What's your best kill in a game of 40k? @ 2013/01/29 10:14:31

Post by: angelofvengeance

As above- what are your most memorable kills in a game of 40k?

A few of mine are listed below-

2nd Edition- Blood Angels space marine with krak missile on an Ork Dreadnought (cardboard cut out that came with the game)- took out the legs and it fell backwards onto the Ork Warboss standing behind it and killed him too. Imperium 1 Orks 0

2nd Edition- Blood Angels chaplain in terminator armour fights 3 tyranid warriors and a Hive Tyrant on his own for 3 turns, blinding a couple of them with his rosarius (which at the time was a conversion field that could blind people) killed 2 in the process before being chopped to bits by the hive tyrant's bone swords.

6th Edition- Chaos Lord of Khorne with jump pack tries to hammer of wrath my Dark Eldar Archon, and is killed instantly after being hit with a huskblade. It was almost as if the Archon backflipped out of the way and snicked him across an armour joint as he did so..

6th Edition- Necron Overlord disembarks from his Command Barge before it gets blown up by a lucky shot from a Chaos vindicator. Proceeds to the nearest group of 20 cultists, wading through Heavy Stubber, autorifle, autopistol and shotgun fire without injury. Kills the champion and about 3 other cultists with his warscythe, which causes them to flee- Overlord kills them all in a sweeping advance.

6th Edition- Dark Angels Venerable Dreadnought kills a charging Maulerfiend in close combat with his power fist. Almost as if he shoved it down the beast's throat as it ran towards him lol.

6th Edition - Trollzyn strikes with his Empathic Obliterator during a teaching game with a friend where I'm trying out his Necrons while he plays his Ork army. Wiped out a squad of 20 boyz in a shot.

I will NEVER roll that well again.

6th Edition - I had 1 Biker Nob left from a Warbiker squad. I decide to have him drive up to my opponent's Land Raider Redeemer and try to pop it. I fail.

In the SM player's turn, he shoots that Nob with everything on the LLR...and fails. Then, he decides to have his Captain shoot his combi-melta at me, then try to assault...and fails both. Then, he sends 4 assault terminators at me, that'll hit at I1. My Nob killed 2 before finally going down.

Might have to invest in a Trazyn the Infinite model... Empathic Obliterator sounds fun!

5th edition. My friend deep strikes 500+ points of tricked out jetpack Death Company and Astorath on turn 3 and leaves them in a nice tight group.

On my turn I somehow manage to maneuver to get a Leman Russ Demolisher in LOS and range. I drop the pie plate. Final placement was over the entire unit!

After the smoke clears just Astorath is left all alone, looking a bit confused as to what the hell just happened!

I' ve not had any but I've had two happen to me.
Just my luck hahaha
The first was a single S7 shot from a Nid against my forgefiend destorying it.
The 2nd was when in CC with a 5 man squad of marines my Termi Chaos lord rolled 3 1's for his armour saves. I felt like crying :(

Coincidentally that nearly happened to me on this Sunday just gone.. Brother killed my terminator sergeant in a duel with his champion, got a taste of immortality ( i think it's called anyway) on that one. Killed my company master after the dice betrayed me and caused me to A get a rubbish result on monster slayer of caliban roll, and B miss entirely when fighting his Lord on a juggernaut. Balthasar dies- brother gets dark apotheosis. And that was even with his Preferred Enemy re-roll to wound. Damn..

3rd Edition: Defeated an Ulthwe Strike Force 2000 point army using nothing but a Callidus Assassin.

Complete fluke of a game. Kept them in the same corner, out of LOS of the rest of my Guard army, for the entire game. Callidus killed units, stunned groups of Walkers, and generally caused all sorts of mayhem. I'll never be able to repeat it.

Hrm... one of the best would have to be my latest game with my BT. A few other units shot up a Battlewagon that was carrying Ghazghkull Thraka and his merry band of Nobz. So the player - who is, well, in all honesty a bad player - disembarks the passengers to that Thraka is closest to my table ended. Alas, on the previous turn a wild Vindicator appeared to a spot maybe 12" from where the Battlewagon now met its demise.

So, the Vindicator takes a shot, landing a direct hit. 10 under the plate (all bunched together, instead of trying to spread them out). 7 wounds, meh. So, then the ork player decides to take 4 wounds for Thraka, and the rest for his Nobz. Ookay, sure. So he rolls for his Nobz. All fail, three down. Then he rolls for Thraka. Fails all four. Dead Thraka. 300+ points killed in one blast.

-

Another incident could be where my Ork Warboss and 6 Nobz were fighting a Daemon Prince and Bloodthirster in close combat. Well, actually the DP had taken a single wound from Lootas and then it was finished off by the Nobz, while the Warboss apparently wasn't in range to attack the Bloodthirster that turn because of some nitpicking shenanigans. Then the Bloodthirster challenged the Warboss, who then died before getting to attack. At that point I think 5 Nobz remained and the Bloodthirster was at full wounds, I believe. When the dust settled, I had two Nobz left and the Bloodthirster was dead.

One thing that makes this potentially not so glorious is that in retrospect I'm not sure if the leadership tests were rolled for properly for every turn! While nitpicking about placement and Fear tests, he seemed to forget about those, and in the excitement and given my usual forgetfulness it might've gotten skipped at some point. At least I don't recall even having to use Bosspole at all, and after the Warboss died I only had Ld 7 after all.

You're telling me.

Don't get me wrong - I do not attribute this to some sort of genius-level tactical acumen, or put the victory down to some sort of miraculous natural talent; it was a complete fluke through and through, and will never be repeated.

Way back in 2nd edition, I was down to a single gretchin, and within charging range of a marine tank (probably a Rhino). My opponent said if I got 4 sixes in a row he'd count it as a rare kill, so I did, and the gretchin won .

More recently I've no idea, my guards seem largely useless against terminator armour.

2nd Ed - Bad Moons Nobz mob with heavy weapons hit cyclone missile launcher wolf guard termie, rolls on table and detonates all 12 missiles over cyclone. Kills entire squad. Denying him chance to use that 6" radius Krak missile cheese from firing them all.

6th ed - First outing for new Dark Angels codex, last turn, a LC death wing charges lone surviving Blood Angel devastator denying the objective. 4 attacks, 2 miss. Fails to wound with the 2 hits and fails even with rerolls. My Dev has one attack, hits, wounds and he fails. Ensuring my victory.

This weekend just gone was also my first outing with 2013 Dark Angels. Lost though :(. I hate my brother's Defiler! Just wouldn't go down despite pouring pretty much all of my heavy weapons fire into it.

5th Edition: Mephiston assaults a unit of DE Witches, and wipes them. Consolidates into cover, and survives the next round by making 22/22 armor and cover saves in a row. We counted afterward, he shot 1450 point of his army all at Mephiston and didn't do a single wound.

6th Edition: Tyranid opponent deep strikes in my deployment zone, but conveniently everything is within 12" of Coteaz inside a bastion with some plasma cannon servitors and an Icarus Lascannon on top. Killed the Doom, Deathleaper, and a bunch of warriors. My Dreadknight then proceeded to win a single, simultaneous combat against a Trygon and the Swarmlord, surviving with one wound left.

Back in third edition I played a couple games with my imperial guard, one was the most memorable, against a tyranid player. The opponent had been rule lawyering everyone at the shop and people would show up to his games just to root for the other players.

First turn I placed my orbital bombardment on his hive tyrant, which he said wasn't allowed because other monstrous creatures were closer, so I had to move it onto a carnifex. I missed and the shot scattered directly onto the hive tyrant, who failed three different saves and died(there was much rejoicing by all). He then tried to back out of m having to shoot at the carnifex and said I could target his tyrant but was met by all the bystanders with disapproval.

Same game a couple turns later his hormagaunts charged my infantry, and were short. The infantry all had grenades back when they were useful and them guards obliterated the swarm.

Needless to say he did not win the game, and if I believed in karma this would have been proof to me.

Also same game I really cheesed him off by how I treated my figs. He was a much better painter than I was and took great care with his models. Me I was still trying out guard and didn't like it, so they were transported in a cardboard box in a pile. As I took casualties I would give a quick memorial speech to each group of casualties, something like " you have failed the emperor, back in the box", and toss the about four feet over to the cardboard grave on the floor. They were metal and survived, but he was set off by it .

Against me:

A Blood Angels Dreadnought drop poded next to my bastion and used its frag cannons on it - it blew up and collapsed

I lost: Bastion, Entire squad of wracks with Hormunclus, Farseer and Pathfinders

that was his first shot in the game!

In another game a Battlecannon shot scattered onto vect - failed my Shadowfield and he was instantly killed

Blood angles furioso dreadnaught drop pods 6" away from my pathfinders and flames one of five. Next turn he charges and makes it.... Or would have if overwatch hadn't gone something like this. 4 shots, one 6 to pen, one six for rending, one six for damage roll= one dead furioso dread who killed less than 30 points before death. It was epic

5th ed - Apoc: Broadside hits an building meant to be held as an objective which then goes nukeylar and wipes out an Ork looted wagon squadron and several other forgotten baddies. All that was left was three or so burna boyz
Apoc: PF wielding Gav Thorpe Termis wipe out Draigo's Paladin retinue (Nevertheless they get wiped by Draigo the subsequent turn)
Average: squad of five or six Carbine fire warriors kill 2 TH/SS Termis (one in shooting, one in combat)
Average: Shas'El beats witchblade Farseer and council in combat
Average: Twin-missile TA Farsight bomb literally wipes out half a 1750 IG list (tied game)

6th ed - So far it's been seven-man squad of fire warriors downing a flying Daemon Prince

5th: DE player is telling me about all this cool stuff his Archon (DE codex before the current one) has, including Shadowfield, Combat Drugs etc. My Daemon Prince walks up to him and about 2-3 turns into the game, the Archon is a Spawn.

5th: My Daemon Prince turns a Tau Commander into a spawn during a 750pt game; Spawn charges the Hammerhead behind it, blows it up, and all that are left are two bloated FW units. I only suffered one casualty that game: the spawn, which technically wasn't even mine to start with.

5th: Lictor (prevous Tyranid codex) charges 6 Fire Warriors on the top floor of a ruin. He kills one and takes a wound, kills another and loses his final wound. I imagine one of the FW's rammed his pusle rifle into his Feeder Tendrils and roundhouse kicked him off the ruin.

5th: 6 Harlies charge 10 Fire Warriors, they kill 1 and proceed to get beaten down by the remaining 9 in one round of combat.

5th: 10 Scouts with a PW Sergeant charge a lone Broadside and deal it a wound, the Broadside clubs two scouts over the head with its SMS and chases the rest off the board.

5th: Bargelord charges Vulkan and 5 Hammernators, kills 3 Hammernators and escorts Vulkan and the other 2 off the board.

5th: Triarch Stalker gibbed Vulkan with its Heat Ray in one game, and took off Feugan's last wound with it in another. The masters of melta both melta'd.

6th: Lancetek gibbed a Grandmaster who failed his LO,S!, giving me Slay the Warlord.

6th: Annihilation Barge rolled a total of 4 sixes on 6 dice when shooting at 8 TSons and Ahriman. Only 1 Son and Ahriman survived that attack. A Lancetek then proceeded to blast Ahriman in the face since he was out of LO,S! range.

Best kill? Easy.

Apoc game, IG versus Eldar.

Most of my army had been picked apart by a Revenant Titan. My entire CCS squad had been wiped out from a Chimera explosion and then a drifting blast marker from a pulsar EXCEPT the Company Commander (and his plasma pistol)...

He then proceeded to give not a single feth, pass his leadership test, make just enough difficult terrain to get within range of the titan, hit it, penetrate it, bypass holofields, and then chain react the damned thing into an apocalyptic explosion, nobly wiping himself out and earning every last one of those medals modeled on his chest.

That was the second apocalyptic explosion of the night. I don't think either of us actually had anything left on the board by the end of the game.

Never will I roll so well again.

Only been playing a few months, so my stories are pretty recent.

In my very first non-training game, I got picked apart by DE. One of their open-topped transports full of troops kept coming just within range of my army and firing everything they had. By turn 3, all I had left on that side of the table was a lone Overlord. The DE player, no longer worried about getting auto-glanced by gauss weapons, got a little too close to my Overlord. I assaulted, and ripped open the transport with a Warscythe. The resulting explosion killed all but 2 of his troops, which the Overlord quickly disposed of on the next turn. That's where the Necron warscythe got the nickname "can opener" in my LGS.

Last month, the same Overlord went toe-to-toe with an Ork Warboss. MSS did their thing, the Ork player rolled well to wound, but failed to save. Died right there, on the spot.

I once took over a lascannon emplacement with scarabs, who have a BS of 2, and blew up a Rhino or LR or something with a single shot. Luckiest set of rolls ever!

6th Edition: I was playing against a small Khorne army with lots of bezerkers. I had whittled down one of his squads to about 7, which i (foolishly at time) charged him with 5 tactical marines. I ended up losing two marines while destroying his entire squad of 7 bezerkers (he had MoK and forgot his Ld test for CA), i haven't had that much luck since then, just look at my signature.

Not my kil, but happened to me -
let's set the scenario:
5th Edition-
Playing my Deathwing against some Tau
Turn 6
Opponent had 5 Firewarriors on an objective, I had 5 terminators (2 TH/SS, 3 LC-one with CML) in position to kill them and take the objective, which would have won me the game.

I fire 2 krak missiles into the squad, miss with one, kill a firewarrior with the other - now we are dealing with 4 firewarriors.

Charge in my terminators, proceed to kill 1 firewarrior, he kills 2 LC termies and a hammernator.

Game ends - it is a draw.

5th - BA 10 man Assault Squad deep strikes next to my tanks, rolls perfect placement, decides to fire into the side of the closest Russ with the meltas. Fails. My turn, the turret slowly turns toward them (think "Kelly's Heroes,") one shot, goodbye. Very cinematic.

5th - My IG gun line against horde Orks. Complete bloodbath, all the Orks are dead by the end of turn 3 except for one Nob. We decided to keep playing just for laughs, game ended up going until turn 7 before I finally was able to track down that Nob and kill him, with a Vendetta.

6th - Marbo! Shows up behind a Necron Barge in a Big Guns Never Tire mission. Kills said barge with the demo charge on turn 2, then proceeds to contest the objective for the rest of the game by hiding and making cover saves. Marbo!

6th - Against my Wolves, Herald of Tzeentch on a chariot jumps behind my line to contest my last objective top of 5. One Jaws roll later, and that 5 wound HQ just poofed away. Yes, poofed.

4th ed (I think) Tau vs WhiteScars.

Turn 1 Bikes move up to assault next turn. Tau fire and pin every unit bar one, and then proceeds to wipe out that unit.

Turn 2 Bikes do nothing. Tau fire and pin every unit bar one, and then proceeds to wipe out that unit.

Turn 3 Bikes do nothing. Tau fire pin one of his remining 2 units and wipe out the other unit.

Turn 4 Bikes do nothing. Tau table the WS player.

Would it every happen again? I doubt it.

Cheers

Way back in 2nd edition, my genestealer chaos cult facing off against a "Space Wolves" army made up of 2 units of wolf guard termies, 2 leman russ battle tanks and a gaggle of special space wolves, inquisitor and eldar special characters. After my 20 strong unit of 'stealers came out from a full charge cyclone missile blast using the large template without a single injury, one of the stealers charged a leman russ, hit it in the track and actually was able to damage it and the damage result caused the tank to flip in a random direction. That random direction just happened to drop the tank on top of the inquisitor, eldar special characters and space wolves commander who were gathered in a small group right behind it. Killed all but the commander. The whole store laughed at that one because the space wolves player had a bit of a douchy attitude about playing and most folks loved watching him squirm. Went on to completely wipe out the entirety of his army, which wasn't hard when my single 'stealer unit out numbered his army all on its own and that didn't include the rest of my army at all.

Another 2nd edition thing that really wasn't my kill per se, but just was so funny I had to share. A friend who played orks always gave one of his nobz a vortex grenade, which was all well and good until the first time he used it and it scatter back on to his nob and killed him outright. From that point on this became a standard part of our games. Ork nob would charge out, throw vortex grenade, futz it and have it scatter back onto himself. Was funny the first time, but absolutely hilarious the 7th game in a row that it happened. He wouldn't stop using it because it was just so funny to keep having it happen every game.

In 5th edition when I was running Imperial Fists I had a basic captain who I called Captain Awesome because he never failed in hand to hand combat, ever. Through some quirk of the dice, no matter what he was facing he always won and was unharmed. One game saw him fight and beat a unit of 10 sisters repentia without getting a scratch on himself somehow, and then went on to take out multiple units of dominions and even the SoB commander without a scratch. He eventually fell in that fight, a 3 player game, to a unit of fire warriors and my spectacularly failing all of the saves for his power armor. Doh! Multiple games went on like that with him being near untouchable in melee it was just crazy. He wasn't even especially kitted for it. He had basic power armor, a storm bolter and a single lightning claw, so he wasn't maximised for melee in any way. Sold off most of the rest of the Imperial fists army, but now he will be painted up to be part of my growing Dark Angels force now. Curious to see how he does once he sees the table again.

Good kill?

5th ed: basic 5 Death Company with jmp packs (no gear) charge 10 Thousand Sons marines. Kills them all before they can strike back. I really liked my Blood Angels that day.

Better kill?

6th ed: My Stormtroopers assaulted a Necron Overlord (kitted out with mindshackle scarabs, 2+ save and a 3++ save) to stop him from attacking an objective. They lasted a good 3 game turns of assault, only actually taking casualties from themselves (because of mindshackle scarabs).

My Sergeant then survived another turn alone against the overlord and a charge of Trazyn the Infinite, and finally killed the Overlord, surviving the game as my last model on the field.

I awarded him my special "Imperial Guard Balls of Adamantium" medal, given to a single model each game for surviving the most hilariously overkill attacks.

3rd Edition: Squad of Guardsmen gets obliterated by a Space Marine Dreadnought flamer and a scout squad. A single plasma gunner is left standing. Next turn the gunner passes his last man standing test (3rd you had to take a test every turn at -3 ld (iirc) if he's the last man left of the unit.)

Passed, plasma gunner walked his happy way around dreadnought, shot at rear armor, destroyed the walker, next turn opponent dedicates a whole squad to his annihilation.

In the latest game I played I had three absolutely incredible highlights to my match.

1) My 5-man Deathwing teleported to the field. Shot at and killed some tacs behind a barricade. Took casualties. Whittled down to 1 termie. This single termie then went on to single-handedly destroy a Dreadnought and survive the exposion. He then followed that by destroying a Predator and surviving THAT explosion.

2) My 3-man Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3 bikers) rolled around a ruin and began blasting at a tac squad. Ensued to destroy this tac squad as it's remnants fled into another. Pursued them and killed not only those who fled but the other tac squad too. Then revved across half the battlefield and took out a third tac squad guarding an objective before being laid low.

3) My Interrogator-Chaplain and his tac squad held an objective and survived a game's worth of combat from my opponent's command squad w/ captain and librarian, very big destructful unit. The sarge was the last to die, but my Interrogator-Chaplain survived it all and took out 3 command squad vets, the libby and his Captain.

6th edition: Final game of a local tournament. Last turn of the game.

Move my Daemon Prince up to protect the 4 Immortals sitting on his objective. Shooting phase: let loose with my 2 Annihilation Barges and wreck his Psyfledread, Tesla Arcs out and roll a 6 to hit my own Daemon. Roll a 6 for hits. 5 of the 6 wound. Made 4 armor saves and failed the last one. Daemon Prince dies (had one wound left). Still won the tournament, but that was a sad result for a model that was a champ for every other game.

I was participating the game, but oddly enough, it wasn't my team that killed it...

Playing an Apoc game, its 3K per player, 6 players. Anyway, one player brings a Reaver Titan out. Another player is using orks. Hilarity ensues.

I'm playing my IG, and I've been pounding this titan with everything I have with little to no effect. Return fire from the said Titan has been obliterating a platoon of infantry per turn. Its now game turn three and its their turn. The Ork player, on the same team as the Titan, is using an attack or something that if failed, opens some kind of rift that sucks anything within 6 inches into it destroying everything it touches. He had to roll a series of ones to get it to happen... and he rolls a series of ones. Came out to something like less than 1% chance it would happen. He just happens to be standing under the titan, right next to its one of its legs when this happens. Instantly, because a series of bad rolls a 2500 point TItan is sucked into the warp to never be seen again. I thought I'd see a grown man cry over a model for the first time ever. In the end we all laughed about it. Oh we finally won by the way...dang ole Titans.

5th Edition. Lady Malys is usually pretty useless against T4+ in combat, being only strength three. Apparently, someone didn't tell her this that game. She:

-Charged a unit of Genestealers, taking 1 Wound but killing 4. She then caught the rest in a Sweeping advance.
Next turn she was charged. She killed 3, took another wound in return, and then swept the rest... again.
Finally, it came down to Malys vs Deathleaper. Malys struck... kills Deathleaper, who was on full wounds. Deathleapers goes at the same time... kills her in revenge.

Total kills: 16 Genestealers - 224 points, and Deathleaper.

One day she will beat Abaddon in a challenge, it's just a matter of time.

The first one was finding my opponent's(one of my friends) Kharne the Betrayer out in the open(and by himself) and just within 48" of my las cannon devastator squad. I fired the squad at him and instant killed him. My friend still hates it when I reffer to las cannons as sniper rifles.

5th edition:
I dropped my fire dragons with a wave serpent next to a land raider with five TH/SS terminators inside and blew it up(no casulaties). Opponents turn, the fire dragons are shot down by something else, and the terminators assault the wave serpent. It explodes and causes four wounds. My opponent rolls and gets four 1s.

This is the same guy that, on the first game in which he used his Emperor's Champion model against another friend's nids, the champion got assaulted by a squad of hormagaunts. There were four hormagaunts left, which were able to cause two wounds. At this point he says "well, the only way for him to die is if I get snake eyes". He picks up a box and rolls the two dice, and the look in his head was priceless when he sees that he actually had rolled snake eyes.

6th edition:
One of my first games in 6th, playing against marines, the only significant threats remaining were two dreadnoughts. I concentrated most of my heavy weapons on the closest and could only get one hull point off. I then remembered I hadn't used one of Eldrad's psychic powers, so I used eldritch storm which took another hull point and turned it around, and my dire avengers were then able to get the last glance by shooting the back armor. In the next turn, the other moves in to assault my wraithlord. Overwatch, the missile hits, penetrates, and it explodes

Was running the Assault Squad with attached jump pack Chaplain back when that unit was good, you could get Furious Charge from space marine chapter traits. Veteran sergeant with power fist. This unit is in a momentous combat with a Bloodthirster. The Chaplain and squad manage to get the greater demon down to 1 wound. I believe the Chaplain was killed. The sergeant swings last with his power fist and of course inflicts 1 wound. The Chaos player fails his save and by now of course a crowd had gathered around my table and erupt in cheer for the victory! This was at the GW.

Very inspiring. I imagine the sergeant activated his jump pack and just went for that kill shot on the demon's twisted skull for that last hurrah!

Generally, I find myself on the receiving end of these kills, I'm not bitter though because my 'deaths' I've suffered are amongst the funniest and best times I've had in 40k.

First and foremost, Brother Captain Stern. I played GK back before their codex updated, and for large games always tried to use good ol' Stern. He never did much for me, but he always had special ways to die such as the following:

Shot to death (along with 4 accompanying terminators) by a barrage of Grot pistols.

Beaten to death in melee by Grots.

Beaten to death in melee by gun drones.

Squig'd. And (I believe we got this wrong) we were in a scenario where units recycled. We decided that once the squig died, Stern could recycle. Squig dies, Stern comes back. And is squig'd again.

In addition, more recently my Saint Celestine has been having a hard time. Not to any opponent, mind you, but to the horrors of windows and walls. In one game, she was shot down to 1 wound when I rolled poorly to soak up overwatch fire. Seeking cover after the combat, I jumped Celestine and her girls into cover, where the Living Saint promptly smacked into a window and died. Next turn, Celestine rises to her feet with 1 wound remaining, jumps out of the cover and (you know where this is going) smacks into the same window going the other way and dies.

In 6th edition I had one group of sister retributers armed with heavy bolters kill 2 daemon princes of khorne. One was with rending during my turn. The other was by overwatch with his 2nd assaulting in. Much anger from my friend who already has confidence issues playing.
Not killed by my hand but we were playing 2500 points his chaos/CSM army epidemus list vs my sisters. Playing with artifacts. One was a huge giant purple.....crystal... Yeah that's it. Well epidemus deep strikes with about 800 points of units with him and scatters right onto the crystal. Artifacts being impassible terrain he rolls for mishap. Rolls a one. Epidemus got impaled by a giant purple... Crystal. Game ended quick with almost 1000 points gone on turn one.

Back in 5th ed watching my brother play his Orks vs. Blood Angels. Blood Angels had 5 Death Company plus Reclusiarch fully kitted out, Jump Packs, Power Weapons etc. Death Company fail to charge through difficult terrain, only needed a 4 or so, so they are sitting in front of a squad of boys. Orks fire 2 Rokkits at the Death Company, both hit, both wound, AP3 and instant death so no FNP. 90 points of dead Death Company. Orks then charge and finish off the rest.

All of my really well remembered kills are from 5th Ed.
1. I was playing as IG and had the commander from the CCS kill off a bunch of deffkoptas by himself.
2. I was playing my SW and had a Lone Wolf kill off 30 of the little tyranid guys (termagants IIRC) alone.
3. Same Lone Wolf from earlier killed off Castellan Crowe alone.

That is about all I can really remember fairly well.

My favourite to date wasn't a huge one, but it had a quality to it that I loved. It was a big multi-player free-for-all with the Black Templar, Space Wolves, Dark Angels (me) and Orks all having at it.

Around turn three my Deathwing Knight squad is engaged by a Lone Wolf. Being Space Marine uber-mensch of honour, he immediately throws down the gauntlet and my Knight Master gladly accepts the challenge, to relive the duel between Johnson and Russ.

The Lone Wolf is armed with dual lightning claws and wearing terminator armour. The Knight Master is armed with the usual flail. So neither of them can pierce the other's armour. The Lone Wolf is quicker, with more attacks at his disposal, the Knight is stronger and wounds with ease (interesting inversion!). The combat lasts for 3-4 turns as battle rages around them (the rest of the squad is engaged by Black Templar... but I will get to that later as it involves the other Space Wolf duel that game). The random turn limit keeps going and they keep fighting. Until he finally lands a telling blow on the Knight Master, who finally fails a save. But he has taken a wound as well. The whole table is holding their breath. The armour save turns up a '1'. He rolls FNP with another '1'. And so, in the failing light of the battlefield (Night Fighting set in during the last turns) both warriors fall to the ground. Manly cheers were shed, scotch was drank and epic songs were told of these two epic fighters who dropped everything to prove to their rival who was the best on the field of battle.

But this awesome success was preceded (in the same bloody game) by a fight that was equally epic in scope. You see earlier in the game (turn 1 in fact) one of my Deathwing squads was charged by another Lone Wolf. This squad contained my Librarian in it. Once more, the challenge was thrown down and like a true Dark Angel, I accepted. Force stave vs. twin lightning claws. They battled for several turns, each one was down to one wound. But then the honourless Black Templar rolled in and fired in to the melee (since it was a 4-way free for all we house-ruled this in). The Lone Wolf was riddled with shots from the LRC (and the squad inside it) and he finally failed that last save. His blood spattering over the face of the Librarian. The Black Templar wade in and issue their challenge (the Emperor's Champion is in the unit!). Still pissed in the extreme, the Librarian fires up his force stave, takes a swing and the Emperor's Champion's head explodes in one hit (one hit on a 6, one wound on a 6, failed save on a 1).

Let this be a lesson to all, never get between a Dark Angel and a Space Wolf when they are duelling. Neither take kindly to it and I'm sure we can all agree brains belong inside our heads.

5th: Emperor's champion, assault termies, and helbrecht charge abaddon and his terminator champions. Helbrecht wipes most of the termies, then he and most of my termies get their face punched in by abaddon. The combat lasts for rounds, with the last TH/SS termie and the EC whittling him down, resulting in abby finally killing himself with his daemon weapon. The best part was that it was a team game and we let the eldar player fortune abaddon.

5th: Emperor's champion and two terminators (not sure if they died) make it across the board against tau. At this point, there are maybe 4 marines other than them left on the table and a huge blob of kroot. The EC makes all his saves after doing two wounds, and sweeps the kroot. That was an enjoyable game for me and my opponent, especially since it was so close.

6th: Dante deepstrikes with a squad of SG next to some flyers, and the SG get wiped by the guard army. Over the next two turns dante infernus pistols a vendetta and tears the other apart after it hovered.

6th: My Master of Sanctity (TDA, Thunderhammer, Lightning claw) and a space wolf HQ (with the eternal warrior thing and a frost blade in addition to TDA) are in a challenge. The space wolf squad also had one of their chaplains so they were fearless. It ended up with my opponent's lord killing mine, but the 5 or 6 turn combat was epic and worth the time.

5th: In a last ditch effort my 10 tyranid Gargoyles charge a unit of 3 broadsides. I get seven wounds. My friend makes his saves, ROLLS SIX ONES. He threw away his dice after the game

6th- GK Grandmaster and his 5 man Strike Squad vs 10 strong fortuned/guided Wraithguard with Eldrad. He tries to assault me first and fails, I assault him and make it, but lose 2 strikes to overwatch. Grandmaster Challenges Eldrad and he accepts. Eldrad goes first, I make both saves. I go next, cause exactly three wounds. Eldrad fails his 3 3++, rerolls them, FAILS THEM ALL AGAIN and DIES. With no more runes of warding Grandmaster and last 3 strikes proceed to wipe out the wraithguards in the next turn.

I don't get to play very often so this may seem lame to some but hey to each is own...

5th edition; Vanilla Dex: My tac squad has just been ripped up in the previous shooting phase but was out of assault range. The squad went from 10 to 3. Only 3 left, Sarg, ML and a bolter. The SM with the ML hits a Chaos Landraider loaded with Terminators. Rolled and made Pen. The Damage roll resulted in an Explosion result. (I rolled 4 6's in a row for that attack and damage.) On top of it my opponent failed all 5 of his Terminators Bailout rolls.

Those fallen sons felt the Emperors wrath on that dice roll. I did go on to loss that game however, but that was quite a memorable moment.

In a game of Apoc we had two very nice things happen:

1) Chainreaction o' doom

We were playing Orks,IG and SW versus Crons, Grey Knights and IG. Our Ork player fielded an Ork bomber which bombed an Immortals squad into oblivion. Not overly amused, the Necron player shot it down right away in his turn and that was where the fun started:

- Ork flyer gets shot down
- we place the template for the crashing flyer
- it lands on a Pikkup nearby
- the pikkup blows up, but due to it's special rule it speeds right into the squad of Immortals that shot the flyer
- explodes there
- kills almost al Orks inside and Necrons outside
- necrons then fail morale and run away, obviously too scared to stay around and find out what further shooting would do against Orks

2) Bug squashing

The Ork player had chosen the strategic option that lets you place a 10" TK template which scatters d6 feet (I believe we were more scared of that thing then our opponents )
We chose to target it on a 50 man blob in the far corner of the board(as far awy from us as possible) and it scatters 3 feet into the middle right into an empty space. Well, almost empty.
In the exact center of the template was a lone Tomb Stalker which had carefully manouvered there to avoid it being shot to pieces

Man, I really need to play Apoc again...

I killed a wounded Titan in an apocalypse game with a single Sister Repentia on the charge, after the thing had wiped out pretty much everything else on the board.

Actually my best shot was in 2nd Ed, when crazy things could happen with vehicles. I was playing Guard against a combined Blood Angel/Ultramarine army. Looking at my selection of targets with my Basilisk I could only see some Assault Marines. Back then Basilisks fired twice in the shooting phase, so you'd hope to hit with one and miss with the other so it'd scatter somewhere. It did just that, and thinks quickly went haywire.

The first shot hits the Assault Marine and the four guys standing around him. They all die. The shot also clips the track of a Land Raider. The Land Raider flips (essentially destroying it) and lands on a Marine with a Missile Launcher, killing him. Best first shot ever, but that wasn't the end of it! The shot that missed scattered and hit a Land Speeder. Land Speeder goes out of control and crashes into a Dreadnought. They both explode. The explosion causes the other Land Speeder to go out of control and it crashes into the Marine's only Techmarine, blowing him to pieces (and the Land Speeder exploded on impact).

The Marines didn't have much fight in 'em after that!

I had an opponent's necrons shift his Warriors + 3 HQs (the Guy with the Body Guard and his Body Guard, + an 3++ Lord) and scatter into a 5man combat squad who where cowering in a set of trees.

In a time that I actually did the killing, my first game of 6th. I was playing a Chaos Player who was enjoying the new Nurgle + Biker rules.

His HQ is as Nurgle Biker Sorceror. He solo charges it into a combat squad. I issue a challenge, the Sergeant determined to sacrifice himself to save his Battle Brothers.

He's using a Force Axe, so the brave Sergeant swings first. He connects with 3 of his hits, and manages to wound the Nurgle Sorceror twice.

I'm pretty surprised. Normally my sergeants go down like wet potatoes, and my dice hate close combat. Just as I get ready to pull my model (who fails two armour saves at once?) he rolls, and fails both armour saves. My Sgt had managed to do it. Slay a Nurgle Biker Sorceror in one round of combat.

Sgt. Badass still leads squads to this day, battling all sorts of enemies and winning. Despite his red-helmet(shirt) handicap.

My Dice made up for it a little while later by dying horribly to fire warriors.

I've had a few good luck kills, too, like a snap fire lascannon taking out a Niphilim, Bolt Pistols taking out the rear armour of a Vendetta, and a few first turn Land Raider kills with a Vindicator after I've seized the initiative.

This one happened in 5th

After an incredibly good turn of shooting in a kill-point game, All I had left was the Emperor's Champion. Solomon(he has been named after a soon to be mentioned kill), proceeds to hack, slash and stab his way through 55 Guardsmen, an LRBT, his Primaris Psyker and 2 ogryns before the game ended. I won 8-7.

These next two happened in 6th

The afore-mentioned Emperor's Champion kills a Wraithlord. In single combat. Without dying. 'nuff said.

My Master of Sanctity gets charged by an Overlord with CCB, Warscythe, MSS and pretty much anything else you can think of. This duel lasted 4 turns. He failed the MSS ONCE! I think The Master of Sanctity killed him about 3 times. Only took 1 wound in return.

Using the old DE codex in 5th edition (before the new one came out), my Jetbike Archon and a Great Unclean One fought each other the whole game. With the Archon finally winning on the bottom of the last turn.

Epic.

I just couldn't fail a shadowfield that day. Took a long time to get through all those wounds though. He came down turn 1 and I just wanted to tie him up while my army zoomed around, didn't think the fight would last that long. I could have sent in some wyches later on, but by then pride was on the line.

New CSM codex, new luck. Picked up my plague marines. Fighting against dark eldar. 9 of 10 men got shoot down and failed every save roll. The last man stands there and survives 3 turns of shooting. Then a unit of harlequins gets into cc range. "Okay chums lets do this, PLAGUEEEEE MUHREEEENNN!" charges into cc, kills 2 harlequins, survives for two additional rounds and kills all the harlequins. I lost the game but he was the last dude, defending his mission point. He got promoted to plague champion.

4th Ed- Turn 1, hunter seeker missile on rhino (infinite range, always strikes rear armour) hits an ork trukk containing Gazghull and heavily armoured nobz. Causes an explosion, kills three of the nobs, Gazghull then spends rest of game trying to play catch up to rest of his army, and is eventually killed before getting into CC

6th Ed- Making jokes with buddy about assault cannons rending vs vehicles prior to game. Face mech marine list. Hit Landraider with terminator assault cannon, rend, penetration, explosion. Kills 2 terminators I think. They then spend all game trying to get to my lines.

Ok so its a kill points game. Me and my opponent are tied for points. He has two black templars terminators left, a regular one and a castellan. I had only 1 single catachan guardsman left. I rapid fired my lasgun at the termies. I didn't think I would hit. I rolled a five and a six to hit and to wound I rolled two sixes! He failed his look out sir save, and both armor saves! He rolled ones! So my catachan guardsman killed them and won the game for me! Also winning that game meant me getting 2nd place in the tourney. Best kill Ive ever got. I know this one isn't 1 kill... but I think it has to count:
3rd Ed:
Spoiler:
Archon with Agoniser and her Retinue of 4 Incubi and 6 Warriors starts the game flanked by something like 2 raiders of Wyches, 4 squads of warriors on foot and a Ravager. It was an storm-the-bunker assault mission, he had less points than me, but had 2 bunkers and a small trench system to deploy in.
End of turn 1: I've killed everything outside of his bunkers, in return he's wiped out all but the Archon an Incubi and 2-3 Warriors - the result of an excruciatingly painful set of rolls, where my saves were effectively non-existent.
Turn 2 - I figure it's over, I have all of 4-5 models left, so I figure bugger it - lets go for it anyway! I lose the warriors, I move the Archon and Incubi closer.
Turn 3 - The Archon and Incubi survive and move closer!
Turn 4 - She and her Incubi reaches the first bunker, she rolls, she makes it with her Agoniser a glorious roll, the bunker collapses and kills all the Marines inside thanks to the Bunker Rules for the scenario!
Turn 5 - She starts heading towards the second bunker and the last of his marines to try and do it again.
He gets a little worried, tries to get his marines out of the bunker (needed a difficult terrain test to do it - had to roll higher than 2, he rolls a 2), so he tries to shoot me down. The Incubi buys it, the Archons Shadowfield goes down.
Turn 6 - She reaches the bunker, and fails to smash it. I figure she's going to die but it was a good run.
Turn 7 - He fails to escape, he actually fails to kill the Archon, who promptly punches the bunker to death.
Tabled him with 1 model left, after losing near the whole army turn 1.

5th ed, post new DE dex release - I forget who it was exactly, some Marine character - this guy went on and on and on about him, before the game going on, so I said 'sure, I bet I can take him'. All through deployment, about how hard this character is, how nothing can or has ever killed him, that he'll kill anything in CC, blablabla.
Turn 3 my Talos jumps off the roof of a building on him, the character fails to do any damage and he dies to the Talos' in one round of combat. Like a bitch.

6th ed... nothing jumps to mind...

In one of my first 6ed games, I had a vendetta get shot down over an enemy motor pool.

It proceeds to crash on to an enemy Punisher, which explodes, and my sole surviving soldier proceeds to march across the table plasma-pistoling random marines,

Back in 5th ed, I was fighting some Blood Angels, and this sole sanguinary priest was running around with a plasma pistol hitting my tanks in the rear and blowing them up; his squad had all been killed off, but he remained.

The solution: Charge the company command squad! Single hit from the commander's "power baton" (used the baton arm for him, no swords, guns or actual weapons on the model) one-hits the priest, ending his reign of terror. Satisfying, if not overly dramatic.

When I first got my Blood Angels army, I was playing with a friend against his IG. I moved my Storm Raven with beacon in between 2 of his units that were in cover and on turn 2 I deep stuck both of my Redeemers in on each side and machine spirited the flamers on the sides wiping out both units. Of coarse when I brought them in deep strike he responded with "You can't deep strike land raiders!" and then showed him the dex. He was not happy but I reminded him that I did tell him before we started playing but he didn't listen.

3rd Ed- Vet Sister Superior killed a Carnifex in close combat with a power maul and bolt pistol.
5th Ed- Pink Horror unit with three remaining models killed Commisar Yarrick five times after he charged them during the course of the rest of the game. Bugger wouldn't stay dead!
5th Ed- Daemons against IG all castled up. Three Lemans packed tightly in a row with two squads of veterans amongst them. Two units of three flamers land on either side, shoot the Leman in the middle. Nobody made it out alive.
6th Ed- 27k APOC game, first turn, Sternguard Vet squad drops in 5" from the rear of a Throne of Skulls. First combi-melta shot, a long string of Sixes, Throne blows up S10 at max range, killing 42 of my own Marines, three drop pods of my own, two of another Marine players, everything in those. Took out four Ork trukks full of boys, 8 Nob bikers, two Chaos dreads and one Chaos Predator. Left a really big, sad, empty spot on the table...... Was frickin cool!

5th edition, CSM vs. DE.

First turn, I start. Chaos Dreadnought with lascannon in one corner. DE Ravager, the most expensive and lethal unit on the other team, in the other corner, 40-ish inches away.

Pass Crazed test. Feeling cocky so I just pivot my dread towards the big Ravager. Clear LoS.

Penetrating hit, followed by a

Kaboom! Ice cold!

I was playing a game against eldar a few weeks ago, using my world eaters. After fighting off a squad of those eldar guys who have stealth and/or shrouded (i dont know eldar very well), I had 1 berserker left on an objective in combat with some dire avengers (I think that's what they're called). He charged in with some of those guys who all have melta weapons to try and finish him off quickly and get me off the objective. Through sheer luck of dice rolls my lone berserker killed all the melta guys and about half of the dire avengers before being taken down on the last turn.

I have two really big memories that will always last with me.

5th ed: Team battle shortly after GK codex came out, me and another GK player versus 2 marines players and an ork player. If the GK survived they would win. The ork force was a mek list with Big mek, 2 deff dreads, and 3 of the small ones, and some ork boys i think. The marines had loads of tanks and troops. Me and the other guy had an inquisitor with daemonblade, couple of termi squads, interceptors and dreadnaughts, and Draigo. Draigo gives counter attack to Dreadknight. First term, inquisitor's henchman squad wiped out, and Dreadknight down to 1 wound. It then kills the following both Deff Dreads, all the 3 smaller ones, the big mek, all the boys, a vindicator and a land raider. It was armed with heavy incinerator, gatling psilencer and greatsword. It took down all the vehicles in one round of combat. the inquisitor got lucky btw and got EW and FNP, even when hit by the crazy big mek gun.

6th ed: This was a game that happened on last saturday. Team battle, DA, Tau and IG versus IG, Ork and BA. DA terminators led by Belail first turn drop down. they survive a pounding, about 15 armour saves. Then go on a rampage and kill a basilisk, ork loota squad, a dev squad and a IG vet squad. All for the loss of one man. On the other side, i had a 5 man tactical combat squad, down to just the sergeant. He decides to go kamikaze against a 9 man strong IG vet squad. No wounds in overwatch, charges and gets in. Challenges, it s turned down. He gets 3 attacks and kills 1. They fail to wound him, they fail the leadership, run away and he catches them. He then next turn got steamrollered by some orks but meh.

The other funny game moment is a GK dreadnaught instant killing Belial with a fist to the face, and the inquisitor from before taking on a DA terminator sarg, down to one wound before killing him with the daemonblade (powers being no armour saves and gets wound back for every wound caused).
I will say though, that the last two things happened when I played against myself and sort of biased the games towards the GK's.

OMG 2nd edition was the best. So many good stories. I remember my brother had a character on a bike, chaplain maybe, using a virus grenade that took out over 1500 points of my friend's Ork army, first turn IIRC. It's been almost 20 years, haha.

We used a lot of terrain with varying heights, and the vehicle rules back then... we had tanks flying off cliffs, it was ridiculous.

I remember a game of Epic Space Marine, I had a Warlord Titan Battlegroup and some support vs a Space Marine army. One of the Warlords took a pounding in one turn - all void shields gone, every weapon that had a LOS fired at it - but it was still standing - no damage, unscathed! Then, literally, the last unit fires. It's a Space Marine Apothecary stand. 15cm away or so. One die, hits on a 5+. It hits. Location? Head. Oh, the Warlord is fine; it's head has a 1+ save (in Epic, that means always saves unless modified). Oh, wait... the Warlord he was shooting at, I had a Titan Weapon Head modification on, so it's save is 2+. I roll a 1, the shot penetrates, and he rolls a 6 on the damage chart, destroying the Titan utterly.

A single Marine Apothecary fired a single bolt pistol round and dropped a fething Warlord Titan.

A unit of Seraphim blow up a transport containing a Chaos Lord and his bodyguard. Expecting them to die next turn, I use the act of faith that makes their save invulnerable. The Lord charges, daemon weapon swinging--

--and somehow when the dust settles, none of the Seraphim have died, but one of the bodyguard is killed. It gets better, as the squad fail their leadership check and flee, taking the Lord with them (the reason we gave was he was chasing them to personally punish them for their cowardice). The Seraphim chase them, and somehow wipe them all out.

2nd edition: My friend was running Tyranids. I was running Orks. I had set up an artillery battery of Ork hop splat guns. They fired a cannon ball with a chain attached, with another cannon ball on the other end of the chain. They used to bounce around and hit things until you rolled a misfire on the hit/misfire dice.

I set the artillery battery up on a hill with a very high rock face. My friend had moved his Genestealers up to the rock face and started climbing them. He had just enough movement to reach the top of the cliff face with one genestealer before he got one more turn and the game would end.

In my turn I spun the hop splat gun around (you could do that right before firing back then) and shot it at the Genestealer.

It flew forward, hit nothing, flew backward, hit the gretchin crew, I rolled a 1 to wound him, it bounced again and hit the other gretchin crew, I rolled a 1 to wound him, then it bounced forward and hit the Genestealer, and I rolled a 6 to wound him. It killed the genestealer, then flew down the hill, and bounced into a unit of tyranid warriors killing one of them too before it finally stopped bounching!

Everybody's face looked like this

Turn 3, my Killa Kanz assaulted a full squad of fearless Eldar who were without grenades or power weapons. They had kill my entire 20 boy squad within a turn.

I want to say they were Banshees, but from a search I did to make sure this story was 100% accurate I don't think it was them. After my Killa Kanz assaulted they killed one guy a turn locking them in combat. It wasn't a kill but it felt great that grots in tin cans could keep these guys occupied forever. He physically couldn't dent me but fearless kept him in combat.

5th edition, I raced a unit of Death Company with an attached Libby into my friend's Nightbringer (1st time facing a C'Tan) and the Libby killed him immediately (S10+force weapon). The NB, of course, detonates and wipes out the DC. No, my friend never informed me of C'Tan abilities.

Another game, Skulltaker went toe to toe with a C'Tan as well, and chopped the damn thing's head off. He was banished to the Warp due to the explosion too, but damn did he bring back a nice trophy. During that same tournament, he also claimed the heads of two carnifexes and a couple zoanthropes, so he had a good day. He died painfully to the CSM player though.

5th edition: 10-man Assault Marine against Crowe. Crowe attempts to cleansing flame, but did nothing to the squad. He used rapier strike, but only got maybe at most 2 marines despite rending on 4+. Str 5 thanks to Crowe giving furious charge to the squad that charges him. He failed one armor save before sergeant came in. Died after sergeant sealed the deal.

Also had Dante and his Sanguinary Guard squad wreck his Psybolt riflemen and two squads of purifiers as the game went on.

6th edition: Despite losing all my black knights and my bike librarian alive with barely 1 wound, Quad gun+aegis defense line+2 tactical squads pretty much held both points. The bunker killed a squad of warriors and a raider. The black knights killed another raider and majority of the Wych squad. The last black knight killed off the ravager with one hull point with his plasma talons. I felt bad that the bunker did better than I expected.

Game went on to turn 5, my 10 RR finally charge his command squad with Maneus in it, they kill the command squad but die in the process. Probably the best thing I had seen in 3 years of using them, they would always die really quick.

6th ed: Charged the cheese that is DA Termies, 8 of them TH/SS with Belial, charged them with 10 nobs with Big Choppas, I hit with 18 hits, I wound with 18. =) needless to say that the impossible happend. I can only remember a few golden moments, all of which during 5th Ed

1) Ironclad Dreadnought drops in to take on some Guardians. CC goes very slow since I can't seem to kill them fast enough. So my mate charges in his Wratihlord. In turn, my Ironclad turns around and promptly smacks the Wraithlord down in one turn. So he charges his Farseer and Seer Council, a couple armed with Witchblades. So the Ironclad whacks them down too. In the end I managed to kill the sodding Guardians. When the dread left combat he was the last unit alive and got a Fire Prism lance to the face.

2) Warboss with PK and other gubbinz charges a Dreadnought. Thanks to cybork he last's out the Dread's CC and rips holes in the Dread. Next victim

3) Lost a Commander in my early days of playing SM. My army was a mess at the time but regardless, I had a decked out Commander - 2+/3++ and all sorts. A Krak missile is fired at him. Now I did forget Krak was AP3 so I took the invun save. I got a 2 - Commander when boom. Shortly I remembered Krak wasn't AP2 and was AP3 so I should've got my armour save. So I rolled for fun to see if that would've saved me - nope, I rolled a 1. That model hasn't really seen combat since.

I will never forget when in a recent game (my Salamanders vs. Farseer14's Eldar), I had been just about tabled by turn 5 of a single objective game. Then Vulkan decided to go HAM. Over the course of 4 turns (yeah we played it out until he died) he killed a Forgeworld Wraithseer, a pair of Wraithlords, a handful of Dire Avengers, some Wraithguard, and the Dire Avenger Exarch in a challenge. My personal favorite moment happened when Vulkan stood uncontested on top of the objective after killing the Wraithseer and Wraithlords and the Dire Avengers charged. The Exarch challenged him and Vulkan curb stomped him. 570 points of dead Eldar and 4 turns later, I was quite pleased the game and my opponent, who tabled me, was left shaking his head.

WAYYYYYYYYYYYY back in 3rd Edition: My BA are facing an BT Army. Throughout game play it worked down to two models left. He had one Dreadnought and I had one one SM left with a missle launcher.

For several turns we went back and forth. I barely passed my leadership test multiple times and was on the very edge of the bored. I kept immobilizing or blowing weapons off the thing but couldn't kill it. Finally I roll great and managed to kill the thing. I will never/and have never managed to roll that lucky again.

Hahahaha! Sounds like fun...and also a prime example of why the game has turn limits.

I've had my night scythe/doom scythe for about 2 months now, and it's the only Tesla destructor I have in my list. In all the games I've played with it, the only time it's successfully arced was onto a friendly monolith. Thankfully the arc wasn't strong enough to do any damage. This past Sunday however, that all changed in a game against Tyranids. Top of turn 5, I flew over a unit of gaunts and fired the destructor. 3 hits, 1 wound. Opponent failed his save, so I rolled to see if the arc would hit the nearby unit of gaunts... 6. Roll to see how many wounds: 6. Opponent rolls 6 saves, gets all 1's and 2's. 6 dead bugs, the rest fail their morale test and run off the table. Squad wipe with a Tesla arc!

My best kill was with using Lysander, after getting lit up by a six man squad of regular Grey Knights, he got into a scrum with a squad of six Grey Knights Terminators. After killing them he got charged by two Grey Knight Dreadnoughts, destroyed one, and destroyed the other only to be killed by the following explosion haha. It was an epic four turn battle.

Second best is an Imperial Fists Tactical Squad Sergeant who was the last man of his squad when he desperately charged both a Space Wolf Tactical Squad Sergeant and two marines who had a power weapon, and a Dreadnought. He got hit a whole heck of a lot of times but somehow nothing wounded. He was amazingly still standing at the end of the game. I put a Terminator Honours bit on that model after the game, he earned it.

The Dark Angel is instantly thrown to the ground as he utters his last scream. His veterans cry in terror, and my Terminators briskly advance... Haha

I was playing against my fiance who was using her newly acquired Blood Angels. I rolled the first turn, and she failed to seize initiative. My Fire Prism exploded her Furioso in the first turn.

Second turn my warp spiders exploded her lanspeeder despite only 3 of them being able to shoot it and her getting a cover save from moving and being obscured.
She decided that we should start a new game at that point.

6th Edition: One of the Chimeras in my Al'Rahem platoon outflanks behind a Nurgle Plague Hulk. I almost end my shooting phase without firing with it (as nothing is in range), but on a whim I decide to put the multi-laser's shots into the back of his Plague Hulk. I penetrate, then roll a 6 on the damage table. No more Plague Hulk.

While still a noob I was playing IG against a veteran mate's SMs in 5th edition. He had an all eggs in one basket Land Raider Crusader w/ a Terminator Assault unit led by a special character but I can't remember which. Turn 1 my Leman Russ immobilised the Crusader. They had to get out and walk. By Turn 3 they were either dead or fleeing. Some awful rolls meant they continued to run right off the board.

The follow up game with the same armies included 'Jim the Invincible' a grunt whose already decimated unit was slain in a single round of combat by a unit of Assault Marines. He fled and survived, spending the last two turns of game play sniping Smurfs, killing one each turn while avoiding the fire of five bolters. He was deservedly crowned Man of the Match.

Won the first, lost the second but still lovely little events. Its a level of luck I've never duplicated.

3rd Ed - Avatar charges 8 Firewarriors. Kills 4. Firewarriors kill Avatar.

3rd Ed - Two Gun-Drones detach from a Devilfish and charge a Seer Council. They break the Seer Council and chase them off the table.

The strange part? Both of these events occurred in the same game. The Eldar were pretty hosed at this point - the Avatar was gone and the Seer Council had left the Wraithgate at the edge of the table as they'd been run off the board before they could deploy it (it was the Ulthwe Strike Force list, for those that remember the days of flavour and alternative lists). And the Tau had done it in HTH, no less. Fun game to watch.

 angelofvengeance wrote:
It was- you could even damage specific parts on vehicles in those days.

Vehicles were the best part of 2nd Ed. That's why I was heavily inspired by 2nd Ed when I wrote the vehicle rules for Only War. Some of the critical damage results are directly inspired by the 2nd Ed datafax cards!

That is the only problem playing with the girlfriend/fiance/wife in a game like this. Things don't go well and they want to restart you have to say "yes dear" or find yourself sleeping on the couch.

Though big bonus points for getting her to play in the first place and for her to have her own army. Lucky devil that you are...

Towards the end of 4th edition:

My Tau vs Necrons.

I had a stealth suit team that was in range of the big blast from a monolith.

BOOM! He wipes out 5/6 suits, with the one I keep being the Shas'vre with a Fusion Blaster (Meltagun).

After seeing his friends killed off, he proceeds to go crazy.
-Passes his leadership
-Shoots the Monolith, rolling a 6 to pen (AP 1 used to mean glance -> pen)
-Blows up the Monolith
-Charges the 20 man squad of Necron Warriors next to it
-Kills 1, suffers no wounds so he wins combat
-Necrons flee
-He catches them in a sweeping advance

610 points of damage done during his rampage.

Unfortunately, someone watching pointed out that he couldn't charge the Warriors because he had shot at the Monolith. We put the Warriors back, who then proceeded to obliterate the lone stealth suit :(

Oh, one of the more memorable kill thingies that I forgot earlier. After having my terminators suck in the same combat, not to mention dying to simple storm bolters before the combat even began, my Master of Sanctity went nuts and killed 6 or 7 GK terminators with his power fist, though he also got killed himself at the same time.

Where a squad of Vets with Carapace and a LC with a Grenade Launcher and a sniper killed an entire squad of Chaos Marines (10) in a round of shooting and then proceeded to lose three men in three rounds of combat against a squad of Raptors and then proceeded to hold a vital objective against the enemy Marines for long enough to win the Game.
Marbo. He has saved my hide more times than possible, but one good example was that my opponent had over-lapping fields of fire and was on hill and had a Factory behind them and an Aegis Defense line. Marbo landed on the bridge of the Factory and threw the Charge, killing two bikes, a terminator and forced a squad of soldiers to flee. But the best thing was he killed a Librarian in combat for only one wound in return.
this wasn't me, but I had Belial on two wounds and the enemy had one normal Space Marine. I charged, got shot for a wound, didn't get hit and then killed Belial.
Also in 5th, I killed Carnifex with a missile shot in the first turn, and then my Devastator Squad slaughtered a Guard unit, a Tyranid Hormagaunt unit and still held an objective.
I love my Dark Angels

Third Edition - Shotgun Scouts at the second LA GT. They managed to assault the rear of a Chimera (with an Armored Fist squad embarked) and proceeded to punch the Chimera (slight exaggeration) so hard that it was destroyed. And with my Scouts blocking the only hatch, the squad inside was cooked (not an exaggeration!).

Either that, or those same plucky little shotgun scouts gunning down Abaddon's retinue (three dead terminators) then giving Mr, Heresy himself a black eye (1 wound).

I'm never very good at remembering these, but recently against DE with my RW DA force a zooming DE bomber (voidraven?) was about 1" from two lone RW bikes, the only survivors of their squad. Both had PG, so I figured, what the hey and fired at the Raven. I rolled 4 6's to hit, proceeded to get a pen and a glance, rolled a "5" on the pen (+1, so a "6"), and brought the bomber down in a massive explosion! Epic.

Even better was that it took 3 turns for the combat to finish up, so I got to tie up a good chunk of his army :-)

5th edition, still 3d edition crons book, my Nightbringer went down slaying a buttload of marines, first a land raider smashed up, nice and easy, what was in it? 6 terminators with their terminator HQ and sadly enough all of them had lightning claws (str 4 that's cute) so he munched those up as well, not being satisfied he turned a Vindicator to dust and then my opponent decided to give up. (Nightbringer roughly killed 700+ points)

6th edition, My Hulk (Destroyer Lord) really didn't like some punk-ass assault marines squad thinking they were cool and turned them to mush, he was alone and faced of 10 assault marines and their guiding chaplain. So much fun.

6th edition, My Nightbringer C'tan shard had a clear shot at a dread first turn, shot it to smithereens in turn one, the dread didn't even move, which was kinda epic, since those points were like lost in the warp.

5th edition: I had a wave serpent up against two vendettas. I kill the first with the Eldar equivalent of a krak missile, and lose the missile launcher to the remaining vendetta. I proceed to ram that vendetta with the wave serpent, killing it and losing my shuriken cannon in the process. As an afterwards: after reducing my opponents last remaining unit (some storm troopers) to a sergeant with a plasma pistol, he charged said sergeant down a hill and opened up with the pistol, scoring an "explodes" result on the wave serpent.

The only other notable kill was a guard veteran with a heavy flamer killing a venerable dreadnaught by hitting its rear armor (it proceeded to explode, killing a good bit of a guard blob it deepstriked onto, whose only purpose was wrapping and extra wounds for the five autocannons in the back).

2nd edition - Back when vehicles ramming troops actually did lots of damage, I ran over Ghazghkull Thraka with a Chaos Rhino.

2nd ed - Fired all the weapons of a chaos land raider (2 twin linked las and a heavy bolter) at a single ork warbike and did nothing. The crewman of the land raider then shot the ork rider dead with his bolt pistol.

2nd ed - In a 500pt game of Orks vs Blood Angels, 5 Deathskull Lootas wiped out 5 scouts, 3 marines and 2 wounds off a chaplain without one of their weapons blowing up! The chaplain unfortunately went on to vortex grenade my warboss though.

3rd ed - Alpha Legion vs Tau (me) - My Tau had drilled most of the Chaos army as he was playing the Index Astartes list with lots of cultists, only for the Terminator Sorceror to deep strike and turn my ethereal into a spawn, at which point about 3/4 of my army legged it off the board.

3rd ed - In a 1000pt game of Orks (me) vs Blood Angels I landed a looted leman russ shot on a death company with chaplain on turn 1. The death company passed all their cover saves but the chaplain failed his 2+ armour and was blown to pieces. In the same turn my infilitrating kommandos blew up his dreadnought with their rokkit before it did anything. I still lost the game but these two shots were damn funny.

5th ed - My dire avengers and warp spiders were fighting a BT Crusader squad with Emperors Champ. The Champ had killed most of the dire avenger plus exarch only to be killed by the Warp Spider Exarch.

5th ed - Not a kill as such but my dire avenger exarch was the only survivor of his squad and ended up in combat with the last assault marine of a BT squad with a storm shield. Over about 4-5 rounds of combat neither could get past the 3+ or 3++ save of the other. Then the game ended with the two of them still duking it out.

5th ed (last game of 5th I think) - I was trying out an eldar foot list vs chaos marines. I only had 1 bright lance in the whole army (wraithlord) and he had a land raider. First shot of the game the land raider exploded and dumped huron out to be slaughtered later by harlequins. The wraithlord then went on to blow up his predator as well and not take a wound in the whole game.

Not had any memorable ones in 6th yet as only had 2 games.

Just had several tonight, and with two very special things. It was a Zone Mortalis battle against The sons of Horus! Epic fight, but the most awesome thing was:

My squad of DWK and mace wielding interriator chaplain wanted to charge a 20 man Legion squad with an apothicary and preator. I didn't want any terminator to die from the massive amount of overwatch, so I charged a lone marine into it .(he had his entire squad killed by heavy weapons) My opponent didn't overwatch him so my Knights got a free ride into combat. Mace of redemption and smite won them the combat by a landslide, and they ran.

my lone marine caught up with the squad and killed 11 legionaries, A preator and an Apothecary all by himself I couldn't help but laugh!

I'll post a few, to the best of my recollection.

5th Edition: Lord Commissar bravely stands his ground against a mildly wounded Daemon Prince when he comes charging. Spectacularly, the Daemon Prince fails to wound the Lord Commissar even a single time and is killed immediately when the Lord Commissar counter-attacks.

5th Edition: The same Lord Commissar, now being used as a simple commissar, engages a mildly wounded Tyranid Tyrant. Promptly, the Tyrant, who was a pain for most of the game, is dispatched when he is unable to wound the commissar.

5th Edition: Master of Ordnance somehow managed to bring down the fury of an artillery bombardment, after scattering quite a distance from it's intended target, into the entirety of the enemy's artillery - a brood of Biovores - as well as some of the tougher tyranid troops, somehow managing to destroy most of them.

4th ed. Deep striking assault marines with jump packs on a table edge behind a Nurgle Predator. Capped it in the rear armor with a plasma pistol. Predator gone.

Two weeks ago. My 200pt Chaos Lord wiped out a squad of Terminators in one turn (Axe of Blind Fury). Notable because my very first Chaos Boon ever was Dark Apotheosis. He then killed Vulkan He'stan.

I have 3 armies, Necrons, Daemons, and Orks. I have been teaching 3 other people to play using my armys for about the last 8 months... 2 -3 games a month so they are relatively new still. One player has picked up a used army for himself about 3 months ago , Nids. And another just got a used DA army right before new dex was released. we played the first game with his new army this weekend. We usually play 2v2 battles now and randomize who plays what (except nids player) and on which team.

My most memorable kills with these guys has been my necron scarabs eating a tyranofex. I had a unit of 7 or so bases and they charged the tyranofex needing 4s to hit and 6s to wound I think I managed 3 wounds out of 45 attacks. he failed one and was now naked to the world. Ever since that game his MC nids run away if my scarabs even look in their direction.

In a recent game I ran orks with 2 deff rolla bw. One had ghaz + meganobs who did not actually do anything all game the other had a 5 nob squad in it... who also did relatively nothing all game. the rolla wagons ended up destroying 3 occupied buildings (wiping the units inside them) a DA vindicator, 2 units of Termies, and 1 unit of raveners.

6th ed.

My napoleonic themed foot guard vs vanilla deathwing terminator army.

Previous turn,,,,I destroyed his hqs landraider and he left his hq term squad in the open,

In go one of three of my rough riders squadrons,,,,,all 95points worth and totally wipe out like 600pts

The rest of my turn went that way and he threw in the towel.

The first proper game of sixth I had with space marines. Kharn and Bezerkers (under the old codex) come into rapid fire range tactical squad kills all the zerkers with rapid fire and a frag missile. Kharn charges me I take 1 wound off with over watch sergant issues a challenge kharn hits with all his attacks and rolls all 1s to wound. That same veteran sergant then cuts Kharn up with his power sword

5th edition Black Templars vs Chaos Space Marines, 1 Summoned Greater Daemon, Daemon Prince and a Defiler vs one immobilized Predator.

First turn Lascannon Main turret takes out the Defiler, After shooting summoned Greater Daemon is down to 2 wounds and Daemon Prince is down to two as well.

Turn 2 comes around and the Greater Daemon is finished up with 2 lascannon shots. I power of the machine spirit the storm bolter and kill the Daemon prince with it.

That predator managed to kill at the end of turn 6: Defiler, Summoned Greater Daemon, Daemon Prince, 2 Rhinos and 2 obliterators. At the end of the game it had its main turret and the storm bolter left. Since that game it has not made it out of turn two except when used against Chaos when it will usually double its wort h and survive the game.

In that same game the Emperor's champion soloed Abadon due to an ungodly amount of 1s on his part and plenty of saves on my part.

A Nurgle Sorcerer killing a 5 man grey knight terminator squad with force halberds and a Dreadknight all by HIMSELF after his plague marine squad he was with was annihilated, it was 5th sure but still awesome,. Basically the grey knights and dreadknight killed all my plague marines through shooting but failed to hit sorcerer, sorcerer then used wind of chaos killing 1 terminator before charging killing the 4 remaining terminators (they all failed their 4+ inv save) ,Dreadknight charged sorcerer who passed his inv save, sorcerer hit back wounding knight and killing him with his force weapon it was awesome.

6th ed. Had a couple drones dismount from a Piranha that got assaulted by an Eldar Farseer with a couple Warlocks. They somehow fail to wound either of the drones, who then hit back and kill both Warlocks. Farseer breaks, drones win initiative and run her down.

Same two plucky drones later took out the remnants of a Mandrake squad (I think there were only 2 left) after the Mandrakes assaulted them in cover. Don't think I could ever ask for better drones

Yesterday evening. 1500 points of my Grey Knights/Necrons vs CSM. My opponent throws Abaddon and 5 Terminators in a Land Raider and comes at me. He gets it to about 30" away (just out of range of my Psycannons) so I open up with My 3 Plasma Cannon Servitors. The Land Raider gets destroyed immediately, Abaddon is allocated the one unsaved wound in the resulting explosion. In the next turn the 3 Servitors go on to wipe out the entire unit of Terminators and send Abaddon into hiding with 1 wound remaining. My opponent's Helldrake finally arrives turn 3. He tells me that my ADL, which is where my Servitors are, is his primary target after all of the damage they just did to his little death star. Coteaz is leading the unit and is manning the Quad Gun. Helldrake flies in, and is immediately removed from play after being met by 2 glances and a pen from my Quad Gun's Interceptor fire. Kaboooom!

Coteaz, plus ADL/QG, plus 3 Plasmitors - 260 points. Damage output - priceless.

A few weeks ago, my Swarmlord was on an unrelenting killing spree. He and his Tyrant Guard had munched through 2 Deff Dreds, a unit of 15 Lootas and 5 Nob Bikers. All but one of the Guard were dead and The Swarmlord had only taken one wound. Bearing down on Ghazghul's squad of Mega Nobz, Bone Swords longing to be drenched in the blood of the mighty Warboss, he awaits his turn to charge. The death of the Greenskin leader is certain. Charge I shall and die he will...
Enter Zogwort stage left who promptly turns The Swarmlord into a Squig. Not cool!

The Swarmlord isn't an IC as per his normal rules, however I'd agreed with my opponent that his squigging was amusing so I let it slide. I'd already won the game on VP anyway.

Haven't played for a long time but I did like my Night scythe comming in last game I played. A chaos demon prince of nurgle was flying and in range to go down and cast his psychic powers and charge in the next turn(2nd). My NS comes in off my board and flies forwards and I choose skyfire and shot the demon prince. I hit him and he failed hsi test and was grounded and then he also failed to save 3 of the hits and was slain straight off. So a 100p Night scythe shot out a 300p demon prince in 1 turn

Back in 5th, an Hive Tyrant charges my Furioso Dreadnought with Blood Talons trough terrain, so my Furioso strikes first
What a surprise it was for him that Blood Talons are special lightning claws that generate extra attacks from unsaved wounds.
I caused 15 wounds to the big Nid, and as you can guess, it died, best kill for me ever.

5th Edition - My chaos sorcerer turns my friends Ghaz in a chaos spawn... Which proceeded to kill 3/8 nobz he was originally a part of

6th Edition - I blew up my friends Dakka Jet with Interceptor which proceeded to crash and burn (Marvelously) On to 3 Kans, 1 Deff Dread, 2 Trukks and roughly 20 Boys + Zogg... 2/3 Kans died outright the third was immobilized, destroyed the Deff Dread, blew up 1 trukk and he crunched another, then squashed Zoggy + his boy squad... This was the best moment in my entire life of tabletop. We have yet to see something like this happen again lol My friend has now learned the consequences of stacking models so close to one another.

5th edition- necron overlord in a CCB moves flat out and sweep attacks my friend's new land raider. First game he ever played with it. Overlord hits once and pens and manages to wreck it first turn. Shiny new model syndrome strikes again!

6th edition- Overlord breaks away from his warrior blob who just got roasted by dread knight flamer. He charges at the first of 2 dread knights that jumped up 1st turn to alpha strike. Mind shackles kicks in killing the knight in one round. Overlord then charges the second knight it happens again with the warscythe finishing off his wounds. Then for some reason my friend hovered his storm raven which the overlord goes to smash up and manages to immobilize it. His terminator squad couldn't kill the overlord with shooting so the overlord gets another round to finally kill the raven. I'll take that kill tally every game, over 700 points he killed.

5th Ed: A solitary survivor of a squad of Tankbustas makes a deperate sprint towards a looming SW vindicator. He fires, he hits, he punches through, the tank explodes. It was as if he shot rigyt down the barrel of the demolisher cannon.

I later lost the game.

4th Ed. had an enemy dreadnaught threatening to challenge an objective. My squad could maybe stay out of range but I decided my chaplain would peel off and hopefully hold off the brute. It just didn't seem right somehow running away, and I counted on his rosarius to delay the dread long enough. Instead he ended up destroying the thing with a plasma pistol! (rolled a hit and a 6 to penetrate and another 6 to destroy it!) Saved the win!

the last game I played, I was playing a slaanesh daemon/slaanesh CSM army combo (main army was daemons)

I'm against Necrons and CSM.

Night Scythe comes on the board, out of range of anything. My flying Daemon Prince materialises.

Scythe flys forward, desimating my seeker squad.

Price flyers over the scythe, perfroms a vector strike, scores 1 glance and one pen thanks to unholy might. Explodes the sucker, forcing the deathmarks it was carrying to go into reserver and be useless for most the game.

Said daemon prince then flys off the board into ongoing reserves so he doesn't get the same treatment by the mass of necrons next turn.

My best kill to date!
