I went through a period in college where all I watched were Kung Fu movies. A lot of cheap DVDs at the beginning of the DVD explosion out of HK meant I could catch up on a lot of years of HK film very quickly.

Game has been hard as hell on us too. I have yet to win a single round of it.

Not sure how I managed to get Dakka work blocked. I think due to it being "games" related, and the firewall now blocks anything game related. Also hotmail and gmail, which is quite annoying.

But not the Kingdom Death main website. Not that I need to be going to it during school, but I found that really odd...

Well Go Entertainment for the win!

Yeah- firewalls are weird. It's amazing sometimes what gets blocked and scary-amazing what gets through!

What the hell is wrong with me? What am I doing?

OMG did I just paint Space Wolves? Why? What happened?

TWIST- I actually enjoyed it even...

I had the KT box taking up too much space in the closet, so it only seemed appropriate to actually paint them. The shipping containers? We'll see.

I was going to attempt to paint up a Dark Imperium set of Primaris for a gift for my cousin, so I gotta clear up as much space as possible and get in the practice of painting marines again.

Those guys are going to be Ultras though so they'll be pretty easy. Hopefully...

Also painted up this random Minotaur from Bones the other day. Deep down I know Bones 4 is probably not that far off now, I probably should get back to work on stuff from the first three campaigns then...

I particularly like his armor. I think it turned out nice too. I went back and touched up a lot of the turquoise after this photo as well. He's a bit more human sized so he'll make a good player choice the next skirmish game we get started up with.

The Space Wolves look pretty good, although I'm confused by the Union Jacks on their knees. Is the one in the second picture helmetless up top or does he have a weathered skull on his head?
The Minotaur is my favorite mini from this batch. His armor really pops.

Ha- it does look kinda like a Union Jack, doesn't it? It was supposed to be claw marks on a red background... now I can't unsee it.

I like that minotaur too. Was working on (read: getting pissed off at) some Thousand Sons Exalted Sorcerers at the same time, and the cow was just a heck of a lot easier to work on.

Now to start in on my Zealot taurs and other Bones ones... I think they're all going to end up matching my Fomorian stuff from Darklands.

I looked at those oxen for my upcoming project, great to see them painted up. Minotaur looks awesome as well.

Those oxen are quite utilitarian and have seen action in quite a few games now.

I'd like some actual to scale Bones cows though.

School wraps up for winter break, which means I can finally get some painting time in.

I've had some of these guys sitting in front of me for well over a month. No longer!

First up is this Khador Man-O-War Standard Bearer. He came with a fancy pants Kommander with a big hat and lots of filigree encrusted armor who I have not gotten to painting yet.
He matches up pretty well with my other Man-O-Wars that I don't know what I'm doing with. Most of my Khador warcasters and solos have been sold off.

Perhaps I should grab a Man-O-War Sorscha in case I ever feel the need to play Warmahordes... or just to paint.

Next up are a variety of Raging Heroes ladies, who I don't know what are actually called.

I believe she's a pilgrim of some sort. I liked this sculpt.

This lady looks a lot more armored than the other figures. She also broke ranks and wore blue instead of red like all the other zealots.

Here's my Matron or whatever they're called. I thought of painting her up like a Custodes at first (she's just as big as one and is on a 40mm base). In the end I went with an eclectic mix of metallics.
I'm happy with her war scroll. I need to do more work on the golden stuff and finish her base.

A random Hadross Pit Fighter from Wrath of Kings. Once more this line of models from CMON makes me scratch my head. Some boxes have 10 models with 2 or 3 repeated sculpts, or 2 of the same larger kits, but nope, this box is 10 unique models. Why? What makes them so much more special than all the other factions? I dont' get the logic.

I believe this guy is the unit leader. I may be wrong as I don't have access to the cards or the second book at the moment. The details on his armor were super soft, but his skin and scales were very well defined. Weird.

Here's the Beast from Rum & Bones, actually finishing off the box that came with Belle, the Sparda brothers, and the Bloodborne Hunter copycat. He's kinda hunched over but is actually quite large compared to the other guys, and his base is probably closer to a 40mm one in diameter. Belle's base was just as large, oddly enough. I think it's due to their role as crew members for Rum & Bones.

Then there's these guys. They have frustrated me for the last two weeks or so after I finally sucked it up to paint them. The irony is I sold all my Tzeentch stuff, so I'm not sure what to do with these guys. I still have an unpainted Ahriman, maybe they can all be Age of Sigmar sorcerers for now. It's not like they're carrying overtly scifi weaponry. I'm not counting the five- armed guy as having a regular bolt pistol as it looks like it's getting powered by magic....

I need to fix up the trim on their cloaks, and finish their bases as well, but I'm happy their pretty much done.

Funny thing is, now that they're just about done, I kind of want some more. There were quite a few optional bits in the kit, and with some other rubrics I may be able to come up with something interesting...

Probably going to do more work on all their staves as well.

You aren't the first person to ask that same question either!

I know he's supposed to be resting his sword on the ground, but I'm guessing to keep the mold simple, the blade and his foot are totally fused together.

My wife had suggested leaving a red ring around the edge of the blade where the foot touches...

So it's been a while.

BUT I PAINTED.

Did you?

I painted a lot of stuff over the last two weeks. A LOT. So much so I already packed some of it away in the closet and most likely won't remember it for weeks or months. It might be on my youtube videos. Not even sure.

I painted the entire Dark Imperium box. I gave my cousin the marines. I painted them as Ultramarines. Then I lost the flight stands for the Inceptors. Debating how to complete them.

My cousin forgot to take him home. He is proof of my work. I think I put the wrong size decal on his flag. I hate decals...

Despite getting tons and tons and TONS of GW stuff over the last few months, he's the only other GW model I painted. He may have come with Assassinorum: Exectuion Force. Possibly. Probably....

I started trying to cut down on my Mantic partially painted models. Here's some Nightmares finally done, that were started when Infestation was delivered.

And a more recent model, a Nightstalker Butcher, from the Vanguard campaign. I have a few more of his friends started. I will try to finish them.

Some Malifaux monster hunters. I like the guy on the left a lot. Too bad he's not in the box, and featured in the artwork! Nope, instead, I had this guy included with the lady-

Who the is he? I contacted Wyrd, they sent out the guy in the art. No idea who badly is. Don't like his elongated gorilla arms.

I'm really fond of this model from Legendarion. He's big too. At least on a 50mm base. Maybe a 60mm. Can't remember.

I hate his sword though. It's warped and paper thin. It won't bend back despite repeated attempts. I am going to dig through my SD Gundam parts and see if I can find a sword blade of comparable size to replace it with.

Besides all that, I painted quite a few Wrath of Kings models. I really did a lot looking at them all like this. I'll just put their photos up here.

-this picture was taken before I finished him. I can't find where I put him now either...

Flying pig hero

Big huge Goritsi Shieldbreaker on his 50mm base

Duke Anton before he moonlighted as an Abomination in Zombicide

Molotok the Iron Juggernaut, with his elongated nipple clamps...

One of two of the Sarvoth Shadow- Veils. Can't find the cooler looking one now...

Za'Ren for the Shael Han...

Lineman Boris and his half dozen swords...

Plus a plastic Kingdom Death Forge Priest just for good measure!

Phew! That's not even everything...

For 2019 my hope is to finally paint Archaon and some of the other BIG models I keep putting off!

Ultramarine looks good, though a larger symbol would have been better maybe RG decided he didn’t need to overcompensate .

Love the kitsune, and the sheer-khan guy from WoK. Both look fantastic. That range has some real winners, too bad it’s a small dead as can be. Seriously it’s like CMoN just figures it would be too much trouble to even bother to say they are binning the game .

The Wyrd stuff has grabbed my attention, but it’s a little too pricey for what I get. Though the FLGS near me has a bunch on clearance as they have dumped the whole line, just no one playing it.

I'm seeing a general theme of beastmen and demi-humans in this batch. Like I said on Saturday, these are looking good.

What kind of wash are you using on your humans' skin? It looks like some of them, like the Forge Priest the wash is still coming out glossy.

Same wash as always. I don't think it's a gloss agrax...

There was definitely a bit of animal people taking painting priority these past few days.

The rate I'm going through these Wrath of Kings guys, we ought to sit down and try playing it again. Would probably help if I painted some infantry for one of the factions rather than all the hero models.

Once I'm done with the current batch it's time to head back to samurai and fallout for a bit...

Highlording it up with Highlord Tamburlaine. 7/27 Creature Caster monsters! @ 2019/01/18 16:29:22

Post by: highlord tamburlaine

So like I said last time, samurai and fallout were up on the plate.

I'm really lagging on photographing stuff. Trying to make videos for Youtube, which has been kind of interesting, is taking up way more time than I ever expected.

So here's some stuff that I painted lately. There's more, but in an attempt to keep the house relatively clean, I already put a bunch of it away.

Here's a Clan War samurai and two of the Koryu Buntai from North Star for the Ronin skirmish game. The dude with the Nodachi is obviously inspired by Mifune Toshiro in the Seven Samurai. Not sure about barefoot closed- eyes guy. Maybe the seven samurai as well? Been a while since I watched it. Part of me wanted to paint him up like someone from Rurouni Kenshin...

I should have the rest of the Buntai started soon.

Here's some of the Frontline Knights from the Brotherhood of Steel for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. They come from the Brotherhood Starter and booster. Colors look really washed out due to my poor lighting. I'm not happy with the bases- they have what look like scan lines from a 3d printer all over them. They're serviceable at least. I'm trying to do the recruits and the two female knights as well.

Both of my T60 power armors are basically done. Outside of a metallic coat I'm not really sure what to do with them though. At least their bases are nicely done. We'll see them next time I update this.

Did you all ask for more Wrath of Kings? Because I can't seem to stop painting them now for some reason.

More Goritsi wolves. The female one's fur is very disappointing after I sprayed her with the matte sealer. I may need to redo it, but I can't remember what color I used originally!

Another Teknes hero. I don't get those vent things on his back. There's no openings for them!

More Teknes. These two pigs are on 40mm bases and are some sort of veteran unit that I can't be arsed to go look the names up to. They're in the second book, I know that. I like the caped guy.

Getting started on some of my Eden figures. These guys are Resistance. I believe they're Pilots is what the box said. They look like ex prisoners. I like the mace lady. They aren't Mohan level of paint jobs but they're serviceable.

Last up for the moment is a Deep Cuts figure from Wiz Kids. I know some of Dakka really seem to like these figures. They're alright. Sometimes it's hard to discern their details. He does have a helmet on under that animal skin. I'm not sure if he has a beard spilling over his arm or not, but that's how I painted it because that's what it looked like. It could just be a bunch of flash for all I know.

One thing I don't like are those tiny discs that Wiz Kids likes to call bases. They're way too small! I ended up gluing this guy to one of the Reaper bases that came with one of (all of?) their Kickstarters.

So that's what I've been up to. Next post should be more Fallout, samurai, wild animals, and ... Blackstone Fortress?

Nice work highlord .

I’m interested in what you pop up on YouTube, if you have links please post them as I have been watching more.

I like the wizkids deep cuts terrain pieces and animals, though the grizzly seems small to me. They serve their purpose of being cheap and “good enough” yet still better in my eyes than the bones models.

Have you checked out Warbanner.com? Looks like the driving force guys behind Test of Honour have taken the game from Warlordgames and struck out on their own with a second edition coming out. They have the models from footsore games and a good sculptor (looks like the guy who did all the metals for Warlordgames Test of Honour. Reasonably priced and they are not changing the rules too much, more just streamlining them.

The youtube link is in my signature down there.

Also here for convenience's sake-

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmCB2mWIxhYF8Q36d2Am_2A

I agree the bear seems a bit small, but after comparing it to a Bones one, it's not that significant of difference. I think there's another one coming in Bones 4, so hopefully that'll be more impressive.

I saw your post about Warbanner and them taking over Test of Honour. That's good news. Game system is cool. I'll have to take a look at the models.

My spidey- sense keeps telling me someone is missing out on having a real good plastic samurai kit, as I feel like as a genre the Sengoku era stuff is going to be this year's Cthulhu/ Zombies/ new hotness.

I've been trying to build through my Warlord/ WGF samurai backlog and with every figure I build, I distinctly recall how much I'm not a fan of their hands and weapons.

A good heroic sized skirmish based plastic kit could sell gangbusters if someone wants to take a stab at it, in my humble opinion...

You're a painting machine there, good to see those Wrath of Kings minis with some colour on,

I've got to get round to working on my flying pigs box but I can't remember what I was going to convert them into. I had a great plan when I ordered them but poof! it's vanished

I'm curious how you're going to convert them too!

My photos keep coming out too bright. Ugh.

Started in on my Delaque box. Got a few done. I feel like they need a bit more work- just not sure what or where! At least they look like they're acceptable for a tabletop game. Hopefully I can finish off the box and we can consider actually playing a game of Necromunda.

Trying to get a few more Deep Cuts animals done for this weekend. Hopefully we can squeeze in a game of Paleo Diet. Also finally snatched up a Kenshiro figure for Eden, because he's only the most appropriate figure for a post apocalyptic game. I'm going to try and get him primed and started this weekend.

Currently trying to build my way through a rather big pile of Test of Honour stuff. Hope to be able to show those soon!

Post by: highlord tamburlaine

I'll have to get on top of those size comparisons. Been busy with Youtube junk and working on grades.

I figure I'll post some things I haven't posted elsewhere yet.

This is the Lord of Sorrows from Creature Caster. At first I thought it would be a great Tyranid Hive Tyrant, but upon closer inspection it makes an even better Nurgle Daemon.

My red capes. Dude on the left is a Warwind from Dark Age. I wanted to get him done before I work on the newer resculpt. Dude on the right was part of Parker Barrows' crew for Malifaux.

Some more Dark Age figures. Need to find the big guy's son. Forget which one is Phadras and which is Maximo. I think Phadras is the dad. Guy in the background is most likely a Skarrd figure, but I'm not sure what. I think he's a Golab, which are there mute sword masters, but I thought the Golabs were larger.

Some Wrath of Kings figures in various stages of completion. Center guy who's most finished is a Paragon of Wrath, who are ogre dudes with all sorts of prosthetic limbs. Mine are red naturally, because all my ogres and oni are red.
Big guy is a Hate Forged Titan for the Teknes faction. I think I've seen maybe one other painted one on Facebook. Once I get his base done I'll post him up by himself. Panda in the back came from the Celestial Host which was a big boxed unit set for the Shael Han faction.

The alternate sculpt models of the Viktorias for Malifaux. I'm pretty pleased with myself- they were supposed to be completely different models, but Wyrd decided to stick two of the same sister in the blister with the hands for the other model. So I did a bit of converting and managed to get two sisters still out of their goof.

I really want to see new sculpts of the Viktorias when 3rd edition hits!

Lucky me, had the day off from work in observance of Lincoln's birthday.

Unlucky me, students gave me a nice and congested head cold as a parting gift prior to Valentine's Day. Thanks guys!

Surprisingly got a bunch finished up this week.

Finished up the bulk of this Resistance starter for Eden. Time to probably start up another so we can figure out how to play.

Two of the new Tharn models for Hordes. The left one has a twin brother who's all hulked out and getting painted currently.

An Oathsworn Kingfisher who was a lot of fun to paint, hanging out with a Shael Han Dragon Legionnaire from Wrath of Kings. The bird has all his adventuring gear on his back.

The resin Werewolf Pack Master or Shadows of Brimstone. He's with a resin alt samurai model for the same game. I should've included a plastic werewolf for scale reference. Next time...

Eden's "Ken" the superman hanging with not- Raziel from Dark Age. Sadly it looks like his eyeliner is running. Watered the paint down a bit too much...

Fist Godsworn Hunt barbarian done for Warhammer Underworlds. Nice and simple, with NO CHAOS ICONOGRAPHY ANYWHERE!

A bunch of Shael Han guys from Wrath of Kings. Why do I keep painting them? I like Nasier the most!

Another Wrath of Kings figure, this time from the Hadross underwater faction. He's big, sitting on a 40mm base.

This guy's even bigger, another Wrath of Kings figure. It's a Hate Forged Titan from the Teknes faction. He's on an 80mm base. I think this is the first one I've seen painted on google, outside of the box artwork. I saw one once on Facebook in a Kings of War army.

A random Rising Sun figure that got painted up. Really happy with him in person. No idea what prompted me to paint him right now. Shadows of Brimstone Forbidden Fortress perhaps...

Two more Northstar samurai for their Ronin game. Who's that mysterious stranger watching in the background...?

Spoiler:

Hint. He just came out this week. I painted him in a single evening.

Time to get back to work now!

You hunt around, you can find the Wrath of Kings stuff pretty cheap these days.

I keep picking bits up for the game and I've paid nowhere close to what I should have, especially online. Patience is the key though.

I painted up even more WoK stuff but forgot to photograph it. Been busy getting grades ready for report cards, resulting in not a whole lot getting painted.

Started up a bunch of stuff as is usually the case, but work does need to come first... once in a while.

That's Vachel Goldenhand from Lucid Eye Publication's "Red Book of the Elf King" line. Very Conan- esque to me. Maybe it's the helmet. Gives off an Atlantean, early civilization vibe. He does in fact have a golden hand as well.

A weasel brigand from Oathsworn's Burrows & Badgers line. Pic came out kinda dark. I think I need to fix up that bottle hanging around his waist.

The daimyo for Rising Sun's Koi Clan. Her fan does in fact read "Koi." I don't know why. I doubt she'd forget.

I feel like I should go back and put some details on her robes. Or at least some of them. There's so many layers to her...

A Dragonfly Clan warrior and daimyo. I'm quite fond of the daimyo, but feel his top robe needs some extra pizzazz on it. I like how the whole clan wear masks.

Should have some larger figures finished up later this week or next. Almost done with some of my Minotaurs from Zealot's kickstarter!

All the figures are very nicely done, but I'm particularly struck by Vachel Goldenhand and the Daimyo for the Rising Sun Clan- excellent work! With Vachel, I think it is the good use of washes to bring out the detail and with the daimyo, the overall effect and especially the detail work on the fan. Are the characters for 'koi' freehand, a transfer or actually molded into the fan?

Great stuff!

It's actually freehand on the fan, and I was reprimanded by everyone in my family for my sloppy kanji linework. On the other hand they all could easily read it and knew what I was trying to put, so kudos to me as that's one of the random kanji I can still remember. Not even sure why...

I keep looking at Vachel and wanting to go back over the armor parts with a darker was actually, but I'm glad that I'm at least on the right track with how it should look!

Kinda regretting not backing it too. On the other hand, I don't mind painting one of each versus the entire clans. The Godzilla monster is hitting close to 100 these days and pricing me out of buying one.

Nice thing is they're mostly on 25mm bases which means I can't pop them in the Test of Honour multibases.

FINALLY seemed to have gotten these guys done. I started them ages ago, couldn't figure out what or where to start with, and slowly but surely gotten them to at least an acceptable tabletop level.

First up is my personal favorite of the bunch, the Daimyo for Rising Sun's Turtle Clan. The turtle clan all seem to be mutant Oni types. This guy looks a bit more Mongol like in design than his more samurai brethren.

One of the warrior bushi types.

As well as their Shinto priestly dude.

The other warrior sculpt I misplaced but found the other day, so we'll get him started up soon enough.

Also got a few works in progress I figured I'd photograph.

The barbarian dude from Massive Darkness. I like his simplicity. He's just a barbarian dude with an axe. No frills or fancy stuff.

One of the Zealot Miniatures' Minotaurs from a somewhat recent Kickstarter. He's on a 50mm base I believe. Can't recall his name. Brute, perhaps?

A companion of the previous Minotaur. This is the Siege Breaker who needs quite a bit more work done. He's just a cool sculpt and feel quite chunky. I like him.

A deep cuts T Rex, painted in the style of a certain Digimon. Technically I should have painted the lower jaw orange like the rest of the body, but the garishness reminds me of dino toys from my childhood so I'm happy with it as- is.
Frustrating thing is the colors have blended together to much in the photo as there's a few different oranges in blues in use there. Ah well. At least he'll be out of the way finally.

I think next up besides finishing a collection of half- finished Wrath of Kings and assorted samurai models, I should do another Creature Caster model. I could do the big fat Nurgle-esque guy, the big Khorne type guy, or really punish myself and do the giant Lady with over- elaborate armor. Leaning towards Nurgle at the moment...

Preemptive apologies for late night photos. Need some feedback on this one.

Been working on the Valentine's Day Twilight Knight. She's not done yet. Not satisfied with the apron. It's kind of a leathery beige color currently.

Should I go all in with a leather apron, or start using some of those super light gray colors and white it up? Input appreciated.

Making progress with the Fighter from the Echoes of Death box for Kingdom Death. Fighter is still one of my favorites despite being not as fantastic in plastic compared to the resin version.

The Shinto Priest for the Moon Clan from Rising Sun. I've never seen one painted. The colors look like they all blend together in photo. Eh. I like her. Don't like her widow's peak though. Nothing about her outfit makes me think Korean fantasy in the least. Plus her throwing knife things look weird.

Easiest most cheating way to do the eyes- paint the whole area black, and then just put the little white dots in. Viola!

Thicken the area up if you want that inky eyeliner Kingdom Death look!

Yeah, you read it right.

The priestly units are all "Shinto" units. Then again, the game is in Japan and is supposed to be fought with Japanese inspired forces.

This lady came from the "Dynasty Invasion" box which had a Korean style clan as well as a Chinese one. The Chinese units all look like guys from Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

It's pretty cool actually, if kind of a pain to track down the figures for individually. I never got any of the Chinese ones.

Another Rising Sun figure I'm almost done with. Picture didn't come out as good as I'd hoped when I took it.

This guy is a Bonsai Clan warrior. He needs a lot of touch up on his hammer and the red cords all over his armor. Otherwise I'm somewhat content with him for now.

I've really been enjoying painting these guys. My HATE pledge just showed up, so I'm sure that's going to suck up some of my time.

Most of my time has been spent fiddling around with models from The Other Side. If you've watched any of the Youtube videos I've put up, I've been working my way through a bunch of boxes of it to give people a better idea of what they're like.

I was put off by how plasticy they looked, so I decided to start sticking paint on them.

Guy on the left is an ECB Black Ops chap, middle guy is a swanky plastic Malfiaux kit (Parker Barrows from the Fistful of Scrip crew box) and the right hand guy is a South Wales Borderer. The two guys from The Other Side were chosen because of how shiny and detail lacking they seemed. So far they've been just given quick base coats without even a priming and the paint seems to hold quite nicely.

Here's the same Black Ops guy with some Abyssinia models from the Steel Legion set. Photos didn't come out as sharp as I would've liked. I'm going to give everything a wash and start highlighting this weekend.

The detail is there though. Now if Wyrd would just do something about the price so the game isn't DOA...

Been a while since I put any photos on Dakka. Youtube takes a lot of time.

Painted quite a bit of stuff in the last three weeks. I'm sure I forgot to post some here.

Here's my Hammer Brothers. I posted the Rising Sun figure before, but he's finished now and so's his Blood Rage buddy from the Bear Clan. I did him as the Shadows of Brimstone campaign wrapped up. Seemed fitting to paint a viking while that was going on.

Speaking of Shadows of Brimstone, here's the Legendary enemy the Red Ronin with his two swords, hanging out with Nakano Gozen from Wild West Exodus. She's been touched up since I took this photo. While I'm not entirely impressed with her, more due to her overall design than the quality or anything, I really like the Red Ronin figure. I might go back and do some more work on his armor's details. Not decided yet. He looks passable at the moment at least.

Here's some more board game adventurers! The Astropath and the Kroot from Blackstone Fortress. I really enjoyed the Kroot. He's got a lot of interesting little details going on with his design. Plus he actually has more clothes than most Kroot, along with a few bionic replacement bits which is interesting. For push fit figures they're both pretty nice.

Another human and alien pairing, this time it's John Carter and Tars Tarkas from Modiphius' new line of resins that go along with their RPG. I felt Tars Tarkas was kinda flat, especially compared to the Thark warband they made who are in much more dynamic poses, but he's still a nice model. Both figures have lots of fun little details to paint. Dejah Thoris is slowly coming along as well...

Some mechanized infantry from the Abyssinia allegiance for Wyrd's new mass combat game The Other Side. They're basically steampunk Wakandans. I actually wish they'd do some sort of Black Panther style independent hero to go with them.
I feel their pants looks too close to their skin tone. Should I lighten the pants or darken them? Otherwise I thought they're quite decent.

Speakign of Wyrd, here's two of the Iron Zombies from the University of Transmortis box set. I guess it's been out of print for a while. I've owned three of them, and not a single one has ever been complete despite their owners saying it was. One was missing the book, one had no bases, this current one I'm painting has no cards. Ah well. With third edition around the corner it isn't a huge loss. Neat models though.

Here's all three ladies from the Mazu's Dreadful Curse hero expansion for CMON's Rum & Bones game. Did I post any of them before? I can't remember. Particularly happy with how the middle one turned out. The others aren't bad, the middle is just better.

...and then there's the prettiest most angstiest JRPG hero that ever graced a videogame console for some time. Cloud! I'm not sure what outfit this is based on. Advent Children maybe/

If you managed to stick around this long, there's plenty more coming where these came from!

Cloud came from Spain. I'll have to dig him back out as I put him away while I Kondo' ed my shelves. I know I have a video of him on Youtube showing how tall he is if you can't wait for me to hunt him down.

He came from Spain. I have my suspicions who produced him. He was purchased on eBay though.

I was about to sell this guy and a host of other half- finished Khorne models off on eBay, when I suddenly had the urge to finish him.
Mind you, this guy as of last Friday was still on a square base as he was purchased before Age of Sigmar had even started! I finished him up and am in the rpocess of wrapping up the last two remaining Wrathmongers.

They're still one of my favorite Khorne kits. So many versatile bits in that box, and then doubled because of the whole dual model build available!

A Raven Warrior from Blood Rage. Didn't realize those aren't the proper clan colors. Whoops. Not a big deal.

Two up and coming figures- another guy from The Other Side along with one of the Greater Possessed from Shadowspear. He's going to get a lot of those highlights seriously cleaned up, as he's obviously not done yet. I like where he's headed though!

Haven't gotten around to photographing much as I've been in the process of shuffling filming stuff to a quieter part of the house. Sadly it isn't as well lit as the other parts, but it's getting there.

Got two more Wrathmongers done. Oddly enough I seem to be missing two models. I'm guessing they ended up as Skull Reapers? I know I have a lot of finished Skull Reapers.

These two were also from when the box first released and they included square bases. The guy with the horned skull helm proved particularly difficult in coming off of his original base. He just didn't want to budge! I finally ended up carving chunks of base off around him and eventually sawing away what was left of his original base. It was a frustrating mess!

Funny enough, I want to buy another box of these guys. I just cobbled together another five man unit based on all the remaining bits I had too!

I really should pick up some Skullcrusher bits for modding these guys even further. Maybe some Chaos Marines while I'm at it. None of these Khorne guys have repeats yet and I'd like to keep it that way!

Also got this model pretty much finished. This is the White Speaker from the Kingdom Death sub- line of "Death High." Spending a significant amount of time in Japan over the years has given me a soft spot for the school uniforms. I'm not super satisfied with the face though. I'll mull over what I can do with it. The rest is decent. I'm not looking to win any awards here.

This model is interesting in it's what Poots called "photoresin." It's basically resin that's gone through the 3d printing process if I understood everything correctly when they first unveiled these. The detail is pretty crisp and doesn't seem to have the scan lines you see on quick and dirty printing projects. There were a few nubs that needed to be cut off but other than that it didn't need a lot of cleanup.

The material seem to hold together fairly well also. It doesn't feel as brittle as resin can and I never felt worried something would snap off if I looked at it wrong. My daughter accidentally swatted her off the table and sent her flying across the room, and even then it was a pretty clean break on the sword arm- looking at it closely you can't really even tell where it broke!

I had to pin her to the base though. It was the only way she would stay on it.

Got a bunch of Bloodletters finished this weekend, and started in on these dudes a bit more earnestly.

Blackstone Chaos Lord is coming along decently. Need to do a better job highlighting- you literally can't see it after I started washing him with the Agrax!
I used the same turquoise on him that I did the Blackstone Chaos Marines and the results were absolutely abysmal.

Time to find a better highlighting choice...

Skulltaker is a model I'm quite happy to spend time working on. I've got his based pretty much finished- did all the lava and rocks, now it's time to work on his armor. I put the base colors so now it's time to make it look decent. Still need to touch up all the chords on his cloak that tie the skulls on it.

I also started working for reals this time on the GSC neophytes. Hopefully I can get a chunk of them done soon. Now to hopefully make them look different enough from the Orlock guys I just started getting around to painting...

Took a step away from my 40k kick to finish up some steampunk stuff.

Front guy who looks like Sam Elliot is one of the newer Shadows of Brimstone sculpts. He's a resin replacement for one of the special allies, but he actually makes a good stand- in for a lot of the lawmen models. He was a single piece as well and pretty nicely cast, especially compared to their early resin results. Grandma with the blowtorch and the portly scholar with interesting device on his arm are both The Other Side models. The rapscallion hanging out in the back is an older Malifaux plastic model.

Back to 40k though!

Janus Draik from the Blackstone Fortress game is just about done. I need to do some highlights on his boots and shoelaces. Otherwise I'm calling him as good enough to play. I believe that's 4 painted heroes now, which is enough to actually get started playing then!

Time to get back to the bad guys...

Speaking of bad guys, I went ahead and got the Kelermorph just about finished. I painted him while I was painting the neophytes from the Kill Team box along with a few hybrids so they all should match cohesively as a team. The rest of them should be finished this upcoming week.

Those leg guards make me think of cricket gear every time I see him.

I feel like I should get some jackals and a goliath for them to roll around in now...

Also got Obsidius in the back there done along with this other Greater Possessed. I need to clean up some of the lines on him though.

Next on the finishing list is Dejah Thoris and the rest of the stealer cult!

The bulk of my Neophytes from the Kill Team box are getting wrapped up.

For whatever reason a large portion of them seem to want to play with shotguns.

Finally decided on a simple enough pattern to get them painted.

Guys with fancier, more exotic weaponry.

Some work in progress shots of the heavy support guys.

I have my hybrids coming along soon and I hope to start the abomination mutants as well. I'm worried that before I know it I'll have jackals and goliaths running along side them...

That blue is the carapace armor. The bigger guys are have more pronounced mutations and extra limbs. My hybrid metamorphs I'm working on make it more obvious, to the point that I've often confused myself as to which kit they all came from.

I forget how stealer hybrid generations work. Is it the earlier the gen, the more primitive they are, until by the 4th or 5th gen they're basically able to pass for human?

Nice neophytes. I especially like the yellow shotgun, for some reason.

It goes;

Purestrain -> superfreaky acolyte hybrids -> freaky acolyte hybrids -> slightly freaky neophyte hybrids -> non-freaky neophyte hybrids (except for some serious alopaecia) -> purestrain.

Two more Blackstone Fortress heroes done!

All that remains are the preacher guy with the servo skull cannon and the rat twins. We'll see when I get around to them...

Two other random figures finished- the male sumo from Forbidden Fortress and Modiphius' Dejah Thoris resin.

I feel like I could've done better on both of them. The sumo's hakama/ mawashi thing was really boring in a plain color so I made some pattern all over it. I'm not sure if they're flowers or butterflies. Maybe they're both.

Dejah Thoris is alright. I'm not a fan of her head at all. It's not bad in any technical sense. Something about her head design just isn't appealing. I do like that her clothing seems somewhat appropriate for her stature and the small amount that people of Barsoom tend to wear. It's not a cheesecake as some of the other interpretations out there, that's for sure.

At least my core set of John Carter figures are finished now!

I'm not sure why Dakka keeps resizing all my photos into something super gigantic, but it's time for some Kingdom Death ladies.

Here's the new Swashbuckler. She's one of the new plastic generic class models. I haven't seen any painted versions of her yet. Is mine the first? Weird. At least it'll serve as a testament to those who need some inspiration and how to paint her better. Plus her boots look kinda lame. Should fix those up too.

I see the skin turned out kinda lumpy and blah. I really need to go back and touch that up now. Otherwise I'm content with a ready for tabletop paint job. I feel like I need to work on her base more, and I don't really know where to go with it.

The Messenger of the First Story is finally done, despite receiving her with the base game many years ago. I'm happy with most of it except her eyes and the stone face on her base. I should probably do some drybrushing on that face.

Also the new Loonboss. He isn't a whole lot of exciting paint apps but I finally got him done. Now to start that Loon King.

I don't know why Dakka is making my photos super gigantic.

The better to see all their sloppy errors perhaps? Ehhhhh....

Speaking of sloppy errors, let's look at things that are just about finished, but not quite, and are in need of some serious touch- ups!

I am impatiently waiting for my Easter Kingdom Death stuff, and rather than start a new project I finished one from some time ago. I nearly tossed her in the trash a few times I was so unhappy with how this figure was going.

I stuck it out and she's about 90% there. I need to do some clean up and touch up in certain areas but I'm at the point where she's almost tabletop worthy. I ruined her face though when I primed her, and the paint job she has isn't helping a whole lot. She'd languished in a box for a good few months since she was released, so at least that's progress happening!

Abaddon is coming along as well. He's also about 90% of the way there. A few more things I want to do and certainly needs a bit of cleaning and straightening up. Getting there though.

One of the Lost Valley dinosaur people from Bones 4. Base colors are done. Seriously needs some highlights though. Feels too dark.

The other two are 15mm guys from Battle Valor. They should be done before the weekend.

A Dark Age figure. This is the limited edition version of Saint Johan. Or is it Quietus? Both names perhaps? I know I have the Skarrd books that have him in there. Time to actually read them. I need to finish up a few more details on him as well.

I'm thinking after they are done it's time for a return to lizards and perhaps some minotaurs. Maybe more Kingdom Death. I should probably paint some of those big Creature Caster models as well...

Haven't posted here in a bit due to my work computer (where I usually post photos) being really weird about loading Dakka and spending most of my free time dorking around with Youtube.
It's bugging me that my photos are getting super blown up and making everything look much sloppier than they appear in person. Blech.

Here's a few things I've been working on that I don't think I've put anywhere else yet.

This guy was 99% finished the weekend he came out... and then he sat in front of me for the last few weeks waiting to get finished up. I did paint his eyes- it's just hard to see.

The Death High Twilight Knight. I have really enjoyed this line of models so far. I would like to see more gentleman in the line though, as there's only one to the six or seven ladies released so far.
I should have a few more finished pretty soon.

An old metal Oldblood lizardman, just to highlord it up a bit and get back in the swing of things as the Lost Kingdom and Last Sword lizards start to slowly get ready to arrive. Definitely need to clean up some of those colors on him though.

An old Dark Age model I got in a lot. I can't tell who she is, which is sad since I've got most of the CMON books and you would think she'd be in there in some shape or form. Maybe the resculpt is substantially different? She's really stiff. Not as bad as the cocky old Warwind, but still pretty stiff.

The priest guy from Blackstone Fortress. He's almost done. Needs work on the servoskull for sure and a lot of cleanup on the highlights that I did a poor job on. Need to fix his book too. He's got a Shieldwolf Sister hanging out with him from BobtheInquisitor. The SF ones are starting to grow on me a bit after painting them.

Speaking of Shieldwolf sisters, I've made some progress with the rest of the crew I got. Slowly but surely they'll be done. The plan was to try and play Fear & Faith from Ganesha Games this weekend with Barzam. Hopefully I can finish these Sisters up and they can fight his Sins from The Others.

Still irritates me how Dakka is messing with my photos.

Finished up my Grimskull Emperor Sisters. They all look the save, except for this girl here with no helmet. Also got the Bloodmaster finished finally.

A Dwarven monk from Durgin Paint Forge. I like this guy. Tried to give him a bit of an Akuma style.

My Spanish Street Fighters. These were from the same eBay store as my Cloud Strife model. Not a fan of Ken's flames but they're serviceable.

Two 15mm models that looked a lot better when I was attempting to take the photo than how they now appear. Frustrating. I do like that lizardman though. He's a "Scalian" from Battle Valor games. The power armor is a Khurasan model.

Two different takes on Lust Demons from two different companies. The left with all the hands is a Raging Heroes "Death Dancer" while the right is a Matriarch of Ecstasy from Creature Caster. I'm liking the Creature Caster model a bit more. I need to give her another set of hooks and blades to hang from one of her right scythe arms still.

Both are in need of a bit more work though.

Burtz the Ghost Caller from Titan- Forge miniatures. He's a big orc. Even bigger with the flag and the ghosts. I feel like I should paint a logo of some sort on that flag. Also need to fix his actual skin in some spots.

Oooo, you got (at least one of) the Matriarchs I had intended to buy the set when it launched, but didn't really want the slaves and knew I wouldn't be working on them for a lot of months, too many KOW armies to slog through this summer. SO extra great to see one painted! She's also a lot taller than I expected! And/or the Dancer is shorter (I have all of them as well, but barely have the patience to build good resin, let alone RH resin).

Cool on the Khurasan power armor as well, I was recently looking at that line, or at least the less-teched out versions (which remind me a bit of Chaos Marines).

Those low tech guys are quite good bases for making Chaos forces, I agree! A little bit of green stuff and they'd be good to go!

I have all the Matriarchs, she's just the first one I actually painted. Scratch that- I'm missing the bard figure sitting on a serpent that I think was a convention exclusive. I'll need to hunt her down.

Creature Caster's said these Matriarchs are basically their equivalent of the GW Heralds and they're all on 40mm bases too. They'll be making troops more in line with human- sized models. When that happens, I don't know.

The Death Dancer's are pretty much human size (and on 25mm bases).

Whoa, why are the pictures SO BIG?

Oh, got them rescaled. The Creature Caster not-Keeper is really nice!

The grimskull sister looks ace. And I like the painting on the dwarf, but for some reason he reminds me of Little Critter.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The street fighters also look fantastic, especially the dragon punch flames. The ghost caller looks pretty good, too. The ghost looks a bit flat, but the rest of him is super colorful and cool. The Slaaneshi demons, too.

Painted a ton of stuff that I haven't had a chance to photograph. Most of it is on Youtube anyway.

Happy to have actually gotten this guy almost finished!

Wow that’s huge .

Great work, did you use contrast paints or just regular to get that done?

Gonna say traditional, given the lack of goop everywhere, but I could be totally wrong, since he's at such a huge scale. Either way, sweet to see one of these lads in the wild and with paint! Much larger than I thought, although this does confirm that I would rather him without wings, those are pretty tiny for his size, at least to my eye.

Traditional paint- local shop doesn't have any left. The contrast on my phone's camera makes the legs all look the same shade which they don't really.

Those wings are pretty big too. I have my doubts they'd actually be able to support his weight but they're still quite large- the depth of them doesn't show well in photo.

I always like how Creature Caster's really big models make sure to have enough clearance space around the base for all the little models to be able to swarm around it.

He's probably one of the largest tabletop models I've attempted to paint. The angle makes the marine look a bit larger in comparison to the Drakon than it actually is.

It's getting me geared up to take on painting a few more of their models along with my Archaon and KD Dragon King that have sat unpainted on shelves for years now!

I noticed I haven't posted much lately. Stupid phone resizing everything, school starting back up, brother visiting with his kids from Japan, working on Youtube videos... time to get back to Dakka'ing!

Since I last posted anything on Dakka, which was like a month ago, I've painted a crapTON of figures. Like, a lot. Here's what I had handy from the last weekend's batch of spraying stuff.

Some fun with contrasts via Para Bellum's starter set. Brute Drones and a lone Man at Arms.

Three more Corvus Cabal members. That's my second completed Warcry warband now, after the Cypher Lords and the Untamed Beasts are very close behind.

Speaking of Untamed Beasts, here's two of my favorites. All I have left now is the beast tamer with the whip and the whole group is finished!

Work has progressed on my Blood Tribe models from Raging Heroes.

Still need a bit of work done and probably not have photos taken in the middle of the night with poor lighting, but...

Also got two of the Chronicles of the Wayfarer models to a point that I was satisfied with-

Probably back to Kingdom Death models when these are all finished up...

Blood tribes women look great , too bad they are so much larger than the GW figs.

Also just happened across your YouTube channel. (Couldn’t be bothered to click the link on your posts ) but saw the Gotha Knights one as I just picked up a box for dirt cheap. Great sound quality, I subscribed to the channel and will have to watch a few more.

Good God I haven't posted pictures in almost a year. For shame. New camera means new photos... even if they end up on social media too. Some of this stuff is too obscure to not have any sort of net presence.

Been doing a bit of 3D printing since stay at home started.

Crazy bug elf monster dude from Battle Yak Miniatures.

More of those bug guys, the Primal Heart Eldarch. Little one is a Phyllarc Imago and big one is a Phyllarc Predator. Matte sealer ruined the paint job but it's most likely my fault. I don't think the paint was as dry as I thought.
These models were all sorts of modular with a lot of parts. While you can smash the parts all together in a 3D building program it's not the same as the tactile pleasure of gluing my fingers together while building them.

Battle Yak Miniatuers mentioned returning to these models some day in the future with further models, but I really want more bug- like heads or crazy looking helmets.

I think these are the closest we've come to ever getting models for a Splicers RPG skirmish game! That makes me sad, thinking about how Palladium has so many neat designs that will never see a 3D representation.

Big Face the Brute from Raging Heroes new thieves guild models. He really is big!

A sampling of the Feudal Guard models that Makers Cult designed. A crusader, a heavy weapon, and a basic grunt. They're all cross compatible too!

Some of those I saw in the video, but these still photos give me a chance for my gaze to linnnnnnnnger. I really love those crazy bug-Eldar and the big guy. The armored guardsmen are new to me, and they look snazzy. The purple and gold work well together.

I like the bug elfs too. I really hope Battle Yak makes more- he had some interesting designs still in the works.

Apologies for the oversaturated colors.

Got the Temple of Justice guys done for Relicblade. It's about time considering how many kickstarters I've backed of Sean's.

Some Battle Pigs for them to fight. Specifically Brackish Pigs, as those have greenish skin... although with the orangey hair it leans more into SF2 Blanka territory...

Big photos of big models that were finished that needed a big amount of time to get done in the first place. Bigly.

The Queen of Ecstasy from Creature Caster. Sorry her claws are out of focus and in the way.

Death Elemental from Creature Caster as well. Surprisingly resilient considering how whispy all those spirits look, having dropped him multiple heights on multiple occasions now. Those damned spirits snag on everything!

Colors look washed out on this Goreblight's photo but it's a nice mess of unpleasantness in person. Guessing everything blends together when photographing it.

The colors on the Death Metal Elemental’s torso and weapon really pop in that photograph, but the colors of his swirling ectoplasm show up better in the video for some reason. Either way, he’s quite the charmer.
