Alright lads! its time for another round, and well you know what that means time to get the models rolling. This round Is to paint up/create bad ass looking squad/model! This is suppose to fit in an elite or heavy support slot, but we take models from every where so if it looks gnarly and mean it qualifies. Motor Bikes, tanks and all are allowed, just as long as it looks like some hard core veteran or general action movie hero
Rules and Doo Dads Model must look like it goes bad ass. Model must be painted - even if you are not the best gold deamon status painter - this category is only a mild scale tipper
Painting as follows -will be judge be effort which includes, but is not limited too:
Spoiler:
highlighting washing OSL gem effects power weapon effects weathering and lastly free handing
Basing is also a requirement (IF IT HAS ONE) Main judging will be done based on the rule of cool

Since I do not play 40K, my entry will probably not fit into any 'slot'. He will most likely be in the category 'Bad ass ganger/zombie hunter'. So far I can only be sure of one thing, he will be riding something. Either a futuristic akira-like bike, or a triceratops. He will most certainly not look like bruce Willis, and will absolutely never ever yell Yippee Ki Yay...
He will be seeing dead people though
So, just to throw this out there, and for those that don't understand my setting, feel free to look at my P&M blog, but i have a question...
Triceratops, or Futuristic racing bike?
I'm not sure, both could easily fit my necroquisipocalypse setting. Myself, i'm slightly drawn towards the bike though...
Viktor von Domm wrote: How could a mere bike top a dino??? I think the answer is rather straight to this one...
Convert the triceratops to be idling the bike with he guy firing his gun from the shoulder? Brilliant vik hopefully my codex:space marines shows up today and I get inspired, but I'm still not officially entering , cause if I enter then. Won't get it completed .
Ah...it sounds very esoteric...your musings...:p
I will post pics later on... And you lot tell me if it is badass enough... If not I will make a new one..
Automatically Appended Next Post: And I might change my entry, if that's ok.
I say might. I was kinda kidding before, but 3 comps on the go so who knows.
Here's what I started on this morning. Since I'm building scythes of the emperor, I thought I'd build a piece to fit my army. He will actually be the standard bearer, banner to be made later. Here he is inside a space hulk laying down the law on a bug who has finished off one of his terminator brothers.
The scythe is ceremonial normally. He is the standard bearer and the standard will be hanging off the back. You'll notice the wrist bolter on his other hand is aimed at the genestealer, that is why the genestealer is shrugging away.
Well I have had a hunt around and it looks like chaos boys for me again started some models tonight WIP pictures in the next few days but this picture is the inspiration for my badasses
Brother-Captain Scotti wrote:This sounds great! Can I join in? I have a project that will do badass in a simple and colourful way

I say this with anger. YES.
WELCOME

Neat! welcome

Nope, step on in!
DiDDe wrote:Is it allowed to enter with a already completed model
My sincere apologies, I had failed to realise that you had already laid claim to the idea of a bike.
Of course I will happily do something else if needs be but I am sure that if we were to both do bikes it would not reflect poorly on either of us. I am also confident that whatever you come up with will far out strip my own efforts, I have just finished reading your Inq28 blog and some of your works are incredible (I particularly like the punk rock missile guy on the first page)
Quick update, people have expressed concern as to the size of my scythe...well the intent was for it to be the banner pole of the army. Here it is with the basic banner added to see it in its future glory.
Marine_With_Heart wrote: This... Now this I could enter. How about a World Eaters Lord trying to take out the big dog to take control of the warband? ;D
Mini diorama style, so if my idea works it could look interesting. Put me down as entering my good man.
I am so tempted to join this but will I finish another started project I just don't know if I can do this
I am just sticking the arms on a Ork right now can I enter this mini ? Or do I have to start from complete scratch as I only have just started to work on him ?
If I can enter him then count me in (still need to base, GS some detail and paint it ) I really need the encouragement and this could help.
alabamaheretic wrote: *uses peer pressure on ldd*come on you know you wanna....whats one more project sides this is int he name of bad ass...
I just amended my above post, if that is OK count me in and to be honest I anit no threat as I aint that good and I never finish anything ………. well the misses says that anyway

You need to just have it be unpainted. built or not is fine. Welcome

OK here are my first WIP shots. I've gone for a Black legion commander and his Chosen bodyguard. Each Chosen is dedicated to a different chaos power (totally ripped off from Abbadon's Chosen) a total unit of Chaos badasses.....
Khorne
Nurgle
Tzeentch
Slaanesh
Lord
a bit more green stuff work to finish off then on to the painting
Nice job VIk like the outfit looks very regal and interesting basing set up, MauS like the paint job has a slightly Anime meets Tron vibe works great with the DE miniature looking forward to this.
One model, a squad, a company, all is good LDD. It just has to be bad ass..., and take up an elite slot i believe...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Moar progress, playing with her pose, settled on this sort-of getting on her bike gunning pose finally... required a lot of cutting up stuff, and a fair amount of green stuff so far.
She will be blonde...
Thanks for clearing that up for me ....... Maybe I might push my self for a small squad of badass She is coming on nicely MauS blonde I thought she would be a red head to match her bike in black leather GRrrrrrr
For this one a blonde or possibly a jet black haired femme would be the best choice.
I think I need me to get me some DE bitz, lovely conversion material!
lone dirty dog wrote:Have I got this wrong I thought it was one mini is it meant to be a group ?, if its a group I have no chance of completing this LOL
Its a squad, or a mini, or a legion you know. Just has to fit the theme. As far as slots go those are just suggestions that they could add to your army, doesnt have to go, doesnt have to be warhammer models here.
IceBayPaint wrote:Me and my bad company IG veteran squad are in.

KingCracker wrote:Awww hell, I need some motivation on painting again anyways. Throw my hat into the arena as well. I've got and idea for a bad ass mini.
Now to wait till the decals dry and then a couple more layers of gloss, a polish, and then its on to weathering and chipping. Not too much though, i like the idea of a well maintained bike, even though the world is run by zombie gangers...
I might enter 2 minis if that is cool, but they are separate entries are we allowed to do that ? dam I really am running before I can even be conceived here
At MauS that is looking sleeker each update mate, although one question why the Imperial Emblem ?
lone dirty dog wrote: I might enter 2 minis if that is cool, but they are separate entries are we allowed to do that ? dam I really am running before I can even be conceived here

I will have to say one entry per contestant, but the entry can consist of 2 models.
The emblem is just to honour the imperial setting Its the bike's brand of sorts... Its an IBF 1200 (Imperial bike factory 1200 cc nitrogen cell engine, or summin...)
Woo, I might actually finish this time! May I present Brother Nathaniel, my Deathwatch dreadnought:
He's of the Black Templar's chapter, and as such often works himself up into a zealous rage on combat operations...he is not a subtle tool, but a brutally effective one nonetheless

That's fair enough I will have to choose one then, I thought I best ask as they are separate pieces and thought both would fit the bill.
MauS I think it's the Emperors Fire Blade if I remember correctly ?
Inmygraveinmage you don't need my crusader model, you can build your own, they are some cool looking scratch built penitents engines.
Like the use of the sentinel legs and dread bodies, nice work mate
Losteriksson paint all ready and your building sorry built a unit
IceBayPaint@ Loving those guardsman the officer must be a badass to be using two plasma pistols.....probably won't do much for his life expectancy though
I did some work on my bad ass today. Just have to do the base and a small bit of work on one arm and he will be ready for paint. He's definitely going to be bad ass material
It'll only be too late once the deadline has passed... Consider yourself to be in the competition

@K.C., the only problem is the wind i blowing in his own direction , now this might be intentional as his cigar needs a light, but I hope he keeps his stream tight otherwise hat banner might get extra crispy. He does fit the bad ass title well though.
Then again that's me looking at reality of physics n my game of plastic Dollie men back to rule of cool where he wins .
Completely missed the new thread! I like the idea, a sort of anything goes round. Well I doubt I have time to get an entry together but if I were to then I can enter a prebuilt miniature as per the rules right? So would I be able to restart work on my Nork Warboss as a legitimate entry?
If so I might try and fit it in but don't put my name down just yet as I don't think I have time.

Yea you're forgetting the physics of kicking ass. The rules don't apply if you're kicking enough ass. Watch any Rambo movie, you'll see

You may have the model built any time before this contest, just not painted. So! there... haha yes your question, you can.
Thanks. Its a bunch of stuff kit bashed together (Torso/head/shoulders are the new stern guard, legs are from an emp champion, generic close combat arms, assault terminator hands for the SS and TH, Chapter master kit backpack and iron halo.)

Spoiler:
Its gonna be a Storm Warden and a Blood Angel, remembering those who fell in the campaign they are participating in.
Not sure yet if i'm going for black leather, or latex/rubber mistress outfit. She'll be armed with a desert eagle courtesy of Vik von Doom...
No way near done, and not really the best pictures due to the glare of the gloss bike coat...
AHA! YE THOUGHT YE COULD HIDE FROM 'OLE SMITTY, DIDN'T YE!?!?
I actually saw this when it was first posted, I just had a lack of creativity that prevented me from figuring out what to do. However, that has been overcome entirely by accident. This is a platoon command squad of the Cadian 812th Mechanized Grenadiers! Don't let that fool you though...the regiment has taken a serious hit in a glorious campaign known as the Battle for Kasr Muralis (more on this in fluff later). The green regiment was reduced from 8000 men to 121. The survivors are all hardened veterans!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, WIP

Aaaaaand this is the final WIP for today. Based 'em and cloaked 'em. Now they have their glorious camo cloaks and carapace armor for survivability in the Emperor's name.
Thanks all no kit just sourced bits, I am thinking of adding some kind of blade but machete might work especially when it comes to the paint work if I can pull it off
Yes the Green is all my work bloody nightmare trying to get the hand to look like it was holding the bottle.

Arms = GW Short Barrelled Shot gun = Zinge Industries
Base Not sure was = Nocking around my desk
Cactus and Cow Skull = Kromlech ( Freebies thanks guys )
Twigs = cut up sprue
Just to prove that it's not a kit
Nice stuff happening in here, am thinking of joining in, finally have some hobby time tonight so will see if I can make a start on painting my straken counts as, he was sprayed black quite some time ago, is he eligible?
Radu Lykan wrote: Nice stuff happening in here, am thinking of joining in, finally have some hobby time tonight so will see if I can make a start on painting my straken counts as, he was sprayed black quite some time ago, is he eligible?
Yes I think it does count as long as it aint painted yet, I remember seeing your Straken over on WIP and that guy is Badass love the bionics on it, just found your thread on here and subbed Although the torso bandaged guy would have worked as well, any body who took it a hit like him and is still standing has go to be Badass
Hair loss...ach...that was so yesterday... Now all of a sudden I get grey hair... I thought I would lose out on this due to early hair loss...thankfully I wasn't spared... Me wife likes the odd grey hair on me...even if she sometimes just likes to pull it off
vik- my hair has started falling out anyway, no greys as of yet but i think my wife would rather i kept any hair i had even if a grey did turn up, she moans about me shaving it off all the time already so her plucking any would be hypocritical
ldd- cheers, i didnt think of the chest wound guy but yeah, pretty bad ass, how many entries are we allowed each?
Viktor von Domm wrote: Didn't you knew that femmes like to pull grey hair out and to squish zits? Preferably from their husbands and boyfriends?...
So true this so true, I to have the odd fleck of grey mainly around my ears, christ I am only 36 going bald and grey what did I do so wrong

The trimmers do save us some grace only one I am afraid I found another model I was working on and thought great a second entry, but sadly only one allowed.
So far I'm spared the grey on my head, there's a couple in my beard, but nothing major. I admired my dads hair when I was growing up. His started greying around the temple slowly for a year or two, then BAM! Overnight all grey no he wasn't using just for men then stopped. I think he just got a good look at himself in the mirror one morning and scared the color out of his hair .
well... radu... my wife likes me with hair probably more than without too...but i think it is more a kind of mischievous deed of her... aren´t females entertained in inflicting a tiny amount on pain on their men?...or am i with the wrong (read right) kind of women?
unless you look like picard... a bald man has not much of grave ....:(
and theo... what would i have given for being just grey instead of the ever more loss of hair...
now over agan to awesome (read badass) small soldiers....
and Radu...nice pose.... he looks really meaningful... are these anvil arms or where are they from? also... what is that fella having on his arm in the background???and did you carve that scar yourself or was that premade? i cant recall that head to be of GW origin...(in fact i was recently searching for a bald head in my collcetion of bitz and didn´t find any good ones...
his head, arms and legs are from anvil, body and chainsword are just gw and plasma pistol is forge world.
click my sig and you will see better pics of my injured squad
got a quick basecoat on the bionics and face but then i had to wash my hair real reason i didnt get more done= i got distracted with a bfg scratchbuild
hopefully get some real work done on him next time
Those aren't bunny ears...they're the mounting bracket for a hammer that will attach to the top. That way the tank pilot can scream "drive me closer " then drops the hammer on a grot or two. Very much like Robotwars.

You happy now?!?!
I was hoping for a small sledgehammer, but I guess this will do , no you just have to orkify it and call it Da Nail Driva
Yeah i guess.. but then there should be some grots running in first holding a big ass nail. if there's another tank for example, they climp ontop. raise the nail and then the ork commander gives the order to drop the hammer. and viola! the tank is out of business..
So I took a look at my Badass entry, and noticed the gaunt had no cause of death.
Fixed that.
Then, I went on to paint it.
(Please note I have touched it up since this picture was taken.)
Then I started on the guard's uniform.
I had originally thought about painting it light green and goblin green, but they looked too similar, so I made it light green and balor brown instead.
I also repositioned the head. I didn't want him looking at the body like he was surprised he lived. I wanted him looking off in the distance as if to say "Who's next?"
Bit worried, not really started mine, and a bit worried it's a bit OTT. Changed my mind so many times on this one. post couple pics later of what I have, let the masses rule on it.

Its simple, we kill the batman! No I recommend you have your model completely built by the 20th to paint it. If it is built, have it base coated by then.

He will look fabulous, but he would look so good in purple . I love garibaldi almost as much as londo.
lol not babylon 5 garibaldi, my name is gary and when i was a kid i shaved all my hair off, so its just one of many nick names i had as a kid, others will surface throughout my guard.
on that tyranid piece depends on who the badass is supposed to be, the guy facing that thing down or the thing itself
I think if the scything talons were a second pair of legs this would be much better, right now I can't see how it could walk. But the greenstuff is amazing.

Oh and one last thing. Can you please fuse the top of the carapace on the head to the head better? That gap is bothering me... just add more to the fore head area, and smooth it out you be fine and it would look great. It is an epic beast you have there.
I'm afraid I must resign from the competition. I recently damaged my wrist and hand and so currently I can do little with it in a sling, even small tasks are difficult to do and I wont be able to finish my entry on time. Good luck to all of you still in it and I look forward to seeing just how badass you can be.

His model was so badass it broke his hand and wrist when he said he was going to paint it.
Hope everything is okay man, heal quick, comrade will probably start two more competitions before this one ends
@Ruglud - I'll be back for the next round, depending on what Panda and you have in mind of course Also my job is one of heavy lifting and shifting of objects and puts constant strain on my arms and shoulders. Awkward positioning of boxes and such as I am holding them to open put a bit too much strain on the muscles in my wrist and forearm... That and also slicing the meat of your palm is a brilliant way to injure ones self. The Doctor and work recommended avoiding doing anything with my arm for a few weeks just to be safe.
@Theophony - The badass model challenged me to an arm wrestle and twisted my arm into submission before tearing it clean off and reapplying it with super glue. Suffice to say I am too afraid to go near him until the competition has ended. All hail our little grey overlords!

That's what happens when you try and make a 28mm chuck Norris. Chuck doesn't break your arm, he just leaves the rest of your body unscathed.
