We got front row seats for the seminar for upcoming Games Workshop releases! Here's what we found out -

1. Space Wolves and Ork Codexes are up next.

2. Genestealer Cults Codex yet to be announced but new models are inbound

3. Expect to see previous of Age of Sigmar's new Night Haunt on Warhammer Community in the coming days.

4. We saw the new models for Necromunda's House Cawdor, they look vicious!

5. Middle-Earth is getting a kick up the butt with the release of a new Pelennor Fields release boosting the game into larger scale warfare once more

6. Card packs are incoming for Shadespire. The first batch being focused on giving leaders cool things to do

7. Kill Team news seems to be mere weeks away.

More genestealer cults models!!!! must have, please be a limo, etc

no mention of Ork models, hope that's not a sign they they're going to be book only as I fear that would end up with a lot of the finecast characters going missing

Community article. I must say I am absolutely baffled by the decision to not show the aos starter set yet.

I'm loving those Cawdor models. I might get some and do them up as a ragtag militia for 40k.

Absolutely loving the Cawdor! Just hope they come with optional hoods, or I'll be a-huntin' for such elsewhere.

Well I was in the second row and can expand on some of those more

For the orks, they wouldn’t confirm what new models, but did say that, following the tend of all the recent coded releases there will be models to go with the orks and that they would no longer be an awful army.

There were a few questions about kill team. They said there would be an awful lot to say about t on the community site in ohhh 2-3 weeks *nudgenudgewinkwink* and that the rogue trader stuff we have seen will be a part of the kill team thin. Sounds like kill team may be something g larger than just one book or one box... we shall find out soon though!

For the cult, they did seem a bit sad that they couldn’t talk about the book yet, but seemed to say that the aberrations may be outt before the book and that there was more to come for them.

For the night haunt next reveal, they said Tuesday would be a good day to watch the commmunity site and that AoS 2 could drop any day now, getting gem that it was June today.

Hopefully they are right about orks not being awful but then again marketing speech so not that trustworthy

The new Aberrant also appears to have some sort of tail - I can't remember what type of tail that is - is it one of the Carnifex tails (though a smaller version).

Here's my thought on what this new Aberrant is holding:
It's a close combat weapon for a much cheaper points cost. It might have a few minor bonuses and weaknesses (e.g. +1 Strength, -1 to hit with the weapon), but it'll act as a cheaper alternative to the Power Pick and Power Hammer. So if a Pick Aberrant is ~27 points, a Hammer Aberrant is ~33 points, and an "improvised weapon" Aberrant could be ~17 points (a 0 point upgrade perhaps).

Finally separate Aberrants I need some for Necromunda but I'm not paying ebay prices for the Overkill ones.

With Orks and SW being next, does that mean that one will be out before the other or will it be a joint release?

No reason to think previous pattern changes. Separate. Gw doesn't want them to steal attention from each other

I've seen people saying that, according to GW at the seminar, the releases are in this order - can someone verify?

  • One of [Space Wolves/Orks]

  • The other one of [Space Wolves/Orks]

  • Completely new 40k faction (apparently they said this, I've not heard any verification yet).

  • Genestealer Cults

  • Sisters of Battle

Rogue Traders seems like likely candidate for “completely new faction.”

Looks similar to the Genestealer Patriarch's tail to me.

Genestealer Cult getting Aberrants was expected. The ones from Deathwatch Overkill were part of a combined sprue, so GW needed a separate product.

If GW retcons the Screamer Killer as a monstrous unit for GSC I'll be overjoyed.

The new faction is probably Rogue Traders.

  • Good. That would fit with what we know so far : Space Wolves (August) / Orks (Septmber)

Before those two, in July, Kill Team, and after, in Autumn, Rogue Trader.

The completely new faction is either Emperor's Children or Wolrd Eaters.

Agreed. Orks being viable would be great, but it isn't wise to take anything GW says at face value, especially considering their track record.

Can’t remember the exact wording but they did admit it was a pretty bad army and that the new book would rectify that

    WAAAAGH!!! ORKS!!!

As far as a new faction goes, I really hope it's something Xenos aligned - and not entirely new as well; we don't need MORE races and factions. We need more XENOS aligned Mercenaries.

Rogue Traders just sound like more Imperial garbage; Kroot Auxiliaries would be great - I love Kroot, and would be glad to see them fleshed out more.

I'd really love to see a Xenos Mercenary codex - GSC infiltrators working with other factions, Kroot working with the highest bidders, Freebooter Orks, Necrons working for trade goods, and other such xenos; so that every Xenos faction essentially got a shared supplement, and could start souping a bit themselves (for better balance and fun).

THE ONLY THING THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS THOUGH IZ ORKZ BEING THE BESTST! WAAAGH!!! THEYZ NEVA BEATN IN BATTLE!

I hope it’s not a completely new faction; I want it to be Exodites. Just go all-in on elves-on-dinosaurs like they pulled off with the elves-on-fish in AoS

You realise that exodites on flying space turtles is more likely as that way you can have another 40k/AoS crossover army

GW knows that that is what all eldar players secretly long for

I think a mixed mercenary xeno book would be amazing. It would also appeal to a lot of people.

Just as a quick note, for anyone not aware the Games Expo has now become a pretty big event from quite humble beginnings. GW is one company here amongst a number, admittedly a good proportion of them are boardgame related but it's definitely worth the trip for the whole hobby event.

    https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/

Beasts of War have rolling coverage of the events and different things on offer, haven't seen it yet but they usually have a good go with Salute in terms of showing what is going on there if you're not able to attend

considering the community page released a quote saying gnecult was the last Xenos codex I doubt any kroot codex is likely planned in the future.

That said I think the quote was referring to Xenos that we currently have within the game with a previous codex and are awaiting an update. It's not stating that no new xeno groups are planned nor that no new xeno sub-groups are planned; just that from what we've had before only the Genestealer Cult (after orks) remains to be done.

I think GW would consider Kroot to be a fully new army concept for Xenos so if that were coming it wouldn't be something we'd be "waiting for" until GW give formal announcement of it.

As gamers we also don't know what GW's actual plans are once the last formal army codex drops. We know there's a lag time before Sisters of Battle, but otherwise we can only speculate on what GW will do from this point on. With a new Age of Sigmar release my impression is that we might see Sigmar releases pick up the pace (esp books) so we might now be approaching a year or so of heavy Sigmar releases; with 40K getting data-slate released new models and updated sculpts in drips and drabs whilst Sigmar takes the limelight (which would be a good thing to help solidify the strength of that range). We've also got Titanicus in August which will likely dominate that month and will add to Necromunda, Bloodbowl and other games.

Or GW could be addicted to new armies (Sigmar certainly shows that they are as they've split several armies into sub-faction armies) and we could see ever more codex released and further splitting of armies (personally I hope we dont - a few new things is good - too many and it get silly )

as for a future post codex set up, I could see GW refining the idea of codex supplements, new models some new rules etc. be a good way to introduce new kits, AND patch some of the worse codices out ther (grey knights loioking at you)

Ummm those came in may. May as in one month.

Yeah.... I have no idea what kind of point you're trying to make then. 2 in 2 months is much less of a feat than 2 in 1 month.

That 2 in 2 months is unlikely release schedule for orks and wolves as was suggested as gw is doing codexes faster than that.

The Cawdor models are excellent. All of them seem to have the arms attaching under the upper robes so hopefully will have a flush edge like the Van Saar and Escher models to allow easy magnetising.

So, are there not going to be any more females in Necromunda? They did their one obligatory all-female gang with ladies in and every other gang is going to be a complete sausagefest?

I had such high hopes after DE were released with multi-sex sprues, but they seem to have just reverted to the 'obligatory one off token release' generally and left it there for the most part.

There are a couple in the Van Saar gang. It kind of makes sense if Cawdor are a really misogynistic kind of religious. Delaque might have female members, have to wait and see.

They didn't outright say all codexes from Knights onwards are getting new stuff. But they very strongly hinted at it (and that it was the reason they were last).

Actually they did say that both of these codexes would get new kits. The actual quote was “they will follow the trend of recent books, which all had new kits”. I could see SW just getting Primaris boxes with wolf upgrade sprues though

Well, none, unless you count that Necron board game. Which, given this is games expo, maybe, just maybe, might be a promotion of this. But yeah, let's just put tin hats on and start making dumb off topic comments on Primaris

I did a review of the Space Marine Heroes Series 1 a while ago, including size comparisons. They are a bit taller like the Mk8 Deathwatch Kill Team Marines, arguably the most "truescale" Non-Primaris-Marines GW ever released.

You're certainly not alone there. Lots of people would love for the Dark Mechanicum to be expanded, to give Chaos access to some of the same stuff, and even wilder stuff, than the Imperium has.

    Here's hoping. :/
