Hi all, here are two skeletons I have painted from my new Vampire counts spearhead. I must say that aside from the direwolves the stuff in the set is really cool and innovative. They are cleverly cast with minimal mouldlines and are very fun to paint. I hope you like them:

Nice purple & black scheme on the shields, and w00t for verdigris.

Looking forward to more fundead. What's your vamp going to be? Vlad or the fugly chick, or you have clever plans ahead?

Well, I will the painting Vlad but my army general will be based off the Warhammerquest Imperial noble. I got rid of the fugly chick straight away in a miniature exgange (good riddance!) anyway, thanks for the comments I am wrking on some more skellies ATM and assembling my Vhargulf and Graveguard so stay tuned

Very nice work! I've been trying to get a similar effect with the blue that you have on the swords and other metal objects... but cant get it to look nearly that good.

lol

It looks great... and I'm sure most of my problem is that I've only been painting miniatures since about June.

Gettin' better... but still not quite adept at the more advanced techniques.

I'm eager to see the rest of your minis!

Your verdigris is -really- nice. And I love the effect on the skelly on the left with the light shining through where the back of his head is gone.

UPDATE TIME!

I swear, I am spoiling you all. First picture is of he three newly painted skellies, on the one with hair I tried a weathered copper effect, I'm not sure I like it second picture is a group shot. I will start apinting my Varghuf as soon as I finish the base for him. Enjoy:

Spooky, I can nearly feel the chilling wind of death.
Nah, I'm kidding, but very neat painting scheme. I like those skellies, they are so much more detailed than the former ones.

Your verdigris looks ace. I'm really digging the middle skelly there. Out of curiosity, is that split open skull head molded as such, or a simple but very clever conversion? The little pinpoint of light coming through the eye socket is perfect for the whole 'relentless march of the dead' atmosphere.

He's sculpted/moulded like that, there is also a head with the jaw hanging off and a head that is "screaming" and you can see through the base of the mouth. It really adds something to the sculpts/unit I think. Brilliant kit the new skeletons

This project just keeps getting better and better. You really need to share the verd. recipe with us... be a sport and enlighten the masses.

Cool! do you have a ratio that you use of the two and how much water or glaze medium you use (if you use that). I happen to be one of the old guys that has 3-4 pots of each of these colors on my shelf. hehehe

Gorgeous skeleton unit, nice dark & evil vibe going on. With the hosts I'm impressed how you've kept the purple/black/verdigris going with the shield

I love the contrast between the dark colors on the skellies and the snow bases. The unit looks gorgeous - like something that should be coming after Conan in a Robert Howard novel.

The skellies are just awesome. they remind me of the good old Ray Harryhausen stop animation skellies from sinbad etc etc. Just look great overall and the verdigris is the deal maker on them I think. The spirit hosts paint looks great too. Not a fan of the models though.

Wow, great work on all of these! Those new new vampire counts are great. I love the way you have painted everything so far, but I'm not sure if you noticed that the grave guard's foot looks unpainted in the pic. It might just be the pic, or you might not be finished, but I just thought I'd point that out for you.

I'll deffinately be paying close attention to this blog.

The GG's foot is painted, but it got some snow on it which makes the bony toes looks sorta gray and unpainted

Looking great! you know what, I think these may be the best 'new version' models of any army GW has produced for many years. other new versions have seemed to be of a more 'comic book' style - a bit too something, bulky, neat? i don't know. I'm not a huge fan of trish's stuff, even thogh the monsters are cool. love the new vamp character models though, do we get pics of these soon? please?
