Fav American-born actor is easily Gary Sinise.

Fav Brit, probably Ian Glen since he's great in any role, wether he's a good guy or the most sadistic baddy you just love to hate!

She is however a killer actress and somewhat related to my favorite actor

Probably tied with Jason Statham for "new" actors I enjoy (relatively speaking)

With Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson forming the trilogy of actors who I have never seen in a movie that disappointed me.
(Well the 4th Indy movie not withstanding, but I'm firmly convinced that was a hallucination)

Actresses....

Spoiler'd for gigantic image but it's Jessica Biel

I dont actually have a favourite actor, though I admire the talent of some.

There are actors I love-hate. Jim Carrey for example. Magnificent acting range, but gets so many annoying roles.

Robin Williams and Jim Carry...back in the day that is.

I've got a man crush on Jason Statham and Pierce Brosnan too.

If you had said least favorite actors I could have named quite a few more. The past couple of years has really brought some atrocities to the big screen.

Anyway, my favorite actor is Daniel Day-Lewis and my favorite act"tress" is Kat Dennings. I am madly in love with her.

I've been enjoying some Jeremy Irons stuff lately. He's a great scenery chewer. But in general I think the guy who more than anyone will get me to see a movie just because he's in it would be Sean Penn.

That said, I'm not really that into actors or actresses in general, though. Even the best of them are really dependant on the material they've got and the director they're working with. The reason Sean Penn is the most likely to get me to see a movie isn't because he's necessarily a better actor than the rest but because he picks his roles more cleverly, is more likely to be in something good than the others.

So, so true...

I had almost tried to like Mila Jovovich since there aren't that many physical action type actresses out there... Then I found out what a total hyper jumped-up diva-b she is.

However, my one cousin had a super time hanging out with Russel Crowe when Cinderella Man was being filmed. (my cousin was an extra)
He also told me that Oded Fehr is litterly Mr.Super-Nice Guy, and even jokingly apologised for shooting him again and again all night! (from when my cousin was a zombie in Res Evil 2)

I also had a blast hanging out with a couple of the actors from the LotR films during a convention while working as an Outrider at the GW area of the event. Craig Parker (Haldir) is a pretty funny guy, and a couple of us got him hooked into the Space Wolves novel series!
Best moment though was when Craig overheard about how I love swords, and actually asked to spar a bit to see if I was any good!

She's a model. What do you expect really? Most of her roles come from her husband (directs pretty much all of her movies) who apparently has a thing for showing off how hot is wife is.

For actors I can't stand no one will ever beat Will Ferrel. Every time he speaks ugh. Seth Rogan and the usual Judd Aptow suspects make a movie an instant "Don't waste my brief life on this planet"

Right now, probably Joseph Gordon Levitt. Fantastic actor. He's been in a lot of great movies, but Mysterious Skin is probably him at his best.

In the future, I could see Robert Pattison becoming more appreciated. Twilight was garbage, of course, but the guy can be a really good actor when he wants to be. He was amazing in Cosmopolis, and if he can keep that up, I think he could go far.

George Clooney and Christian Bale are also definitely worth mentioning.

As far as actresses are concerned, there aren't really many that are as consistently amazing as their male counterparts are (which makes sense, since there just aren't nearly as many interesting female roles available in Hollywood).

Kirsten Dunst was absolutely amazing in Melancholia (seriously, I can't believe she wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for that), and I'd like to see more of her performing at such a level.

Marion Cotillard is fantastic in just about everything she's in.

And I love the hell out of Helen Mirren.

I couldn't possibly pick a single favorite actor or actress. I'll list a few that I like in no special order.

Jodie Foster; have loved her work since The Accused.

Rachel Weisz: She brings class to her roles.

Denzel Washington: when used correctly, I think he may be the most charismatic actor working. One of the reasons I liked Flight so little - it reduced him, imo.

Liv Tyler: I just think she's so pretty, but also brings warmth to her characters.

Russell Crowe: Nasty fellow, but I love his characters.

Mandy Patinkin -have liked him ever since Dead Like Me.

Emma Stone: Adorable, good comedic timing. Loved her in Easy A.

Salma Hayek - Obviously. My wife loved the snake dance in Dusk Till Dawn.

Tilda Swinton - she seems weird, but the kind of weird I'm into. My wife gives me gak about this pick, calling her "bug eyed at best".

Marky Mark: It's not so much that I like the actor himself - I'm actually sort of indifferent to him - so much as he simply chooses roles well. Mark Mark is rarely if ever in a bad movie, much like Tom Hanks. Hell, I even liked The Big Hit. I just wish he'd reach out to the Funky Bunch since I'm sure they could use some work.

And, sadly:

Porta de Rossi - I have had the biggest crush since Ally McBeal, right up until December, when she cut off that glorious hair. Now she's dead to me.

Christopher Lee hands down. I have never seen anything with him in it that i didn't like. He still beats the pants off anyone even at 90.
Runner up is a tie between Jack Nicholson and Sean Connery.
3rd place goes to Nathan Fillion.

Actress (actual acting ability) - Amanda Tapping
Actress (combo of acting talent and prettiness) - Allison Hannigan or Jewel Staite.
Actress (because shes pretty) - Emily Browning. Cute as a button, haven't seen her in enough stuff yet to know whether shes a credible actress.

He's one of my faves too. He was really weird to watch in Looper due to the prosthetic chin to make him look more like Bruce Willis. Too much uncanny valley going on there.

Varies from week to week, but generally you can’t go wrong with Gary Oldman. Though Liam Neeson comes a close second.

As for actresses, well I suppose it depended on whether we are talking about acting ability or sheer lusciousness. But I would probably say that Eva Green is my dream woman.

Danny Trejo: If he threatened me, I would be terrified. Not many actors can accomplish that.

Actresses:

Rosario Dawson: Sin City and Clerks II pretty well solidified this for me.

There are entire languages that have words that are male or female.

To get butthurt over the term actress expresses profound ignorance.

Indeed, in many languages the basic Verbs, Adjectives, and Nouns all have specific gender forms that change depending on the context. The idea that a word itself can be sexist, or even racist, is just not correct.

Oh, the argument regarding default grammatical gender is hilarious; but not entirely off-base. Masculine is presumed because of past masculine dominance, but whether or not such forms of expression are oppressive remains to be seen.

Mostly correct, but not quite there.

The term 'actress' is presumed to be sexist because, as you said, you would refer to a mixed-gender group of thespians as "actors", not "actresses", historically due to the male dominance of our species. The term 'actress' is not presumed sexist because it highlights their sex, but because it subjugates their sex in exactly the given example. By eliminating the term 'actress' and making 'actor' a unisex term, it eliminates the subjugation of the female sex semantically.

That being said, my favourite actress is Famke Janssen.

Actor is already a unisex term, and has been for some time.

If you really want to push the idea that the word "actress" relates only to traditionally feminine roles, then you may want to back off on claims regarding sexuality and, instead, consider gender.

No-one is getting butthurt (well that's debatable considering your irate post ), chill out. I was merely making people aware that the term 'actress' is viewed by many (including Judi Dench, Meryl Streep and Helen Mirrem) as sexist. Regardless of the semantics.

For example: I dont Blaspheme, i don't do it beause i am Christian, i don't do it because some people find it really offensive. I only use Female Actor because some people find the word Actress sexist. I am being a considerate individual. If you really find that kinda thing 'laughable' i find that pretty ignorant (nice try hijacking that word for some instant attached moral high ground btw ).

No favourites, but right now I'm apparently going through a Sam Neill phase.

Watched In the Mouth of Madness two days ago, Event Horizon yesterday, and I'm downloading Hunt for Red October right now...

Kinda wondering why all the movies he's been in since Jurassic Park 2 seems to be worse and worse...

I don't know, man.

She's like the porn star for guys who are angry at women.

She's doesn't even have that good of a rack for a porn star, with the amount of porn available on the internet you can do better than that Bullockist.

She's got an amazing lower backside, tho. And is one of the few ''actresses'' in the industry who apparently got taste when it comes to lingerie.

But I dislike how vocal she is. And that's usually not something I dislike...

There are very few actors out there that I will outright watch a movie simply because they are in it.. but here goes:

Michael Caine
Clint Eastwood
Paul Newman
Sean Connery
Anthony Hopkins
Bruce Willis

As for actresses, I really can't point to a few, because many have bad roles (or rather, roles they shoulda said no to), or roles that just didnt quite fit their actual abilities.
But one of my current faves is:

Amy Adams... I have a bit of a thing for redheads.

I do have a favourite voice actor - Frank Welker. If you don't know who he is (and everyone should) look him up. Cos he's in almost EVERYTHING. Remember that cartoon you watched as a kid? He's in that too.

Really? I mean... really? She'd try to seduce you and you'd throw bricks at her?

I get that beauty is (partly) subjective, and that she might not make your top 10, but still... I feel she should be a solid 9 in just about anyone's book.

Oh well...

She's has a nice face but has a gakky rack, so she's not a 9 something like a 7 or maybe an 8.

Adrien Brody. I raise you one smexy fether.

And I've actually found him to be quite a committed actor in his films. He was rather good in the Darjeeling Limited, were of course he was fighting off Owen Wilson for Best Nose in the Academy Awards that year...

Its a toss up between him and Sam Rockwell for me. He only wins out because, whilst I probably enjoy Rockwell more, Adrien doesn't comes across as being a nicer person. =P

Oded Fehr is an awesome actor. He made Resident Evil 2 and 3 the best of the group, easily. He also did a great job in the Mummy movie, and was even fun in Deuce Bigalo (terribly movie, his acting was good).

Favorite actors, definitely Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. Favorite actress? It's gotta be Mila Kunis or Natalie Portman. Probably Mila, as Natalie didn't do such a hot job in SW3...

Oded was top notch for sure, but to be fair, Ian Glen was tops in Res Evil 3 as that villan you simply love to hate, but can't help yourself from secretly rooting for him!

The scene where Dr.Isaacs realised the 'SUD' Zombie is about to go postal, slowly walks out of the containment chamber, locks it tight, then watches his two assistants get torn to shreds and then finishes the scene with a look of utter disgust and that little tug on his collar!
He took 'absolute cliche' and turned into epic bad@$$ery!

It was just too bad that movie was his first actual time involving make-up prosthetics... (2-3 hours or so to turn him into the Tyrant, then another pain-filled hour or two to get him out of the crap!)

Transformers THE movie.1986 was the one and only . Bayformers could've been any toyline. I quite like the films, but it could've just as easily been done with gobots. All that needed to happen was a name change. Bay lost me when he said 'no dinobots'. And I don't like the bad comedy - I'm looking at you leboef/wheelie/Devastators balls. And I can't unsee it.

Dog Soldiers is the best british werewolf movie ever made. Possibly the best werewolf movie ever outright. Everyone should watch it.

Serenity is good - might have to watch that one again. Kill Bill - I've nearly seen all of it. It's on my list of catch ups

What I hated about Bayformers (besides the "Twins" - who filled the Jar Jar spot too well) was that there was too much focus on the Humans. Yes it's set on Earth, but I didn't want to watch Shia whatshisname shriek and whine like a bitch for about two hours....That and a lot of other things, but that'll take the OP off topic.

Male Drama. Probably Jack Nicholson. His range may be limited but he is so incredibly watchable.
Male Comedy. Will Ferrell. He's had a few stinkers like any comic but when he's on it is pure gold.

Best duo. It's a toss up between Reno/Oldman in the Professional and Sinise/Malkovich in Of Mice and Men. Both top class films with great chemistry.

Female Drama, without a doubt Natalie Portman. I cannot watch her enough.
Female Comedy. Tina Fey. Is there anyone else close, really?

I remember that movie. Watched it on the Sci-Fi channel back in the day. Had to mute the volume and watch it with captions because the TV was in the family room and it was on after my parents went to bed. My favorite line was "we're low on ammo, use short controlled bursts"...werewolf arm bursts through boarded up window...everybody empties their magazines into the general direction of the monster.

Now you have me remembering all those terrible Sci Fi movies...I was really disappointed when I learned "Rock Monster" was about a literal golem made out of rock. I had such high hopes for that one. And the one about the motion capture suit that came alive in a lightning storm and killed all the people in the video game studio...truly inspired film-making.

As far as the actual topic of the thread, Audrey Hepburn all the way. Her and Sean Connery are the only 2 actor/actresses I actually bother to remember by name and vaguely care about from a "see movies with them in it" perspective. Normally I just watch the role and ignore the person who's playing it.

Actor- Edward Norton

Ever since I saw him in Pirmal Fear I have been a fan and if I know he is in a movie I'll go and see it. His range is exceptional and he does not seem to shy away from small bit parts which I like (his role as the cop in Invention of Lying was perfect if short and sweet).

Actress- Allison Janney/Julianne Moore

I can't decide here. Those are both wonderful actresses in their own right, so I am going to just take a twofer on this one!

That accent!), Christina Hendricks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Tricia Helfer, Alison Brie, Amy Adams, Chris O Dowd (amazing comedic timing), Martin Freeman, Jennifer Lawrence(simply because she's an adorable dork that happens to be gorgeous and talented), Sigourney Weaver, Arthur Darvill, Matt Smith, David Tennant, Tom Baker, Michael Cera, and Naomi Rapace.

...Yeah, I watch a lot of movies and TV shows.
