So, I'm completely new at this (both the site and at P&M blogs) so I hope I do it well. I'm at work right now, so I'll do my best with the photos (which are awful because I have to take them with my phone). So, I appreciate any input.

So this is the essential color scheme I will be using for my "standard" kit Savlar Chem-Dogs. (really like the army painter! )

For those who don't know the background on these guys, the Savlar Chem-Dogs are scum, thieves, criminals, reprobates, etc. Savlar was a mining world, but when it couldn't meet its Imperial tithes, it was made into a prison planet. When an uprising occured, the warden created the Chem-Dogs to put it down.

They're in for the loot and the chance at fresh air (Savlar's atmosphere is poison).

That in mind, I'm thinking an orange jumpsuit to signify to other regiments that "Hey! These guys are dangerous!" as well as because they're largely expendable and thus don't need to blend in.

Thoughts?

Again, I'm sorry about the terrible photos, my blackberry is just not good at it. But you get the idea? Right?

So here's what I have thus far with my first foray into my Savlar army. Nothing special as I have no previous experience with green stuff. Just a simple kit-bash of Cadian and Catachan.

This is Heavy Weapons Team 01. I will think of a much better name later.

First up is my missile team.

I imagine the rocket trooper shouting some sort of obscenity at whoever is unluck enough to be in his sights.

Next is my mortar team.

A little heavier on the cadian bits for this one, but I think it adds to the whole Savlar feel. Painting to commence this weekend.

Progress.

So, I saw a Tutorial by Gundor and thought that I would give it a shot.

So I drilled into my rocket launcher and added some paper clips.

Then glue some moss to it before coating it with watered down PVA glue.

I'm liking the sound of these Guardsmen. Are you using actual moss or is it a term for some material? :
If you can pull it off that will be one sweet weapons team. I know it's a little early but have you thought about vehicles?

Hey Nashbashem, thank you for commenting. Its actual moss.

Its some stuff I picked up from... Michael's I believe.

Now, for my night's work.

My (nearly) completed Missile Team.

Maybe just needs some touch ups of color here or there. And some basing.

Man, dig that smoke. I really love the way it came out!

Now, not a great photo, but I'm showing off my Victoria Mini's goggles. Drop of superglue to hold them in place and then bent them around the head of my trooper. I think it looks good, but needs some minor touch up work.

What do you think?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, yes. The missile trooper's pants are a different color. I asked where he got them, he said "Poor sod wasn't usin' them no more. And didn't say no when I asked fer'em."

Coming along very nicely. Love the sunglasses Maybe on a Gunship pilot you could model some Aviators
The only problem I can see is the smoke coming from the missile before the launcher. I think because its just pure smoke. If you put some fire effect in there then the smoke over (White, yellow orange, red, black or gray) it would make a really cool effect. Just my two cents
Keep up the good work

I had that thought and added orange and red at the base of the missile, but it was too vibrant, so I drybrushed back over most of it, you can't see it much at all in the picture. I'll go ahead and touch it up with some more color and take another photo as soon as I can.

So, I need some thoughts and opinions thrown my way. I need 2 things.

1. A mascot. Like.... Savlar 66th Firedrakes or Savlar 66th Cutthroats, something like that.

2. Some kind of banner or logo that I can paint onto a command squad banner.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

But since I can't draw or paint detail too well, I'll hafta dive into my bits to mock it up. Wish me luck!

A skull and crossbones logo should be relatively easy to paint. (look up Pirate flags for examples) pirates of the age of sail are not exactly known for their artistic endeavors...

Sunday Night Update!

Two command squads put together and awaiting painting.

Lets start with Command squad one.

Serevin Corr

Leader of my first platoon and go to man for clandestine missions involving explosions and people needed dead.

Up next, Trooper Wilkes.

Sentenced to Savlar for not saluting his commanding officer. He has since developed less of a liking to taking orders.

Needles, medic.

Sentenced to Savlar after performing major surgery on his commander for a las-bolt graze to the upper arm. The commander was then given bionic replacement.

Nurse, Needles' servo-skull. No one is really sure how he got it. The story changes each time he's asked.

Mason

Not the brightest lumen in the box. Mason has a habit of liking awful awful jokes. Jokes that tend to annoy everyone around him.

Boggs, radio man.

Sentenced to Savlar when he abandoned his radio post for a night on the town with a local girl. Local girls friends then stole a Chimera.

Command Squad number 2

Lt. "Tin-man" Xero.

Says he lost his arm to Tyranids. Doesn't talk about it.

Special Weapons Trooper Carm

Loves his weapon. A lot. Sentenced to Savlar for abuse of munitorum equipment. Trust me, don't ask.

Trooper Oberr

Recently lost his eye in a shiv fight aboard the Fortune's Favored. Refuses a bionic replacement. Says this is trophy of a well won fight. Trooper Verg is not expected to recover.

"Off-Course" Olsen

Sentenced to Savlar for getting his platoon lost in a jungle due to his inability to read a map. 3/5ths of the platoon didn't return. Still can't read a map worth a damn.

And lastly, Medic "Twitch"

A stimm addict from Armageddon. Glassy eyed and usually twitching from need of a stimm. Excellent pain management in his patients.

Thoughts and opinions?

Sorry for the lack of updates last week. Didn't get too much done. But I at least got some painting done this time.

At Nashbashem's command, I added some red to the base of the rocket. Still needs some yellow I think, I'll need to pick some up next time I go to my local store.

Next, I made my army logo. I can't paint for squat, so I decided to model it.

My reasoning is that Savlar would steal everything, including their banners. The skull with the knife in its mouth is their addition to what they take.

The chain is from a Lizardman banner. I really like it

Next up is my mortar team as posted earlier.

I need something snippy to write on the base. Something like "Go long!" or "Incoming!" Suggestions?

Think he's got enough mortars? It took 6 weapon team sets to get them all.

Added the orange over a white basecoat this time, I think it came out much better than on the rocket team. Also, the Catachan chest looks like the mortar operator's stolen himself a fair share of belts from fallen comrades.

Hey folks!

Sunday night update.

So, I went to my hardware store and bought some of this.

And then spent the entire duration of The Hobbit doing this.

With the intent to use it as air hoses for my Chem-Dogs. But, its WAY too big when coiled.

Hours wasted.

Instead I worked up this.

That's a canister from a space marine flamethrower, filed at both ends.

I placed it on my radio trooper, Boggs.

Then I drilled two holes in Boggs' facemask. One on the front and one on the side.

Not bad looking. I'll glue it when I paint him this week.

Here's a proof of concept I did on my mortar team using a Tau fusion gun.

I think it works well. Right?

Anyhoo, all I finished was Corr this week.

Still needs to be based, but I think he came out looking great.

Head and backpack are from forgeworld. The powersword was take from the cadian command sprue. I cut the blade off a right handed power sword and cut the chain blade off the left handed chainsword, and glued it in place.

Still looking for thoughts about posting my fluff here. Comments and criticism are always welcome. Share the thread, and ask your friends what they think. I'd love to know.

Thanks all.

Is the wire inside multiple small strands or one solid wire?

As far as stripping it... a fast (and mildly hazardous way) is to use a lighter to melt off the covering... otherwise gentle application of a hobby knife to shave off the coating might work.

Sorry for the slow response time guys and gals.

Here's the size reference photo as requested by Theophony

The scale may be a little off, but I think it'll work fine for the purpose.

Picked this up when I went to Hobby Lobby.

Simple little dio kit. Nothing too special.
Disappointed to find all the mats in side were bent, dinged around the edges or otherwise not pristine.

Cut up the balsa wood into some flak boarding.

And then built up the trench with the foam core in the dio kit.

Cut a piece of plasticard for the flooring of the shrine.

Then put the cork on it to mock up the look.

As you can see on the cork, I took a blade and cut triangles out in quadrants. Then I repeated this in the open spots. Then I filed down portions I cut out. My hope is that with a bit of gray paint, this will look like a stone column.

Next I took some sticks from the kit and cut them to length to support the shrine's roof.

Then with the piece of corrugated board, also from the kit, I made the roof.
(All in all, not a bad little kit.)

Then I mocked up where the flak boarding will go.

Then came adding texture.

As always, questions, comments and criticism are welcome.

Sunday night update

I didn't do too much today. Helping my mom dig up dead bushes in her yard made me tired and my hands twitchy as all get out.

Added a second layer of plaster.

Reglued the flooring of the shrine.

Textured and painted the Imperial Icon itself.

Almost can't tell it was a cork.

Took some sticks from the kit.

To make the supports...

For the razor wire.

I'm thinking gold looks nice.

And this is how far I got on the priest.

And here's a little mock up of what it should be like when he's in place.

Greeting folks!

Happy Sunday!

Sorry about the lack of update last week, but it was Mother's Day here in the States and I had to be a good son and honor my mother for the life she gave me.

So anywhere, here is what I accomplished this evening.

Mixed up a batch of brown (its really brown, I swear) and gave the whole thing a once over.

The brown is nice and watered down so the white of the plaster shows through just a bit and kind of gives it a rocky appearance.

Shaded the priest, so he's not such a flat color.

Shaded the pillar.

Nuln Oil on the column, Reikland Fleshshade on the gold.

Here are the two together.

But that's not all I did. I painted the troops a bit. Added a grey coat (I swear) to the fabric of the uniform, and then applied black on the armor.

Then, just to shake it up so I don't get burned up, I started painting a stormtrooper for my Chem-Dogs.

Now, I like the light green on the fabric. The armoring is a mixture of goblin green, moot green and leadbelcher. But I don't think its metallic enough. Suggestions?

As always, comments and criticism are always welcome.

For a little change of pace, I present to you...

Spoiler:
It's a Dog's Life

Fortune’s Favored
Imperial Carrack Class Troop Transport
Crew: 3000 Naval personnel
400 Naval Armsmen
8,000 Savlar 66th Chem-Dogs
Status: Currently Awaiting Assignment

The Fortune’s Favored was, by all accounts, a flying prison. Its sole purpose was to ferry its dangerous cargo from warzone to warzone. Armed naval security officers stood guard at every major junction at the fore of the ship. Aft was largely given over to the Savlar 66th Chem-Dogs and their cells. Murderers, thieves and anarchists from the prisons of Savlar, sent out into the galaxy’s worst toxic nightmares to fight and die for the Emperor.
“Attention Savlar 66th. Armed patrols will be coming through your decks. You know the routine. Strip down to skivvies, move to the back of your cell, and remain still. Any sudden movement will be met with lethal force. When cell inspections have finished, and the security teams have left your section, you are free to move around again. Until then, remain still.”
A chorus of moans and curses rose up from the aft of the ship as the blue warning lights flickered on in each cell. Sergeant Seravin Corr tossed his handful of cards onto the small folding table, stood and sighed as he pulled off his undershirt and tossed it over by the front of the cell.
“You know the drill. Sooner they’re done, the sooner we can get back to our game.”
His squad groaned loudly as they deposited their cards on the table before standing and peeling off their grimy clothing and added it to the pile started by Corr.
“We ain’t been off this can for weeks. Where in da hell we ‘sposed to get anything…” grunted Callahan as he sauntered toward the back of the cell.
“You forget Cally. There’s a whole army of navy boys to steal from here.” Briggs called from her cell across the room. She ignored the leering gazes of the men across from her as she peeled off her clothing and moved to the back of her cell. A deep laugh made eyes turn to the cell next to Corr’s. A large meaty frame leaned against the bars and arms like tree trunks stuck through, gesturing while the man talked.
“Whole army o’ navy.” Mason, the heavy gunner chuckled. “I hate myself for likin’ that one.”
“We all hate you Mason, now get back against the wall!” Corr shouted.
“Yup, yup. Sure thing, boss.” The muscular arms disappeared within their cell once more. Corr rubbed his temple.
“Idiots… I’m surrounded by idiots…”

Less than three hours later the armsmen finished their routine security sweep, returned to their half of the ship and the warning lights went dead. Corr sighed, running a hand over his shaved skull and bent to pick up his shirt.
“Deal a new hand Cally.”
“Figures, I had great cards too.” He muttered as he sat and started shuffling.
“Course you did. You cheat.” Stakely hissed through broken, yellowed teeth as he plopped himself down into his seat.
A clanging at the bars of the cell interrupted the conversation and drew their attention. Two armsmen and a commissar stood there.
“You. Sergeant. Come with me.” The commissar hissed. The way he said Corr’s rank sounded like he was spitting poison.
Stakely flashed a noxious grin.
“You’re in trouble, Sarge.” He said. Corr glared at him sidelong and kicked his chair out from under him. There was a satisfying crack as the man’s jaw connected with the card table before he hit the floor in a whimpering mess. The commissar eyed him briefly before turning away as the armsmen opened the cell.
“This way.” The commissar repeated as he walked down the corridor.
“Help Stakely find his teeth Cally, I’ll be back.” Corr said as he stepped out of the cell and followed the commissar, flanked by the two armsmen, the barrels of their shotcannons aimed at his back, encouraging continued compliance.
After long minutes of silence, the small group arrived at a blast door. Corr shivered. He was all too familiar with interrogation chambers. The door hissed opened and the commissar eyed Corr from under his cap.
“Sit.” He ordered. Corr swallowed the fear building in his throat, and moved forward to sit in the chair on the far end of the table. He hadn’t done anything wrong. At least, not recently. The mere touch of the cold metal chair sent chills down his spine, his mind instantly dredging up the interrogation chamber after his little...
“Sergeant Seravin Corr.”
Corr blinked, drawn from his little reverie by the commissar’s stern voice. It took him entirely too long to realize he hadn’t been strapped down. The commissar looked up from a dataslate, staring at Corr with cold, unblinking eyes.
“Born on Heidrun. Orphaned at age three, parents killed in action. Attended the Schola Progenium at age four. Quickly overcame your classmates and graduated with honors. Murdered your fellow graduates in cold blood the morning after graduation. Sentenced to life on Savlar for your crime. Quickly snatched up by the Chem-Dogs for your Progena training.” The commissar set the dataslate on the table.
“That’s me.” Corr said, hoping his show of bravado hid his nervousness.
“What did you specialize in at the Schola, Sergeant?”
“I was to be a storm trooper. My skills laid heavily in force-multiplied deconstruction.”
“You mean demolitions?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” The commissar’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.
“I have a mission. One that requires the level of skill that, let’s face it, is largely absent from anything Savlar can dredge up.”
“Stop, your flattery is going to make me blush.” Corr said. He saw the commissar twitch, but through sheer force of will, the commissar maintained his composure. He leaned forward and steepled his gloved fingers. His head turned ever so slightly to the side and one of the two armsmen stepped forward and cracked the butt of his shotcannon into the side of Corr’s head. He reeled but managed to remain both in his seat and conscious.
“Look, filth. I don’t like you. If I had my way I would render you and your entire regiment into so much fine paste against the bulkhead. But you serve a purpose for the Imperium and for that you are spared from your deserved fate.” Corr rubbed at his throbbing head, feeling his own sticky blood running down his temple.
“So order me already. Ain’t like I can refuse you, can I, Sir.” Corr hissed through clenched teeth. The commissar leaned back, and appeared to smirk for almost a full second.
“There’s trouble on a backwater planet known as Strontius Prime, the local rabble has incited a minor rebellion. It’s perfect for you lot. Air is toxic, mostly swampland across the main continent, you’ll feel right at home with all that scum.”
Corr smirked and pointed at the datapad.
“There any intel on that?” he asked. The commissar paused, taken somewhat by surprise by Corr’s question, before handing him the datapad.
“What’s my target?” he asked as he skimmed the planetary information.
“What we believe to be the rebel base of power, the governor’s mansion. It fell early on in the rebellion and seems a likely place to house the rebel leaders.
“Why not bomb it? Why send in us mud-sloggers?” he asked.
“They have surrounded the mansion with anti-air. The risk to the pilots is simply too great.”
“But the risk to me-”
“-Is perfectly acceptable.”
Corr sat in silence for a moment before sliding the slate back across the table.
“I’ll need a team.” The commissar looked skeptical. “It’ll improve chances for completing the mission.” The commissar thought on it for a moment, before nodding.
“You may take your current squad, but that is all. No further assistance, no equipment beyond your typical gear.” Corr’s jaw fell open.
“How do you expect me to blow up a mansion without an explosive?!” he asked, jabbing a finger at the dataslate. “You read the intel, that place is massive!”
“I have no doubt you’ll figure it out.” The commissar said as he stood. He nodded at the guards to took up position behind Corr. “Return him to his cell.” He ordered. “Select your team and discuss a plan, you have until we drop out of warp.” Corr was quickly grabbed by the arms and lifted bodily from his seat as the commissar quickly made his exit. Corr snarled and pulled his arms free and stepped into the corridor.
“Wait! What about the rest of the 66th?” he called. The commissar stopped and peered back over his shoulder.
“They will be providing the distraction for your insurgency. Don’t let their deaths be a complete waste.” The armsmen moved to grab Corr again, and he sighed.
“I can walk. I know the way.” He hissed. “Frakkin’ fools…” He shrugged his arms free and muttered under his breath all the way back to the hold.

Nice to see the board is coming along. Inregard to the more metalic green have you tried putting less green in the leadbelcher or paint the area you want in layered metalics then wsh it with a green shade till you get the colour you want.
And really like the small story. Adds even more character to your guys

Continuing where the story left off...

Spoiler:
Several days later…
The hanger of the Fortune’s Favored was a network of walled in narrows, designed to funnel the Chem-Dogs to drop ships and allow the armsmen on the pathways above to maintain control and authority. Weapons wouldn’t be unlocked until the troops were safely on the ground and pointed at the enemy.
Hundreds of soldiers all talking about their deployment, taunting an unknown enemy, threatening the guards, etc.; the noise was nearly deafening. So much so that it was unnoticed when Corr’s team was pulled aside and lead under armed escort down a separate corridor. The emerged at boarding ramp of a Valkyrie. The commissar stood at the foot of the ramp, hands clasped behind his back.
“Reporting as ordered.” Corr said. He didn’t salute, and the commissar didn’t seem to care. He looked over the team with a practiced eye and then produced a datapad and scanned it momentarily.
“When I call your name, step forward.” he said. “Briggs, Risha. Corporal.” Briggs stepped forward, managing to look both bored and annoyed at the same time. “Sentenced to Savlar for insubordination, assaulting a commanding officer and theft. Step into the Valkyrie.” Briggs ascended the ramp and disappeared into the ship without a word.
“Stakely, Dekko. Guardsman.” Stakely shuffled forward a step, clearly more interested in whatever he was digging out of his ear than in anything the commissar had to say. “Sentenced to Savlar for looting and the violent murder of a civilian. Board the ship.”
“Sure sure.” Stakely said with a non-committal shrug. “Stayin’ safe was boring anyway.”
“Mason, Clyde. Guardsman. Sentenced to Savlar for murder and kidnapping.” Mason frowned.
“There’s an explanation for tha-”
“Shut up and board the Valkyrie, trooper.” The commissar said. Mason sighed and climbed the ramp without another word.
“Callahan, Wren. Guardsman.” Callahan stepped forward and smiled broadly.
“Call me Cally, sir.” The commissar looked at Callahan, sneered and then returned his eyes to his pad.
“Sentenced to Savlar for murder, assaulting a commanding officer and theft.”
“Uh, ya forgot selling stolen goods and attempting to bribe a commanding officer.” Callahan added, leaning forward to peer at the commissar’s datapad. The commissar took a step back and jerked his head in the direction of the gunship.
“Just. Board. The ship.” He hissed. Callahan shrugged and hustled aboard the Valkyrie as the commissar turned his attention to Corr.
“Four days, Sergeant. By then the rest of the force will reach the palace. If it is not rubble by then, the rest of the 66th will be thrown at it, wave after wave, until it is.” He said.
“Right, no pressure.” Corr muttered, stepping past the commissar and climbing the boarding ramp. “Keep the porch light on. We’ll be back before you know it.”
“I assure you, I am positively a quiver.” The commissar muttered as the ramp shut.

The Valkyrie dropped low, screaming over the gnarled husks that Strontius Prime called trees. Corr sat back in his seat, eyes shut, head bobbing side to side as the Valkyrie searched for viable drop site to offload its cargo of dangerous scum.
“I hate you, Sarge! Volunteering me for this frakkin’ suicide mission!” Stakely hissed as he adjusted the straps on his rebreather and took a few testing breaths. Corr smirked and opened his eye a crack to stare at the man.
“Volunteered? You must be mistaken. I ordered you.” He said. Stakely respond with a sneer and an obscene gesture that only someone from his homeworld would be offended by. Corr ignored it.
“So tell me again, why the hell are we here?” Callahan said. He leaned forward, snorted and spat a gobbet of yellow phlegm on the floor grate.
“Weren’t you listening? This mud ball has a little traitor problem. We’re being sent in to burn the house down so the roaches can’t have it.” Briggs said calmly. Stakely flashed his broken smile.
“Ooh, I do like a little bonfire.” He said. “Maybe this won’t be so bad.”
Briggs shook her head and pulled her goggles over her eyes.
Suddenly the lights in the cabin turned a dirty yellow in color.
“Masks on kids. Strontius has air worse than Stakely’s breath.” Corr said as he pulled all the straps tight on his mask. The four thick hoses ran over his shoulders on both sides and he shrugged his shoulders to get them to settle in a somewhat more comfortable position. Stale air pumped in and he took a couple of deep breaths to test the rig.
“Man! Dig that fresh air!” Mason called through the vox bead.
“God-Emperor, I hate you...” Briggs mumbled.
“Everyone got their breathers on?” Corr called. A short chorus of affirmatives met his question as the Valkyrie shuddered violently as it suddenly dropped in speed and banked hard.
“This is your captain speaking. We’ve found a nice piece of swamp-adjacent real estate to drop you in. Tuck and roll folks.” The pilot called over their vox feed. The boarding ramp hissed open and dust and fetid air flooded in as the Valkyrie slowed to hover over the swamp. There was a loud grating noise as the sealed crate containing most of their gear slid down the ramp and splashed into the swamp.
“Move it!” Corr slapped his restraint release and sprinted down the ramp. He leapt off the edge of the ramp and dropped twenty feet into muddy water and quickly disappeared beneath its surface. Briggs and Mason quickly followed, but Stakely stopped and peered over the edge.
“Ah man. I got a bad feeling about this.” he muttered. Callahan clapped a hand onto his back.
“Choice is this or Savlar, man.” he said before stepping off the edge. Stakely swore under his breath before he banged his hand hard against the bulkhead and jumped off the ramp as it began to close.

Extricating themselves from the thick mud proved to be more difficult than Corr would’ve liked. The brackish crud nearly swallowed their gear.
“We missing anything?” Corr asked as he wiped mud from his breather.
“Think I’m missin’ a canister of promethium.” Mason said as he hoisted his heavy flamer from the case and dug muck out of the igniter with a finger. The sealed case proved to be not so sealed when it’s dropped onto a rock hidden beneath the brackish waves. Briggs sat on the shore, grumbling and cleaning her sniper rifle like a mad woman.
“Aren’t those things rated for air drop?” she hissed as she peered through her scope before cleaning the lenses for a third time. Stakely slung his lasgun over one shoulder and looked around.
“Which way we supposed to go? This all looks the same?” he said, gesturing at the swampland. Corr stood and tucked his laspistol into his holster as he moved to stand next to Stakely.
“Intel says it should be two days trek to the north.” Corr said, gesturing to an unremarkable stretch of swampland. Once we reach the palace, we’ll need to sneak past the defenses and locate the munitions depot. Gotta be somethin’ there that’ll bring the house down.”
“I love it when the plans all fall into place.” Callahan said as he adjusted his breather straps.
“Briggs. You memorize the map like I asked?” Corr said, looking over his shoulder at the woman.
“Nah, too much work. I lifted it before we deployed.” She said, fishing a hand into her thigh pocket. After a moment she pulled out a folded up map and handed it over before returning to cleaning her rifle.
“Atta girl.” Corr said, taking the map and unfolding it to peer at it. “Now look. We’re here.” He said, jabbing his finger onto the map. He slowly dragged it across it, stopping at the top of the map. “And here’s the objective. Now here, right in the middle is an old settlement. We should be able to rest there. We can probably make it there in just under eight hours.”
“What if it’s not friendly.” Mason asked. Corr smirked and pat his laspistol.
“The settlement should be abandoned. But if it’s not, we’ll have to make it that way. Pack your things. We have a long hike. And I’d like to find some shelter before we need to change tanks.”

“I don’t think we can empty this one out, Sarge.” Mason whispered. Corr was inclined to agree. The settlement was overrun. The Stronius PDF had set up a substantial outpost in the settlement, and been so good as to man it quite heavily. Troops were busy setting up tents, sealing up the old buildings and pumping clean air into the few that were already in stable condition. A hastily built guard tower stood near the center of town and a small team of scouts peered out over the landscape with a poorly trained eye.
“I count at least ninety…” Corr muttered.
“Getting about the same count here.” Briggs voxed.
“Love to know what the plan is now, Sarge.” Stakely hissed.
“It’s the same plan. We rest here, move on at day break.” Corr said, rolling his eyes.
“Uhh… seems a bit crowded, don’t ya think?” Callahan voxed.
“Maybe we should’ve made reservations at a nice inn instead?” Mason snorted, barely able to finish his own joke.
“Mason… I hate you…” Briggs said.
“Cut the chatter and regroup. I have a plan.” Corr cut in.
“He’s got a plan. I’m just… filled with renewed optimism…” Stakely said.

Trooper Abec Carn was sweating. It was hot. The swamps always were. But this was something different. This was the first time, to his knowledge, that the Strontius PDF had been mustered for anything other than a simple parade. But the Governor had called them up to defend their home against an enemy massing at the fringe of their continent. Carn had seen the vids. They looked like barely leashed hounds, and it wasn’t too far of a stretch for Carn to imagine them frothing at the mouth. It made him nervous. He looked out at the swampland, doing his best not to think about the mindless beasts that were landing on his planet.
“Carn!”
Carn jumped up from where he was sitting, his train of thought broken by a shout. He looked around until his eyes found Beck. He took a deep breath and willed his heart rate to drop back to normal.
“S-sorry. I was… thinking.” He muttered. Beck shrugged and adjusted his breather.
“I’m going to make my patrol. Hold down the fort. Wake the other’s if you need anything.” Beck said as he plucked up his lasgun.
“Y-yeah. No problem.” Carn said with a wave as he watched Beck disappear into the night. Carn turned his attention back to the swamps that surrounded them. He could see the Lantern Flies as they fluttered lazily in the night air. He could hear the croak of the Tox-Frogs that wallowed in the mud hunting the Lantern Flies. He shut his eyes and took a deep breath. His home was eerily beautiful at times. He heard the hab-tent rustle as someone opened the flap and stepped out into the night air. He twisted slightly and looked the man up and down as whoever it was adjusted their uniform.
“Quite a night, ain’t it?” the man said as he stepped over to Carn.
Carn sighed and smiled beneath his rebreather, returning his gaze to the landscape.
“Sure is.”
“Ya know this place well?”
Carn shrugged.
“Not really, I’m from a farm town up near the capital.”
“Farm boy huh? You lie. Yer too scrawny.”
“It’s the truth!” Carn said, suddenly feeling like his honor had been insulted. “My family has been farming Malta Nuts for three generations. I know Strontius plants like the back of my hand.”
“Oh yeah? Prove it.” The man said. He looked side to side and then pointed out to Carn’s left. “What’s that one over there?” Carn turned his head a bit and peered into the inky blackness.
“Which one?” he asked as the man loomed over him.

Jorin Beck was aching for a smoke. He needed his lho fix, but he wasn’t too keen on peeling off his mask for a few puffs of his narcotic of choice when the air would kill him faster. Maybe he could sneak one when he got back to the tent. Carn wouldn’t mind, and the others should be asleep.
He looked up, seeing the slender form of Carn still sitting where he’d left him a minute ago. Beck sighed and set his lasgun against a gnarled stump and arched backward.
“I’m back. Did I miss anything?”
Carn turned slowly and shook his head.
“Nah, nothin’.” He said before turning back towards the swamp.
“Figured. Cover for me, I’m gonna duck inside and have a smoke.”
Carn raised a hand and nodded his head without word. Beck ducked inside the small airlock and shut the tent door behind him as he waited for the airlock to cycle. A small light flashed green and he peeled off his breather and stuck a lho-stick between his lips as he opened the inner door.
Three heads turned towards him from where they were gathered in the middle of the tent and Beck stopped.
“Oh, you’re all up. D’ya mind if I smoke?” he asked. It took him several seconds to realize everyone was in their breathers.
“What’s… what’s going on?” Beck asked
“I think we’ve been made, Sarge.” One of them said.
“You think?” replied another.
Beck’s eyes widened. He dropped his lho-stick and reached for his lasgun only to find that it was still resting outside. Two arms wrapped around him from behind, one arm around his chest, the other tightly around his neck. He gasped and craned his neck to look over his shoulder.
“Carn!? What are you-” he managed to choke out.
“Carn’s sleeping. Just relax and soon all will be well. Promise.” Beck struggles weakened as his airway was constricted little by little until his world went black.

Nice fluff Dude. So far its at least as good as Dan Abnetts stuff. (better in my opinion as its not a thinly veiled ripoff of the sharpes novels)

Sunday Update folks!

So here's the board as it rested last weekend. I think its easier to see whats up with the color in this light? Maybe?

So I took a bit of this.

And gave the board a little dusting for some color.

I think the shine makes it look muddy or wet. I like it.

So here's the detail I got done on the squad.

Nothing super special, but its coming together.

Though I like how the commander is coming out. I gave his coat a wash of Reikland Fleshshade. I think I might go over it in black.

And in keeping with the change of pace. Here's my stormtrooper again.Painted the armor Runefang Steel. And a mixture of brown and black for the boots and gloves. I'm gonna wash the armor with green ink and see what comes of it. But thats all I got for tonight.

Comments and Criticism always welcome. Thanks.

Look at that folks! I have another sunday update. Last week was insane and thusly I was NOT able to get any work done, but today I have something to show.

Here's my mostly finished board. The spray paint looks shiny and thus looks like a muddy battlefield. I like it, I really do.

Here's a close-up of my shrine's floor.

Aaaaand here's where my failing starts. I spent a good hour painting some balsa strips to be flak boards for the floor of my trench and then when I started to glue them down, realized just how awful it looked.

So I quickly peeled them up and wiped off the glue.

BUT, I did get the shrine finished and glued down both the icon and my priest.

And I decided that I will NOT glue down the roof of the shrine so I can take it off and look inside.

Comments and criticism are welcome. Please tell me what you'd like to see done.

Thank you all for watching and, as always, I will see you in the next update.

BYE BYE!

Looks pretty nifty Would I personally think would be cool would be a squad of guys in front of the priests getting the blessing, a medical section with casulties and a few guys pulling ammo crates and weapon platforms into position.
Not really sure I could help you with the wood flooring you are trying to do.
And I was wondering how your next piece of fluff was coming along, really enjoy reading it.

Keep up the good work

The boards looked off because they were too big to be wooden, I've found coffe stirrers and Popsicle sticks are better for "wood boards" at 28mm than large planks of Balsa (without adding guffins to break up the surface.)

Continuing the tale of the Savlar 66th:

Spoiler:
Corr sighed as the bodies of the PDF were arrayed on their bedrolls as casually as possible. Most of them were kids. Freshly drafted to defend their cesspool of a home from whatever the galaxy deigned to throw their way. They were woefully unprepared. And now they were statistics. Stakely, Briggs and Callahan rifled through the pockets of each body in turn, pocketing anything they wanted or felt they could trade aboard the Fortune. Mason knelt by each one in turn, and carefully whispered a prayer for the Emperor to guide them. Corr, was busy fussing at the pilfered PDF uniform he wore. It was still crisp, almost like it had never been worn. New gear was almost non-existent in the Chem-Dogs, everything was salvaged, stolen or just not wanted anywhere else, including the soldiers. The fact that the uniforms would help them blend in among the others was merely a bonus.
“Ooh, nice knife. Hope ya don’t mind if I take it.” Stakely whispered to one of bodies, patting it on the chest as he fastened the knife to his belt. Meanwhile, Callahan had found himself a new pair of boots in his size and promptly replaced his old pair.
“I never had a pair of boots this nice.” he said as he pulled the laces tight.
“Make yourselves comfy. We got five hours until daylight, which means we need to be ghosts in four.” Corr said once the looting had died down. He took a seat next to the hab tent’s airlock and sighed.
“You got first watch, Sarge?” Mason asked as he stood from the final body, making the sign of the Aquila across his chest as he finished his prayer.
“Yeah.” he said. “I’ll wake you in two hours, Mason. Then I’ll get some sleep.” Mason nodded groggily and sprawled on the floor between the cots. Corr looked around and saw the others all bedding down amongst the dead. Corr watched them for several long minutes before his eyes drifted shut and sleep took hold of him as well.

The sound of heavy boots echoed down the corridor.
It was happening again.
He knew what was coming, but there was nothing he could do.
Something heavy crashed against the door shaking the entire frame.
Again, and again.
Harder, and harder.
Until, with a final boom, the door fell inward and a cadre of instructors pushed into the room.
“Trooper Corr! What’ve you done?!”
Corr looked up from the body he clutched in his hands at the Progenia instructors that surrounded him.
He hadn’t slept.
How could he after what he’d done.
He slowly looked back down at the young woman in his arms.
She’d been a comrade… a lover… and now?
“I did what had to be done, sir.” He said.
His eyes began stinging as tears worked their way free.
He lightly caressed her cheek.
Suddenly her eyes shot open.
“Why Serevin? Why did you let me die?” she rasped.
Corr opened his mouth to speak, but the shrill blaring of a horn drowned out all but her accusing eyes and the blood trailing from her cut throat.

Corr’s eyes shot open at the sound of a horn blowing. It was a shrill sound and his hands quickly covered his ears. Callahan and Briggs were instantly awake as well, covering their own ears and looking to Corr.
“What the hell is that?!” Stakely shouted.
“It’s our wakeup call! Get up! Get up now!” Corr said as he scrambled to his feet. He stopped and looked over to Mason who was still fast asleep. He pointed to Briggs and then to Mason. “Wake him!” he said as he stepped into the airlock. He pulled the door shut and replaced his mask while it cycled. The door chimed, and before Corr could reach for the handle it opened and a figure in a PDF officer’s uniform stopped just shy of barreling into him.
“Wha-” he managed to croak before Corr grabbed him by the throat. His thumb and fingers dug firmly into the soft flesh and he pulled the man into the airlock and shut the door with his free hand. He didn’t wait for the airlock to fully cycle this time, he threw open the inner door and dropped the man on the floor.
“We’ve got a problem.” He said, shutting the door behind him. The officer coughed and started to push himself to his feet but Stakely was on him at a moment’s notice. He pressed his knee into the man’s back, forcing him back to the floor.
“Hullo there.” He said, as he pulled his new knife from the sheath on his belt. “You picked the wrong tent, pal. This one’s full up.” He grabbed the man by his hair and pulled his head back hard and pressed the blade against the man’s exposed throat. The man squealed as the blade nicked his throat, a bead of blood dribbling down into his uniform.
“What’s happening? Who are you people?” he asked, panic evident in his voice.
“We’re nobody.” Briggs said, staring down at the man.
“Who are you?” Mason asked with a yawn.
“S…Sergeant Emil Nelis… Strontius PDF. Who a-”
“What’s your unit doing out in the swamp?” Corr asked. His eyes were wide with panic and darted between the people he didn’t know, before they fell upon the dead in their bunks.
“Oh… Oh God-Emperor…” he cried, peeling his eyes away from the dead. “Y-you killed them…”
“Focus pal, or we kill you slower.” Stakely said, pressing the knife against his throat just a little harder.
“W-we were deployed by the Governor. Told a large pirate band had landed at the far end of the continent. Most of the PDF is d-deployed to stop them. Small garrisons were set up around the palace to protect the governor.” Briggs sighed, disgusted without how easily this man had spilled their orders.
“What? Pirates? That’s insulting!” Cally said with a smirk as he looked fondly at his new boots. Corr glared and Cally, who shrugged back at him.
“Shut up.” Corr said, before returning his attention to their captive. “What’s the contingent at the Governor’s mansion? How many men? What kind of materiel?”
“I… I can’t… I can’t betray my p-people and my Emperor.” He sputtered. Stakely nicked him again with the knife, drawing another rivulet of blood and a whimper of pain and fear.
“Oh you can, and you will!” Stakely hissed in his ear.
Suddenly there was a banging at the airlock.
“Sergeant Nelis, sir? The senior officers are gathered for this morning’s briefing.” A voice called through the intercom. Stakely’s hand clamped down over the man’s mouth and everybody tensed.
“We haven’t the time for this. Take his vox, his weapons, and tie his hands. We found ourselves a guide.” Corr whispered.
“We should slot him now, Corr. He’ll give us away.” Stakely hissed.
“Orders?” Mason asked, hefting his flamer. Corr pulled Nelis’s vox bead from his ear and crushed it under foot as Stakely grudgingly tied his arms behind his back and took his laspistol, tucking it into his belt.
“We need an exit.” Corr said.
“On it.” Callahan said. He hopped over a cot and drew his knife in one smooth motion. “Masks on kids.” He said as he lifted his own over his mouth and nose. Without waiting, he stabbed into the skin of the tent and pushed down, opening the back of the tent to the harsh atmosphere. He pulled open the flap just enough to peer around. A muddy, empty street met his gaze. The buildings across the street were old, decrepit and, despite the sudden garrison of PDF, still clearly abandoned. At least if the broken out glass windows were any sort of clue. Nestled between them was an alley that now appeared to be the garrison’s garbage dump. Cally pulled open the tent and pointed.
“There’s our exit.”
“Gee dad, it’s such a nice day. Let’s go play outside.” Mason said as he ducked through the hole.
“Mason… I swear...” Briggs hissed as she followed. Stakely quickly shoved their captive outside, laughing as he lost his balance and landed face first in the muck and grime.
“Maybe having him along won’t be all bad.” He said, stopping to admire his handiwork. Cally rolled his eyes and gave him a shove through the opening.
“Move it!” he hissed. Corr lingered a moment longer. He moved to the intercom and pressed the response button.
“Hang on hang on, I just gotta- GRENADE! GRENADE!” he shouted as he pulled a grenade from his belt. He took off at a run for the opening and pulled the pin, dropping the grenade in the middle of the tent as he passed by. It was a standard frag on a five second timer.
One one-thousand.
Two one-thousand.
Thr-
The grenade exploded early, and a pressure wave hit Corr just as he made his dive for the makeshift exit. The tent shredded and caught fire as Corr landed hard in the mud a full six feet further than intended. His ears were ringing and his calf burned. Over the din he could make out a klaxon blaring and panicked shouts. He pushed himself up to his feet, wincing as pain shot up his right leg. He hobbled the last few feet into the alley and disappeared amongst the warrens of detritus.

Hello everybody! And welcome back to my P&M blog.

So, I gathered that the left side of my diorama would look a little bare. Not to mention you guys told me so. So I picked up some of these to fill out the open spot.

Now! For some nice teasers.
Click at your own risk.

Spoiler:

I should have it all finished by the end of the week.

Thank you all for watching, and as always I WILL SEE YOU NEXT WEEKEND!

No Atheists in Foxholes

The rain had finally stopped.
Guardsman Ryl Alders looked up at the sky. There was still no sun, but Ryl would take his blessings where he could.
This world was horrid. Nearly constant rain and foul-smelling mud dampened more than just clothes. They dampened the mind, and the spirit just as well.
Ryl had seen it first hand. The other night, during a lull in the fighting, Guardsman Jor had taken his own life, saying he'd never see sun again.

Now, he surely never would.

Father Jacobi had been the most distraught. He had seen Jor's distress, and he had done all he could to save the poor lad, but in the end, nothing prevailed.

As Ryl stared at the sky he heard a murmuring at the shrine. He looked over and saw Father Jacobi marching out for morning prayer. He looked solemn, but also at peace. Sergeant Gors, still nursing his broken left arm, moved closer and knelt down in the mud.

"Guardsman, hold my Primer for me." he said softly, pulling a well worn copy of the Primer from a pouch on his belt. Ryl nodded and knelt next to him and held open his Primer. "Guardsmen, gather. Its time." The rest of the squad shambled in. The fighting against the Orks had been costly, and the squad was battered and tired. They gathered around the shrine, little more than a salvaged stone column with a Aquila bolted to the top.

Father Jacobi stood in front of it and held his hand out over the troops.

"Sons, the Emperor knows how hard this is for you. He knows how much you suffer in his name. And he thanks you for your service in his name. But we must keep up the fight my children. We can not allow the green skinned horde to hold this world. This world where men, women and children have been cast down without a second thought. We must fight, and we must win."

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Sunday Night Update!

Tonight's the night I actually get back into my Savlar Chem-Dogs army, having spent the last couple of months working on my entry for the League's Terrain Competition.

Wish my luck with that.

But ANYWAY, back to the Chem-Dogs.

Tonight, I present to you Sergeant Alek Vinz.

Sentenced to Savlar after he and his unit commandeered a civilian transport during a mission behind enemy lines. The mission was a complete success. however the civilian, the Governor's daughter, was less than enthused about the state of her vehicle when returned (IE destroyed). Sergeant Vinz punched the Governor when he demanded he pay for the damage.

Sadly, that's all I got done this evening, but its something, right? Right???

Aaanyway, thank you all for watch. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

well.... i thought i had a peek here to see if you had done the conversion you wanted to try...

but now i stick to this thread as i see some very cool and motivated work going on here... and it is good to see all those small steps how the shrine got created... lovley piece... and a totally different way to interpret the theme of the comp!...

the whole fluff to your chem dogs needs to be read on a diffrent day tho... currently i am more chatty than in a reading mood via comp but it will happen eventually!

cheers, vik

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

So here's the deal guys. Each Sunday is when I post my updates, right? So what I'm gonna try and do is have at least 1 model painted each and every week. I'm not as fast at it as I used to be, so until I'm back in the swing of things.

That being said, I'm gonna fail that this week.

Here's what I did get done.

I started painting Mason.

You may notice I have also added some little details here and there. If not, trust me, I totally did.

Then I added some further details to Needles.

And, of course, as I promise Vic, I tried to mock up an at ease soldier.

Now, firstly, that is not the right arm I wanted. I wanted the hand holding the helmet like the one I used in my diorama. But the one I used in my diorama happens to be the only one I had....so...... yeah.... so let's just call that a placeholder for the time being.

Not great, but I think it meets the idea, right?

Right???

Aaanyway, thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

BYE BYE!!!!!

actually i had hoped for a more true to the original look... but i like the helmeted arm (which you not have anymore:() but is good to be pointed out nevertheless... and the resting on lasgun arm is one of my favorite too...

the laspistol arm facing downwards gives him a very nonchalantly air! so that looks in itself like a very at ease soldier!...
as for your medic... that head always creeps me out ... but he looks good... tho... does playwise make the servo skull any advantages for the medic? whats with LOS?

also... as for mason... shouldn´t he be called arson? LOL... i never would have guessed to combine the officer legs with the armored chest piece... nice idea and as i recently got me both... i will nick that idea^^...but for the paintscheme... you have yellow, puple and red and black...i think one or two colors less and you would have yourself more of a winning formula ?

cheers, vik

Nash: Welcome back man

Vik: The pants will wind up a brown when they're done, which won't be too far from the black of the coat.

The purple is just for the hose to pick it out from everything else.

For that at ease, if you want something more like the traditional one, I can attempt that this evening. It'll be kit-bashed though, so I can fit it into the scheme of my army. Hope you don't mind.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome to my SECRET WEDNESDAY UPDATE!! Its so secret that I did it without even knowing it!

Aaaanyway.... alabamaheretic, thank you so much for watching, I hope you like what you see and read here.

So here's what I accomplished tonight! I was attempting to do more at-ease guard for Vik, aaaaand things sorta went awry....

They're not so much at-ease as they are....

...they are....

Ya know... I think they just look kinda badass!

This will be the start of my first infantry platoon.

And, of course, I will give them all names and personalities.

After all...

They deserve it.

This guy is my favorite so far.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

After all...

surley you meant to say...alas i knew him well...

i think i am now a bit ashamed of my self... as i have had during our last conversations commited a translation crime...... in fact i was not meaning to ask you to make an at ease soldier... but rather a guarding or even standing at attention soldier...

but with GW IG legs you have a serious problem right there... as all leg bitz are in movement...darn...

but rest assured... the bunch above looks cool!...and i like the fact that you will give them names and personna... i always think that we play better with these when they have a life... thus we dont shoove them in the meatgrinder so easlily...

I plan on sobbing uncontrollably each time one of them dies and telling my opponent the entire backstory of his victims, just so he/she knows just how monstrous their actions have been!

As for on Guard.... yeah... that'd be harder. Maybe cast the straight legs of the at-ease guardsman I used in my dio and then use a regular set of arms from the sprue so that the lasgun is still held across their chest.

any way good little update keep it rolling man.

@alabamaheretic

Yes, actually. But since they're scum and criminals, it'll either be really outdated equipment, or... "salvaged" from the battlefield.

I expect them to be on the orky side a bit.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

So this evening I managed to put the finishing touches on the one....

The only....

MASON!
(as featured in my fluff)

Sorry, I know its blurry. But I use my blackberry, so its the best I can do.

Mason is a heavy flamer trooper, therefore all his clothing has a good layer of soot on it.

He's a little on the dumb side, or at least everyone thinks. But what is dumb, is his taste in jokes.

Now as I said I will do my very best to at least get 1 model done every week, no matter my schedule, and this is the one for this week.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

Behold, my loyal followers. I, the great and powerful Weapon, deliver unto you that which you cry for most.

Fluff!

Enjoy.

Spoiler:
“You shoulda seen it boss! You were as graceful as an ork when you went headfirst into the mud.” Mason said with a chuckle. He slammed one hand into the other and blew a raspberry when they connected before he had himself a small laughing fit.
They sat in the wreck of a building that Cally had spotted when they’d made their escape. It was easy to see why the building wasn’t in use by the PDF. The walls were rotted, all the pressure seals had corroded into nothing, the windows had broken and at some point a six inch deep layer of mud and God-Emperor knows what else had seeped up through the cracked floor.
Corr rolled his eyes and winced as Briggs poked at his calf.
“Shut up, Mason.” He hissed as Briggs drew a metal sliver the length of her finger from the meat of his calf.
“I’m no medic, but this probably doesn’t belong there.” She said, holding up the shrapnel to look it over.
“We can’t sit still. We gotta get gone.” Corr said as he tore off his sleeve and wrapped it tightly around his calf. He glared at their prisoner. “What the quickest route to the capital?”
“I can’t. I w-won’t betray my governor to pirate scum like you.” He stammered. Stakely stood behind him, knife in hand, almost visibly begging to cut the man’s throat and let him bleed out.
“Yes you will.” Corr said as he stood up, testing his weight on his leg and finding it tolerable. He trudged over to Nelis and grabbed him by his flak armor to pull him close. “You’ll tell me whatever I want to know. Or I will break every bone in your body in ways they won’t heal. And I will do it slowly, a single bone at a time, until I no longer find it amusing.”
Nelis blanched; his skin unhealthy and pallid beneath his breather.
“No, I take that back. I won’t stop until Stakely no longer finds it amusing.” Stakely let out a harsh laugh and their prisoner began to tremble. He jerked his head to the right and looked down at the filthy muck around his boots.
“If… if you cut straight through the swamp you’ll get there quicker than if you take any of the roads.” He said shamefully. “Don’t let that psycho near me.”
“Good man.” Corr said, letting him go. “We need to move. The whole garrison is on alert and we-”
“Shh!” Briggs snapped, her rifle coming up in an instant. Everyone dropped low and hid in the shadows. Stakley grabbed their guide and pressed his knife to his neck before forcing him down to the ground, his face in the mud.
“Not a peep.” He whispered.
After a long moment a group of ten PDF troopers came cutting through alley outside, rifles in hand. Corr laid still, hand on his pistol, as the troopers marched through. It wasn’t long before they’d passed and Corr tentatively poked his head up.
“We need to be gone. Now.” He said as he climbed out of the filth. As if to punctuate his words there came a loud boom from above that lingered for long moments.
“What the frak?” Cally asked, looking up at the sky from a grimy broken-out window.
“It’s… it’s gonna storm.” Nelis said.
“Is that bad?” Mason asked. Nelis shrugged.
“Not if you really like water. It’ll rain for weeks straight in this area. It’s why this settlement was abandoned; they couldn’t deal with the flood waters.”
As if on cue, fat droplets began to fall from the sky.
“The bad weather will help cover our tracks. But we need to move.” Corr said, as he slung his lasgun. They quickly and quietly left their temporary lodgings and made their way into the swamp at a quick pace, dragging along their guest.

Nelis hadn’t been lying. It had been raining for three solid hours and showed no signs of letting up. Traversing the swamp was getting more dangerous by the minute as what was once a thick mud was now a soupy mess. Twice now Mason had managed to disappear beneath the brackish mire only to reemerge several meters away, swearing up a storm and thrashing like an injured fish. It soon became clear to stay next to the gnarled trees, as their roots formed a decent footing. Well, at least somewhat decent.
Corr despised this planet already. He was soaked. He completely regretted tearing off his sleeve to bind his injured calf, which was probably garnering a horrid infection from spending the last two hours submerged in the swamp on a toxic world.
“I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to lose my leg.” Corr muttered into the vox. He grabbed a nearby branch and hauled himself out of the muck for a moment and looked back at his calf.
“Think of the shiny new prosthetic you’ll get if you don’t die, Sarge!” Stakely said, barely able to control his laugh.
“Right… ‘shiny’ and ‘new’ describes all our equipment.” Mason chortled. Stakely rolled his eyes.
“Awright, awright. So he gets a crap one. He can always steal something better.” Callahan said as he climbed up one of the twisted trees and leaned back against the branches, looking around for a sign of civilization.
“Somehow… all this is still not comforting.” Corr hissed.
“Bloody pirate scum…”
“Already told you, Nelis. We aren’t pirates. We’re Imperial Guard.” Briggs said as she grabbed a branch and pulled herself through the mire. Nelis nodded his head.
“Oh yes. I’m sure. Imperial Guard, sent to stop us awful rebels.” He struggled through the swamp as he spoke, very nearly falling several times.
“Sarge, should we untie him?” Mason asked. “He’d be able to keep up better.”
“He’d also be able to run off better.” Briggs hissed.
“No, he stays tied for now. We can’t have him warning anyone we’re here. We have a time table to meet.” Corr said as he grabbed Nelis by the collar and hauled him out of the muck. “Tell me that we’re getting close.”
Nelis looked around briefly and then nodded to his right.
“The road… it should be about a kilometer in that direction as it circles back towards the capital. The Governor’s mansion is in the middle of the capital.” He then jerked his head in the direction they’d been heading. “If not for the storm we’d probably be seeing the mansion towers already.”
“Surrounded by twenty thousand of the finest PDF troopers this mudball has…” Callahan said with a chuckle.
“No.” Nelis said, “One hundred thousand.”
Corr felt a nagging sense of doubt as it began to claw at the fringes of his mind. Five Chem-Dogs against one hundred thousand planetary defense troopers.
“Well…” Mason muttered, “Least we won’t be lonesome.”

It was another hour of slogging through the mud before they came to anything resembling civilization. It started as a brick path that rose up out of the mire. Then it was a brick path that sprouted poorly maintained huts. The group froze as the took in a skyway some kilometer up, that the slums had cropped up underneath, rising up the support struts towards like lichen growing up the trunk of a tree.
“Home, sweet home.” Nelis said. Corr looked at him, expecting a look of disgust or contempt for their surroundings, but found none. He gripped the man’s uniform and pulled him aside between two of the huts, pulled out his combat knife, and pointed it at his throat as the rest of the team came closer.
“Now you listen. I’m gonna cut your binds. You stay with us, and you stay quiet. If you break our cover, I will end you before they take me down. Understand?” Nelis’s eyes were locked on the knife, but he managed a weak nod. Corr sighed and sliced clean through Nelis’s binds. He shook out his hands and rubbed at his wrists. “Which way do we go if we need to remain hidden?”
“Well… if we stay here you’ll be safe. The arbitrators are almost never down here, let alone the PDF. But, since you need to get to the mansion, we’ll have to cut through the city. And… well… we look like deserters.” Nelis answered, gesturing at the state of our pilfered uniforms. The thick, dark mud still clung to the fabric, despite the deluge of rain that fell from the sky. Mason frowned and wiped at the mud that covered him from head to toe nervously.
“Not my fault… Briggs splashed me.” He muttered. Briggs lowered her head into the palm of her hand and muttered angrily to herself.
“I’m going to kill him, Serevin. I swear it.”
“Right, so we just need to clean up a bit, make ourselves presentable to the Governor, and then blow up his house. I like this plan.” Stakely said as he peered through the window of one of the huts.
“It… it won’t be that simple. He’s barricaded himself in the mansion with his palatial guard. The PDF are the first line of defense, the fortifications the second, and the palatial guard the last.” Nelis added.
“He seems awfully paranoid considering he shouldn’t know we’re coming for him in particular.” Briggs said.
“That’s… well… now that you mention it, he started this about a year ago.” Nelis said quietly. “He… he called an emergency conference with his advisors and the PDF generals. It was shortly thereafter that we were mobilized. We started building fortifications around his mansion and the main city thoroughfares. Then he ordered organized patrols to the abandoned settlements. And then he set up temporary outposts in those abandoned settlements.”
“Like where we found you?” Callahan said. Nelis nodded.
“Something is off. We only got our orders a couple weeks ago.” Corr said. He leaned against the hut for a moment and looked down at the mud in thought. “We were told that there was a munitions stockpile on the mansion grounds. Where is it?”
“Uhh… there’s a bunker at the rear of his estate. He and the Generals had all major ammunition for the PDF in the city moved there. But that bunker is older than the city and its virtually impenetrable.” Nelis muttered.
“We need those munitions. So we’ll need a way inside.” Stakely said as he toyed with his combat knife.
“Impossible. It’d take days of Earthshaker bombardment to get through it.” Corr looked up. Even with a breather obscuring his face, it was clear that he was grinning.
“Then we’ll just have to find someone with the keys, won’t we?”

So, I have no pictures at the moment, but I thought I'd post a little something to let everyone know what's up.

So, I got me one of those 100mm x 150mm Monster Bases that I had originally planned to use for the last competition.

My plan is to get some moldable wire (most likely at the end of next week when I get paid) and shape up soe vague spike shaped towers of varying heights.

Now the contest rules state that the guns must be immoble, but I think this will still count, because it doesnt say that they must be huge.

What I'm sculpting is a secret, but you're welcome to -ITS DEVOURER HIVES!!!

I'm not good with secrets...

"The knee bone's connected to the... thigh bone. The thigh bone's connected to the... something... the something's connected to the... bloody thing... and that's what makes you... you."

Somewhere very close by a mortar impacted. Dirt, and rocks sailed into the air and Needles leaned forward over the open wound he was digging in, shielding his patient.

"Those Orks are getting more accurate. Pretty soon, I might hafta move ya." He looked up and scratched at the mask on his face, smearing it with his patient's blood. "Nah." He returned his attention to his patient and held out his hand.

"Nurse, something sharp if ya please." he said. A dirty servo skull flitted over, a combat knife wrapped in its mechadendrites. Needles turned to it and took the knife. "Thank ya kindly. Can ya give me some light, darlin?" The lumen on the side of the servo skull flickered into life and the shined down on the glistening wound. "Now, where was I. Oh yes. The blood thing's connected to the... wriggling thing. The wriggling thing's connected to the..."

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Tonight, I present to you, Needles.

Needles was sentenced to Savlar after performing unnecessary surgery on his commanding officer. What should've been just a simple bandage for a lasbolt graze to the left shoulder, wound up with the commanding officer's arm being replaced with a bionic device, as well as his left ear and right eye.

His servo-skull, Nurse, is a mystery all its own. He never tells anyone where it came from, and it won't let anyone near it without him being nearby. Many rumors circulate that it is a former lover, that its possessed, or that he was once a magos biologis.

He makes no attempt to keep himself clean. His tools of the trade are typically old and rusted, and yet not one of his patients has ever developed an infection.

Next weekend, I should be able to start working on the League terrain piece. I'll heep you all posted.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I have an update on my project.

Submitted for the approval, of the League of Extraordinary Riveters (and my followers), I call my project...

The Devourer Hives

So I took this base.

And a bit of this moldable wire.

And built up some towers.

I then took a bit of this.

Yes, that's toilet paper. And I wet it and wrapped it around the towers like so.

Now, I couldn't do much else with it this evening (it was too wet). So here's a couple different angles.

And to top it off, a size comparison.

Thoughts and opinions are always welcome.

And since I said I would try to get one character done a week, I present to you, Trooper Wilkes.

"Trooper Wex Wilkes. Step forward." the commissar barked.

Wilkes sighed and shuffled forward a step. The commissar sneered and marched down the line of troopers to stand before Wilkes.

"Whatcha want?" he muttered.

"Trooper! You will stand at attention when addressed by a Commissar of the Imperial Guard!" he barked, spittle flecking Wilkes' face. Wilkes straightened slightly.

"Whatcha want, sir?" he asked. The portly commissar seethed, his face turning red in rage and his hand made for his pistol. Wilkes head snapped forward and there was the sickening crunch of pulverized bone. The commissar's eyes rolled back in his head as blood pour from his destroyed nose and he dropped to the floor in a heap. Wilkes nudged the body with the toe of his boot and looked around at his fellow death world guard.

"Anyone seen the commissar today?" he asked. "Wasn't we 'sposed to have a meeting or somethin'?" The guardsmen smirked and shrugged as two of them grabbed the commissar's body and casually dragged him towards the back door.

Sentenced to Savlar for not saluting his commanding officer. His captain, also made wild accusations about more than a half dozen missing commissars having something to do with Trooper Wilkes He has since developed less of a liking to taking orders.

and that rebreather look always sells a mini, isn´t it?!

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Tonight I didn't get a single figure done like I said I would try to. Things conspired against me, but I did get some work done on my League contest piece.

I took what I had from last week and, listening to advice, coated the whole thing in hot glue.

I criss-crossed the glue on the base to form a complex organic root structure in appearance.

Then I took a bit of this foam and cut the shapes into it for the chitinous plates.

Which were both super glued and hot glued on.

Next week, the painting will begin.

You will need to use an actual primer. paint will not like to stick well to the hotglue, or the neoprene foam.

be sure to use a primer that is good for foam too.... as the regular primer will belt the foam...

and i am not too sure about the foam scales yet... but i keep my gob shut for now^^

tho the only glue surface looks wicked!!!

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Sorry for my lack of updates. I seem to have hit a wall when it comes to this current project. But I did manage a little something.

So, my Devourer/Fleshborer Hive has been rolling around in my mind as I feel like I'm failing at it harder and harder. But here's what I added to it the other day.

I took the WORST IG legs in existence, slapped on a spare torso, and pulled the empty helmet off the sprue. Then, I stole a skull and an arm from my friend's Tomb Kings that he gave me to paint for him something like.... 10 years ago. ANYWAY, after considerable shaving, I managed to fit the skull into the helmet. Then, I snipped off the right hand and replaced it with the skeletal right hand. I also drilled various holes in the body and glued some black beads in place to represent the beetles eating him. Lastly, since the head was sitting really low, I snipped off the elbow at the top of the skeletal arm where I got the hand and glued it down as the neck to raise it a bit (you can't see it).

Then I glued him down onto the base.

As you can see, I may have started painting the tower. But they're nowhere near done.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

So, let's talk a little tactics. I'm thinking heavy gunline for my guard army. I wanna take an Aegis and drop two full platoons behind it. I figure with enough shooting, FRF!SRF!, overwatch, and charging through the aegis, anything that gets into melee deserves to slaughter my guard.

Thoughts?

BTW, I'm NOT a fan of the allies nonsense.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Oh, my, gawd I've updated on time. Truly these are the end times!

ANYWAY, I have two different things to show you tonight.

BEHOLD! My terrain piece.

I'm very nearly done, just a few things to do here and there. Look, the corpse stands out now. Don't worry Vik, he didn't suffer too terribly. (More Nightmare Fuel For YOU!)

And, I painted the chitin plates.

Next, I have something special for you. I may or may not have (I totally did) joined Comrade and Ruglud's Badass Competition.

So, my loyal followers might remember this guy.

Well, I finally got the proper arm I wanted for him.

And, well, since the point of the competition is to make a badass, he clearly needed some foe that he over came. So how about the thing all guardsmen TRULY fear? A complete close combat enemy.

So, I assembled the little dude and bent his limbs to better make him look... well.... dead.

I even bent the tongue to match the pose.

Then, with a quick arm swap on my Badass (working name is Papa), I posed them in the intended final pose.

Looking pretty badass if I do say so myself. With the post finalized, it was time to paint. And this is as far as I got this evening.

Thoughts are always welcome, as are comments and criticism.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

The diorama is coming along nicely and I love the little mini diorama you've done. Almost looks like he is posing over the dead nid for a photo. Keep it up

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

It looks like I'm back to my old ways of not getting updates done on time, however, in an effort to regain some of my lost fans, I hereby shift all the blame on to NashBashem! SHAME ON YOU!!!

And if that doesn't work, its totally GTA V's fault. (Such a good game.)

So, I was looking at my little Badass entry, and I noticed that the gaunt had no cause of death.

Fixed that.

Then, I went on to paint it.

(Please note I have touched it up since this picture was taken.)

Then I started on the guard's uniform.

I had originally thought about painting it light green and goblin green, but they looked too similar, so I made it light green and balor brown instead.

I also repositioned the head. I didn't want him looking at the body like he was surprised he lived. I wanted him looking off in the distance as if to say "Who's next?"

The big diorama piece is pretty much done still. I just need to base it and add minute details here or there.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

I promise Vik, I will put extra rivets in you.

And the gaunt tongue was already there, I just bent it down limp like the limbs and tail. If it were laying there rigid it would've looked really odd.

And nids are fun. But much like Guard and orks, they hurt the wallet to play. You need so many.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I present to you all, Papa.

"Fifteen hours. That's how long they said the average guardsman survives in the field. But there's one thing I was damn sure of. That wasn't gonna apply to me."
- Lars 'Papa' Vorik. The oldest soldier in the Chem-Dogs 66th.

Spoiler:

The sky was alive with flak and fire. The Chem-Dogs had been on planet only a few hours and they'd been tossed head first against the Tyranid splinter fleet that threatened this mudball called Orico. Captain Serevin Corr hustled through the trench, his men behind him as he barked orders.

"Covik! Take your squad, man those autocannon emplacements!" he shouted as he ran. "Bring down those bug bastards!" Seamlessly a unit peeled off of the group and took up position. The trench network was alive with guardsmen of the Orico Planertary Defense Force, many of them young kids and all of them scared out of their minds. Corr shoved a screaming boy aside and pointed at the bunker he'd been come out of.

"Papa! Secure the bunker! Get missile teams in there and take out the big ones!" he shouted. Papa strode out of the group and ducked into the bunker as Corr led them away. It smelled like a lower hive public restroom and a dozen eyes looked up at him. One of the kids stood and saluted.

"S-sir, we jus-" Papa raised his hand and the kid shut up.

"Don't call me, sir." he said, his voice cutting through the din of combat like a bone-saw through a femur. The PDF troops looked lost and Papa sighed and rolled his eyes. "You been through training?" he asked.

"Y-yes si-" Papa eyed him and the trooper swallowed the honorific. "Yes. W-we have." Papa pointed a finger at the lasguns resting against the bunker wall.

"Those work?"

The trooper nodded. Papa smiled and stepped closer to the terrified boy. Then his face twisted into a visage of pure rage.

"Then pick them up, get to that firing lip and start shooting!" he barked. The troopers jumped and scrambled for their weapons as if the Emperor himself had given them an order. "Move it! Move it! Those 'Nids won't rid the galaxy of themselves!"

Suddenly, from the firing slit came a feral scream. The troopers froze in place, the sound chilling them to the core. Papa turned and locked eyes with a snarling, drooling Tyranidas it slashed at the flak board firing slit with his talons until it managed to squeeze through and enter the bunker. Papa sneered and looked sidelong at the trooper. He was unsurprised to find them paralyzed with pants-filling fear.

He took off his helmet and handed it to one of the kids and then followed it with his lasgun.

"Hold this you worthless slime." he spat as he reached behind his back and wrapped his fingers around the hilt of his blade. He drew the long jungle knife out slowly and took a few steps toward the hormagaunt. Beady red eyes set in pallid blue flesh locked onto Papa and ropey drool spilled from its open mouth.

"C'mon you ugly bastard. I have more to kill than just you tonight, don't think yourself special." he muttered as he held up the knife. The hormagaunt raised its talons and lunged forward. The PDF troopers squealed and backed against the bunker wall as Papa stepped aside. The gaunt lunged past him, its focus shifted to the terrified troopers. Papa lashed out with his free hand and dug his fingers under the purple chitin just behind the gaunt's neck and stopped it just short of eviscerating the troopers. He pulled with all his might and lifted the gaunt off its feet and threw it to the dirt.. Before it could react he slammed his knife down between its ribs with all his strength. Chitin crunched and thick red blood spilled from the wound as vital organ were sliced apart. The gaunt's feral growling became a pathetic whimper as its movement became sluggish. Then, as quickly as it began, the gaunt went slack, its tongue lolling out of its slack jaw. Papa stood up straight and wiped his forehead on the back of his sleeve. He turned to the PDF troops who were huddled together in shock. He moved over to them and took his lasgun and helmet back.

"What're you waiting for?! Get to that firing lip before another climbs in here!"

I also present to you, the Fleshborer Hive

Spoiler:

Orico was supposedly beautiful once. But since he'd set foot on it , Corr had seen nothing but landscape spoiled by Tyranids, combat, and a lot of death. The rolling fields at the edge of Cardis, the capital city, had been pocked by artillery fire, spore mine explosions and countless dead. The battle in this region was nearly over, and the Chem-Dogs had come out of it surprisingly well. Of the two thousand Dogs that made planet fall, almost seventeen hundred were still upwardly mobile and only a few dozen had needed cleaning off the walls. Corr stood on a 'differently procured' PDF Salamander as it drove over the mounds of dead Tyranids. Chitin crunched under the treads and Corr smiled.

"No 'Nid like a dead 'Nid." he said as he fished a hand into his pocket for his lho sticks and put one between his lips. Mason held up his heavy flamer and Corr used the ignition flame to light his smoke.

"That sounds like something I would say, boss." Mason said. Corr smirked and exhaled a cloud of smoke at him.

"You're right. Maybe I should see Needles about that." he said. Mason waved a meaty hand at him and looked out at the blasted landscape.

"Boss, we got something up ahead." the driver called from the cab. Corr turned his attention forward and squinted in the morning sun.

"Is it the missing recon team?" he asked.

"I really doubt it." the driver responded. Corr was about to ask when he saw what he had meant.

"Mason, I'm glad you brought your flamer. We're gonna need it." Corr said. Mason stood and peered in the same direction Corr was.

Up ahead, stood three.... growths.

"The hell??" Mason muttered. Corr banged his hand hard on the Salamander.

"Stop the ride, Bash!" The Salamander skidded to a stop just a few meters from the growths. "Cut the engines!" Corr shouted. Bash complied and the Salamander engine cut out almost instantly. The growths were buzzing loudly as he opened the driver's hatch and poked his head out.

"Its a hive..." Corr muttered as he hopped down from the Salamander. Mason dropped down behind him and hefted his heavy flamer. They took a few slow steps forward and Corr pointed.

"Look." he said. Mason stopped. At the base of the hives was a body in the livery of the of the Oricon PDF, reduced to little more than bloody bones in a torn up uniform.

"That must be the recon team the colonel sent out earlier." Mason said as he scratched at the side of his nose.

"Part of it at least." Corr muttered. Corr took a step forward and the glistening tendrils that spread out from the bases of the hives twitched and pulsated, wrapping tighter around the corpse, and the noise of the hive grew louder. Corr stopped and his brow furrowed. The earth around them moved as the root system or... whatever it was, moved as the towers sensed a presence nearby. Shiny black beetles skittered from hidden pockets in the blue flesh of the hives and began to climb over its surface. Corr pulled his lho stick from his lips and flicked it at the towering growths.

"Bash. Put a call into PDF command, we need a Hellhound down here to take care of this. I doubt Mason would be able to get close enough to torch it himself."

"Sure thing, boss." Bash nodded and climbed back into the tank to make the call.

Corr strode back to the tank and climbed back up with Mason in tow.

"Where we goin'?" he asked.

"Back to camp." Corr responded. "We found the recon team. Nothing left for us to do here. Take us back, Bash." The Salamander engine roared into life and backed away from the hive growths.

Thanks Meade.

I really enjoy the fluff. I'm trying to cultivate an army with a feel to it, ya know? So if its just a boring uniform solid army, it doesn't have the feel of a living breathing mass.

Though I do want to paint my conscripts in the standard orange and black uniform as planned on the first page. They're the faceless majority, they don't need a story.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I'm very excited today guys. I can finally get back to painting my Chem-Dogs army! And to start it off, I have some truly amazing customs I ordered from the very talented Meade.

BAM!

The Ladies of the 66th!

Now, I'm not sure what all he used for the build, you'd have to ask him. But MAN are they gonna look good in my army when all is said and done!

But to start with, I thought I'd shed a little light on the star female of my little story, Briggs.

That being said, I haven't written more to the story yet, but I will, I promise.

I really love the detail he put into her, I'm only hoping I can do her justice when she's all painted up. Speaking of paintined, here's how her camo-cloak looks.

Sorry for the blurry photos, I'm still using my phone. If anyone can suggest a decent digital camera for cheap I'd get it to improve shots.

So, for her uniform, I went with Mechanicus Standard Grey. I figure she shouldn't be caught dead in that orange uniform. Or... rather that's exactly how she'd be caught in that bright a color. The arms have some pretty sweet gloves and elbow pads, so I made those all Gorthor brown I believe. Along with her boots. She also has some shoulder pads that are about half the same color, though the top half has a copper to it.

As is becoming the trend, I will write up a little story when she is finished and post her here.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

And now for something completely different.

On another forum I'm a part of I write a yearly Halloween scary story.

Thusly, I present to any interested party, my Campfire Tale 2013.

Enjoy.

Spoiler:
You know how your parents always told you not to go out at night? It’s not for fear of muggings, maniacs and killers. Those can happen in the daylight as well. No, it’s because of what their parents told them and their grandparents to their children, and so on and so forth back through the ages. The night is dangerous not for who is in it, but what.

“Simon! It’s time to come inside now! It’s getting dark!”
Simon looked up and craned his head towards his home where his mom stood on the porch. He was a typical six year old boy, and rolled his eyes as he begrudgingly trudged towards his home.
“But mo-o-o-om! It’s not dark out yet!” he whined. His mom put her hands on her hips and fixed him with her ‘Don’t test me’ glare. He sighed and stepped past her into the house.
“Did you finish your homework before you went outside?” his mom asked, shutting and locking the front door behind them.
“Yes.”
“All of it.”
He rolled his eyes again.
“Yes mom, all of it.”
His mom smiled and reached down to ruffle his sandy blonde hair. “Good boy. Now go upstairs and get in to bed. You have school in the morning.” Simon sighed and his shoulders sagged.
“But I’m not even tired…” he muttered as he slowly climbed the stairs. If his mother heard him, she gave no sign as she returned to the other room to wait for Simon’s father to return from work. Once in his room, Simon shed his play clothes and slipped into his favorite pair of pajamas. Despite his earlier argument, the moment he began climbing into bed, a sigh escaped him. “Nope. I’m… not… tired….” He muttered to himself as his eyelids grew heavy and he drifted off to sleep.

Tap tap tap.
Simon’s eyes fluttered open and he looked around groggily.
“Mom?” he whispered as he rubbed at his eyes.
Tap tap tap.
Simon looked around his room. The hallway door was cracked and the light shined like a beacon across his darkened room, casting eerie shadows from the various toys and things that littered his floor.
Tap tap tap.
Slowly Simon turned his gaze to his window. He cocked his head to the side and rubbed his eyes once more. No… it couldn’t be. There, outside his window, stood a G. I. Joe. Not a real one, but… one of his toys, and it was tapping its hand on the glass. It looked right at him with its motionless plastic eyes and tapped again.
Tap tap tap.
Simon smiled and scooted out of bed. He opened his door and hurried down the hallway.
“Mom! Dad! My toy is alive! My toy is alive!” he said excitedly as he pushed open their door and rushed to their bedside. The hallway light shined directly into his father’s eyes and he winced and pulled the blankets up over his face as his son rushed over to him.
“Ngh, what is-” he grunted as his son grabbed at the blankets and pulled them away from his father’s face.
“Dad! Dad you gotta come look! My toy is alive! Come look!” he said, as he pulled on his father’s hand.
“It’s jus’ a dream buddy. G-go back ta sleep…” his dad said, as he pulled his hand free and waved his son off. Simon scowled and grabbed at his father’s hand again.
“No dad! Come look! You gotta see!” he said, his voice getting louder. His father inhaled deeply and pushed himself up to a seated position, his eyes blinking into focus.
“Okay okay, shhhh, you’ll wake your mom.” He said as he yawned. He stepped out of bed as Simon hurried down the hall back towards his room, his father shuffling along behind him. Simon hurried over to his window, and sure enough the toy was still there, tapping against the glass with a small plastic hand.
Tap tap tap.
Simon beamed. He KNEW he hadn’t been dreaming. His dad staggered into the room, rubbing at his eyes and yawning.
“Buddy, it’s so early, what’re you doin’ u-”
“Look look! See, I told you! My toy is alive.” He said, as he pointed at the window. His dad stopped mid-step and stared.
Tap tap tap.
The toy, tapped once more, and waved. Simon’s dad reached out and gripped his son’s shoulder and pulled him away from the window.
“C’mere son.” He said, not taking his eyes off of… whatever it was that he was looking at.
“But… but dad. We need to let him in. It’s cold outside.” He said as he father ushered him towards the bed.
“Get back into bed, Simon. I’ll… I’ll let him in.” he muttered. Simon climbed back into his bad, and scooted as close to the foot of the bed as he could as his father neared the window. Tentatively, his father reached out and opened the window, little by little. The cold night’s air drifted in and Simon pulled his blanket around him as he watched excitedly as his dad opened the window. The little toy bent backwards and looked up at the giant that stood before it. It raised its arm and waved once more, before falling on its side. Simon’s dad stared it for a moment and slowly reached out to pick it up. The plastic was cold to the touch, like it had been outside, but otherwise unremarkable. He turned to his son and sat back on the window sill.
“That was a good trick. How’d you do it?” he asked; a smile on his face. Simon stuck out his bottom lip and sat back.
“It wasn’t a trick. It was alive.” He said, crossing his arms over his chest. His dad shrugged and tossed the toy at his son, who caught it.
“Well, whatever. I’m going back to bed. You should t-”
His words were suddenly lost as he was pulled bodily through the window and disappeared into the darkness.
“DADDY!!!!!”

Simon sat up like a shot, cold sweat dripping down his face and his heart pounding in his chest. He snatched up his cell phone, and with trembling fingers he punched in a number he’d long since memorized. The phone rang several times before a weak voice answered him.
“H-hello?”
“Doctor Carlton! It’s S-Simon!” he said frantically. “I-I-I had the dream again!” the man on the other end of the phone inhaled deeply.
“It’s okay, Simon. Calm down. Tell me what happened.”
“It’s the dream, Doc. The same dream. With the toy and my dad and everything.” The doctor was quiet for a long moment.
“I thought we’d gotten past this, Simon.”
“Yeah, well so did I! Y-you think I like waking up in a cold sweat, seeing my father ripped out of my window right in fron-”
“Let me stop you there, Simon. We’ve discussed this. Your father wasn’t taken. He left you and you mother in the middle of the night fifteen years ago. This, imagining, that he was taken from your bedroom by some unseen force was just your mind trying to cope with the sudden void his absence created.”
“But… that’s just it Doc, the dream was so much more… vivid this time. I remembered little details that-”
“Simon.” The doctor interrupted. “You know what really happened that night.”
“But Doc, it was-”
“I know it SEEMED real. But you know the truth. It’s traumatic, and unfortunate, but it’s the truth. Your father left you.”
Simon grew quiet and looked down at his hands.
“Yeah Doc, you’re right.” He muttered.
“Look, it’s very clear that this is really bothering you. How about you come see me at my office in the morning? Does eleven o’clock sound alright?”
“Yeah… I’ll be there. Thanks Doc, and… I’m sorry for calling so early.”
“It’s alright, Simon. I’ll see you in the morning. Goodnight.” The phone clicked and Simon slowly lowered his hand to his lap and clicked off his phone.
“Yeah… goodnight….” He muttered.

Doctor Russell Carlton’s office was plain and unassuming. It tried very hard to convince people that the good doctor wasn’t making a small fortune at what he does. But its location, right in the heart of downtown, was a dead giveaway. The lobby was just like any doctor’s office. It smelled of disinfectant and had magazines sitting on the table that were atrociously out of date. As he thumbed through the stacks he paused and stared a time magazine that had been there since he started his sessions with Doctor Carlton more than a decade ago. He smirked as he flipped through the pages. It was the only kid-friendly magazine the doctor had had.
“Simon?” Simon jumped as a sweet voice broke his silent concentration. He looked over at the receptionist, a small woman by the name of Mallory and smiled sheepishly. “Doctor Carlton’s ready for you.” She said, gesturing towards the door behind her.
“Y-yeah. Thanks.” He said, as he set the magazine down and opened the door. Doctor Carlton sat behind his desk, reading over Simon’s file as Simon shut the door behind himself.
“Rough night, huh Simon?” he said as he lowered the folder, a smile framed by his well-trimmed goatee.
“Yeah…” Simon said as he took a seat on the couch. “You could say that….”
“What do you think prompted last night’s little episode?” Russell asked as he stood up and moved to the chair across from Simon.
“I dunno,” he shrugged, leaning back in the couch and staring at the floor. “It just... prompted itself, I guess.”
“We both know that’s not how it works. There had to have been some sort of trigger event that prompted your nightmare. So, let’s start from the beginning of your day yesterday. What’d you do?” he asked as he crossed one leg over the other and sat back. Simon sighed and rubbed his face.
“I woke up, went to work, came home, fixed dinner and watched television until I went to sleep.”
“What’d you watch?”
“Glee.”
“Ah. Well, I suppose we can’t blame that for your nightmare, can we? What else did you do? Read anything?”
“No Doc, just Glee, then bed. I don’t actively seek out things that give me panic attacks!” Simon said as he stood up and began to pace back and forth.
“Calm down, Simon. It was only a question.”
“Yeah, well it was a stupid question!”
“Well, we can’t get to the bottom of things without asking questions, can we?”
“No…” Simon relented. “I guess not.”
“Please. Sit.” Russell said, pointing at the chair. Simon sighed and lowered himself back down.
“Let’s talk about your childhood some more.”
“Yeah… let’s…”

Another session down and another paycheck down the drain. Years of therapy with Doctor Carlton and yet no real progress to speak of. And if that wasn’t enough, he then had to go in to work and put in extra time to make up what he’d missed for his latest session. He sighed as he tapped away at his keyboard, his eyes locked on his computer screen. It seemed like once a month, he was having these nightmares, and more than once it had affected his work. Not that his work was terribly important. He worked for the paper, and was in charge of posting various articles and ‘newsworthy’ items on the paper’s webpage. Most of job duties involved browsing other news websites and trying to one-up their stories. Simon sighed as he browsed The Tribune’s news.
Mayor Worthington to be indicted on fraud charges.
Old news.
Local mule predicts big game winning play.
Nonsense.
Boy claims a toy stole his mother in the middle of the night.
His blood ran cold. Surely it’s a coincidence, and nothing more. He moved his mouse over the link, and clicked.

“Late last night Billy Masterson, a six year old local boy, called the police claiming that his mother had been stolen. Police arrived on scene to find that his mother was indeed not home though all signs point that she had been at one point…”

Simon’s heart began to pound.

“Billy claims that his mother, Teresa Masteron, was tucking him into bed when they both noticed a teddy bear dancing on the window sill. He goes on to say that his mother opened the window and was promptly pulled away. Police checked the window, but found no sign of his mother, a struggle or a teddy bear…”

Simon leaned back in his seat and stared at his screen in disbelief. His heart felt like it was going to beat its way free of his chest. Maybe he wasn’t as insane as he thought.
“Uhhh… Bill!” Simon said as he stood up. Bill Waters looked up from his desk as Simon approached. He stared at him over his glasses.
“Ah, Simon. Have another little video link to share?” he asked, already sounding bored.
“No, I… I need you to cover for me for a bit.” Bill sat forward, his interest suddenly piqued.
“Why? What’s going on?” he asked.
“Um… I just… Uhh…” Simon stammered as he rubbed at the back of his head.
“Um uh what? Feeling ill? Have to meet a girl? New video game just get released?” Bill guessed. Simon rolled his eyes and sighed.
“There’s a story I want to follow up on… okay?” he muttered.
Bill’s grin widened.
“You’re a webmaster, not a reporter.”
“Yeah, which means I’ll also need to borrow your press pass.”
Bill shook his head and unclipped the small badge from his jacket.
“Tell me the real reason you want to go there.” Bill said, holding the ID card out like a tennis ball to a dog. “And then I’ll give you the card.”
Simon sighed and his shoulders sagged.
“It sounds a lot like what happened with my dad when I was about that kid’s age. I… I need to look into it.”
Bill’s eyebrow peeked.
“And what are you hoping to find?” he asked.
Simon shrugged.
“The truth?” he said. Bill scowled.
“If you get in trouble, I’m telling them you stole this from me.” He said as he held the badge out. Simon took it and quickly tucked it into his pocket.
“Thanks Bill, I’ll be back as quick as I can!” he said, and hurried off.
“Yeah you better!” Bill called after him.

The drive to the boy’s house took more time than it had to call up various reporting contacts to find where he lived. He lived on the outskirts of the city but his grandparents had taken him into their custody when his mother had gone missing. He wasn’t much interested in speaking to the child. He’d been distressed enough without having a twenty-seven year old man dredging up what will clearly haunt him for years yet to come. No, he didn’t need to help someone with their developing neuroses.
Simon pulled to stop in front of the Masterson home and shut off his car. Aside from the police cordon, the house looked every bit the cheerful place it was intended to be. He opened his door and stood up, resting his elbow on his open door and the other on the roof of his car.
“Can I help you?” a voice called out. Simon turned, startled by the sudden noise. A police officer stood behind his open squad car door, eyeing Simon suspiciously.
Was that here a minute ago?
“Uh… yeah. Sorry, officer. My name is Simon Cord. I work for the Gazette.” Simon said. “I have my ID if you need it.”
The officer shut his car door and sauntered over.
“Please.” He said. Simon fished his hand into his pocket and pulled out his borrowed ID card and handed it to the officer.
“I’m here about the missing woman. It’s… very similar to something that happened to my father.” Simon said, his voice trailing off.
“I see.” The officer said as he handed back the ID. “Sir, this is an active crime scene. I’m gonna have to ask you to move along.”
“Before I go, I’d like to ask some questions if I-” Simon said, as he pulled a small notepad form his jacket pocket. The officer sighed and rolled his eyes quite theatrically.
“Always so inquisitive…” the cop muttered. Simon looked up from his pad, his eyebrow raised.
“I’m… I’m sorry?” he asked. The cop shook his head and waved at Simon.
“Nothing. What’s your question?” he asked.
“I just wanted to know more about this… dancing bear.” Simon said. The cop sighed loudly and pointed.
“Look you whack-job. You need to leave. Now.”
“B-but… I’m serious… I-” Simon began. The cop placed his right hand on his pistol and then pointed at Simon’s car.
“Get back in your car, sir. Now.” Simon stepped back and put up his hands defensively.
“Okay. Okay. I’m going.” He said. He sat back down in the driver’s seat and pulled the door shut. He looked into his rearview mirror as the cop slowly started to walk back towards his squad car. Simon squinted and leaned towards the mirror and then shook his head. For a moment it looked like there was some kind of… thread or wire coming off the officer. Simon shook his head.
“That’s crazy…” he muttered as he started the engine.

“Hey Simon. I take it you found what you were looking for?” Bill said as Simon trudged back into the paper. Simon dropped the ID onto Bill’s desk and hunched over.
“Not even close. All I found was a cop with an attitude problem. Couldn’t get a single question answered.” He said as he took a seat.
“Well, you’re in luck.” Bill said with a sly smile. He rolled his chair to the filing cabinet behind him and fished for a moment before pulling a manila folder out. He rolled back over to Simon and dropped the folder in his lap.
“What’s this?” Simon asked as he opened the folder.
“Well… you mentioned your father before you left. So I did some digging. I pulled up your story. Then I pulled up the kid’s today. And then I found similar stories that date back the last… hundred years or so.”
Simon flipped through page after page of newspaper copies, the pages getting older as he did so.
“It… its almost the same. Children see a moving toy, and then a parent goes missing. Some of its glossed over, some gets better coverage like the Masterson Kid… some… wait. Some of these are just missing persons reports. How did you get these?” Simon asked as he looked up a Bill. Bill, decidedly pleased with himself stood as he grabbed his coat of the small hook in his cubicle.
“Don’t you trouble yourself with the how, Simon. Just appreciate that I did.” He said as he pulled on his coat. “Now, I’m calling it a day. You, my friend, have about three hours to make up.” He pat Simon on the shoulder as he moved past him. “Enjoy your reading.” He called, but Simon didn’t hear him. He was lost in his own little world of thought.

1908 – Wilson and Marietta Carter are missing. Young Trevor says the night took them.
1913 – Aaron Jones reported missing. Last seen at home with his young daughter, Mallory.
1920 – Warren Alter flagged down an officer early this morning in hysterics that the devil had taken his mother from their house.
1921 – Elizabeth Johns found sitting in the road outside her home, muttering incoherently about her mother and father, neither of which could be found.
1928 – Frederic Alan wanted for questioning in the disappearance of his wife Rita. Jessica Alan, the daughter, claims that her father is innocent and that her mother was stolen from her bedroom by her dancing dolly.

It goes on, and on; one story after another for years. Hundreds of missing persons, all with similar stories to his own. Simon set the folder down on his desk, at some point having wandered back to it from Bill’s cubicle. He felt a cold sweat on the back of his neck and a rising panic in his chest. He fished his hand into his pocket and pulled his cell phone out with fear numbed fingers and hastily pressed buttons.
“Hello, this is Doctor Carlton.”
“D-doc! It’s Simon. I-I-I… I need to talk to you.”
“Simon? What’s wrong? You sound anxious.”
“Doc! I-I told you I wasn’t crazy! There’s hundreds of them! People with stories just like mine! Stories of their parents being stolen away by… by something!”
“Slow down, Simon. You’re not making any sen-”
“This has been happening for over a century Doc, and that just as far back as our newspapers go! I bet if we could look into it, the local tribes might have some kind of information on-on…. Whatever is happening here!” Simon said as he hastily tapped at his keyboard, looking up information on local tribal myths.
“Simon. Do you realize what it is you’re convincing yourself of? Perhaps you’ve been watching too many crime dramas on television. You’re seeing ridiculous connections and grasping at strings that don’t actually exist.”
“But… but Doc, there’s so much evidence and all of it seems to fit together! I-I can’t be wrong on this! There’s too much certainty!”
“Simon, be reasonable. You’re forcing patterns to exist where you desperately want them to.”
“No Doc. I’m right about this, you have to trust me.”
There was a long pause, and for what seemed like minutes all Simon could hear was breathing and the scribbling of a pen on paper.
“Doc?”
“You… you are too inquisitive…” came a faint whisper over the phone. Simon took the phone away from his head and looked at it strangely.
“W-what?” Simon said, moving the phone back to his ear.
“I didn’t say anything, Simon. I’m making notes in your file. I think you should come in and talk to me in person tomorrow.”
“But… I just heard you say… I just heard someone say I was too inquisitive.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Simon. Perhaps it’s best if we put you back on Chlorpromazine for a little while until you calm down.”
“No Doc! No more drugs! I swear I’m not yanking your chain here! There is a real connection here! I know it!”
“Simon, you’re being irrational. You need to calm down and-”
“And what?! Medicate up to my eyeballs and pretend that everything is hunky dory! No Doc! I need to look into this!”
Again, there was a long pause, only this time, the breathing seemed… loud and slow.
“Foolish meat…” came a voice like rotting flesh sloughing from bone.
“What? Who is- Doc? Are you alright?” Simon said.
“You, who were granted life, now seek to throw your gift back in my face.”
“Who are you!?”
“I am the one you fear.” The voice responded matter-of-factly.
“That doesn’t ans-”
A hand clamped down on Simon’s shoulder and he jumped out of his chair and spun around. Bill was standing there, head hung low as he looked at Simon with cold, unblinking eyes.
“Bill? I thought you le-”
“I am the one you seek.” He said through slack lips, his voice rasping as though something were wrapped tightly around his throat. Simon felt his throat go dry.
Wh-what?” he stammered.
Slowly Simon craned his head around. The entire news floor had gone silent and everyone was standing and looking at him.
“I am the Holder of Strings.” they spoke in one voice. Simon’s heart pounded in his chest and he stumbled out into the aisle and out of his cubicle.
“What’s going on?”
“You have given up the gift I have given you.” They answered. “Like so many before you.”
Simon backpedaled down the aisle, every head turning to follow him as one.
“Gift? What are you talking abou-OOF!” his own words were cut off as he backed into someone, he spun around and saw the cop from earlier, staring at him just as everyone else was.
“The gift of your mortal life.”
“What are you talking about?!” he shouted as he pushed past the cop and sprinted to the elevators. He jabbed his finger into the button repeatedly and looked over his shoulder. None of them had moved. The elevator chimed and as the doors parted Simon came face to face with Teresa Masterson, the missing mother from the news, still dressed in her sleep clothes.
“I didn’t take you that night, Simon. I took your father. As I took this woman here.” she said, stepping off the elevator. Simon backed away from her in a hurry.
“You… you what?” Simon said barely above a whisper.
“I do what I must as often as I must, this is the right I have been granted by all that is.” she said as she padded towards him, her arm hanging limp at her side. Simon fall backwards, tripping over his own panic numbed legs and quickly scooted backwards. The others had begun to step from their cubicles, following the Masterson woman down the aisle after Simon.
“This is my land. It has been since long before your kind first crawled from the festering waters and polluted it. I was content just to be. But as humanity rose to the seat of power, they encroached upon my domain. I found myself pushed to the edges as you built and revolutionized. I was torn asunder by your petty wars and left at your tender mercies. I began to fester, before I learned how useful you could be.”
“What are you?” Simon whispered. Teresa’s lips drew back into a wicked smile.
“I am the Holder of Strings.” She said.
“What’d you do with my dad?!” Simon said as he scrambled to his feet. Teresa licked her lips.
“I used his flesh as fuel to survive. As I have done with those before. As I will do with this one.” Simon’s stomach churned.
“You… you ate him?!?” he said, choking the bile back down that had begun to rise up.
“I made sure he served a purpose.”
“My dad’s purpose was not to be your dinner!” Simon screamed.
“That was the purpose I gave him. One that he fulfilled perfectly.”
“And all the others? Were they dinner too?”
“I used them as was necessary at the time. Food, messengers, whatever my needs may have been.” The chorus responded.
“You’re a monster! I will put you in the ground if it’s the last thing I do!” Simon shouted, pointing at the crowd. The chorus laughed as one, an altogether eerie sound.
“You would not be the first. You will not be the last.” Simon grit his teeth and grabbed scissors off a nearby desk, brandishing them menacingly.
“Show yourself! Or I swear I’ll-”
Immediately the tone changed. The eyes locked on him grew angry and voices rose.
“You would threaten me!” they roared. “I who gave you your life when you too would have served as fuel!” The crowd moved forward quickly, and Simon backpedaled until his back hit the wall.
“You ruined my life!”
“Your life was mine when you were born to my lands!”
“Show yourself! And we’ll see just whose life is forfeit! Stop hiding behind these… these people!” The crowd froze, eyes locked on Simon. Suddenly Teresa dropped limp to the floor, like a marionette with its strings suddenly cut. Then Bill, and then one by one, each of them dropped to the floor until Simon and one figure at the far end of the room were left standing. Simon glared at him and pointed the blades of the scissor at him.
“Are you him!?” he shouted across the quiet news floor.
The figure spread out its long arms, a black shroud hanging off its limbs.
“I am He Who Holds The Strings.” the chorus spoke from their prone positions.
“No more games!”
“Dear little mortal. You pose no threat to me.” A single voice rang out from across the room. The same voice Simon had heard over the phone, the voice of meat falling from bone.
“Come here and say that!” Simon shouted. Suddenly the figure was gone, like a figment of Simon’s imagination. Simon looked around the barren room but saw… nothing. Slowly he lowered the scissors. Then he felt it, the warm wetness at the back of his neck. A chill ran down his spine but try as he might, not one muscle in his body would move.
“But you will not be fuel.” A voice whispered in his ear. Slowly his hand rose up, the blades of the scissors exposed. Simon wanted to open his mouth, to plead, to swear, but the Holder of Strings had not deemed it so. The blades pressed against his throat on either side and then quickly snapped shut.

“Bill!”
Bill looked up from where he’d been writing his next story and smiled cheerfully at Susan.
“Hey Suzy.” He croaked as the petite blonde sidled up to his cubicle and looked around like she was about to spill a secret.
“Yikes, what happened to your throat?” she asked. Bill shrugged.
“I think I have the same sore throat that everyone else on this floor seems to have.” He said.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I hope you feel better. Did you hear about Simon?” she asked.
Bill smiled wide.
“Course I did. I’m the one who recommended him for the promotion.” He said proudly.
“How long is he going to be gone?” she asked.
“I dunno. Last I heard he was being sent to the Europe. But he seemed excited to go. He was eager to write about something bigger than himself. He kept muttering something about being a messenger.”
“That does sound important. I hope he stays safe.”
“Me too.” Bill said as he looked back at Simon’s no empty cubicle. “Me too.”

Senseless gore isn't horrifying as much as it is nauseating. This is why I don't like Rob Zombie movies, Saw, Hostel, etc.

Leaving it to someone imagination is far far worse.

That was a pretty cool story I'm glad it wasn't a gore fest. Sometimes it just isn't needed

Cool! Different than how I would have painted her but that's what makes it fun... seeing other people's take on things... and nice work on the face and camo cloak!

Love the model, and especially the rifle. Meade did a good job, and the paintwork makes it even better! But... isn't wearing a camo cloak and then having bright blue tubing a bit contradictory?

Thanks Meade!

And MauS, ideally, she'd be prone to take her shot, and the cloak would cover the power cable.

I believe I combined the scar + CH sniper rifle (adding a 'laser' bit to the end and gluing the sight from the sniper on the top) and the stock is two pieces of wire drilled into just some random piece I had (tbh can't remember what it came from), i carved it a bit so it looked like a stock.

yes very useful when you have an arm with a hand that's supposed to be holding something... yet nothing to hold rather than reposition the hand.

@Bash: Of course they are!

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Today I've actually finished the woman who will lead my squad of women warriors.

Behold! Sergeant Annabelle Riggs.

Annabelle was sentenced to Savlar for multiple violations of the Imperial Primer.

Upon being pressed into the Savlar 66th, the female inmates flocked to her in droves until she rallied them into her own unit. The Valkyrior.

That's all I got done this weekend. I'm having a problem with the troll forged ganger girl. Paint won't adhere to her. I think she's still plagued by mold lubricant, but I can't seem to clean it off. Any suggestions?

i'd suggest the warm soapy water and toothbrush method. I like the look of how these models are turning out. Keep up the good work! We need more backstory though

Sorry for the lack of updates my lovely subscribers. But I haven't been totally inactive.

I started painting up my troll forged ganger girl. So I figured I should work out some sort of story for her.

Enjoy.

Spoiler:

It took a certain kind of tenacity to grow up on Necromunda. Not up in the spires mind you, but down where the sun is but a dream, and the air is fouled by pollution. That's where I'm from. God-Emperor how I miss it sometimes. ~ Tanis on her life on Necromunda

Tanis was perched on a rock, overlooking the battlefield. Her long legs folded neatly beneath her in a squat. She was bored. The fighting was miles away, and that good-for-nothing know-it-all Corr had assigned her to guard duty. HER! GUARD DUTY! She seethed as she stabbed her knife into the dirt, muttering under her breath.

"Stupid... stupid... hate this job..." she hissed. "Tanis, you're on guard duty." she said, deepening her voice to imitate Corr. "Watch the depot. They may try to come around and sabotage it." With a grunt she stabbed her knife into the dirt and growled, her pink hair falling in front of her face. Even her sister Nieves wasn't held back like this. Nieves was out there in the thick of the fighting, pushing the separatists back with her girls. Tanis sighed and hung her head.

"Please.... Pleeeeeeeeeeease God-Emperor.... give me something to do! I'm soooooo booooooooooored...." she whined.

"I'm tellin' ya guys, we take some supplies and we can sell them to the Seps!"

Tanis lifted her head and turned in the direction of the voice.

Four men, four Chem-Dogs strode through the ammo dump, their weapons slung. They were sizing it up like a piece of meat.

"I'm not so sure we should be doing this, guys." one muttered, hanging back from the group. Tanis dropped low to the ground like a cat and snatched up her knife. Finally, something to do.

"Quit yer whinin'. Everyone's at the front. This place is ripe for the picking. We takes some guns and we sell them to the Seps in exchange for safe passage off world. Then we'll be free of Savlar and of the Navy! We can do anythin'!"

Tanis smirked. They couldn't really think that would work. The separatists were fighting a losing battle. That's why only the 66th had been deployed to deal with them. If these fools really thought that had anything that would help, they deserved what was coming to them.

The men moved over to a stack of munitorum crates with lasgun stamped into the side. One of the men, so big he could pass for a small Ogryn, bent and lifted the heavy crate over his shoulder like it was empty.

"C'mon. Grab a crate and let's go." the big man said.

"Aww, going so soon?" she purred. she leapt up and wrapped her forearm around the man at the back of the group. He shrieked and clutched at Tanis' wrist.

"Nonononono! I told you we shouldn't be here guys!" he whimpered. Tanis rolled her eyes and tightened her hold.

"Oi, grow a pair and shut it." she hissed in the man's ear. "Did I hear you correctly. Sell our kit to the Seps and try and escape off world?"

"Yeah. You heard right, girly. You want to j-" the big man started, Tanis snarled.

"You're a bunch of fools! The Fortune's Favored is in orbit! You'd never get past it!"

The two men between Tanis and the big man looked towards their leader.

"Don't listen ta her! She's in the way. Kill 'er and let's be done already!"

A wicked grin marred Tanis' features.

"So its gonna be like that? Fine, ya wanna see what I learned when I was a little girl?" she asked.

*****

Corr was exhausted, filthy and nursing a flesh las burn across his right cheek. The battle hadn't been the hardest to win, but neither did the Separtists simply roll over and accept fate. The PDF would most likely be hunting down stragglers for weeks to come, if not years. He sighed as he approached the ammo dump. The munitorum had been given the all clear, and one their way with Navy security teams to relieve the Chem-Dogs of their weapons before returning them to the ship. Now it was a waiting game. As he crested the hill to the depot he found Tanis sitting on a rock, jabbing her knife into the dirt.

"Tanis. I trust nothing happened while we were fighting." he called. Tanis looked up. She shrugged and looked back down.

"Nothin' of note." she muttered. Suddenly a disheveled looking Chem-Dog ran up from the stacks of ammunition and supplies and over to Tanis. Corr's eyebrow rose drastically as he looked over the man. His clothes were torn and smeared with mud and blood and a "T" had been carved into his forehead. But it wasn't until he spoke that Corr realized something else. The man's teeth had been knocked out.

"Miftriff Tanif..." he mumbled through a swollen mouth and fat lips. Tanis looked up at him as though she were bored.

"Yes?"

"We've finifed wif the cleaning." Corr's head slowly cocked to the side and a look of confusion swept over his features. Tanis reached out a hand towards the man who flinched and ducked away, like he was preparing for some terrible blow. Tanis simply patted his head like he was a dog.

"Good, now get the others up here. These weapons ain't gonna collect themselves, are they?"

"N-no Miftriff Tanif." the man slurred and hurriedly scampered off. Corr watched him go and then looked back at Tanis.

"Uhh..."

"So, can I be done with guard duty now?" she asked.

Thanks Bash

I was hoping it'd give a good insight into the character I'm trying to build.

She will lead a squad of men she's beaten down.

So, since its been awhile I thought I'd post the Savlar story I've been writing. I made some minor edits here and there so I figured I'd just repost the whole thing for anyone interested.

Spoiler:

Promise.” Beck’s struggles weakened as his airway was constricted little by little until his world went black.

The group froze as they took in a skyway some kilometer up, that the slums had cropped up underneath, rising up the support struts towards like lichen growing up the trunk of a tree.
And… well… we look like deserters.” Nelis answered, gesturing at the state of their pilfered uniforms.
He and the Generals had all major ammunition and equipment for the PDF in the city moved there. But that bunker is older than the city and it’s virtually impenetrable.” Nelis muttered.

“There’s our man.” Nelis muttered with a nod of his head. Down the rain-washed street stood a rotund man in the livery of a Colonel, barking orders at a group of PDF troopers that looked like they desperately wanted to be anywhere but standing in the rain being screamed at. Corr’s group stood under a shop’s meager awning, watching as the colonel continued to berate the troopers.
“You know him?” Corr asked.
“Only be reputation. Name’s Colonel Davric. Bit of an ass from all the talk I’ve heard. Once had a trooper drummed up on charges for spilling recaff on him. The trooper was flogged and then incarcerated. I think he’s still in the brig.” Nelis said.
Briggs scowled.
“Let’s just shoot him and collect the key off his corpse.” She hissed.
“We can’t. He is the key. Need his DNA, his voice and a retina scan.” Nelis said, digging the toe of his boot into the mud. Corr sighed. Of course it couldn’t be easy. For the briefest of moments Corr debated pulling off his mask and breathing deeply of the world’s toxic air. That would solve his problems quick, fast and in a hurry.
“Okay. Suggestions?” he asked, looking at his haggard squad.
“One tag-along is enough.” Stakely muttered. “Though I ‘spose I could gut this one and pick up the new one.” Corr simply shook his head and Stakely’s shoulders fell. Nelis, however, seemed quite pleased with Corr’s decision.
“What if we just tell him we’re under order to get into the munitions supply?” Mason mumbled. Nelis shook his head.
“Only the Generals have that kind of authority, and we don’t have the proper paperwork to show him.”
The group fell silent again as everyone mulled over various ideas in their heads.
“Oh, to hell with it.” Briggs mumbled. Before Corr could ask, her long-las was shoved into his arms. “Hold this. Don’t let, Cally touch it.” She hissed as she peeled off her helmet and shook out her shoulder length brown hair. Corr’s eyebrows rose steadily as she jogged away from the group.
“Uhhh… what’s Briggs doin’?” Mason mumbled.
“I haven’t the slightest clue.” Callahan said.

Colonel Davric puffed out his chest, doing his best to make himself seem imposing.
“Trooper! Why are you out of uniform?!” he bellowed. The PDF trooper looked down at his uniform.
“S-sir?” he said, looking back up at the Colonel. “I-I don’t-”
“You are a disgrace to the Strontius PDF, trooper! Your uniform is a spectacular mess! Straighten your shirt and shine those boots before I have you publicly flogged!”
“B-but Colonel, sir. I’m on guard duty in the rain, sir.” Davric’s eyes widened.
“Are you arguing with a superior officer, trooper?!” he barked.
“N-no sir!” the trooper stammered.
“Do you want to be executed for disregarding orders?!”
“N-no sir!”
“Colonel Davric, sir?”
Davric rounded, ready to tear into whatever poor soul had interrupted his rant, but stopped short. Before him stood a short and shapely woman who seemed to fill out the PDF uniform rather nicely, even if she was completely doused in mud.
“Y-yes , trooper. What is it?” he said, his demeanor completely flipped from two seconds ago.
“Colonel Davric, sir. I… um…” the young woman paused. She held out a hand and gestured for the Colonel to come close with her index finger. Davric’s face turned the faintest shade of red and he cleared his throat as he moved closer to the trooper.
“Yes?” he said quietly.
“Colonel Davic, sir. I was out on patrol, and I fell into the mud and… and I can’t find my rifle. I dug around for a full hour, sir and its just g-gone. I’m s-so sorry, sir.” the girl sniffled, tears welling up in her eyes. Davric’s harsh features softened and he looked over his shoulder at the other troopers still standing at attention. After a moment he cleared his throat and returned his attention to the girl.
“Right, yes. Dry your eyes. We’ll go get you another from the depot.” He said quietly to the girl. The young woman sniffled and wiped her eyes with muddy fingers. Davric reached into his pocket and retrieved a stark white handkerchief and handed it to her. He then rounded on the spot and glared at the PDF troopers.
“Troopers! Remain on station! I will be back shortly! And if you haven’t straightened up your act by then I’ll throw the lot of you in the brig myself!” The troopers straightened and saluted the Colonel as he trudged off, the woman in tow. As they marched down the muddy street Briggs looked over to Corr and the others and waved them to follow. Corr stared in silence as the pair moved down the street.
“Uhh… what did I just see?” he asked. Stakely and Callahan shrugged, too transfixed by the scene to comment. Mason on the other hand smiled wide as he nudged Nelis.
“That right there, was grade ‘A’ actin’.” He said as he began to follow Briggs and Colonel.

Lemme know if you spot any typos, grammatical errors or anything like that. Or just lemme know if you like it and would like more.

xXWeaponPrimeXx because of that fan fiction two things happened to me last night:

1. I dreamed that cossacks were trying to invade my house but they were dressed like Vostroyan First born

2. I want to start (and have started) my own squad of Chem dogs for my Supply company of IG.

Awesome Swampy! On both accounts really.

Tell me your detachment of the Chem-Dogs and I'll mention them in a short story.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also expect a link to a P&M blog to show off your chem-dogs.

Its just a squad so far assigned to escort the Carolean 232nd Supply company. Colonel Augustus Horn is in charge of the Carolean's but the 95th Salvar is attached with them.

The squad so far has 3 members that i've named:

Ex-commissar Isidor "explosion" Aeschelman (Sent to Salvar for having his plasma gun overhead during battle and nearly killing himself thus being unable to render his duties properly. [Pending investigation]*

Private Sigmund "Butter Fingers" Grahn (ex 232nd Carolean, sent to Salvar for fragging himself during a combat mission on accident, nearly killing his squad and himself) *

Corporal Cedric "Abe"Abrams (ex cadian 123rd, sent to Salvar for stealing supplies and selling them on the black market as well as impersonating a commissar)

*This actually happened in game

Last night i was playing a mix of Kill Team and INQ28 against my brother. I was playing as a radical Inquisitor and his henchmen while my brother played as the IG sent to stop me.

Private Sigmund "Butter Fingers" Grahn saw my radical Tech priest acolyte coming towards him and threw a grenade trying to kill my priest. Long story short, the grenade roll scatter backwards and landed on top of not only Grahn but his squad as well. All lived with their armor saves amazingly but the damage was done.

Commissar Aeschelman in the same turn fired his plasma pistol across the ravine at my radical acolyte. My brother rolled a 1 for overheat and failed his armor save killing the commissar. In fluff terms his gun exploded and rendered him unconscious which was why my radical acolytes were able to seize the objectives (wounded guardsmen who knew too much) and hold on to them for the rest of the game. (I'm not a traitor i swear) >.> ...... (Just radical)

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Sorry for the dry spell, I lost my creative streak for a bit. But its back! I think.

Anyway! Here's what I've got to share with you!

How many of you remember Lt. Xero from waaaaaaaaay back on page 1? Need a refresher? Here you go.

Well, a buddy of mine, gave me a GREAT suggestion. So I took this.

Its a spare from my fledgling Tyranid army that may or may not actually make an appearance here some time. And I did this.

Then with a bit of cleaning and filing, I gave Xero the trophy he deserves.

He was quoted as saying "He took my arm, I thought it only fair to return the favor."

Here's how far I am on Tanis. IE, not very. Hidden because of awful pictures.

Spoiler:

Then I started on my League Contest 8 piece.

I started with this.

Then I decided that it wasn't quite what I was looking for in my contest piece. So I... modified it a bit.

Then I started on my lowly trooper.

Then I started on the tarp for the piece.

And then I gave it a nice bath in Antonian Camoshade.

Then, I felt it need a touch more miser- DETAIL! I MEAN DETAIL! So I took some of this....

And did a pinch of this.

Nice right? I even had a little left over to touch up another model I posted a bit back. He's collecting some water in his up turned helmet for something to drink.

Thank you all for watching. Subscribe if you enjoy my thread and would like to see more. And as always I will SEE YOU in the next update.

BYE BYE!!!!!

There is some impressive work here, but I do have three (hopefully) constructive points:

1) clean your models! There are a lot of mold lines left on, and they really ruin the paintjob you're doing. Theres even flash on a lot of the pieces where you've cut them off the sprue. Just taking that little bit more time over assembly can really help the overall look.

2) do you not undercoat your models? This would really help achieve a more even paintjob.

3) think about your poses. Referring specifically to the final photo, is that a realistic pose? To me, it looks really unnatural, which detracts from my overall enjoyment of the model as a whole.

Sorry to go in hard, but I sometimes wish people has told me this earlier in my modelling career.

Hello there torealis. Here are some answers for you.

1) I do! I swear! I file them, and do my level best to get rid of the mold lines and sprue marks, I swear!

2) No. I have no undercoat spray. And depending on the color I'm painting them I may undercoat them with some skull white (like when I do the orange uniform color).

3) I was working on making guardsmen that looked at ease/relaxed. The last trooper is collecting rain water in his helmet to drink or simply to cool himself off when he puts it back on. There's some thought behind it, I promise.

And no worries, I asked for criticism. As long as its constructive it helps make me a better modeler.

I plan to pick up some undercoat spray next week on payday.

1) I have gone back through more and it is obvious that you do now, so I apologise. Try a wee bit harder. That model with the nid on his base looks utterly nails (tough) (even in luminous uniform) but the lines on his trousers and boots kill it a little.

2) use black spray. It does make brighter colours harder, but it also covers all manner of sins. Regardless, always ALWAYS undercoat.

3) lol! Fair enough! That's utterly epic as a concept!

1) I use a small metal file I got from my dad. Would you suggest something different.

2) Will do!

3) One of his comrades looks a little off, but in the same terms, I think it will work well. But all models look a little off without paint.

I use GWs old files and a GW knife, depending on location of the line... I've not tried the new emery boards they do, but their old files were brilliantly fine.

To be honest, when you get them, you are getting rid, but you just seem to miss some. I do the same in my enthusiasm to get things painted. I've just been working on my Valhallan tonight, and I've bloody undercoated a model without finishing the green stuff on it!

I tend to work on the theory that it wont matter too much when on the table top. So I don't work to rid the model of every little line or bump. But I do rub away at the sprue marks and, if they're really bad, the mold lines. But with the way the IG clothes are, that can be really difficult. Particularly on the kneeling legs.

And I have an emery board (a real one) that came with the toe nail clippers I use to clip models (never used on anything but the models. They just cut closer than the GW clippers)

Still, looking forward to seeing more. Especially of that base, its massively badasa!

That's some wall putty (that's very dry, I had to mix it with water and stir it by hand for a bit to even get it to work.

And then it was too watery, so I had to let it set all week.

Then I just coated it with some Stirland Mud textured paint and voila.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I have some more work done on my League Contest piece.

As you may recall from the pictures above, I had some nice water effect on here created by mixing white glue and blue ink, but that dried into this.

I know, right? Completely gone.

So I tried something else that I saw somewhere here on Dakka.

I placed down a thing a thin layer of hot glue, then put some blue ink over that.

I did that twice to kinda create some layering. I hope it looks okay.

Then I started on the trooper. He was already painted, so I ran some green ink over his uniform to add some detail.

Then I painted up the base a bit more.

Next, my poor miserable guardsman needed some meager warmth. I cut a strip of fabric and dunked it in what remained of my nuln oil to give a used look. Then I just handed it to him, and he quickly wrapped himself in it.

Then I layered some white glue over that in order to get it to look wet and cling to my guardsman a little better.

Then I placed him into his little scene of misery.

At this point I also decided that the "water" on the base looked a little too dull, so I put some white glue over it that when its dry I'm hoping that it will make it a little glossy. I don't have any ardcoat or testors gloss so I work with what I got.

Then I put the tarp over his head.

And glue it to the edge of the base.

Thusly he is largely done. He just needs some final touch ups and his piece of fluff that goes with everything I create.

Thoughts? Opinions? Criticism? I'd love to hear what you think.

I present to you:

'Home Away From Home'

Spoiler:

ACHOO!

Mills sniffed loudly and wrapped his blanket tighter around himself. This planet was miserable. Always raining. Permanent cloudy skies and a terrible wetness that permeated everything. Mills sighed and looked up and down the line. Everyone looked just as miserable as him. Huddled in groups shivering or moving about, trying to get the blood pumping.

He missed his home. A sunny Agri-world where the work was hard but the feeling of accomplishment was high. Here, on this drowning ball of mud... harder work for no accomplishment.

The fighting had ground to a stand still in the last day as the rain picked up. Aside from the occasional mortar, the rebels seemed to be as beaten by the weather as he was and everything slowed down. The worst was when the sun set and the chill set in. At least one person in his platoon froze to death in the night. He grew weary of sitting or kneeling and chose to lay down, never to rise again.

Mills leaned forward and peered up, looking around his makeshift tarp that had been cut from the charred remnants of a tent. The clouds seemed dark and angry. He sighed and sat back again. His mind dwelled on his home. Large fields of grain, gently swaying in the breeze, the sun on his face. He sighed and opened his eyes again and was greeted by the same dreary everything. Then, as he watched, the clouds parted briefly and the sun peered down through the clouds before being engulfed again. Mills smirked.

"There are worse places..." he muttered as he lowered his helmet and shut his eyes. At least here, in his little home away from home, he could get some well needed rest.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Look at that! Not only are there 2 updates in one day!!!

But I also hit double digits in my pages! That's awesome!

But I couldn't do that without my followers. So thank you all, so much for the support.

Now lets get to the minis!

As promised, I got some spray primer.

And with it I primed up my ADL for detail and vandalizing. Cuz... let's face it, the Chem-Dogs will tag that with reckless abandon.

But for now it looks downright pretty.

Now! How many of you remember this guy from page 2?

Well, my buddy Boggs got himself a night little smattering of paint last evening.

And lookit that, he's still wearing the awful orange he was assigned.

Poor guy. That was the rule he chose to follow?

I also made some progress on Tanis!

Look at that! She's almost presentable!

Still having some issues with lubricant making the painting a bit difficulty. And this is after scrubbing with a toothbrush, warm water, and dish soap for fifteen minutes.

That's all I've got for you guys. As always, thoughts, comments and criticism are welcome.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

Look kids! I have an ADL with some paint on it!

So the first thing I did is look at the model. I thought ADLs were metal, but they actually resemble belted stone. So with that in mind I painted them all up like this.

Including the long pieces.

I also decided that I wanted the framing metal to be copper in color.

And I painted the Aquila gold.

And then washed it in Reikland Fleshshade.

Then I washed all the stone parts in Nuln Oil.

Then I turned it around and picked out some of the other metal details in Leadbelcher.

Then I turned my sights towards Tanis and repainted her sword black.

Then I cut some tape like so.

And wrapped it like so.-

So I could paint a little bit of yellow on it like this for all those Necromunda lovers out there.

Then, I.... may or may not have take this bad boy....

And primed it.

And then I finally finished basing all the things I've completed thus far.

Nice right?

That's all I've got for you guys. As always, thoughts, comments and criticism are welcome.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I started to work on the tank, but then I stopped and thought, I should really wait until I can magnetize it. So... I need one of my beautiful followers to point out a good tutorial on magnetizing a leman russ.

But while I look that up, I decided that I should at least make the tank driver.

Allow me to introduce you all to Bash.

I'm debating cutting off his left hand and turning it around to make it look like some obscene gesture. Thoughts?

Then, I worked on Boggs some more.

I painted his arms and touched up on his helmet and backpack.

Then, I peeled the tape off of Tanis's chainsword. I think it came out real well.

And, I sprayed my brand new squad of females that will be lead by Tanis' sister Kneives (she has not been started yet). They will be played by a squad of Escher Gangers that the wonderful Mecha sent me.

Also in that picture are some extra trappings for the tank to give it that lived in feel.

Hey there Cam!

Thank you very much for taking the time to look through my blog.

I'm a firm believer in narrative story telling and the competition pieces have to have that since I don't have many things to work with or a whole lot of skill with modelling.

As for more, well, I'm working on it. I only model one night a week, on sundays, so I should have some more stuff to post tonight.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

So, I started trying to magnetize myself a Leman Russ.

I ordered some magnets which came in last week in good time.

And then I scoped out where I wanted to put the magnets.

And glued two into place on each side. (two for extra holding power.

\

Then I took the autocannon turret (the turret I'm least likely to use) and attempted to follow the magnetizing tutorial I found here on Dakka.

I snipped off the pegs.

And then filled the gap with green stuff.

My greenstuff is old and took forever to knead back into a pliable form.

But after drilling the holes I couldn't get the magnets to fit (I don't have a proper sized drill bit, so I attempted to use a screw. That didn't work. So I filled everything in with green stuff and I'll try getting a proper bit this week.

With that being totally botched, I resigned myself to put the treads on the tanks.

And Bash says to hurry up.

That's all I've got for you guys. As always, thoughts, comments and criticism are welcome.

Depends if you have a spare or not.

If I was doing it and had a spare I'd cut flip but also cut down between the 2 fingers and try to space apart. Knowing my luck this would either
A- not work
B - result in my cutting through the entire hand
C - as above but through my hand as well

If it didn't work I could just use the flipped spare

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

So I decided to take a break from my leman russ until such time as I have a proper size drill bit to magnetize it.

So I decided to paint up some of my Escher gangers.

I introduce to you, my Daggers.

The Daggers are Tanis's Sister's group comprised exclusively of ladies from their home of Necromunda who managed to get themselves arrested and sent to Savlar.

I didnt do much painting aside from their hair and some of their skin.

But I did take some of this here cork.

And cut it up to fill the gaps in the slotta bases and apply some detail that will become rock later.

Hello Everybody, my name is xXWeaponPrimeXx and welcome back to my P&M Blog!

I got the correct size drill bit!

And with the green stuff crammed in the autocannon turret nice and cured I was able to drill a nice hole clear through it. Which I then stuff a couple of magnets in.

And it works! Quite well. Its not loose or off kilter as far as I can tell.

With that done, I began drilling out all the sponson guns.

Then I rolled up some green stuff.

And crammed it all up in the back of each sponson while make sure it didn't interfere with the rotation.

Then I drilled a small portion out of the back of each gun. And happily glued a magnet into place in each one.

So then, after spraying the tank driver. I looked at the hand.

There had been some discussion hear about cutting it and flipping it around to be insulting. But the wrist position is all off. So all that ended up happening was me separating the fingers a bit.

Oh yeah, I totally finished the chassis as well.
