This is what I always wanted TSR's Gammarauders to be.

Oh man, even though it's prepainted and collectible (two things I strongly dislike), this game looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Let's just say I'm tentatively interested.

I have to say, I am interested as well, but will probably wait to buy stuff that I want or need aftermarket, as I wont do blind collectible buys anymore.

I guess we will find out if PP did a prerelease for this at GAMA tomorrow.

I know a group of people who will jump all over this when it's released, so I'll probably pic some up to play with them.

Let's just hope it's not 1 big thing and 3 little tanks you'll never actually play per pack.

I think the question we need to ask PP here is when we will be able to play a Cloverfield Monster-looking thing against the Godzilla-looking thing.

If they can somehow produce a mini that changes relative size at the same rate the Cloverfield Monster did in the film, so much the better. 10 stories... no! 30 stories.. no wait!... also thermobaric weapons.

Collectible sucks.

Meh, I'll hit Ebay and buy up one of each fig that is $1 and under. even if I splurge and buy a few Rares it's still cheaper than buying cases.

It does look fun, though who knows when I would actually get to play it... My small gaming group gets together infrequently and is almost exclusively 40k...

From what I've seen on the site, there are:
the G.U.A.R.D. human giant robot faction
the Terrasaurs godzilla-esque faction,
what looked like a Cthulu'esque monster so maybe that's a faction.
The art shows a somewhat War of the Worlds inspired alien, so that's another faction.
A pic from the miniatures page linked above shows an Ultraman-stlye giant, so that's the 5th.

What would the 6th be?

I really like the sculpt of that big Terrasaur, nice job on him.

I've been trying to piece it all together and this is what I've come up with. From what I've gathered, the factions are divided between these six Agendas: Protectors, Collaborators, Radicals, Invaders, Destroyers, Fiends

Each has at least one big guy and a bunch of smaller support units. The Factions that have been revealed so far for each Agenda are:

Protectors: The multi-national global defense organization, G.U.A.R.D. (giant mecha Faction) - Defender X supported by civil defense forces that include tanks and helicopters.

Collaborators: The secretive advanced research organization, Shadow Sun Syndicate (Ultraman Faction) - Zor-Maxim and Zor-Raiden supported by Cyber Fighters, smaller Zors called Cyber Infiltrators, Cyber Drones and Interceptors.

Radicals: The eco-terrorists Green Fury and the Terrasaurs (Godzilla Faction) - Terra Khan supported by smaller Terrasaurs.

Invaders: Martian Menace* (alien invaders Faction)- the War of the Worlds tripod looking thing probably supported by those flying saucers that we saw previously.

Destroyers: Planet Eaters* (Daikaiju Faction?) - Gorghadra (who I'm guessing is THIS GUY)

Fiends: Lords of Cthul (Cthulhu Faction) - Cthugrosh supported by smaller Lovecraftian creepy-crawlies.

BTW, All big guys have their basic Alpha form as well as a variety of "Hyper forms" including Mega and Ultra, each of which has different powers.


* I was stumped on the name of these Factions until I read the copyright info at the bottom of the Monsterpocalypse page.

Collectible Mini game? No thanks. Not interested in the slowed, "rare = better" concept, forcing me to ebay or buy a million boxes.

No one forces you to play with the 'best' models.

You should be quite able to have enjoyable firendly games with whatever you get in a couple of boosters.

I own a metric ton of Mage Knight and Heroclix and I almost always played with commons and uncommons.

I've only been waiting for a game like this since 1980...

depending on where their made (chinese bastards) I'll be interested. may have to really on ebay or possibly trade magic cards for monsters.

I'm hoping that it doesn't take too long for more of the bigger creatures and main personalities to come out. It seems that there's only 1 big monster per faction (2 if you consider the smaller Shadow Sun Syndicate Big Guys). Looking forward to seeing more big guys, it would allow for more original and varied list creation.

The Ultra, Mega, etc. Hyper forms are seperate models, but I don't know how different they will look. They may just be those clear versions we've seen. I guess each pack comes with the Alpha form and a Hyper form.

I get what you're saying though, Grim. It would be cool to see other large reptilians for the Terrasaurs, different mecha for G.U.A.R.D., etc. I wouldn't be surprised however, if future Big Guys and support units are released as brand new Factions to fill out the various Agendas.

Any chance the translucent versions seen in the ToyFair shots are the Ultra / Mega / Hyper versions of the same monsters?

I dig the saucers well enough, detach that massive flight coloumn - EVEN though it might be a 'light beam' for sucking up cattle, rednecks and baby terrasaurs :S - and be good to go. Now I need to see the tripod!

Privateer had a man-sized Gorghadra on display at GAMA.

I wonder if this means you use multiple Agendas, Factions within the same Agenda, or each Faction get multiple Big Guys? All three maybe?

Monsterpoc unpainted plastics on those 2 pages. Tripod = pretty nifty, and we see other monsters from the factions.

Beat me to it Boss! Looks like one of the variant forms(?) of Cthugrosh has arms and legs instead of tentacles. Then we've got a smaller Terrasaur, a Zor from the Black Sun Syndicate, Martian Menace tripod, Gorghadra, a Lords of Cthul support critter, and Defender X.

Happy that the support thingies are keeping my interest in addition to the big guys. I had worried it'd be like big cool stuff and then little "whatever" support units you're stuck with.

Just to make it more cuddly, have you noticed that our "Joined" dates and post counts are nearly the same?

This is all cool, but I'm only interested in enough models to convert up a set of

- Giant Robo
- Gamera

No interest playing ID4 or Cthulu.
