I don't think there's a game that I'd really want to get at the moment. Maybe Hard West and Bioshock. I usually buy few rouge like games that catch my eye.
I would buy dow 2 , online is dead and the game is only used for last stand. The story mode is lacking aswell, you are a commader of pick army you and 3 other character beat up and conquor whole planet.

I just bought Dawn of War II. Took a while, but it's in my library.

sprry I tried to save ya. Good luck I guess at 5$ it would be ok. You can only play 2 races you need the 2 expansions aswell chaos is one and imperal guard is the other. Then you can buy skins for 5$ each, then you can play online lol.

Yep. Originally, I had $23.02 in my Steam Wallet, but now I have $17.72.
Still trying to buy Space Marine. And I still keep getting errors.
Automatically Appended Next Post: FINALLY!!! I am at the payment page for Space Marine!!!
Automatically Appended Next Post: And yet another error at the payment page.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'll wait a while before trying again. Keep getting errors.
Some games I've been looking at:
Kerbal Space Program
The Culling
Sims 3 (Yes, even though it's a DLC gateway, mods still make the base game fun)
Golf With Your Friends
Dead Island
Stranded Deep
I probably won't get all of them, but it's nice go see the majority of those games are already on sale. I'll wait before I do any buying though, because I don't want to throw my money away off the bat, and because I might get a better deal later on in the sale.
It looks like they're trying something different this year. Usually they have nearly everything marked down somewhat, and then each day they'll have several games that are more deeply discounted - but only on that day (and again on the last day). But based on what I can see, it looks like they're not doing the usual daily discounts. Instead, it's one price throughout.
There are some good discounts for certain games... except that people have probably already purchased those games. For instance, Fallout 4 is 50% off. Battlefleet Gothic is 33% off. And Doom is 40% off. But with the possible exception of Doom (which was released just over a month ago), people who are interested in those games probably already have them.

I know I have both Fallout 4 and BFG:A on my wishlist, waiting for the sale. The question I had was if I should grab them now, or wait for deeper sales. If they are not doing the daily deals, makes it an easier call.
Of course, I still need to decide where I want to spent my entertainment budget. Video games or mins?
I'm thinking about Stardew Valley (since it is 40% off), but its not like I need more electronic crack to keep me from painting my plastic crack. I'm also considering Elite: Dangerous and Kerbal Space Program. Plenty of cool games out there. I would also consider Stellaris except they have hardly marked it down at all.
I haven't been interested in the steam summer sale in a long time, but this one around, I got quite a few. Doom (like 40% off for an almost new game), BFG, mordheim, this war of mine, kerbal space program, soma, and shadow warrior.
Even a couple more I'm potentially interested in, but I have to say, pretty good sales (40-50% off mostly) on decent games I've had an eye on. I can't complain.
I ended up getting the first Dawn of War and its expansions, Doorkickers, NOT A HERO and Shadwen, alongside DOOM I got a few days ago this should keep me occupied for some time to come.

Pretty sure it's been that way since they introduced the refund policy. Saves people buying something, then asking for a refund when the sale price becomes better during the sale. Now everything has 1 sale price and that's it.
Gonna get 'pillars of eternity' and 'vermintide' if possible. I've been looking forward to both very much. If i have to pick i'm unsure which one i'd go for. Oddly i might go for vermintide but the sales are both really good right now.

I'm pretty sure the last Winter Sale had the usual daily discounts.
Gah. Was really hoping to get the old Counter Strike game. Ah well.
Currently looking into options regarding the Witcher games. Keep hearing the third one is wonderful and there's no need to play the first two, but my nagging inner completionist is stopping me from getting it.
Heard there was also a RWBY game (might scratch my RWBY itch until volume 4 shows up). The bundle with 3 GTA games for 3$ also looks rather promising. Also might look into an Assassin's Creed game when I figure out how to get uplay to work properly.
Feth it, I'm going to spend a twenty and buy the rest of the Borderlands 2 expansions I was too poor to buy. I've never had that much fun with one game since...Ever...

They are good games but you don't need to play the first 2. There isn't much carryover aside from some characters and plot points but you could easily find out all you need to know from Wikipedia.

The first one might be a bit old to try and muddle through the old-style controls, but the second one is great. I'd definitely play that.
BrookM, if you are looking for opponent on DoW1 multiplayer, my Sisters are waiting for you!
Eww disgusting! That would mean you have to play soulstorm ;P. I prefer either winter assault or dark crusade myself. I think dark crusade is the one i keep going back to with imperial guard. If i remember as they currently are and ended they were one of the weaker factions. Generally means somebody is good if they can beat you as them.
Imperial guard are fun in DoW 2 as well. Those leman russ executioners lol. Oh man so sexy. Funny how when you watch the plasma cannon in DoW 2 vanilla you get excited and then in Retribution the Executioner basically has a rapid firing plasma cannon.

I'm choosing between 'Vermintide' and 'Pillars of Eternity'. The choice isn't any easier but i suppose i could get one of em next week.
Since the steam sale is on and everyone is a shoping mood, might a good idea to fish for suggestions on what to buy.
I booted Skyrim again recently but it isn't quite hitting the spot. I'm looking for something with that classic fantasy feel, but a bit more substantive in the story & character department. I've zero interest in anything "Dark Fantasy" like the Witcher, I'm looking for (at least having the option) to engage in more straight forward heroic fantasy stuff. I'd also prefer to be managing a single or a couple of characters rather than a whole big party. The thing that comes to mind as being closest to what I'm looking for is Neverwinter Nights from back in the day. Anyone know anything like that, particularly if it's on sale right now?

I dunno what 'pillars of eternity' is like but i'm wondering if that would fit your tastes. Perhaps somebody with more experience could say.
flamingkillamajig wrote: Eww disgusting! That would mean you have to play soulstorm ;P. I prefer either winter assault or dark crusade myself.
Do you mean there are more difference between the various extensions than just adding new factions?
Are you playing the campaign and heard about 'mehtal bawkses' yet, or losing 100 baneblades, or sisters of battle for sure shooting out faith powers (people say it's more vague if it's faith or not) and anything like that?
Soulstorm isn't so bad i suppose. It's the only way to play dark eldar. Sadly it's 2nd edition dark eldar when everything looked fugly.
The only real thing soulstorm added was 'sisters' and 'dark eldar' and their abilities as well as flyers. Dark crusade and winter assault put caps on various things and DC changed up how stealth worked as well as various other things. That said necrons, tau and eldar were easily OP in that game. Necrons hard to kill, tau stealth shenanigans and once eldar hit tier 4 as with all previous DoW 1 games they became nigh unkillable due to super fast production (via avatar) and fire prisms. Also builders that can teleport very far and make cloaking buildings is stupid. I mean crap the ability to cloak your entire base and force the enemy to absolutely need a stealth detection unit was just horrible and tau and eldar were the kings of ****ery.
If i had to say caps on units i'd say winter assault put caps on super heavy units (baneblade and landraiders) and builders (and made it so builders didn't take up pop cap as well as changed up some things units were good against. Dark crusade gave predators the annihilator loadout instantly i think for both chaos and marines as well as re-working stealth (became permanently cloaked). Dark crusade also re-worked stealth detector units from commander to stuff like psykers and skull probes. Dark crusade also put caps on elite units such as kasrkin and ogryns and terminators.

Baldurs Gate 2? Pretty sure the enhanced edition is on sale at the moment. Though you do have to manage a party (up to 6 members) so might not be what you're looking for. I find the party management pretty easy though, what with being able to pause and switch direct control between members at any time.
It's DnD setting so would be likely to hit that same spot as Neverwinter Nights. Brilliant storyline and some really top notch characters and writing. Also with the way the story plays out you don't need to have played the first which is a plus as the second is the better of the two.
Though you would be going even further back in the day

Yeah ^^. I love the Metal Bawkses quote.
I only played the SoB campaign though.

I could play one of those DoW 1 games with you i suppose.
@co'tor shas: Let me know if pillars of eternity is any good as i might get that next if possible. Also if you're talking about Endless Legend that game is such a beautiful game and everything about it is enjoyable. I wish EL had more units though.
Would be my pleasure.
We just need to work out a time that works for both of us, given the different timeline and all that .
If you want to add me on Steam: [EDITED]
I have sent in a refund request for Surgeon Simulator and Dawn of War 2. How long do these requests take to process? I also changed my password, if it helps any.
KaptinBadrukk wrote: I have sent in a refund request for Surgeon Simulator and Dawn of War 2. How long do these requests take to process? I also changed my password, if it helps any.
Depends on how long you had them I suppose. There is a limit to how long you can have a game and get a refund and if it is past that time you can't get one.
$2.50 to hang out with Dan Akroyd, the late Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray?
Yes, please!
Whether or not the game is good (and I seem to vaguely remember hearing good things about it back in the day), $2.50 to spend time with those four is money well-spent.
I got Defense Grid and Assault Android Cactus. Loving them both. Talos Principle is dirt cheap now. I'll probably buy that tonight. I love puzzle games like Portal.
Sniper Elite III is a lot of fun. It's like Assassin's Creed in WWII, with less parkour and more long-ranged shooting.
I'm playing it completely wrong though - trying to get close for stealth melee kills - but it is fun and incredibly tense. I mean I could use my machine gun to butcher all the Nazis, but doing it all silent like with my knife and silenced pistol is fun.
On some ways it's almost like a third-person Commandos game where you play the Sniper, Green Beret and Demoman all at the same time.
There's a lot of games I "kinda sorta" want, but nothing that I'm getting overly excited about.
So yeah, haven't bought anything yet.
Would like to pick up The Witcher, Shadows of Morder, Fallout 4, but I don't like buying games I don't intend to play immediately so I may just leave them.
A caution to any Australian buyers, the exchange rate at the moment is bad enough that many games actually come out cheaper if you buy them from EB Games on their end of financial year sale rather than Steam's mid year sale.
I've come across a few games that were cheaper on Steam and some that were cheaper from EB.
EDIT: Are The Witcher expansions completely separate from the core game or do they somewhat modify it? I'm wondering if there's any advantage to me buying the game with the expansions, or just buy it without the expansions and get the expansions later.
Sorry I meant it the other way around, as in, would it be a disadvantage to play the core game without the expansions or are the expansions separate so that it would make no difference if I only bought the core game now and bought the expansions later on.
It's currently cheaper on Steam than GoG, is there any reason to get it on GoG over Steam?
If you do get Witcher 3 with its expansion, don't buy the bundle. For whatever reason you save a few dollars if you buy the base game and the Expansion Pass separately.

I think the main argument for GOG would be lack of DRM and also that way more of the money will go to CD Projekt, the developers of The Witcher games, as they run GOG.

The two expansions are meant to be played after you've finished the main storyline. They don't change any part of the main game. But both are totally worth buying at some point.

Hmm... you don't have to have the expansions right away. The expansion stuff doesn't show up as a possible quest until Level 35-ish, and it takes a while to get there running through the main game. You can wait to get them.
I bought the the witcher trilogy pack and the witcher 3 expansion pass. Expansion pass wasnt on sale but was cheaper than the 10% discounted expansions anyway. EBgames charges a fortune for the expansions too. They sell blood & wine alone for $50.
Installing witcher 3 at the moment. Now to wait 3-4 days for it to download.
Will seriously do self harm if my steam download resets itself afterwards.

I have about 70 hours in the game and I am only level 32....
Dropbear Victim wrote: Installing witcher 3 at the moment. Now to wait 3-4 days for it to download.
Yeah... I was forced to reinstall the game after my files got corrupted (no idea how), and once I had finished installing it it was time for 30gb worth of patches! YAY!
Yeah, that's why I ended up buying the physical copy from EBGames instead (and getting a refund off Steam for the digital copy I bought in the sale).
You're able to link the physical copy to your GoG account so you can still buy the DLC digitally. Bonus is that it only takes an hour on a good PC to install (plus however long it takes for you to download the latest patch).

It sounds like your "patches" were actually completely redownloading the game. Unless those were the expansions, I didn't buy the expansions. I just finished downloading TW3 on Steam, it was 31.7GB download but once it was done there was nothing else to download.

Does Australia have really slow internet or something?
Depends on the game. I have quite a few of them in my Steam library and only a couple of them have not delivered (most notable Starbase DF-9)
I bought the Blitzkrieg complete pack even though I have physical copies of the first 2 already but it was only £1.50 more than buying the 3rd one so....
Incidentally Blitzkrieg 3 is still in early access
Its a bit of a weird game though. Its very much like one of those base building mobile games but with much better graphics. Its enjoyable enough for £10 or so though.
I just did an exchange to get the last missing card for the badge… and Steam told me I had to wait for 24 hours to get it, so just after the cards become useless. Great job Steam!
Got Bioshock, Half Life 2, Witcher 2 and the first Dark souls. Thining of getting Verdun, however, doubt my computer can run it, could someone give me a hand with the specs not really up to scratch on workings of computers.

Yes. Yes it does. Maximum myself or all my mates get is 3mb/s, and thats on a good day, at 3am. My average is 500kb/s.
Although, saying this, I do have high hopes for the NBN plan, if Turnbull lets it run.
Yeah, even in the US, there are many communities that are stuck on old, copper-based DSL, simply because of how antiquated our phone system is and how little money has been invested bringing broadband out of the cities.
Shoot, in my "neighborhood", you can't even get cable television! DSL is the only "high speed" internet available, and 640k is the highest speed you can get..
