Right now I have a lot of anti-infantry options in my painted Eldar army. I have Rangers, Scatter Laser Platforms, and things like Harlequins painted up. I have one painted Falcon. With broken guns (short version-- I didn't really take care of my stuff).

Everything else I only have 1 of, and I'm not ready to start buying duplicate squads yet. What would balance out my infantry force for a somewhat viable army? What kind of Farseer would you recommend with a walking gunline of Guardians and Ranger/Pathfinders? (I haven't bought an Autarch yet).

I realize that the single Falcon will be a fire magnet.

Any suggestions?

Fire Prisms and Warlocks (in units of 'em or attached to jetbikes) make good AT units.

Jetbike Farseer. Yes, even for walking gunlines. Fortune and Guide are great. Doom and Mind War are ok.

A Fire Prism as AT is a 160pt Laser cannon, If you combine the beams of two prisms they become a 320pt Rail Gun. (There are reasons a Prism is a good unit but pure AT is not it.)

Provided you're not using your Heavy selections for Falcons, which is what you should be doing.
A Wraith lord with a Bright lance and missile launcher has much better AT for fewer points than a prism.
For pure anti tank Vibro Cannons make fantastic AT as they Auto glance any armor rating, you can get 3 of them for one heavy slot and they are effectively indirect making them very survivable.

Your serious anti tank choices are....

A Jet bike Autrach with a fusion gun.

A Farseer or Warlock with a singing spear on a bike. (Warlock rides with 3 jet bike gaurdians.)
Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent, and or wave serpents with Bright lances.

I personally like to put Prince Yriel in a falcon with 5 fire dragons. (though many would object that this is simply throwing 5 dragons away.)

Eldar Jetbikes are great! Not much fire power but fantastic survivability due to Jump shoot jump and great objective grabbers which is the whole eldar strategy these days.

Vibro Cannons (battery of 2 is a good balance) are very easy to use, and catch a lot of people off guard.

Nothing beats a Falcon with 6 Fire Dragons for easy tank killing. Drive up, unload, kill tank.

With Bright Lances costed as they are, they're not really a viable tank killing option for Eldar. It's the less obvious stuff like Fusion Gun Jetbike Autarchs, Singing Spears, Vibrocannons, etc., that will suprise the other guy. Nobody will be surprised by Dragons in a Falcon, but then again, there's not much they can do about it.

Fire Dragons work great.

I have a Bright Lance Guardian squad, but they're more for occupying ground space than actually killing stuff.

The BL/EML Wraithlord is quite effective too.

Cool.

Looks like the easiest methods are going to be Autarch with jetbike or the Guardians with the Warlock.

Do you think the Autarch on jetbike box is enough to build an Autarch with a fusion gun? or will I need to chop up a Fire Dragon or an Autarch on foot to pull it off? Would it be okay for me to buy the Autarch with wings?

Also, what else do you get in that Autarch jetbike box? Easy enough to convert to Farseer with Singing Spear?

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I like Guardians with Brightlances.

Fire Dragons will get out of your Falcon and kill one thing before dying.

Singing Spears and Fusion guns have the same problem, and that is a 12” range. Most tanks are in the rear with the gear, and you will have a lot of trouble getting a shot.

Wave Serpents are very expensive and fragile shooting platforms.

When you say you like Guardians with Brightlances, how many are you talking about there? I wanted to leave room for Pathfinder squads.

I take 2-3 squads, but you need guide if you want them for some heavy duty tank killing.

That BS 3 will slow you down some.

Do Guardians need Warlocks this edition? Or do Warlocks shoot up the point cost too much?

Guardians with Scatter lasers sitting on your board edge or in terrain playing hide-and-seek, don't need 'em.

Storm Guardian units, Guardians moving up to shoot at 12" (lord knows why but people do it), and Guardian Jetbikes that aren't playing hide-and-seek can really use a hand from Warlocks.

Man if I could stick Warlocks into DA units...that'd be a neato army. lol

So Brightlance cowering Guardians = no Warlocks. Gotcha.

Warlocks are only good in Jetbike squads. They have the speed to get the warlocks into position to do the most harm.

Guardians are cheap at 110 points for 10 and a brightlance. If you are going infantry heavy, you do need an Avatar to keep them fearless though. 10 wounds at range are hard to kill, even with no save. Also the ability to move and shoot is a huge bonus.

I'll leave the Avatar out for now. I still have the old one that's based on the large monster Fantasy base.

The only thing that concerns me about those heavy weapons is the price. 30 bucks? I know you get three figures in the box/blister/whatever, but wow that's a bit much.

Luckily I have Vibrocannons from once upon a time...

Two Falcons filled with Fire Dragons incl an Exarch with dragon breath, a very versatile combo, anti-tank and anti-infantry.

2x Dragons in a Falcon is my preferrence for mobility, killiness (admittedly one-shot killiness) and frustruation fator for one's opponents.

With a walking gunline though, a Wraithlord could not only be good AT but also a helpful CC counter. If you're into static shooty, it's a better choice than more Guardians IMO. It'll also distract some AT fire from your Falcon (full of Harlies?).

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

My list has the following for anti-tank

2 Prisms
Fire Dragons
Shining Spears
Autarch on bike (Last resort-He has Haywires)

plus lots of strength 6 shots that can maneuver for side shots.

For my dedicated anti armor:

-Wraithlord w/ Brightlance and EML
-2 Vibro Cannon Battery
-5 Fire Dragons (although they are a bit of a one shot wonder, so they may be dropped)

Extras in the army that can do it:

-Singing Spear Warlock in Jetbike squad
-Any Warlock in any of my 5 other Guardian squads (very last resort, however)
-Avatar (some folks forget he shoots essentially a melta gun, but can still assault if my opponent is really careless)
-Eldrad (still has a Witchblade)
- For anything with 12 or less armor, I have a whole lot of S6 shooting.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Felix you can easily make weapons platforms from extra Eldar bits you'll have after buying your army.

Just 20 seconds of conversion work to do so. Buy everything but the platforms, and see what you have.

Hell I'm sure you can buy single weapons for a buck, then convert them up.

I haven't bought ANY Eldar weapon platforms since buying the *first and only* one almost ten years ago and seeing how bad the model was, and how easy it was to make platforms myself.

The basic good options are:

1) Singing spears on bikes (be they farseers or warlocks)

2) Mounted fire dragons. 6 in a falcon is standard but 5-6 in a wave serpent works too.

3) Wave serpents with bright lances. Lots of people frown on this one but I’ve had a fair amount of success with it. Only do it on a serpent that isn’t transporting dragons (don’t put all your eggs in one basket). In general, people like to shoot as scoring units so they often ignore the serpent. Many also live by the “glance it and move on” theory, so it often lives quite a long time.

4) Dreadnaughts with bright lance and missile launcher.

Having no experience with vibro cannons, I can neither confirm nor deny their tank busting powers. I am skeptical though.

Some slightly less effective but still viable options would include bright lances in guardian squads, bright lances on vipers, witch blades, and harlequin kisses. All of these options work but are less reliable due to being BS3 or requiring the unit to be in hand to hand.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

My only Wave Serpent (Forgeworld) has a TL bright lance. Once by far the best choice, now it is wildly overpriced. However its still a fairly relibble anti tank shot.

I can attest to vibrocannons killy. I don't use them, but I have seen them glance what Eldar normally can't hurt with more 'standard' builds that don't include BL's. Things like Monoliths and Land Raiders eat it pretty hard with 3 BS3 shots...if any hit you take the glance. Not bad against infantry either.

Those vibros are often found in my Eldar army lists. I used them yesterday and I tabled a stearlershock army by turn 5. They really are an amazing weapon.

Ah, forgot about the Spear on a jetbike Farseer. It's really more of an opportunity weapon, but with JSJ it gets nasty shots without as much retaliation as meltas, etc. get. Plus, it hits on a 2+ with S9. Not bad for 3 points! If you take a jetbike for your Farseer (always a good idea if you're ot hiding him in a squad, or are playing Mech), _always_ buy the spear.

And I know you're not into the Snakes On a Plane thing, but if you're not putting Harlequins in your Falcon, Dragons should go in there.
