Basically this thread was made to make a Halo miniature force and was slowly plodding along at a glacial but still progressive pace. Then BAM Spartan Games announced a new Halo Feelt game which will be followed by a 15mm ground combat game and then a (likely - not certain) roughly 28mm game. I was ecstatic and also daunted and sad, I had spent some much time, money and effort on preparing this project I thought was now redundant. However, I have embraced the new games and decided to continue with this project none the less! Worst case I wind up with some 'spec ops' forces for my armies down the track.
I've also decided to enter the Spartan Games bust painting competition (which closes on the 31st of this month), so have included some pictures of what I have in progress:
The theme of the army is based around the Battle of HIGHCOM Bravo 6 in Sydney Australia, however, if I instead opt to set it near Voi in Kenya I can construct their base around fending off a Flood invasion (complete with pustules and spreading infection) as opposed to a Covenant battle force. What do you guys think?
Good to see you have been kicking this idea around still. Fleshing out some fluff is a pretty sweet idea. Should give the army some nice character. I am eagerly awaiting your first pics.
All the bits I've been searching for have finally arrived! Hope you're still around working on your Covenant, they're going to have some ideological opposition soon. Really liked the look of that grunt you have going in your thread.
Looking good. I just played through ODST a couple of weeks ago (yeah, I know I'm 5 years late) and enjoyed it a lot more than Halo 3. The figure you have there is a nice representation, and I'm keen to see more!
Heavy rain (and consequently humidity) have prevented me airbrushing today, however I have uploaded pics my finalised design for the first ODST and I think he looks the part!
Would you guys rather see them based with futuristic human-city stuff and the occasional Covenant weapon/body on the ground, or with an infectious Flood theme?
Red_Starrise - I'll post that info tomorrow, just thought I'd get the modeller's approval before I posted his details, haha. Glad you like them!
I apologise for this thread dying, real life got in the way. I started the above ODSTs and while I liked them, they weren't quite right. Instead, I've been painting up random models to gett back in the swing of things and think I'm ready to paint up an ODST I'll actually post online. His name is Scorch, he's my first attempt at Green Stuffing and I'm pretty happy with him. The right arm isn't glued on for ease of painting, just held by Blu-Tac.
Thanks, they're from a 3D modeller on Shapeways. He's username is Ishyu, I can find the hyperlink if you'd like? I helped with the measurements, but the man is a god with rendering software
I'm definitely interested! I've got a friend working on an upper body for custom battlesuits that'll be made to be married to a broadside's pelvis & legs (unless I get a Riptide-style pelvis made), so anyone who's got a high-quality printer and such definitely has my interest!
Yeah, the heads are great, little work at first but they pay off. They are printed in what Shapeways calls "Frosted Ultra Detail" it's the most expensive option, but the results are worth it. When it comes, it's coated in releasing gunk that has to be brushed off (I used warm water and a toothbrush), afterwards it was still a teeny, tiny bit grainy, so I just scratched it gently with a scalpel, which did the trick.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Haha, Kepora, Shapeways is a 3D printing company that has high end stuff. Shapeways lets anyone make (almost) anything on their printers, you just have to have the render, which they don't do. That being said, they have forums where developers can go and display their wares. Heaps of good stuff there! Lots of weapon options and conversion possibilities, have a scout around their store (where you find others works) and if you find a guy/gal that does work you really like, you can contact them and ask if they're interested. Alternatively you can get the rendering program yourself and try your hand at designing! (I'm not brave enough)
Looking good! Do you have plans to include and other UNSC assets? I can see Pelicans working as Valkryies, obviously Scorpions as Russes, maybe Warthogs as Sentinels? (If you play the FW Elysian list you can then drop them from Valks and be super-awesome!)
Hey Paradigm, loved your IG guide, actually used it to help get my head around the new guard! Yes, there will be UNSC assets of every variety, as this is a long term project I've got a lot planned - I've included some sneak peeks of some of the current things I've got mostly ready to begin being Green Stuffed.
Thanks heaps, Meph, I'm going to basecoat today and hopefully have him finished in 2 days time (Uni today and tomorrow)
I have selected all the conversion pieces I will be using, if anyone is interested in knowing what pieces will be used, just ask about a particular unit and I'll get back to you - I've used a lot of third party and printed stuff.
Now, the Diabolical Master Plan outlining what Warhammer units' rules will represent what UNSC Units:
Spoiler:
Infantry Squads as UNSC army/marines
These moderately converted guys will be painted in two styles, army guys will be green and khaki (Halo 2 & 3 style), Marines will be painted on a squad by squad basis either green and khaki (like their army brethren) or Brown and grey (Halo CE, Reach and Wars style)
Infantry Squads (Elysian) as Marines
These mildly converted guys will be painted up Halo 4 style, so khaki, green, white and grey
Veteran Squads with Carapace and Scions as ODSTs
Painted suitably blacker than black
Conscripts will represent Combat Support units, such as Halo CE style Technicians, Halo 3:ODST-esque Police and the likes
Commissars will be ONI HUMINT Officers
Painted and converted to look just like UNSC Fleet Personnel, but in black fatigues
Taurox Prime as a Warthog (Need the prime to get the speed to represent the Warthog)
Tauros Assault Vehicle as a Puma (Which isn't actually a UNSC vehicle, just a joke on the dodgy Roosterteeth show, plus lets me field these cool models)
Leman Russ as Scorpion (Scratchbuilt)
Though I'm concerned that the Scorpion will look tiny if it is about the size of a Russ, so I'm thinking of making it slightly bigger to have it at a consistent ratio with the Warthogs
Long Range Ground Scanner (Elysian) as ONI Signal Corps
Valkyrie will indeed be a Pelican (Scratchbuilt, already have the designs. Though I am concerned about the size, as with the Russ, as the Pelican - if scaled to the Warthogs I already have - will somewhat dwarf the Valkyrie)
FW Elysian Vultures as Falcons/Hawks
Maybe convert them a little
And thinking of allying Grey Knights in as Spartans, which I have already got the conversion bits and pieces for
Want to do an Elephant but no idea what rules to use, maybe a FW Gorgon?
If anyone has suggestions, I will be happy to hear them! I even plan on making a UNSC Firebase, Halo Wars style, in a manner that allows it to serve as a gaming table. No units are off limits, might do Covenant and/or Flood in a few years after this one is wrapping up.
Can I ask who on shapeways makes the weapons you are using, really could do with some of those side arms Nice mix of pieces MadRobot torsos, Maxmini legs and A/M arms works surprisingly well together, good concept executed well
Haha, nicely done, you nailed the sources of all the pieces. I'm a long time lurker of the Mad Robot thread, I've read many a post by you! The weapons are by a different Developer than the heads, who goes by the name Dynath, I can grab the hyperlink directly to the pistols if you'd like, they're called 'Halo pistols' or something suitably generic - He does Covenant Weaponry also, so I think I'll grab some of that next. He also did the larger of the two assault rifles pictured with the Mongoose. Unfortunately, the assault rifle by Dynath is a little too big for a guardsman (perfect for a SM though), and the assault rifle by the other artist is too small. Thanks for the complements! Making this UNSC force has been on my mind for a long time, I just really like the aesthetics of it and think it will provide a unique feeling for my guard
Automatically Appended Next Post: Only thing I don't like about the ODSTs I've made so far have been the Maxmini boots, I think the feet look a bit too small. I'll actually be using MadRobot CDF legs for my future ODSTs, Marines and Army, and am thinking of using his M16 variant as the base of several DMRs
Thanks for the info yes I know Dynath stuff i think I have some of his stuff saved on my Shapeways account, just saves me time looking for them this way
Shame about the assault rifles and I did wonder why there was 2 sizes I think you have done a pretty decent job with the parts available and the GS pulled it together nicely.
Yes I agree about the Maxmini boots being a little small although in the end I kind of grew to like the look myself, you could just GS the front a little to extend the length
Good Luck with the project and looking forward to the progression, and thanks again for the info appreciate it
Thanks again, and yeah, I think I will GS his feet a little longer. I think it would have been a little less noticeable with regular guard arms, but with the slightly larger Scion arms it passes my internal realm of permissibility. No problem for the info, the more we support these guys the more fantastic options we'll have!
Unfortunately no, I don't have one fully painted yet. I've just started painting up 'Scorch' by basecoating the different areas. I've left the middle unpainted because I want to paint the ONI symbol onto there, which will be a nightmare to bring back up to white if I darken it now. Please note the model is really, really just in the beginning phases, the only part I've even done a little to is a bit of messing around on the right leg's fatigues.
I'm finding that my painting table is too low to give decent control, and I'm really concerned that in an effort to get a test figure done, I'll end up with a sub-par piece. In response to this concern, I am considering painting some random figures (Such as zombies, Krieg, Elysians and/or Deadzone) to get back into the swing of things. Hope you guys don't mind if I post their pictures here! This project is most certainly going ahead, but I don't want to rush back into painting and botch it.
The partly painted female model is going to be an Insurrectionist (the human rebellion in Halo) Intelligence Officer; I was really just practising painting her jacket to get ready for the ODST's fatigues.
The in progress zombie will be part of a Flood army; I was messing around with brush control on his face. Neither of them are anywhere near finished!
Alright, few confessions! First off, having taken so long off wargaming, I have been finding my painting to be sub-par to what it has previously been. To combat this, I've been painting at home a great deal and trying to get back up to scratch. I've also been working on being more consistently active on Dakka (which will hopefully put more pressure on me to maintain this plog).
I've put in some pictures of a Mad Robot mini head I've greenstuffed to look like a hybrid between the Halo Wars helmet and the Halo 2/3 marine helmet. I'm also hoping for some opinions on what torso I should use. The Mad Robot CDF torso (the resin one) can be green stuffed to look like the Halo 2/3 marine armour, whereas the standard Cadian torso looks like the Halo Wars BDU armour.
AkhilleusK42 wrote: Thanks, they're from a 3D modeller on Shapeways. He's username is Ishyu, I can find the hyperlink if you'd like? I helped with the measurements, but the man is a god with rendering software
Cool. Here I was thinking they were recasts/scans of the Mega Bloks heads and weapons.
Stormwall wrote:Oh my god. Amazing. I loved Halo Wars. The Marines are just awesome. Subbed!!!
Thank you! Me too! Do you have any suggestions about torsos? I'm really not sure which route to go. I'm thinking that perhaps I should do a unit of each to start with.
Platuan4th wrote:

Haha, I hadn't even considered that as an option, still, I'm really happy with what I've ended up with
What an awesome crossover! I've always asserted that GW could make a killing off a new miniature chain about Halo Ahh and so well executed! Can't wait to see more,
I've thought that while perhaps Halo wouldn't do so well as a miniature range, even a generic hard sci fi line that shares the look of Halo would really be a winner. Loving the Mad Robot and Anvil industry stuff, it really looks like a plausible future for warfare. If you keep your eyes peeled, I'll do a covenant force after I finish this one (so a long term goal!) Thanks heaps for the compliments, no gamers locally, so internet praise is all I've got!
The way i see its is which game are you going to base the basic Marine off of. I think the CDF torso looks like the armor from Halo 1. Where the Cadian torso, minus the Aquila, would probably work as the Halo Wars Marines.
Halo: Combat Evolved Marine
Would comment more if I knew what the base line look would be.
Yeah, they do indeed. I think I'll do a squad from each Halo and then compare which ones I like the look of most. I'll post up what pieces I have planned when I get home in about an hour. P.S. thanks for that pic, I haven't seen a 360 degree CE marine before, that will come in handy!
Thanks paradigm! Have new pics of the first converted marine
Automatically Appended Next Post: Still cleaning him up, so smoothing greenstuff and the likes. Also need to make sure there's no flash etc and a few touch ups here and there, but I'm quite proud of him. Still unsure of whether his head is too big. It's smaller than a Cadian but still a little bulkier than the ODST's helmet. Also think he'll be the Halo 2 colour scheme, wanted to show off the Mad Robot Mini's pieces that I bought, and there would be more GW parts in making the Halo Wars Marines.
Really great work here. I always enjoy seeing people try to bring preexisting other universes to the table ( i am guilty in way myself ) It is always fun to see them around.
Thank you both! And yeah, the Firewarrior backpack really looked the part. By all means, model your gue'vesa after them, I think I landed on a pretty great recipe - wait till you see the new ODST I'll be making! Have a Sgt Johnson lined up, along with a random ODST, in addition to a soon-to-be-finished Scorch.
What about the shoulder pads? They seem a tad small in contrast to regular IG, but then again it might further convey that they only have a 5+ save
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm definitely going to have to remove the scope and greenstuff my own, as well as touch up the GS base holding the antenna
I'm glad you like him, he needs a name now. And a unit name, I'm trying to make it something that would fit within the setting, so perhaps after an animal of some sorts. I don't think I'll go as full on with the naming as you have, I'd lose track of them in no time!
Paradigm wrote:Hmm, I'm not massively familliar with Halo naming conventions for infantry, but perhaps land animals for Infantry units and birds for ODST units?
I don't really name all my stuff, apart from those Enforcers as they were easily themed. Other than them, it's just my squads that get names.
I saw all of those individually named enforcers and cried. You are a painting machine, and I was genuinely concerned there would be individually named troops all around
lone dirty dog wrote:That is one pretty damn sweet conversion and the head looks fine to me great use of MRM bits as well and nice choice with the back pack
Thanks LDD, you actually got me onto MRM ages ago when I was still a lurker! I like the backpack too, it was a last minute change from another I had, but it suited the aesthetic more I think.
Anyone interested in making similar, the shoulder pads are off of the Republic Grenadiers' from Anvil industry, thanks to GrimDork's advice. All the plastic is obviously random GW stuff, but everything else is MRM
deadmeat85 wrote:Was about to ask about the shoulder pads. Thanks for the heads up.
Also is this the color scheme you were thinking of doing
Indeed it is - that's actually one of the pictures I'm using to reference the scheme. After this model I'm going to do three figures in an unspecified order: An ODST with new parts and more GS (will be painted the traditional ODST way), Sgt Johnson (ODST armour, but not sure if I'll paint him Halo 3:ODST black armoured, or Halo 2 green armour with the ODST chest piece etc, and of course a Halo Wars Marine, which will be painted in the brown and grey - though I'm not sure if I will make the brown a matted colour like in CE, or a more reflective colour like in HW. I'm leaning more towards matted, less things that can go wrong and much faster + easier to pull off. All will be painted in ultra thin glazes, given how long I've spent thinking about these dastardly figures, figuring out pieces combos and GSing the heck out of them, I really want to give them my all.
lone dirty dog wrote:Hey have you considered Anvil Industries they do some scopes should fit nicely
I had not! I didn't see them in the human section of their site, only in the armoury, which I thought was all SM sized and thus I lightly perused then promptly fled from. I'll check them out later today (I might have to GS this guy, so I can post up a painted figure sooner rather than later, but for future guys having a scope that's good to go would be a huge reprieve, so a big thank you!)
Man Sgt Johnson would have made and awesome Bastonne from the old codex. Too bad they took him out in the new one. Well can't wait to see them painted up.
To be honest, the square shoulders, normal USMC helmet, and the Halo War torso would be amazing for an elite or heavy weapons team, especially if the base was an emplacement for like a heavy weapons team. (I know jack squat about guard.)
These are coming along great! I'm very impressed with what you've put together there. Did you pick up an XBone/Halo Anniversary? I imagine the remastered Marines would give you another nice looking series of references.
I'm waiting for the price drop, but I'd like to play through Halo 2 sometime since I never got around to it on the original.
Alright, painting is about to begin - just need to GS the scope on this particular guy as I won't be able to order the Anvil scopes LDD suggested until late this month. I really like the look of the AI scopes, but am somewhat concerned about their graininess. I've actually already bought a heap of the AI Republic legs, which look way more ODSTish (yes, that is a real term... honest) than the Maximini parts. Plus their feet are proportionate! If you look at the pic deadmeat85 posted of the marine, you can see he has additional armour pads laterally on his legs and also just below the shoulder pads, next marine I do will be getting these, as I think I'm picking up my GS game.
deadmeat85 wrote:Man Sgt Johnson would have made and awesome Bastonne from the old codex. Too bad they took him out in the new one. Well can't wait to see them painted up.
You're right about that! I think he might be a Tempestor Prime (is that the term?) - the Scions army list CCS senior officer. That should be a relatively bad(donkey colloquialism) statline for him.
Stormwall wrote:To be honest, the square shoulders, normal USMC helmet, and the Halo War torso would be amazing for an elite or heavy weapons team, especially if the base was an emplacement for like a heavy weapons team. (I know jack squat about guard.)
I'll do one up after the 2 ODSTs and Halo Wars Marine; though I may sneak a Warthog or Mongoose in before them...
I love the look that thread has achieved, and it's even a recentish thread... I'll have to message the creator. I love the AI legs that he's used, and you're right about scale on those scopes, I'm going to pick up a set of each with some other bits and pieces. This army really is a labour of love. On the plus side, my bits box is brimming!
Azazelx wrote:These are coming along great! I'm very impressed with what you've put together there. Did you pick up an XBone/Halo Anniversary? I imagine the remastered Marines would give you another nice looking series of references.
I'm waiting for the price drop, but I'd like to play through Halo 2 sometime since I never got around to it on the original.
Thanks Azazelx, I'm really excited to paint them up, feel like the glazing should do them some post-able justice. I do have an XBone and MCC, I really loved the remastered cut-scenes, they reminded me how cool Johnson was. The track brought so much nostalgia! If you have a XB original, I think I have a H2 Original I could mail your way? Might tide you over till MCC drops in price, or people start trading in their copies (especially now that the Halo 5 beta is over).
Automatically Appended Next Post: I just dropped the marine and broke his arm off. Gah, nevermind, I am going to treat this as an opportunity to quickly GS the armour inferior to shoulder pads on. I can't do anything about the lateral leg pads, as I've have to file the pockets off, and with the belt equipment already in place it's too late for that. Might also GS the front sight to be a little taller and more closely represent a DMR
I was wondering the issue with the shoulder pads being to small have you considered cut and shunt method ? split the pad add some GS or small PC in between the middle hey presto.
Might be a little time consuming but might help get the effect you want.

Thanks heaps for that LDD, I actually have one of those lined up to try out!
In other news, I've embraced the new Halo minis and am also going to press ahead with my conversions anyway!
all of the below pictures are from today. I cleaned the model (bust of UNSC Vice Admiral Stanforth) and airbrushed him in a 1:1 mix of grey surface primer and airbrush thinner, then did the same ratio but with US Sand as a basecoat. Then I started messing around with greens and reds being added then doodling on the hair. I have a sketch of what is planned that I'll upload shortly, obviously the skin isn't done yet but the transitions are beginning to get there
Automatically Appended Next Post: Why in the world are these on their side? They're upright when you open them and upright on my computer. Gah, I suck at computers
In other news, I've embraced the new Halo minis and am also going to press ahead with my conversions anyway!
What new Halo minis?
Spartan Games are producing official Halo minis. First is their fleet game, available to preorder now, and next year there will be 15mm and 28mm games coming. There's a thread in N&R detailing it all.
Haha, not the UNSC or they'd be using drones and smart AIs everywhere! Thanks all for the kind words.
Would you believe it, but I'm actually looking at being on top of my uni work? Devilry! This means I can even paint a bit today, so I thought I'd outline my plan for the fatigues.
On each of Stanforths epaulets I'm going to paint three silver stars, which in the Halo universe denotes the rank of Vice Admiral (maybe in the real world too, no idea really!)
On his right shoulder pad, I am going to paint his blood type (going to make it up, maybe O neg? Really doesn't matter) exactly as seen here:
Stanforth's fatigues will be a greeny-grey similar to Captain Cutter's from Halo Wars: He will also have the original UNSC logo partially painted on his left breast in black like Cutter has in this photo. Cutter actually has his name in capitals above this, I am thinking of putting his name on the right side of his chest and either painting or greenstuffing on some small rectangles that will be made to look like medals. As the name on the bust is etched in slightly, I am thinking of using some oyumaru to make a superficial cast of the lettering for Stanforth and Vice Admiral, then using it once it dries as a stamp (after a few practice runs of course!) onto his right chest.
The thicker padding on the top of his uniform will be either black or like Lasky's uniform seen here:
Lastly, on his left shoulder pad, I am going to paint the Office of Naval Intelligence's symbol onto it, perhaps with S-3 (Signifying Section 3, the section that made the Spartans and that he was in charge of) painted slightly lower and to the right.
For his hair, I am thinking of making it look salt and pepper style, in particular at the temples, and painting some blemishes onto his skin. For some reason there are some small marks on the right side of his nose and just lateral of the nose on his left side, these will be painted to look like moles or freckles after I do a bit more research on how to do this. Not long left before the 31st now!
The sun is setting, so I'm losing too much light to keep going. The green for some reason isn't as strong in the pictures as it is in real life, might be because of the phone camera not being that good + the yellow light compensation. I'll post more tomorrow or the next day, but I've blocked out the areas I want in different colours. Still not sure what I want the colours of that padded area below the epaulets but above the fatigues to be. I'm thinking a different brighter grey to break things up a little. Less green, more white, but overall still muted. Maybe even a brown tone? Who knows!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Again, the pictures are on their side, but upright on my computer before I upload them and even when clicked and opened in a new window they're fine. Brilliant.
I'm so sorry for the dormancy, here are some pretty pictures to hopefully smooth the transition back! Should be finishing BOTH Fleets today, pretty exciting stuff
I still need to do all the thrusters, some more highlighting on the Paris Frigates, the energy shields on top of the Corvettes and the thrusters on the Covenant as well, but it's going great so far
Okay, so I have finished priming the Covenant. They have also all had a basecoat of a dark metal, followed by a highlight of a silver, next up is giving them a little bit to dry, then using a heavily watered down paint as a glaze/wash and getting the panels outlined before I go over them in a transparent purple, followed by violet (check out the first pic to see one that has started to be painted with colours).
First pic of the ORS is with it having just the metal, the second time around it has been it by the silver highlights. Will give them a bit to dry, then will finish reoutlining them and post more pics.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here is some pumice that I have painted to look like asteroids. I am drilling holes into the bottom of it and using the excess bases and pegs from Fleet battles as stands for it. The plan is to put it on top of the 2D asteroid template. Actually did this a while ago, but only putting up pics now
Automatically Appended Next Post: As an update, I'm up to my last 5 Covenant Corvettes needing shading/panels before I get the purple and violet going on them.
Automatically Appended Next Post: All the Corvettes are done, now onto the actual colours!
So all of the Covenant are washed/glazed now, and also have had their pink applied. I've done about half the Corvettes in purple fully, but still a bit to go. I've done most of the ORS, but am not quite happy with it (plus I smudged some of the paint when I was putting the two halves together), so I'll be revisiting it shortly. Overall, however, I'm really pleased with how things are going. I'd love some input from people as to whether you think I should add a blue in the recesses to further add to the colour transitions, etc. Let me know what you think!
Automatically Appended Next Post: All Covenant pink and purple done. My hand looks like a giant bruise with all the excess purple mottling that has hit it. Pics to come in half an hour when I have managed to let them dry and put them onto their bases. Still need energy shielding and thrusters mind you
Thanks Paradigm, it's much appreciated. I've been flicking through your galleries on your commissions page and they are superb. You've always been good, but damn mate, you've gotten even better, there is so much life to them!
So, decided to mix things up a little and work on the Covenant bust. Overall happy with the gold, just not sure if I like the hex effect I've achieved on his right shoulder, feel it's a little too overt and could be more natural like in the chest area - which I do like. Still, I have 2 of him, and on top of that, will likely be getting a 3rd when I pick up the UNSC and Covenant bust sets. Thank you all for the views and comments
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just noticing that the final 2 shots are a little dark - I'll take some more tomorrow and upload them to better show what I've done
Okay, so I have just been doing the basecoat colours for the cloak and the skin. I figured I'd 'block' the colours and see how I like the arrangement. I'm less against the shoulder in the light of day, I actually don't think he will look too bad for a relatively quick job! Everything is hand brushed from here on in, I did the skin by hand and all the edges of the cloak, just don't trust my airbrushing skills enough otherwise
Thanks heaps, Paradigm, your comments are always welcome!
Thought I'd post this here, it's an Easterling I mocked up a bit ago next to one I painted when I first started - I'll leave it to you to figure out which is which!
So I thought I would have a go at doing an Honour Guard themed CCS. I was happy with the burgundy I achieved, but unhappy with A) the flecking I got in the middle of my CCS (so I will be stripping and redoing that OSL) and B) How much overspray hit the top part at the fore of the ship (so I will be reapplying the red coat in the centre middle to tone it down)
I painted up a ship entirely by hand to show some people how to achieve a decent paintjob without fancy dongles like an airbrush. Not my best work but I did do it in under 2 hours (honestly a record for me!)
Trying again, this time with RCSs, not sure how I feel about the red on the last one, feel like it was a bit of a miss. Thinking of adding 'windows' but I'm not sure what colour to do the dots in.
I did a rough outline of what I am thinking in paint, any thoughts?
Have tidied up the panels a little (still in the basic stages) and added the block colour to the 'gems' which will be made more realistic later today/tomorrow
Paradigm wrote: Coming along nicely, it should definitely stand out!
I'm hoping so, thinking of entering it into the painting contest at the end of the month, fingers crossed for that one Really appreciate your comments as ever. Trying to be on Dakka more, but uni is a tough mistress at the moment
My first attempt (baring 2 hoplites when I was 14) of 15mm. Actually enjoying it a lot and think I've upped my game since my first test solider and really hit my stride on this elite
Both Faction's bases are covered in random sections with sand for texture, and other small parts with the GW special effect paint Aggrellan Earth (thickly) - plus some parts left the natural wavey of the Spartan Games bases themselves
The UNSC bases are, painting wise, as follows:
(Valleyo paints)
Basecoat of Tierra Earth
Heavy desert yellow drybrush
Medium drybrush bonewhite and desert yellow 1:1 ratio
Light bonewhite drybrush
Selective wash with GW Agrax earthshade to produce patches of slight colour variation
Rim painted with Valleyo Air's Black green
The Covenant are:
Basecoat of Charred brown
Heavy desert yellow drybrush
Medium drybrush bonewhite and desert yellow 1:1 ratio
Light bonewhite drybrush
