Something is coming - R&D's 'MakeUSmaller' ray has been a huge success ...

Is this the one that's going to be managed by Ash Barker?

Well, that just means two things to get hyped over!

(feel free to get his input on Paranoia too tho, it's right up his alley)

It's out on pre-order tomorrow so predates Ash joining the other project but it's definitely the sort of thing he'll like I think

So is this the same Paranoia as the OG game of yore?

If so, I'm intrigued.. always loved the lore on that one

It is indeed - the original high programmers themselves have been approving the content.

It's a solo/coop or vs miniatures game

Welcome to the miniatures version of the iconic, dark-humour Paranoia RPG, adapted by the same team as Five Parsecs from Home and Five Leagues from the Borderlands.

Want a game where teammates have each other’s backs and work together to accomplish a noble goal? Well, this ain’t it.

Join a so-called ‘team’ of Troubleshooters (find the trouble, get shot) and complete missions that keep Alpha Complex the safe, efficient Utopia its citizens trust. None of them are members of secret societies, and absolutely none of them have mutant powers. They’re certainly not going to report each other as Traitors or shoot each other in the back with a laser pistol. Hey, get them before they get you!

And if you die, don’t worry, you have five identical clones to take your place and mop up what’s left of you.

Trust The Computer. It never makes mjstakes.

- Procedural solo, co-op and group play rules and gamemastered options throughout.
- Fast-moving system, emphasising fun over complexity
- 50 Mutant Powers that you definitely don’t have
- 20 pieces of starting equipment.
- Mission generator, plus 20 Scenarios with 7 Objective types.
- Secret Society and Security Clearance rules
- Foes including IntSec Troopers, Vulture Squadron Warriors, Bots, Mutant Creatures, Monsters, and Aliens, and, of course, your fellow clones
- Rules for random hazards, cameras, vending machines, even doors
- Optional rules for Mandatory Bonus Duties, Service Groups, and more
- 10 status effects – you too can be Confused, Stunned, Bleeding, Stressed, Infected, and more. Often at the same time!

Dammit. Costing me $.
I try not to spend $ on toys for myself Nov-Dec. But no one else is likely to get me this for Christmas no matter the hints I drop, so....

Was not on my bingo card, but may well be in my Adepticon haul if it's there...

That it's built on the 5X system is a big plus to me. Me and a buddy have been doing a co-op Five Leagues campaign recently, and that's been a blast.

I don't think it will be at Adepticon (though maybe..), but yes, it's Ivan's latest work, and I've been working with him on steering the design - it's been a lot of fun and seeing Eric, Greg and Ken responsed - having the high programmers themselves comment has been awesome

One of the fun things is seeing 'colour' as terrain, so adding corridors and rooms with different clearances is a different approach for a skirmish game.

Will the heroes come in sets of 5 identical models?

I hope they do

You get 6 different clones to choose from - we couldn't resist riffing off the comical ideas from the original range

You could always buy five boxes and then have clones of everyone, right boss?

I'll probably end up with this, as I seem to eventually buy anything 5X.

I'm a bit more excited for Five Leagues: Planetfall, though. That one feels like it's been 'coming soon' forever...

"This corridor is above your security clearance, citizen." "But, the Computer told me to go to that room over there to hunt down commie-mutant-traitors." "Well, then you better get there." Sounds perfect.

If it's not at Adepticon, I'll pick it up later. If it is, it will come home with me.

Because, you know... The Computer is your friend. O.o

I'm pretty sure there was an old Paranoia adventure where the Troubleshooters had to investigate a mysterious sector known as "Outside"...

Found it!

It's a "fog of war" scenario, with a GM. Each player played in a separate area until the two forces met or something. Sounds like a great idea, but never played it.

Oh the White Dwarf scenario where they teleported into a 40K Ork base whilst testing new R+D equipment - it was fun

The random mission generator is actually good enough to create adventures for the RPG. You create a level map, with random sectors, NPCs, hazzards, and much more it really kind of writes itself I think Paranoia rpg players will find lots of uses in the book, not the least for perhaps using the rules for more miniature orientated combat, that and being able to play without a GM is one of the strong points.

Funnily enough (as the person who project lead the sculpt/paint part of this project, it was that article that was the sole reason I even knew what Paranoia was.

I have vague memories of a squirrel being suspect/shot and an old nuclear powered music execs bunker whose power source was about to go critical.

The Computer asked...
