Well the scaling from 28MM (1" = 5'-0") scale to 1:6 scale is easy; multiply every measurement x 10.
Land Raider hull will be about 80" long, 40" wide and 25" tall. You will have to turn it on its side to get it through most doors...

Ahh guys thanks for all the kind words.... I have actually been a lurker on your forum for ages..... you guys are a MASSIVE source of inspiration.... just wanted to say a couple of things about the figures and stuff....
firstly GAmes Workshop are fine about me making the Marines... They are really hot on IP and know how strict they are but they were cool about my stuff when my friend contacted them for me.
Basically I am not marketing the figures or mass producing them they are not part of any Games Workshop productions. They handmade and has no affiliation to GW. A lot of them I am making for myself but I am making some for folks who want them... I love making them....
This is my Techmarine WIP....
The Warhammer Universe is SO massive!!
These are my Ultra Marines

Just mind blowingly good. They are a wonderful example of adding to the hobby, by going in a completely different direction.
The more I look at these, the more I realise how difficult it is to work at Heroic Scale. The Armour on these guys looks better and more in line with what I would expect.

Necrons would be cool but I am having so much fun with jus the marines at the mo!! I want to do a Chaos soon.... and of course Terminators!!
I have painted a few warhammer figures when my son started getting into it... and I really dont know how you guys do it....
they are sooooo chuffin small.... my dodgey eyes just can work at your scale, but it was great fun...

@Dorgmal Snow , just Superb.
Just as a quick laugh, I saw this one
and it reminded me of Doctor Who.
Joking aside.... I think I speak for almost everyone on Dakka when I say I salute your attention to detail, your tenacity your ability and your commitment.
This model is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot wait to see this one finished!
Oh and any plans on making a TERMINATOR?

Ahhh cheers man... my good friend Manuel, helped me out on some of the sculpting as I am pretty rubbish at that sort of thing... he sculpted the chest eagle and emblems on the pads...
I have nearly finished Titus.. but another friend has just said he has sculpted a head.... I saw it a few days ago and it is EPIC.....

Wow!
Incredibly awesome! I'm in love with the proportions you've given the marines, the balance of slimming and bulk that the armor has at this scale. Your art has a perfect balance of realism and fantasy that's difficult to achieve.
You mentioned your friend contacting GW to make sure it was okay and no violation of IP, but did you or would you offer to display your work for them if they were interested?
60838

Post by: Rogue Wolves
these guys are just increadible, but might i ask do you have any pics of building your first marine before you where able to cast all the cool armor peices??
60838
Post by: Dorgmal Snow
OOOOWWW yes... plenty... Basically a friend Cbob) and I decided a Marine would never happen... so lets build a couple... the bigest decision we had to make was what about scale! 1/6th marine would be about 14 inchs tall... but the re arent many 14 inch bodies nnd they are really expensive... so we built them to fit a 12" figure....
Here are some pics...
I made the chest and shoulder pads... and Cbob sculpted the amazing helmet....
But as you can see the scale was a wee bit out.... but we kept going.... Cbob them made a foot... and the first backpack and a bolter and a chainsword!!! he was really on it
32169
Post by: Rogue Wolves
those are really great! Did you just sculpt all the body peices in clay and cast them? or what did you do?
60838
Post by: Dorgmal Snow
with the basics made the rest was down to me to get cracking on the moulds..... it was then we realised.. the heads just looked way to big... we were gutted...
We found smaller heads worked better.....
Now the project was really coming alive and I decided to remake the backpack....
http://www.1-6th.co.uk/spacemarine/slides/marine144.jpg
I also learnt to shrink moulds... which meant we could use any head we wanted... and also I shrunk the gel to get the scale right....
eventually I remade the bolter made the thighs bigger and the chest armour......
32169
Post by: Rogue Wolves
is that the darthvader unmasked head, or a sculpture of your own?

Still looks like a good start.
EDIT - Forget those Chaos Marines - TERMINATORS PLEASE!!! I know you would do a Spectacular job of them! However if you are going a Chaos Marine could I suggest a 1k Son or maybe a Noise Marine with full on Guitar Siren.

Okay a Terminator bit of background....Terminators are Space Marine Veterans who have earned the right to wear Tactical Dreadnought Armour, better known as Terminator Armour, and serve as their Chapter's greatest infantry assets, each essentially serving as a walking tank. Tactical Dreadnought Armor combines the technological developments of power armour with the sealed environmental suits designed for starship crews that work in highly unstable or corrosive environments such as inside the high pressure casings of plasma reactor shields. It can even withstand the colossal impact of high speed orbital micro debris. Terminators are always members of the elite 1st Company of a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter. All suits of Terminator Armour have built-in teleportation devices which allow them to deploy anywhere via deep strike, although more often they are deployed using Land Raiders. Terminator Squads consist of a Terminator sergeant and between 4 and 9 Terminators.#
THEY ARE THE ULTIMATE IN BADASS
Normal Marine.,,
Terminator Marine
Same size Marine, just in huge hulking armour. They are the absolute Pinacle of the fighting space marines designed for heavy assault boarding actions and Tunnel assaults / being the Vanguard of any assault force.
Probably the most famous terminators are the Dark Angels "DEATHWING", who wear bone white armour to commemorate when a group of Marines (recruited from a North American Indian based planet) returned to their homeworld and found an alien cult and destroyed it almost single handed with only 2 terminators surviving.
As the marines are the same size, it would require you to redo the armour pieces but heads etc would remain the same.
60838
Post by: Dorgmal Snow
Cheers man... cant wait to get some time to start terminators... but I think it will be a few weeks yet

They're awesome as all hell but $400+ is just a little too much for me. Not that I'm saying the price is unfair or anything, for the amount of time each one takes and the fact that you're doing this in your free time I can understand the price point, I just don't think I could afford something like that right now (as I've currently lost my mind and desperately want to collect some of Sideshow Collectibles' 1/6th scale Avengers figures since that movie blew my mind ). The God-Emperor of Mankind.
Basically, the ruler and spiritually leader of every loyal human in the Imperium.
But that was him 10,000 years ago before the current 40K timeline. He was mortally wounded in the Horus Heresy and is sustained only bu an ancient piece of technology.
He is strapped onto the Golden Throne and rules as a corpse from Earth.

The Best Way to describe the God Emperor is "Chuck Norris' Idol", he is literally that badass. Courtesy of 1d4 Chan.... The God-Emperor of Mankind, also known as Tha Emprah, Emps, The Big E and Space Hitler and also sometimes called The great and glorious Mac daddy king of all things awesome is the figurehead ruler of the Imperium of Man in the Warhammer 40k universe and possesses unimaginable levels of manliness. The administration he established continues to govern the Imperium in his name, but it is generally accepted that the absence of the Emperor's proper guidance is what has turned the Imperium into the hellish mess that it is. The being who would be known as the Emperor was apparently born 8000 B.C in Anatolia, making him a Proto-Hittite(Hatti?) probably. He was the result of ancient human psykers (known as Shamans) entering a suicide pact to be reborn into a single individual who would be able to protect humanity from the Chaos Gods. A lot of the Emperor's personal history is unknown, but it known that around the 11th or 12th century, he battled a shard of the Void Dragon in Libya, eventually defeating it and locking it up on Mars, allowing for the eventual rise of the Adeptus Mechanicus. He also masqueraded as many prophets, leaders and wise men throughout history to nudge humanity towards a more ordered society, including Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, Gaius Julius Caesar, Winston Churchill and so on. If this is true, it took their collective minds that long to see that Peace and Love wasn't working and that the only way for anything to go their way was at gunpoint/swordpoint. It is established that the Emperor is pretty much the most powerful psyker alive, humbling even the Eldar, and whilst upon the Golden Throne he guides the light of the Astronomican, basically a lighthouse in the warp, which is run by the power of thousands of agonized psykers. He is tens of thousands of years old and has been secretly guiding humanity from behind the scenes for much of his lifetime. Theories variously suggest that he is also Sigmar of Warhammer Fantasy Battle fame, mighty Thor, Chuck Norris, and Jesus. It is uncertain as to whether or not his internment on the Golden Throne is a good thing; some believe that if he were to die, the Imperium would be truly plunged into darkness, whereas others believe that if allowed to finally die he would reincarnate and return to unify the galaxy once more. Whatever the truth of the matter, Games Workshop are never going to advance the story, so it is mostly irrelevant.

No matter the shallow depth of your fluff knowledge on things 40K. Those marines are over the top amazing. 1/6th was my first scale, one that I still harbor much love for, but I never made it to the level of even your "first draft" marine. GOOD GRIEF THOSE ARE AWESOME!
What bodies are you using? (if you don't mind divulging)

Post by: Dorgmal Snow
ow lookie at that emperor.. an he got lovely hair... wish I had hair... Cheers for the info and background... the more I know the more I can put into my work... its just that the universe you guys know and love is SOOO massive for a learner like me ....
As for the bodies, they are just regular True types... when my friend and I started the project we wanted to make them 14" but the lack of bodies and financial constraints meant that we had to make them 12"...
I have just had an email via my site asking if I could make a sgt centurius of the legion of the damned... SO excited I love those guys..... Hope he goes for it!

Ya might as well stop avoiding it and make a Badass Sister of Battle.
I thought of a way to inprove your Ultramarines.
Sit a small Omega right on top and center of the chest eagle.
Not sure if anyone noticed due to all the custom building but you are one hell of a painter too.
@mwnciboo You forgot AyIatolla of Rockin Rolla.

Ok, these are amazing.
First question, it looks like the armor starts the same, is it a cast from a mold?
Second question, do you sell the castings of "blank" armor?
60838
Post by: Dorgmal Snow
yes the armour is from moulds that I made from original pieces that my friends Stephen and Manuel and I made...

I can't deal with this. Sooo cool. I know this thread is full of people saying that but I just had to congratulate you on these. Oh and that looks like a space marine version of Clint Eastwood. Badass, simply badass. I now know I officially suck at painting and anything to do with making little plastic soldiers.

Ah cheers my friend... Well I had a wee go at painting the 23mm figures like you guys!!! hell they are soooo small!! I did not get very far... painted about a 3rd of an army for my son a a load of orks and that was it... my eyes fell out...

Dude.......I would do everything in your power to get a license from GW and put these badboys on shelves. I for one would buy Brother Stone Cold Steve Austin of the Black Templar Chapter off you in a heartbeat.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted!!!

Unfortunately he wouldnt just need permission from GW, he appeas to be using heads and bodies from other sources. He can always give them as gifts though... he could give me a gift of a space wolf and i could give him a gift of money

Post by: d3m01iti0n
And this is exactly why you see me constantly bitching about GWs lack of merchandising. Remember when I started the 40K action figure thread? THIS is exactly what I was talking about. Petition for license and funding anybody? (If he's up for it of course)

R. Lee Ermey;
PT is good for you, PT is good for me.
Pain is weakness leaving the body. U-rah.
Get on your face and start pushing.
I expect 110% right now, or I will drive your dick in the dirt.
Were you born that fat, or did you have to eat your entire family to achieve those results?
Cellulite!
Well any day sweetheart!
That's right, don't make any effort. I mean, don't bother to go the extra mile, scumbag.
You've got enough blubber hanging off of your fat frame to feed a family of Eskimos for a week.
Put some gas into it, numbnuts.
You move slower than old people %*^*.
Why are you effecting the quality of my life?
You disgust me, you unorganized pile of grabastic ^**&!
