Ladies Love the Vibro-Cannon Operator

Well, I'm toying with an army led by Shrike.
He has jump packs, benefits from the USR of Infiltrate (incl. the squad he joined), and the whole army can FoF.
How to make the most out of it?

With stormshield-thunderhammer terminators in landraiders for effective first turn charges. Would hide him in a assultsquad for even more firt turn action.
Actually think this will be one of the more dangerous build.

Join Shrike to a unit of Assault Terminators in a Land Raider.
Have it Outflank.
Land Raider moves 12" off the board edge, the unit disembarks 2", runs d6", charges 6". 21-26" charge, off the board edge.

There are two ways to let him infiltrate:
1. Infiltrate with another squad, say Assault squad. With FoF this squad eventually gets the first turn charge. They kill the enemy unit and then get shot up.
2. Infiltrate via reserve. What, if he appears in round 5?
Not really satisfactory.
How to make good use of FoF ?

You run both, assult terminators in landraiders and Shrike with assult marines for lots of stuff arriving in round 1. (Dont even think your allowed to put jumppackers in a transport, unless something changed i dont know about). But you will have at least 2 if not 3 LR rushing him, maybe even reaching some stuff in round 1.
If they wanna shoot up Shrike, fine.. they are in deep trouble for the rest of your army is bearing down on them.

That doesn't work for at least one reason -- jump pack models cannot ride in transports.
As far as the topic, I don't normally advocate scouts but with Shrike they become something to consider.
1) Scout, infiltrate and FoF is pretty damn snazzy, even with the WS nerf. Several 10 man squads with Shrike infiltrating an assault squad is a pretty brutal, in your face option.
2) Makes the scout/storm combo much more useable, as FoF gives a useful increase to the threat range.
Also could take Sicarius to add another infiltrating tactical and get a shot at stealing first turn (not sure that is worth it though in normal sized games).
The terminator/landraider thing is probably the more straightforward and obvious use though.

I was also a fan of the Shrike + tons of scouts possibility. Going so far as to put pedro in there to get +1A for all scout units within 12". Pedro + Shrike + 10 Assault Termies infiltrate up, rest of the list is scouts with cameoline and a few techmarines (heck even thunderfires!) to fortify all the terrain for them.
It's a great first turn smash possibility, but I would worry that any reasonable player would just put their whole army in reserves and wipe your scouts piecemeal on the turn they arrive.

As an aside. Where does it say that jumppack equipped models cannot enter transports?
OT. I like Shrike and a some Vanguards Outflanking. Not tournament efficient, but terribly fun in normal games.

This actually cannot be done as he has a jump pack an it states in the rules that Jump Pack Models may not board transports.

Wow wtf is this putting shrike in a landraider bs landraiders are anti raven guard you put him with shrike's wing (with new codex now an upgraded honor guard or veteran assult squad) and deep strike him with a bunch of drop pods, termies, and other assault squads and have him rape house all over the freakin board trust me i've done it and it works, but if ur not a raven guard player and are just using shrike in an say a gay ass vanilla marines army(which i don't see why you would) then just do the shrikes wing thing and still rape house, but screw the landraider thing thats bs the only vehicle you might want to put him in is a drop pod, but non raven guard players will see that he is a special character so their gut reaction is to put him in a landraider with assault termies, and trust me that does not play shrike to his full potential. I use Shrike, backed up with an assault squad, and two units of close-combat scouts. The Sergeant of each scout squad has a powerfist, combi-weapon (either melta or flamer, not sure yet which is best), and teleport homer, for the two squads of tactical terminators to DS on for some close range firepower and backup punch. In theory, at least, it should work pretty well. Rest of the army is a pair of tac squads, some landspeeders, and a librarian.

what is kallbrand smoking? ok he is ravenguard but you can use him as representing other captains thats what rules say. anyway glad to see shrike get some love. a whole army of fleet sounds nasty, especially with like 30 assault termies. that is 18 inch pie plates of close combat death potentialy for each squad. no where to run when shrike and company arrive. yahoo. was gonna try this build but got side tracked to black templar with furious charge and preferred enemy. but this fleeting termies sounds so tight. i imagine them like banshees on sterioids. ha ha.

also, cant you team him up with Tigerius to get a reroll on reserve rolls? That would make a drop pod assault oriented army pretty damn brutal as they would have a huge range coming out of the pods.
I ran an assault oriented pod army without fleet of foot and it was very effective. The new thunder hammer Termies in this set up would seem to be pretty savage.

Sometimes they are, but typically they are not.
Assume that the two close-combat weapon bonus is not included, unless the 'dex specifies that it is. In Shrike's case, it probably isn't (Normal Captains get 3 Attacks base, why wouldn't Shrike?)

Shrike has two lightning claws and so gets +1 A. The other player was correct.

Assault Terminators in Land Raiders. Shrike can sit behind the land raider until the troops disgorge and then join up with them to protect him from being shot to death.

Shrike + Vanguard Veterans (jump pack+ 2LCs) + 3 Techmarines (bikes+ servo-harness) + Chaplin (Bike) Rerolling to hit (on the charge) and to wound (LC) would make this a nasty unit (can't find any thing stopping bikes from running or fleeting i missed some thing? edit found it i must be going blind)

Some gamers i know fielding shrike (most of them RG) used him with vanguard and weren't satisfied. All of them placed him
in an assault squad after that experience.
FoF did serve well for DS armies. Maybe field shrike with ASM or termies , add some droppods.
Concentrate the force a point. Use FoF to reach objectives / add a second unit into CC / speed up foot sloggin units.
I'm not sure if you want to assault with codex SM units. :S

I'm not sure if you want to assault with codex SM units.
Indeed, SM is best played defensely unless they face an army that can outshoot them ( IG, Tau).
Deploying even closer to the enemy with the benefit of a first turn charge is a bit dangerous.

Okay, I have been playing shrike for a few years now, and I must admit that I am a bit confused. Is there anyway to attach a Vanguard or an assault squad so that they can infiltrate. The rule book mentions that independant characters may be deployed with a unit being being placed in coherency with them, but can you deploy them via infilrate (without Outflanking) as a unit shrike is attached to? Sorry if this a dumb question, but it really has me stumped.
