I need to black wash the skin a bit and maybe use some purple washes. It's just a chalky layer of white right now. Everything is very "Rough" since these are the first models of the army. Still not sure what techniques to use

Purple is a great shadower for white skin, gives it an unhealthy hue. I use it on all my chaotic armies.

That is the exact purple hue I want to go for with some occasional tattoos

I found a few photos from old 5th and 6th edition fantasy chaos who had similar skin

It is a nice evil skin color

I use purple contrast (magos purple I believe) over a grey-white basecolor, then highlight with the base color, then pure white. Both highlights with a moist brush to leave some of the previous layer showing.

For the renegades, they also get a watered down black glaze at the end to grimdark them even more.

the rest have been finished!

This was rushed but I got the results I wanted. It's not a commission ; it's a free job for a local group so I cut some corners when weathering. A bunch of magnet/removable pieces and doodads included.

Finished this - not really happy with it. I stuck to the plan I made and completed it. Ehhh I'd rather if I made a 6x4 or a large table in this style instead of a small footprint/kill team

Having a hard time figuring out what to do next. I had a friend call me out about my 2 unpainted Tyranid titans. I might spend the holidays painting the Harridan and Hieropant. I still have 4 Monstrous Creatures and around 60 Termagants to paint + Rippers.

I need to paint minis for a few months and then dip back into terrain in 2023

Lots of lay offs and hours cut at work. I managed to survive but I only work 2 weeks in December. I'm going to marathon painting instead of working the nutty 60 hour weeks I've been doing for months.

Injured my neck squatting actually at the gym so no painting for a bit. Working on the toy tank conversions into Leman Russ count-as tanks

That’s a lot of armour! The toy tanks look pretty good already, I guess they’ll be getting the ERA looking panelling too? The back left of the tank park looks like it’s got the camping gear for the whole battalion!

Mate this is peak hobby - well built & painted minis on well built & painted terrain. Great photos too.

Love the slickness on the nids' carapace, love the weathering all round on the terrain.

I have one of those tehnolog tanks myself - I used it as a hellhound - the Leman Russ turrets fit well!

I love old "goofy" miniatures. Much of the digitally sculpted stuff feels soulless to me. Sure they're technically great, but there's something about miniatures made by hand that really works for me. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy

I think that compliment is a bit much LOL. I was aiming for a "cold" look to the skin. I've been having trouble selecting colors for this commission. Its a wild mix of Barbarians, monsters, and merfolk so far

3d printed ice giant starting

This came out pretty bad. I tried a new technique on the skin and made the contrasts too harsh. Not too happy with this big fellow.
