, Infinity and everything else getting involved too-might wanna ask a MOD to put it in general if you do this. Time to start chopping. (PS, I want to do a Fantasy model, could you tell?

Sorry to be stick in the mud but I prefer to donate directly to charities. Beside even if did manage to win, I'd just donate the prize to the charity anyways.

To all doing this and future ones to join, thank you for doing something you love in support of all cf people. It means alot to see people express themselves with there creativity. We sometimes can't do such hobbies cause of athritis that we develop. Thank you for your support.

No way i could paint a rose and do not have the colors anyhow. However this is a really cool Idea and I hope ya GF enjoys the stuff folks paint.

If you don't want to sculpt or paint a rose, you can just use the Sisters of Battle decal sheet; the flower design on it is a heraldic rose.

I sculpted a rose design on my shoulder pad with green stuff and then realized I could of just used the SOB decal...

Here's what I'm working on. I sculpted the rose symbols to look like they had texture, its not just rough GS'ing. Finally found a use for those Blood Angels bits I got for Christmas in my mega grab bags from the Warstore.

@Koridon: The dark angels consider him one of the fallen but if i remember rightly his true intentions have never fully been revealed.

I just wanted to announce that whomever the original poster picks as the best painted model in this challenge will be receiving from me as a prize two of Space Corsair's Female Space Marine Conversion Kits - that's enough to convert 10 Space Marines. I'm hoping that prize support will drum up some interest in participating. Second and Third place will each receive a single Female Space Marine miniature (requires another company's arms, weapon, and backpack to assemble). Work in progress. Instead of having a rose as an insignia I've decided to make the marine hold it.

The basecoat paint is pretty awful though so may have to strip it.

I am sorry I missed this thread until now.

My girlfriend works at a CF clinic here in Los Angeles so I have had an opportunity to learn about the disease through her and I have come to admire the hell out of the patients and their support networks of friends and family that fight against CF daily.

I'd like to enter a figure as well but the only infantry I have at the moment are 40k Orks. Any chance a Battletech `Mech could stand in as an infantry figure? They are about the same size as most infantry models. If not I'll make the Ork work.

I fully support the use of a Battlemech.

In fact, I may just paint up a second figure. I've got an old, lead Atlas sitting around...

And i do agree you have to admire the pain and suffering they go through daily. As a spouse to them you need strength, courage, and love and she ended up getting me one of the rings on a chain with the Chinese symbols of those words on it. That ring symbolizes what it means to be there rock in a stormy sea.

Subbed and will do, best mate died of CF last year (highest CF rate in the world here in Ireland).

A beautiful thread, I cannot support it too much, makes one realise that even though we all play toy soldiers, it can make a difference IRL.

Could you let entires be elites too? I'd love to do a Terminator. "Never give in" and all that.

Not sure if I agree with that. If that is the case I will not be submitting my model for auction. Nothing against Rhode Island's hungry but I thought this whole effort was to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research.

Do to something happening and her having to go to the hospital for a few weeks i am giving you guys until she gets out which is probability 2 weeks from may 31st. So with this extension please get me pics of final works for her to judge.

first, seccond and third have been chosing.....she admits choosing was very diffucult becuase you all did an amazing job and she was so proud that you all took the time and did this. Thanks for selecting my entry and congrats to the other winners, it was an honor participating and I'm glad your fiancee liked it. It was my first time using the scibor basing kit and blood angel bitz. I'm more than willing to donate the piece if you pm where to send it.
