Good day Dakka Community,

Let me reintroduce myself do that is has been a long time since I had any blogs prior to this. My name is Nickolas Ferraro. I have not been in the painting games since 2015. This was doing to finiancal issues and being a little butt hurt that Games Workshop blow up the warrior hammer fantasy universe on me. Due to these events I ended up selling all of my games workshop items; models, books, etc.

Now being 2017 I decided to get back into painting since it was a skill that I am good at. I started off with some reaper Miniatures to get me get the rust off in my skills. With that I started to paint models for Dungeon and Dragons groups. This got me to create my painting company Well Painted Studios.

This blog will be the catch all for all of my projects that I will be working one, both for fun, and commission work. I will do step by step tutorial to ensure the people will be able to learn or questions techniques. I encourage anyone to post and comment for constructive criticism is welcome.

I will start this evening with my first Games Workshop miniatures within the last two years. Let us see how this goes. Please check in and say hi

Day 2

Good morning dakka,

Last night as you can see I worked on my first Primaris Intercessors marine. This will be the first GW model I worked on in almost 2 years.

I am sticking to a interesting theme for this current project and that is Guilliman had the Primaris Marine created in secret on mar with the gene seed form every legion. This got me thinking. The Primarchs were not inherently bad. The Emperor created the space marine legion with gene stock for those primarchs. I would believe they Guillman would have done the same by removing the flaws from the gene seed of the traitor legion stock as well.

This first of eighteen Primaris Intercessors Marines will be painted in the colors and by created with the Luna Wolves Paint scheme of White and Black.

This marine will be following by the others legions of the Dusk Raiders, War Hounds etc. If I like how these 18 legion marines turn out I may stick with it and create an army bases around this theme.

I will start working on this evening of adding the next layering of Admin Grey before I start with the tediousness of layering white.

Day 3
Good morning Dakka

This evening I will start the tedious work of the white on this Primaris Intercessors Armor. As I posted yesterday, this marine will be in the painted colors of the Luna Wolves legion. I know black and white are not the most dynamic of paint schemes but all of us painters know that white is one of the hard to deal with.

Due that white is the hardest or colors to paint with I have decided to do the Dusk Raiders are the second legion color scheme for the 18 known legion project. I will then go back to doing the War Hound once that is complete.

You like be wondering why I have not done the arms and base yet in the blog. I plan on a dramatic base for the Primaris marines so I will be doing some base tests of camera.

The arms I am not doing yet since I am practicing my free hand technique for the pictures on the shoulders pads. I will show you all some results later on that.

I also need to name my said- motley crew of legionnaires so I might need suggestions for names. Let me know

Day 4

Good morning dakka!

Friday is here and painting of the white will commence. Last evening I quite literally was painting the layer after layer of white on the top half of this Primaris Intercessors for over 3 hours to get the results I am happy with.

Tonight I will work on finishing up the bottom half the the marine and then start on the layers of greys on the arms and back pack.

I have some new equipment on order to help me with future projects and commission work. I will give some reviews on this later down the line after a practicing prior.

Day 5

Good weekend dakka

I have just spent the majority of my morning working on the backpack and the arms of the Luna Wolves styled Primaris Intercessors Marine. With the majority of the work not completed I will not start on the base work.

I will your the bases that was provided with this introduction marine and paint is with a overgrown weeds. I am debating whether to make all of the marine bases uniform or make each one different so that I can show off my model skills. We will see.

I will have to do some minor touch ups on the marine himself to me the other aspect of him pop out. I will also try and free hand the Luna Wolves crest on the shoulders on the model.

Good morning Dakka

How are you all today. This evening I will be completing the Primaris Intercessors Luna Wolves marine. As I stated in the prior posts I will working on one of every Legion for this current project. I will be working on ether the War Hound or Dusk Raider at my next one.

I have purchased marine Primaris Reivers Marines. I will be painting this model with the sneaky legions, or I will use them as Conversion parts. We will see.

Good afternoon dakka

With the completion of the Luna Wolves Primaris marine I will now continue with the next marine on my itinerary which is the War Hounds legion model.

For those who have never heard of the War Hounds they were the original name of the World Eater before the founding and renaming by Angron. The model color scheme that I will be using will be the blue/white/ and bronze colors of this legion.

Like before I will provide step by step and photos for the completion of this model.

Good morning Dakka

This evening I will try, if I can, to finish up on the arms and back pack for this War Hounds Primaris Intercessors marine Model. I am hoping that Friday I will be able to have the miniature on its base and standing tall with its other legionnaire.

For tool update I have just received in my first airbrush and compressor. This is not the best on the market but it is a beginners one. I will try and do some testing with it before I start implementing it to my regular painting uses.

Day 10

Good morning Dakka

This evening I will be working on the final touch ups on this miniature. I will clean up the lines and highlights. I will paint the white on the shoulders pads and this free hand the War Hounds symbol. This base work. Hopefully I will be able to complete this tonight but I will not rush.

I am noticing that I take about 5 to 6 days per marine so this project have an estimated 16 week life spend until the next one. Longs if I obtain commissions work in the meantime

Day 14

Good morning Dakka

As you can see this morning that the Dusk Raiders Primaris Intercessors Marine is complete. Next on the docket is the Alpha Legion. This was voted as the next marine from the original legions. Yesterday I have a vote for the one after this which is now the Emperor's Children. I am happy that I am get multiple communities involved in this.

I am currently in debate about which model to paint the Alpha Legion. Primaris Intercessors or Primaris Reivers. I will decide before this evening.

Good evening Dakka

Last night I hit a snag with the Alpha Legion color scheme. I was not satisfied with how the test model was coming out. I realized that the colors were way too dark. Not only that I also come to the conclusion that I really do not like the Primaris Reivers model so I will not be using them for this project except for bits and parts. Hopefully the changes that I implemented in the color scheme with give me that pre-heresy Alpha Legion blue that I am looking for . We shall see

Good morning Dakka

Sorry for the wait in updated post. I have not had time to but I was able to drop the photos on the page. This weekend I was able to complete the Alpha Legion Primaris Intercessors Marine and start on the Emperors Children Primaris Intercessors Marine. I am surprised on how annoying the purple was to get done for the pre heresy look of the Emperors Children.

I will be finishing up on the Emperors Children tonight. The vote on the Warhammer 40k fan group voted the Night Lords as the next Primaris to paint. This will be interesting

This evening I will be doing some minor conversions with for the Night Lords Primaris marine. Mainly just a head swap since I do not like the Reviers Marines. I think that the skull mask should have been exclusive only to Chaplain and of course Night Lords. I will be free handing multiple parts of this model as well. I will try to ensure that it turns out well

This evening I will try to finish up the jump pack, left arm and base for this model. This weekend is a pack weekend for my so if I don't finish up by tonight then I will have to push it off until Monday.

While your painting isnt the smoothest, your colour choice and freehand are top notch!! Havent done it in a couple of years? Hah! You're better than I am, and I've been plodding away for a few years now for sure.

The head swap on the inceptor and using it for night lords is a great idea! Not to mention that your sala-gressor is the first aggressor I think I've actually liked at all so far.

Awesome work, consider your alpha legion, dusk raider and night lord schemes and ideas stolen! hahahh! (can you pretty please keep listing the paints you use for each model, you have a knack for matching references that is really quite something).

This evening I will be completing the wiring for the flame throwers for this Aggressors miniatures as well as some minor clean up.

Once this model is complete I will start on the next one that was voted for which was Dark Angels.

Wires look great. The colors of the wires compliment the freehand work. I was worried he make look too much like Hotrod Marine but the final product is impressive, like a lot of your work. Well done!

Can't say i'm overly fond of the models themselves, but your painting is excellent. The Luna Wolf is my favourite so far. I have a soft spot for black/grey lining on white models.

Finished hooking up my Yeti microphone and two Logitech cameras to start streaming my model miniature painting tutorials. Just need my swivel mount for one of the cameras and then I can begin. That is coming in tomorrow evening. Excited to begin.

I am still going strong with my painted and this project. I have been doing a lot of painting on Twitch. This Iron Hands Primaris is the first GW Miniature I did in The last 2 months. I have just finished multiple non-GW miniatures and I did not post them on to Dakka. I don’t know the rules for non-GW miniature posting.

Iron hands guy is looking great . So glad you kept the armor on the back half of the leg and not just give him the typical bionic peg leg where people chop the whole leg off and add a wonky bionic piece.
