I've been here over a month now (touched down on July 2nd) Da Dark Angelz aren't due until September (hence why not much activity from me at the moment )
I think any of those sample welds would work out great. Looks like you need place down little balls of GS and smush them down one at a time overlapping the previous (or just push down with something small and spherical in the messier case). There's probably a faster way though...
Ah cool, hope you enjoy it out there, and i tryed the gs ball thing this morning and i couldnt get it to work how i wanted it too :( but i have found another way anyway, thanks though
Matt.Kingsley wrote:Ah, nice plan!
thanks
HAZZER wrote:Do the messy weldings they look more orky!!!
but they are haaaard! (i tryed earlyer and i made welds that are kinda messy, pics up when gs drys)
OOOK so i drew up a sketch of what i am thinking about doing for the right arm of this thing and i just wanted to get some feedback on what people thought.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WANT TO DO FOR THE OTHER ARM YET JUST SO PEOPLE KNOW AND SURGESTIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED....
^ this is just so people see it, im not shouting.
so im thinking saw arm with daka on it pointing wherethe mek is looking but kinda casually. I want the whole model to be fairly at rest as i don't think it would fit in with the meks face if i had the arms swinging an axe or shooting thousands of bullets or something. but yeah as i said i am not sure what to do with the other arm, i also don't know what i want to run this as or even if i want to have it fit in with the game at all... so yeah any surgestions on this front would be cool.
Also as i siad i have finished gs the weld lines and am just wainting for them to dry befor pics, so i will talk about them later.
ANYWAY thanks for looking and comments and stuff would be great

I like your sketch bigfish, Make sure to magnetize like a good mek. Also I would love to see you put a shunta or big-zzappa on the other arm.

But magnets are long and i would have to buy theeeem :( (i will though, as it is something worth doing and would make the whole weapon changing a very nice adition to the model, thanks )
and i think if i go with magnets then i might do a few variations

Well it would'nt look good without some big guns would it, im toying with the idea of having a killkannon, a shunta and a big zappa, and having them all magnatized
anyway pics, hav'nt been able to take pices of the big mek dread as it is still in the shop but soon it will be able to stand on its own (as long as the glue holds)

Lol at the termie getting crushed. I like the model a lot, it has a lot of character, and the way the body is "moving" looks right. The weld lines look good, but they may be a tad bit too large. I can't tell if this is actually the case, or if it's just from the pics being close, and it actually looks fine on the model irl. Either way even if they are a little big they'll more than likely look great and not stand out that way when it's painted. They stand out a lot more right now since they're bright green

Like where you're going with this bigfish
Welds'll be fine - the ones round the smoke-stacks look a little large, but not so much that they detract from the model. Don't forget it can be hard to get weld lines even and burn those annoying grots at the same time

Thanks and well i am hoping the weld lines won't stick out that much when the model is done but if they do, then i could always cut them off and redo them.

UPDATE
so i had a rush of meky energy this morning.
So first things first, i have decided not to go with the giant saw. This being because i don't have a large amount of plasticard left and i had the bits for a claw lyeing around (on other stuff) so i just thought it would be more efficiant to rycycle the bits.
secoundly i made a mini gun thing. what can i say everyone has being doing it of late so it has been on my mind. Not sure i like it as a shoulder mount or even if i will use it on this model at all (anti ait power being so important and all) but yeah tell me what you think of it?
ok so the claw. I was wanting to do a whole hand and am still thinking about it but i could'nt work out where the thumb would go and how it whould actually crush stuff. that and it might have been a bit too bulky ( even by ork standards) for the rest of the model. but we will see.
so i am wanting the termi to look like it is being crushed into a mound of dirt so i am trying to build it up around him slowly, after that i am going to add mud to the bottom of the boot too cover up the gs work and also to add some realness to the model.
Anyway thanks for looking and comments are always appreciated (unless they are spam >.& gt
thanks

Niether can i but 28 boys is going to take ages to paint and convert :/, but oh well. and yeah thats the plan
Also and update
I GOT ANOTHER 31 BOYS, although these ones are not in as good condition as the last bunch. Although because inferiour glue was used they were easy enough to dismantle. also got a bunch of weapons with them including some RT plasma cannons
and a little something else
20 bolters came along cheap so i thought i would get the and make 20 marine looting orks. Anyway will come back with boys progress in the new year.

anyway since im not sure if skhank is still on daka i have made a pain boy to get me through untill he gets back to me with out trade.
He still needs green stuffing over some of the joints but im pretty happy with him (although he is quite small). The whole urty siringe thing is represented by the stabby injector and the barrel of fightin juice on his back. but anyway i like him and i think it keeps in with the meky theme of my characters so yeah, all good.

SO the idea with the painboy is that because it is a big mek deathskull warband at the core there would be more (stolen) bionics and (stolen) cool gadgets for him to use compared to a goff warband painboy. so yeah thats why he is so meky for a painboy
and since i have a painboy i wanted a unit of boys to go with him (not in the game but just for gaks) i thoght it would be pretty cool for this unit just to be made up of whoever the doc was treating at the time. So the boys are all in various stages of "repair" anyway
pics
EVERY BOY IS CONVERTED IN SOME WAY AND BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM I AM NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH EACH ONE SO IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOK, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGUARDING A PRTICULAR ONE DO ASK THOUGH, AS ALTHOUGH THESE ARE CAPITAL LETTERS I AM NOT SHOUTING, THEY ARE JUST EASYER TO SEE...
Now the ones i like best

EVERYTHING WILL BE GREEN STUFFED INCLUDING THE PAINBOY/ GROTSINK GUY

UPDATE (of sorts)
Hello everyone, just finished the first year of my degree (woo) and im now moving house so lots of boxing of warhammery stuffs but yeah, should be back properly soonish since i am back at my old house on the 20th
picked this up online a few days ago for a decent price and have since been looking for another one as well, originally i was looking at getting 2 of the actually battle wagon kits but i lost a bid and got this as a consolation prize. Still i cant decide on wheather i should now pick up another land raider to convert or weather to keep looking for a ork battle wagon (im still going to convert some stuff on it regaurdless)
SO SHOULD I
BUY A SPACE MARINE LANDRAIDER
OR
BUY A ORK BATTLE WAGON
to use in my force. (considering i now have 3 raiders all converted to be battle wagons)
(im also considering just buying the tracks of the raider and working from that as a base with a mass of scratch building)
ANYWAY thank you for looking
(and the caplocks are just so peeps skim reading have something that stands out as tbh i am more of a picture person and not sure i would be interested in the text unless it had the standing out bits (just imo))
thanks

Buy something from a different faction to loot. Not mauny people use Hammerheads for battlewagons, though they can work well- Looted Monoliths are always neat, and these days you could possibly get a pretty awesome Wagon from looting a Necron Barge of some kind.
If you do get the LR, buy a Chaos one- same price, mostly the same weapons, and more spikey bits and skulls, which are almost as useful to Orks as they are to Chaos.
26790
Post by: Gitsplitta
That's actually a pretty cool conversion as it stands.

I will have to say the landraider is a great conversion to use. That said, I think a theme should be used for their conversion. Many do get out of hand and over flamboyant.
It is also better on table top because you have a longer front 14 to use. Which is big, because the current Ork battle wagon is very thin, and has a hard time keeping that front arc up.

Hello,
Ive been working in the damaged landraider i got for a while now but my laptop died so have been unable to update on progress untill now. (im going to awnser comments after this bit because it will get confusing the other way around and i might repeat myself)
So, ive been a fan of the battle fortress model from forgeworld and a bigger fan for the old rules (in the imperial armour 9 book) allowing you to do a custom one of your own.
Now i always liked the idea of having 3 super kannons but i dont know if in the new edition you can use the imperial armour 9 stuff any more so, if i build one with 3 super kannons will i be able to play the 3 super kannons in a game? (im planning on building other options for it as well but it would help if i knew this now tbh)
If anyone know it would be a great help to me
Thanks

Im not super sure about what exsactly i would do with a monolith tbh, i think it would be quite a challenge to try to reinvent one as an ork vehihcle and make it something that is'nt a floating box with ork bits. I think its something to keep in mind but im not totally sure. I think a hammer head or skyray would be quite a cool base as well but at that point again as with the monolith it becomes a problem of track or no tracks and if tracks, scratch or off something else. I do think a hammer head is appealing to me the most at the moment though mainly because after playing with the ion cannon thing on the battle fortress at the mo it is a really really cool gun.
Also as a note im not going to be picking up anything that is'nt second hand and im not really wanting to pay full price for it so if i did go the landraider route again i would just be picking up whatever was cheaper really and the spike it up after regardless.
SelvaggioSaky wrote:Go for the scratchbuild one!

Thanks SelvaggioSaky, i would but i am quite found of landraiders in gameplay (or was) and if i scratch built one to play games with i would't be able to use it in games at the shops :L so as much as this is an option, building up from an exsisting model i think is the best route here.
and cormadepanda i could'nt agree more as with regard to the theme thing, i have been toying with the idea of 20 man units based around a theme and having a wagon based around one of these units would be pretty cool. And i could'nt agree more with the front armour thing but i dont want to be acused of modeling to advantage..... but i will be having something with a bigger then average front section.

SO
i had another game or half game today (pics below) and found out about a chaos god i didn't know anything about. did some research and it seems like it could be a really cool option for my chaos army.
"Malal, also now called Malice, is a renegadeChaos God and the Hierarch of Anarchy and Terror who appeared in early editions of the fictional universes of Warhammer Fantasyand Warhammer 40,000. Also known as "The Outcast God", "The Lost God" and "The Renegade God", Malal was the embodiment of Chaos' indiscriminate and anarchic tendency toward destruction, even of itself and its own agents. The nature of Malal's/Malice's powers is parasitic, as the Renegade God grows in power only when the other Ruinous Powers do. Malal's sacred number is 11 and his sacred colours are black and white.
The Renegade God
There is a name whispered quietly and with fear even by the most depraved, the most evil, and the least sane of the worshippers of Chaos. That name is Malal, the Renegade God of Chaos. Any man who dares look within the unholy black pages of The Great Book of Despair, that foul tome held sacred by worshippers of Chaos, would find the following words: "...and he that went before now came last, and that which was white and black and all direction was thrown against itself. Grown mightily indignant at the words of the Gods, Malal did turn his heart against them and flee into the chambers of space . . . And no man looked to Malal then, save those that serve that which they hate, who smile upon their misfortune, and who bear no love save for the damned. At such times as a warrior's heart turns to Malal, all Gods of Chaos grow fearful, and the laughter of the Outcast God fills the tomb of space . . ."
In eons past Malal was cast out from the bosom of Chaos by the other Gods, or else abandoned them of his own volition, no one is sure which. In any case, Malal's relationship to the other Gods of Chaos is a strange one. All Gods of Chaos pursue purposes that are wholly their own, yet only Malal occupies a position so antithetical to the success of his own unfathomable creed. To be a follower of Malal is to be a Chaotic warrior bent upon shedding the blood of other Chaotic creatures. As such, Malal is both feared and hated by the other Chaos Gods. Malal's worshippers, too, are loathed by other Chaotics; they are outcasts beloved by neither the friends nor enemies of Chaos, dependent upon the least whim of their patron deity. Few men worship such a God; fewer still live long in his service. The bonds that tie master and servant ever drain upon the soul of the warrior, and it is a rare man that can loosen the bonds of Malal once forged."
seems to fit quite well with the army ive got so far, since its all beasts and monsters and no mark specifics. also ive inadvertently done black armour on the dragon ogres and my main dragon is white... so yeah. (seems i might be under Malal's influence.
Anyway pics from the latest battle below. The nurgle force is a friend of mines, great looking collection, might put up some better shots in the near future (unless i can convince him to join daka, in which case he can do it)
Thanks for looking

Post by: bigfish
SO,
i've always liked dragons and ive always liked dragon ogres, so im making an army entirely of them
This is going to be my new Galrauch conversion (going to use the white dragon as a zombie dragon from vampire counts as the profile seems to fit quite well)
[url=http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/763455-.html]
Since i was last here i finished a dragon ogre shaggoth conversion
(which im pretty happy with, the standard model is kinda weedy, with no armour and a small axe. so i bulked him out a bit giving him a chest plate and shoulder pads as well as a helmet. pretty happy with th base too which i kinda wanted to look like warpstone)
So once i finished the first dragon ogre shaggoth i figured i would try my hand at scratch building/kit bashing one of my own. Wasn't really impressed with the amount of muscle or mass on the standard kit so ive tryed to make mine quite a lot bulkier but still in scale with the standard model.
Custom Dragon Ogre Shaggoth
So obviously not finished yet, need to go over the toes and fingers of the dragon half as well as do some more work on the giant axe. pretty happy with it t the moment though.
So im kinda looking a this as a new force, and separating my beastmen and dragon ogres armys into two.
Chaos from the forest and Chaos from the mountains
might try and keep a loose malal worshipping theme going through with little hints in the paint scheme etc, but im undecided atm.
Anyway thanks for looking
