That's obviously the hot plate for keeping the pizza hot whilst delivering.
I actually liked the look of the old Bad Moon schemes, but these colours are a better fit with the other vehicles.
As Arakasi said, if you're looking to portray stuff da boyz have looted and quickly swabbed blue to hide the source then you've nailed it, if you want to show koptas that have had care and attention lavished on them (in an orky sense of things ) more layers. I think the white could probably do with another layer regardless, but as the others pointed out, what aren't you liking about them? What look were you wanting?

Arakasi wrote:What are you unhappy about? It may give us some idea of what to suggest...
It looks to me that more coats of thinned paint to block out the colours better is in order - but I'd hate to suggest that if that was the effect you were after!
honestly i am totally unsure of the effect i am aiming for with these. i have kinda done them in the same style as the other ork vehicles but less bright. i Think my main thing is on the 2 with windows i am just unsure about the green, like does it look like window or does it look like green.
oh and when you say "It looks to me that more coats of thinned paint to block out the colours better is in order" you mean washes right like of black and beastril brown?
Moltar wrote:I feel like the first and third one could use some checkers on the wings. However, I'm confused, because I don't know what that slice of pepperoni is doing on the front of the third one.
I agree with Arakasi, knowing what you're unhappy with would help us make suggestions for you.
hmmmm pepperoni lol, well it is a shield from the wahmmer kits and it is the face from the cult of speed. but i am seeing the resembelence to peporoni there so maybe some blue is in order to make it have less meaty snack qualitys.
and i think my main thing is the windows and really the design as a whole. I think it is because i am trying to do an orky scheme on something that is streamlined and at its foundation and not very orky.
that said i am liking the checkers idea you surgested so i will try that out tomorrow.

"i think my main this is the windows and really the design as a whole"
it is really just the design at the moment and the windows. design wise i am sort of thinking they might look a little plain really and i am not sure how i can make them look less plain (i am going to add checkers though and see how that goes) but those are my main gripes.
thanks for the responses

I think they are awesome as is, if I had to say something, I would suggest something crazy, like, cut out the windowed tops on the other two and put orks in them as well. The ork that is in the front one just makes the model retty f*n Cool and that addition, though I don't know how you would accomplish it, would sell the other two pretty solidly. Paint job in itself is cool and don't think it needs anything. Really though, they are fine as is, original and perfectly kustom.

You know the only reason why i did'nt do that in the first place is i have run out of ork boy bodys and torsos, so it would have been quite hard to make them. and thanks you for your kind words
oks, so i m feeling a lot better about the deffkopters now as i have made some smll changes and added some paint. pics below
ok so i added the checks on the wings and some other bits and i also added the lighter green streak on the glass. i am rather liking them now really so i would be happy to leave them here and move on to the next unit (lootaz) but if anyone has any surgestions please say them.
Lootaz
5 of them are kustom the the other 2 are pretty much stock, i have really just started to get base colours down with these models and i am going to paint them in a similar way to the other ones i have done.
below are my two fav ones. one is sorta monkeytroll inspired and the other i made a while ago and i like the way he is about to please what will be a big red button.
anyway, thanks for looking and all comments are appreciated

Ok so i may have forgotten to mention i was going away (being dragged away) on a camping holiday in dorset (has some epic skate parks as it turns out ) so that is why i have not been posting at all. but the good news is i am coming back soon and my ebay stuff should be waiting for me when i get back home so there shall be new orky stuff coming together (yay). Although on a serious note, i said i would be entering a ruzzbot into matts super heavie blah blah blah competition right. well for a while now i have really now been feeling the plans i have in my head and on paper and i am really tempted jut to use the bits to make a battle fortress that can be have parts taken away so it can be a counts as battlewagon in smaller games and in apoc a battle fortress with 3 super kannons and a shed load of other gunz. what are peoples thoughts on this? should i make a ruzz bot or a battle fortress? Replys would be great as i am quite torn between the two, thanks Automatically Appended Next Post: oooohhhhh yea, before i left for this trip i started some work on the 19 slugga boyz from the black reach set . i decided the best way to do them was to have the squad adorned with throphys from defeated enimies. i figured that the orks would be carrying these at all times untill sold so they would'nt be looted from them, but when the boyz charge into battle they would be overcome by the waaarghyness and just drop there scrap and loot to better get into the fight. Therefore this boyz unit is particually customed and i have made 6 tyranid stealas, 6 marine stealas and then 7 that are just theifs in general. The general lootas are inspired by a bit of fluff i remember reading that got me into deathskullz in the first place "deathskullz are theifs without equal, a deathskull could steal your shoe laces from you while you where wearing your shoes, and then strangle you with those laces" anyway sorry for posting a lot of text, model pictures soon

Ruzzbot's are basically a tank hull with a mini-stompa/Big ol' Dredd torso stuck on top.
And personally, I'd love to see a Ruzzbot. Used to be a lot more Orky konvertin' stuff around, nice to see this contest re-igniting that Meky spirit.

Post by: monkeytroll
Well, basically what you need to do is create a battle-fortress using your BW chassis and a leman russ chassis. When you take the parts off to reveal the battle-wagon, some of the bits you've taken off form the ruzz-bot. Problem solved, everyone's a winner

deffkoptas came out pimp with the touch-up paint job, amazing what painting can do. *Looks at unpainted models...sighs*
Anyways, Lootas look cool grouped together, really like the one with the wheel, a freakin wheel, yeah. Something else...
Of course, um, I want to say Battlefortress because that first guys post put it in my head, but the ruzzbot sounds cool, and finally monkeytroll has me sold that I should be safe and suggest you do both.
Ruzzbot if I have to, what does a ruzzbot look like...I could goole it or search dakka...or...wait for you to build it.

ahh but that would take some planning and that borders on "hummie thinkin" and i ain't no blood axe (deathskullz for the win )
but i will think about it, i have and had been playing with that idea for a while and it would be very cool if i could get it to work
+1 battlefortress/ ruzzbot

hmmm is that a +1 russbot then? (i am counting it as that).
really though the only reason i have bee doing a lot of painting is because my scheme is fairly easy and i have the time, so meh. thanks on the lootas front as well.
Quite a lot of feed back there which is always nice to see. so by my count that is
3+ battle fortress and 3+ ruzzbot... ( now i have to decide)
well i am going to look more into planning the ruzzbot battlewagon convert and as well as that start thinking about super kannon lenths and barrel sizes. But unfortunatly after 2 weeks my ebay stuff still has not arrived, which really is quite ridiculas to the point where someone is going to be getting a annoying email, but anyway worst comes to worst i will just go and get it my self ( )
so i have'nt actually said what i am getting from ebay yet have i? (no)
i have bought a landraider that has TBH really badly orkyfied. Although i intend on stripping it down to the basic hull and tracks anyway so that is not really that much of a problem. but yes i am going to use that as the base and then work onto it from there adding kannons and armour and orkys stuffs.
But anyway onto pictures
marine lootaz
scrap steala's
Nid break'as
And that is that. Quite a large update today but i think quite well rounded. anyway's i have also based the deffkopters but i cannot be asked to take the pictures and put them up now because i am shattered from the car jouney back from dorset.
so thanks for reading and commenting on my stuffs, really helps to keep me motivated to do and make more.

and on the picture front i will have to take some when i have painted some colour on them as i can never get enough light on them to show the detail when it is chaos blacked.

talking of the deffkopeters, they all fell off a table and scared the out of me. but the good news is that although it looked horrible only one of them was in need of repair
but it is ok i fixed everything apart from the flying base... which broke at the top bit that fits into the hole under the kopta... very annoying. but alas i have'nt had a lot of time for painting of late and it will be a while untill i do as i am starting the next stage of my education and working so not so much will be getting done. sad times for orkses.

indeed, the deffkopter that did break is actually being a pain in the ars now because the bit that came off just wont stay on and surport the weight of the kopter on it, so i am going to have to super glue it or plastic glue the hell out of it just to get it to stay on. :(

More Paint! But on trying to decide which SM colors to use try looking here for ideas. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters . I find the multi color scheme are more fun to paint.
I would go with a quartered or halved scheme.
But when you do decide let me know. Gonna be fun to see what you do with them.
This could be fun. Novamarines. Blue and Bone quartered.

so i took these before i went away and before i got the message from schank
and thats how they are today now. good thing is though that on my holiday i came across a squad of ork boyz in a toy shop for £15 so i snapped them up straight away. so be expecting some new boyz at some point.

Well you know how orks breed via spores? If you keep a single sprue for long enough in just the right conditions...they'll breed.
Of course, it's very fething tricky to get just the right conditions, and asking how long 'long enough' is, well, that's a bit like asking how much dakka is enough. Otherwise we'd never have to give GW any teef again. But occasionally, you'll find they've spread. A bit like slower breeding tribbles, just greener. And bigger. Generally angrier too. Quite often armed as well. But not all that hairy. Probably not the best comparison

If you've not got a macro function on your camera try taking the individual shots from a little further away, then cropping the image. If that's a little small, maybe two boyz at a time.

so its that time of the month (day) again where i feel the need to update everyone
battle fortress progress and some thinking
just to prove it is detachable and moveable

still need to ruff up the gun pannels yet just so everyone knows and i also added some more armour here and there just because.
so i have been thinking and looking on the web for other battle fortresses to see what other people have done to make them and well i am feeling mine is a tad small now. i was looking at one today made from 3 landraiders a battle wagon and a baneblade with loads of other stuff all over it as well..... and i was just
so i have decided if anyone ever says anything about my battle fortress being small i shall explain that my orks use it more as a wepons platform and therefor dont need it to be big enough for anything more then carrying and moving the gunz (and of course dakaring the gunz )
so yea anyway comments are always great and advice and oppinions are also good
thanks for dropping in
oh and p.s i was just in the gallery and there is a really awesome stompa that is all upsidedown and stuff..... check it out if you have the time

Nah, not convinced that's detachable, reckon that's all done with mirrors and stuff innit?
There's just one flaw I can pick in your reasoning on the size issue. If it only has to be big enough for the dakka, and we all no there's never enough dakka, surely that would mean there's never enough space
And that sounds like CK's stompa.

i checked it out and it was cool , and on the battle fortress front i see your point :( i am really trying to find a way i can fit all of the daka i want onto it without making it look over crowded as there is actually never enough space

To SCHANK
i based the models i am going to send you, is this going to be a problem? it only occoured to me after i had done it :S sorry if it is a problem. i would like mine to be based by you if that is alright btw.
oh and to everyone else i started painting the tyranid takers mob
daka peeps i would erm like your oppinions on something un ork related.
These are my tyranids, they are/ were my first army and i have had them for a long time. so what do you daka people think of the scheme. Because i am thinking about changing it to something else or just changing the claws, but i just can't decide. anyway there are some pics below.

i am thinking about getting rid of the white all together and i really do think the claws and hoofs and stuff just look wrong. i really like the gaunts so i was thinking about doing that sort of wash on all the carapaces but i dont know how it would look.
hope people have some surgestions

Your Tyranid scheme looks very reptilian and natural. The orange and yellow fit in nicely and the purple is also a great contrasting colour. The white looks a bit out of place on them but it does not necessarily look bad. If you are going to change something it should be that. That being said I really like the scheme and it looks great overall. It needs no changes.

Like the look of the mono-wheel baby kan
As to the nids, I'd say keep the white, but 'feather' it into the green rather than have the hard edging, like you did on the tyrant's carapace. I think it's just the hard transition that's bothering you. But then again, I'm just guessing there - I'm a mek Jim, not a weird-boy.
Maybe a dry-brush over the claws, lighten the edges up a bit.
Don't see a need to change the overall scheme, it has a nice slimy green monster feel to it.

Ok-first: Is that unit at the top kommandos with 2 meks?
and second: if it is, I love the grot mek. The lone grot in a recycled kan suit is so badass hanging with the boyz.
As for the nids... I like 'em, but I want more "white". I'd say do the carapace like a turtle shell, but with liter colors. Not very much green on the shell if any at all.

The Good Green@"Ok-first: Is that unit at the top kommandos with 2 meks?" no no it is a big mek with grot oiler but i wanted to give it a different spin. Its for a trade with schank happygolucky wrote:Wow I'm really enjoying how your progress is coming along. Keep up the good stuff. Oh and im liking the battle wagons But just asking here do you not like the battle wagon kit? just asking. no its just because i want all of the tanks to be looted or scratch built, just so they are unique and have the added deathskull vibe. UPDATE so i have decided to make the battle fortress into a battle wagon with super kannon instead... the base body was just too small to work with for a battle fortress. maybe i will get a baneblade and build up from there. so above we have some pics of the exsaust pipe i added, the cool engine parts on the back, the new big shooter on the front and a small addition to the super kannon to make it even bigger. so since i decided to have just the one super kannon fitting it on and making it move is a lot easyer, so it can now be postioned and aimed and this is how it turns and pivits thanks for looking

Those grots are lookin' mighty uppity. I love it.
And the Big Mek with oiler is awesome too. Like the mek gave his first kan to his favorite grot, who stays close incase the thing breaks down
That tank is looking good too, well looted! But I'm confused about the side-gun thing. I see the exhaust on it, but what's that black cone bit?

well i was thinking about mirroring the exhaust on the other side anyway but i will see if i can fit any on at the back below the other engine thing as well
so i am just going to add the bolts and the other exhaust to the "battle-wotsit" now so pics will be up soon, not sure if i am going to paint it before i put pics up of it bolted? but i will see how i feel at the time.

So tomorrow i am going to go to my local gamesworkshop (romford) and try to get a game... probs wont happen looking at my track record for going there and it being constant begginers games :( but alas i will try. so this has been the first time i have tryed getting my ork stuff into my cases and i thought it was worth bloging about it on here as i have'nt gone out of my house for a game in months (more then 6 less then 9?)
not taking the squigifant, 2 kopters, the scratch build deffdread, the scratch built kanz or the flash gits.
though the side effect of me getting my orks into those cases is i had to empty my marines out...
pictures a bit blury but theres:
25 marines with bolters
11 marines with special wepons
5 space marine leader guys (i forget what they are called)
11 termi's (including a termi captain and 2 leader guys)
and a dread with multi melta
just thought as i got it out might as well have a pic...
The last thing on this rather random post is my army list i wrote to take.
please could people give there oppinions on the list tonight and i will check in the morning to see what people are saying before i leave.
Warboss-110
power claw, twin linked shoota, cybork body, eavy armour, boss pole

in a

ram, grot riggers, armour plates
looted wagon-125
boomgun, ard case, rokits
ork big mek-110
kff, burna, bosspole
with
19 ork boys-240
shootas, ard boyz, nob with power claw, rokit, bosspole
in a
battle wagon-150
2 big shooters, deffrola, ardcase, armour plates, grot riggers
deff dread-100 (as a troops choice because of big mek)
2 big shooters, grot riggers, armour plates
10 komando's-155
nob with bosspole and power claw, burna
8 lootas-120
1500 points
if i take away the looted wagon, komandos and lootas it is 1000 points

yours are awesome anyway (and not that slow), i am good with tanks and walkers and big stuff but your kustom warboss puts my 40mm modeling skills to shame

SO
"Oi Boss, Boss, Bo..." before grup could finish his last word he was set alight by the Mega Mek's burna and turned to a molten pile of sludge, "WHYAT IZ IT YA RUNT!!!!" the mega mek screamed at the pile of molten ork on the floor. It seemed that the boss had started to lose his mind after the months of tyranid presence on his world, just as the Mega mek lent down to scoop up and taste what melted grup is like a grot flew threw the open window hole and landed on the floor just to the side of the Mega Mek. The grot burst into a high pitched sqweal of words as soon as it had landed and it took the Mek by surprise at first before he heard a word he could recognise "Gribbly's".
The Mek took the grot by the throat and roared into its face "WHERE!!!" the grot struggling to breath pointed out of the window hole that it had been thrown through a few moments age. The Mek looked out towards the horrizon, and a grin stretched across his scared blue face "Get Da Ladz Tagetha, We Got A Fight A Comin".... when there was no reply from the grot in his hand the Mega Mek instantly prepared to rip of its tiny little head, unfortunatly the little zogga had went blue and died already, the mega mek tossed the crushed corpse onto the pile of ork on the floor and then prepared for some propa crumpin.

Luvvin the work on this.
The walkway area on the top (as already mentioned by others) really makes it work well, rather than looking like just a Land Raider with stuff on. OK it is but you know what I mean.
Hope you don't mind, but one thing is not quite right to my eye ( No no the Dakka) and I would like to make a suggestion.
It's the 'brackets' for the deffrolla, they are just a bit flimsy looking and could do with something more substantial like an I beam or some such to 'beef them up.
Apart from that the whole thing is awesome though.

So i went to my local gw and got owned. i was fighting a nurgle chaos marine army in 1500 points and it was just one thing after another. i took pictures and was going to make a battle report but tbh i dont think i have enough pictures and i cant remember everything that happened, so i am putting them on here instead.
setup
first turn
2nd turn?
3rd turn?
battle wagon 1 is destroyed
battle wagon 2 is destroyed and things move
turn 4
termies come out to play
orks die dread charges
turn 7
everything is dead
and that was that.... was totally mushed into orky bits, i think i really needed my battlewagons to survive and they just did'nt :(
maybe take 2 kff meks not time instead of a waboss. anyway i did some painting too.
first nova marine (and i just relised i missed the hand... )
and some progress on the boyz

So i have added the new twinlinked shoota too the power claw as well as armour plates leading from the gun to the back of his armour/ fuel point, and then i added some more armour plates to the exposed bits on the sides of the main gun torsoy bit (also referd too as the crotch cannon)
oh and added the slugga with sight.
still needs some work but i just want to have something to paint after the next batch of boys i finish to keep me motivated to keep painting, and at the moment he seems like a good thing to keep me on track.
one last pic just to show him of as he is at the mo.
Oh and i also added a button onto the torso that will be painted red... as all meks creations should have a red button
thanks for checking in

Bigfish, I have to agree with other comments; that your conversion work keeps getting better and better.
I've been busy with school, so I haven't been on a Dakka for while. I went back and reviewed your earlier work; which by the way is quite good, but your newest work is ever better.

out of what though? and do i really need one?
i had an idea for a warkopter a while ago made from a eldar falcon with orkyer wings.. but i just dont really need one and i dont have the money to make it at the mo... although if something comes along that i see and think hmmm i could do this. i will take the chance, but untill then no warkopters are planned.
oh and thanks
OK onto progress, its small but it is all i managed to get done in the small space of time i had.
BASING AND GREEN STUFFING LINES....(i know i know not that interesting)
so i based:
A big mek
4 nobz/ flashgits
my waaargh daka grot
20 shoota boyz
and 10 komandoes
and i also green stuffed some lines, why is that important i hear you ask?
because then i can make bolts and finish my battle wagon and warboss/ badruk convert and get to painting them.
so today was basically a big step forward to being ready to do proper stuffs at later dates.
Thanks for all the great comments and sorry this is'nt a super exciting update but next time willbe more progressful

UPDATE OF VARIOUS STUFFS
Matt.Kingsley wrote:Gorgrab da' dakka grabbin' pirat lord?
better.. hmmm i will keep that one in mind, thanks matt
ok so i hav been doing some modeling of late, i returned to my classic shoota boyz mob that i have had forever and started doing a bit of a revamp on them. pictures below.
this is all of them bar 3 i was working on at the time.
close ups
i also made one of the nobz/ flashgits have a combi flamer... i think he looks pretty badass and he will be the next thin i paint hopefully.
dont know if you can see it but i have carved the khorne sign into his armour plates and the chaos star on his armour as well (but his hair is in the way of it (should have considered that before)
but yes this one shall be the CHAOS KILLA and in doing the slaughtering of the various chaos champions he may have caught the eye of a certian skull hungry god.. so yea thats the idea with this one.
NEXT
oh yea i reinforced the battle wagons deffrolla as well to make the sides look more like they could hold the weight of the deffrolla itself a bit better. (someone commented and said i should do it, and i think it really makes it look better... cant remember who said it but thanks for the advice )
so yea, COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED
and thanks for looking

I like the deffrolla but I think it would be better with some wires or cable coming from the front-sides of the battlewagon and going down the deffrolla mounting 'arms'.

real orks dont use blueprints
CommissarKhaine wrote:I like the addition to the defrolla, and the old skool orks are looking nice as well. Did carving out the chaos symbols work out OK?
it worked ok, it was a bit fiderly at first but it turned out ok
i changed the head on him now anyway so you can see it better (the chaosy signs
Primarch_of_mechmarines wrote:I like the deffrolla but I think it would be better with some wires or cable coming from the front-sides of the battlewagon and going down the deffrolla mounting 'arms'.
hmmm ok, i will think about it. not sure though because it does'nt really need any power going to it as the rotation is'nt going to be due to a moter, it would be more the battle wagon just pushing it along (fluff wise)
but still i will think about it and do some testers with blue tac

Post by: Primarch_of_mechmarines
I realize that it doesn't need any power but, as any Mek knows more wires makes everything better.

yes on the heavy bolter front that monkey said, it is a retro heavy bolter the legs and body are old school though.
monkey when you said the telescopic thing i thought you meant a scope or something i had no idea that you were talking about the legs
Anyway the legs are from before my time and i did'nt buy them so i dont know where they are form. (most of my ork stuff i got in a big box of loads of stuff)

So i got my CHAOS KILLA OF DOOM, cough, painted. pics below
so if you have not already read this in previous posts, the idea with this guy and the other Nobz/ flash gits is that they were each assigned to go and loot the most killi things from the most killi races in the gallaxy, in a similar way to the how blood axe warbands copy humans for example the brazen claws warband. This Nob here was sent to go and find out what made those chaos boyz so killi and to find out the best way to kill em. He has found the thing that makes those chaos boyz so strong is the way they have these magic symbols on them, so naturally this nob carved those symbols into his armour and flesh. Thus attracting the eye of the blood god khorne, this Nob became stronger and stronger with each chaos boy he killed, not knowing what he would have been doing anyway was being seen as making sacrifices, The Nob decided it best to keep these magic symbols to him self. to keep them safe of course.
chaos killa and eldar killa
battle wagon/ skullhammer update
added paint to the thing
CommissarKhaine wrote: He's the guy shouting " Walk me closer I wan to hit them with my hammer!"

lol that was not the aim lol
but i can see what you are saying, i am thinking about bringing the sand on the base up a bit to cover the knees and legs of the termi more so it looks like its being pushed into the ground. i think this might solve the whole "tantrum" effect
small update on the dread, i make the Kff and a extra arm to go on him as well. i cant decide weather i want to mirror the small extra am on the other side or weather i just want to have the one.hmmm anyway i started work on the axe i want him to have and am currently trying to work out ways of getting the other wepons on there as well.

its not wide enough to be a mega dread, and i was thinking about that before but i think it would just be too cheeky to try and use it as a meka dread. still i rather like it as just a really big dread i think it works well.
ok so i did a little painting on some stuff.
so i added a skull to the grot bot, batte scars to the grot bot and the big mek, eyes to the grot bot and a touch up of the mud on the grot bots wheel. Then i painted some boyz.
just base colours and a green wash on the skin, but still progress is progress.
and then in the larger unit

Deff Dread looks great. There's not really anything to criticize, but here a few ideas to crank up the Orkiness if you like them:
- add some spikes to the left shoulder pad
- add a right should pad
- add some plasticard and rivets to make it look like the fence post is more attached to the top of the choppa
- add 2 big plastic teeth to the dreads 'jaw' on the sides of the Ork pilot's face.
- add plasticard horns (just my personal taste, I love horns)
I look forward to your progress, your scratchbuilds are always amazing.

1. - I am ashamed to say this is the first time I have looked at your blog
2. - I was a little "verklempt" to see that I had inspired someone. I think if I were to die now in a fiery explosion due to the carelessness of a friend, that would be okay.

i like your style
i was going to add the other shoulder pad but i was going to have gunners, but then after you wrote this i liked it so spikes it is! as with the teeth i did'nt want to put too much on the jaw as i want the axe to cross infront of it and i did'nt want to complicate doing this anymore. as with the choppa, it was always going to have rivits as is the entire thing but i am liking the fence post idea so i will try it. And finally, im not going to add horns to this one, i just dont think it will work at this stage, maybe when i get other bits on it done i will come back and try horns on it.
and thanks

Are you making all your rivets out of Green stuff?
I use a 1mm hole punch and some cardboard or thin plasticard to make my rivets. I can't imagine making them all out of GS, although you have done very well, they all look very uniform.
thanks, and yep all rivits made form green stuff, i did look for a way to hold punch them but tbh i quite lke the fact that i have to green stuff some up when i run out, means that i have a reason (excuse) to work on some of the other stuff that needs green stuff work.

KAN 1
KAN 2
KAN 3 (kan 3 is kinda new so nice)
and well thats where i am with it all, im going to finnish painting the boyz before i start on the kanz properly so that should be a good incentive for me to keep going, also dont know if anyone noticed but im trying out something a little different on the shooter boyz skin as well, just experimenting. anyway any comments dont be shy.

SQUIGGOTH ANYONE !!!

Yeah, I saw it.
Not sure wether I'll make a squigoth out of it, I mean, it is fairly expensive...
37519
Post by: bigfish
see thats what i first thought, but it is less expensive then the forge world ones, that and if anyone ever planned on doing a snake bite army im pretty sure you could turn it into a snakebite battle wagon like thing. and also if you bought that big elephant from the Lotr range then these would fit in quite well as squiggoths. im still going to use squiggifants for mine though.

100 points plus models for a once per game 2d6 fleet move and 1+ attack if they are in or charge into assult during the turn very nice and all i need to to it is at least 1 more squigifant (at least, but as its 50 points for a monstorous creature with 4 wounds?? why have the minimum )

You could Shenaniganize the Deffkoptas- lose one or two Buzzsaws/Rokkits (maybe for a KMB or just the =BigShootas) and use the saved points to upgrade one of the Big Shootas on each Wagon into a Kannon.
Or, drop a BS on each BW and use the points to buy a BigBomm for your Koptas, giving them Wound Allocation that way.

Or, drop a BS on each BW and use the points to buy a BigBomm for your Koptas, giving them Wound Allocation that way.
im quite liking the droping 2 bigshooters idea and then buying a bigbomm for them. but if i drop ard case on one of my battle wagons then i can get it for them with those points anyway. will think on the "Shenaniganizeing" though thanks
Gitsplitta wrote:Get rid of the Aard cases on the battlewagons... if they aren't open topped you can't assault out of them. Big minus for an ork.
Anvildude wrote:I find the "ard Cases fine, for myself. Though I do run much smaller units in mine.
Thanks for the feedback
although, im running them with kff meks so i guess i could loose them and then spend the points else where. (Shenaniganizeing)
just out of interest then what are both of your oppinions on shooter boyz in battle wagons, they have the shooters so its not like they are just sitting there, and the Ard case battle wagon gives them that extra survivablity to actually get to the front lines?

Shootas in battle wagons are very good. They can cruise around, get close enough to the enemy to fire, have protection and can still assault better than most. Tuck a nob with a PK and boss pole in there and you're all set. Plus you stick a deffrolla on the battlewagon and you've got another threat in the same package.

The two biggest issues with 'Ard Case are that 1: they keep you from being able to charge the turn you disembark, and 2: there's only 5 fire ports, with a maximum of 3 that can be pointed in a direction- and that's behind you.
I run one of my 'ard case BWs with my KFF Big Mek and his 'retinue' of 3 Burnaboyz and 3 Meks w/KMBs. It's also my Boomstompa gunwagon, with 4 Rokkits, a Kannon and a Killkannon.
I use it to either Killkannon juicy, clustered up MEq while shuffling about a bit, or when it stands still, I'm able to fire up to 8 Strength 8 shots from it, if the enemy's a little behind and to the left. If they get too close and don't wreck it, I can use my Burnas to try and do some damage.
If you're running large mobs, though, and want them to shoot, go open-topped, because then you'll get all your shots, and be able to assault when you want.

Thanks Gitsplitta, sold on no hard case in this circumstance then And Anvildude i have got to try that, i think i have read you saying something similar somewhere but yea. 8 str 8 is looking pretty good (maybe the next battle wagon )

And if the Multi-Target rules from the 'leaked' 6th edition pan out, the Gunwagon idea will be even more devestating, since you'd be able to fire the killkannon as well.

The '6th Ed' rules have something about targeting with vehicles. Each vehicle gets a certain number of points it can spend on shooting stuff every round, with Assault weapons being cheaper than Heavy being cheaper than Ordinance and so on. Vehicles with 14 front armour get 3 base, and that either doubles or triples when they don't move (or maybe it doubles even if they move 6" or less)- and units like Meks and Techmarines can increase the base number of points.
So my Boomstompa, which usually houses 4 Meks, could potentially get 7 base points, which would then be increased to 14 or more- this can be used to fire all 4 Rokkits, the Kannon, and the Killkannon at once, and even to allow it to split fire.

Now thats a tasty rule if there every was one, although i can imagine when they get round to doing the tau codex everyone is going to have some serious problems on there hands. But alas for now sounds good hope it is true.

The sound of chainsaws clashing echoed through the metal corridors of the ship, guardsmen flinched in there cells with each clash and roar from the crowd. There was no hope for them here. The men that were left sat in corners and against the cold walls, some had already lost there will and chattered to themselves wildly, others covered their fear with anger lashing out at the other men. A few grots ran by laughing and running spanners along the bars, gleefully taunting the broken guardsmen. A huge roar from the crowd was quickly followed by gurgled scream, Lexlo was dead.
Grots hurried into the center arena grabbing what ever they could and quickly hurrying back into there hiding places, an unlucky one was crushed underfoot by Grishnark as he goaded the crowd. Hundreds of Orks filled the arenas stands, all yelling and all craving more bloodshed, a weird boy in the crowd exploded only causing more uproar and laughter from the crowd. Grishnark roared at the crowd, he then looked over to an idle blue grot standing in the arena, he pointed to one of the corridors leading out of the arena. The blue grot ran in that direction as if his life depended on it, and as he did was almost hit by a stray slugga round from the crowd.
Small foot steps could be heard running down the corridor towards the cells, a small blue grot darted past and stopped just before the end of the corridor. “Grishnark wants another” “ANOTHER, THERE WON’T BE NONE LEFT SOON!”
The Ork sat up, he was littered with scares and had one protruding tooth coming through his lower lip, his eyes were small red and angry, he had one fresh cut running down from his eye to his chin which was still weeping blood. He looked at little blue grot before kicking him back down the corridor, the Ork stood up, still hunched over and walked along the cages. He stopped, something had caught his eye. In the middle of the cell sat Epaphus smiling back at him.
“YOU UP”, Epaphus stared at the Orks wound and got up without making a sound, the Ork grabbed him and pulled him close to the bars “yor turn” the Ork smiled.
Epaphus was thrown into the arena as the huge metal door crashed behind him, about 10 metres in front of him stood a huge Ork. Holding a human spine in one hand and a axe in the other the Ork looked down at Epaphus, he grinned and pointed to a pile of rusty and broken weapons “pic” was all the Ork said. Roars from the crowd echoed around the arena, Epaphus ran to the pile trying to find something that wasn’t covered in rust. He stumbled across an old imperial chain sword as grot from the sidelines lunged at him, dodging with ease the grot landed on the pile of rusty weapons Epaphus pushed down on the grot slowly as the pointy objects pieced its body. He heard a bellowing laugh from behind him and roars of laughter from the crowd, he picked up the chain sword and the battle begun.
The Ork swung with the axe narrowly missing before following with a downward swing of the spine, it missed and collided with the floor the shattered skull sending bone dust into the air, Epaphus quickly took advantage and thrust the chain sword forward narrowly missing the Ork. Epaphus had over reached and he was made to pay the price, the Orks head met his chest and winded him. Epaphus fell backwards and swung out low with the chain sword, it found the Orks leg digging deep into it. The crowd roared, the pair were both wounded but the Ork more severely. Epaphus said a prayer to the emperor and with all his strength he tried to stand up, but before he could a blue grot landed on his back, Epaphus had no strength left and collapsed. Epaphus felt the club meet his skull and everything went black.

OK, so anyone remember this guy?
well he compleatly fell apart a while ago, and in my frustration i used some of his bits on other things.
since then i have decided to try again and do better.
current progress
I needed to add the green stuff around some of the plates and extra bits just because it was'nt staying with any of the glues i used on it (thanks gw) and then i was trying to make it look like welds, but the question is does it look like welded metal... and for the people who don't read the text. The flamer in the last picture fits onto the models left shoulder and i am wanting to incorperate the axe into the model but am open to surgestions about weapons and how to do them.
DOES THE GREEN STUFF LOOK LIKE WELDED METAL OR DO I NEED TO CHANGE IT, HELP HERE WOULD BE GREAT......THANKS
its just im not too disappointed but a secound (or a few) oppinion/s on it could'nt hurt. just want to try and get this up to the next level all round model wise.
BTW Everything here is just wip incase people have surgestions
ok well im done, thanks for looking

I thought the GS was poorly done chain to begin with
Managed to work out it was meant to be welding before you asked about it though
It seems a bit thick though perhaps? Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas to make it better (all my modelling supplies and books are in a crate somewhere between the UK and Oz...)

First of all, when did you move to aus? secoundly, lol, you know your not doing well when someone mistakes it for a badly don chain, And d/w tis cool ill work it out. (hopefully)

so i found a bunch of different welds and i dont know which to try and copy, need to sort out the current ones for sure now.
they are numbered if people want to say what they thnk would work best.

I think the GS wielding is a good idea, havent seen it before. It looks realistic. I dont see Ork meks worrying too much about neatness. And I like the direction of your Ork walker. Looks better than the first one.

Thanks for the input guys but i think im going to go with something like this rather then messyer ones, just because then i know people will know its mold lines not just blobs of crappy gs work. that said i want some bits too look a bit messy and badly done but as if an ork did the welds badly.... which could be a pain in the but meh

I've been here over a month now (touched down on July 2nd) Da Dark Angelz aren't due until September (hence why not much activity from me at the moment )
I think any of those sample welds would work out great. Looks like you need place down little balls of GS and smush them down one at a time overlapping the previous (or just push down with something small and spherical in the messier case). There's probably a faster way though...
