Hey all, revealed my latest army this weekend at Feast of Blades for the Open. Realized late in the game that I had to have a 2000pt list versus 1850, so some hastily made acolytes made their wayt into the army, but otherwise, please let me know what you think Draigo and pals.

This is probably the funniest painting/conversions I have seen in awhile.

My face literally has peeled off fro the intense brightness of this army and it was totally worth it even if I am maimed for life. So refreshing to open a post to something like this. Absolutely awesome work

I realized after posting the photos that my Capt Ginyu was a bit offset... they are all magnetized at the waist to help make transporting them easier.

Goddamn it! I was planning to put a marine on a unicorn! That's it then, there's nothing I can do to my mini's to make them look more interesting than yours. Might as well give up and go home.

Could you provide a shot of your Dread Knights closer together just like the Dragonball Z Ginyu pose? I really appreciate that modelling and think it may be lost on a few people, which is a damn shame.

I had the pleasure to seeing these in person this past weekend and these guys are both great looking and vibrant, as well as really great take on the grey knights. Additionally, the gentleman playing them was very friendly (minus game 5 when the warp storm table ate coteaz on the first turn).

Wow! Never before have I seen such a... 'Unique' army. These guys look really great!

These are the best Grey Knights I have ever seen. Bar none.

I love the Ginyu Force Dreadknights in particular, would love to see a group shot of them.

Yea, I'm trying not to be so hot headed... If that was you, I'm sorry. (screw the warpstorm table...). I had a lot of hard fights with this army though and I'd just come off getting tabled by Capn Dee with his White Scars.

Thanks all. My favorite part is that everyone has their own favorite model from the army. I'm probably not doing a joke army anytime soon, but it definitely inspires me to convert more!

I'm glad folks are enjoying it and getting motivated for their own hilarity/nonsensical armies. More fun jabs at the "Grimdark" future makes for a better hobby, in my opinion!

I sold a lot of Warmahordes and used that money to invest in this army and my Sisters/Inquisition. I wanted to take a "God Tier" 5E army and make it 6E, but as a joke. So I made the DayGlow Wing.

I recently sold my Space Wolves to get into Cryx, Infinity, and Malifaux, plus start an Eldar army that will be built for Armies on Parade next year, hopefully. I also want Iron Hands. I'm getting rid of my crons in the same fashion as they don't spark my creativity as much and are kind of boring to paint.

It's incredibly time consuming to get that high level of contrast, as a forewarning. I may have been better to build off a brown base, go to a moderate yellow, and then build the neon yellow off that.

I guess I suck at pictures, but the army is more yellow, but was washed with a very thin green to give it the shadows. I can give the details of how I painted a model if people want.

I do wonder what army would look awesome that way, old style Dark Eldar maybe?

While it might be a joke scheme, that neon color contrasted with the black on the dreadknights looks really good imo. Though that may just be years of childhood conditioning to believe Devastator was the coolest Decepticon.

I absolutely love ol' Gramps Hotwheels.

At first you're like "haha, old angry guy in wheel chair!" Then you see how he halberd is fixed and you realise he is actually ramming people to do any damage, and then you start hearing the sound of an electric wheelchair coming at you in your head while watching his face.

Just amazing.

I'd love to hear how you did that green colour. It's incredibly vivid, and like someone said, on the dreads it could work as a serious scheme too. Those dread poses are just too awesome though. Keeping the rider outside of the dread? Inspired!

The yellow was white primer, and 12-15 layers of Vallejo fluorescent yellow. I may try on future models layering light brown, to yellows, to the fluorescent, but I brute forced this approach. It involved using the thinner medium from Vallejo to make sure the layers stayed thing but keeping the pigment.

Tedious. To a new level.

Then I used the new GW green glaze but with more Vallejo thinner medium and water. About 2-3 washes got the right level of color to for the shadow effects.

Finally, I returned with the yellow to catch spots and then a yellow/white mix to highlight.

The dark accents provoked a great deal of swearing and nights of having to just set models down. I don't think I'll be keen to tackle this for other major units in my GK army, however I do have a matching Librarian, Tech Marines, and Justicar Thawn on the bench. Likely to be a long time before they get done because of a special job I'm doing right now that's going to be on a timeline.

Too many models, not enough time to paint. Story of my hobby. Glad folks are enjoying it. It's actually a great army to play with Coteaz and some acolytes in the mix. But for now, I'll be building stuff from my sisters, planning my Eldar Exodites, and working on a special project.



Also, I'd like to point out my lone Pal-adin, Steve:



Steve is my Solodin, arriving late to the party as usual. Steve teleports on the battlefield... in utter confusion. You see, Steve missed the memo on the paint jobs. Steve's always the last know these things. And Steve's incompetence weighs on his battle capabilities. In 9 games with this army, Steve has done something good once and only because Captain Ginyu had his back. Steve has mihapped into oblivion, eaten lascannons, assaulted assault marines and failed to kill a one with his daemonhammer, get cut down in close combat with 10 plaguebearers, shot to pieces by pink horrors and even die to overwatch from a missile launcher in a marine unit.

All I can say this... Goddammit, Steve. Goddammit...

Cher's a GK now? Wouldn't surprise me. At about 110 she still looks 30ish. But the overall army... has some serious merit.

This army is obnoxious and ludicrous and I love it. Good painting for such a silly scheme too!

I don't think I know where you are going with this.

Expensive hobby is expensive.

All kits were bought at retail as I needed new stuff to do the customization work. The army was roughly $300 for the core, spare parts from other kits for Acolytes and a Coteaz model I traded for.

Draigowing is probably one of the cheapest armies to get to 2000 points and can be rewarding for any painter, as the basic color scheme is simple to achieve.

My almost 3000pts of Sisters is another issue entirely...

OMG - That is the first time that I have ever seen an army painted in OSHA approved safety colors! Other than the fact that I am having a hard time seeing anything after looking at the gloriousness that is day-glow safety green, I have no complaints, and I approve of it. Of course as I scrolled down the first couple pictures, I had to do a double take after asking myself "was that a unicorn?" This army is spectacular, great job!

I think one of my favorite things in 40k is seeing funny stuff like this. Great job.

I first thought it was an 80s army, complete with DreadKnight doing "crane technique" from the Karate Kid ... but Ginyu Force Dreadknights are so much better!

When I first started looking at this I was like WTH? As I scrolled down I liked the army more and more. Crap you have made me want to do one like this now. You need some piles of sparkly warp dust on the swords though!
