This must be a very unfortunate coment by the IwishtobeVP. I thought that the next US president election was going to rest on the US citizens older than 18 but I guess that for some people the Divine Right of Ki... er Presidents is alive and well.

Just what I want: someone sitting down to negotiate nuclear anti-proliferation efforts (or pick your major international issue) with other major countries stating that the results "are in God's hands".
No, they aren't. They would be in YOURS.

Fair is not "everyone gets the same" or "spreading the wealth." It is "everyone gets what they deserve and earn."
This would apply if said "earning system" was fair by your definition.

Ugh...if McCain wins and bites the dust (he's pretty damn old) than we're f***ed, sure it'd be nice to have a female president (history making), but not Palin. It's a good thing Obama destroyed McCain in the debate.

Indeed he is damn old, 74 I believe. And there is a very good chance that he will not survive his period if he does become prez, he has melanoma (is that how you spell it? W/e it's skin cancer). If Palin does become prez, It'll be interesting to see what she does, but I doubt it will be beneficial. I was being sarcastic. I find it interesting that so many left wing self acclaimed "intellectuals" can completely disregard something because it is christian.
It is ignorance and elitism not intelligence.

Who said it was Christian in the first place? There's more than one religion out there that praises God, you know.
It is ignorance and elitism not intelligence.
Like this earlier post that said "ewww christians yuck"

I has nothing to do with christian view. It has EVERYTHING to do with a statement that defines the successes or failure of a presidential campaign with "gods will" as opposed to the vote (and will) of our nation's people.
'God' is not voting. The citizens of this country are voting.
Saying that the "election result rest in God's hands" insults and dis-empowers all of us who cast a vote, for whomever that may be.
It also forsakes any personal responsibility for running one's campaign, successful or not, since if you would win or lose based on "god's will" not personal merit.

Did anyone see that Ohio pastor that said that God needed to make McCain win, or maybe more accurately have Obama lose, because the other Gods (Hindu, Buddha, and Allah) would take it as a sign of weakness? And yes, I know Hindu and Buddha aren't gods, but he listed them as gods that people prayed to.
It was just weird. I don't it reflects on the majority of Christians or Christian thinking before that little chestnut burns.

Funnily enough, some Muslims claim that its 'God's will' that Israel should be destroyed.
Some Jews claim its 'God's will' that Israel sieze Palestinian territory in defiance of international law.
Some Christians claim its 'God's will' that homosexuals should be killed.
It seems to me that anytime anyone says something is 'God's will', its an excuse to avoid personal responsibility for doing something that the speaker knows is wrong but wants to do anyway...

The Book of Adams tells us that God has a terrible sense of humour, as nature suggests that the highest form of humour is schadenfreude.
If this is not proof of his existence, it is at least proof that election results are in his hands.
It also goes without saying that the best way to worship God is to laugh at his jokes - to not do so would surely make him angry. Fortunately, most people laugh on the inside. He considers hopeful prayer funny enough to let slide.

Sure. In many areas of life, KISS is an invaluable concept. But it’s inapplicable to actual nuts & bolts policies for economic success, as good ol’ Greenspan just conceded. Economics and business are just too complex.
Capitalism is wonderful for the generation of wealth. Government oversight, restrictions, and occasional intervention are necessary to make sure not all the wealth goes to the 1% who don’t actually need it.
I hear McCain using the phrase “spread the wealth” as if it’s an awful concept, but that’s the whole basis of Social Security (among many other policies and programs). We don’t want our old people dying in the streets, or being left completely destitute if their savings and investments are wiped out, as they were in the Great Depression. There are lots of places in our society where we choose to spread some wealth to alleviate suffering and make our country a better place.
