Excellent work. The weathering on your skeletons is especially nice. I can't wait to see the the finished army.

Hi all, long time no update. But I got another Graveguard done, no shield yet. Got something special planned for the front ranks shields. Also, obligatory desktop pic.

You are doing the great models an honer with a great looking paint job! I am so glad the paint em brown and drybrush on bone approach is gone from their advice on how to piant skeletons! I like the bright but realistic colors as well.

Covenant: I agree with the models look but the price of the cool loking models is that they are some of the most fragile models I have ever dealt with. Many of the weapons and arms were not completley molded (gaps in the middle, sword arm that only molded to the elbow joint etc) and even once assembled they are easy to break, crush, and otherwise damage even with great care taken. Triming the flash from the models often resulted in gouges or broken parts(and I am a pretty careful modeller). I am having to do magnetic basing with this unit as going into and out of a foam storage tray is breaking arms and weapons frequently.

The Snow really adds to the look of the models. Good work overall, it makes me want to start a fantasy army.

Others have said it already, but to emphasize the point, the color scheme is great, and with winter being the most "dead" of seasons, the bases are very appropriate. Very well done!

Not really, I highlighted the coat normally, then added some hatches in the lightest highlight mix for a bit o a roughened up look.

Love the skintones on the ghoul. The filthy mouth and claws come out nicely too.

How many pieces do you paint the ghouls in? I've got mine with one or both of their arms not glued on simply because their poses are so 3-D. I also haven't glued them down on their bases yet because I'm afraid I won't be able to get in and paint under them with a base on. This makes the prospect of painting them a bit more daunting. Plus I'd like to have the arms on so I can use greenstuff to smooth the joins a little bit.

Any advice?

Thanks. I was a bloody fool and assembled them completely before painting, but since, I have broken them off their bases. I would advise assembling the dead/torso/arms as one piece and the legs/base as another and painting them separately. But watch out for that join line. Here, have another ghoul;

Ta, I finished another ghoul, god I hate painting these! Blood turned out ncely though, think there might have been a smidgeon of oil orsomething on that bi of the mini, which caused the nice splatter effect.

Thanks , I really appreciate it. I have painted some more graveguard, undead are starting to get slighty tedious now, but I'll forge on untill Ihave finished the stuff I've got. Then I might take a break and work on some Empire. Couldn't find the shields, they will be added later. I´ll add a tute on the ghoul tomorrow, when I'm les knackered.

I'd like to see some darks around a few edges. Not lining per say, but some shading to help push areas apart from each other. When you can start breaking up the mini into individual shapes, it becomes more pleasing to the eye.

Take the skeleton on the very left. Now take a look at the chest plate and his shoulder armor. The gold would stand out more (in a good way) if there was a little inking to bring out the edges between the two areas. Same goes with his helmet. The skeleton on the right's chestpiece (in this picture) shows some of that in the center, but could be pushed a bit on the shoulders and helmet.

I wouldn't change the colors as the pallet is pretty darned good.

Lastly if they're going thorugh the snow, I'd have snow flocking the bottom of their rags, and possibliy dusting the shoulders and helmet. Anything that's been walking through the snow will have it stuck to them.

Ta mate, to an extent I can see your point, but on the skeleton on the left that is actually bronze. The verdigris was partly introduced for that purpose, namely to add some colour and to differentiate the different areas from each other. The pic also washes out the colours a tiny bit, but just enough to make the verdigris seem less pronounced. Anyway, here's my crypt ghast, quite extensively converted to be eating the half-devoured corpse that also comes in the box. Rather happy with him Pictures came out badly though :(

? :( On that note, I have finished the fifth and final (for now) ghoul, and a skellie. A tutorial for the skellies is coming sometime withing a month or something, am moving to scotland in about two and a half weeks, so things are a bit hectic. So anyway, I hope you enjoy the update, I'm rather pleased witht the skellie, made him out of the "plain" bits in the box and I think he looks pretty elegant for it.

Comments welcome.

Mmmm blood-flavored snow cones ...

Great work once again, those 5 ghouls look ace all together. The ghast is suitably impressive as well, nicely big and happily gorey.

Good luck with the move.
