Looks great all painted up! It makes everything blend together better and should be an impressive sight on the battlefield.

Nice terrain too!

The metallic weathering / heat effect / etc is amazing. I really like that model a lot. Eventually I'm going to get my Death Guard whittled down to the point that I can concentrate on making a Plaguelord Super Heavy. I know where I'll be turning for the bitz.

Well maybe it wasnt in the Codex Astartes. The Fellblade was fielded by every legion except maybe the white scars.

I would have thought white scars would of had a stormlord type one- light weaponry, lots of transport space.

Bikes technically fit in superheavy transport space, right?

Superheavy armoured hovercraft, with a massive assault ramp where a full squad or two of Marine Bikers can come roaring out, defended by 8 twinlinked Heavy Bolters mounts.

so a fast mving super-heavy with light weaponry and a large transport capacity?

shrike wrote:I would have thought white scars would of had a stormlord type one- light weaponry, lots of transport space.

just hovering? I would have thought that would be too much like a thunderhawk- light weapons, frontal assault ramp, large transport capacity...

here's what I came up with quickly, using the amazing power of MS paint:

frontal assault ramp, 8 heavy bolters, vulcan mega-bolter, etc.

I can't wait to see them Also, if anyone else out there wants to show off their Fellblades feel free to post pics here. I'd like this to be a communal thread for the lovers of everything Fellblade related in addition to seeing what I'm working on.

That being said, I really wish I would have done a better job documenting the build of the Iron Breaker. I plan to build another one sometime this year for a client and will do a much better job of showing the whole process. Building a Warmaul variant is quite a bit of work but the results are all worth it

It will be blue

Actually the Ultramarine Fellblade (and the GK for that matter) maybe part of a larger project I'm contemplating. Once I hammer out the details and get started you guys will be the first to know.

gobbledog wrote:I was just wondering what happened to the Dark Angel variant? Have you finished that beauty yet? I need one of them.

Unfortunately not :( Last year I was asked to do a number of commissions each of which took longer then I anticipated, but I'm almost caught up now. There is still a new resin piece or two I want to add to the DA Fellblade and I need to make the masters and get them cast up first. Once that is done I can get back to working on that beast.

Does it fire marines?

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 02:20:18

Post by: Ovion

It should fire smaller tanks that fire marines.
With giant chainswords for tracks.

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 04:14:55

Post by: Anvildude

Nah- it should have treads made out of legs, and each leg has a Power Foot, for POWER STOMPING EVERYTHING.

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 04:16:54

Post by: Zefig

Your Oppressor tracks would be great for an Angry Marines fellblade.

Some way to give it DCCWs would be kinda funny too, so that it could punch things. I'm not really sure how that would work, rules-wise.

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 06:00:12

Post by: Anvildude

Easily enough. DCCWs just give vehicles Close Combat attacks, meaning they need a Weapon's skill and Strength.

Or, do it like the Ork Wrekkin' Ball- on a roll of something, it hits, and does a Strength Whatever hit.

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 14:46:20

Post by: Ovion

I was going to suggest giving it an arm for a CCW too/
I've always liked the idea of say, a predator, being able to rplace its side sponsons with fold-out arms. Kind of like giant versions robotic arms on the techmarines, just with a giant chainsword at the end of it, that can attack anyone within say... 3" of the sponson.

Rules wise, I'd say:
Standard sponson mount with WS3, S4, I3, A3
Built in storm bolter or flamer.

Can take following upgrades:
+1 WS
+1 I

Can replace Vehicle Chainsword with:
Twin-Linked Chainsword (+1 attack, re-roll hits)
Vehicle Power Sword (Power weapon)
DCCW (doubles strength, power weapon)

Can replace built-in storm bolter of flamer with:
Heavy Flamer
Heavy Bolter

Don't know about points, but that's what I'd do.

Just have 4 of them on the Angry Marines Fell Blade

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/10 16:24:44

Post by: Anvildude

No additional attacks- just the one. If you want more choppy, you need to get more sponsons.

^ Win.

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2012/02/11 14:49:32

Post by: Machinator

Yeah I was definitely thinking about the Oppressor treads for the tracks

The main armnament would be a twin linked catapult for shooting chain axe wielding space marines with a pair of adamantium boxing gloves on either side mounted on hydraulic rams for close combat.

What do you think?

as long as there's an angry marine sat in the catapult

Your Oppressors may well work, I'd be tempted to say create something to extend them forward, so it can run up to and maul things with them .

Making an Angrinator turret for the top of the sponsons would be good. (Hell, making turrets to outright create an Angrinator would be fun), With the main cannon firing a kind of... mintank that fires angry marines.

Basically the Angrinator barrel with tracks and weapon mount (storm bolter / flamer or something) thats pre-loaded with an angry marine

I'd say make the CC sponsons, but include the option for regular crap (i.e. giant chainsword, giant sword, mount for Dread 'hand', and a giant boxing glove affair). I would buy a CC sponson

Post by: Zefig

I like the sound of this a lot. Oppressor treads counting as something like a deffrolla?

I've also toyed around with the idea in my head before of making something like a train pilot/cowcatcher entirely out of chainswords before...maybe something like that?

TBH, It'll be a good year or more before I'll be able to afford anything non-xenos, so this would work for me

Well it's been a long time since I've updated this thread but I finally had some free time to work on my own stuff. So I've started work on three new weapons that people have been asking me about for a long time now: The heavy flame thrower/thermal cannon and the plasma cannon. So here we go....

The flamethrower/thermal cannon will actually be sold together in the same kit and will be interchangeable with the weapon mount. The kit will consist of the shrouded mantle, two weapon mounts, and a set each of the flamethrower and thermal cannons.

There still quite a bit of detail work needed such as vents and hoses for the weapon shroud and the igniter under the flame thrower cannon but it's coming along.

Next up is the plasma cannon that will be integral to the Dark Angels Fellblade when I return to working on that beast. I wanted to give the plasma coils more of a caged glass look so I added the ribs in-between. I also added a few design elements from my Tank Dynamos to the plasma cannon nozzle as the two are meant to go together on the model. I also plan to add a new plasma Tank Engine, which will also go on the DA fellblade.

Hopefully I will have these ready to cast in the next couple of weeks.

So until the next update.....

2. How do you make tank wheels?
3. Do fellblades use 'smooth hexagonoid track piece' instead of standard 'Baneblade' ones?

They're coming soon, I have a few releases I plan to group together. Hopefully later this month or early November.

1.) If a fellblade was commanded by an IG I'd just treat it the same as a Baneblade or knock it down to BS3 and take off 50 points or so.

2.) Everything I make uses cast resin.

3.) Fellblade and Baneblade can use any kind of track. I like using my Liberator Pattern 1.0s as they give it a different look.

With the upcoming Feast of Blade tournament I was asked if I could once again supply a prize and of course I said yes. It's not often I get to build up something cool for a good cause. But what to build?

Well a Fellblade naturally, but not just any Fellblade. It was time to introduce something new. So without further ado, here it is:

So as you can see the Tank Engine 2 (plasma engine) and Nova Cannon (plasma cannon) will soon be new entries into my store. They still need a few tweaks before production but both should be available by the end of the month.

Of course with the release of these components I can perhaps restart a old neglected project just in time for the release of their long awaited codex....

As most of you know now Games Workshop and Forge World have released official rules for the Space Marine Fellblade super-heavy tank in the Horus Heresy: Betrayal book. The Fellblade is now canon and it puts the rules and history of my "Fellblades" into a lurch. So time for something new....

After much thought I've decided that the best way for me to proceed would be to throw out the “Fellblade” name and stick with what I original envisioned my super-heavy to be, a predecessor to the Baneblade. They will still go by their variant names but all can be traced back to an original chassis now called the Glaive. The modified rules and histories will predate the introduction of the official Fellblade into the 40K universe and will also explains why it replaced them and why some are still around today.

So I give you my "re-envisioned" rules for the Glaive super-heavy tank and its variants:

The Glaive:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBNXJ6N2ZtZVlNSzA

The Broadsword:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBMUh3X0ZjVFZiSTQ

The Ignitus:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBbm1tUmJMbjRNbXM

The Warmaul:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBQXlaUkxkR0JwRDg

The Lance:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBYTlUSHVvOWo4dkE

Feedback and criticism is very much welcomed. I would very much like to hear what you like, don't like, and what needs to be fixed.

Also, if any of you have pics or names of your Glaives or Glaive variants that you’d like incorporated into these datasheets please let me know. This is very much a community project now.

Thanks everyone!

On a crazy thought - I'd love to see a Hover variant.
After a quick google I think something like this:
Spoiler:

Would be good inspiration for such a beast. (Slightly sleeker as it were, wider, flatter turret... it'd need some sort of 2-3 point large 'hover base')

(Of course if someone would make something like this:
Spoiler:

I'd buy a set

Yep there's more then plenty there to do the ones like mine.

Bascially the two long sections go on the bottom. The four 4-link pieces are used to go from the bottom set of tracks up to the idler and drive wheels and also along the top from the idler and drive wheels. The individual ones are used around the idler and drive wheels and as needed between the sections for added length. It's a but of a tricky process so take it slow.

Good luck!

Greetings all, it's been a long time since I've posted on this thread but I have some wonders to show you

As many of you know I started a flamethrower/thermal cannon around the same time as my Nova Cannon but it sadly fell to the wayside as I wasn't liking how it turned out. But after some revisions it has now emerged like a gun toting phoenix of doom!

And what giant flamethrower/thermal cannon is complete without a huge fuel tank?

The very first of these I hope to have at the Big Game III in Memphis next weekend with the offical release soon after. These pieces will be quite handy for those looking to build a Ignitus super heavy....

Yep, I probably sell these as a one and two pack just like my Tank Dynos. They'll go up in my store after next weekend.

I get the rivets and bolts from a company called Tichy Train Group. I highly recommend them

The world wide Big Game III is happening this weekend and I was asked to provide some prizes for the main game occurring in Memphis, Tennessee. Eager to show off my new parts I built a nice little tank as a giveaway.

Behold! The Ignitus tank!

The main weapon has a swappable flamethrower and thermal cannon piece held in place by magnets that allows you to switch barrels out very easily.

So if anyone is going to be at the Memphis event I’ll see you there!

oooo, I love those. Makes me very tempted to see if some of these guns and the smaller turrets would fit on my Chimera chassis Russ variants to make them look a bit "older" design.

I take it the sponson turrets are the small ones and about Chimera turret sized so the medium turrets would be suitable for a Russ?

This has nothing to do with tanks but is another prize for the Big Game III I thought you guys would like to see. It's three of my Thunder Assault Speeders with space marines mounted on Dragon Forge's 40 mm x 75 mm Ancient Ruins base. And yes, I know the right shoulder pad is missing. That's so the winner can customize it to their chapter if they wish

Those are cool!

Just wondering - are all the parts so far for superheavies?

Would a chimera conversion kit be do-able - maybe a set-back turret version?

Would be funky to have some parts that would allow you to turn a Chimera into something that looked a bit different or that could even be used as a Russ.

.

Not without some modifications. The GW Russ turret I believe uses a 5/8 inch mounting hole and the Predator uses a 1 inch. You'd have to adapt them to the smaller mounting hole on the Capricorn.

Well in my quest to never leave good enough alone I decided to go back to my old Light Turret and do a redesign. Now not only does it look much cooler (in my opinion) but it also has inserts for 1/8 inch diameter magnets and it has the option of either using a 1/8 inch mounting post or a 1 inch mounting ring, which will make it compatible with certain kits.

I've also made a little insert for my Butcher Cannon that will allow you field it not only as a large caliber siege weapon but also a quad barreled cannon.

So what do you think?

Sponsons have been an idea I've been bouncing around. I have an idea of what I want to do with them but need to put the design on paper to see if it will work. What did you have in mind?

Fellblades of Renown: The Ancient Super Heavies of the Space Marines  @ 2013/07/31 14:14:24

Post by: Big H

I'm not sure of a firm design , as such , but I'd like something along the lines of the FW MkII land raider sponsons (A straight rip of from WW1 British tanks)

They would work really well with one of your 'Fellblade' kits. A bonus would be fitting Landraider too then the whole force would have a unified look.

It might be easier to make them to fit Landraider and design a mounting plate for Fellblades ? The mounting plate could take the removeable armour slots on the Baneblade side and then be "Marine'd" with armour plate , and the little gunnery computer lenses you do.

Or a template to cut away some of the Baneblade side armour.

Don't Land Raider sponsons pivot a full 180* versus the 90* arc of a Baneblade / Leman Russ sponson?

It depends on the version. The MkIII Land Raiders have a full 180 arc but the MkI and MkII are limited to 90 degrees. The sponson I'm thinking of making would have the full 180 degree arc. I need to get working on that....

Love your stuff Mach... do have anything that will easily substitute for a one-missile per volley turret that would fit in the predator mount (in case I wanted to "hunt" fliers without a brand new kit)?

I am planning to make something similar for my Light and Liberator Turrets. Basically a missile rack insert that can be swapped out with the rest of the weapons. It's another thing on my list

So does anyone remember that Dark Angel Lance I started way long ago?

Well I finally finished putting it together! Take a look:

Now usually this is the time where I begin the painting process but I decided to do things a little different this time. It’s been a long while since I’ve picked up a paint brush and I really wanted this one to be done perfectly. Luckily enough my friend Tommy Clark Munkey-Joe offered his services so it is off to him for a snazzy coat of paint.

But there’s more!

With the holidays coming up I thought it would be in the spirit of the season to give a little something back to the community. So I’ve decided that this item will go up for auction with ALL of the money raised going to Toys for Tots just in time for Christmas! I’ll even cover the shipping cost. Not only will be fun but it will be going towards a great cause as well.

So keep your eyes peeled for details!

Well technically I'm not calling these Fellblades anymore now that Forgeworld has an official kit. This particular one is a Lance variant based on the Gladius super-heavy chassis, which was the predecessor to the Baneblade (all unofficial, of course ). The latest unsanction goodness on these creations can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blood-and-Skulls-Industry/302835446422577?ref=hl#!/media/set/?set=a.608421485863970.1073741833.302835446422577&type=3

The Angelus Redemptor’s service to the Dark Angels Legion can be traced back to the later days of the Great Crusade where it served as the command vehicle of their elite armored company known as the Ironwing. Constructed by the Legion’s techmarines under the gaze of the Mechanicum this super-heavy tank was fitted with a unique dual chambered plasma reactor that could not only power the machine’s main drive indefinitely but could also be tapped to provide munitions for its vast array of plasma based weaponry. However, in the chaotic aftermath of the Horus Heresy the Angelus Redemptor disappeared from the Imperial records and it was feared lost to the Mechanicum, until now….

At long last it is here, rolling from the forges of Blood & Skulls Industry and expertly painted by Tommy Clark “Munkey Joe” I present to you the Dark Angels very own super-heavy tank: The Angelus Redemptor! Based on the Baneblade plastic kit this tank is loaded with tons of resin parts from Blood & Skulls Industry and Games Workshop plastic bits making it one huge custom model that would be the centerpiece of any Dark Angel army. Gothic, mysterious, and armed with more plasma weapons then you can shake a Sword of Secrets at this machine of war truly has a place alongside the sons of Lion El’Johnson on the battlefield. And now it can be yours!

The Angelus Redemptor is now available for auction on eBay but the story does not end there! In keeping with the holiday spirit 100% of the money raised from this auction will go to Toys for Tots, and I’ll even cover the shipping. So be your own angel astartes to the children in need this season and place a bid today!

For us who don't want or need a top turret on top of out sponsons have you cosidered a cap piece? I like the look of the converted "fellblades" more in all honesty.

Here's the list:

Plasma Eliminator in main turret
Executioner Plasma cannon in hull
Twin-linked Plasma Cannon on hull turret
Twin-linked plasma blasters and one plasma storm burst in sponsons

Now, what are all of these plasma weapons? Rules are coming my friends

Something similar to this will be coming but no this one. I didn't like how the design stuck out so far out from it mount. You'll also be happy to know the top and bottom are reversible so you can have it with or without a top turret

Well I'm back and just in time for another Toys for Tots project!

This time around I will be tackling a super-heavy for the Space Wolves once again based on the Baneblade kit, a number of my own specialty parts, some plasticard and more bits than you can shake a stick at (Go fetch Russ! Woof! Woof!).

First up is the turret and main weapon, currently called the Helfrost Annihilator. This was basically made from two of the main cannons from the Stormfang kit mounted side by side on one of my Heavy Tank Turrets with a bit of plasticard in between. I also used some of the helfrost cannons in the small hull turret up front.

The track sections are using my Oppressor Pattern 1.0 Tank Tracks (seemingly appropriate for the Space Wolves) along with a bunch of bits from the SW kits, Forge World and plasticard.

Once again this beast will be painted by our good friend Tommy Clark “Munkey Joe” and will go to auction on eBay in December with 100% of the winning bid going to Toys for Tots!

Help support a good cause!

Hey, I think I saw your stuff on ebay, and I finally put the two and two together and checked this thread. Now that you've replied, I won't be afraid of the Necro either.

I have a question. Can you take a single widowmaker cannon and place it into the groove on the light turrets? I am curious as I want some gun emplacements for my Fortress I am building but, I don't want to go bankrupt either...

(You'd be rich though, so I guess someone wins... )

Also, if I PM you a few questions would you be interested in answering them? I have a lot of conversions for my army involving howitzer style conversions, so those widowmaker cannons yet again interest me. Glad to see you're doing this for a good cause, and your tanks still make me drool like mad.

Yes you could mount the Widowmaker cannon to the Light Turret but it would look very odd given that the Widowmaker is bigger than the turret How big of a cannon/turret system are you looking for? I was planning to make a smaller cannon for the Light Turret. But if you want to keep the size of the Widowmaker take a look at my Medium Tank Turret.

I'd be glad to answer and questions. Just shoot me a PM.

Unrelated but, do your sponsons normally go for 16$, or is it due to the refresh phase? (Either way I understand, supply and demand laws, or if that's not the case the sheer work involved.)

Also my first PM didn't go through but, I think I got it to work. Just feel bad for finding a third, (fourth?) outlet of places to buy 60$ worth of bits from.

Zinge, Anvil and now Mach are going to eat my stock market money and my children's savings at this rate.

Thanks for the order!

Can you post some pics of what you're doing? I won't think a RT Rhino could be extended into a Spartan But if the vehicle will be about Land Raider in size and is Imperial I'd recommend the Liberator Pattern 0 Tank Treads:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Liberator-Pattern-0-Tank-Treads-40-/251466338701?pt=Games_US&hash=item3a8c8fd18d

You'll probably need about three sets to wrap all the way around.

Great looking and truly menacing tank there! REALLY like the little round sponsons...... I am scratch building a Macharius "MK1" currently... (actually I just ordered a set of your Liberator 1.0 tracks last week, cant wait for them to arrive)..... but think those sponsons might fit the bill also.... firstly, I need to decide if I am going to have sponsons at all or go without them..... hmmm.. anyway..... Really nice tanks and definetly gives off the aggressive and Wolf feel!

Thanks!

I also have these sponsons if you want to have a taller look. They are also magnetize-able and can fit the sponson weapons from the Land Raider kits including the flamestorm cannon and the hurricane bolters:

a question on the type of resin you use. I have been here a lot of people talking about you must need a vacuum chamber for bubbleless casting result, but with the type of resin I use, I don't seem to have that and i don't use vacuum chamber. I wonder if you have the same issue with your resin cast, bubble I mean? Cause i can see you are using this white type of resin which is probably the same stuff that I am using. I guess the thing I want to clarify to myself is whether vacuum chamber is a must? I know professional use it, but is it a must? cause there are a lot of low viscosity resin out there these days, so why can't people use it more often? is is because it is more expensive? I am not ranting, but I am trying to understand the world of resin and casters, and also to give myself a more peaceful mind.
thanks for anyone that can enlighten me.
