So yea just wondering why people still use those poorly moddeled gretchins? there are like 8 different models so in a squad of 30 your seeing each three times.

I was just wondering why people dont buy a pack of 20 goblins from fantasy, give em modiffied shootas and there you go, I've never seen it done before.

i guess because they are small and dont require much care but that is soon to change as come of Jan 09 we will see the release of plastic gretchen in a box set [which i will be buying as many as my money at the time permitts] plus fantasy come with square bases and in 40k we like our round bases.

but thats just IMHO

converting WHFB goblins isn't as easy as it sounds, getting their hands to hold guns can be a pain. I and many others are waiting for the new plastics with great anticipation (although GW haven't officially confirmed their existence yet)

If you hate the 'poorly moddeled gretchins', you may be in for partial disappointment - the supposed photos we've seen indicate that some look like direct plastic recasts of the metals. This has caused further confusion, as it's difficult to tell whether some photos really are of the new plastics at all... :(

I too want a rabble of all-different models in every unit - so long as GW aren't silly enough to give them all unchangeable poses, that should be easy enough.

I wouldn't hold out for grotzookas and other Kanz bits, but it would be reasonable to expect a few 'no weapon' and 'holding ammo' poses for weapon crews and character/vehicle upgrades

What?
Have we seen the same pictures?

There's another thread with pics from Games Day ITALY... and it has pics of the grots ON SPRUE.
I'd say that they've "officially confirmed" them.

Also, there are links to images in that thread that show them painted... and there are a number of poses... which do NOT resemble the existing ones.

I don't think that getting the fantasy grots to hold guns is hard at all... it just looks weird, since they don't have a "trigger finger." It looks like they're about to swing the pistol like a small club. LOL

People probably use them because they don't require assembly and conversion. I'd hate to have to assemble and convert 60 tiny goblins with guns.

I'm even one step lower, I still use a bunch of those 2nd edition ones. I made small conversions to them in an attempt for variety but yeah.....it's like 10 million of the same guy in each unit.

I've seen a few of those goblin-grots and I don't really like them usually. I see them and instantly think fantasy. Your mileage may vary. Looking at those Gnoblars, they might be a little better.

Yes, they showed them in a product seminar at the Chicago GT also. Very nice in my opinion.

My grots are 10 years old. How old are yours?

The other issue is that some people do not like converting. So using what is already made is the best and easiest choice.

Yes there may be ONLY 8 poses or something like that but come on ( I think its closer to 12 poses), who dosnt love the massive amount of Character in these guys.

8 is actually alot of poses for GW to do on a unit. These were for the Rebel Grot faction for GorkaMorka but easily transfered to 40K just add a runt hearder and Bam!

They are so cool you cnat paint just a few, besides the fact you need loads of them to be worth fielding. The new sculpts are not as detailed at these metal ones and the to are STATIC poses! You can swap heads but thats it, so dont go thinking the new ones are goin to be too much different. I bet you dont get 8 poses in the new ones!

I'll stick with my 50 older ones!

see i just dont like the repitition, the gnoblars are pretty convincing, sure goblin fanatics probally arn't the best way to go, maybe just normal regiment, and the shields work well as glyphs.

rumour has it that it will have 10 gretchen and one runtherder with squig for $30AU but there is the possibility that you might be able to buy a special set when it comes out to have 30 gretchen and 3 runtherders for as little as $60AU but those are just rumours ^^

so im looking at around £15 for 10 and a slaver.
or £30 for 30 and a 3 slavers.

so, anywhere between £180 - £270
not bad i guess

then add 9 kanz to that an it starts getting alot worse XD
