RL is truly getting in the way. I'm going to attempt to get some painting done this coming week as after that I have to travel on business. So if my entry is not done by the end of the week then the chances are it wont be done by the deadline... I will though do my utmost to finish...
My models are all but finished. The bases on the other hand... I'm still waiting for them to arrive. If they don't arrive soon, then I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull out. I don't want to make bases that don't fit the overall theme just to make a dateline. Nobody commented on my WIP, so I'll just repost it, maybe for comments or something.
Everyone's entries look brilliant, sadly I'm not going to have time to finish my entry and I don't want to rush it so I'm going to drop out if that's okay. I'll be sticking around to see how it goes and hopefully I'll manage to enter the next round. Good luck everyone!
Running out of time, but still attempting to finish - here with Graveyard Earth over Devlan Miracle over Graveyard Earth (still to work up through Desert Yellow and Bleached Bone...)
Dear all,
I'm afraid to say that I'll have to back out of this comp as I yet to start painting my squad and have not finished the building. The reason being I have Mocks, of Mocks of Mocks coming up in around 3 weeks time and want to do well in them.
I believe I'll be going right down to the line here, we've been having bad weather so its impossible for me to base coat and spray my diorama base... so Ive been trying to focus on completely finishing the miniautures and their respective bases just in case this torrential downpour go for weeks... Here are a couple of WIP shots.... again :p
Entries looking good! Still trying to finish on time, but, well, it looks less likely all the time. Have to see where I'm at after the weekend...
Progress:
Waaagh! Machine. Starting to take on the more bone white colour of the finished product and less the brown/yellow I've been building up through....

Did any of you see the third Iron Man movie? I swear Tony Stark built a honest to God, mother-f***ing terminator!!!
On another note if you go all "Iron Patriot" on Waaagh Machine's paint job, I'll disown you.
I'm all finished but I can't take pictures yet, real life keeps whacking me upside the head. Hopefully I'll have them taken and up before the deadline. I wish everyone else the best of luck. Really hope you can finish your entry Arakasi, it looks awesome even unfinished.
Just to be clear - I'm not asking for any special treatment (or extension) - this competition has been a great motivating force to getting me this far - and they will get finished even if they don't quite make the deadline. I wouldn't want to take anything away from the other great competitors who *have* managed to finish on time!
JUDGEMENT BEING PROCESSED. Justice Required. How long of an extension does everyone want? -1-4 weeks are preferred. Take votes, and if you previously withdrew, you may re-enter, throw you hat back in. No problem.
I'm all for the extension to get some of those who don't have time and those still in progress able to complete...
Amazingly, considering my late start, I'm almost done. Some weathering on the posters and signs in the background and a few finishing touches on the figures. Should be sorted in a couple of days (hopefully)
For now I have this washed out image... Will get better shots when it's finished, with my light box. Have some extra details like a flying monkey and ruby shoes to reveal
Thanks guys. I'll get some individual shots as well as a new group shot and hopefully will be better than both these shots... Doesn't help that the camera is on its last legs either...
Viktor von Domm wrote: i like the darker version of these pics... and why did you all glue these posters so straight? a bit of lopsided would have been a blessing...
as for extension... i am game for everything... too much other stuff has me trailing off to other "stuff"... i need to refocus on this comp soon...
Thought you might take me to task on those, but the squarly hung posters are designed to be so... They are professionally hung within a frame (need to add this around them). I'm planning some grafitti, a tear or two and also some bloody (not swearing, but red) hand marks...
Will admit though that the notice behind 'scarecrow' was a mistake and is too low - may rectify this one...
Viktor von Domm wrote: oh... frames you say?...hmm... now that needs to be taken inot account of course... well then i will rest my case...for now...^^
also... a guy here made a silicon hand shaped brush... for those sticky and bloddy handmarks...i doubt it if i can find that thread tho...
and at LDD... really? you think so? i think those peeps need to get $&%$§&% because they are bean counters the lot of them^^
WOW Vik harsh words

@LDD, indeed, professional poster sticker uppers have a code of conduct and work to perfect levels
you think so?... hmmm... well i had a school day with such peeps... and it always is a bit of a cramp to work with such types of person that do everything straight...sorting pencils by the length and so on...

Well that is just a case of OCD, I suffer with it mildly

i completly try to ignor the sublime undertones of this one

well not as some kind of OCD... but as a basic small minded character way of living and working with other men...
I'd like an extended deadline (I've mostly painted 5 out of 10 models, and 1 week *should* be enough for the others, but I'll ask for two, just to be on the safe side.
I am cool which ever, All I got to do is take a final nice picture. Got to learn how mind but that's easy. I am cool with a bit of extra time, so all the excellent work can take part. It is a hard time of year for many.
Dats it den ladz. New due dat is on ur front page. Please take look at the dat, mark et in ur calenders. Sweat till you drop. Paint till ur fingers fall off.
Panda, you are too kind, I was just about to pull ot.
Now all I need is for it to stop bloody rainng here, it's meant to be the goddamn dry season wet it feels like we've has more rain that we did in Summer already! Grrr...
Should be god, though, probably get more painting done on Sunday, by then I should have the other problems stopping me from painting (assignments for Physics, Maths C and Film/TV/New Media out of the way)
and for the record... i am for three weeks... but i will look at the new due...(oh my...i rhyme...)
The weeks are added. Enjoy your life dear lads. I am going to enjoy some new ELDAR! *frolics off into the distance*
Best of luck. Sadly that is the final dead line. We will have a round five. I expect good returns.
Hive Fleet Lazarus wrote: great to see some beaten up tau, its a nice change from the usual clean of the assembly line look
my pics are taken, I'll post them after work tonight
I'm realizing after taking the pics that the mass of greys, blacks and silvers used for everything doesn't match with the nice sunny day but oh well.
some extra shots of the kill team members, spoilered so its not such a massive post
Spoiler:
Blood Angels librarian
Ultramarine with bolter and power sword
'
Dark Angel with power axe and plasma gun
Salamander with deathmark rifle, my favorite
Space Wolf, tearing into some poor necron
First terminator, the full melee Imperial Fist
and the second is the full ranged Black Templar
White Scar dual wielding bolters
and finally a Dark Eagle with dual lightning claws
and if you managed to read all the way through this mess, congrats!
both the White Scar and Dark Eagle have a piece of push pin on their foot to switch between scenic base and standard base. Also all the models have some conversion/kitbash done to them, some more then others.
They look really cool. They definately do not like Necrons thats for sure. They are great. Particularly like the Salamander. Dynamic pose and awesome gun.
I got up early this morning and, seen as you are all raising the game here, I took my final images. I will post them soon, don't want to ruin the chain of thought here. You guys work is amazing, keep it coming.
hey HFL very good looking dio! your models look very cool, lots of character! also I love that you made the airborne minis able to be used on bases and on the dio too! good thinking there!
my only criticism is about the rather bland looking jetpacks... maybe some cool freehand or markings would have been cool looking to break up that big black space...
@ Hive Fleet Lazarus. Maybe an insignia to tie the group together, they look awesome and look like a group as is, so don't get me wrong. Either that or a bunch of honour badges or kill markings (you know like cron with a line through it.) Mind you that's a bit cheesy for who they are. Or how about a flashing neon sign saying "Follow us if you dare..." chance for some nice OSL work!!
Just kidding dude, I think they look bloody amazing. If they where me ork boys I would paint a "two fingers" sign on there.
Ok think I am happy enough so spoilered to not spoil the blog, here are my final pics.
@Lucarikx - Nice battle worn Tau you got going on. Really digging the bases as well.
@Hive Fleet Lazarus - Wow, what a story. Nicely done. You're right about all the greys and black not showing up well in the sunlight, but close ups show the figures of nicely. Ring of fire around the Necron is cool @Camkierhi - Love em, really Orky bikes. Great to see them come to together so well and nice little scene to display them
So, I'm going to use the RL excuse again! Been busily finishing my back garden ready for the (short) UK summer, and now I'm off to Poland on business. Will be back though this weekend and the plan is to get my finishing touches done then so that I can meet the deadline with time to spare...
I believe that this competition is running for too long, and causes itself to lose steam and eventually just fade away. Perhaps the next one could be shorter? It'll encourage everyone to finish their entries by the deadline if the deadline were actually a deadline (in my opinion). I understand that some people will have other events that pop-out and disrupt their schedule, but this is a competition and... Well, you should understand what I mean.
Anyway, with the extra time I decided to create a little scenery for them to stand on.
This is my final-final entry.
WIPs (Large Images)
Spoiler:
Good luck, everyone else! See you guys on the flipside!
Those guys look pretty badass. One thing with the helmetless dude, there seems to be a bit of metallic paint above his aquila(edit: just realised that they dont have aquilas on their chests) that is out of place. Other than that, very nicely done!
Hahaha its an attempt at battle damage, its my first time trying to do it on my miniatures so guess I still have a thing or two to learn XD Each miniautre has some sort of paint scratch or burn showing the silvery metal of the armour underneath
*SLAPS SMITTY PROFUSELY* Dont encourage them! You already finished man.. the slackers are coming... dont mention work or they will run! run like cockroaches to the light.
Great work from everyone! I'm super psyched to see all the finished entries together. Fingers crossed I'll be able to enter the next round and stick it out this time.
Mine won't be finished in time, despite the extension, so I'll be withdrawing too. Hopefully work will settle down a bit so I can give the next round a proper shot.

Wow I haven't visited this thread for a while (to much real life) some nice entries recently I really like the Ultramarines termies and the battleworn Tau. Good job alround guys.
Well that is it for Entries. Round 5 and judging is gonna come up tomorrow. Thanks for the time and effort. Sad to hear so many dropped, but that is life. Maybe they will try to win next time to un do their dishonor. Thank you all.
Today is the close right? Here's my finished entry - not any different from the last time I posted, but it was only the display base that I didn't end up completing, the figures are all done.
So here they are, Dorothy and the gang - Zombie apocalypse survivors from Kansas...
Congratulations to everyone who finished on time - more so if by the original deadline. I didn't make it , and then got sidetracked by the DakkaDakka Painting Competition - bad me. I'll leave you with as far as I got - factory condition Mega-armour:
I'll get these finished eventually...
Sorry to see you didn't finish, their is always next round have no fear. TONIGHT IS JUDGEMENT EHEHEHEHEHEHE *pole* doh... that always ruins my fun. Also... lets try something new, i can't compile the finishers until this evening, unless someone really wants too do it for me. But once they are compiled you can cast a vote! yes you, those who completed. Can cast a vote for their favorite. (Note: Never voted for self, that is possible.)
Good job everyone, some lovely models in this thread. I took the liberty to compile for Panda... Here goes, in no particular order... If I missed anyone let me know...

And for completeness, we salute those who fell on the way...
I've heard the same thing from multiple sites around the interwebs so its either a very elaborate, fast travelling bit of information or finally some Nordic's arrived on the internet to clear up all fuzziness on the matter.
Also, will the voting be held here on this P&M Blog or will there be a link to the voting booths soon?

voting booths. Ha! like i am going to write that website.
No lets do this,
You all - the completed contestants. You know who you are! Pm me your vote here on dakka! i will add it into the final say say. Then I will post the 5th round. And we can all redeem ourselves.
Ok all here are the results. Judging again was difficult. There were several ties on the first passing by. If you lost it was by a hair i promise you. This was so difficult to make a final decision. Your private votes made a huge difference in these out comes. From now on I will be running those as they settled many tie breakers for us.
