This was something heavily requested on the recent Deadzone KS, hopefully you do well with it!

It's nice to see some attention being paid to civilians.

I always think it's a pretty over-looked area. There are plenty of fantasy / historical civilians, but very few options for sci-fi. I have plans for more if this project works out

Metal by default, but you can pledge for sets of resin masters if that's your thing!

Hmm, so any ideas on what will be next? I mean, I can understand your 'lack of enthusiasm' regarding stretch goals. But if those weren't a limitation, what kinda stuff would you like to do next?

1 random miniature. Lame. Only really want the two not-Harkonnens and stick preacher fellow. Guess Im waiting until retail.

I understand your frustration, but the limitation is dictated by mould costs and moulding arrangements for this kickstarter. As things stand, I will be using a production mould which can accomodate three sets of 6 figures. If I offer individual figures, it makes stock control very difficult, or requires individual production moulds (which would increase the mould cost 6-fold). If you only want those three figures (and pledged for 3 random figures), I would certainly do my best to accomodate any preference.

Pricey, but I may still buy in because those are awesome! Great concept art too!

I like these uncomplicated kickstarters without a ton of stretchgoals and tons of levels.

A shame that the single figure is random, but i understand the practical problems that necessitates it.

Erm, how is this Kickstarter not going to work? People have already pledged more than 3 times the needed amount of money needed. You're not going overboard with stretchgoals and add-ons, so all you need to do now is wait out the deadline and start production.

In other words: you're already way in! :-)

I think it's not over until the last backer has products in hand.

Also, running your first KS is always a scary ordeal.

Fair enough! But the scale in which this is done is rather small (just 6 models) compared to many other ones. So whilst there might still be some potential bumps along the way, I don't think it will be like some of the other Kickstarter projects we've seen coming along. :-)

Depends how well this does - If there are several thousand sets to send out, that's still quite a headache for the project creator (though the good kind )...

I for one would love to see a female scribe carrying some sort of portable cogitator.

Scribe does appear to be a popular choice though.

Really want some civilian figs and would like to back, but the figs are just too "heroically" proportioned or me. Looking at the Human Nobles male fig, the concept sketch looks great, but the sculpt shown below looks more like a dwarf than a human. Perhaps I am getting spoiled by many of the recent more humanly proportioned kickstarters, but I seem to be losing my taste for overly "heroic" figures.

The models' proportions are more akin to the old school proportions. The whole thing is a nod to the Rogue Trader era stuff of course. ;-)

This is a cool project so kudos, special interest award goes to mr croak and the Heir to the estate AKA the ugly baby for uniqueness, cant wait to do a scenario in which the baby and mother must escape the battle before they are annihilated..

Hi all, there's now less than 24 hours left on the Colony 87 Kickstarter. The project is fully funded, and it is likely that the figures won't see full retail release until next year, so if you want to pick a set up, now's the time to take a look!

I received the master casts earlier today, so we're all set for full production once the Kickstarter ends.

Not yet but I was told they'd be back on offer with this KS.

And when I asked he said we could buy directly from him or wait for the Kick Starter.

One suggestion I had was that besides offering them as Wave 1 and Wave 2, he also offer them as Noble Court and Market place. I can see myself wanting mutliple porters and mechanics but not multiple governors and advisers.

Went in for the Old and the New, tempted to add the spaceport bundle as well, esp since I suggested it

Hum, managed to snag an early bird pledge for the new ones. Shipping is quite reasonable as well, £33 isn't bad at all, especially when well over half of the models are quite nice.

I have the first round, yet to see paint... I love the new ones especially the welder.

Really love these figures, though they cost more than I am probably going to pay for single figures alas for the ones I don't like as much. At some point when i can pick and choose I'll surely get a number of them. As an FYI, I *THINK* the concept art has been up on Dakka for years for this project - a number of models we haven't seen yet are shown there that I would really like to see.

My vote goes to the fleeing family for wave 3

And mine goes to the administrators. The Imperium runs on these people!

Will Beck is the same artist, but the sketches above were from another project that I believe never came to fruition. It was after seeing those sketches that I got Will on board.

We have touched on some similar themes with Colony 87 though.

I ultimately went with the spaceport and the noble court, gets me all the figures and doubles of most of the laborers.

It actually funded in just over an hour KK! If the last KS trend is replicated, then we should end up at around 150 or so backers, which is perfect

Well that's been a crazy 12 hours or so...!

First up, a huge thank you for all your support! Over the course of the last 12 hours, pledges have been flying in faster than I can track.

We funded in about an hour and a half!

In around 12 hours, we've nearly reached the funding level from the first Kickstarter!

Backers were waiting to pledge as the project went live - we had 9 backers BEFORE I'd even advertised the Kickstarter anywhere!

So what happens over the next 29 days? I will be accelerating some of the process. I am exploring whether I can add anything else in, but this is only a possible option - I want to keep the project simple and deliverable.

Personally I'm all for keeping the campaign as lean and simple as possible, having been in a few campaigns now that keeps heaping on more and more extra content at the cost of keeping the delivery date in sight. Less moving parts means less that can go wrong.

Yeah I remembered from last time there'd be no stretch goals, they're keeping it at what they know they can deliver.

Which is fine with me.

Awesome new sculpts and concept drawings! There is something about this whole Colony 87 project that's just so very neat. Can't put my finger on it but I really like those minis. Especially the (Xeno-?) Botanist of the 2nd wave got me. That's worth the hassle of using my wife's credit card
I guess it's enough time till summer to come up with scenario ideas for them.

I have only painted Lord Greiss of wave 1 thus far but I can really recommend these high quality sculpts.

I honestly can't recommend enough getting in on these mins while you can.

I had not-buyer's regret on the first Kickstarter as soon as I saw some painted sculpts. From forum comments, I wasn't the only one.

Here we are then, closing in on the last 24 hours! You'll be pleased to hear that the freebie dice have been ordered, and that the masters of set 2 have been made. I'm hoping that we'll be going into production shortly after Easter.

I'm also delighted to say that John Pickford has juggled with his schedule, and has very kindly sculpted up an additional familiar in under a week!

The new familiar is a karakulak - a highly intelligent mid-sized space feline:

The karakulak will be included as part of the familiar pack at no additional cost, and will be provided to any returning backers (who automatically receive the familiar pack free) and those backers who have selected the familiar pack as an add-on.

I hope so, but they seem to be taking a slow but steady approach, no crazy strech goals and lots of time between projects. So i wouldn't hold my breath.

You'll all be pleased to hear that your packages are starting to be sent! I've caused a log-jam in the Post Office on a couple of occasions and can confirm that 44 packages have gone out, with a big pile ready for sending. I am aiming to post 20-40 packages per day, which means that some packages will go out in early July rather than June - hopefully you'll forgive a week or two delay?

@Kid Kyoto - that's a difficult question to answer. I'm still undecided on the 'if' bit of it. I never set out with the intention of becoming a miniatures company - my ambition to was to make some sets of figures that I wanted in my collection, and people have been interested enough in the figures to make it happen!
Post the Kickstarter, I will certainly have spare sets and am happy for people who didn't back the Kickstarter to get in touch and pick them up...in fact that was happening with the first set of figures (one or two sets sold per month for the year between to two Kickstarters).
Once the pledges have all been shipped, I will sit down and have a proper think about if, when, how the figures continue to be available.

Update

After another minor delay, which turned into nearly a week, I'm pleased to say I have all the castings and can commence sending packages again. I've spent the last hour filling blister packs, and should have everything packed to go in the next day or so. Everything will be posted by next Thursday at the very latest. I promise!
