My beloved Warhound Titan 'Bello Canis' #3102 was stolen from my cabinet last week. back around 2012, i was homeless and sleeping on a friends floor and had nothing but time on my hands and jsa supplying me enough money to contribute to the bills of the place i was staying and some food - there were a few days i went hungry and this made me use the time i had running errands for people for a bit of extra cash. I was able to keep the wolves at bay and slowly saved up enough to buy my first Titan; Bello Canis with the help of another friend who had a bank account and an internet connection. It was the first nice thing i had bought for myself in 2 years and it always gave me a smile whenever i looked at it.
It was a constant reminder to me of what i can do if i plan ahead and stick to the plan; It was more than a model for me.
Despite being pretty damn sure who the theif is, it's whereabouts are still unknown and the police have advised me to see if it can be recovered through a member of the online community.
My place is in a town called 'Nailsworth' near a bigger town called 'Stroud' in Gloucestershire, but it could show up anywhere.
Here are photos so anyone who sees it may recognise it...

I'd like to give a massive thank you to you all for engaging in scanning trading websites, posting this link to Facebook, generally getting the word out and above all - being a silent eye in every corner watching and waiting..
Unless they repaint it completely and ebay it without the cert - people will assume it's a china recast anyway. Check Craigslist/ebay/hound local trade forums. Hopefully he doesnt decide to sit on it for a year or two

I will keep my eyes peeled on the trading sites mate and gumtree
@stormonu: no it wasn't, they asked me a bunch of stuff about the place it was in, who has access etc and then told me that rather than giving the theif knowlege that the police are looking into it by questioning the person and dusting for prints, we're hoping that they think they have gotten away with it and then we get them when it resurfaces.
Plus latent prints don't turn up nearly as often as fiction would have you believe. Except, of course, when there are tons of prints so it's not useful.
The police don't want you confronting the suspect for obvious reasons. But, if you have a good idea who it was, you can still be smart about it. It's a very niche item, so it is going to have limited appeal. Either they nabbed it for their own purposes (so don't care about the cert) or will try to pass it for some cash to someone in the area or who they know.
Hopefully it's someone whose circles intersect your own enough that info passes to you.
Also, have you posted a reward? Some thieves are dumb enough to try to claim it themselves.
Perhaps check with local pawn shops (cash converters etr..) and see if it's the kind of thing they would take in. If it is it's another set of places to check in the surrounding area.
Many years ago, I had a case of miniatures stolen - I was pretty sure that I knew who had stolen them, but proving it... no.
Years later, I saw a sign for a yard sale - which included 'Games, Toys, and D&D' - and there was the case of minis - with some damage, and a few missing... for sale for $10 by the thief's mom.
The thief himself was in prison by that time - for something completely unconnected to my minis.
I told his mother where he had stole the figures - and she offered them back - but I gave her the $10, and told her not to tell him who the figures had been sold to, but make sure that he knew how much she had sold them for....
Word is circulating around the Cheltenham/Gloucester community. Are you a regular at Atlantic Games in Stroud? Seb, the owner, is very connected to the local scene and could put up a notice or something.

I've been getting loops of doubt about the theft (denyal probably) - i keep thinking that i'll find Bello Canis in a box even though i've been through everything, opened every box, had the police look for it and generally turned over the entire building every time i get that thought.
I feel your pain SirDonlad. About 12 years ago I had my Chaos Marines stolen from my car parked in front of my apartment. They were mostly silly 2nd edition starter set Khorne Berserkers, but still irritating. On an afternoon walk around the neighborhood I saw a small boy playing "toy soldiers" with my Berserkers. The cops were called, and they asked how I knew it was my property. After explaining a rare hobby, custom painting, describing to a tee the remaining contents of a tackle box, and monetary value they finally got involved. Turns out the kids' older brother was a thief and though he was stealing fishing gear.
Thank you EmberlordofFire8, hopefully we get some evidence to crucify the theif with too!
I've been thinking about what to do with regards to the Titan-shaped hole in my life and came to some conclusions..
1: since i have the COA i can't replace Bello Canis with a chinese knock-off; that would be sacrilege.
2: buying another Warhound Titan will grant me another COA, so i'd still be missing a Warhound despite the fresh purchase.
3: what would i do if i replaced Bello Canis and it was then recovered? Go mad.
4: what will my knight titan protectorate protect if Bello Canis is missing?
5: i'm the only member of the titan owners club who doesn't own a titan now.
The way forward is clear - i must emulate the aquisition of Bello Canis with a new, larger titan...

I was thinking that you might get a different titan and if the stolen one shows up, they can purge the heretics together. Good luck.

Thank you Frozocrone, this feels very much like an Ordo Malleus deep-cover operation with all the people looking out for it!
Good point Oldmike - the most distinctive thing is the connection between the legs and the hips; the pistons which determine the angle of the legs at the ball-socket are a bit of a visual trick.
You can't actually position the legs like that without modifying the pistons since some of them have to be shorter than the parts allow and some of them have to be longer than FW makes them.

Hey, Hjalfnar_Feuerwolf! The spacewolf types just can't resist a good hunt can they?
@EmberlordofFire8: no pins involved at all, so technically you could break all the joints, scrape the superglue off and reposition everything but none of the pistons would be attachable again and half of them would be weird sizes - take the picture of Bello Canis from the rear; the two pistons on the underside of the hips are the proper length, fully retracted, but they are the proper length. Compare them to the pair on the upperside and you start to see the piston housing of the one on the right is waaay too short and the piston shaft of the one on the left is faaaar too long to fit in the housing.
If someone did try to remodel it, they would also be fething it up royally at the same time.
I have to say at this point that i have been truly humbled by the response to this situation by the community - I can't thank you all enough!
I tend to the pessimistic side of opinion, which dictates 'Bello Canis' to be lost forever - but the response has been so widespread and heartfelt that i'm getting hopes that i might actually see it again..
I was checking out titan weaponry lore from epic 40000 last night and i got stuck on the titan 'Trident' - "Damn, I need one of those!"

Thank you for doing that, the more people who are aware of it and what happened the more likely it is to get 'spotted' randomly - i like to think that the theif at least knows it's worth a few hundrend quid and may try to trade it with someone so they can 'make a few quid off it' who doesn't know that it's stolen or being looked for.

Not yet. He is still in his transport Sarcophagus... or better said his box. I travelled to Warhammer World in february and brought him home with me. I think I will start him at the end of the Year or at the beginning of next year =)

I have moved house since the theft, so it was the most unexpected surprise when i went to get some of my terrain i had to leave there (i moved anything valuable already) that there it was!
I rang the police straight away and they said i had to leave the cabinet well alone to preserve any evidence - sooooo painful!!

Though I am curious if you were so destitute, why spend money on a superfluous extravagance that most don't get? Just curious on this aspect... Usually if destitute worrying about food etc?
I personally after leaving the military was disillusioned by society so went "out bush, way out bush" for a year or so (e.g. I lived in the outback, relying on hunting to live etc so was in all purposes homeless... I live in Australia so have big open areas) But when decided to return to society I went to uni got a few degrees and am a productive member of the machine now...

wow, that's a bit odd. Looks like the same person had access to your residence on at least two occasions. If it was a stranger, you need better home security. If it was a friend or family, that's just sad on so many levels.

Bello Canis was stolen from the cabinet at my last house and i moved out along with my valuable stuff pretty soon after but there was a bunch of things which i wasn't able to move at the same time.
It was mostly wip terrain that just doesn't hold the same value to me than the other things i own, but i do want to keep.
I still plan on getting lockable cabinets; i'm going to have a house-warming party!
@spectral ceramite; the jobseekers allowance was around £60 - £70 (inflation over time) per week so after putting £20 into the electricity meter where i was crashing, a tenner into the gas meter, another tenner on phone credit (you're expected to call employers as part of claiming jsa) and a couple of bus tickets to go to interviews you could end up with less than a tenner for food/shoes/etc and you have to turn up clean to an interview to have a hope.
So i did errands for people - the area i was crashing in had a lot of unfriendly people around and a lot elderly and people with large families, so getting together another £20 - £30 in bits and bobs per week was quite feasible.
I realized that i was able to put a tenner aside each week and after i had done the math (£10*52 weeks=£520) i realised that i could buy something wonderful for myself for all this effort i was putting myself through and the warhound was perfect.
Once i had that formula down, i used it to buy all my FW models until i housed myself with student finance.

Really glad you got the titan back, I would be gutted if it had happened to me...
But you just admitted you got the Titan through benefit fraud. That's not so good.
You can qualify for JSA while working less than 16 hours a week and have up to £20 of earnings ignored depending on circumstances, but don't let that stop you crapping over the guys good news by accusing him of a criminal offense with essentially zero knowledge of his situation.

Some of us have a very few things in life that are precious, with great meaning, and memories attached, this wee pup will always be part of your life. The hardship, the anguish and the jubilation. Been close to where you have been and it is the little things like a beautiful model, and the stories around it, like this that make the difference sometimes.
Hurrah! I suggest after Bello Canis' ordeal you provide him with a nice warm hangar and plenty of promethium. Glad to see this story had a happy ending.

This engine is going to need like, a thousand litanies attached to it for each heretical transgression of its righteous operation.
Assuming it did nothing but those two movements, thats 2000 litanies; shall we say, ten litanies per strip of parchment and typically two strips per purity seal meaning it's going to need at least 100 purity seals..

Seriously, it's awesome you got your model back. Sure you could have gotten another one at some point, but it just wouldn't have been Bello Canis. And if you know who the thief was, you should definitely press charges if you haven't done so already. feth that piece of monkey gak. It's not the value of the item; it's the sentimental value and all the time and effort and love you put into it. Someone who would take that from someone, even just for their jollies and even if he/she returns it later, should rot in jail.

Get in touch with them, they're very accommodating - they already have a xenos section as well as a Knight Household section.
It does seem like the kind of thing they would include given how special they are in the fluff as well as just generally!

The TOC is a nice page, but as I am getting my first warhound second hand ( still new in FW bag) but it doesn't have the ticket with it anymore....so boo :(

No, sadly not - as far as i know the theif hasn't developed a case of exploding testicles yet. Or is that vengeance? i find it so difficult to tell these days..

I pretty much was! (hence being told to stay away from them by the police) But i was conscious that no one wants to read my raging diatribe over it and carefully removed my vitriol whenever i was posting here.
On the COA - Forgeworld only re-issue certificates if you have the order number and your receipt, but the Titan Owners Club do accept Titans AWOC (accepted without certificate) occasionally.
