There's America, and there's Mitt Romney's "Amercia."
Twitter was ablaze with commentary on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning after it came to light that the Romney campaign's newly released app, "With Mitt," misspelled "America" as "Amercia."
The free iPhone app allows supporters to personalize and share photos that are superimposed with one of more than a dozen phrases, like "I stand with Mitt," "Obama isn't working" and "American Greatness."
But one of the slogans plasters "A Better Amercia" across the front of the image.
As of Wednesday morning, the app still had not been updated.

But did he spell America wrong Frazzled? Who do you want to be President, someone who can't spell America or someone who s off our allies?
There's one thing I knew for sure when I posted this and that is that a certain extreme right wing apologist would be posting something in here within 10 minutes of its appearance. I was not "disappointed". Is it really necessary to do that in every thread one doesn't like? Or to try and counter every post one doesn't like within a thread? If I did that I'd be in here all day doing nothing else, which is apparently the case for some people, justifying the use of the word "extreme" to describe their behavior in the extreme. Cue vehement, extreme response in 5...4...3...

Implying Romney won't be good at pissing off allies.

The same reason anything that can draw a line to Obama gets put on Obama's head as well, no matter how far removed. You would think policy would be enough to not vote for someone, but we've proven it isn't enough to not agree with a person's policies, you have to actively dislike them as a person as well and use any excuse to denigrate them.

The "gaffe" in question here was a mistake by the graphic designers employed by the Romney campaign...Still, seems like some one should have spotted it before it was released.

Most dictarors are also spankers, except their mistakes aren't made public. You'd probably think a lot higher of your leaders if the president had the power to imprison his ministers at will.

Accidental omissions I'm sure
Perhaps because Eisenhower was the power behind and presented to Congress the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960, Acts that LBJ was responsible for removing much of the original content from through political maneuvering. Content contained in the later 1967 CRA. He also declared racial discrimination a national security issue and used federal troops to integrate public schools. Nixon (you know that other guy's VP) enacted the first Affimitive Action plan and supported the Equal Rights Amendment, like every other mainstream Republican for 40 years, including that Ike guy who really thought it was a great idea.
The Voting Rights Act? I suppose you mean the Republicans who voted more emphatically for it than the Democrats:
Senate: 77–19
No, not an accidental omission at all. The Parties were different back then, The Republicans were the ardent supporters of liberalism and civil rights.

He didn't say libertarian, he said black liberation theory Christian. It's basically a Christian group that concerns itself primarily with oppression, and within that primarily on racial oppression. Basically, AustonT, along with most of the Republican punditland, is trying to go back to the Rev Wright nonsense.
It was a nasty piece of campaigning in 2008, though it did, depressingly enough, work somewhat in rallying the Republican base, because it worked on the fear of what a black man might be like in office. Trying the same thing now isn't just nasty, it's stupid. It's stupid because there is no unknown, Obama is in office and has attempted no plan at all to start oppressing white people. It relies on people voluntarily pretending the last four years haven't happened.
The remarkable thing is that so many loyal Republicans are willing to do just that in order to keep making noise about this stupid non-issue.

I think anytime you mix religion and politics you get an unholy mix, it doesn't matter if it's the recent push by the AG or preachers telling you to vote conservative. If a church starts preaching politics they should loose their special IRS status.

No contest, a vice is better than having your nuts chewed off by a wiener dog. I've seen what a wiener dog can do...
OT but Rodney (the young wiener dog) and Rusty the Tank (Dad's old mountain of a dog) have started practicing a pincer move attack on local wildlife. Rusty comes up directly and Rodney does his patented SHANKATTACKNOMNOMNOM. It worked on the neighbor's dog that dared GETONMYLAWN a few month's back, almost got a rabbit and now ROdney got a cat.
Both disappeared on either side of the Boy's car - hear a cat, see a giant black can run off and Rodney come back around with a satisfied grin and a mouth full of black fur. Becuase he's a BADGER DOG!

They aren't nutters.
I don't think either of them has a magic wand to wave and fix the world's economy.
Neither of them is going to start any more wars. No-one in the western world has the stomach or money for it.
The most that either of them can do is try to shuffle some social type of legislation around.

Isn't the point that the republicans brought up this "issue" about Obama before? Obama did not pursue a black power style presidency, so to repeat the same arguments which didn't work last time and have been proven false since is ridiculous, especially since Obama and his family are no longer members of the church that Reverend Wright is a pastor of.
So did Mitt personally mispell that particular word? I mean, was he the one who sat down at a keyboard and typed it?
I mean, it's funny and all to have "CIA" in America rather than the regular spelling... but this is kinda a non-issue, and making it out as if Mitt was personaly responsible stinks of anti-Republicans desperate for any sort of ammunition.

There's no need to invent a theoretical. Mitt Romney is part of church with some elements that are deeply threatening to many Americans, and with leaders who can very easily be taken out of context and made to sound extremely scary.
And Democrats running a scare campaign on Mormonism are exactly as odious as Republicans who do the same with any church Obama has been affiliated with.
And if Romney won, and throughout his term didn't try to oppress non-mormons, and then Democrats still ran with a scare campaign before during his re-election, it would be odious and also incredibly stupid.
As such, this effort by Republicans is odious and incredibly stupid.

Yeah, because it's now the cornerstone of the Obama campaign, and not just a funny running gag picked up in pundit land and completely ignored by Obama himself. You've totally given this issue a useful and important context.
Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has made yet another embarrassing spelling mistake, the third in a week.
The latest error could be found on the Republican candidate's Facebook page. A clickable button leading to the campaign's store, on the top right of his page, was misspelled "2012 OFFICAL GEAR." Around 9 p.m. EDT on Monday evening, that misspelling was removed.

While the typos themselves are unremarkable, the cumulative effect of them makes me wonder about the organization of his team to at least a small degree. Let me be clear, I'm not jumping on the "Amercia" camp as being anything but minorly amusing but I would like to think anything so public-facing as their mobile apps and facebook pages should at least be proofread by 2 different people prior to being published\authorized. Perhaps his media teams are very de-centralized and have a large degree of autonomy; which is an interesting contrast to Obama's much more centralized control of all communications great and minor. I'd imagine that would make his team both more gaffe-prone as well as more agile.

I got caught out in the US just once asking for an Iced Tea. Turns out some places where everything is wrong and unholy, namely Denny's, will give you unsweetened tea by default. Which, being basically just cold tea, is the worst drink on the planet.
When I got the sweetened stuff it was lovely, and has now spoiled me on the crappy bottled stuff back home, that I used to think was kind of nice, until I tasted what proper iced tea is supposed to taste like.

Seen Catch 22?!
The Catch 22 of watching Catch 22 is that the only way to convince yourself it's a waste of time is to actually watch the thing. Better to just read the book.
I heard Obama and Romney both like cheese. Cheese is a famous product in Wisconsin, which starts with the letter w. W is a letter in bratwurst, which is a food associated with Germany, which had Nazis. Ipso facto, both men are Nazis.
I love how basic logic can be ignored as long as politics are involved.

You expect Denny's to have good unsweetened tea?
That's like expecting McDonald's to have food instead of fried styrofoam.
