Hey everyone, we are back with Killadelphia Open GT in the greater Philadelphia Metropolis. Website is www.killadelphiaopen.com

The KILLAdelphia Open is a Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournament presented by Stomping Grounds Games and Hobbies along with the help of Team Stomping Grounds. All players who enter the event will receive a gift bag of goodies along with a custom maelstrom deck specific to the tournament.

1850 point Battlepoint tournament
6 rounds (3 rounds each day)
3 hour rounds
2 Source Maximum- Self Ally is allowed
All Detachments are considered 0-1 Unique
Forge world 40k Approved unites (No FW Detachments/army Lists)
No Superheavies or Gargantuans other then those in Codex: Imperial Knights are permitted, (No FW Knights)
Adamantium Lance is not permitted
Lords of war and Fortification are 0-1 per army. (Note this is per ARMY not detachment)
Fortifications permitted are: Skyshield, Bastion, Aegis Defense Line and Vengeance Weapon Batteries
We will be using missions that Team Stomping Grounds has worked on with a link to packet and FAQ to follow below.

The missions packet and FAQ will be finalized by March 16th with the exception of the release of a new legal source after that.

ARMIES ARE REQUIRED TO BE 3 COLOR AND BASED.

How will you guys be running O'Vesa? Able to join as the last IC or not able to join groups that contain another IC already? Didn't see any ruling on him within your FAQ.

When you say "two sources," do you really mean "two detachments"? You pretty much run out of sources after you take the main rulebook to get a Combined Arms Detachment and then units from your codex.

Those are detachment based restrictions for list building. One of their documents on the Google docs folder says two sources, which works a bit different and I'd like a little clearing up.

Quick question. For the chosen secondaries, how many do you get to choose each game? 3?

Can you clarify, a source is generally a cad, detachment, ally, a formation, or a data slate (minus cypher and belekor).

I think they're up to 20ish signed up and the cap is 64, so there's plenty of spots left at this point. I need to sign up myself.

Been playing through some of the missions in the packet and I have two more questions -

1) when do you place the objectives for each mission? I assume after terrain is placed but it's not clear, and placing them before will certainly.impact where terrain goes.

2) do summoned demon troops count for the total number you need to kill if you select the "kill all enemy troops" secondary?

Justin is correct, if you sing up now you will 100% get a spot.

1) you place objectives after terrain set up

2) summoned troops count for slay the rank and file.

Hey guys, I am hoping to make this my first tournament.

I am intending to run a Daemon army with CSM allies.

Is there anything I should be aware of, other than summoned "troops" not counting as Objective Secured?

Edit: And are high str/ap sort of a "must have" for these tournaments, to be anywhere close to competitive?

Honestly if this is your first event, bring whatever you want and have fun, soak it all in, will be a fantastic experience.

If you live in the area you are more then welcome to come out and test for the event with us.

As the man said, if it's your first tournament just take what you feel does the job best and (importantly) that you're most familiar with so you know your rules pretty much inside and out. Otherwise just enjoy the experience, learn how the east coast meta works, and have fun! Every region has its own tournament scene, Killadelphia has a good rep for enjoyable opponents and rules.

I'm about an hour and a half away here in Central NJ. What days and times are friendly games usually played?

Looking at the schedule - and knowing how tired folks usually are after 3 or 4 straight games - Sat/Sun might be tough to work a "friendly" match in. Most folks are ready to grab dinner after that third game Saturday. But if you ask around you might find someone who will take you up on a Friday night friendly match. Best of luck!

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays the store is open late everyday so if you make the drive you should have no issue getting games in. We actually have a few people who drive at least an hr to play at the store. The grp is a great mix of casual and competitive players.

I'm guessing that the Necron FAQ is somewhat redundant now

Is a Decurion formation going to be counted as a single source or will the component formations each count as a separate source?

Are we going to be using the faq rules for Necron Sentry Pylons or is it being changed to reflect how the death ray works in the Necron Codex?

The FAQ does seem a bit out of date

I don't mind that the faq is a little out of date. To be expected, really. Just not sure what toys to bring to this party, and the question on how sources are counted and how pylons will work will help me decide.

What do you think needs to be addressed in the FAQ?

If you are asking about the new formations made up of other formations they, for example the decurion detachment, it will count as one source and you can replete formations in that detachment.

I will ask about the death rays

The necron section is written for the old codex. To be honest it should just be removed from the FAQ in case it causes confusion with players who don't own the new codex.

Anytime. We are having a meeting about the faq tonight, as far as we know nothing major has come up with the new cron book. If you have any specific issues please pm me or post them here. Still not sure about the death ray, I hope to have an answer tonight!

I purchased my ticket on PayPal. Do I just need to show you the receipt on my phone on the day of the event or is there a more formal process for checking in? Also, are you collecting lists before the event/is there a submission deadline?

I think TheEverling's point is that pretty much all of the faq only applies to the old necron codex. Are you allowed to use the old one at this event? If not, it should probably be removed.

RobPro is correct. If you can't use the old Necron codex at the event the necron section in the faq is redundant and should be removed to prevent confusion,

Nope the deadline was tomorrow, so we will be using the Old Eldar book. The new one will not be allowed.

Ni they arnt. And you don't have to base jetbike and skimmer bases.

Pylons will remain unchanged. Tho they are not quite as good as they were in our testing.

If you suspect an opponent of slow play, call a judge over and they will handle it accordingly.

Damn straight. If I have to play someone notorious for playing at the speed of a sloth I'm not going to wait until we're an hour into the game and only on turn 1. I'm getting a judge over immediately so I have a chance of actually playing a full game.

I hear you, but rest assured I know 3/4ths of the players who are signed up so far.. And I'm probably the slowest player out of everyone, and I always finish my games lol.

You guys making any changes to the elder codex? Its going to be interesting if not. Predictable, but interesting.

They are using the old codex because the new one wasn't out in time.

The cutoff to add anything new was April 16th so anything after the Skartii releases will not be legal for Killadelphia.

Also for Killadelhipa the durcurion and daemonkin special detchements will only count as one of your sources. We are getting to the wire, dont forget to sign up guys!

Woah, hold on. A Decurion now counts as two sources? My understanding was you were running army construction the same as Nova, and the last I saw Nova has a Decurion counting as a single source.

Up to now I've been working on that basis, and building an army accordingly. I.e. Decurion plus ally. Is this now not possible?

The only big one is ovessa will not be able to join a unit that has another ic in it.

Good to know. Is the Imperial Bunker allowed? Its identical to the Bastion, except its 15 pts cheap and doesn't come equipped with heavy bolters.

Not really identical to bastion but I agree, It's not on the list so I'm assuming it's not allowed? Also what's your rulings on taking things like escape hatches or the add ons like that for fortifications?

Just looking at the faq packet, the bunker is ok. Im not sure whether that's changed.

Escape hatches and such are out.

Mistake? Or was an exception made....for Eldar?

It is most likely their cutoff date for new material. They advised the new Eldar Codex was not in effect due to this and stands to reason the new IK codex would not be in effect either as it came out after the Eldar codex.

That is correct, new elder and new I knight codex were not legal. There was me knight primary payer the weekend, and 2-3 other layers with knights. Ad lance was also banned for killa

Tournament was awesome man, I ended up with (2nd) best Tyranids and had a blast. I'm also happy to never have to play your list again.

who was the guy the dark angels player that charged Defranza from scout.
That was such bull he was flat cheating he new exactly what he was doing.
He did not deserve to be on that top table for the finale game.

was great to see Defranza doing well with seer council its a lot harder that it used to be.

looking forward to seeing what he can do with the new codex

before we get into who cheated, who played cheesy list, and all the drama of whats broken and what should be allowed or not allowed in the 40k tourney universe, Is there a place we can see results and list played?

Thanks! It was a fantastic event, and a very well run one at that. (I wasn't there for the entire event though, I left after game 5...defranza knocked me out in round 4, and I was pretty whipped after this weekend!!)

Great event! Well run and very enjoyable.

That was a super fun event! I took 7th overall with DE/Eldar and had a great time. Will definitely go again next year.

I had a blast! Though if I might make one suggestion for next year I'd like to start Sunday's games earlier than Saturday's. Most of us were at the hotel and starting earlier would have meant being able to stick around for the end rather than hit the road to try and make it home before midnight.

6 great opponents and congratulations to Eric who edged me 12-8 in round 5 in the epic Necron on Necron battle which set him up to go undefeated all weekend. If anyone had any doubt about how resilient Necrons are, we managed 3 kill points each over 5 turns, all but one of them coming in close combat...

Post some Necron lists (or host them somewhere)

What were the first second and third place armies, names Aline don't help.

Matt defranza was running seer council with 3 wraith knights and a few swooping Hawks, Brandon Vallee was running bikes+LotD (not sure what was in list exactly), and Andrew gonyo had a crazy flesh tearers+AM army it was a lot of ignores cover squads in drop pods with wyvern back up.

Not sure on exact lists but those are the basics. The necron lists seemed to have a lot of destroyers and wraiths.

4 games Saturday and 2 Sunday might help those of us with 6+ hours drives, for sure.

I played Necrons but did not finish super-high. I will be posting a battle report at some point so keep an eye out!

We came from Pittsburgh and stays till Monday morning since it ended so late.
