At least I read HBMC's entire synopsis before discrediting him.
I'm sorry, but who are you and why do I care?

Furthermore, I don't think that insulting me, wishing death upon me, and insulting a webboard consistutes 'discrediting'. Perhaps you might want to look up the definition of 'discredit' befire you spew any more nonsense here.

Go back to B&C, ya damned fanwhore.

I like numbers, and I like options. I like tinkering and seeing what's possible (whether it will work or not, fluffy or not, etc). I feel like I've been handed a Space Marine codex that has the special rule: And They Shall Know No Options. Fear yes, options no.

I think quite a few players also enjoy assembling and tweaking lists, recommending improvements to other people's etc.  Its part of the fun of the GW hobby, and it keeps the game fresh, playing around with new combinations.

However, Gav and Jervis have decided that because they don't enjoy tweaking lists, nobody else does either.

Posted By Azog on 09/02/2007 1:18 PM

Sadly, the hype I felt has been crushed, and I probably won't even get Apoc now. The new 'dex has killed the impulse.
Knowing that Jervis is planning to go back and ruin the other Codexes is pretty depressing.  I don't see any point putting together a loyalist Marine army now, seeing as most of the options will be nerfed or removed before too long.

Firstly, I wanted to say that I don't like Dakka Dakka. I don't like this forum at all, and I wouldn't have joined here had it not been for this review permeating another forum.

You can go ahead and delete this account, the only reason I joined this forum was to tell HBMC that you are the worst *fudge*ing human being I've had the chance to even hear about in years.

Wait, don't go!  We long for more of your insightful commentary!

Seriously, if you want to discredit H.B.M.C., you need to do more than say that you didn't like his review, and disagree with his conclusions.  And then attack him personally.

Please explain how the new Chaos Codex is an improvement, and why you think so.

That was a very interesting piece of hate mail there HBMC,

I don't think he liked differing thoughts or practical consideration,

Also,
Am I blessed for not knowing what B&C is,

I mean,
it's low to call some-one that in the first place.
To resort to name calling and bringing his Mama into the arguement is childish and just ignorant.

If the best argurment or only line of defence is that of spewing trash and filth onto a highly sucessful, thoughoughly thought provoking and detailed analysis of what he believed with a misdirected codex, that's just sad,

I won't resort to name calling,
that's not only childish, but lame and unecessary.

Also I agree with HBMC in multiple areas,
One mentioned above is...

How is what you just wrote discrediting?
It's paramount to election campaigning by calling the other person an uneducated weiny but not actually looking at policy or thought or presenting any arguement or proposal of your own.

I mean,
what do you think of the codex?
That's the point of this thread?

HBMC put in a lot of effort (and didn't hide anything) in an effort to get people to look at this codex without the blind faith of the Imperium. What are you doing to help this,

if fact,
what are you doing at all on this forum let alone playing the game at all.

Why would you tear down some-one that is trying to make the game better (albiet in a way that you disagree with)

Doesn't make sense,
Is moronic and egotistical,
tears down instead of builds up,
and just makes everyone on this site already dismiss your ideas because you mouth off before your close to presenting anything that could be considered an addition to this thread.

I hope your suicidal attempt to topple to tower that is this review (and subsequent fastest expansion post ever!!) was worth it.

:-(

When I read this over at the B&C, I was expecting a well thought out synopsis.

Don't be fooled.  This poster is not from the B&C.  This is just a blatant attempt to discredit the B&C, a long-standing, noble institution in the online 40K community.  Don't be taken in.  Use your critical-thinking skills.  Would this sort of nonsense be tolerated on the overmoderated B&C?  It would not.

CiaphasKane, why don't you admit that you're just a sock puppet for one of the senior members of Dakka, who has a sinister motive?

(not sure if that was sarcasm or not, but..........)

B&C is not really what it used to be. I read up on alot of things on it. It has some great posters with great topics, but if you venture into the Chaos section, you get people like Lexington and Stella Cadente who will totally rip into anyone who shows even a slight disagreement for the new Chaos book.

There really is no point posting there anymore (at least in the Chaos section).

As for HBMC's review, I liked it. Like myself, I don't sugar coat things and get straight to the point. This person obviously put some time into his review, and even if it seemed bias to others, it really cut through to the heart of the matter: the new book pretty much kills alot of variety for units/models and you have more "no brainers" than you did in the last book.

I can already see at least 4 people in my area turning to Slaneesh, mixing it up with Nurgle and Tzeentch and I can assure you, playing against something like that will not be fun (remember, this game is about fun,not maxing out on the most fire power you can). My pure Thousand Sons will not stand a chance anymore, neither will most of my other 7 armies I have.

In the old book, you still had the abilitiy to take X unit, you just had requirements for them (ie Legion Marines as Troops if playing as a specific Legion). No one was forcing you to play a Legion. However, if you did, you had restrictions. Now, you can have Legion Marines as basic Troops REGARDLESS of playing a legion, with no restrictions? Does anyone have any idea how open to abuse that is? Does anyone not read up on other forums and observed the new army lists people plan on using? Goodness, its so bland and maxed out on power, that again, will not make for fun games.

This is just my opinion, take it for what you will, but I see nothing but torment for me in my 40k games once this new book officially hits the US. I literally have to do a song and dance just to be allowed to play with my "counts as" models now.

When I read this over at the B&C,

AND....there goes your credibility out the window.

At least I read HBMC's entire synopsis before discrediting him.

I'm not surprised you failed to notice the parts in my own rant ins aying that much of the "review" was contradictory, and in many cases, blatantly incorrect.

Oh, and also, I'm not sure where the source for "JJ's kid is mentally challenged" comes from, but I've seen a -lot- of mention from it here on Dakkadakka, which shows really weak intellect.

Back onto the "review", the few attempts to show the "good side" of the chaos codex were laughable. The contradiction between Khorne being a mindless killer and not having any martial prowess, and then ripping on havocs being able to take IoK was my favorite. (Teeth of Khorne anyone?)

I'm seriously done here. Three posts and I already feel sick.
However, at DG.org I had a good reason to be. *thin smile*

Cyphillis- Kane, over and out.

Heh. Well, we now have proof that Jervis' son posts (or posted) here now.

110% fail.

But its cool that he defends his extra chromosomes. You have to be protective of those precious things nowadays. Us pesky Dakka thieves might try and steal them for our own nefarious ends....

HBMC,

Like I said...oxygen-thief.

Don't take it personal - is the opinion of someone who gets THAT upset (over a review of a book about toy soldiers) really worth worrying about ? I'd love to see how he reacts to something seriously going wrong in his life....

Just another internet-endowed little kiddy who thinks its tough to throw off at somebody, when there's no chance of every meeting them face to face.

Cheers,

Padre.

I finally start to wonder if this thread can go on another 10 sites of useless argument. I mean Dakka has some members that make every argument a lot of fun to follow or join. But don't you think it is time to rest the case?
I am a Chaos player myself since 3rd ed and play undivided so the codex change doesn't hit me that hard because I do not rely much on demons. But I can understand everybody who built an army with a lot of demons who his now pretty angry. To come to the minimum consens of this discussion: To give all lesser demons the same stat line was no good idea.
And my own conclusion from the start: Rolling for what your guys can do after deployment is not what a Chaos army is ment to be (unless you do some fancy psi stuff or pray to the gods). The only time you should role is to see if your guys blow up or the enemy. And in this case it is not called chaos, it is called orcs.

The funniest thing is that most of the B&C lot hated the dex as well, so much so that some bright spark started a separate thread "for those who like the chaos Dex".

Needless to say that it fell down the stairs after about 40 posts while the rant thread carried on unabated into the hundreds.

Silly man.

Let's be fair, though...I think just about any codex would work out the same.  People prefer to complain most of the time.  It's easier.

Even something relatively tame, like the Tau Empire codex would probably generate a lot more complaining than a pro-new codex thread.  We'd hear stuff like:

- disruption pods suck now
- WTF on the cyclic ion blaster rules
- vespids suck
- firewarriors didn't get anything to make them useful
- ethereals suck
- the tau space pope sucks
- did I mention vespids suck?
- where are my human auxilliary/druuge/whatevers that I wanted in the empire

Now certainly, it sounds like this codex has some issues, so maybe the fact that the pro-codex thread died quickly makes sense, but let's be honest...EVERY b!tch thread is going to generate more hits.

I was just pointing out that the fact that a forum thread complaining about a new codex will ALWAYS be bigger than a thread talking about its good points.  A previous poster stated a thread for those favoring the new codex died off quickly while the complaint thread grew quickly, and concluded that meant the new codex sucked.  The new chaos codex may very well suck, but ALL complaint threads are larger than support threads, so that is not really indicative of codex quality.

For example,

I loved the new (well now really old) high elves codex when it came out,
that was the last one that I bought before I started playing 40k (because I moved and my friends don't play fantasy yet)

I think most of the WHINGING is a fundemental shift between the ideals of gamers and the business that is trying to produce the rules for profit.

Making rules easier to swallow,
not better to play with and more fun,
means more newbies and more initial flux of money.

Whereas giving veterans rules doesn't get them as much as we already have the models (and will buy new models only if they are good models.

I dunno. People realized really quickly that Codex: Eldar and Codex: Tyranids didn't suck. Same for C:SM. Even the DA codex didn't get this level of complaints. Of course they also didn't lose near as many options- they still got their specialty wings, etc.

I must have missed the 50-page complaint threads when Codex: Tau Empire and Codex: Nids came out. The only complaints I remember about the Tau 'dex was that the Ethereal had become useless, and the Vespid models were too ugly to use (which isn't a rules issue anyway). The new Nid 'dex made Biovores into shelf ornaments, and the 0-1 limit on Flyrants annoyed people that had two Flyrant models.

So basically it was one or two units being nerfed, not whole armies. The balance of those new 'dexes was pretty good and there were a lot of viable unit combinations to play with. Popular combinations from the previous editions (Fireknives and Hammerheads for Tau, Gaunt hordes and Gunfexes for Nids) remained very viable, so very few armies were invalidated.

Nidzilla armies didn't really become popular to use (or complain about) until a few months after the 'dex was released.

Saying "people complain like this about every new Codex" is completely inaccurate. I don't remember a backlash (no pun intended) on this scale against any Codex or Army Book.
