Urban Dead is a low-tech zombie apocalypse browser game where thousands of survivors and zombies battle for the control of a quarantined city.
If you are a beginner and you'd like to get involved it's very simple, just follow the instructions below. We are a survivor group but if you'd also like to play a zombie character I recommend the Nurglings of which I am also a veteran member.
1. Create a character Some of us have Doctor themed names if you are stuck for an idea. Also many of our tactics require scientific skills so you may want to start as a NecroTech Lab Assistant to give you more opportunities early on.
2. Set your group name I recommend you copy and paste as spelling is vital: Whittensdie Institute of Revivification Enforcers
3. Meet us in Whittenside You start in a random location so you'll have to travel to us. Use the map for directions. 4. Link your profile here Choose a Ward at the same time so that we can add you to the roster.
Whittensdie Institute of Revivification Enforcers(WIRE)
Group: Whittensdie Institute of Revivification Enforcers(WIRE)
Motto: The place of the cure of the soul.
Location: Whittenside, Malton
The Guide: All new WIRE practitioners are provided with a handy guide to their life and duties within the Institute.
1. List Maintenance Three lists concerning the populace of Whittensdie were included with this guide, you're survival depends on these as much as it does on your axe or a first aid kit. Maintain them as follows and report changes to the group.
If you encounter an inhabitant not identified on the lists you should record their presence for future identification. If the inhabitant is currently subject to undeath you will have scan them with a DNA Extractor to take some form of identifiable data. You may also find that some previously identified inhabitants have succumbed to the condition of Brain Rot, their data should be transferred to the appropriate list.
2. Ward Duties We have three Wards who perform different duties for the Institute, you will have chosen a Ward when you signed up but you may change if you wish by informing a Chief. You should fulfill the duties of your Ward to the best of your abilities and take guidance from you're Chief. The Chiefs may overrule the regular duties at their discretion.
2. a) Medical Ward Duties Revivification is your main concern and the order is important. Firstly administer the needle to WIRE practitioners beginning with the highest rank and working your way down. When there are no WIREs left you should move on the whitelist.
2. b) Surgery Ward Duties Your primary duty is to engage and repress blacklisted zombies. Begin with those that pose the greatest threat, those closest to our safehouses.
2. c) Paramedical Ward Duties Your role is twofold, administer FAKs and maintain our safehouses. FAKs should be used on WIREs before whitelisters and safehouses should be barricaded before they are powered.
The Lists: The WIRE maintain three documents listing all of the persons that they encounter within the suburb.
Bluelist: The bluelist is our roster of official WIRE practitioners and their ranks within the Institute's hierarchy.

Haha, I'm guessing your going to be queuing up for a Surgical position, eh?
Current orders are to convene on Hitchens to the south of Whittensdie. We can push out from there. DA's Forever will keep any newcomers right and keep things ticking over. I'll need to update the OP next time I'm on, we sadly have about 4 people on a 'Redlist' which I'll add in.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry Alf, missed your post. Glad to have you onboard, I'll sort wards out when I have time.
I've got craploads of all sorts of gear: guns, needles, first aid kits, tools, axes, crowbars and loads of ammo.
Perfect! Glad to have you on board. Just hike on down to Whittenside and come down the the Fire department. You sound like your going to be set as one of our Surgeons. If you want it. Right now we have a small area around HQ secure. I'm out of AP right now, but first thing tomorrow I'm going to have a look around and take stock of the 'burb. If you see anyone from the Blacklist in the area of Hitchens, Feel free to dispatch them at your leisure.
Your Black List reads like a veritable who-is-who of all the most experienced and rotten zobies of Malton so I'll gladly take the challenge of a Surgeon on...
Also, I'm on my way to Whittenside but it will take some time since I intend to travel safely and stock up more ammo on the way.
Sounds good, and take you time, we'd rather have you here alive and ready than dead and shambling
Also there is a Zed in Hurst Casey if you want to pop in and crack him a few. I did what I could. Albert's in there to so he may be able to deal with it as well
Just made a character. On my way but it might take a while as I spawned in Yagoton, though I'm currently shacked up in Shore Hills waiting to get more AP
I'm glad there is some solid support for this. Together we can cure Whittensdie! I'll add you guys to my contacts when I'm sober, if you haven't linked your profile yet please do. DAF will keep you guys right. The most important thing is the Medical Ward, out primary goal is to cure the populace. However if you really want to be Surgical that's absolutely fine, we need to be able to defend ourselves. Likewise Paramedics are very important and there is lots of XP to be had in that role. I can stress enough how incredibly dangerous Whittensdie is, the paramedics are vital to our survival! I'll update the OP when I'm sober so I don't mess it up! Let's breathe some life back into Whittensdie lads!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, until I sort it out in the OP, Zombie George is actually redlist. Consider him public enemy number one. He rarely acts as a survivor which is honourable but he is one of the most serious Zeds in town even although he doesn't have Brain Rot. Deal with him as you see fit. Do not suffer the witch to live!
Im laying in Hurst regaining some AP. Tommorow I'm going to have a scout of Agapitus General Hospital. Its further away from Perryn so hopefully intact.
All your efforts are futile, don't resist the urge. You know you want it, brain rot is the way, the only way. We all float, we all float down here, you know you want it. Haaaaahaaa.

Sir, Im afraid I'll have to direct you to one of our capable surgeons. Im sure they will sort you out.
I have made it to the promised land hell in Malton, I'm in the fire station and did a DNA extraction on a zed in the police station nearby. Didn't get anything useful from him other than the fact he had brain rot... I'm assuming that the extractor doesn't work the first go around on something with brain rot?
Also, definitely putting in for the medical ward. I've got needles out the wazoo, but I'm out of ammo on my firearms, but my trusty axe is still here
Jihadin wrote:PM us the Safe House location or whatever....I've one toolbox...one round in a pistol....and one FAIK
Edit
I got needle back to life DAF.....missing my wallet though......
Oh you didnt know about our payment policy?
Also the link to your profile bugged out like it does sometimes. Would you be so kind to post it one more time?

Yes, getting a clear read on a Rotter usually takes 3 or so goes at them, Unless lady luck is on your side. The Axe seems to be the weapon of choice behind our Needles.
Also the Safehouse is Hitchens Fire Department in the Very south of the suburb. You'll have to enter via free running from Club Hucker next door
I have a newby survivor in West Grayside that is currently suffering from a condition called 'death', and, hum, I'm wondering if I might lurch slowly to your location? If revived, I'd be happy to join your group...
Automatically Appended Next Post: With some help from another survivor I succesfully performed an emergency 9mm brain surgery for the blacklister. The patient is succesfully rendered dead and inert.

Good work! Another poor soul for the list.
Inquisitor Lord Bane wrote:Aww snap, I died. If I shamble over can someone give me a pick-me-up?
Yes. I make the rounds to the cemetery near Hitchens everyday. If your there I'll stand you up.
EDIT: Also Hurst has two Zeds out front. Any work on the cades or the zeds would be most appreciated
I awoke yet again a human to find almost every building overcaded to the point when you actually can't get inside to free run in the first place. Also, many resource buildings in the neighbourhood seem to be actively besieged by zombies and regularly ruined. Its certainly not an easy neighbourhood... I was finally able to get into Sprackling Square Police Department because zombies had broken down the barricades and free run from there to Bisdee Road Fire Station. Don't know if I can find a free running lane to Hitchens, though. At least the Dewfall Cinema was ruined, cutting that lane.
Dheneb wrote:What are some places that someone without free running can get into?
Anything that is at VSB and below will be able to be entered. Club Hucker next to Hitchens is a decent enough place with it being ruined and dark the Zeds seem to pass it by.

Yeah, Our Zed friends have caused a lot of people to be... Over zealous on the barricades, You can get into Hitchens from Club Hucker right next door.
DA's Forever wrote: Nope that is not a friendly. Cortex Damage confirmed. You may want to lay low in one of the churches then. They are usually at VSB or bellow
First we got to get you to free running as it'll make your naps at might a lot less stress full. The main way you'd earn XP is through tagging zeds with your extractor. That's going to be a lot more difficult in our area due to the high number of Zeds, It'll take multiple go's to get a read on them.
Another way to get XP is through first aid. The hospitals are all above VSB though. The one further from Perryn I think we could get away with taking sown to VSB though.
Other than that, Getting a weapon and earning it through taking care of Rotters is another way.
Which one of the Wards interests you most? We could get you started down that lane to earn the XP.
EDIT: taking pieces out of the two zeds in front of Hurst may be a good way to earn some if you have the ammo.
I have my usually human alt heading in from the North (east of the fort), direct me to a NT location where the brain rotted can get livened up and you can count on my shotgunz, nut punches and slamming rhymes.
Alright, I've finally gotten St Symmachus's Church to VSB for those of you who don't have Free Running yet. I've posted a notice inside for it to be at VSB always so hopefully it'll stay that way.
polaria wrote:Blacklisted rotter NothingCanStopTorg (http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1822123) had entered the Hurst Building. Emergency surgery administered, rotter stopped and dumped outside.
Good work, He's been hanging around Hurst. You'll probobly need to give him another lobotomy soon enough.
An army medic currently asleep in a darkened building in Williamsville
We'd be more than happy to have them if you'd want to come down.

It may take us a little to get the capability. If we time it right we might be able to power Hurst and needle you. Hopefully the power doesn't rain the hell of the Suburb on us
Good work doctor, Im off procuring a Genny to the north, not sure how long its going to take. but having it in case we need to Rot Revive a few people would be handy
Did some axe based surgery on known blacklisters NothingCanStopTorg and Hazel Court, both are dead, but I am out of AP so their bodies remain in the Hurst Building.
Alfndrate wrote: Did some axe based surgery on known blacklisters NothingCanStopTorg and Hazel Court, both are dead, but I am out of AP so their bodies remain in the Hurst Building.
...along with me, in zombie form, as they managed to kill me before Alf came along. I need a needle and the bodies need to be dumped.

I should have enough AP to at least revive you...
So... apparently (and I just found this out because I don't read) needles cost 10AP... So, you're revived, but I'm at -2...
Good to hear everythings going alright at the homefront. Took 24 AP but I have the Genny and fuel. So if any Dakkanaughts want to join but are brain rotted we have the capability to bring you back.
Sounds like your doing an expert job, Doctors! I shall be back to join the good fight in the morning and I have many a needle and FAK for our cause. Huzzah!
If someone wants to needle me first, I can the needle NotProp's character that way they're not wasting 20AP.
Woohoo, my first daisy chain.
Thanks Internet my eye have been opened!
I'll be gentle
I have enough to get you up if you stand Alf. It'll be alittle be after until I can get the Genny up though.

We're still located in the south of Whitenside. In the area of Hitchens Fire Department. Right now we're having a bit of a tussle for control of the Hurst NT building.
I am in the vacinity but it seems that the whole area has been ruined and there are more than a couple of zombies wandering round. I think I may be dead when I log back in
Yeah I'm deaded in the Rayment building. You can add Cory Hart to the blacklist as it was him that killed me (and he is still there if anyone has an axe handy), he is level 43 though.
Ill be on my feet to sort out hurst as well. We're going to need another genny to get Notprop up though.
EDIT, Everything is mildly alright in there. Notprop can you step out for one second so we can repair the building, Then you can get back inside and we can cade it around you.

Excuse me while I step out for a while. I could be some time...
Actually having said that a certain Naroin Calloun shot me and dumped me out side already......How rude!
Dheneb wrote: And you couldn't revive me while you were there?
We need the bluelist updated I was under some time pressure to get him up and get back to what I was doing, if you need a revive, let me know and I'll try to get you one.
Sorry been preoccupied with Christmas nonesense but I'm not going anywhere, just don't have a lot of time. I'll get the lists updated asap. I'm also going to strikethrough the names that are inactive because currently there are too many names to fit into the 150 maximum of your friends.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Whitelist sorted.
OK, right now I've got enough XP for diagnosis or NecroNet access, would one of those be better right now, or would it be better to save up for free running?
I took a little walk in zombie form before returning to the RP in wait for a Needle. The situation isn't cool right now. Every single building in near vicinity of our HQ is ruined and all NT buildings have zombies inside them. Just gathering Needles and FAKs will be difficult. My favourite ammo-dump (Somerside Drive PD) is well barricaded and lighted, though. In short, this neighbourhood is pretty much as hostile as can be for survivors and the number of fully skilled zombies lurking about is high.
Aye, the feral dead are rearing they're head at the moment, I'm the one of the only walking member right now and I had to jog all the way to scarlet to get needles. With any luck I'll be fully stocked and back tomorrow evening.
I'm in Somerside Drive PD, infected and low on HP so can't move now. Somerside is EHB but there is an entry point three blocks west in Danversbank side (Percival Street FS).
Sorry I'm so absent. Christmas time is keeping me busy but I'll get us running properly soon and get a game plan in order. Til then just keep up the good work lads.

Onomatopoeia dumped your body out onto the street.
Is this just a random villain or do we have enemies?
Also, I'll be waiting in the cemetery, if someone happens to have a needle to spare.

I'm standing outside of hurst.
Gone to Voss Police Station to pick up some ammo and maybe some gas.

Onomatopoeia is a part of the Flowers of Decay, who are PKers... I dislike PKers more than I dislike zeds.
What's WIRE's stance on PKers? Are they to be black listed like zeds?
Aye, Kill on Sight, They're no better if not worse in our eyes as the Rotted Zeds. Also sorry for the absence but tis that time of the year. I'll be in in out till New Years. I'll do what I can
