I don't get much time to paint, but I figured I'd show off my various in progress figs when I have a chance.
Currently Working on:
-Junker Valkyrs & Exemplar
-Civitan Warband
-Jacques of Martinique
-Tajir Serai
-Miasma Themed EFT Party
Today's upload is up the very much in progress Junker Valkyrs and their Exemplar. Originally the two Valkyr in the rear were just going to be a couple of regular Federwerk ones for my personal Vandalands army, but when I got a big bag of miscast/broken Valkyr bits I got the idea for a Junker's guild of Vandals. Gerbils who search battlefields for remnants of Valkyr (or raid factories) and rebuild them into working suits. These guys will be a Mercs Doc Only unit, and will not have the same rules/stats as a regular Valkyr.

Took a trip down to Orlando today to restock on resin & mold material, so no real painting time. Did prime a few more figures though, so here those are, along with the in progress Civitas.

It's the Valkyr's crossbow.
I can also see the sheep.

Sheep? you mean the Earth Troll standing behind the mouse lancer?

Post by: WhiteRoo
It's hat is missing?
36184
Post by: Alfndrate
Nope, the Earth Troll is a solid piece of resin
Edit: In case anyone is wondering, the things on her desk are the following:
Valkyr(s)
Tajir
Jaques
Earth Troll
Mouse Lancer(s)
Mouse Conscript(s)
Ballista
and what I believe is the Gunsmith from EFT

Post by: Casey's Law
Bloody Endless nonsense!
So that is the Ballista on the big base?
9883
Post by: Cyporiean
Ballista do go on 50mm bases in the rules...

Nice one! It looks a good size next to the miniatures.

The 'sheep' is a variant earth troll. The awkward posing of it makes casting it an issue, Em fixed up a miscast. Not good enough to sell, but good enough to paint up for ourselves.
We'll be trying to make a new mold of it at a later date.

What are you planning to change on the Luca Valkyr?
36184
Post by: Alfndrate
Whiteroo, look at the left arm on the Valkyr... See how instead of a crossbow it has a Panzardi Special? (i.e. the chaingun).
70211
Post by: WhiteRoo
Oh... How didn't I see that...
9883
Post by: Cyporiean
Aye, its a very simple conversion atm. So far i've just chopped off the left forearm of the valkyr and the last 10% of the chaingun bit and then attached them. Both parts are about the same diameter so it goes together nicely. I'll be adding some more bits to it (ammo box/feed) to make it look a little more spiffy before painting.
Likely when we do her official model it will be an upgrade kit like the special warjacks that PP does, with a new left arm and the pilot model.
36184
Post by: Alfndrate
Me personally? I would have preferred something like this:
I think the image of a Valkyr holding a chaingun ala Rocinante/Terminator w/Assault Cannon is awesome
70211
Post by: WhiteRoo
"Sir, this mech is not strong enough to hold that cannon."
"Chain it to it's arm then!"
36184
Post by: Alfndrate
Actually if you look at it... It's more like...
"This cannon has some serious kick, chain it to its arm so that the jack doesn't drop it after it fires."

Post by: WhiteRoo
There is absolutely nothing that can go wrong with that plan...
There will be a Warmachine PC game later this year, so we can see what happens when that thing fires.

First Gecko Rider to come out of the pot! A little shiney/sticky and the rifle strap broke, but no other issues. Now to cast up a bunch more of them for the folks who have been clamoring for them.

Tajir looks great, and that gecko rider looks awesome! It makes me sad I missed the Scyzantium kickstarter. Though at the time I don't know if I would have been ready to go in on it then. These are now both on my long list of figures to pick up eventually.
btw - What is that little creature next to the turtle? It looks vaguely like the thing pictured behind the summoner in the EFT artwork.

That gecko rider is simply an amazing model for the vibe that it gives off. Absolutely well done!! I like it almost as much as the black kiwi, which is my favorite model of you guys' to date, and is also cavalry.
Very, very cool.

Post by: Cyporiean
It'll be a very iconic unit for Scyzantium, I'm really looking forward to painting it.
Of course in our traditional sense of luck the first cast came out beautifully, and then the next two have a variety of issues. Ah well, so is the joy of casting miniatures.
Painted a Dragoon today, will get pics of it later.

Post by: Galen
Sorry to hear about your recent casting issues. I suppose you try to push for the more dynamic/detailed looking models, which doesn't make for simple casting. I wish you luck.

It's a few thralls, a thief, a DP, and a rhapsodist that all miscast, so I'm working on green stuffing them a little.
9883
Post by: Cyporiean
Generally, when a miscast happens its a real downer because of the time and material wasted.
This time however, it was awesome. Apparently there was a previous miscast with one of the assassin molds when Eric was doing the clears, and since its hard as hell to see clear resin inside a white mold part of the adsassin's head was left inside... So cut to this week, and my first pour of the assassins...

(I'm trying to remember why myself ) I don't think it has to do with their "inclusion" into something that we were working on with Mongoose last year.

Does it comes whit alternate, non-gas-mask head?

Depends on how it's marketed. If the kit is a "Badger-At-Claw/Badger Grenadier" Kit then yeah it would. I wouldn't know because I'm not involved with the casting process.

This may sound silly but... Considered selling the trees on their own with out the wasps and abit of foliage scuplted on?
Alot of model rail rode trees are to flimsy when used as wargameing terrain, and the foliage always breaks off of the "Citadel Woods kit".
Custom Kingdom are the only guys who are making anything that is filling this niche, and the trees on the Wil'o'whips look alot more detailed and cool compared to the CK trees.
Something to consider.
9883
Post by: Cyporiean
I have been thinking about selling the tree bit, especially since we're casting in-house its alot easier to bit out kits.
Foliage clumps would easily glue onto it and look pretty nice IMO. I'll likely make Ramos add a few when I have him paint it for the display case.

These look really damn creepy.
So, how the one with the tree works? You can put as many of the bugs as you want to that tree and it is considered to be on a single base? I see one has one bug and the other has two.
I also would be interested buying the tree.

They are a 'Weapon Team' unit, so several models on a single base. A Will-O-Wisp will come with 2 Fireflys for you to place however you like on the tree, I just put one on 1 and 2 on the other for speed.

All the new sculpts you've shown after the Kickstarter look great. The gargoyle I had been wary about because there are plenty of gargoyle minis out there, but this one really fits the EFT aesthetic and looks like someone's minion. My favorites so far are Mandragora, Deep troll, and Gargoyle, but those gels are sweet too.
Cyporiean wrote:They are in Addition to the Wastrel, Waylayer, and Worshipper, which Bob Naismith has done and we're just waiting on their arrival.
Completely off topic, during my recent move I was unpacking books and came across Bob Naismith's COBALT-1 science fiction tabletop rulebook and some corresponding figures, his own miniatures game from 2001. I knew that name sounded familiar. That was only a week after I received my pledge from Patrick Keith's Counterblast Sci-fi adventure game. OTLG works with some great sculptors, but apparently they really like doing sci-fi! Now, I need to find out where Heath Foley is with Gods and Monsters.

2nd Item Deck we're currently aiming to release in October, but I'm not 100% on that timing.
