Not sure how much of a shelf there is under the back of the wing there, but maybe a sort of upside-down double fin (like fangs) on the very back there could work?

Medium of Death, I like your thinking with the LoS bits.
Anvildude, thanks for the suggestion mate. I'll give it a try and see what I think.
The Violators on the back burner today though as what little time I did manage was spent building another couple of characters and doing a little painting. The characters I'll show tomorrow but here's as far as I got with the paint.

You know, there's just something about the whole concept of a nose axe on a muzzle that I like. I'll have to see if I can ever fit it in somewhere with Orks or something.

Ok here are the characters I knocked up both are reworks of earlier characters.
First up is Varrus KinSlayer
Here was his very first mockup.
Which progressed to this.
And here is how he looks now, I decided to just build a dedicated Kharn proxy so went for a more wysiwyg look.
The Greenstuff needs a lot of tidying on his faceplate. I did it late at night in poor light and at the time thought it looked fine. :-/
Next up is the main man himself. Lord Malek Deimos. Captain of the 18th Assault. Who fought alongside Angron on Armageddon and still feels the sting of his primarchs defeat here.
Originally he looked like this.
I decided he wasn't dynamic or imposing enough so grabbed a few bits and changed him to this. Obviously still a lot to be done but I think this is his final build. I may swap the head in the future but for now I'm more than happy with him.
I also finished the Jugger

Post by: KrautScientist
Whoa, buddy, seems like you've been burning the midnight oil there! So much new stuff to comment on!
1.) Jugger champ
I am so glad you finally got around to using that jugger for something! Love the paintjob so far, and the rider should look great too, once you adda couple of bitz and give him "the earz"
2.) Warpsmith
Love the choice of head, and the Raptor legs you chose should give him the necessary heighth so as not to be dwarfed by all the servo-arms. Have fun getting those sorted out, btw! A task that almost drove me mad while converting my own warpsmith The one thing that really doesn't work for me is that bog standard sword arm, though: It's not WYSIWYG, of course, but I could care less. It seems far too plain, though: A true warpsmith needs something more ostentatious!
Apart from that, the WIP shows such promise! Love the DA smokestacks on the back! That's one element I wish I had added to my own warpsmith, but I simply ran out of room on that blasted backpack
3.) Varrus Kinslayer
I love how this guy gets better and better all the time. The newest version, although only slightly tweaked, perfectly conveys how a) he is just about to throw himself at an enemy and b) said enemy is in for a world of hurt. I am a huge fan of that particlar axe as well.
4.) Deimos
Man, I hate myself for this, but I have to be honest with you: I think I like the older version better. For some reason, the new build lacks the bulk and threat of the older version. On the bright side, I like the helmet crest and the GK bolter, but the torso's still looking too loyalist (you have to get rid of that =][= symbol, for one), and the head's a little too plain as well. I think this guy will need some more work (although I am more than certain that you'll hit it out of the park...eventually )

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks for checking them out buddy.
For the Warpsmith the sword is jut a stand in until I finalise the placement of his servo arms I can't really sort out his weapon arms. He will have the axe of his office.
As for Malek like I say there's still a lot to be done to him. I haven't touched the chest piece yet I'd just stick it all together to see if I was happy with the look and I am. So now I can start to sort out the details.

Do you have any kind of cloak to put on him? I'm thinking that either the Wolf Guard pelt or the WHFB Chaos Chariot cloak would set him off. I quiet like that you can still tell that it is Grey Knight armour. It could be from one of the 100 Grey Knights slain when they banished Angron on Armageddon, your Lord having defiled it post battle. I quite like the head that you have chosen, but for an alternative what about the Chaos Space Marine champion head? I think you had planned to use it on Varrus originally. He is looking great too. Think he needs to be charging up a mound of skulls though. EDIT Or maybe even this head?
47296
Post by: Biohazard
I'm not to keen on a cloak to be honest. I do however have that head. I'd have to remove the horns to get it fit in the armour but that could be worth looking at. Dead Space Termi armour hmm.

Been away for a while but I return to see some great stuff Your Jugger is painted beautifully
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks buddy.
So I've been a little snowed under again lately so haven't had a lot of time for modelling. I did have a free day yesterday though so built something that's been in bits for ages.
I've made my own Storm Eagle wannabe type thingy.
I used the Chapter House extension kit but I have to say I wasn't impressed with it at all. The base piece was very flimsy and there's a lot of gaps needing filled.
I also came back to the Lord for riding on my Jugger that I painted a while back. I'm still torn on wether to give him the bunny ears as I really like the new Chaplain head.

Post by: sennacherib
Really like the juggerlord.
And the conversion work on the Ax. NICE.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Good to see this thread updated again, buddy!
As for your latest work, boxy Astartes flyer is boxy -- but I am no big fan of those vehicles anyway, so don't mind me
The chaplain head on the jugger rider is great, though: I guess I'd leave the bunny ears off in this case: It should make for a more standout piece that way. Maybe you could add a horsehair crest or a flowing topknot or something like that? There are matching crests in both the Centurion and Sternguard kits.
Also, that axe conversion is even more clever than it seems at first glance. Fantastic work!
35006
Post by: Medium of Death
Both flyers look really good.
That chaplain head works really well. I think adding the khorne bits would clutter it up.
What colour are you thinking for the face? Bone or Gold/Brass?
Brass with the eyes weeping a little blood might be suitably horrific.
Love that power cleaver/axe.

I love this thread though the beginning is a little harder to decipher because of the lost pictures...
Was so looking forward to seeing that Gorehound finished!

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have to agree I think it could be a little busy with the ears as well. The head will be my brass/bronze with white eyes. If you remember Krixus you'll see what I mean
As for the axe I'm
Glad it was noticed. It was a little fiddly but I love the look of it.

Very nice minis, very well made, both here and all over the thread!!
One question..where does the chain of the Juggernaut's rider come from??
47052
Post by: GuitaRasmus
I love your new terminator lord, and the pose on the juggernaut lord - absolutely amazingly dynamic - I just wish you'd give him another head, I don't think it anywhere near matches his menacing look.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks for the commens guys. Legio the chain is from the Warshrine kit I bought a while back to use for bits.
Guitarasmus, I've been looking at this model all week trying to psych myself up to paint him and I have to agree. The Chaplain skull is nowhere near sinister enough. I'll see what I can knock together later.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Here are some pics of what I've been up to. First is a group shot of most of the WIP stuff I have minus Slaghterblade superheavy and the two flyers.
The bikes and raptors are finally paint in progress. For the Raptors I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm not sure wether to give all the squad gold helmets or just the champion? Thoughts?
Skull Champion Khorda is also finally PIP.
Once I finish him both my 8 man Zerker squads will be fully painted. I'm not even sure why it's taken me so long to get round to painting him???
Made a base for the Gorehound. Ignore the head as I'll be going back to the last design. I was just messing around with bits.
It still needs a lot of detailing before paint. I'm just waiting on the filler (which has been mixed with sand so will be textured as well but the white makes it very hard to see) drying before attacking it with more slate/sand etc.
And this sign I was thinking of writing Keep of the grass but someone on instagram suggested 'Beware of the Dog' which is a much better suggestion
I also have a final build of Malek Deimos. Hopefully the storm bolter looks better?
And something I've had in my head for a while. Looking at a few threads with a Nurgle slant recently has obviously corrupted me. This will be painted in Death Guard colours more than likely. Im still trying to decide which foot I like best, Im leaning towards the claw rather than the hoof.

Whoa! WHOA! Absolutely outstanding, buddy! I don't know where to look first: It's all so good!
Picking favourites seems unfair, but damn, that Helbrute! Is that the DV Helbrute under there somewhere?! I think he'd make an equally good Daemon Prince, by the way. Amazing work!
And Deimos...mate, I'm so sorry for doubting you when you posted your last WIP on him: This IS his definite version: that armour! And the rebreather mask is a marvelous fit! Still need to get rid of that =][= symbol on the chest, though
More! Give us MORE!

Post by: Medium of Death
Deimos looks like a bad ass. Just ooze's brutality.
That Helbrute is an absolute king. He looks like a monster. He almost looks like he could counts as a Contemptor.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Krautscientist, thanks buddy. That is indeed the DV Helbrute. I had two of them and have wanted to do something with them for a while. I'm thinking it's almost time to answer the call of Papa Nurgle as a side project as my loyalist marines are going nowhere.
Medium of Death, it's only thanks to you this conversion came about. I was looking at the bits you sent while I had the DV Brute in my hand and kinda though 'what if??'

Some Death Guard allies wouldn't be too odd, it would enable you to experiment with some other weird stuff. Sorcerers, zombies, Grave Wardens...
By the way, are you also going to get that Imperial Knight kit?
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Hey buddy,
let me return for a more detailed reply. Don't take this as nitpicking, though: I am still completely blown away by your latest update -- can't stop looking at Deimos and that Helbrute. So much WIN!
Anyway, a couple of comments/suggestions:
Raptors:
I have to admit that these look a bit too much like Blood Angels, at the moment, although Raptors: that's probably only because none of the bronze trim is in place as of yet. If you're going to keep the helmets, I'd go with either bronze or bone coloured helmets for the whole squad. Bone coloured might work well with the helmet design -- it looked great on DeathPod's Raptors , for instance.
Titan base:
The shield on the Gorehound's base definitely needs to be about dogs However, why not go the whole grimdark hog and present it in High Gothic: cave canem
That ruin is just beautifully put together, btw.
Deimos:
Still blown away by this guy! it's obvious he needs some slight cleaning up, but seeing how parts of him are only tacked together atm, I am confident you're already on the case. The Inquisitorial seal needs to be removed, like I said. Have you considered using the GK hand holding a servered daemonette head by its hair for his left hand? That bit just exudes such careless brutality that it would be a perfect fit for his off-hand, plus it would nicely complement his sword hand. Give me a shout if you need that hand, I have it lying around and haven't used it for anything yet.
And another idea to consider: If you wanted to replace his drum-fed ammofeed, what about using some of the dangling ammo feed that came as a separate bit with the older CSM heavy bolters? Just an idea...
Helbrute:
I've got nothing on this guy -- he is pretty much perfect as is. So many clever little ideas on him: Using the magma cutters as his upper arms, the Centurion cables behind his faceplate,... marvelous! We are talking GuitaRasmus levels of coolness here, and no dice about it!
Come to think of it, not only could he be used as a DP or Contemptor (as someone on B&C suggested), but maybe even as a Decimator (might be a bit too small, though...). While it seems a shame not to see him painted in the glorious colours of the 12th, I can certainly understand your interest in Nurgle - happened to me too, if only for one squad and a couple of single models
Anyway, utterly amazing work! You're making your fellow legionaries look bad, brother...
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Malika2, that's my thinking exactly. I already have some ideas for a Typhus conversion as well as a Sorceror.
Kraut, Thanks for the suggestions on the Raptors, I think I'll paint all the trim before deciding on a helmet colour.
Titan base, that's not a bad idea using the high gothic
I had looked at that hand but it's a power armoured hand, I used it on Krixus a while back the only Termi armoured one I have is holding a Bloodletter head which I did think was quite fluffy but just looked a little odd. I'm going to look for some chan fed ammo as I quite like that suggestion.
Main reason the Helbrute will be DG is I don't see it fitting with the rest of my WE. There's a bit too much fancy details for the no nonsense XIIth I don't know if he could be used as a Decinator although he is fairly big.

Post by: Lint
That hellbrute's boot looks so stompy. I love it!
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
I don't want to shoot down your DG idea, since that model will look absolutely delicious in any colour, but using him as a Decimator, Contemptor or, heck, a Maulerfiend would get rid of the problem of it looking different from the other Dreads in your army: Maybe this guy is a daemon engine rather than a mere machine? Maybe he was elevated beyond the state of his lesser Dreadnought kin? Maybe he was important enough to be given a more exalted shell upon his death?
Anyway, not trying to talk you into anything here, and if you've got plans for a small DG spin off project, that's ace! But it would be a shame for this guy to not end up as part of a larger formation in some way or form. Plus I am confident he would rock in red and bronze.
On a related note, I am facing exactly the same problem atm, having just started painting my own DV Helbrute and needing to figure out a place for him in the 4th assault company...

It's cool buddy. Like is say it's just an idea at the moment. If I don't go Death Guard I may go Undivided ie Black Legion.
Here's a quick look at how the Gorehound stands at the moment. Added a couple of bits to the base and remembered I hadn't shown the progress on the Turbo laser.

Post by: Theophony
I have to say the helbrute would look better in your red as well. I love me some deathguard, but the rounded curves on the armor pieces make me think more bluffing biceps and muscles over bloated walking corpse. Could you not field him as a daemon prince, one that had been trapped inside a dreadnought before being elevated? He has done so much carnage and defeated so many foes since being entombed that khorne has granted him prince priveledges. Also I think a huge mace for him might be awesome. Model a downed foe smashed into the pavement and the mace completely seperate from this model so you can add it on or take it off the base.

Glad I could provide some of the materials necessary to build it. It's worked out great.
I'd love to see it as a Death Guard dread. A more organic Nurgle force to contrast your World Eaters will be sweet.

Ahhh! So much awesomeness! I don't know where to begin.
Glad to see so many things getting love and attention. Malek Deimos looks like a total badass. So does Khorda and glad to see him getting some paint. So many amazing things coming to light.
Hellbrute is looking so solid. Great conversion and kit bashing work on him.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Theopony, sorry buddy. As much as I like the idea he's gonna be Nurgle.
Medium of Death, that's my thought exactly. I'm thinking the DG would give me more option to show slight mutations etc. nothing crazy and I'll probably avoid the bloated look. As for the Gore hound that's why I'm trying to push to finish it. I'd love to see it scaled next to a Knight. I will be buying a Knighy at some point but I'm working on getting rid of the mass of unpainted plastic before I buy anything new. I'd be looking at Kitbashing the Knight with The Lord of Skulls I think.
Moltar, thanks for the support buddy.

After downloading the Dataslate: Helbrutes I've decided I want nay NEED to add a Helfist Murderpack to my army. I'll stick to the same style as my older Ven Dread based ones but I'm looking forward to coming up with an Alpha Helbrute. I'm not so sure how to arm the next 3 yet though.
I don't really care about the rules of the Murderpack but I think the idea of a group of rabid Brutes fits the fluff of my army perfectly. I've also decided the large flyer and te Storm Lord will be folded into another project.
I have a couple of ideas for a thunder hammer not sure how Ill adapt the scourge. Valerius the Elder will be repurposed for use in the XIIth My imperial marines are a no go so I may as well put him to work.
Valerius the Elder will be the first to turn to the Blood God.

Hey Biohazard, I was introduced to your blog by your good friend Krautscientist, having a Khorne focused army it's great to see him come up with great models and conversions, then he just put in a good word about you and i thought i would check out all the buzz. I have been using the day to catch myself up on yours, and i would like to say that you have a lot of good stuff, like those walkers, holy cow man! I just wanted to say that its been great looking at all of your work, and keep it up!
P.S. You will probably be seeing more of me from now on, for better or worse.

Hey welcome along. Kraut has been a constant source of inspiration for the past few years. And thank you for the kind words on the walkers. I'll hopefully have an update on the Valerius dread and possibly the Gorehound in the next few days.

I got a bits delivery today but haven't had a lot of time due to one thing or another. I wanted to show a mockup of parts of the bits dump though. I love these pieces as the trim will match pretty closely to the bits I got from Subtle Discord.
Gorehound has shoulders.
tomorrow I hope to re attach the exhaust vents on the back and box up the rest of the shoulders as well as come up with a decent mechanism to join the torso to the legs.

Now that i have finished reading this entire thread, i wish to say HORY SHET! This stuff is amazing. As of late i have decided to make an iron warriors army and this thread has been my sponge of ideas! When i get my next paycheck i'm going to acquire some delicious kits to build my own walkers and work towards my own gorehound!!
Also, i was looking at bitzbarn and in the Ogre kingdoms ironblaster kit, there is a large metal 'iron gob' shaped thingy in the kit, just thought i should mention that as it would look great on one of your dreads or walkers!
Thanks for reading!

The shoulder parts came from the Lord of Skulls's undercarriage, didn't they? Another proof of your brilliant eye for kitbashing opportunities!
The new shoulders look amazing, although I have to say I really don't like the new (placeholder?!) head: The mouth grille has a bit of an Optimus Prime thing going on, for some reason, which would be cool on any other model, but not here. You were going to go back to the older head design anyway, though, weren't you?
In any case, amazing work, buddy! Seems like you're on fire atm

Post by: Biohazard
Thunderfury, thanks for checking it out. It's a bit of a mess at the start of the thread due to a screw up but the later pages are where the real work is.
ChaosEmperor, thanks buddy. The icon on the shin is from the Bloodcrusher kit I think and the icon on the loincloth is from the daemon Bloodletter gun thingy. I can't remember what it's called at the moment.
Moltar, thanks buddy.
Krautscientist. You're right again buddy that is indeed the undercarriage for The Lord of Skulls. As for the head it is a placeholder until I rebuild the last version. It came apart in the drop so I thought I'd try something different. Hated it from the second I glued the grille on. It's off now though.
Brother of Bone, you're right he does look like Trickosaurus lol.
Tonight I'm mostly working on trying I detail the rear of the Gorehound. No pics of that yet but I did take 5 mins to knock this together. When I built the Lord for my Jugger I couldn't quite capture the aggression in the face I really wanted so I went back to the drawing board. When I saw the leaked pic of the new Helbrute I knew exactly what head to use so I jumped straight onto the bits sites. When the was arrived I saw that thankfully it wouldn't take a lot to adapt it to my needs.
Here's the results. Let me know what you think.
obviously still needs some cleanup. But I think he looks as mean as a Bloodthirster in a pink tutu.

Thanks guys.
This updates a little later than I intended but due to starting a new job in the hospital and the endless induction this entails means I've been a little short of time lately. If you remember though I was rattling on about building a Helbrute Alpha for my eventual Murderpack, I've started knocking bits together but I'm not 100% sold on the head or the claw yet. I have another idea for the claw which I'll get to as soon as I can but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on his head. I think what bugs me about it is the other brutes have a faceplate over a load of sensors/wires where as this guy has a fully enclosed head. C+C most welcome. Also note this isn't necessarily his final pose. I've had another notion on that front as well. Haha.
Onto the pics.
I can't help but feel the head needs to look angrier.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Hey buddy,
I think it's an amazing start! Some suggestions, if I may:
- the claw is nice and brutal, but maybe a bit too primitive for CSM? What about using one of the mean looking chainsaws from the Ork Killa Kanz? While those might look fairly primitive as well, there's just something about World Eaters and chainsaws that instantly clicks, don't you think? In any case, I think I'll wait for your second claw idea before casting my vote
- I see where you're coming from regarding the head, but I think the warsphinx skull you used is a very nice fit. What about making it more techy by inserting eye lenses into the eye sockets? The tips of chaos smoke launchers work like a charm, btw!
- I like the added height provided by the sentinel legs, but personally speaking, I would try to get hold of a set of maulerfiend armour plates to add more bulk to the legs (see several of Rasmus's conversions to see what I mean). That way, you keep the height but slightly avoid the "chicken walker" look.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to seeing the next update on this guy!

Post by: Anvildude
Something you could think of doing with this guy is going for a deliberately 'unbalanced' build.
He's got the one arm which is the traditional Space Marine no-shoulder-elbow-rist gun-in-a-box, then the other arm which is leagues longer- maybe exagerrate that difference? Pull the arm longer still, and get a bigger, heavier pincer on the end (could possibly just add some chaos trimming to the current claw, could go with a chain-pincer). It could maybe even be possible to build the arm with a tentacle bundle as the primary connection system, so it's a sort of controlled flail- then you'd be able to use that side-heavyness of the model to create some very dynamic and interesting poses- suitable for the Alpha of a whole Hellbrute pack.
I think Kraut's got the right idea about the eyes getting cyber implants- also, maybe look into putting a full on Khornate crest on the forehead where the Tomb Kings crest usually goes. Having a fancy hat is one of the perks of leadership, after all.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Oh, two more small things I forgot: 1.) I think what would look great on the head would be to add another hose to the faceplate, perfectly symmetrical to the one that's already there, and have them both look like they are plugged in right behind the maxilla (not sure whether I am making sense, but think the Helbrute head you used on your jugger lord: It has the same element). 2.) Looking at GuitaRasmus's latest Helbrute conversion made me realise you could also use Dreadknight armour plates instead of the Maulerfiend ones. And seeing how you sent me quite a few Dreadknight plates a while back, if you need them back now for this conversion, just let me know, buddy!
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys. Kraut. You mentioning the Dreadknight plates have me an idea.
The legs have been reworked a little as has te claw which is still clearly very WIP. I wanted to add a couple of details as a nod to the new Helbrute kit as well. I'm unsure wether to add blades along the same lines as the Raptors lightning claws or run with this. I hope he looks a little less chicken legged now?
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
I think the armour plates are promising and do a nice job of adding some much needed bulk to the legs -- they could do with some "chaosing-up", but it's getting there. Personally speaking, I'd do something about the model's waist, since this guy is looking *very* wasp-waisted in the second and third pictures from the top. My last nitpick would be the gun arm, since it's currently letting the model down: It's jutting out at an awkward angle and looking far too stubby: maybe you should go with a rather long-barreled Reaper autocannon? That would look suitably brutal.
Apart from that, I really love the dynamism of the model, and the new claw looks ace! What do you think about my suggestions RE: the head, buddy?
Keep up the great work! This will be a BEAST!
EDIT: Oh, and maybe you should add bundles of cabling between the arms and torso: Both to form a stronger point of attachment for the arms, but also to slightly emulate the look of muscle, even though the model isn't mutated at all.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
The wasp waist will be taken care of and the arms will recover the Defiler ccw cabling like my other two dreads. The gun arm doesn't look too bad in person but I see what you mean.
As for the head I intend to do just as you suggested as soon as I find a matching cable
64018
Post by: Freytag93
Just as a side note, I really like the addition of the spine. It's something small, but it is a subtle conversion that just makes the model feel more chaosy and fit the whole grimdark 40k idea. Great work
80580
Post by: Legio Ultra
Very nice work on the Hellbrute, he looks rather brutal! One small suggestion would be if you could make the legs a bit more crouched, giving a "ready to leap on your face" look. The new claw is great, it you chose to put blades or spikes on the fingers i think it would be p[erfect!! Looking forward t see what comes next

Awesome work, as a fellow Khorne player I can say this is easily the best looking Khorne army I've seen for a while.

Wonderful work so far, buddy! Especially love the head!
What are those bitz you used as parts of the shoulder pads, above the chaos knight pauldrons?
Really looking forward to seeing an update regarding the alpha Helbrute as well!

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks buddy, the pauldrons are from the Dragon Ogre Kit, I ordered them ages ago. I've started to GS the Alpha as well but not a lot to show there yet. I'm hoping to work on him a little later tonight.

Berzerker's looking up to your usual brutal standard.
Loving that wee bit of terrain. Such nostalgia. I wish I knew where I'd put mine! I think i'll have to do a rummage...
Glad to see you back.
Get a tongue added to that Bloodthirster!

Real nice berzerker champ...the skull mask suits him just fine. And nice terrain as well!!

Post by: KrautScientist
Mate, I was seriously worried when I saw the "Everything's Ruined" addition to your thread title -- but it's just a pun on the latest piece of terrain, right? RIGHT?
Anyway, skull champion's already looking excellent! That's the skull mask of the plastic chaplain, isn't it?
Ruin's looking very cool as well, although I'd have painted the streetlight light blue, for that eerie St.Elmo's Fire look
Your latest kitbashes have been truly amazing, so I am really looking forward to your next update!

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks folks.
Kraut aside from an interesting reaction when I primed the Titan base and it dissolved all the polystyrene on it nothing's ruined Rest easy brother. As for more kitbashes, take a look.
First an update on the Gorehounds base, not as far along with detailing as I'd hoped but had to wait on the filler drying.
While waiting on that I revisited Warpsmith Zephon and messed with him a little.
Also looked at a slightly different mount on the Obliterator conversion. Using one of the Valkyries heavy bolter pintle mounts.

Post by: Legio Ultra
Really nice work on both the models and the base....loving the aggresive pose of the obliterator, very menacing And the warpsmith is great too. Where does his helmet come from??

You've got some awesome World Eaters here bro. I like the beginning of the obliterator conversion - he's going to look great when he's done.
The bloodthirster is spot on - I like him as is and wouldn't add the tongue.

Thanks guys, still undecided on the tongue.
Quick update, did a little rough GS on the Alpha Brute and tried adding some of Subtle Discords trim to the first Oblit to see how it looks. I like the chunky feel it gives but looking for some more opinions before doing the other leg.

Thanks guys, sorry for the lack of updates lately. Had a lot to deal with not least of which is finding out I'm going to be a father!!! So as you can imagine hobby time has taken a sligh backseat to r/l as we deal with changing my man-cave into a plausible space for a nursery.
I do hope to have some work done in the next couple of days but as usual I wouldn't hold your breath. I will say the Oblit now has trim on both lower greaves and I really like it. Trying to figure out a way of detailing the gauntlets without going OTT.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Whoa, buddy, congratulations! Those are amazing news! The lack of hobby time is a bit of a setback, of course, but there couldn't possibly be a better reason for it. Again, awesome news!
Of course it goes without saying that I am expecting you to choose a suitably Khornate name for your child. Skraal would be nice. Or Kargos. Or, of course, Lotara if it's a girl
Seriously, though: Congratulations!

Post by: Medium of Death
Congratulations on the news!
The models are looking great as per. The trim really sets those obliterators off, although I think a less organic head might work better now. Perhaps just a standard CSM head or even one of the regular Centurion heads as they have a kind of angry Kharn face going on.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks a lot guys. I couldn't be happier at the news.
Legio Ultra I had the same thought that the new guy outshines the 'leader' slightly. I'm only going to run two of them though so it shouldn't be a problem.
Medium Of Death, I did try the original heads back on the centurions I've also tried bunny eared heads as well but these are IMHO the best fit.

Nice work, Bio. I really like the way the helmet looks on the Obit/Cent. Where's it from? Is it just a chaos space marine helm?

Post by: Biohazard
The Gorehound is being worked on again, hoping to have something to show with that soon, Im mostly just gap filling at the moment so nothing much to really see. I have a few Ideas for an ursus claw that I want to try. If those don't work I may revert back to the giant chainblade. An army shot should be possible soon. I say should as most things are paint in progress finally.
Yellowbeard the Oblit heads are from the Chaos Raptors kit.

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks for the comments on the Oblits guys. I'll have more pics when I work on them again. For now I have picked up the Gorehound again. Just messing around with a few bits. Looking to add a cockpit, mine only has a single pilot in the head down to space and I'll just explain away that the rest of the crew are in the main torso. I don't think the chain blade is gonna cut it I just thought it could have been a good stand in if I did want to run it as a Knight.
Anyway onto the pics.
First off my newest tattoo on my right calf.
And now the Gorehound. Bear in mind I will have to do a LOT of cleanup on this before it is finished.

Inspiring stuff! Your titan looks fiercer and fierce as he takes form. And I'm liking the Warpsmith a lot. Nice balance of tech and Khorne.
80580
Post by: Legio Ultra
Very nice minis, the Gorehound is imposing and menacing, though you may be right about the chain blade...what if you made a longer arm for it?? And you nailed the Smith, with his mecha-tendrils and everything (never thought of that use of necron arms).
I still get to wonder where his head comes from...
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how Zephon has turned out. The Gorehound is closer to the image I had in my head when I first started this project but there's still a way to go yet. I figure it's taken over two years to get it to this point there's not much sense in rushing it now.
Legio Ultra, it was Krautscientist who originally used the Necron legs as arms for his awesome Warpsmith. As for the head it's a standard berzerker helmet with the faceplate from a Storm Talon pilot. Sorry I took so long to answer that.

You know, there's a disappointing lack of crushing or hacking weapons for very large walkers. You know, axes or maces or hammers...
47296
Post by: Biohazard
You do have a point, there really aren't any blunt titan sized weapons these days but I'm sore back In the Titan Legion days there were.
Now I've started adding a few bits and pieces to the Gorehound, I still have a lot of trimming/sanding/filing before I can even think about paint but to see it taking it's almost final form is very rewarding to me. Like I said before this has been a labour of love/hate. It's been rebuilt more times than I care to remember after various accidents or me simply changing my mind.
Here's how it stands just now.
The back I still need to trim The Lord of Skulls bits to fit on the rear of the shoulders and fill a few gaps. Not big jobs, just ones I haven't gotten around to you yet.
I also made a quick WIP for a new Skull Champ who if I ever play him will run as a Lord in PA. This guy will be Lord Deimos Headtaker known only as 'The Grizzly'. This guy was built to return the favour of Dorns_fist over on B&C. He made an awesome Mk6 Crimson Fist Vet and named him after myself a while back and I've been meaning to return the favour ever since. Like everything in my life though I'll get to it 'eventually' I haven't sorted out the full backstory for him yet but as soon as I do you will be the first to hear/read it.

That Gorehound is very nice, and it's great to see it on the final road to getting finished. I think it will really stand out on a battlefield!!
The character is very nice as well, I like the aggressive pose and the great chainsword. Oh and how do you manage to always get these great heads??? Where does this one come from??
The Warboss looks great too, and congratulations for making this scratch-built mega armour from a Sentinel, a Centurion, a Deff Dredd and I dare not guess what else. I particularly like his collar being an Horizontal space marine tank commander's body
Keep up the good work!!!

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys,
Legio Ultra, the head on the Champ comes from decorative skulls that come with the Khorne Skull cannon from the Daemons range. I like to look at unusual heads and splice them with the Zerker heads so that al my models have unique helmets at least.
As for the Warboss, good eye for bits but its the arms from a Dreadknight I used not the Centurions.

Post by: KrautScientist
No no no, buddy -- no getting distracted by the greenskins, now. You've got enough on your plate as it stands!
...
....however, I have to admit that your Waaaghboss is amazing! One of my main gripes with the new Meganobz is that it feels rather hard to use the kit to build a hulking, highly dynamic Boss in mega armour, and now you make it happen without a single Meganob bit -- nuts! If I were to change something about the model, I'd probably move the decorative jaw closer to the bosss actual face -- it looks slightly disjointed as it is. The feet should also be slightly more clunky, if you ask me, although I'd keep the sharp toenails Oh, and that neck is indeed a genius touch!
What about a small detachment of allied Orks? They are battle brothers, after all? Maybe they could even have a slightly Khornate touch...?
P.S. Did you get my PM?

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks buddy, I spend at least an hour or two everyday on eBay looking at bits. It's almost an obsession haha.
I decided the Warboss wasn't lookin as bulky as he could be after rebuilding the legs so added another couple of small bits to widen him a little, I think he looks more proportionate now. I broke down and have ordered a few bits though to finish this. I going for a new more armoured head and an actual Ork jaw bit, I may have another look at the klaw now as well. Hmmmm I just can't leave things alone!

Wow that guy is taller than a Dreadnought...Imposing to say the least, and really well made!! Two minor observations though:
the first is that now that i see him nest to that nob, his head looks a bit tiny
the secon is what's that Skaven pitchfork thing on his sholder supposed to be??
Real nice job though, well done and keep up the good work!!

I agree that his head is a bit small, but for the build it really works. Plus most Ork nob heads are, sadly, not as expressive as boy ones. Dammit GW!
The shoulder thing is actually a Grot-prod from the Ork grots kit, so I'm assuming it's somefink noice an' zappy!
I just noticed that his shoulder sockets are made out of tank hatches from the battlewagon kit - damn that's genius! What is his jaw bit from though?

Thanks guys, the head issue will be addressed. And the Jaw piece is from the Ogre Kingdoms. It was on the mantrap from the Stonehorn kit I believe?

Wot da zog? Dat ain't a World Eata! Orks actually fit your habit of looting and tinkering really well, and the world needs more dreadnought-sized MegaBosses. Well done. Also, the WE with the two-handed chainsword looks awesome and the Gorehound is amazing as usual. Dying to see paint on it and it's great to hear it's nearing completion, but for the love of skulls don't feel like you need to rush it, it's waited this long.

You know, I've always thought that the Gorehound needs chunkier front toes. The current ones just aren't... Toe-ey enough.

Post by: Biohazard
Ughhh ok. Any suggestions?
I added a different banner after a discussion with Krautscientist, I think I still prefer the Minotaur one but let me know your thoughts folks. I also messed about adding some pennant things I had in my bits box as a nod back to the old Epic Imperial Knights.
The one bit of this build that I'm struggling with is finding a piece to cover the gaps at the end of the shoulders. I really need to hunt through my bits to find something suitable.
54216
Post by: TheRobotLol
Really great work on the Gorehound thus far, wish I had the time to put towards something like that.
IMO, the old minotaur banner looks slightly better than the khornate one.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
Ah, sorry for not making myself clearer there: I prefer the Minotaur banner too, but I think it needs to be the other way around. I don't think it would actually mess with the model's composition and sense of movement that much, and the design on the banner makes it very clear with side is the correct front
The pennants are an awesome little touch! Maybe they'd be even cooler if they looked somewhat more tattered?! But it's just the kind of eclectic, archaic little detail a Titan needs!
Keep up the great work, buddy!
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Its cool buddy I was just showing the alternative Id knocked up. I quite like the pennants and agree they need to be more tattered. I might see if I can add some banners on the top. I have another couple of bits ordered to try and hide the Land Raider bits even more. They should be here in the next few days hopefully. If it works how I think it will I should be able to get everything fixed and glued so I can start the filling and cleaning process. The head will be the most time consuming in that respect I think.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
...and don't forget the cockpit, y'hear?
Seriously, though, if my Knight is anything to go by, sorting out the cockpit until you're completely happy with it will feel like a herculean task while you're working on it, but once you've finished, you'll feel like a king -- at least that's what happened to me
47296
Post by: Biohazard
The cockpit will be done, I feel I'd be doing myself an injustice if I didn't detail that area as well. I have a Sentinel pilot body now and it fits in the space a lot better than the SR turret I had in. I want to finish the main build before concentrating on that though. Any sign of your envelope yet? The Royal Mail site says it's pending delivery for the last couple days.
I can't wait till I have Deimos and his Terminator Bodyguard all painted as this pic will be retaken then.

Post by: Anvildude
Hrm... Toes...
One thing that would kinda fix them would be to take it from the sort of 'emu' setup it is now (two centered, one splayed to each side) and simply set the toes up so that it's two on each side. Even just splaying them evenly would help, I think.
Alternatively, though I know you don't do plasticard much, a single layer of the thicker stuff encasing the toes- even just over the top, would probably do the trick. Doesn't change the shape, just makes them feel a little sturdier.
55327
Post by: KrautScientist
No sign of the letter yet, buddy, sorry. But let's not lose hope just yet -- the German postal service is hardly a hugely efficient organisation at this point, so I have learned to be patient...
In other news, Deimos is still a ridiculously awesome model

I picked up a box of Cadians yesterday to use as casualties but after looking at the kit I decided to move plans forward to build some Traitor Guard/Cultists. I have ordered a set of Scions as well to use as an HQ type unit. These pics are very early WIP so still have all the Aquila etc. The plan is to have a PDF force who have only recently thrown in their lot with the Ruinous powers so haven't fully defiled their armour yet. Also as Khorne is the God of Martial Prowess I thought some hardened veteran guardsmen would fit more than zealous cultists. Although I have built my cultists from the new DV box as well.
34252
Post by: Squigsquasher
I like it! I feel the Cadians could do with a tad more chaosing up though- I know you're going with less defiled armour, but at the moment they look a bit too generic. I reckon paint could help though.
Here's an idea for a subtle conversion- give some or all of the troops some hands nailed to their armour- the hands of those who didn't fall to the whispers of chaos and were murdered by their brethren. Not sure what hands you'd use though- for my Emperor's Children I use Genestealer hands, but that's because I have a lot of spares. Also, they look a little large (I justify it as preservatives that the Chaos Marines have soaked their grisly trophies in, causing them to bloat to much larger than usual size as a side effect of the tainted oils).
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks buddy, all the Aquila and stuff will be removed and it's scary you mention hands as I have a couple of bits like that I was going to use on them. I'll get back to them on Friday I'll be going for pretty much the same colour scheme of the GW traitor guard in the Eye of Terror codex. A little different to my WE but still enough to tie them together.

So I've decided to have two Dreads armed with dual dccw. In game these will provide a shield for my Alpha and the other two who will have more ranged weaponry.
Early WIP on the DCCW Dread.
2nd Ranged Dread to stand alongside Voorhees. Ignore the mess of poster tack on these obviously GS will be tidier.
And using the new Dreads Torso on the Alpha, looking to add some rib detail to the torso. It's not quite there yet but I think I can make it work.
Let me know what you think folks.

That Helbrute Alpha looks positively beastly. I love it!
Also, you know what would look great on one of those Helbrutes/Dreadnoughts? A short ball-and-chain "flail" weapon. I started making one out of the Chaos Terminator mace head on a paperclip wrapped in modelling chains, although I have yet to construct an arm for it.

Beyond tallented! I really enjoyed this entire thread! thanks for posting it all!
I can't wait to see a finished Titan! I like Khorne but the models have been crap IMO, you make it all look 110% better! The way it should look. Serious details into everything including the older terrain ruins.
Master builder!
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Tinfoil, thanks buddy that means a lot coming from someone as talented as yourself.
Kelly502, thanks for checking my stuff out. On the subject of the older ruins there's another two awaiting final details and paint so expect to see them soon.
I've decided that this week is build week and the next few weeks will be paint week as I keep getting carried away buying/building stuff. The Traitor Guard will be worked on but only after I've finished a few World Eater units. I'm having to try and discipline myself as my mound of grey plastic is growing by the week.
On the note of Traitor Guard, I picked up a box of Bullgryns to go with the two boxes of Cadians and the Box of Tempestus Scions I have. I also got a heavy weapons team cheaply on eBay. It's starting to look like my Traitors could be a side army all of their own. As I've said before I want them to be very recent converts to chaos as such there won't be a lot of crazy mutations or even all that much spiky bits. I'll be trying to show their allegiance through the paint scheme more than anything. I wasn't sure how I was going to build the Bullgryns but after seeing how similar they are to the Locust Mauler from Gears of War I'm thinking a nice chain Maul and possibly some Ogre Kingdom helmets could work. Although I do like the creepy masks they have as standard.
I worked the idea of my Havocs a little more as well. Still have 4 to build but I'm happy with the progress so far.
As always comments and crits welcome.
34252

That Bullgryn is looking wonderfully creepy. love it.
I like the Havocs too, although the missile launcher needs a bit more chaosing up. Also, I kinda think the Havocs would look better without the "bunny ears".

On my Instagram I recently ran a giveaway for one of my followers. The winner got to choose a terminator model built by myself to his/her spec. The guy that won sent me some sketches of what he'd like and I started working on it. Not got a great deal to show but here's a little teaser whil I wait for some bits from Zinge industries. The guy wanted a Renegade rather than all out Chaos Termi so I decided to cut up some SW and DW legs to begin with. I'll probably remove the skull from the DW leg as the other one is much cooler. The blob of GS was just to get him to stand for the pics. It will be sorted.

Nice GD you got there (though I'm surprised such a devout follower of the Blood God would kitbash a Slaaneshi Daemon). If there's on thing missing, that would be a whip of some sort...
Good work once again!!

Sorry for not commenting earlier, buddy! That Keeper of Secrets is an excellent kitbash! The Tyranid legs are a perfect legs, with the carapace plates on the front looking rather Slaaneshi -- what a great fit! Personally speaking, I'd lose the ogre gut plate on the left shoulder, because it just looks too clunky. In fact, maybe you should try sourcing some more "elegant" armour plates and small trinkets, as would befit an elegant servant of the Dark Prince Dark Eldar vehicle bitz and the Dark Elf line might be worth a look.
And while the head's looking great, maybe you should give another lower jaw a try? The one you used seems a bit too broad to work with the skull used as a face.
But those are really just minor nitpicks -- inspired kitbashing, as always! More please!

Due to getting this
as an unexpected Crimbo pressie I'll soon be building something along the lines of these,
Or possibly a certain Daemon Primarch. I also have to build a lot more Zerkers and CSM to run my Kharns butcher horde.
So spent a bit of time on the Bloodthirster today, I'm still trying to figure this guy out so a lot of areas still need work. Especially the armour on the lower legs.
Then I started thinking about an axe for him. The one from the Ven Wolf Dread is far too puny. So I made a really really rough concept of an appropriate size.
Really enjoying working on this guy though and hopefully will have another update soon.

Thanks a lot folks, really appreciate it.
So understandably I haven't had a lot of time for hobby related work lately but I did throw this together last night. A berzerker taxi, transport is something Im sorely lacking in my army so I'm hoping to finally paint my Land Raider that's been primed black for ages and paint this at the same time. I still have a few details to add to this before paint but it's very nearly there.
And just to jog your memories here's what the Land Raider looks like. (Before primer)
Then if they both turn out alright I'll tackle this beast.

Loving the work on your rhino, What kit did you get the row of skulls on the front of the rhino? Automatically Appended Next Post: I was going through this whole blog for like..the 4th time hehe and i really like your method for converting heads for your berzerkers/havocs (By taking the CSM heads and blending the front with the Berzerker Helmets), is there any possibility you could post a tutorial and are there any tips/tricks you have to converting the heads of your marines?
It sounds rather straightforward with chopping both kit's heads in half and putting them together but is there anything special you do or is it exactly just that?
Cheers! I'd love to start on my berzerkers and your method is pure excellent and i'd love to replicate it Thanks again
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys, Thindefury the method for making the heads is exactly as you say, any mistakes I fill with gs. The row of skulls I think is from one of the Dark Eldar kits. I forget as I tend to bits buy a lot. As for my method of converting the heads it was actually Wade Pryces method that I adapted for myself. His world eaters are still a massive influence on y work. It's a shame he can't really post on forums anymore due to his job.

Mmmm puuurrrty tanks! I have seen those tracks floating around before and never thought to ask where they come from. Could you enlighten me?
47296
Post by: Biohazard
A user on here Machinator makes them and sells them through his site or EBay. Search for oppressor pattern treads and you'll find them. They come in 3 sizes and having worked with all 3 I have absolutely zero complaints or concerns about them. They're and excellent bit of kit and transform the tanks instantly. I've just bought another rhino for my second squad of Zerkers so will be ordering more very soon
53843
Post by: Ignatius-Grulgor
Gonna have to echo that sentiment I love machinators stuff, though last time I endorsed it on someone else's thread he sent them stuff not me, maybe there'll be a repeat performance if you're lucky
Used oppressor pattern on my land raider too they're just perfect for khornate tanks, where on earth did you get that side detailing on the rhino or did you make that yourself?
47296
Post by: Biohazard
The side detailing is from a guy called Subtle Discord over on Bolterandchainsword. He has a website as well. There's a lot more trim for chaos including a Land Raider kit and an aegis defence line. Again excellent quality kit. Check his stuff out here.

Hey, Biohazard, congrats on your new spawn of Chaos! And everything else in the thread looks fantastic, as usual. I didn't realize Machinator had started selling the Rhino-sized Oppressor treads again. I was under the impression there was a problem with old ones, are these okay? I really hope they're not okay, I don't want to have to retread all my tanks...

Ok so for my Arena Challenge over on B&C Krautscientist asked me to finish my World Eaters Lord, so here's how he looked before.
Now the bolter on his wrist has bugged me for a while and the main reason I added it was mainly for wsywyg. I decided to hell with that today though and tweaked him slightly. I may have been inspired by Grizzly bears awesome take on the Scythes of the Emperor Chapter Master.
Let me know what you think as tomorrow I'll be tidying up the gaps and getting his base reworked for something more fitting of a Berserker Boss.

Ok so an update of sorts. First up is a Tank buster Termi Lord I can use in place of Deimos in bigger games.
An early sneak peek at an Angron conversion based on Rumplemasters. Still a lot of work need on this but happy with how it's going so far. There's also a look at a version of my Jugger Lord on foot. His backpack will be magnetised so he can be run with a JP as well.
Also this happened.
I'm also patiently waiting for a Warden to arrive as well. I've only made a start on the base so far. Nothing fancy but I grabbed a couple of scrap bits, some cork and some sand.
I recently just got a box of Crypt Horrors and another box of bikes for my birthday and I have 10 Warhounds coming that I'll be using as Fleshhounds for my Daemonkin Gorepack.

Post by: Legio Ultra
Nice job on both the models, they look quite good.
But I feel like Angron might need some bulking up, especially because of the new Bloodthirster who might make him look a bit thin.

Awesome work on the Knight (just watch the mould lines on the Juggernaut heads). I have to say that I prefer the mouth open as it helps distinguish the miniature from its loyalist counterparts, and it is also an echo of the Legion's symbol.

Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys, Dreadclaw69, I know what you mean about the head imitating the legion badge it's part of the reason I used the banner I did on the hips as well. But my thinking behind the other helmet is it's similar to the MKII berserker helmets. Like these so I'm toying with the idea of a spiked Mohawk.
Sneshy, thank you very much buddy. Truth be told I wasn't entirely blown away with the FW Chaos Knights I like some elements but I feel these ones are a little underwhelming.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Ok so I decided on a head for the first Knight, obviously needs cleaning up but I'm really happy with it. I'm now on the hunt for a Bloodthirster skull shoulder pad for my second knight so they're similar but not identical. Let me know your thoughts folks
35006
Post by: Medium of Death
The last helmet wins hands down in my mind. I think the first helm needs something to pad out the cheek areas, perhaps bigger vents similar to your dreadnoughts with defiler masks.
I like the second helm but it's a little too plain. It'd be good on a Loyalist knight.

Looks great. Definitely stick with that.
I can totally imagine that head starting to come to life. Growling and gargling against the machine parts that still remain.
Perhaps oil/blood/drool mixture when it is all painted up?
Are those some Hounds of Khorne i see in the background?

47296
Post by: Biohazard
Medium of death thanks buddy. Those are indeed some Hounds in the background I'm going to run Warhounds as Flesh Hounds for my Daemonkin.
Rawson, the head is actually a shoulder pad from Nagash. I just trimmed some of the crest off and split the jaw to fit the Knight head.

That Knight head is awesome! Loooooooooove it!
36940
Post by: Anvildude
Hrm... If you do drool, like suggested, maybe see it you can't use some viscous quick-hardening epoxy? Dab it on, let it pool and drip a little as it hardens- get you a good liquid spittle effect to then paint up.
80580
Post by: Legio Ultra
That knight looks good. But why did you replace the tiger-like skull seen on the chainsword here with the loyalist knight's faceplate? The skull seemed to be a better fit imho
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys, I'm not too sure about adding drool but I'll keep it in mind.
Legio Ultra, the skull and faceplate were just me messing about with some bits to see if I liked anything. I've moved the loyalist faceplate now. Let me know what you think of its new placement.
Here's a couple more angles of the Knight.
35006
Post by: Medium of Death
He's certainly looking the part now.
The conquered Knight faceplate hanging from the back looks a lot better there rather than on the chainblade.
I like the little skeleton detailing on the shin, it's a nice touch.
80580
Post by: Legio Ultra
Aah yes the knght's facplate is looks amazing now perhaps you would consier to add the other loyalist faceplate as well (though it might be a bit ott )
I also really like that adornmet on his left greave, so sinister and ominous. Where is it from?

Post by: em_en_oh_pee

So I do have some painting updates. The first 10 Bloodletters are almost done, will post pics of them when I've done some more cleanup.
In the meantime though I have some other stuff to show you. First up I built my Skarbrand model, I really couldn't help myself. He's a fairly standard build I haven't added the beard plait as I really wasn't into it, he will have his armour plates as well but I've left them off till he's painted.
And I threw together some Warp Talons using parts I got in a trade with Insane Psycopath. I have another 8 of these guys on the sprue so this unit will get bigger at some point.

Nice Lord. That Zombie game looks amazing. Did you have a rule set, I'd love to see it.

47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys, Legio, I used the loincloth from the Bloodsecrator from the AoS box. I cut the Khorne icons and armour plates off. It's there to basically cover the gap I had on the Khorne lords legs. Also from the AoS box. Pretty much everything else on the model is from the Bloodwarriors box.
Bottle, Evildrcheese, the game was great fun. We just used the rules for AoS although we skipped the battles hock tests as the zombies would basically run away. Also we had Heros from the different factions working together. The basic premise of the game was to protect the chapel in the centre of the village. If we held out for 5 turns an artefact was activated so the chapel started emitting a (un)holy light which caused D3 damage to zombies within 6" of the building. The Heros then had to escape out the real hate portals, that's didn't happen due to the fact there was only 3 Heros and the sheer weight of numbers against them. We still managed to protect the chapel but died in the process. We're looking at running a 40k version soon.

Started painting a couple of Juggernaughts for my Bloodcrushers last night. Not finished yet obviously but I'm happy enough so far.
I also added a few more details to Skarbrands base. He'll be getting painted after (if) I finish my vow.
And as if I didn't have enough distractions Grizzly Bear has inspired me to have a go at an Abaddon counts as for my World Eaters. Haven't come up with fluff for him yet but in game he will be the Despoiler. Still VERY early days on the build but here he is for your perusal.
I removed most of the eye iconography to be replaced with WE brass etch and shaved the hair back a bit. Like I say still needs a lot of work but happy so far, I'll be adding a couple of bolt pistols to the claw hand and I plan on re posing the fingers into more of a beckoning pose.
And threw together a quick Jump pack Lord.
Thanks for looking folks.

I've been busy working on a Blood Thirster using the spare legs and weapons from the Skarbrand box. I bits ordered another set of Skars wings and a torso and put him together today. I'll need to GS a crotch for him but when I add the loincloth it should cover the majority of the gaps anyway. The arms have been repositioned slightly and will need a bit of filling as well when I get some more GS.
Now I love the description of the Thirster in the old 2ed codex. Describing a massively armoured brute so to that end I've added a helmet to the head. While I like the idea of it as it gives it a gladiatorial feel the bit I've used is a little too clunky. I have a couple of other ideas but have to gather a couple of bits first. The first pic has Skarbrands chest plate but that won't be used on this guy, I have another Bloodthirster plate in a bits box I need to dig out.
Let me know your thoughts folks.
21254
Post by: lipsdapips
What an absolute menace! I don't think you should change anything about that helmet myself. You're spot on with the gladitorial feel from it, but it also just works perfectly on him in my opinion. Gives a brooding sense of anonymity to him by covering his eyes but leaves his terrifying gob exposed to roar and devour as he pleases But don't let me put you off, whatever ideas you have in mind will probably blow me away just as well. Also the flow of the whip works perfectly with his stride, great build all round mate.

I think some of what you're feeling against the faceplate is because of the edges- namely, that they're so bulky and square. Makes it more clear that the part is meant to be on the torso, rather than sticking up out of the face like that.
It would look wonderful inset into a larger head/face, like if you were doing something Nurgle you could use GS to 'squish' flesh out from the sides, but as this is Khornate...
What I'd suggest is thin that lower jutting lip a tad (on the armour), and bevel the edges of the rest of the mask- that'll make it look more like something meant to go up on the face, and less like a mis-placed chest piece.
47296
Post by: Biohazard
Thanks guys.
Anvil dude, I've already shaved the lower lip off the faceplate (it's from the newest knight Titan kit) I've also added his chest armour and loincloth so it's starting to look a lot better that way. I'm now thinking of how I'm going to build up the base to disguise the stand. I'm thinking a dead chaos marine as if the Bloodthirster has just been summoned.
64018
Post by: Freytag93
I also think the face pate is a great idea. If you can find a way to incorporate it into the model better (as someone said, make it less like a misplaced chest piece), it would give you a very intimidating model.
36940
Post by: Anvildude
Hrm. You gonna do the dead marine as an "Oh no, there's something in side me AAARGHHHhhhhhgbglbgl!" summoning, an exhultant "I have become a DAEMON!" bursting out of his armour/body, or a tied-down, spread-eagled unwilling sacrifice to an unholy ritual?

That Bloodthirster looks awesome as , great job with the pose and the dynamism of the model. That whips just works beautifullt with the dashing pose. One small gripe I have is with the wings since I believe the regular Bloodthirster's wings would work better with such a pose. As for the facemask, have you considered making gs straps attaching it behind the head? Perhaps it will make it more recognizable as a mask
Great work, looking forward to seeing how it goes

Legio, thanks, I built this using the spare legs from the Skarbrand kit. I bits ordered the torso and wings. I couldn't get the stand BT wings for love nor money so had to go with these. They work fine for me though. I don't really see tattered wings being a problem to a greater daemon. I will add a strap to the faceplate at the moment it's all just tacked together till I decide how it will finally look. Updates soon hopefully

I messed around today with an idea for the trophy racks on his back. Including a DA head as I used this guy in a game yesterday and he took out a Company Mastwr and his assault squad in combat. Felt right to have a trophy to mark the occasion. please bear in mind that this whole model is still in early WIP stages.

Not a massive update but hope to get on with painting the rest of the Bloodcrushers this evening. Or at least the Juggernauts.
Just waiting on the washes drying just now.
Ok so I finished the bases, I used a lot more Blood for the blood God than usual but it just felt right :-)
I still have to add casualties to two of the bases ie Jugger Lord and Skarbrand. They'll be painted separately though.

Do I spy an acquired pedestrian crossing cone?
That jugger lord is really well done.
Great use of the Mino Chaplain head.

@Medium of Death ha yes indeed you do. Acquired many years ago on a night out. Don't remember taking, just waking up with it in the living room!? Makes a great lamp.
Thanks for the comment on the Jugger Lord. He still has a lot of work to be done yet though.

That new Juggernaut Lord looks great (as do all of your Juggernaut Lords tbh) As a matter of fact, how many of then do you plan on building?? Great use of both Enkomi's helmet (though being greek means i like the original very much already) and of the trophy racks on his bacpack. Lokking forward to see him (and any other minis) painted.

Thanks buddy. I plan to have at least 3 Jugger Lords, to use between my CSM and KDK armies. I have the original one I made a while back this new one with Fist/Claw and I'll make another with an Axe and not sure how else to arm him.
The Bloodcrusher riders have been worked on but not finished yet. Will get back to them very soon. Really needed a break from painting red today though.
Took the chance to work on the dead terminator on Skarbrands base. I've thought of starting a Lamenters force for a while. I love the Blood Angels fluff but wasn't keen on another red army so these guys fit the bill perfectly. Only problem is the chapter badge. So used the dead guy as a test model. Had far too much fun painting him.

Nice JuggaLord. Really like the pose and how he looks like he might jump off at something.
The bases are looking great too.

Thanks buddy. I'll be working on the Jugger Lord again ASAP.
Finally got time to finish the Bloodcrushers, not my greatest work but happy with how they look as a unit.
That's 2 out of my 8 vows complete. May need to extract a digit and get a move on.

Forgot to put a pic of the actual chapter badge when I posted the last update of Skarbrands base so here it is.
Also painted a Herald on Jugger using the herald from the Skull Cannon box.
With the rest of the Bloodcrushers.
Also started painting the Lords Jugger and reworked his armour a little. He's closer to paint now. Need to add his reins and finish painting the Jugger.

Man those Bloodcrushers look great, as does that base... I feel kind of bad for that termie over there. And as always you continue to impress with your Juggernaut Lord. Very menacing. Well done

Nice to see some of your work again, it's been such a long time!! And it's even nicer to see you haven't lost your edge after suxh a long absence . Very well made build on both the juggernaut, terminator and jump pack lords. And very nice paint job on him and the aemon herald as well

Thanks as always buddy. It has been too long.
I have another WIP that was very much inspired by Krautscuentists Angron build. I saw what he was doing and decided to blatantly steal the idea and add my own spin on things so I came up with a more armoured version of the Lord of the Red Sands. Bear in mind these pics were taken very early in the conversion. I need to dig him out and work on him some more and update with better pics.
Plans for this guy,
Swap out the axe of Khorne for a cataphractii chain axe ( this has been done like I say I really need to get better pics)
Add leather straps to his shoulders similar to the FW model.
Generally tidy and clean up the conversion. Make sure the brass etch is straight etc etc
Come up with a suitable base, he's crying out for a fallen foe at his feet. I plan on having him on a 60mm base with a removable 40mm base for gaming (not that he's likely to see much tabletop action. His daemonic incarnation though...hmmmm maybe I have something else to show)

"Borrowing" ideas at it's finest.. But since the idea is good, that should be ok right? Just kidding though, very nice conversion, it already seems nice and quite clean, despite its early wip stage. Though he might seem somewhat small for a Primarch, given you don't have the unarmored excuse for the lack of bulk. Also, needs more skulls ... As a matter of fact have you considered adding the chain cloak from the WFB Chaos Lord on Manticore?? Having recently read 'False Gods" from the HH novels, and it describes "A glinting mesh cape of chain mail hung from his high gorget and pauldrons, with skulls worked into its weave like barbaric trophies.". I'd love to see that happen
Appart from that rambling, great mini, very nicely made and imposing.

Another long break between updates. I really need to remember about this log and stop neglecting it.
I have a couple of small paint updates.
First up is a small force Id painted for a double tournament in June. It was 800pts a player, my partner took a Tau army and I used my KDK.
My list pretty much all died by turn 3. Meh.
Finally got around to painting my Skarbrand model. I magnetised his left arm to hold a whip and used him as Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury.
Don't have any proper pics of him close up. I will get some soon hopefully.
Also started painting a Landraider and Rhino finally. These have been base coated for years.
Again, these are further along than the pics show but I don't have any new ones yet.
All of my models and tools have been packed away as I'm moving house in a week or so. It's frustrating though as I had just started to build another project that I'm itching to work on. See below ;-)
Legio Ultra, I did as Kraut before I borrowed this idea it's all good. As for this update. I'd had this guy planned for a while but again it took Kraut to push me to finally do some work on him.
Here's the early WIP of my Daemonic Angron. I'm basing him on the old Epic model. I always love the classic devil look that model had. Here's a look to show those who don't know or remember him. This isn't my model but it's decent version of him.
So here's what I have so far.
He'll possibly be holding a dead/dying Grey Knight terminator in his left hand.
Here's what I have for his Black Blade so far as well. This is the bit I'm really wanting to work on. All the Inq symbols will be removed obviously but I thought there was a delicious irony in using a Grey Knight blade.
I want to extend the hilt of the sword so ignore the Khorne symbol for now. Again though it's all packed away but I just want to work on it.
I have another project I'll be working on soon as well in relation to the Call of Chaos over on the Bolter and Chainsword. It will be a Slaanesh Chaos marines force. Only have a couple of pieces built, I've made a couple of custom Blastmasters and started to work on a Sonic Dread conversion as well. Again still very early WIP but I hope to have 2 squads of Noise Marines, 2 Sonic Dreads and a Lord on either a bike or steed. I have some daemonettes to run alongside them as well. Like I say I'll have all these built by the time the Call starts.
As always let know what you folks think.

Haha brilliant. Hopefully it won't be too long till I have more to show. I'm keen to work on the Dread a bit more and refine what I've done with the Noise marines as well. These were built with limited access to my bits box so I'll have a few more details to add to them asap.

So no more work to show on my Slaanesh guys yet. Had a bit of a nightmare house move but starting to get settled now. I've been messing about with a couple of bits and pieces over the past week when I've had time. I've very nearly finished another build of my Lord Malek Deimos. His first complete version (actually probably about his 5th build) I felt like I kind of rushed the paint and I was never convinced he was brutal or imposing enough.
Here's is his "first" build
So I rebuilt him slightly. I felt this was a bit more brutal looking now, I also took the opportunity to magnetise his arms so I could switch his load out.
Still though I wasn't satisfied so I managed to acquire a set of Finecast Obliterators via FB and set about butchering the legs of one of them. I also picked up some of the Terror Squads helmets from FW. For Maleks head/mask I took one of the NL heads, snipped the top off it and used my dremel to hollow out the inside of the helmet. I then took the librarians head from the Deathwatch Overkill box and slotted it into the hollow of the helmet. I had to trim a bit from the bottom of the head and it still needs a bit of gs but here's where it's at just now.
And here's a couple of scale pics.
I picked up my copy of Traitors Hate and I'm loving the fluff and a few of the formations will let me field my World Eaters again. Especially the Terminator Annihilation force and Raptor Talon. I also got myself the Bloody Eighth as well.
I used to have the old metal Kharn but cannot find him for the life of me so I picked up the old version in Finecast as well before he goes OOP.
Over on the B&C the Call of Chaos starts tomorrow so I should have more updates very soon.

I feel like Kharne HAS to smash the blood angels - he's KHARNE! This crusade should be the one that works. Appreciate the comparison photo, the new model is a beast next to the classic mini.

Your new Malek is great, very nice use of the NL terror squad's helmets there.
And the new Khârn looks good as well, thanks for the comparison pics next to the old one.
