Beautiful work - Orcs are seldom portrayed as more than savage beasts, this is fantasic, plus I love the Rackham and Ilyad influences.

Miniatures look great. I'm curious as to what is meant by 4 to 10 figures for an average force however. Does that mean that 4 is the minimum and 10 is the maximum? Or that the average points cost means 4 elite guys for some factions and 10 for the lower cost guys? Following up how typical are the starter sets in regards to game size? Low end, high end, inbetween?

I'm also concerned about the costs of the add ons. When a single figure is being discounted down to $13, what is its rrp? And how much does it add on to my army?

Yes, my orcs are brave and proud protectors of Isbran... of course there is something dark in their history at least in Scarlet Watch. Second part of the army (not on this KS) will be much closer to paladins.

Number of miniatures. - well, this is always important issue. I playing skirmishes for a very long time and there is always a problem when numerous army of bad fighter is beating elite. This is something what should not happen. Both armies should fight on equal footing.

So, I made upper limits:

Scarlet Watch (orcs) - max. 10 models - most of the time elite & tough fighters

Howling Horde (barbarians) - max. 14 models - this is really interesting army, because you can make something close to swarm... or play using specialists - warriors with a lot of skills and tactical possibilities, but not so tough as orcs

Alliance of the Bat (dwarves and wulfkin) - max 12 - if you are using more wulfkin than you will be playing less models


Now word about prices - well, Norsgard miniatures are really big and this rises costs. However, prices will be on similiar level to the Infinity (which is great game in my humble opinion - well, just a side note)

I hope that I answered on all your questions.

What scale are the minis at? They look really nice, but I'd like them to be compatible with other minis in my collection.

Would love to be able to buy individual minis, such as the mohawk barbarian chick, Mistress of the Hunt, the Scout, etc.
Also, more barbarians/norse without ridiculous amounts of muscle would be nice.

Thank you for answering my questions, alas I'm a nosy bugger. Are there any more than the three factions you've mentioned planned for this kickstarter? If a third faction is unlocked (or more) will there be some sort of get everything pledge?

At first I thought, more scantily clad fighting women? Really?

Then I saw the men next to them had even less on. And that the proportions on the women were pretty reasonable.

So great job, I'm now actually interested in what you're offering.

@Zond here we go with answer on your questions: Yes, I have already plans for next 3 factions, but they will not show during this KS, because we are still working on concept arts and we barely started working on rules. So, we will end this campaign with 3 factions (hopefully). Yes, we are thinking about such pledge.


By the way campaign is goind really good and first stretch goal is already unlocked!

With the Armsmaster unlocked we are now moving towards the rest of the Alliance of the Bat. We've got Orcs, Barbarians and Dwarf Wolves (actually stunty Werewolves would be awesome), but what's the unique selling point which you feel differentiates you from other fantasy games and settings?

I hear there's a campaign system.

And some really great looking dwarves.

Those are both enough to pique my interest.

Mixing wolves and dwarves part of the same faction is an interesting choice.

@Zond - here we go with answer on your question. First of all armies are not typical. Orcs are proud templars not just mere brutes. You have also dwarves and wulfkin in one army. Barbarians... ok they are just barbarians. I think that game mechanic is totally different. You are rolling a lot of dice in single test. During combat you can modify your combat stats thanks to different combat styles.... well, we are working now on movie. I will let you guys know it will be ready.
Also we have campaign system - I guess nothing new for those of us who are long enough in this hobby. However, for new game it is quite rare. Norsgard has also wonderful arts. Well, I will not tell that this is the best game, because it is not my way of working. However, it is for sure worth to try if you like the theme and I belive that you will not be disappointed as player. As a painter for sure you will enjoy the minis.

What he said about the head. The "body" already looks pretty good and I love to see the axe handle with a proper wood texture but that head reaaaaally makes the model shine.

Any chance of getting some miniatures in full Armor suits?

Actually, is there any chance you would consider an 'all-barbarians' or 'all-orcs' bundle, where you get ALL the figures from a single faction?

I.e. for example taking the Mistress render and scaling it to proportion besides an Dark Elf, Chaos Marauder, Empire Wizard and a Gor...

@Piston Honda - now it will be impossible to play pure wulfkin force. They lack commander now. After releasing all miniatures from the rulebook wulfkin will get commander and than you will be able to play full wulfkin army. Now you can muster 0 -4 Wulfkin Warriors, 0 -1 Armsmaster (there is an army variant which allows to take 2nd Armsmaster), 0 -1 Silver Fury (she-mage). We have in plans Iron Guard (dwarves) they will wear really heavy armor.

@Gohkm - we can think about it. However, we do not have many add-ons and I do not see a point for making such bundle.

Yea, loving that Mistress of the Hunt something fierce! I have to admit, I am trying to not pay too much attention to this just now, but some good renders and prints will draw the line between getting the Mistress and a few werewolves and getting an entire faction of barbarians for me. RiTides can attest to my unhealthy obsession with collecting barbarian tribesmen...

As for werewolves, are there unpainted images of the figures floating around somewhere?

The mistress looks awesome... Except the gigantic boob suspenders. Any chance for a version with a different torso?

@Mymearan - no we will keep like it is now. Let's assume that sculptor had worser day and need something to cheer about. However, speaking more seriously some elements have to be bigger on the sculpt, because details are planned for much smaller scale than the render on the screen. I belive that after printing it will look fine (although boobs will be still big).

Give me few more days with rules. We already working on a movie showing close combat example. I think that this the most important part of the game... All in all that is the reason why we meet on the battlefield.

Next week I hope that I will show wulfkin warrior. He will be much stronger build and his face will be wider.

Here it is wulfki warrior concept art. For she-mage you will have to wait until next week (I can't show everything at once). Also if nothing unexpected will happen first WIPs of wulfkin warrior will be also during next week.

I think that it will happen during this week. Soon, we will add the new pledges (Alliance of the Bat) and than we will think about pledge including all things.

Reminds me greatly of Confrontation.

No wonder - most of the concept artists made in the past arts for Confrontation.

I just backed this, so many appealing elements especially the narrative game play and of course these sculpts.

My faith in smaller companies, however, is tempered by caution. Some bad experiences as of late. "Slow and steady wins the race" Norsgard -- I love the simplicity of your Kickstarter. I hope it stays within its means.

For sure idea for this campaign will not change. I hope that we will reach around 200 backers and than everything planned for this will be unlocked. I want to get she-wulfkin mage unlocked during campaign (she will be after orc scout) and resculpt one miniature for Howling Horde - Hlle Huntress and than all of 3 armies will be playable and I will be more than happy.

I hate to be "that guy," but could you explain shipping to me? Do the $45 pledges cover US shipping? I'm super interested in the Alliance starter, as soon as it's available.

@Guildsman no problem . KS has changed recently methods of paying for pledges. So, in case of shipping to US you will have to pay +$15 compared to pledge costs on the left side. Please take a look on graphic version of the pledges. You gave you total cost wit shipping. Just to be sure that you will know how much you will have to pay.

You can already make a pledge for Alliance of the Bat starter set. There is no graphic for it, because I am still waiting for first renders of wulfkin warrior. I need few days more.

In each starter set you will find quick start rules.

Very interesting. If the rest of the wulfkin sculpts are as good as the ones we've seen so far, I'll be in for an Alliance starter at the $45 level.

That was true of many of the female Wolfen in Confrontation, so it was a bit expected what with it being the same artist and what not.

As I promised.... Wulfkin Warrior and Dwarf Lord - both models are still WIPs adn both are from Alliance of the Bat starter set.

The wulfkin looks good, although the tongue sticking out past her teeth makes it look like he is coming in for a little lick. Which would probably still be scary, but not perhaps in the way you are going for

Ridiculous Tongues are a GW (and sometimes PP) 'thing' that I wish would go away.

That tongue is pretty damned close to the actual size of a dog's tongue. Just barely hanging out when the mouth is open.

Yea, the size isn't really the issue, but rather the placement. Most mammals pull back their tongues when they open their mouths for anything other than panting and licking. For example:





Note the tongues are bunched up towards the back of the mouth, away from the front teeth that are going to be removing flesh. You don't want the flesh to be your own

Aside from the tongue issue(which doesn't bother me), I think these are looking to be some of the better werewolf miniatures out there.

Really big thank you about the tongue... Such comments are really helpful, thanks for good examples I know that we will make small change in that case before it will go for printing. By the way we will soon make another update... and this wulfking will be added for free to Champion and higher pledges.

Axe is already smaller when you look at last render (red wulfkin). For sure it needs a little more attention like sharp edge. We will also make a little thinner, but it will really small difference. I want to avoid problem with to thin parts.

@Piston Honda - more or less Isbran is cold tundra with some volcanic areas... It is not the only one continent. However, I think that for long time we will stay here. There are so many places to explore... like caves in volcanic areas. We still need to introduce one special race responsible for current tragedy of dwarves.

Have you considered making the skull/fang detailing an inlay instead of an extrusion? I like the idea of putting in some nice detail on the ax head, and by making it look like a carving it won't add awkward thickness to the ax head. Plus it will save a little material, which isn't a bad thing over a few thousand runs

Those raspy buggers are no where to be seen when they are biting, however!

Thank you very much for comment about our dwarfs. Speaking about cavalry. We already have really great support from our backers and for really unknown company we can be only really happy with resulst. For sure I cannot ask for more from all of you.
Orc rider is really hard project, because it is not for the game. So, I cannot justify to use a budget reserved for a game in his case. Also making really big mini means really high printing costs than some parts will be casted in resin and some in metal... well, we can do it, but we want to do it with good style. I still have high hopes that last 2 days will make a difference and we still have last aces in our sleeve like another wulfkin warrior ... However, I can promise you one thing - you will see a render of rider and his mount during updates after campaign. I already decided with the sculptor that we are going to sculpt this one... we postponed it so many times already. If it will be possible we will try to release him. If not... we will fight for the rider in next year. Do not worry I will not allow to waste this wonderful art .

I'm hoping to go for all the factions, but it might have to be a dollar pledge for post kickstarter goodness.

I like the general feeling of your models but somehow the dwarfs look like regular humans with short legs, the proportions are slightly off.

@Zond - well, it will be awesome it would help to unlock Orc Rider, but we will also give our backers time to make decision after KS. I want to send surveys in January and than everyone will have a chance to decide what will want to take and increse pledge if needed.

@tommse - They are much wider in shoulders and proportions are slightly different as you said. Also they are lower than humans. We just do not want to make another standard dwarf and due this fact it is closer to humans.

First of all selected Barbarian Warrior pledge - you will get starter set for Howling Horde: $45 + $15 Shipping = $60

I assume that you are talking about Mistress of the Hunt - $12

We have currently 3 wulfkin miniatures unlocked: Armsmaster, Silver Fury and Wulfkin Warrior. Each wulfkin costs $18. So, for 3 wulfkins you will have to pay $55.

In total it will be $60 + $12 + $55 = $127

Indeed, there is no such pledge. Just pick a pledge Rider or higher and add $45 to your pledge. After Kickstarter will end we will send you a survey in which you will be able to mark Black Friday offer.

Basically only new backers from Saturda and Sunday (29-30/NOV) will not get Black Friday offer. I decided that there is no point for making such pledge, because it will be confusing for our current backers. I hope that I answer clear enough on your question.

Final hours of the campaign already started... Well, this is high time to say that we will not unlock orc rider during THIS campaign. So, guys please lower your pledges if you already gave money for cavalry. Do not worry we will try another day.

However, let's make last big stand and unlock last orc warrior from the rulebook - Ravn Skaller ($15). We have to reac 24.5K to unlock the last warrior during this campaign. However. if we will reach to goal than you will get also resin crow miniature. Crow will be KS exclusicve.

FYI everyone -- you can add on this sweet orc model and Raven for $15 if they stay solid at 22K.

I received today my Mistress of the Hunt and Silver Fury

Beautiful quality, the MotH looks perfect with lots of tiny details. The horns are separated so you can choose how you want her to look. Hornless or, well, pinning hell I suppose The only mold lines I see I have to remove are on the head, everything else looks clean. Really awesome quality.

SF has big sprues sticking out of her and that's it! She's one BIG lady, filled with details and all smooth except for the sprues.

Fantastic models, great KS, I'm glad I helped out! Awesome work

My Horde minis I had ordered (after the kickstarter closed) came through today and I am 'jaw to the floor' with the quality of the casting, the detail and the sculpts.

I want to tell you all just what a great quality product these minis are and so beautiful I am entirely daunted to paint them up.
