Many of us have a host of unpainted, even unbuilt, miniatures sitting on our desks or tucked away out of sight. Many of us haven't heard the clack of dice or the thwip of a tape measure for months. Together let's get motivated to dust off those dice and moisten our brushes! It's easy to get involved: Just post a message stating what you pledge to do and when you aim to do it by, then, when you complete your pledge, just post another message telling us how it went. If you can provide pictures at the beginning and/or the end then please do although this is not a requirement. I also encourage you to create a P&M Blog to showcase your work and announce your updates here.

All right... As I've been in the middle of painting my PanO Spec-Ops for a couple weeks now... It's the perfect timing to kick myself and finish it !
I've also started and basecoated a Shasvastii seed soldier and so I'll try to finish him before the end of the week =)
Next time, Ì'll post the picture of the model I'll paint before doing anything on it.

My first pledge.
Paint and base the models I have for my Qapu Khalqi sectorial force. So far this is Nomads Alguaciles (3), a mobile brigada HI (HMG) and 4 Druze Militia. Still to come, the Haqq contingent and an "Iguana" TAG stand in.
Alguaciles done. Mobile brigada done. Druze in progress.
I don't paint for GD level standards - so my TT standard will do me fine. They are a step up from dipped, though and do usually contain the "minimum 3 colours" that were the de facto GW tourney standard.

I couldn't quite believe you were the guy pushing me to put this thread up. Turning over a new leaf?
Glad to see some more pledging too.
@bantha - Biggest pledge so far if you reach the stretch goal! Good on you, I'll add it to the OP.
@plastictrees - Haha, well congratulations and if you decide to jump on board at any point for a quick jaunt then feel free.
@Nerm - Since this is weekly, shall I put you in to get one built by the reset? I'll put you in as that for now and just tell me if you want me to change it.

I'll bite. Have my FRRM done by the end of May.
That's 5 Métros, 3 Chasseurs, a Mirage-5 team, 3 random chicks for Zouaves or Briscards.
Normally I'd have it all done by end of April, but with the studies, painting has been an issue.

An update or sorts and an excuse a reason for delays.
I managed to scratch my eyeball on my good eye (left one) and the treatment makes my vision blur and the depth perception is very much reduced so no painting or modelling for me for at least the next two weeks.
How am I typing this? I'm dictating this to my computer as I can't properly focus on the keyboard.

I don't think it needs to be weekly =)
As long as people get on board and reach their goals ( or not ), it's fine.
As long as it motivates people to actually paint some minis =)

Post by: Mathieu Raymond
My motivation is twofold:
I hate playing with unpainted minis.
I like having more minis painted than Von Skyfury.

I'm making a pledge but it's a fortnight one, thesis intro due thursday so I'm unsure if I'll find time before then. Finish Highland Grey with HMG, Wulver with T2 Rifle and SAS CRAP edit: update, changed to SAS CRAP and finished him and the HMG Grey

Second opinion and referral to specialist tells me that first TWO doctors were crap and shall not be returned to. Specialist has changed the treatment and vision should return to normal within a few weeks.
Thanks for the thoughts, anyway. I've still managed to assemble some models. It just took longer than normal.

Post by: Casey's Law
That's rough chromedog, hope you heal up promptly!
I agree about not making it weekly actually. The idea was to keep the updates easy and that small deadlines are easier to focus on. Looking at it now, it's easy enough for me to do non weekly pledges too and that'll work better for some people. I'll update the OP next. Basically I'll continue to reset/update every Monday so as long as your in for any Sunday I'll catch it on time.
Update for my pledge.
Got BlueDagger's trade underway. The pose is finished and I'm just getting it pinned together now, very happy with it. Sadly that's it so far as I've been really ill all week. Still planning to hit my target though.

I'm going to change my pledge from the shotgun SAS to the SAS with CRAP if that's alright, I love the model and my store happened to have it (they never have ariadna blisters, so that was a stroke of luck) and I painted him up as soon as I got home.
I also finished the Grey with HMG, and the Wulver is nearing completion. Pics will follow in the next day or two.
Funnily enough, not much uni work got done.

Vision improving and base coating of some models done.
Vision not good enough for finer details at this point, but can at least focus on screen if I squint a little (better than 4 days ago, at least, when squint or no, blur was all there was).

Post by: Von Skyfury
I don't expect to have as much free time next week so let's go with a very easy one =P
My fiday has no base yet so I'll work on it.
And if possible, I'll try to slap a little more paint on an Hac Tao.
So here's my Crimson Spec Ops for my PanO Military Order :
And then, here's the first seed soldier. As I wanted him done today, I rushed him a bit.
Now that I'm happy with the paint scheme I chose, the next one will get a little more attention =)
I'll eventually take better pictures I guess

So only Skyfury hit there target so far. I'm sorry to say I can't make that two either. Being ill ate up my week and when I finally started greenstuffing Blue's trade I realised it needed much more extensive and more detailed work than I anticipated.
@chromedog, glad you're getting a bit of vision back mate. Don't strain the old eyes to much though!
@motyak, yeh no worries. Sounds like things are progressing well, well... apart from uni work.
@CDK, awesome! How was it?
I'm going to add to my current pledge for next week to make up for it. So same again for me but two models for my blog.

I'm really considering putting visors on all my models I'm that bad at painting eyes. The pictures aren't really flattering...quite horrific actually. So far I've just been working on putting models together. I figure at least I can play with them if they are together instead of on a box or blister on the shelf. I've put together three Auxbots, workign on boxed set of Wu Ming. The HMG is completely done. Working on pinning an arm for the Noctifer. Want to make sure I don't go completely through his arm like I did on the other arm :( I've almost have Lu Duan done too. I've still got Hac Tao with HMG. My daughters Riot Grrl with spitfire, and a few others I can't remember.

Post by: Casey's Law
Sorry about the delay folks! I ran out of data just before I got round to the update but my reset was today so I was only out by a day.
Another nice job VS! Your a powerhouse of production! I got my remotes assembled as intended but my CA has gone a little tacky so I might have to redo them. :faceplam: That'll teach me to clean the glue tube before I put the cap on!
MR, I'm not sure I'm understanding buddy... Oh! I think I get you now! That's a really good question and the answer may be different person to person. I guess that getting a few from the same group done will motivate you to finish the rest but swapping up the paint scheme is more refreshing. Maybe meeting half way is best? Swapping between two forces and after each miniature. I'd be interested to know what works well for others.
I'll put in an update now, not sure what I'm going to pledge yet though...
! I'll finish converting my Szally who I decided needed a new face and ankles. The operation had so far been messy and my tacky CA isn't helping.

My daughter has a Riot Grrl and a Spekter to paint. My son, I'll have to find something for him. I have a bunch of very old minis that can be used. He can be picky though. He only wants to paint boys. It's about time I strip the ones they have already painted so they can paint them again.
43045
Post by: Casey's Law
Nice one, is that the female Spektr and the original Riot Grrl per chance? 'Cause they're both on my workbench too. The Riot Grrl is a nice drybrushing candidate but the Spektr is a particularly difficult model to paint in my opinion. I'm a little worried about putting down any more paint to be honest but I'm going to have to make a push to get Blue's trade ready.

So, vision returning to normal - scarring on cornea has healed (it's a pretty resilient piece of work). Got distracted by my club's annual 40k tourney (I was running it) so got no more work done for another two weeks. WIP for the QK. Kaplan Tech Services merc, Nomad Mobile Brigada (modified head - because I didn't like the original fish head), some Haqqi - 2 hafza and a Djanbazan and some alguaciles (old ones). Excuse the quality of the pics. Phone camera - actual DSLR has flat batteries - they are recharging. (Note: This is how my vision was about a week after getting treatment. ) Basing needs finishing and some touch up work done. Waiting for some Ghulams to come back into stock and also need to get some yellow paint for the druze.

Ive got two weeks to paint and base two models and then varnish them all. My only worry is that the weather has been really bad here which may make it hard to use the spray varnish... fingers crossed

Don't know what I could pledge.
Most of my stuff is already done - and except for the QK, which is waiting on stock - pretty much done. I've got Penny for Aleph to assemble and paint. Not to actually game with, though. She's just for the model. Hot biker chick.
I'd love to pledge to have the QK done by say End of June or something, but knowing my luck, they won't get to me until June 29
The Lizard being modified into the Iguana will take me a few weeks. Pieces have to be sculpted for it.

You'll see that I changed the OP to be more relaxed now so feel free to pledge anything. Even multiple pledges if you'd like. If you don't make the pledge on time then you don't get a +1 buy there is no negative record of it. It's just good motivation to have a target.
Do tell us more about the Iguana, I'm reworking the Lizard right now and also doing work on my Szally. I'd be interested to see what your ideas are and seeing your progress.

My pledge: get the greenstuff and temporary painting base done on my Dragôes TAG.
Good lord that thing would probably have been a worse build than the remotes (legs just don't even come close to fitting the pre-cast blocks...) so I figured, hey, might as well repose it a bit. It's an awesome mini but it suffers from a moderately boring pose with a Doomsday OverkillCannon of Excessiveness +5 mounted on the shoulder in the weirdest possible way so I figured I'd do something about that - couldn't quite find any really similar conversions (as far as hands/weapon go) to see if it was viable before cutting the damn thing up so it was a bit scary, but I'm quite happy with this WiP: now just to GS a few bits 'n bobbins back on (both elbows need significant filling and detailing, need to resculpt the fingertips and thumb, and something has to fill up the void where the HMC used to fit on to his right shoulder...)

He doesn't show it in the crappy phonepics much yet but it really does look quite natural, so I want to make the whole thing "work" and really put a good bit of work into the GSing, which means that, due to a bunch of exams coming up soon, I'll be pledging to have this done by june the 14th at the latest, with an eye on perhaps getting it done next week already.

I'm still waiting for a zinge industries envelope with a flexible ammo belt in it - they're actually much nicer than what's supplied with the dragoês model and way easier to model into more complex bends (which I kind of need here).
Not **technically** finished, but since it's going to take me all of five minutes to put that belt on once it actually gets here I'm calling it done
Never mind the base, that's a temporary one for priming and painting - the scenic base he'll be mounted on will be painted separately.

Great conversion and a nice early finish! Great job all round! I'll update the OP.
I'm struggling to find a material which I can bend into a thin strip and which will hold up a TAG. It's going to have to be metal but I can't seem to find anything to do the job. Any ideas are welcome.
31456
Post by: Bolognesus
How thin and what kind of bend? holding up a TAG on any kind of thin strip is going to be problematic.
Realistically speaking the strongest stuff you're going to get at a normal price which is sufficiently malleable is plain ol' steel, AFAIK.
You have me intrigued by the idea, now
43045
Post by: Casey's Law
I'm not certain of thickness right now but a couple of millimetres probably. As for the bend, I need to be able to alter the shape quite a lot but that shouldn't be a problem with metal at that thickness. I'm looking for something around the house to plunder right now. Everything seems too thin or too thick but I'll find something.
31456
Post by: Bolognesus
"couple of millimetres" would mean 3mm steel, 8mm wide? that should hold without flexing in the least. have fun bending 2mm+ steel sheet, though. Not an issue if you have some tools; if you don't, however... it can be an interesting experience again, feasibility mostly depends on what you want precisely but TBH a "couple of millimetres" of some kind of metal does not qualify as a "thin" strip, at 1/56 scale modelling
43045
Post by: Casey's Law
Haha true. To be more exact I need 1-2mm thick strip with a width of maybe 5-7.5mm and a length of about 40-50mm. Kind of like a wide paperclip. I have the tools to deal with those sizes as long as I don't have to cut anything too carefully. I'm sure there will be something around that'll do the job. I need two pieces which is problematic...

Well I tried to paint the other day but my son and daughter whined to paint themselves. So my daughter got to paint her Riot Grrl and my son did a figure I got him for his birthday from Reaper. Some guy with a big gun.

Post by: Bolognesus
2x7.5x50 should hold a TAG in any shape pretty well, I'd say. I could scrounge up some plate metal from my backyard (students' housing... don't ask) some time next week and try?

Post by: Casey's Law
Haha, you've taught them well then Brian!
Bolognesus, it's awesome that you'd be willing to do that man, thanks! Don't worry about it though mate, I pledged to get my Lizard done by the 10th so I'm hoping to get it done asap. So far I'm thinking that I might have to rip the casing off of an old appliance or something. My PC is pretty much dead so maybe it doesn't need all of it's casing...
31456
Post by: Bolognesus
most of a PC case would be a bit too thin (generally somewhere between 0.8 and 1.2mm depending on build quality) but the internal frame might well qualify
...perhaps this whole thing doesn't really belong in the pledging thread...
43045
Post by: Casey's Law
Haha yeh slightly off topic now. Steering us back towards the road: I'm making progress on my Lizard but the process of design is complex(I've collected more reference images for this than everything else put together) so I might push it back a week. I found a large enough washer to cut into two strips but it's taking forever with the tools I have, I am now considering using a paperclip for strength and covering it in plasticard and greenstuff for shape. No further updates from me until I finish it and post to my blog.

The two lists I painted up for a local tournament. They worked very well as I won all my games!

That's going to confuse some people, Nerm ...
In an ITS tournament, if you are permitted to run two lists, they BOTH have to be from the same faction (and sectorials count as separate factions - so with Ariadna, it's either two vanilla, two highlander or two mrrf lists, not mix-and-match).
If, however, it's NOT an ITS event (as I believe this wasn't), and it's just a tournament event to get the local crowd encouraged to play the game, then all is fine and good with the world.
Your stuff's coming along well.

OK, eye is healing slowly, so I've not been doing a lot of work on my infinity stuff. My Iguana TAG for my QK force. It's painted in the same scheme as my QK nomad alguaciles. There's a reason. They are the stooges to my Iggy. It started out as a Lizard TAG, but I rotated the torso 90* forward (so what was the face now pointed down) and bored out the hips to make a socket to fit it better. Those "shoulder" boxes used to be on the back, and lower. GS'd up the master arm sockets. Fitted some bits I had spare and went at it. I figured that since the Iggy spits out a HI figure with hmg when it goes down, I'd add armoured front bits to represent the operator. The HI carries the HMG, the TAG carries the HFT. The 'head' came from a spare tail bit (the Forward observer bit) from an aleph rebot. Scuse the crappy pictures. Eye doesn't focus quite properly yet so lining up focus is tricky.

Post by: Nerm86
I like the master arms holding the HMG, remind me very much of Appleseed. Good job!
3802
Post by: chromedog
That's what I was going for. The nomad part of my QK are supposed to be the SAR group (hence the high-vis orange and white). In reality, it's the Haqq part that usually pull their nuts out of the fire. As to the master arms carrying the hmg ... I wondered how the operator would detach the TAG weapon to use on foot (no hyperspace pockets in this man's anime, thankyouverymuch) and it was just simpler to have him ALREADY carrying it. This way I can just sub out the mobile brigada HMG when he does cark it.

Looks like great conversion! And it'll fit right in with infinity models. While I'm not too keen on the look of nomads as a whole, I kinda like that TAG.

Druze in progress.
Two days later, I had very little vison in one eye due to a corneal abrasion (I scratched my cornea) and it has been a recurring issue for the last few months. I've finally got it under control in the last week. The last specialist put a corneal bandage over the scarring and put me on stronger anti-bio. The bandage is transparent and allowed me to actually see with both eyes whilst the damage was healed. It was part of my QK pledge. The alguaciles (stooges) were done as well, so were the Haqq contingent of 2 hafzas, djanbazan, Druze and a KTS merc (stooges, hafza/djan and KTS are done on p2 or so) Late, but still done. In terms of painting/modelling, it only took me a week or so to do them all up. It's just that it averaged out to one day or so a week. Just waiting on my Ghulams. I need 6 of them to finish off my QK. They keep being out of stock and I need 5 and a doc. Probably going to get a blister, the support pack and see if I can do swapsies on the remainder.

With the repeated eye issues and other family related issues, It slipped my mind.
The injury made it impossible to read (how I relax), paint or assemble models. When I did get sight back, I had other things occupying me, then it relapsed. Seriously, LOOK after your eyes, kiddies. These injuries SUCK bigtime. I even tried listening to audiobooks - but the narration mostly never matched how I thought they would sound - and gave up. I really do prefer reading this stuff myself.
I've had TWO weeks in the last two or so months where my sight was good enough to do anything. The first one was late May, when I had to run a tournament.
Now that it's good, I aim to keep it that way. Even if it takes these drops for the rest of my life.

Right, i have painted all the models and all the bases including facing marks but I wont be able to varnish them as the weather is too cold at the moment :( Ill consider them finished for now.
My next very short term pledge is to get my force painted for a campaign game on wednesday night (10th.. ie tomorrow) I need to finish 1 Irmandinho and a Tankhunter HMG. Last night I painted Valerya Gromoz and my Warcor, luckily I've been painting so much over the last week that most of the models I reguired were already finished.
In the last 6 days I've painted:
Janissary
3rd Highlander Grey
Veteran Kazak
2 Rifle Line Kazaks
Sniper Rifle Line Kazak (Conversion)
Boarding Shotgun Foxtrot (Conversion)
Tankhunter Sniper (Conversion)
Para-Commando HMG
Metro HMG
Valerya Gromoz
Warcor (Salamanda Pilot)
I know its probably not the right place but I'm so damn proud of my efforts I had to post it somewhere.

You know what, sign me up for a pledge. I have a 200pt starter army that needs finishing. Currently, I have 4 models left to paint. A Hassassin Muyib, a Hassassin Fiday, a Ghulam with rifle and a Nasmat. I want these done, and right now my only other project is gradually getting bits of my Tervigon done.
I'll be ambitions and say it'll be done in a month - ambitious because I'm a notoriously slow painter, and I might be moving to temporary accomodations soon until my new house is built (though I can hopefully still paint there, it might put about a weeks hold on my progress).
So, by 9 June. That's a week per model. Like I said, for me, ambitious. But I need this starter list hammered out so I can start on the models I have to expand it.

Loki, by bath, do you mean dip or wash? If it's dip, is it army painter and how do you find it working with infinity miniatures? I've only ever dipped a handful of miniatures, about 5 plastic, and 3 or 4 metal. I love the effect dipping can give but I've found with the metal ones, there is what looks like very, very subtle cracking of the varnish. Have you ever found this? One thought I had was that it might be due to metal miniatures ever so slightly expanding and retracting in different temperatures. It's the only reason I could think of as to why it would affect metal and not plastic miniatures. And it's put me off dipping metal minis in the future. Another very possible reason is that I've done something wrong. Any thoughts?
Sorry for going a bit off topic. With regards to pledging, I've got ten remaining haqq waiting, primed and ready to go. I'd like to get them done this year.... I am that slow, and I have boring space marines on the go also.

To be fair, I did consider dipping along the way. I'm a lazy, slow painter. I just couldn't bring myself to do it to Infinity models.
Progress was made even further on the Muyib last night - all colours are blocked in and touched up. It'll be getting its bath tonight, and hopefully even real work started on it.

Don't discount the rifles.
I used 9 rifles to great effect against a friend's TAG in ARO once (he shot at my APHMG model) because he wanted it dead.

HMG died, but his sacrifice inspired his brothers to greater acts.

Short answer: because i can
Long answer: because i like to field themed armies, whether it it a kazak swarm or a more elite force. Variety adds freshness to the game. I would get bored without the choices that having so many models gives me.
I didnt actually go out and buy three packs on line kazaks. I bought the original 4 to use for Inquisitor 28mm back in 2007-2008 and the newer ones i got mostly when people were selling on a whole bunch of stuff and they were just included.
If you take issue with 9 rifle kazaks then I probably shouldnt mention my 8 Tankhunters

Heh, fair 'nuff. It is bulkier than much of the EI stuff is, that's true. However, have you ever played around with one a bit? It's really more elegant in the flesh than I'd have thought. The gun arm is the only really bulky bit (If I'd gotten my drones before priming the Charontid I probably would have replaced a significant amount of that arm with a drone weapon!)

You probably would. aside from the fething huge gun arm it's really almost elegant.
And that's my palbots, complete with the doc they'll be serving. Just heard SW wave two will be shipping in a few weeks so the (cheesecakey beyond my usual limits but hey, free and quite characterful!) engineer model is en route too.

Hopefully tonight I can get the green finished off and the fatigues started. Hey all!
As Casey suggested to me when I visited his blog, I am here for some help with getting my butt in gear. I have a bunch of Infinity product here that I would like to one day see converted from 'still in packaging' to fully completed, maybe even including paint!
I guess to get started, the first thing I am going to do is get a P&M blog up of my own, so in case I ever finish anything I'll have someplace to document it.
I'm not sure if 'make a plog' counts as a pledge, but I'm aiming to have it finished within 24hrs anyways.

Don't get too excited. Last time I made a pledge on the Infinity boards and all I ended up completing was my Al Hawwa.
I tend to burn out on Infinity figs after one model due to the level of detail. But my main motivation right now is my friend and I are actually playing Infinity next time we do some gaming rather than 40k, and I want to have a fully painted force.

Just made a quick list (no clue if it is good or not), but in any case, I will need to finish assembling at least 4 Morlocks, 4 Uberfall Kommandos, and the 2 Sin-Eaters. So that is my Pledge, 10 models moved from Stage 2 to Stage 3 in my blog by Monday.

I didn't get as much done this weekend as I'd have liked, mostly because I spend Saturday running around doing stuff for my home loan, and spent most of today playing Guild Wars 2 (she's a harsh mistress).
I did, however, get all of the green on my Muyib layered, and I'll do the highlighting tonight and hopefully get started on the fatigues.

Really nice. The bases look great too. What do you use for the grass tufts? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, a quick spray of matt varnish would do wonders here. Particularly for the highlanders. All looks good though.

Post by: Nerm86
Yeah, I am planning to use matt varnish but the weather here is way too cold for spraying. I'm basically getting everything to that stage then once the weather gets warmer they will be truly finished.
The tufts are the 6mm tufts form army painter? I'm waiting for varnish before I add the tufts

Must be this thread, because I haven't been this motivated on a fig in ages. Muyibs armour and fatigues finished, working on the visor (yellow is such a bitch).
After the visor, it's mostly touching up, and a little bit of work on the gun, then basing.

Yeah, I gave up and went blue.

I'm used to repeated layering (thanks Tyranids). So I'll just stick to it. I like the look with a yellow visor.

Ahem. Yes, I'm quite sick of yellow right now myself.

Just helmet visors. I already did one Muyib like that already and I liked the end result, so I'll stick with it.

My pledge is to paint my Intruder, Hellcats, or the female Wildcat since the male Wildcat is annoying the heck out of me.
The Hellcat with Boarding Shotgun is getting some love today though.

Spent more time last night meeting with people about my house, but I got some painting done. Another layer on the Muyibs visor done, all touch ups done, started on the rock he's got his foot on. Only just noticed there's a lizard on that rock. Tonight hopefully I can finish it off. Metallics on the gun, highlight the visor, finish the rock, paint the lizard (I'm thinking purple/pink for some variety).

Hey Casey, hate to do this but ummm, well I sorta got a little over ambitious and forgot that in order to paint my models 1 -2 a day and take pictures of them. That I must first actually have the models in my possession. My big-o-box from CB won't be here till maybe Friday or Saturday so I'm forced to postpone my pledge. D:

Finished all this in time for my first game this evening. Although I only played one game and ended up using only a single model from the 10 I pledged to complete. And that was as a proxy for an HMG version
I was very pleased with the way the Morlocks turned out, but the Uberfallen were very frustrating to say the least. I actually still do not have the tails on the pupniks, going to have to buy some smaller drill bits first methinks.
But still, happy to get some models built and very proud to finally lose my Infinity virginity! Resulting in a win no less!

Started a public blog rather than my one in the DCM forum which was sporadically updated.
Got some more work done on the Hellcat but being stumped a bit on the armor.
My goal right now?
Have the Boarding Shotgun Hellcat finished within two weeks--dependent upon whether or not my bases have arrived by then.
And get it looking nice.

@Victor - No worries on changing pledges, what date do you want me to change it to?

Proof!
Better shot of the Hawwa Sniper, and also the finished Muyib. The highlights are paler on the Muyib because I'm trying something new - highlighting with P3 Thrall Flesh for a more washed out look rather than mixing Jack Bone into Camo Green, which came out inconsistent at best.

Reporting a failed pledge here - partly because repairing the damage from the dragoe tipping over from a display shelf onto a wooden floor took some time (pretty much AOK now, except for one thing which is probably an improvement ^^ and some paint chipping which is still to be fixed) but mostly due to getting an airbrush working and since I'll probably be dicking around with that for a couple of weeks, I can't really pledge much I'm sure I'll be able to do. I'll get my Swiss Guard (only primed now) to "mostly done" status within a week (using airbrush), my armoured cavalry to "ready for detailing" or thereabouts in that same timeframe and get my dragoe looking at least ready enough for the tabletop in that week as well but none of them done, really. just waaay to attractive to play around for me atm
(I should probably start a P&M blog for this, I suppose. that would be an awful lot of random ranting, though - even for me )

A bit of a ballsy move for me considering I've got an animation to do on top of other comission orders, but heres my pledge:
By the 23rd August, I hereby pledge to complete my nurgle zombie army. By complete I mean everything sculpted, painted (to a decent tt standard) and based to match my 'Greenstrider' Jungle fighting Tau Cadre.
Very tall order indeed, but probably the only way to get me motivated to finish them off!
List of stuff to do:
Complete 60 Zombie/infected Sculpts (approx)
Complete Pestilence, Dragon Lord of Nurgle (Count as Heldrake)
Complete Flying base for Blight Drone.
I'll try and get pics up as I go, feel free to harass me via PMs if I don't seem to be updating enough

My pledge got pushed back due to various family crises.
Both involving cancer (terminal in one case).
I'm still modelling and painting, but I'm also still waiting on those ghulams (who'd'a thunk that they'd be so hard to find?).
I'm also going to be in Melbourne for a week, which pushes it back again.

Post by: Kanluwen
My pledge got pushed back not because of crises(I hope everything is at least calm and not hectic for you Chromedog), but because of the distraction of my bases for the Nomads arriving and a massive trade from Alfndrate for a Cygnar army going through.
Plus the Kamael cloth/armor ratio puzzles the hell out of me and I cannot get it just right to save my life.

Right now I have... a multitude of problems that keep me from staring at details without feeling like my head will explode. Once it's gone, I'll take my pledge off hold. At the every leasy I should be able to catch up with building the last few models I've bought.

I tried to motivate myself by getting all of my stuff out as well as what's painted to see my whole collection at once, since I've never done it before. It had the opposite effect. When I finish my 200pt army, I've got 18 more models to paint. It's all built bar the Maghariba Guard and Go Go Marlene. Add to that a Sasvastii Noctifier with Spitfire and Speculo Killer. I'm thinking of just giving those to a friend who is sort of interested, telling him to grab a pack of Seed Soldiers and a Gwailos, and come to me for some intro games.

Since Arenanet have decided to be stupid and kill my attempt to go for a legendary weapon, Guild Wars 2 is off my regular nightly gaming schedule. So I'll be painting more.
I've actually made progress on the Nasmat, but eed to find the money to grab a new can of grey primer, since I'm out and my Odalisque is bare (but then that seems to be how they're meant to be).
I'm also contemplating buying some resin urban bases and rebasing my stuff, but that won't be part of the pledge. I like the desert bases I've been doing, but urban seems to fit Infinity better. I'll just have to figure out a solution for things like the Fiday and Muyib standing on natural looking rocks.

A lot of OS people don't realise how big Australia is.
From west to east coast it's roughly the same size as the US. Perth to Sydney is 2510miles.
By comparison - LA to New York is 2781 miles.
Our eastern state capitols tend to be around 1000km apart (Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne).
Most of our population lives on the eastern side, and east coast in particular. The middle is mostly arid desert suitable only for camels (of which we have the most, and apparently the 'purest' breed.)
In the UK, what is it? "You're never more than 110 miles from the sea" ?
Nerm and I live about 5 hours' drive apart. Our highway speed is 110km/h - 68mph.
I'm two hours or so from Sydney (and it takes about an hour to cross it).

Yep, crazy stuff. I think most people in the UK have a good idea of the vastness but I couldn't speak for other populaces. I'm sure the majority of the western world has a pretty solid understanding.

It's great isn't it! Yes think the Druze pic and one other is going to get framed and put up in my games room. That book is a great motivator, and the bits at the start of each faction explaining the design choices is really cool.

I travelled through Aus when I was a teenager, before going to University (this was before it started getting fashionable, and everyone in Europe started doing it!) - my travel schedule went out the window once I travelled on an all-night bus for 8 hours but then realised I had moved about 1cm on the map
The scale of the country is immense - great memories of the people and the place though, would love to go back some day (and perhaps travel by internal flights this time )

So I guess now that I have my Nomad Corregidor Jurisdictional Command, I am going to endeavor to have them fully assembled and painted in a 2 month window (giving myself lots of room)
Should have them assembled and primed this weekend so I will have pictures starting soon.

Just post a date, the number of miniatures and what you're doing to them. Simple. Feel free to go into more detail as long as I can see a date, a number and 'paint', 'convert', 'basecoat' or something. That's just so i can add it to the OP easily.
When it comes to completion don't worry, I'm not the Pledge Nazi or anything. I like to keep this thread relaxed so it doesn't become a chore for pledgers. In that vein I also allow a quantity of self regulation, I'm not going to deny you a +1 because you told me one or two days late for instance. What may happen is that I'll remove the pledge and call it -1 after a few days past deadline but even then it wouldn't be hard to convince me to go back and fix it.
The important thing is to enjoy it. Automatically Appended Next Post: NuclearMessiah wrote:So I guess now that I have my Nomad Corregidor Jurisdictional Command, I am going to endeavor to have them fully assembled and painted in a 2 month window (giving myself lots of room)

Woops, ninja'd. I'll add you to the OP, good luck! Fellow Nomads are more than welcome. Forget everything they have taught you.

Technically approaching a pledge fail - 10 days left and I haven't started my Barid or Odalisque ( even ran out of spray primer when I got to the Odalisque, so that really has issues happening), so yeah, that's probably not going to be a success.
I did, however, get a second model done in a row - something I've never done with infinity. Nasmat done!

You can do it mate! Do what you can for now and maybe you'll see a way around the rest. Brush on basecoat maybe. Fire up dome WIP pics here on in your blog every day or two to keep yourself going.

Going to have to change my pledge. I need to paint 5 Loup Garou a Spec Ops and 3 Zouaves by 4 October. If I get that done then I will go back to my previous pledge.

Hah, your productivity is amazing.
"Hey guys, I need to change my pledge... To a bigger pledge!"
I've made the update. The big question today though is, has Loki pulled it off?

So..... I didn't pledge initially, but I've painted up the following this past week:
2 Hellcats
1 Szalamandra Squadron
1 Intruder
1 Moderator from Bakunin w/ Sniper Rifle
1 Tomcat Engineer
1 Tomcat w/ Rocket Launcher
2 Wildcats (1 Combi, 1 Spitfire)
1 Alguacil Hacker
Over the next 7 days I'm hoping to finish:
1 Zero
3 Sin Eater Observants
2 Wilcats w/ Combi Rifle
2 Female Moderators from Bakunin.
We shall see how it goes.

Probably not going to get mine done, between starting them and hating how they are coming out, one of my models got the infamous primer dusting and I am struggling to clean the model up (lots of tiny detail for paint to hide) In addition I am back to working on my Tohaa and creating clear acrylic plexiglass bases for them.

I'm going to make a long game pledge, which while it may be silly to do it for 1 model, its because I'm working on my thesis for the next 2 weeks before its due, and doing this in my breaks. Anyway, my pledge is upgrading Shotgun Bob to his much prettier version, and getting it all painted.

Noice.
Source on shotgun bob (new version?)
Is it one of the hasslefree ones?

Yeah, its the Hasslefree modern troopers Remington model, and one of their heads & backpacks.
And they include lollies with their models.

Haha yeah, last time i ordered from them i got some candy, was pretty funny.
I finished the 5 Loups, the Spec Ops and 2 of the Zouaves, this leaves just the Sniper Zouave to finish then it is only bases. I would like to add a Para Commando to the list becaues the one that I had already painted (about 6 years ago to use in 28mm Inquisitor) is in the same scheme as my Kazaks (at the time there was not even a mention of sectorials) so I want to paint one up to match my Frenchies and I already had the model anyway. I will be slightly converted by removing the rifle and adding an M1911 pistol for sheer awesome bad-assery. I will post pics of all the models when they are all finished.

Nuclear, I've got you down for November, miles off. Did I make a mistake when I put it up or do you actually not think you'll be done by then?
Motyak that sounds good to me mate. I like to think of this as a way for us to keep motivated and keep track of our own goals. Whether your target is to basecoat one model by next year or paint and army overnight it's all relevant to you and that's what's important. That had a lot to do with why I changed the rating system and dropped the point value, I didn't want it to feel like we were against each other.
Great job, Nerm! I'll alter your pledge to match, 10 minis now, yeah?

Thanks to the awesome Shae and his quick postage, I'm adding a HMG Grey and 4 Rifle/Light Shotgun Greys to my pledge, but upping it by a week to the 16th of October. I'll spend that week enjoying myself and playing.

My pledge may have failed, but I'm still working on it. Odalisque wsa started last night, and I'm determined to do the face well. I spend most of last night ruining my eyes getting her eyes done well. I've got the kohl look and the whites done so well I'm terrified to ruining them by screwing up the pupils :(

I've got the zero and the two wildcats knocked out. I'll post a photo shortly.
Sorry the photos are dark. I don't have a light box at the moment, so improvised the best I could.
Whites are kinda chalky, but truth be told I didn't thin the paints as much as I should have. Further, I'm trying to simply knock them out at a decent TT standard. ~2.5 Hours into each model.
C&C welcomed.

If you can, put the pictures on the Dakka gallery.
Flickr is so obnoxious about direct linking.

I've found that photobucket doesn't stuff up much either, if you'd rather put them there.

In order to see them, I have to copy/paste the URLs.

Cool. I'm just going to start putting them in the Dakka gallery. Updated, I think.

When I initially pledged, this thread was on page 1.
Since then, I've scratched my cornea twice (had it treated, healed and it relapsed), then had family health issues (which pushed EVERYTHING back by about 6 months). Between mother with breast cancer and sister-in-law with terminal liver cancer, and my own eye issues, I did about 4 weeks worth of modelling in the last 6 months.
These pics all taken before final washes for detail. I don't paint to win awards, I paint so that my models can play on the table (I will not field a bare model on the tabletop, regardless of the game). Criticism of paintjobs and suggestions on how to improve will be noted and filed and not acted upon either way.
Anyhow. Finally got the time to document some of the pledges for my QK. My 4th and last Infinity army. The Haqq contingent is currently drying after having washes applied and will have better pics taken when they are dry.
Iggy and his stooges (model made prior to the art being released for the Iguana). That's a Mobile brigada HI with HMG and modified head. Also proxies as Iggy operator (until the actual model is released, when it will be replacing it.).
Some of the ghulams and the Djanbazan HMG prior to the final highlighting and wash.
Other Ghulams (Yuan-yuan male, Aconte regular and old Ghulam doc). Bit of a snip/snip from a spec ops and bingo, the aconte defector has the same gun as the others.
The Druze militia and single Kaplan security consultant.
The 2 Hafza. (when they aren't looking like Djans or Janissaries).
So model count was:
Iguana (converted from Lizard)
3 Alguaciles
6 Ghulams
1 Djanbazan HMG
4 Druze militia
1 Kaplan security consultant
2 Hafza
1 Husam Spec-ops model as generic proxy for a third hafza or 7th Ghulam when needed.
Terrain piece is a Pegasus Gothic church kit for my club. It's 14"x12" or so and has a removable roof AND interior piece. The interior section serves to limit LoF through the church.
I'll get a shot if it as well, if requested.
