Nice work, I used ice lolly sticks for scenery too, makes excellent planks...
just wish I had a hobbycraft near me, then I might actually get my trench done
and i think the answer is no.... except for poor people....
But the easy way would be to paint it in a light grey and say your guys jumped out of a *Malal equivalent* thunderhawk and thats the concrete crater from the impact.
Oh, well, the exalt button is working now! exalt this thread all you want
Edit: Found a rare material called Nallwood. It is rare because it comes from the destroyed planet of Tanith, maybe these guys destroyed a place with this stuff in it?
Yes Speaking of models, I hope SoB get plastics.
Why? a. I plan to start SoB (Actually, I has planning of doing a WH/DH/IG ally army back before I had the idea of doing chaos, had a change of heart when I found out they were all metal)
b. Most importantly, I want to add SoB body parts to my bases!
Ok, for those that don't (or can't) download/open the doc, I give you this!

YAY!
the fluff all seems to make sense, none of it clashing with original stuff, and you've kept the door open to more fleshing out/continuing with fateweaver's prophesies, while not giving away any specific dates as this might not happen in the fluff. So no wrongdoings that I can see
You all remember the plasma gun from pg 2 & 3?
Well I need to strip it.
i've painted that plasma so many times that the detail isn't showing.
But I don't want to reck the rest of the gun...
Any suggestions on how I could do this + a stripping method?
Well, gave him a bigger base, THEN saw the way his cloak moved and thought "Instead of summoning a monster, maybe he is mid-way between a pychic power/spell"
So, he is making a storm, of FIRE
A WHIRLWIND OF FIRE
(Note: It is not real modeling putty, its blu-tac as this is just a test!)
you would have all noticed that I haven't been posting, well that there is because at the mo my internet is dropping in and out, so it is very unreliable.
Now, I may have spoke about entering a painting comp at my FLGS (which most of you should no by now is GW)
Well, the Aspiring Champ's base is drying (i.e. PVA glue)
Icon Bearer's Badab Black wash is drying, slowly...
and I have less that 40min remaining until I upload (just to make sure I don't miss out because the upload takes too long....)
well while my internet's down I'll try to start painting it
EDIT: Fluff:
Sorcerer Ma'Klar, once Primaris Psyker Jarren, was one of the Imperium's heroes. He slew many of Mankind's worst enemies. When Munin lead his entire Chaos Marine army, though, he was one of the first to turn.
It is said that his time ended when Wedge Talon, now the Chapter Master of the Hunter Eagles, tore his body apart. It is unknown what happened then and there, but it seems his body turned into psychic energy.
The worst task an assassin can be tasked for is to kill this mad-man, as after the blade or bulet pierces his armour, his psychic mass breaks free and burns them with it's firey energies.
In short, this being could be called one of the biggest threats to the Imperium, espeacially since he can possess the bodies of the dead...
This is a really good blog I've been following but not posting for awhile. The flame Sorcerer is awesome and I really like the colouring of your Chaos marines.
Oh, I forgot to mention, in 3 (and 2/3s) days time, I'm on holiday!
And since (as usual) I'm not going anywhere, I'll have loads of time to paint/build/base!
And I'm getting some plasticard as well, primarilly for my ever-growing orks, but I might be able to spare some for the chaos space marines
Matt.Kingsley wrote:Now then, should I have melta havocs in a rhino or multi-melta havocs and uese the rhino for one of my other squads?
Melta Havoc's can easily be replaced by Melta Chosen, here is a squad;
140PTS
5 Chosen
-5 Melta Guns 50pts
You can have five Marines with Melta-Guns for a slightly higher price than only four, also you could give them 5 Plasma Guns and infiltrate them or just infiltrate them with Melta's and destroy vehicles from behind.
You, sir, are evil!
But so true!
A LONG while ago, I was thinking 'Flamer Chosen, hmmm'
But Melta Chosen, HELL YES!
Frees up room for oblits (Dark Techmarine and Pretorians (?) (MASSIVE servitors! (link to a page about these things a few pages ago)), Preds and other stuff.
Oblitirators have their cons and pros over Havoc's
Pros -Loads of Guns
-Tough
-Deepstrike
-Invulnerable Save
-Access to Plasma and Melta Cannons
-Two Wounds
Cons -Far more Expensive
-Havoc's can have meat shield members to stop losing Heavy Weapons
-Icons
-Rhinos
remember that the best combo of weapons for a chosen squad is 2* melta 2* flamer 1* plasma inside a rhino, this makes a multi purpose squad that can eliminate anything that gets put in its way. If you have the points chuck extra armour and a havok on the rhino, makes a 200 point squad that kicks ass, additionally taking them in a rhino means that you can outflank, this means bringing them in late game often exactly where you need them to cause maximum damage.
the oblits are efficient but remember a s8+ ap2+ shot (like a melta) can kill an oblit in one go, this means that you loose 75 pts instead of the 15 were it a havok, statistically havoks are better,
although i say take nierther and take a predator with heavy bolter sponsons autocannon turret , havok launcher and extra armour instead. This gives you a powerful tank that eats through infantry, and is especially potent agains tthe likes of tau where you are wounding on twos and ignoreing armour, if your looking for a tankhunting role simply switch the turret and sponsons for lascannons, still a fairly cheap tank at 185 (from memory) and still kicks butt, the dakka variant is 130
Ive been playing these setups for quite some time and IMO the best way to run chaos is with a mixture of LAV's and havok launchers backed up by long ranged pie plates/anti tank weapons, all of this supported by a strong infantry core.
I have no idea why, a 48" range twin linked s5 ap5 minipie plate is certainly worth it to me. Especially for 15 points. And when i can take 12 of them in one army i begin to end up having tau shooting phases
Wait! I've figured it out!
1. Not defensive-No move and shoot it + twin-linked bolter
2. Twin-linked blasts are prone to getting bad re-rolls, increasing the distance away from the intended target
Fellshrieks. While not as common a sight as fellthings and fellbeasts, and not as notorious as fellbats, they remain a terrifying prospect for anyone who faces the Fellmaster's legions.
Fellshrieks are know for one thing; their loud screeching. Not only that, but their extremely annoying voice and their violent twitching. While, genetically, they should be able to run at high speeds, their abnormal twitching prohibits them from doing so as it cause them to trip.
Fellshrieks use the deadly technology know as 'Screech Weapons'...
huh, to me slaanesh's gifts are all about bliss and perfection. the image of a warrior so calm and composed that he almost floats through his enemies with lightning quick motions and reflexes
I have, to me that signifies a need for extasy and a slight numbing of senses, but that in turn translates into extreme reflexes and skill. In fact I would go as far to say that the marines would actually gain a type of grace about them as they fought, rather than the "Twitching" you describe, however this is no issue as everyone is quite welcome to make thier own mind up as to fluff in my opinion. I just like the more... "Perfect" marines
Fellshrieks use the deadly technology know as 'Screech Weapons'. Screech weapons use a fellshriek's screech and amplifies it into a loud and leathal sound.
The two most common screech weapons are the shriek-blaster and the screech-master.
Shriek-Blasters only have one mode of fire, but this mode allows the wielder to determine how long the screech will go for. If the screech is stretched out real long while on the move, the owner is likely to kill them self as they run into the deathly vibrations the weapon emits. Fellshrieks, having a very basic level of intellegence, have learnt this the hard way.
Screech-Masters, on the other hand, have two seperate firing modes. The first is fairly similar to the shriek-blaster, but has a set time limit to the sonic attack. The second mode uses a sphere that represtents the tip of a mortar shell. This device is caled a scheech-emiter. Inside it contains an amplifier, a speaker and a recording device, much like both the screech weapons them-selves. Depending on what Mk of screech-master it is, the exact way it works will be different...
That's all the fluff on their weapons at the moment, but I'll probably be making a sketch for various Mks of them later.
Ok, battleforce will be being shipped to here soon!
I'e been working on the prototypes, too, but they don't have the right look yet...
I may need to wait for more bits
Sorry they weren't here earlier, but the only computer that I can use to upload pics has been extensively used by my parents, leaving me unable to post pics, but instead veiw dakka!
Enough chat, here they are!
Edit: The Fellbat is top heavy, and, let's say, started to lean backwards when I took the photo
Word of advice when using noise marines, they are only good at their maximum range, if you let anyone get to close to them then they can struggle, keep them at arms length from your enemies and you should be good, take full advantage of the range and firepower they can bring, make use of the blast master's pinning as well, make sure its the last thing you fire, that way you can take advantage of any other leadership effects you may have hit your foes with.
Hey Marta! I didn't know you were a fellow CSM player until I checked out which threads you had subscirbed to.
There is some really cool stuff here and awesome conversions, Matt, I really like the forgotten. That Chaos Sorcerer is really cool and the idea for the Fellbats is intriguing. I'll have to plough through this entire blog over time.
I also really like those capes and that custom back pack which you put on one of the marines (the plasma pistol for vents is really cool).
and lol, im glad someone noticed, thats my counts as doom siren for the champ if I ever want to use it for him. If I had more sonic blasters these guys would probably have them. Also I would like to point out the swords that some of them use. They are close combat weapons from the khorne beserker sprue which took a LOOOONG time to pose.
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my plog a few days ago! This thread is great! So much creative modelling and blossoming ideas! Looking forward to seeing alot more here! Take care
Nice work!
I see you've joined waagh! Dakka... shame you didn't join my mob, but hey, it's your loss that you didn't follow the snazziest nob in the waagh

Tyranic Marta wrote:Looking good, that tank commander needs some pauldrons tho.
I know, haven't decided on which ones to give him (there are so many ways... Darn battleforce having so many different designs of them...)
My reccomendation is to give each and every single model a plain undecorated right pad and a molded left pad, and on the right pad use a color that contrasts witht he rest of your scheme and then with either white or black whichever works better carefully paint a customized emblem, it doenst have to be anything fancy, but a simple thing like that really ties your army together.
It's HAILING!!!
(And in QLD, that's rare, the last time it hailed I was, what? 4/6?)

And apparently they are releasing a new hero, the TAU COMMANDER!
EDIT: and I've been officially banned from playing games on school days :(
Why? because my parents get angry at me for playing with my friend online, and for not knowing how to exit The Last Standalone (which I now know how to do...)
Oh, and I've been told to get off the computer, so no updates today... cruel parents... >.<
Same Tho I've also used the mek and lord general
But sorce is my highest level I run the doombolt/ring of blood/curse/doppleganger+ combo, real OP compared to most my allies...
The 5 man unit (which, in the space of 1 day have been nicknamed 'The Suicide Squad', 'The Jackson 5' and 'The Famous 5' (after a book series by Enid Blyton))
Sorry Prince of Pleasure, but the Master of Chaos needs the icon more
The whole reason I used the Slaanesh icon is because it is the only other workable icon (in terms of transforming to icon of CG) besides khorne, which I've already used, and the actual icon of CG, which I have used to make another unique icon
oh and just a side note for those of you who who are still following how my army is doing, I recently got a plastic daemon prince and he is about 50% converted with his legs nearly done Lucian Icefang the corrupted daemonprince of the Wulven guard is nearly complete
Shameless plug much
But I don't mind Anyway, I've made a mobile modeling station, because today, I'M ON THE ROAD (for a while, anyway , don't worry I'll be back before the day ends)
Ok, ok, almost been 48 hours...
shame on me...

and I'm doing something 40K related for art Every term it was the same-old paint-on-canvas, this term, multi-media

more of that coming soon on the ork blog (I'll try and take it home every day)
I like the dynamic on the running marine, although he looks a tad mismatched, in future perhaps have him wielding the melta one handed? to do that you can have a bolt pistol hand and gently snip of the bolt pistol, three snips should do, and thenglue the gun on as normal. Then you could have a close combat hand for his left raised above him or dropped back, just to add some more dynamic. Otherwise fantastic!!
Interesting....have you ever considered one handed Bolters? Like Marta said, its more dramatic and adds far more character to the model. I've used it for most of my marines, also I'd suggest using bitz from all Space Marine and Chaos marine chapters. My Chaos marine squads have some Blood Angel and Space Wolf parts mixed in with them to give more character, the back-story is they steal parts as 'trophy's' to imitate their foe showing that they have defeated even the Imperiums greatest Space Marines.
I do play, but on a friends account. I dont actually own the game, sos mate. Although my computer is getting an upgrade at christmas, so i will actually be able to run it (got it for my birthday this year, core, redemption and rising, but unfortunatley my computer cant run any of them ;()
So you shall all see me on there soon.
And sorry matty, missed the guy in the middle, otherwise looking great as always.

Well, that was fun yesterday at GW,
played some DREADFLEET, played a game where you had to get to a Valk before being killed by zombies (and dead 'allies' turn into zombies...)
discussed 'crons (mainly guessing rules/possible conversions) and tested out a 1000pt CSM army
God the Fellmaster is powerful, he (and the raptors with 22 flamers and champ with twin claws) defeated Calgar, 33 honour guard, chapter champion AND chaplain
sure, his squad died, but he lived! (no even a single wound )
I'll get pics of him later
