Few more photos! Everyone keep in mind that the painting isn't done and this isn't the complete set. Probably won't get to finish these until I get home next (in May, since I work across the country), but I really look forward to finishing everything and seeing the watchtowers involved.
Game-wise we just play the fences as dangerous and difficult terrain which confers a 4+ save. It's pretty balanced, since the defenders have a hard time shooting the attackers but the attackers get slowed by the fences and every once in a while one gets electrocuted to death!
Setting up the board is now almost as fun as the battle itself.

It's a Griffon Mortar Tank!
Just got the package with the Jurassic Park-style bases and they look great - thanks a ton Harry! I'm going to prime the watchtowers now and maybe get some more terrain painting done.
EDIT: Here's the towers and a bit more painting. All the green has been drybrushed, still need to finish all the black on the fences, drybrush the black, add a black wash over everything, and finish up with some details/rust/aquilas... but it's looking good! Here's a shot from our game last night. The terrain has a pint glass which fits inside filled with strong beer - every time one of your units dies you drink from the "Pint Of Sorrow" in their honor. Two Dark Eldar Warriors fell in by accident.
I'll stop posting photos eventually, I swear, I just like showing how many different ways there are to use the terrain!

Whoo holidays are over and it's back to work! Modelling time has kind of gone second to tying up loose ends like redoing box graphics, but I did find time to make the roof of the little pod building removable so any Infinity players should be happy
I played a game of Infinity down our local games club last week and used the upgraded fortress spread all around the table, it actually worked quite well as little bits of terrain scattered about. Had some epic moments including my LT getting pegged through a vision slit (my opponent needed to roll a 2 or less on his d20! ) then dying when my medic's manic rush to revive him resulted in me fluffing the PH roll.
Also working on some Ancient Techron terrain, just the one piece at the mo. Pics will follow later.
Cheers

Just posting a little WIP of the huuuuuge Ancient Techron terrain piece I've been working on. If you came up woth a design we could look in to it, it's on the list but it's not something we're likely to get round to ourselves for quite some time! We recognise there's a bit of a lack of good xenos terrain out there, hence the space robots in space terrain. Our to-do list is growing pretty long!
Thanks for following us everyone, especially you regulars! It really helps keep us slogging away!

Can you / What 3D models can you take. are Solidworks files ok? ( SLDPT / SLDASM ) If not, what format do you prefer?
I have a design for a Webway Portal I'm making in card but wood / plastic would be significantly better
28327
Post by: mullet_steve
I sent my files to warmill in dwg format but that's 2d drawing stuff, I'm not sure about 3d? Tau drone is very cool looking, is it just an awesome paperweight or are you guys thinking about maing it into a desk lamp or something? A string of LED's under the dome or mounted into the marker rifles would work well.
43229
Post by: Ovion
To make it an effective lamp, you'd want it to be a bulb inside with the 'eyes' clear plastic so it has glowy lenses
39827
Post by: scarletsquig
Nice, finally some Xenos terrain!
Eldar or Tau buildings would be great, could work out well in terms of sales if you have them ready to release at around the time when their new codexes come out.
28327
Post by: mullet_steve
how about all three options? all we need to do is cast the LED's and bulbs into the right places already wired up?
what you do is superglue the bulbs with wiring directly to the silicone mould and pour the resin in all that's left is to make the stand

WarMill wrote:How about Roads?
Roads are an interesting problem - lots of people will want lots of different styles.
Your best bet (especially given your other modular work) is to make a modular road system - seperate kerbs/pavement sections that either rest on or clip into road surface sections, or can be bought seperately for people who want to edge buildings, or use their own road surface (I've seen people using painted fine sand to look like pretty good tarmac). Also means people can choose between wide main roads and small alleys without you having to make up loads of different widths and complex segments.
A selection of long and short straight pavement sections, 30-90 degree bends (or bend segments in line with your fort corners? I can't remember the bends you have on those), a few special interest sections (sewer inlet on side of kerb/cracked paving slab/some form of damage/etc), perhaps a couple of different finishes - cobbles, large paving slabs, metal grating, etc.
Of course, if you can get much thinner (0.5-1mm?) wood/metal/plastic, you can also etch road detailing like manholes, sewer grates/etc so people can just glue them down onto their home made road surfaces (or if you are also making etched road surfaces, they can add them to yours).
Continuing with the street/urban theme, you could also look into things like vending machines, street lamps, road signs, street signs, trafic flow controllers/sensors, etc?

Lots to think about there Silver! Currently drawing something up now - we have a 'theme' to develop, and as you say, there are lots of people all wanting their own layouts / styles - so we're going to have to find a happy median that we can nestle ourselves into!

OK! Well, we have a lot of images - and most of them are pretty shoddy due to my iPhone being old and rubbish, but i'll upslowd as many sort of usable ones as I can! Please bare in mind that these are WORK IN PROGRESS and do not reflect the finish of the final retail product! Harry has spent along time perfecting the design, fit and overall feel of the set, and we are ready to cut our 'Alpha' kit, which we should be able to get painted by the end of the week or so!
The kit in question is yet to be given an official title, but will fall under our Street Wars brand. Suggestions welcome - so far we have 'Hab Pod' or 'generic octagon buildings' etc
Last Thursday we went down to our local hobby club, but didn't so much as play a game but sat in the corner assembling the models, and this past weekend painting them up. We chose to paint them as during the process of refining the design, Harry cut half a dozen of the damn things, including walkways and walls and connectors and stuff, so it would have been a shame to simply waste them. Suffice to say, they'll be donated to our LHC for many games to come!
Enjoy! Comments and feedback welcome! (Any haters please make your way to the process unit to be cleansed )
Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them!
Signing out,
Harry and Ed!

Got a prototype of the road system cut today so will be reviewing that over the next couple of days. We didn't have much of an issues reaching in and moving figures on the lower platform, as far as the club is concerned, they were very enthusiastic as we were assembling the pieces, I think if we rock up with the painted and assembled set this Thursday we'll be best friends forever!

Interesting - raised road sections?
Any rationale behind the lines that you have etched? Or are you just going for a semi-random sci-fi road marking system?
34935
Post by: Evaelc
you should try and make some sections that can be raised even higher cause then you have models walking underneath or more roads just going everywhere.
41690
Post by: WarMill
The markings were there just so there would be no comments like 'to plane!'
A more holistic aproach to layout is needed ass to how the system will work so they all line up and look good, one for a cross road, t junction, corners etc...
The elevation is so you don't need to have them permanently on the gaming table, and allows for a more modular approach to the games and layouts....they're also conveniently the same heights as the Mr pods and walkways further up the thread!!
Double height sounds like it could be a good direction for us to take

Looks like they can be raised or multidecked or connected tosome of the other designs. Which means that we can hopefully look towards a landing set or a vehicle parking area. I would not be surprised if Warmill is trying to create an entire Gameboard of things like this.

The roads are cool. They have a semi permanent vibe to them. Like they have been airdropped in like barricades. It makes sense that there wouldn't be any specific t-junctions etc as the soldiers on the ground would just put the pieces together like a simple puzzle to get where they need to go.
Damaged road segments would be great to! With craters and cracks. Like where you're going with the terrain. You are creating your own universe and style.

We were thinking of a block war kind of thing, imagine 2 opposing tower blocks made of mr pods ( btw we may steal that name ) connected at various levels by walkways, with a road running through the middle with little stalls like noodle bars bythe sides, with fences around the blocks. The blocks would get grimier as you went to thebottom as the towers are added to as more people are crammed in, with grafitti all over the ground floor trailing off as you got higher, and all over the place are neon adverts and billboards. Street wars indeed

I might be tempted to have them built around some kind of industrial complex - some large power station coolant towers ringed by worker dorms and services for example, or a couple of huge vehicle assembly bays ("titan" style construction/housing buildings)? With the scaffolding being Mr Pods + walkways and a couple of more solid towers in the centre of each block of pods? Perhaps rival construction/power companies/gangs in an industrial waste/hive/district? A maze of walkways and the odd Mr Pod being used as a shop or bar in "no mans land" suspended between them?

I was thinking for the laser cutting - could people supply you with essentially "pre-painted" print outs which you could then stick on the wood pre-cutting? ie if someone coloured in your walkway design, sent you the file and you then printed it and stuck it onto the un-cut walkway section and then cut it, they would have their "paint job" (such as hazard stripes, metal plating, rusty patches, etc) with your walkway pattern cut into it.
You could even have your own "pre paint" designs...
If you painted up the pannels prior to assembly and then scanned then in 1:1, you could quickly amass lots of designs without having to draw them digitally...

the only way i have seen this work in the past is if you have a template cut around the actual cut for example an A4 sized rectangle that people can download and color in a graphics program that the guys at warmill just print out and paste on this means the pattern can be lined up correctly each time.

That was kind of what I was thinking. Though my slant on that would be if WarMill painted up their own pieces and used a scanner to digitise the paint scheme for each piece, rather than have to colour each piece on the computer. Paint up a pod "cleanly" without assembling it, scan each piece, then add on weathering etc, scan in again and work in the cutting guides and you have instant "decals"/"pre painted" designs for the buildings/ walkways and still have the etched detailing as well. You could even use colour filters to give people choices between, say, different primary colours. My only concern would be if the laser would burn the paper designs/glue... Fire extinguishers on hand for this experiment

I would reccomend putting a cross-brace between the 2 supports, so each set of legs is a H shape.

As much as that would improve stability, I think that it would somewhat ruin the look.

I think it would improve the look.. it seems too spindly atm.
Like it'd fall over in a stiff breeze, certainly wouldn't survive traffic or troop movements.
1 or 2 cross bars will improve stability and make it look more.. real.

yip!
Bracing will be added as options I think at the moment. Also I drew them so the legs 'slot in' so there are no single massive pieces of MDF material. If that makes sense!
I'll add the fort in later, working on my laptop which might die if I added the fortress into the scene.
I took reference from Chicago's L train and other steel structures so there is a bit of familiarity to them already - the images I looked at (Google images ) had them without the bracing, and some areas with the bracing...so I thought i'd follow that aesthetic.
I gotta sort out the regular ( none elevated road ) and also some ramps so stuff can acctually get there in game! I was thinking of some method of suspending the mr pods from below the road sections or something along those lines

Does anyone have basic measurements of a rhino or chimera? The measurement between each foot is 133 and that's the narrowest part at the base.
This bracing would I guess would stop a tank getting between the legs. So You could always leave one clear like in the third pic. the bracing is a simple sketch and could be developed further.... Would you be able to add the bracing directly under the roadway to allow extra room for stuff to pass underneath?
Personally I think the braces make it look a bit too busy as is.

Hi Ed, that latest render looks brilliant, it's a bit hard to work out the width of the road though - - are we looking at a narrow one way road or a two way ? If it is too narrow it looks kind of like a fortress wall walkway rather then a practical road.
On the plus side if you can get the low level road to seamlessly fit with the high level then you are looking at an awesome product that deserves to do really well.

To be honest i think that without the supports they look fine, otherwise to me they look as a little too much.
However that being said they look amazingespecially with the road coming underneath it, any chance at some on and off ramps and maybe some service stairs for infantry?

From what I recall, GW staff don't really care about the base. I know at my local GW there's people using other companies resin bases. It's primarily the model that needs to be GW, the base can be anything so long as it's the right size.

Haha - I have finished my exams for now so I am in the process of sorting out all the stuff I am selling on ebay - once that is gone I will be picking up a stealth Nomad army so will be looking for some custom CH markers (I was thinking of a clear base with another clear piece cut to look like a person's silhouette slotting into a peg hole on the base with an etched line running around the edge that I could fill with different coloured paint (so I could track which marker was which model)).
Something like this?
Though I would be open to suggestions if you can think of more fun ways of doing it
Have to say that I am looking forward to getting into the game... just got to find somewhere near me which has players

Although i dont play Infinity (yet) do you think it would be possible to make some clear parts for the tech disk / hacker thingies near the hands like in this pic? http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/croc-men-2/
Maybe it would look stupid.... but just a thought.
41690
Post by: WarMill
That's a good idea Silver. I think that clear profiles would work well and with a band of colour around them could look sweet. The only problem we face with he disks is the material thickness, and that you would then have to print on the artwork.
I think most of the infinity models that use the disks come with them in the blister already don't they?

I have some ideas myself. Hey!
So there has been a week or two of radio blackout! We have been -thankfully!- rushed off our feet with getting all these orders out the door, once we have a free minute we have been catching up with real life! (boooo!)
Today we went to a local gaming day, where me and Harry actually got a game of Infinity in, the second game I have ever played of the system! I'm sure Haz will upload some of the images later. It was a fun little game, not only did we play one game, we played two! and on our own terrain that we have been slaving over the past few months The game was based on the typical 'plant the bomb' mode in current video games, so we had up to 6 turns to run up to the radar and plant the bomb, whilst all the defenders were re spawning and lacing in to the attackers with assault rifles and pistoling the dudes in the face when they got too close
Until next time!!

Post by: WarMill
Been a long time since we've been around
We did something unheard of today and actually played a game! We had a couple of games of Infinity with house rules since we're both noobs at the game, to make it a bit more like Battlefield since that's been our game for a while. We had a bunch of basic guys, a sniper and an HMG each and played Rush / Sabotage, with an antennae array in the middle of a small forest outpost. Defenders were deployed in the compound, attackers were anywhere 6" from the compound fence. Attackers could plant c4 to blow down walls or hack the gate with WIP rolls, and had to get to the array and plant c4 with a long skill WIP roll. Defenders could defuse the bomb with a short skill WIP roll. Anyone taken out would respawn in the next turn, the defenders would spawn in the 3 pod buildings and attackers would spawn anywhere within 6" of the wall.
After a practice game to work out what we were doing and how to play again, the second game was pretty sweet! We played with 5 orders each so play was nice and quick, with a 6 turn limit to get the antennae as the club was getting ready to close up, so the tension was on!
I was defending, and deployed 4 guys in the pods, with an HMG in a small copse of trees and a sniper in a watchtower. Ed deployed his attackers roughly equally around the compound in teams of two. he started by blowing a section of fence so that one team could attack one of the pod spawn points (we decided any pod with an enemy in couldn't be used to spawn). My HMG took one down but as my men rushed to intercept them they were all taken down by defensive fire, including a 6" pistol fight that left my guy on the ground (happened a lot). Another team eventually hacked the gatehouse and came in behind the buildings, taking down my reinforcements as they came out (one of Ed's troops survived 3 bursts from a rifleman, and took him out with reactive fire. The trooper who won the pistol duel rushed the green pod and riddled the poor sniper who had spawned inside, then dodged a shot from my troops into the pod to claim it as his own. The guards took a few down, but they were soon swarming over the walls again.
Eventually Ed's medic made a dash to the antennae in his last turn, having taken all but one of my defenders down, to plant the c4 with his last order. My guys respawned in the pods on the far side of the radar, and I had just 5 orders to get to the array and disable the bomb, but Ed had 2 men on the objective, a sniper watching the approach and an HMG in the woods watching the path I would have to take. My first trooper ran out to duel with one of the soldiers in the open, but got taken down by the sniper behind him. My next soldier took fire from 4 AROs, and didn't stand a chance. With only 3 orders left, I only had 2 troops in the game. One tried to clear the way for the sniper by taking out one of the antennae defenders, but got downed himself, which just left the sniper 2 orders to make a dash for the objective, taking fire from 4 attackers with each move. He ran out of the pod with his first order, surviving several hits. The first move of the last order just let him reach the antennae, but set off 2 AROs which caused two wounds and would kill him after he tried to defuse the bomb. With the last roll of the dice for the last order of the last turn of the game to decide who won or lost, I needed to roll a 13 or under to defuse the bomb on one dice...
It was really nice to actually play a game on our own terrain, and it all worked really well. We could take fences out as they were destroyed, hack the gate and had the roofs off the pods so we could put our respawning defenders in them. it really did feel like a game of Battlefield, with troops spawning, rushing into the battle and getting shot down, C4 going off and defenders trying to spread out before getting plugged by the attackers, and the time pressure of the other guys packing up really ramped up the tension! . Definitely be playing again!

But between day jobs, housework and cutting orders and shipping them off, I did find some time this evening to mess about with the roads. But anyway, as you will be able to see from the renders I added some colour, yeah OK so its only flat colour, but its a start eh
Also some dragons teath, as singles and a strip of 5.

We could cut some as a custom job, TBH it wouldn't be for a while as we have a grand total of no spare time right now
SO anyone who's tried to contact us will know we've been pretty much off the radar for a couple weeks now, I've been switching jobs at work to try and free up more time for Warmill (real life or toys? Real life or toys?...) and Ed's been having fun with students needing help and freelance work, the end result of which is we've pretty much sent orders out and nothing else recently :(
Our other big time sink at the moment has been getting a whole bunch of terrain painted up, to be used for new box art graphics (there's a few holes in our photo collection) and also catalogue photos for the retailer price list we've been trying to get done since before Christmas! All things going well, we should have price lists sent out to shops around the time of Salute so fingers crossed in a couple of months you should be able to find Warmill products in a whole bunch of shops! Once that job's out the way we'll have some time to get back on designing new products, as that's the real fun side of the business
Salute is also where you'll be able to see this terrain in the flesh, painted by our own fair hands, being used to run demo games of Infinity by Simple Miniature Games, so be sure to pop by and tell Graham how great we are!
Once Salute's out the way, new projects include:
- new themed PUP buildings to expand the range. First up will be a Noodle Bar, cos everyone loves noodles in the future
- Ed's modular low-level and elevated roads as seen above, these are pretty much ready to go and just need detailing applied. We're going to try and get some done for the Salute board if possible, as they're very big and cool!
- a modular facility set, that can be customised with themed modules to be a research lab, weapons factory, prison, power plant, etc etc and would be perfect for interior battles. It'll also be compatible with the PUP walkways
- scatter terrain as seen above, alien-themed relics etc
- finish that stupid Valkyrie conversion set! It's been a project since before Warmill, but got put on hold when I managed to screw up updating the software for my CNC
- a great big hammer that could be good for dreadknight conversions. The master's been machined, we just need to clean up a cast for re-moulding.
- lots more as time allows!
Here's some pics, see you all at Salute!
Harry and Ed
PS Silver we have seen your email, we don't check that address very often! We'll get a reply to you shortly!

Pretty awesome colony table there
How easy is it to reach into the walkways which have another walkway on top? Or can the walls be removed for access?
Also - don't worry about the email - I actually sent it to some random guy who came up first on the email drop down list when I typed in "war" (their stupid surname was alphabetically superior ) and it was a couple of weeks before I realised and sent it out to you. And as you know I work super slowly, so it does not matter
Love the idea of noodle bars - can think of a whole raft of quasi-japanese/chinese future shops that could come from that - those little witch doctor/shaman PUPs etc... thinking about Fifth Element's mix of old school and super futuristic
Take lots of pictures at Salute - especially if you are showing off a potential new game

For just £15 these guys offer a 55 part, 154mm x 100mm x 73mm, beautifully designed building with an interior. What more could a hobbyist want?

Me and Ed have been rocking the Pirate 9000 the last few days churning out stock for Salute, but we still found a little time to work on the next batch of products . While Ed's been beavering away on the roads above I've been working on a sci-fi fast food unit, with an aim to it being compatible with the PUP walkways. Still at prototype stage but just needs a couple of construction elements looking at and lots of lovely detail added and it's good to go. Expect a range of futuristic takeaways to be available, starting with the cyberpunk classic, the noodle bar . Anyone who's into Infinity should find a place for it
I was thinking of calling the noodle bar Wang's House of Ho Fun but my girlfriend gave me a look

Post by: Evaelc
You should make the billboards interchangeable with other signage. Such as a panel and paint, home depot store and every other fastfood available to man in futuristic warfare. Just suggestions though.
41690
Post by: WarMill
The plan is to have 4 variant signs to start with, I guess the structure's generic enough to be an ammo shop etc as well as a takeaway.
Cost-wise it's hard to know for sure as it's still undetailed and the files need optimising but we should be looking around the same price point as a PUP. For the roads, the amount of MDF used is pretty immense but machine time is fairly low for the amount of parts so we'll probably sell it as a bigger kit with a minimum of 4 sections but make the relative cost per part slightly cheaper. We're going to try and get a set of roads on the Salute board as a nice feature, they just look awesome from any angle

Chop sui, fi dollah! Love the grinning face logo. Would really love to see the store suspended in some walkways... I think it might need some kind of "hole in the wall" companion store - more along the lines of a small store welded onto a walkway section... Something like this but a mini PUP which is only as wide as a walkway section and not quite as long... (in fact, take one of the PUPS, turn it on its side, and shrink it down so it is large enough for 1.5-2 people to stand side to side inside ) the kind of thing that can just be jammed between support struts to feed hungry workers without them having to tramp all the way to a larger food provider, or used as a kind of storage pod for repair/construction tools, power packs etc that acts as a half way house between the main stores and the workforce. Or even have some wheels/hover unit/etc added and used as a cheap transporter/mobile store/etc.

First off, congrats on the noodle shop, and for that matter all the stuff you've been churning out lately. Now that that's out of the way, I second silver's idea about the small utility/ food kiosk pods, they seem like a fantastic way to use space under/ around the walkways and roads. I love what you guys are doing lately, just fantastic work on your terrain lines. The best part is how consistent all of your stuff looks, it works so well together. Keep up the good work guys, you'll be seeing my tax return shortly I'm certain of that haha

I don't know if you had considered making them fold the other way, so that stuff can drive over them when they are folded down? Though if they are staying in that orientation, would you be able to design them so that they fit into a more uniform rectangular size when they are folded? Seems to me that transporting these as is with the two prongs sticking out of the bottom would be problematic, even for people in the future Also, they might be quite cool as a built in section for the roads - flip up barriers for blocking off streets to important buildings etc.

I have an idea for a new style for (neon green or blue) jewel bases.
Imagine a Tau (or Infinity) general watching the battlefield with a modern computer display showing him all information of every soldier in realtime. Imagine a mix of "Dawn of War 2", Terminator movie or Predator style mixed with a segmented radar screen (maybe with alien glibberish added to the larger than 25mm bases). More detailed and also more uniform than your HiTech Alien design, your Ancient techron design is the closest so far. I think, something like that would have potential for many gamers playing modern SciFi armies and definitely something I would be interested in. What do you think? (I might make a custom design, but I am not that good in graphics).
Edit: On second thought I think, just making fine crosshair bases (8 segments à 2-4 parts) would be a good start, maybe add Xeno signs with larger bases. Lines would have to be finer that the HiTech base design of yours.

That actually something i've approached the guys about already. I'm wanting to have that sort of design for the 500 points of marines i bought. Haven't built them yet though so haven't placed an order obviously but it's something i think is going to look really good on the table. I was going to go with clear bases and paint/ink in the details or get them done in red and paint the 'non details' black. Haven't decided yet.

Post by: WarMill
Hi guys!
No real mystery to our absence, we've just been stupidly busy!
We have indeed been out and about at a couple of conventions, the Legionary show in Exeter (our first show ever, and only a bit shambolic! As in, the guy who had our painted terrain was in New York so we spent the morning at the show hurriedly assembling anything we could find to put on our table ) and Campaign in Milton Keynes, which is where the photos came from (also shambolic: some idiot (me) forgot the painted fortress and the cash box, so the first morning of the show was spent hurriedly assembling a table edge outpost and buying coffees with £20s to make change .
We've also been on the networking trail, meeting lots of people at Salute, especially since it turns out Ed knows half of the industry already! We've been talking to a few people, and hopefully we should have a distributor and a few other exciting things to report soon.
Products-wise, we're back on it, starting with the Barricade Fortress upgrade kit which has been sat around 90% done for way too long. Files have been tweaked and finalised, we just need to finish painting the box art set and get the instructions and labels finished. We're going to have it up for pre-order by the end of the month.
The noodle bar is not far off, we just need to paint one up, tweak the acrylic parts slightly, then do instructions and labels. We should have it available next month, probably towards the end of it .
The roads are making Ed want to smash things, but we're aiming to have the models done shortly with the intention of getting them out next month as well, but consider that flexible!
The little warpgates will be on the website as soon as we get some painted for pretty pictures.
The Slum sign on the pod is an early concept piece for a range of themed PUP addons. These won't be about any time soon, but it shows we're thinking about it
Cheers all, we'll have some painted stuff to post as soon as we get it done!
Harry

Sure, i'll just dig out the post. WarMill wrote:Once Salute's out the way, new projects include: - new themed PUP buildings to expand the range. First up will be a Noodle Bar, cos everyone loves noodles in the future - Ed's modular low-level and elevated roads as seen above, these are pretty much ready to go and just need detailing applied. We're going to try and get some done for the Salute board if possible, as they're very big and cool! - a modular facility set, that can be customised with themed modules to be a research lab, weapons factory, prison, power plant, etc etc and would be perfect for interior battles. It'll also be compatible with the PUP walkways - scatter terrain as seen above, alien-themed relics etc - finish that stupid Valkyrie conversion set! It's been a project since before Warmill, but got put on hold when I managed to screw up updating the software for my CNC - a great big hammer that could be good for dreadknight conversions. The master's been machined, we just need to clean up a cast for re-moulding. - lots more as time allows! Harry and Ed WIP sneak peek of the first module for the facility set

Hello!
Have some pics!
Far to late to make any sort of written sense, so have some pics! I thin they;re done! The shouldn't look that much different from previous images, other than they 'work' as far as making them in MDF is concerned and now we are able to take the small 'feet' off of the model, and replace them with the elevated high leg thingys!! (two toys in one!)
Next we cut some prototypes and double check everything fits!
The first image is 950 x 700 mm just to give you an idea of scale!!!!

Yeah I think the legs are somewhat shorter - had a go at laying out all the pieces so we can get some prototyped and used in a game see how they work, although I really don't want to model them again! Lol!
I accommodated a local to help paint and stuff so all in all we should see a quick turn around (famous last words!) of this toy!

Heh! not long now!
How should we present them? I guess we could make a general green gaming table with roads on them, and take a pic.
Or just the individual items on a white background....I suppose we need both. We would need to convey that the roads are modular and can be positioned any way you like, but we're also limited to how much space we have on a box!
We were also wondering how to sell them, as not many people are going to want just one road section - se we thought about a couple of ways around this....
Either 'enough pieces to fit on a 4x4 table, 8x6 etc'
Or 3 straights a corner and two rams in a box.
I made the frames they fit on big enough to fit in the fortress box, (which is big) but not sure we can buy a shallower box in height - so you could order one strait, and receive it in a 100mm high box! (which would be ludicrous!)
Just thinking out loud

Post by: SilverMK2
Personally I think a series of roads weaving in and out of the PUP setup you had a while ago (looked like some knd of Ice Station Zebra kind of base) would look pretty awesome for a general "in use" style picture.
Otherwise, a plain picture against a white background would be best.
I don't know if you saw them, but S6 sold "layouts" of road, where you got the pieces to make up a pretty cool road set up, ranging from a simple city block, up to an entire city
Also, have you considered making legs to raise up buildings etc to the same level as the upper road sections?
21364
Post by: FM Ninja 048
I would say do it by lenght;
so something like "12inch high straight" "32inch low straight" .
then sell corners/ramps seperatly.

Awesome new stuff! I was looking back over your site and found the Gate Kit.
Would 60mm bases fit readily up top? Could two fit in each tower? I'm definitely thinking about getting it and want to make sure IG heavy weapons won't be stacking up or falling all over the place. Would be a great addition to my current Security Compound.
Thanks!

Hey!
Thanks for all the comments!
Not sure of the size off the top of my head, the towers allow for a single 60mm base, and the top of the gatehouse is bigger than that!
I'll get Harry to reply with the dims.

Box art I would like to see an in game style picture with some of your other fine products but with a little photoshop knowledge applied so that the roads are bright and everything else is shaded just a little to display to the less intelectual that your not getting an entire city just the roads.
contents I would suggest if it is possible either two straights and a couple of corners or can you do a bumper pack of roads and allow us insane hobbyists to pick what goes in?
I realise that this is stretching the possibilities with web design but it would be cool if us customers could have a virtual table (possible a couple of different sizes) so that we can click and drag different road pieces onto it to plan our tables with that would become our order basket???
41690
Post by: WarMill
! Great idea - we did think about something like that whereby you could build a board aka ikea kitchen planning software! Although we would have no idea how to implement that and I'm sure would cost a pretty penny to get some one to do it for us!!
May things to consider, I like the idea of an in use image with some Photoshop action going on!
