Those look excellent! I love the tables and gubbins on them, that's a really nice detail.
And I get the ADHD thing... I just resumed work on a figure from about 13 years ago that I hit a blocker on!

Those tables are great, the books worked out well. The camo on Chag is really good too, and he certainly looks SF with his mix of non-spec gear . Loving the old and new orlocks too

Thanks all!
@endtransmission I just found a model that's been soaking in Dettol for several years now. Paint better come off...
Anyways, you may have noticed that I used a new skin recipe for my penal legion trooper.
The pics I took didn't really show it of very well but I quite like the effect I came up
So while working on my Hexorcist i thought I'd document it while I still remember...

Started with some Celestra Grey followed by a wash of Druchii Violet

Another layer of Celestra and then a highlight on Corax White
Finally I slapped some Contrast Gullimans Flesh over it.
+++
Also finished painting up some barricades:
They're a bit brighter than my first lot (back left as reference) but they're also rustier...
Also got to a point with my Kill Team barricades:
Unfortunately I am kinda stuck on whether to leave them as is or layer another colour on top...
See you next time

Thank you, I will probably keep the barricades as is because I'm lazy. Thinking about a coloured stripe to put something tying them to my Necromundian guard...
So for this post which I meant to put up on Friday (or at the latest Saturday) I have been busy painting and not sleeping and then catching up on all the sleeps...
Some of this has already been seen in Instagram because it is ridiculously easy to post when I have five minutes, unlike Dakka where it can take me easily an hour or two to figure out what I'm writing.
Or accidentally press the Submit button instead of scrolling down the page on my phone...
But this week, Dakka is getting ahead, yay!

The Mystic:
Esca just wants to be left alone to read his books, stories about romances that he will never experience, stories about animals he will never touch, stories about a peaceful life he will never see.
Then his masters drag him away from his library to make him listen for the voices.
Voices that promise all the things he knows he can never have.
+++
The Hexorcist:
Agnus's fellow agents have provided a stick of holy resin for him to bite down on. They tell him it is to infuse him with the Emperors blessing...
Regardless, his enemies can feel the hate and faith push through the gag as if it was never there.
+++
The Pistolier:
No fluff yet, he's just the base model, was trying to make his weapons stealthy but I don't think you can do that with a plasma gun...
+++
The Questkeeper:
Also no fluff but as the alternate for the pistolier I had to find a replacement body.
The upper torso is from the priest being atomised by some necron lord, unfortunately it got damaged during construction.
Legs I think are from Frostgrave with a spacer to get the right height. I tried to blend it with the robes but it didn't look great, so now he has a lot of danglies on his belt...
+++
Did a bit of green stuff work on the Enlightener agent:
Wanted the coat to look a bit more like the official model and less like a ganger.
Now I've said that I can imagine he's an ex Delaque...
+++
Also painted up some servo skulls to go with the Tome-skull:
These are from the Scion kit (?), one as is and another with some conversions
+++
Given that I have been blasting through the Inquisitional Agents Kill Team nothing should stop me from finishing them by Christmas!
Nothing...

@ Gobert: Thanks, the skeleton is from board game called Destinies, more on that in a sec...
@ Captain Brown :Thank you
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all!
So what have I been up to over Christmas?
Mostly playing Death Stranding and it's sucking all my life away(40 hours this week :S)
Not sure why, but I like its mostly chill vibes, slow pace, building roads and making deliveries
I did however do some hobbying:
+++
Got my last two Inquisitorial Agents finished on Christmas day
The Enlightener:
The Interrogator:
Again no stories, I seem to be on bit of a block on that front. Happy with how the Enlighteners collar came out.
+++
Played a board game called Destinies (where that skelly is from), it has a few 15mm minis, some special dice and an app that acts as a GM...
Up to three people try to fulfill their own hidden goal that apparently conflict with each other:
Good fun, I "won", by the skin of my teeth.
I had acquired a load of boosts to my dice but on the final encounter, I rolled nothing but ones and burnt though everything just trying to get passing rolls.
There's only really a limited number of times you can play it, due to knowing whats going to happen.
There is, however several smallish stories that apparently make up a campaign...
At first I thought the minis were made of HIPS as they were quite rigid, but when I tried to remove mold lines it bacame clear that they're rubbery, so I left them as is.
I think I painted maybe ten of the minis, but in the interests of trying not to spoil myself, I didn't use the cards as reference so I just picked random models and gave what I thought was an appropriate colour scheme.
Because most of the minis are tiny they got a super simple paint job of colour-wash-colour as a highlight.
From the lack of pictures, you can guess that I forgot to take any. I'll make an effort to take some the next time I paint some
+++
Got a new box of Orlock quads as a Christmas present, but seing as I already had two I thought I'd make something new:
Ended up going with a new member of my Ash Wastes Admech.
I put a poll up on my Instagram about what i should run it as
Kataphron, Outrider, the wierd robot horse thing or just a random dude on a quad.
Outrider won so I put together some bits:
I wanted to keep the general shape and feel as an Outrider but also wanted to keep the AdMech weapon set so it wasn't just an Orlock painted red...
So I came up with a Servitor for the gunner:
Servitors generally have a specific task so he doesn't need all the fancy extra limbs a regular ganger has.
Some more cables for guts hanging out and a battery pack to fill the gap:
And some base layers of paint to bring them together:
Sticking to the Stygies VIII scheme, I feel they needs some of the cog markings to move it away from red Orlock.
Oh, I cut the stabby bits off the front because I was gonna replace them with the cattle prods AdMech have, but I don't have any in my bits. May try scratch building one...
+++
Thats all for now, I don't have any new years resolutions because I don't have any focus right now so I'm gonna be bouncing all over the place with hobby stuff...
Maybe I should make a list...

@Endtransmission: Thank you and snip snip snip
@Colonel Jacka: Thanks!
@OSJClatchford: Yes, it was well sorted, but it wasn't on my system, so it was wrong :p
So what have I been up to?
Injuring myself apparently, third hand injury of the year and the worst (so far, haha).
Nearly cut the tip off my thumb off when the coffee pot I was cleaning shattered.
No worries, I needed a new excuse why ive hardly painted anything anyway...
The real tradgedy was that I couldn't make coffee anymore, one that my partner quickly fixed.
I did however make a list of my current paint queue and plans for the year:
Probably going to be mentioning "OSJCs bits" a lot in this post...
+++
Escher Shivver got some more paint on her last week:
Unfortunately I am not digging it right now, it definitely needs some more on her skirt, maybe some yellow...
+++
Before glassing my self, I finally painted up the "Tailor" character and well, she's not a tailor anymore:
Now she an Operations Manager for TriInd, the mining company my GSC models have been repatriated to.
And thanks to OSJCs bits, there's gonna be few more:
Also something I wanted to do for a while is a Confined Space Rescue and Recovery Team (CSRT) and now I have found some heads with the right style mask in OSJCs bits:
These helmet rims have obviously misprinted and so going replace the lid with some in line with the helmet my previous workers were wearing. Unfortunately, I only have two left, so time for the blue-stuff:
The mold come out really well so was inspired to remake my poorly done pouches mold and a new shoulder pad mold (no pics) that came out pretty good as well
+++
One of my favourite things in OSJCs bits is the small furry animals I found:
Little anvil bomb rats, there was a duplicate so trimmed off his explosive and replaced it with a GSC mining charge.
Also found a torso that goes well with the unused legs from the FW beast tamer:
I put in some miliput for gap filling last night when filled my helmet mold
+++
Thats all for now, currently working my way round my thumb, but I doubt that I will be painting this week...
See you later!

@gobert: Theres no rat with a beret, haha, but that might change the next time I crack out the green stuff...
Although I do have some hero quest rats that I was thinking of basing as plain old wildlife.
@ Haigus: no idea where the prints for the mask are from they came from OSJClatchfords bits box that he sent. The helmets are a press mold from some old empire militia. I'm pretty sure the masks themselves are a fictional design, but they are close enough to the masks (Scott Vision 3s if you're interested) that I use when I'm working CSRT
So its been a while, my thumb got its dressing off, the scar runs all the way round from nail to nail, so I must of nearly lost the whole tip. it's healed up nicely and I can start using it again...
Coincidentally work went from 10% to 100% effort the last few weeks so I have been absolutely shattered and only scraping a few half hours here and there for hobby time, if I didn't fall asleep on my chair first.
Work seems to have dropped back down to 10% for now...
+++
First up is a new Beast Trader/Tamer to replace the one I turned into a Rogue Trader:
Arms and head are from the Frostgrave female wizards set, they were the only arms that felt the right size for the torso although I think they might be a bit short.
The whip hand is from the Escher Wyld Runners.
She still needs a bit of green stuff work to fix her boots, but my last lot of green stuff was pretty hard to work with, I may need a new roll, I've had it longer than this blog!
+++
I started building a new set of stairs similar to something I saw some where:
Wanted something to go up two levels, which seems to be as high as most of my stuff goes.
Wall section is just sign board with some strips of platicard. Its based around a ZM 3x3 square but it doesn't really lock into the board as well as I would like.
+++
Poking through OSJCs bits again I built and painted up all the Gerry Cans I found:
Idea is to keep them separate (for now) and maybe use as tokens for fuel and/or water.
Some had missing pieces so I just painted what I had with the intention to add them to terrain or bases.
+++
Put a yellow wash and some black stripes on my Escher Shivvers skirt:
Don't like it much, it kinda feels wrong now. I spotted someone else's Shivver and their stripes were a lot more dense so will try that.
Also painted up her srcying skull:

+++ A Study in 1/35 +++
Soooo... I've not been feeling great, no motivation only sleep.
So in an effort to to break back into hobbying I thought I'd try something new...
Some time ago I had the uneducated idea of trying Inquisitor models but using 1/35 scale models as the base (I now know that 54mm inquisitor models ARE 1/35 scale), opening up scale models for vehicles and better proportions...
*Adds 1/35 scale Chimera to project list*
Little one required Loom Bands from Hobbycraft and I remembered that the Jerry cans from OSJClatchfords bits package were available in the shop, so I bought a bunch of 1/35 scale bits.
Obviously given the choice between American, German or British soldiers, I picked up a box of British dudes in a casual pose rather than a fighting one.
I started by building the guy up as he should be just without the head and gear:
My green stuff wasn't sticking very well so ended doing his armour out of plasticard that I trimmed and filed down for a better look.
For some reason I decided that he was going to be a vox-caster and so gave him an appropriate backpack and head. I then added a pouch and a haversack from the kit and an knife and canteen from GW:
He got a lascarbine because I couldn't be bothered to rescale the stock on a regular lasgun.
Side note on scale: the 1/35 hands and boots are pretty well scaled for GW and I had hoped the GW weapons would fit nicely, but they are very chonky compared to 1/35th ones.
As well as this, the ZM flooring on the base looks less like a trip hazard...
Unfortunately, as you can see, the head was a bit out of scale so I made a new one:
The main part is the official head on the sprue with the helmet rim trimmed right down. the rest of the shape was then made from plasticard and sanded smooth.
Next I very carefully removed an camera and the rear power pack off of a mutilated vox caster head and transplanted them on to the new helmet.
Lastly, I added some cheek pieces with more plasicard...
With the head remade I then managed to get some sticky green-stuff and started on the straps:
Due to the armour, the right arm kinda moved away from it's "correct" position so the strap for the backpack was bulked up to reach the hand.
The lascarbine got a single point bungee sling that is probably run through the armour (not how I'd like it, but I have seen it done).
I did try using GW cadian shoulder pads but they seemed to fit poorly so I just used green stuff.
I played with it until it looked right which ended up being a little smaller that the GW ones.
Finally for this post I put some base colours on him:
I don't know why I went for a Necromundian guard scheme, I will probably shift it to Inquisition colours later down the line.
you may notice the hand and face are a bit wierd colour wise and that I becuse I tried out a tone map that supposed to help with colouring faces realistically...
Anyways I really enjoyed putting this guy together, I think he looks neat even if some bits are slightly off proportion, will probably sculpt the body armour next time
Going to avoid using washes when painting and just use lots of layers...
See you next time, I have some stuff I need to take pictures of so hopefully that'll be soon...

LOVE the bomb rats! They turned out superb!
The 1/35 chap looks great too. The modified head does look much more in keeping than the 40k one. I think he looks good in the Necromundian colours, the helmet colours are similar to what I’ve seen others do, so it could work as is?

Back again!
So... No real excuse, just been in a hobby funk, doing a lot of sleeping and being ill.
I think I'm feeling better and over the last couple of weeks I have been back to regular painting and modelling.
However it did take me about three days to write this post so... Yeah...
@Gobert: Thanks, I did want to move away from Necromunda with the guy, seeing as he doesn't scale well with the rest of the ZM terrian.
@Kid_Kyoto: Thanks, they still look chunky on 1/35 but I subscribe to the 40k weapons are armoured theory so it doesn't bother me to much.
@OSJClatchford: Thanks, I personally would love to see where you go with Inquisitor scale minis.
@Captain Brown: Thank you!
So what have I been up to?
First up, some boxes to scatter everywhere:
Painted some up as plastic because not everything needs to be rusty.
Put some red stripes on my Kill Team barricades and found some more so decided to paint them with some different colours for the gangs to claim
+++
Next up, I finished my set of stairs:
I added an opening for a "confined space" in preparation for my future CSR Teams photo shoot.
I didn't repeat the fancy metal trim from the lower half which I kinda regret now its finished...
Some wips:
Speaking of CSR team; I broke the mask on the guy I made while connecting the line to it and then lost the other masked head so thats been stalled
Luckily, I have recently found them missing head in one of my other bits boxes.
+++
Finally painted the wheels on on some Ash Wastes vehicles finishing a Cargo 8 trailer (last post) and the SkOrlock buggy:
+++A midnight rendezvous+++

A newly modified Outrider spearheads the Archeotech Recovery/Sanction Expedition as they penetrate the rear defences of the local belligerents.
+++
Got some of that fluorescent paint recently and started going over some of old minis:
Need to get a UV torch now for extra pop
Not a fan of using the paints as they are overly thick and thinning them with water is a bit hit and miss.
May try some medium at a later point
+++
Some Characters finished:
+++The Seer+++

Kutabiri has a concern, she sees two futures, one where Jelena leads the gang to great prosperity, and another where the House sponsors order them into oblivion.
She hopes to fix this issue, but she has not seen Jelena as of late...
+++The Beast Tamer+++

Gallian goes to great lengths to hide her scars; heavy make up, fancy clothes and a showmans persona at odds with herself...
After all, no-one wants an attack beast that doesn't know the difference between friend or foe...
+++
And then on the WiP front, done some updating of my old "Van Saar" gang:

These guys are probably going to become Spyrer retainers/juves/manservants
And lastly these two guys that I made with no plan:

No idea what I'm going to do with them, the base body I think is bolt action and they are significantly out of scale with regular Warhammer minis...
+++
And finally a thing I have been doing in the background every now then is preparing to move away from Necromunda.
Not the game, per se, just the planet...
Something I have always been trying to do is have my own space to write stories and while I can do that for the most part, Necromunda has an official storyline going that I have not read anything about. This means that anytime I want to do something, my OCD has to check what the official 'canon' is doing.
So some time in the future, I'll be moving to the Beorht system of my own creation.
Major inspirations will be old english names, moorland mining towns and the STALKER series.
Some characters will move over backstory intact, others will be retconned and new characters will be made.
most stuff thats overtly Necromunda will remain Necromunda, like the gangs
A lot of the stuff I have is written down and to be honest I am not sure how im going to present it, may try the Dakka articles...
Tata for now, will try not to leave so long between updates...

Did some hobby, yay!
First up found my missing Rescue Team head and got it on a body:
Green stuff straps for the air cylinder on his back are currently curing...
+++
Finished a few more of the wierd scale dudes using what I assume are Bolt Action minis from OSJCs bits:
Again Frostgrave arms, 1/35 weapons and Necromunda heads:
There was a lot of frustration involved in getting the weapons in hands but I'm happy with the results.
+++
Some first bits coming for the Beorht system, specifically Beorht Delta (haven't settled on a neam yet).
So some fluff;
The Beorht System is located in the Nephilim sector, Ultima Segmentation and has two habitable planets, Delta and Epsilon.
The date is about 765.M41
Most of the action takes place on Delta where approximately 20 years ago after some Mechanicus shenanigans, some massive Blackstone Obelisks erupted from the ground.
This is where I basically go full S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Some bases to get an idea on how the terrian is going to look:
Aiming for a moorland look from (poor) memory, mostly mud with tufts of grass and the occasional bit of lichen dipped in Dirty Down moss.
Also based on Beorht Delta is a Trash Wastes Bandit:
He comes from an idea I had after painting the FW Relic Trader to use rubbish bags as clothing. My least favourite Ash Wastes Nomad was volunteered for conversion.
I think the others may follow...
Lastly for this week, I bought some bits that I plan to use for the Beorht PDF:
I'm thinking Krieger legs/torsos and Cadian heads and arms. Probably going to cover up the Krieg filter boxes with pouches to get an old soviet vibe.
124305
Post by: osjclatchford
You've no idea how pleasing it is to see so much over that job lot being used so passionately and thoroughly!
The Beorht PDF is something I'm eagerly awaiting to see. The mix of parts will be most interesting to see. I've only seen krieg arms on cadian bodies, not t'other way round but it's a logical step that should produce truly striking effect! Id suggest using the incursor/infiltrator leg pockets for the chest if I were you. If you gently slice off the two smallest ones (save them for belts and the like) and use the resultant pair on the chest and they'll make the job easier. Very thin. Curved and sleek but still chunky enough on guard without looking absurd. Just my twopennith, you know by now hoc OCD I am about pockets, lol!

OJSClatchford: No problem on the bits, I'm surpring myself sometimes...
Thanks for the suggestion for the pouches, but I don't have much interest in Space Marines so the sprues I have are hidden in the bottom of a not so easy to access box...
Gobert: Thanks, it was indeed super satisfying when I got them to a good point.
+++
Hi all, Meant to post last week but this just means I have more to post...
It's pretty much all Beorht stuff at the moment, still can't come up with a good name for Beorht Delta, most of my naming at the moment are coming from Old English words and I'm leaning towards Onginnan (to begin) or Acennan (to give birth).
Beorht Epsilon is provisionally Sweostor (Sister).
Anyways, put together some Kriedians:
The pouches went quite smoothly, I found some that I liked glued them together in a trio and then made a Blue Stuff mold of it:
(I used the pouches in the right, no idea where they're from, they had cylinders next to them, I'm sure OSJC will know )
This I then filled with sprue goo and let dry, less is more it seems. This gave me a thin shell that was easy to trim down to the right size. I also did some pouches with GS and Miliput as a test
First issue I had was that there weren't enough Kantrael style lasguns in the box, so I have to put some special weapons in for now or wait until I grab another nucadian box...
It seemed appropriate to use the krieg sniper rifle as it looks more bolt action and I added a GSC shotgun as well:
The next issue was the heads not being compatible at all. I solved this with filing the top smooth, reducing the height of the collars in the process, and the drilling a 5mm neck hole. This was then cleaned up with a knife:
Then the neck of the cadian head was trimmed to fit. A bit of sprue goo in the neck hole helped fill the gaps:
Another problem was the back of the Krieger torso, I didn't want to use the backpacks as these guys are supposed to be on base so "might as well take dope and beer instead."
This left a gap that I have since filled with a Miliput/ GS mix.
At some point, I will make some GS up to finish the webbing straps.
I am currently putting that off as I type...
+++
Also for Beorht, I started on some of the Noble class:
Commodore Saehulf (Left) and Lord General Field Marshall Hereward (Right).
Commodore Saehulf, Commander of Fleet Beorht. Responsible for four picket ships and 2 troop carriers as well associated landing craft and voidsmen. His orders come primarily from Battlefleet Nephilim which, despite being a cousin of the governor, he takes great delight in reminding the govening body when conflicts of interest arise.
He does however regularly favour his home system in secret...
Lord General Field Marshall Hereward, commander of the PDF.
A vain and corrupt man who is close friends with the governor. Regularly underfunds and sells off PDF assets. The Departmento Exacta sends an agent to monitor his activities during the tithe.
He views himself as the pinicle of armed warfare and hates the fact that the Psyker Deupavor has more military experience than him and so he ensures that he personally executes enemies of the state in an attempt to inflate his kill count.
+++
Lastly some more Trash Wastes Bandits:
The Heavy started out as an exoskeleton suit for Hereward before I decided to try and keep the nobles dressed as if they're going to a party.

Hey all, thanks for the kind words, my last post was quick to get something out and motivate me, been doing other stuff as well, but not much.
I've been having a bad year for motivation it seems and I'm struggling to get stuff done.
This includes updating the blog/Instagram unfortunately, I meant to post this last week...
First up there are a couple of Beorth system "nobles"
Provisionally the governors wife:
I fear she's a bit boring, model wise, but not sure what to add to her.
character wise, she's only here because the governor needs a wife and she knows it, so she causes small mischiefs for her own entertainment...
Like informing certain people of parties and secret cabinet meetings.
My random inquisitor now gets a name and a party outfit:
Need to add to prayer beads and =][= sigil to her to tie her model to her combat version.
She's now Inquisitor "Gloria" of the Ordo Herectus. Widely disliked by the local born nobles of Beorht because she often does not respect thier authority. She gets invites to parties despite nobody knowing who sent them.
She is mainly an excuse to have some Sisters of Battle around.
Some bits on the PDF troops:
I filled in thier backs with Miliput and then came back with green stuff straps.
I have since made progress painting them but doing multiple minis feels like a slog right now.
Also up is a quick knock up of my leftover parts:
I may have a need for governments that the Imperium does not recognise as the rulers of the planet.
Technically they're not at war but they are independent of the Planetary Governor and they do take military action against each other.
These guys may be involved as mercenaries but I'm still in the spitballing phase...
Thats all for now, I have started work on an Admech "Librarian" character but I'm away for work this week so no pics yet...
See you next time...

Still here, I guess I post monthly now...
First up some nobles:
Commodore Saehulf:
Uniform heavily inspired by Royal Navy, despite the beret, seeing as he's in the Imperial Navy.
Also settled on a basing style, Hereward gets a similar one.
Next up Inquisitor Gloria:
She got her rosary beads and =][= sigil but it's on the border of how small I can actually make things.
Her leaf spring leg was a last minute addition when I suddenly remembered she only had one leg.
Rather amusingly, whilst gluing her down, the way I made the leg caused her to shoot off her base when the glue failed.
She also get to show off the little bit of terrain I've put together for the party shots.
Lady Eadgifu Beorhtic gets an update:
Started as an attempt to do ruffles, didn't go well so now its fur...
I think it changes the cut of the original dress to something more interesting, now just need to pick a colour, maybe pink? I don't think I've painted anything pink...
+++
Onto some WiPs:
Trash wastes biker got his arm sculpted:
Bit bulky but I'm happy with it
The AdMech "librarian":
They'll be representing a scientist group interested in cataloguing artifacts. probably not going to turning up to any parties as they're too rough looking
Not happy with the staff, tried a "not Jaffa" replacement, but still not happy, may get rid of it completely.
Or a cane...
+++
Back on Necromunda:
My rescue team gets their second man:
This guy is bringing the roll up stretcher to put the casualty in really pleased with how this guy came out
Also the casualty:
Trying to keep them vague enough to be man or woman as well as not readily apparent what thier injury is
Now I think about it, I'm gonna need to do a casualty in a stretcher now...
Anyway I have a body and hands for the Entry Controller, the final member of the rescue team, but I'm going to need to sculpt the arms.
+++
Misc stuff:
Painted up some terrian:
Tried to hide the Orky bits with rust and cutting it off, now that I've finished it occurs to me I could put some tarps over the worst offenders to add some ties to the Trash Wastes Bandits...
Also started a pallet of Jerry cans:
Don't know why, just an idea that came to me.
There will be a tarp over the top so the plasticard will be disguised.
Also transferred some paints:
I know it seems like Heresy moving the Vallejo paints into GW pots, but there is a reason.
Basically, the fluorescent paints are so thick that I have issues squeezing the paint out. Also I can't mix them very well in thier original bottles.
Instead I used the dropper bottles for stuff that I don't want to be sticking a paint brush in such as mediums...
+++
Lastly it was my birthday today:
So whatever hobby plans I've got are going out the window for the next month...
See you next time...

Happy Birthday! Looks like a nice assortment of distractions to keep busy with!
Very nice work all around. The rescue team member is excellent- nice combination of adaptation, scratch building and sculpting- the best example of what we do here at Dakkadakka.
I can see the ruffles in the sculpted dress, but agree that it could go as fur also and look darn good. And pink, definitely pink!
Keep on keepin' on, man!

Nice greenstuff work. I really need to get better.
I try to practice by making duffel bags and bed rolls, but they all seem to end up looking like French baguettes.
Bonus points for the trompe l'oeil marble floors.

Post by: Guardling
Hey hey that time again...
Meer_cat: Thank you, the rescue team is something I do IRL so I am fully aware of their inaccuracies so that I could actually build it and keep the 40k vibes...
Tommygun1918: Thanks, my main problem with greenstuff is I always do all or nothing instead of building up layers.
the marble lines are just highly watered down white contrast on the black and druchii violet on the white, blob it on and the paint settles on the edges, very quick and easy...
So its been a month for me mostly centered around having a probable siezure about a week after my last post.
Physically I'm fine, but the better parts of my job require me to not have seizures (like, legally) so anxiety is up this month despite how good about it my bosses have been...
Spent most of this month making rather than painting seeing as the stars have to align for me to comfortably hold a paint brush right now
+++
So first up been working on my CSR Team:
Got an Entry Controller built:
Arguably the most important member of the team, an Entry Controller is the person that has the final say on who enters a confined space as well as documenting everything going on.
On a good shift they're the one doing most of the work (on paper at least)
The Team leader got another pass of green stuff to make them look closer to regular miners and the Second Man got himself a new thumb, he now keeps plants in his free time...
Also I vaguely mentioned doing a casualty in a strecher so, to my great surprise, I actually did it:
I think this is probably the most involved I have ever been with making a model, definitely on the border between scratch build and conversion.
Going more for vibes than accuracy in order to keep the Warhammer look, also it's easier (:
I did try and use plasticard for the stretcher but I couldn't get it to bend the way I needed without tearing so instead gone with some heavier paper.
+++
Also made this:
Don't ask what it is, I don't know...
Mainly just throwing some of OSJCs bits together with a centaur theme, but I think I can have the head or the arms, not both...
+++
So on to the Left at the Bottom of the Garden...
I decided I needed a background for photos and had a box that I was planning to use for a Grillet box
So first thing, I did a cover:
Got some stamps together and used some wooden letters to do a simple print and then threw some other bits in. I'm not 100% happy with the result to be honest, but I'm now to far in to fix it...
Inside is a bit different:
Started with a quick paper mock up so I could get to see what I would want to do. Decided to keep the tree separate seing as i have a bunch of Mantic ones that fit.
The well would be in the way to much, but I might make a removable one later
I then filled in the space with foam core, doing the back floor at an angle so that it sits level when the box is open.
the house is made from sign board with the stone work etched in with a pen and lollipop stick woodwork.
House was kept separate for painting and glued in last.
The main ground area is model railway ballast mixed with Mod Podge with the brown path being GW texture paint.
The ground was then painted several shades of brown and drybrushed with a biege before being liberally covered in static grass...
I also added a 1/35 tap and (cut down) spade to the wall for a bit of interest.
You may notice that there is no roof and thats because I planned to do a thatched roof and then forgot about it...
Anyways on to painting where I tried to do my bestest smoothest painting and decided on no metalic paints or washes
The old woman who lives in the woods:
A Cloth Wolf - Snarling:
+++
In other hobby news, I'm playing Space Marine 2.
It's good fun and I am mostly enjoying it, but I find it very hard even on easy, there's a lot of buttons you need to press while fighting and the screen gets busy quickly.
Vibes are great though and I do feel like a space marine even if I have earn almost every kill on a synapse creature...
That's all for now, see you next time!

Sorry to hear about your possible seizure. I wish you a swift recovery. I love that bizarro centaur servitor thing. I think both the armed and the head should stay. It's such an eccentric 40k thing to do. Also, I really love all of these conversions. I love the story behind them all. Nobility models and dressed down Inquisitors are such a cool and missing aspect of this hobby. There's not enough regular civilian models on the market.
Entry controller model is coming out great. Such a cool and characterful idea. The cottage, weird grandma, and cloth wolf all came out great. I am 100% here for all of this neat stuff.

Hope the seizure turns out to not be the case, either way, wishing you good health! Loving the Left at the end of the Garden stuff, I’ve not seen them before, but they’re very cool. The display box is super cool too, the smooth surfaces are a great style for the minis. Good luck finishing the cottage roof and well

Heya, thanks for the kind words, no need to worry.
I (possibly) had the type of seizure nobody notices and has low risk of injury. The only reason I noticed was because it happened outside.
Still waiting on a specialist for a brain scan to confirm though.
I'm told that most people who have a seizure never have another, so if it was one, I just need to wait out the "cool down" period before I can drive or enter confined spaces.
@Warboss_Waaazag: I did sculpt a bit of a gap filling hood on to the centaur but then the cat killed it and its been on the back shelf since.
@Gobert: There's so many cute minis in the range, gonna have to collect them all before they go OoP
+++
So what have I been up to?
Made an attempt at paint some kittens from Left at the Bottom of the garden:
Tried to go with a fat quarter vibe, but my hand tremors where too bad and I wasn't happy with the spots so stopped for a while
+++
Followed up on my idea to add tarps to my junk piles:
First attempt is masking tape with mod podge, but it didn't work very well...
Second try used "sniper tape" which looked better, had a nice texture and dried more solidly with the mod podge.
Painted up the jerry can pallet and the tarps:
Happy with the results, but only now just realised I painted all the tarp the same colour... Whoops
+++
Big thing this month is I've finally bought an Arvus lighter:
I've wanted one since they first came out seeing as its a "civilian" vehicle...
First thing I did was paint the pilot:
They've obviously redone the molds for this and the master was 3D printed excepting the pilot.
Still plenty of warping to deal with though:
So I put it in a pot of hot water and got the wings flat.
Didn't do so well with the fuselage though, it went from slight warping on one axis to slightly less warping on two axes.
A bit of gap filling and a coat of primer later and you can barely tell:
Not shown is I didn't put the cockpit divider in place and did a bit of carving to make it less obvious. Now you can see straight through the cockpit and out the rear hatch.
Went for a grey and red colour scheme, and tried an above cloud level base:
I used a sponge to stipple thinned grey over black which when repeated with lighter colours gave an interesting texture.
Tried to use contrast for the red but it didn't work out well so I masked off the stipes and repeated the sponge technique.
Engines got a heavy drybrush of leadbelcher and then a wash of black contrast.
Base was a random idea that I had and got fixated on, didn't want to have to pick between Necromunda or Beorht themed.
Basically just scraps of cotton interfacing glued down around some cut off bits of pipe. Unfortunately it looks a lot better in the photo than IRL
I then used washes and contrast paints to grime it up as well a bit of black for scuffs and panel lines.
On the ground:
In the air:
Gonna solve the problem of not liking the base by not using it, also not a fan of the connector for the flying base.
+++
Also been working on my CSR team
Casualties are made:
Also built a tripod to help get a body out of a hole:
+++Tri-Ind+++
Specialising in underground mining, promethium processing and industrial cleaning, Tri-Ind often employs specialised confined space rescue teams.
The knowledge that such a CSR team is on its way is enough to encourage workers to happily enter areas that others would not. Failing that, there is always the promise of an open bar to keep work progressing...
+++
Also kinda following the Confined Space thing, started making a ZM board with a raised area that I can hide a confined space in:
Ignore the blurry ZM floor, it fell as I took the picture.
plan is to build it as a storage tank with walls on the tile side and open on the edges so you can see the ribbing and potentially move models in.
I'm using some Mantic pipe ends to make some removable tank lids for the tileside walls.
That's all for now

Great update Guardling! The kittens look super cute, look forward to seeing the rest of the gang.
That Arvus Lighter looks great, the sponging of the grey really does give a lovely texture. It must be a great focal point of your display shelf now.
The Confined Space team is great, I love the idea that they’re all for show to motivate the menials to go to more dangerous spots! The injured one looks great as a drunk in the bar as well!

Wow. Amazing work. The conversions really tell a story in each individual model. I'm totally stealing your tripod idea for scenery in the future.
As far as thinking about mercenary companies or independent city states, it is completely reasonable that there would be 'God-Emperor fearing' but not necessarily following, nations on the same planet, especially if the Governor is incredibly corrupt and can't really take them over or enforce his will (as seems likely), as long as every pays the tithe necessary. Integrating them might be more trouble than it is worth to the local leaders.

@Gobert: thanks, unfortunately I don't have a permanent display shelf for the arvus.
I'm also super annoyed that they just announced a plastic Arvus, gonna need at least two.
Also, I hate to say it, but the CSR for show is a real thing in some places. I've been to a site with "roaming CSR" and seen their van, it was empty...
Is it grimdark if its just real life?
@Blockade23: Thanks! As for Beorht they're more "Imperium fearing" than "Emperor fearing" but are slowly adding imperial ideology and technology across the system.
I'm representing that with Old English words versus bad Latin for the Imperium
+++
So what have I been up to?
Well sadly I had to put down the cat, it wasn't unexpected given her age but it did happen suddenly.
On an unrelated note, she got on to my terrain shelf and knocked a while bunch off. Turns out I had left a pack of cat treats up there and she had knawed it open.
So because of that I have been fixing things, this has reminded me of bits I have neglected for a while...
First up, a new sideways plasma thingy-ma-jig:
The Platform on the othe side needs reattaching seing as it is required for stability .
As an experiment, I used cheap craft paint to prime and I do not like the results.
Also up is a hab unit:
It had a couple of walls pop off but I got it fixed and painted.
Interior done:
I had made the tables with magnets to be removable and retroactively did the same with my old red hab:
This makes the terrain set from the Ash Wastes box set my most complete terrain set now, only an empty platform left to finish...
Lastly on the list of major casualties was my horse servitor:
Pretty much all the resin bits snapped somewhere and I was unable to recover half an arm so it got bit of a rebuild.
And then I decided to do another rebuild:
And then some paint:
Whats with the wierd base arrangement I hear you ask?
Because I found a way to make it weirder 😄
+++
Back on Beorht, the nobles get some help:
Just some background servants, inspired by my Delaque server.
Giving me Serpian vibes from Dandadan despite the differences and I can't help but hear the theme tune every time I look at them...
Introducing the honourable Lady Eadgifu Beorhtic:
As the governors wife, she is well aware of her position as a display piece. Because of this, she takes great delight in causing small mischiefs, chief among them is informing Inquistor Gloria of events that other nobles do not wish her to attend.
Really happy with how she came out, I think the paint was called screamer pink with white added for highlights. The lighter pink was also used the base for the white fur trim, while the stole was painted white from Celestra Grey.
So to be honest, Beorht was supposed to a mix of Stalker, Witcher and some Olde English wierd stuff and the nobles were bit of a distraction.
Luckily, with Stalker 2 finally out, I am getting inspired to go back out to the zone...
Finally got the PDF ready for patrol:
Still a little work to do, mainly on the bases and whatever I can find that looks too wrong
The Trash Wastes heavy has got some paint on him:
Forgot I hadn't finished the yellow hood and I think I want to paint the armour on his legs red rather than leaving them grey.
This was originally supposed to be a "hunting suit" for Hereward and was very much inspired by the exosuits from stalker
The Librarian gets some paint:
Unsure how to base them, as they're not going to be standing around in the mud, nor are they going to be anywhere near the nobles.
This guy would be filling the same sort of role as Sakharov from Stalker, sat in his little lab...
And bam! I think I found an name for them...
And onto some wierdness, a will-o'-the-wisp:
I'm sure it has some perfectly rational explanation...
+++
And Finally for this post, I finished up the cloth Kittens:
There's an "adult" bean bag cat still in the box, I think I'm gonna paint them as my late cat...
See you next time!

I love the tiny bottle and paper debris! For my own stuff, I use tiny fragments of paper, toothpicks, and foam as a sort of industrial debris. For me it isn't meant to be identifiable as anything other than generic decay, but I think your use of what look like discarded cigarette packs and other consumer garbage works much better, especially for a Necromunda style setting. The place feels lived in.
I really like these details!

Post by: Guardling
Hey hey, so not a great start to this year...
I did try to do a recap of everything I have done last year, and an updated paint queue, and a plan for the year, and lots of other stuff...
So much stuff that I got overwhelmed and did none of it...
Anyways thanks for the kind words everyone and yes Gobert, I have been adding UV/fluorescent paint to anything that is supposed to glow. I keep meaning to get a UV light to help it pop in photos.
First up is the Bean Bag Cat from Statuesque Miniatures:
While it seemed fine when I painted it, I'm not happy with this one, the more I look at the photos the less I like.
The paint is too thick, seams look wrong and the stiches are awful especially when I compare the model to the others that I've done.
I think I'm going to strip and repaint, it doesn't feel like a fitting tribute to the late Sushi Cat right now.
Also from Statuesque, I got the Letters From Habernagerie (no cloth goblins) and Ghosts of Yellowfield House sets for Christmas, so I better start prepping them for painting soon.
Speaking of Christmas, I was gifted a wet pallet from Army Painter as well as some paints, maybe I should try practicing with them...
+++
More Christmas presents:
Another terrain crate from Mantic, this time some gothic scenary. I immediately hid from the family and started painting these with both Beorht Nobles and D&D in mind.
+++
Beorht PDF are done for now:
Going for a more "Realistic" approach in that there are no bright metals where posible, and giving the weapons a mix of "bakelite" and green polymer furniture. I think I may need an edge highlight of Leadbelcher to make a distinction between the black polymer body and the metal painted black.
A shame that thier magazine pouches aren't very visible after all the effort that went into them.
Also on Beorht, Zakharov gets some bodyguards:
Should make it totally obvious that he's really a well known Techpriest.
The weapons are Hellguns with covers over them to keep the real weapons scheme going and let everyone know they belong to the Adeptus Mechanicus...
They got some modified Zone Mortalis bases:
Gives them a nice "I work in a lab" vibe whilst being similar to other Beorht bases
+++
Back on this blogs namesake, Necromunda, I got some of my (admittedly small) Forgeworld pile of Shame.
First up some Phyrr Cats:
First one had a nice hunting pose, so I tried to find some sort of underhive "grass" for it to be stalking around.
They're just drybushed White from Celestria Grey with the red being brown/red contrast mix. I then came back with some really thin grey paint (Glazing?) to help the shadows and a thin wash of Brown around the feet.
Next up, some Sheen Birbs:
I dislike the current flying bases so tried to have them flying around bits of scenery.
Also broke and lost the legs off the bird carrying the rat while prepping the mini so I left some visible pins to fix it.
They're all pinned and surprisingly sturdy.
Guilders Scal and Coss of the Guild of Coin got rebuilds:
They're a bit more distinct now with Scal (Left) having a pistol and Coss (Right) having a baton and cuffs. Mercer (centre) got some extra washes on his face.
Despite being very similar, these are full rebuilds with the original models broken down to provide few bits. Pouches and weapons are from the Enforcers, arms are old Cadian, legs are mauled Catachan. I think the stun baton is Skitarii...
Last of the Necromunda denizens today:
A Representative of the guild of power, thinking of calling him Sweb...
He's the guy in charge of the two Lumen headed Servitors on their hunt for Pinger
Chaos cultist body, the one with flamer and big hood, he gets some Negavolt cultist bits and a nomad backpack and some green stuff straps.
And finally for this update:
Been putting together the ruined ZM set that I've had since it released.
Also mixing in the ruined wall sections I made a looong time ago to help it stretch.
I spent quite a while getting this wall to be collapsed in the same way as the column, and in hindsight I maybe shouldn't of added the rubble pile to the floor as it looks a bit silly when I stack it on something else...
+++
Plans for the future?
Hahahaha
I do have one of those Palanite/Elysian buggies but I'm currently unsure what to do with it.
I'm thinking about painting more Palanites, but I want to tone down the amount of Hazard stripes they currently have.
I do want to pick up a Valkyrie at some point for my Beorht PDF.
Got some Zone Mortalis terrain to paint as well as like twelve of the tiles that I should really start on...

What Miala saw:
With its claws that tap
and jaws that snap
its Milisaur!
With the leathery slap
of wings that flap
its Ripperjack!
With its pitter-pat
and chittery chat
its Giant rat!
With its web that traps
and bite that saps
its Spider!
With its vine that wraps

its Strangle weed!

So first things first, I barely remembered to actually submit Pinger into Scumathon under Hottest Hiver which is for mainly civilians.
I could of also submitted her under Most Storied as she features in four of my stories now, but there'd be too much outside context.
Also I forgot.
She's got a bit of fluff on her sub, but I'll save reposting that for when she's painted...
+++
So with that in mind we stay on Necromunda for the rest of this post;
First up I have painted up my ruined terrian.
Two story wall:
Short wall:
Corner:
Ruined wall transition:
Mural and gate:
And as an added bonus:
My fourth floor tile out of, er, sixteen?
If it even counts as a tile given its mostly sump.
Unfortunately I ran out of the lovely dark green foundation paint I have been using so that's gonna put a hold on the two future sump tiles I have planned.
+++
Sheen Birds done:
Started with a dark grey drybrush over black and then layers of grey.
Underwings got some purple and blue ink for a slightly metallic shiny look.
Metals are my usual Mournfang/Leadbelcher/Nuln with some additional Dirty Down rust in spots
Quite happy with them, a fine addition to my bestiary...
+++
At some point earlier in the year I went and spent to much money in my FLGS and heres one of the things I got:
I'm prepared to call them finished but I am tempted to add some more colour, maybe hazard stripes...
The other thing I got:
Yeah.
Painting the inside before I carry on putting it together.
Interior is Steel Legion Drab drybrushed up to white with some Celestria Grey panels, canopy is dark grey...
Tried using a green contrast on the seats to be lazy quick but it does not look very nice, will paint over it next time I remember...
+++
I had a Goliath Truck that needed fixing:
The railings had completely snapped off so I made a new set from garden wire hiding the dodgy joins with some fabric tape.
While I was at it, I did a bit of weathering with one of the texture paints seeing as it had a very dry matt finish
