In my case it was more than one. It was probably around a dozen.
Met the girl I had a crush on in high school, I asked her out once and shot me down in a rather painful way. Ran into her 6 years later at the mall today. She now works for some "escort business" in New York.
The good news is, she told me she was available for 4 grand. I may have to start a kickstarter for that.
Not the first time I had a strange encounter with a girl who turned me down.

I was too nervous in HS to ask out most of the girls I really liked, and settled for girls who I only sorta had a passing interest in. The one girl I REALLY liked in HS shot me down when I asked for a single dance at a HS homecoming. We're friends years later, she's married, still gorgeous, but I don't have any romantic feelings left. That said, if she was single and offered, I'd have her on her back with her legs hooked behind her head in seconds, regardless of how public the place was.

I mean this totally un-sarcastically - cool story, bro. Also, cool thread.
I don't remember any flaming wrecks in high school to speak of, certainly none that really stuck with me. I do have a story that is in the same vein, though. There was this one girl though that never missed an opportunity to belittle me, a prototypical mean girl. Why I would have let a blonde 15 year old girl make me feel bad is one of those mysteries that only makes sense if you're actually in high school, I guess; time has removed my ability to understand that perspective. Maybe it did't even make sense then. Nonetheless that's how it was.
So, a few years back, a friend of mine who I stay in touch with mentions that he saw her at an NA meeting. Apparently she got into meth in a big way and her hair was falling out, and she now had "summer teeth".
I thought that was a rather satisfactory end to this story; but about a month ago, Facebook suggester her as a friend for me. I did a google image search to see how time had treated her, minding what my friend had said. I was most satisfied to see the answer was "poorly", as the first 7 results for her were all (different) mugshots from Florida.
--
The one I regret the most was a girl who I fleetingly asked to the prom and she said yes. I had money troubles, as well as other problems, and I wound up not going at all. I sometimes think back and wonder what might have been had I made that happen. She was a really nice girl. I'm more or less happily married now so I suppose I should abandon those lines of thought.

There was another girl that I had a crush on. I loved her wavy hair and dark skin. I asked her on a date, I thought, hell she liked X-Box, I liked X-Box, who cares if she was one of the popular ones and I was one of "those things".
I was wrong.
She even said ewww before she told me no way.
I had a testicular cancer scare not long ago. I went to Pennsylvania to see a doctor, and of all the people to assist the doctor, it had to be her.

no, this was another girl.
The first girl I posted was a call girl. The other was an assistant.
And I just realized something too. Every girl but one I ever asked out is a foreigner. My current and only girl friend is from England.

Married my high school sweetheart.
We dated shortly during my Junior year, then broke up.
Then we dates almost my entire Senior year, then broke up.
Always stayed friends, would go hang out during my college years, were both in serious relationships with other folks as well. Then one day got back together, proposed a few months later, were engaged for over a year, and had our 9 year celebration a few months back.

One girl I had feelings for back in highschool. Because I was something of a social anomaly she threw me in the friend zone less she take a hit on the totem pole of high school class. I eventually got around to breaking those walls down, but by the time I did that she had become something of a monster in more ways than one, and was long past being able to benefit from any help I could give her.
It's somewhat annoying, I go to sleep and occasionally think about the situation, then dream about how things are back to normal, then wake up utterly confused about which version to believe for a few seconds.
Such is life.
Oh, there was also this pretty smokin (if a bit immature) chick that had me in the sack and was all for initiation, but I gave her the cold shoulder because I was too busy focusing on the before mentioned girl. Funny story that.

I tried getting some pussy from this one good looking girl, we got along fine and all and got to know her real well (safe to say we were ok friends hanged out a bit too) but she wasn't comfortable with the idea of a physical relationship so it fell apart plus it didn't help that she had a boyfriend
who she had been with for 2 years at the time (not that I cared for that she had a bf I just wanted her vag).

Le females seem not to be interested in me at all for some reason. I mean, I'd like to think I'm reasonably attractive, and I'm smart (4.0 and a crap load of AP classes), but girls just don't show much interest in a nerd like me. I tried asking one girl out that I liked quite a lot, and I got the "lets be friends" treatment . I'm probably going to just give up in high school and focus on school stuff. Hopefully I'll have better luck in college a year from now.
In fact, the only time I have successfully, I dunno, "connected" with a girl was at space camp, but she lives in fething New Zealand. Oh well, we have interesting gmail discussions every now and then.

I ate my foot, leg, other foot, leg and fist when I tried to ask the girl I had a crush on since 5th grade when I was in my sophomore year of HS. My locker was right next to hers and I was a "nobody" in my school while she was destined to be prom queen. She stared at her locker the whole time and I didn't even get past a stuttering, "Do you wanna," before I just turned around and gave up. I did a foreign exchange program after that and met a girl in that country who became my first gf. When I came back, I found out that my crush was probably the strangest uber christian person ever. Her brother's name was Adolf. I gak you not.

Seriously though, didn't really ask girls out in secondary school. Hit my stride there in university where I went on a being-shot-down spree, but I've not really go any interest in what they're up to now. I don't bear them any ill will, I had an odd tendency to ask out girls I didn't really like for some reason. They were right to turn me down!
Very happy now with my Canadian (ooo, exotic!) girlfriend of several years. Kinda fell arse-backwards into that one.

But 1st year of college-In early winter. Lasted a week then she decided i was boreing. Hurt but not as much as 2nd year we lasted 3 months before her friends finally broke us up(i found that her friends had been trying to get her to dump me for the entireity of the time we had been together) One year after we first met, 9 months after we broke up and we are now back together

I've had the "Ewww, no way." response.
The "Errrr..." and look-to-best-friend-to-get-help response.
The "I don't feel the same" response.
The "He's a stalker" rumour that came off the back of either one of the last two (can't remember which).
And the attempted gentle let-down due to already being in a relationship which, despite the attempt, left me a bit bitter, and because I love her, depressed beyond anything I had been before.
Pretty much 5 years on and I still love her, but she's still in the same relationship. I wasn't sure if she was being serious when I asked her in HS, and she hinted that it might work if she was single, but she was (and probably still is) one of the kindest, most understanding and one of the most good-natured people I've ever met. She's also pretty damn beautiful. The guy she's with is lucky as gak, and I hope he realises that.
Obviously I've tried to forget about her, but it's insanely difficult; although it's not actually interferring much with any other plans to get a girlfriend, because she's the only one I don't seem to repulse, so it's not as if I'm missing out on anything I couldn't get to begin with
But in a way, this is my most crushing turn down, simply because of the effects when it happened, the fact that I'm still feeling the aftershocks 5 years on.

You know what happened to the girls that shot ME down in high school? No clue. I wrote them off and went on with my life.
From what I understand from one of my friends back around the old hometown, most of the people who lived around there never got out of that black hole, so I'd guess that the majority of them probably got married, have kids, and live "Small Town, USA" lives.

The only girl that shot me down during my highschool years was a lesbian in a club. She was cute but later seen her making out with another girl. Oh well she was nice about it.
The only other girl from highschool had/still has a long term boyfriend. But I'm happily married now and am still friends with said girl from H/S as is my wife.
On this topic I had a weird experience in uni where a girl I was friends with was extremely suggestive - up to an almost lap-dance. This went on for a while. Then she found a boyfriend and it stopped. Then she married him. o.O Maybe she was just hypersexed?

The only other girl from highschool had/still has a long term boyfriend. But I'm happily married now and am still friends with said girl from H/S as is my wife.
On this topic I had a weird experience in uni where a girl I was friends with was extremely suggestive - up to an almost lap-dance. This went on for a while. Then she found a boyfriend and it stopped. Then she married him. o.O Maybe she was just hypersexed?
And this was recorded, right?
Right?
I mean, Man Points are on the line here...

Honestly I have no clue what the girl I mentioned earlier is doing or if she looks much different (I'm not a bitter prick who wishes ill fortune on people I had failed relationships with), I know she mentioned being bored of Kamloops and since her parents are divorced maybe she's gone to live
with her dad in Victoria but honesty I have no idea what's going on with her. Also the attitude that you're going to be awesome in the future so you can go boast to the people who rejected you is just embarrassing to be honest.

Roughly. That's before taxes and health benefits. It'll be good to go back as the king.
Why do you care? I never understood this whole mantra of going back to your reunion to show how badass you became. You'll still be ignored as - newsflash - reunions are about talking about "the good old days" of high school memories. No one's going to care if the dweeb made good.
My wife has gone to multiple reunions. She goes to relive some good memories she had with the people she knew.
In contrast I hated high school with a passion and nearly dropped out in my Jr. and then my Sr. year. Hated it and most everyone in it. I never had any desire to go back and revisit the 40 miles of bad road that was HS. Why waste my time?
EDIT: I also can't stand Facebook, but for so many reasons.
Wow, I'm surprised Frazzled has said the most reasonable thing in this thread (I'm not being sarcastic btw).

It was from a movie (comedy - can't remember the name).

I was shot down once in high school, but 1 outta 4 ain't nothing to scoff at... 75% is still almost a D in most schools The one girl that shot me down in hs friend zoned me and would refer to me as her, "Gay best friend who's not gay." So after 4 years ago of still remaining somewhat friends with her I saw a post on facebook. I had stopped hanging out with her in person Senior year of high school, but we were friends on facebook still. So like I was saying, I saw a post on her facebook like, "Why can't I find a good guy..." And some guy made a sappy comment about how he was always available, and I told her that it was probably because she kept friendzoning any decent guy she met. She said I was still bitter about being friendzoned junior year in high school. I then recanted and said it was probably because she was a C ya next tuesday. Which leads into this past week where I got shot down and friendzoned last Thursday (the DCMs know about this gak)... And Kronk made a suggestion (serious or not) to go to a dating site. I took said advice two nights ago to see wtf that sort of thing is. Yesterday while I was at work, the website had matched the girl from high school and I up... I laughed... Still not quite sure if I should initiate contact solely based on just wanting to see if she's still miserable

Or instead of laughing at one's misfortune you could try dating her and find out if you would be a more suitable partner this time around.

I'm terrified of people I like (yet completely unflinching in the face of people I hate...IE, everyone I don't like) so I'm unlikely to start deliberately talking to a girl. And if I do start talking, that's all that I'm likely to do. I'm so frightened of being ridiculed that I try to be as unassuming as possible.
There is this Thai girl at my collage called Mylie or something, and she is really friendly. I have talked to her, but only in a casual "Hello!" kind of way. Besides, I literally only met her yesterday.

I have to edit my post, and don't settle for the friend zone. IF you want something besides friendship, you go for it or you leave it alone and cut ties. Its a hard lesson I'm learning...

Wait, was she showing interest to you on the site or does the site sort of just automatically link people together based on similar values I've never used a dating site so I'm curious.

Without going into the horribly murky and somewhat misogynistic territory that others have gone, I will say that you should ask a girl out if you are interested and move on if that doesn't work.
Otherwise, you will spend way too much time and effort in the friendzone and never actually enter a relationship.

If it's the site I'm thinking about, it shows you potential matches based on mutual answers to a number of questions. It's also fun too look at people that answered less than 5% matching answers to you. Fun, and fething scary!

OK, cause if it's the former (she wants hook up with him) then I say why not let it happen but if it's the latter (matchmaking though the computer) then just avoid her then cause past experiences would probably make things awkward again.

It is the site you're thinking of Kronk
And not only does it show percentage of a match, but it also shows percentage of friendship and enemies as well as focusing it on people nearby you so you don't get matched with someone in like Texas (not that there is anything wrong with that, but the travel time would make an evening out a little rough for me ) Automatically Appended Next Post: it matched us based on questions that we've answered... In high school I started what I lovingly refered to as my bi-yearly rejection schedule. Lasted from when I was 16-25, joined the marines, got married, now I'm getting divorced after 1.5 years of marriage. Looking forward to starting that cycle over again soon.

Best one i got is about grade 11. I was great friends with this smokin hot blond girl, the kind that you could wrap one arm around and grab your other shoulder. So i porked her once and went to ask her out the next day, turns out she had been in a relationship for a good few weeks before hand, to bad her boyfriend was standin within earshot
