Killyhammer. Honestly this is a really killy edition, vehicles get hull points, cover is nerfed, power weapons can be +2 strength or AP 2 and +1 strength, snap fire, 2D6 charge range, allies. In the end it adds up to a very killy game.

Really, 2D6 charge range, and a "spell" section at the back of the book? I thought GW was trying to separate fantasy and 40k...
Snide comments aside, I actually like the 6th edition. I find the rules to be very complex and interesting.

Honestly, I'm gonna call this version of WH40k 6th, 6e, 6th edition, or some variation depending on what sounds right. Where the specific edition is not necessary to mention, I'm gonna call it WH40k, 40k, Warhammer 40k, Warhammer 40,000, or something like that.

Just like I called 5th edition 5e, or 4th edition 4e, or 3rd edition... well, when I played in 3e, I didn't really know about editions, so I just called it 40k...

I don't have any nickname planned out for 6th edition, and while a lot of the stuff in this thread has given me some very nice laughs - in a good way - I don't see that changing for me. I have come to call some WH40k stuff by a nickname, like the Stormraven (I call it the Chibi-hawk cause it looks like a stubby, short Thunderhawk, and it's fun to say, though that nickname was something I read on a forum somewhere), but... I got nothing for 6e.

How about Steve2 ?

Interesting. Perhaps Steve 2: The Stevening.

Steve 2: Steve Harder.

I like where these are heading.

I think that flyers will be the new transports, and Necrons might be the new GK, so I'm thinking along the lines of Flyerhammer or Necronhammer.

I'll call it 40k because it's the new 40k.

All older editions are now games I will never play again.

That is one thing that made almost no sense. They should have had IG as an option at least, but them's the breaks.

But the rest of the rulebook was pretty kind to Nids so you really can't complain.

True. At least you can explain the lack of allies with the fluff. It's certainly making more sense than some of the previous 40k things they've done.

What about... Wait for it... Warhammer 40K?

I find all the "somethinghammer" names exceedingly tedious and douchey. It's like all those de-motivational poster videos on youtube. A ton of folks who saw the first one which was actually funny, then trying to make their own, which are not funny at all.

This "whateverhammer" thing s so f-ing annoying, and not funny whatsoever. It's played out. It's all folks who try to be funny and just failing miserably at it. It's kids-humor.

Sorry about being harsh, but it's the truth.

Not just catgirls... Catguys, too... Me-OW...

But the thing is, they never described whether they're basically anthros, or the more widely-known anime catgirls, or something else entirely. All we really know is that there's a type of abhuman called Felinids.

On-topic, I'm really loving all the Steve stuff in this thread. Some of the best laughs I've had all day.

I really like the idea of 40k and Fantasy starting to drift towards one another. At this rate, they'll maybe even be compatible with each other by the time Fantasy hits 10th, and 40k hits 8th.

And that would be awesome.

Wonderful image of a squad of Tac marines mowing down rank upon rank of infantry. Back when I was getting into this, the 'Warhamer is part of the 40K universe' was still considered kinda canon in my gaming group. I never really liked it in general, but it was fun to occasionally dream up little scenarios that blended the two worlds. Plus, there was the old 'Sigmar is one of the missing Primarchs' theory.
