I haven't gotten to play around too much, just created an avatar and downloaded the netflix thing. Seems pretty spiffy so far.

I like it too. Refreshing to look at and use. Has a quality feel that the old interface lacked. Plus you can have eight people in party chat so no more having to listen to everyone else in the game because you couldn't private chat more than one person you knew.

And you can copy games to your hard drive to cut out the noise!

I had (unrealistically, I think) high hopes for the Netflix service, and while it is amazing the fact is the video quality is still pretty iffy and the lack of surround sound really makes watching movies on an HDTV using that service a little hard to take for a movie-phile like myself.

But still, I'm looking forward to when they fully open up the Netflix feature to allow you to watch (pretty much) whatever movies you want. It will certainly vastly improve the number of titles you can find on Xbox Live.

Now if they would just get with the program and allow me to BUY freakin' movies off of marketplace (instead of just renting them) I would be a happy man. I just don't get it, Apple sells movies via AppleTV so why can't Microsoft?

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

I haven't got an XBox but I like the look of the avatars. They seem to hit a sweet spot in between the Animal Crossing-ness of the Miis and the clunky uncanny valley-ness of Home on PS3.

I'm still getting used to the interface. Instinct says not to like it, but I'm attributing that to it being something new and just having to get used to it. The avatars look decent, and initially I don't understand the purpose of them. However, provided people actually model them after themselves it HAS helped me remember who a couple of the gamertags in my friend list belong to

Here's my Avatar. I really like the scar feature

It's okay, I guess. The installation feature is nice, but it takes too much space. I only have 20Gig.
Which reminds me...a question guys: If I buy a new hard drive for more space, can I somehow transfer the old date over to the new one? I don't see how that would work, but if I can't take my save files with me, I won't buy a new one.

Yes you can. If you buy the hard drive, I believe it comes with a cable you use to attach the old hard drive through the USB port. If you buy the Elite, you have to send away for the cable. I ended up upgrading mine, and it was pretty easy, just follow the directions.

It's my spittin' image I tells ya. I need a haircut though I look like some damned hippy.

On topic. I think it's awesome. The avatars are better looking than on the Wii and we'll be able to download new stuff. I thank God everyday I traded in my Wii for a 360. I just can't believe Wiis suck so hard.

Correction. Wiis don't suck. The fact that a once awesome company keeps making ing casual game crap like Wii Music which get's medicore reviews at best. Twillight Princess in IMO on of the best games ever, Mario Galaxy is fantastic and Metroid Prime 3 is also one damn fine game. But that's it. The only interesting Nintendo game I got since Smash Bros in May or so was Wario Land. Which is cool, but what's next? Nintendo announced a few titles, but nothing really interesting.

Wiis don't such. Nintendo sucks. Until they announce a new Zelda...

So it's kinda like N64 in that it has a few AAA games and nothing else? You'd have thought that they learned from that era.

Personally I'm very happy with the NXE. I don't see avatars as a horrible curse against humanity (unlike many others) and the general layout works well.

At this point, yes Wiis do suck. Poorly designed, in both console and controller. I owned one since launch day up until two months ago when I was just fed up with how bad the entire thing was and chucked it for an Xbox. Nintendo sucks, the Wii sucks, and Zelda wasn't that great. Refreshing but it was over too quickly as anyone with half a brain will solve all the puzzles in under 3 minutes and be very disappointed with their ease.

If they just would have made it to handle decent graphics, I'd still have it. Or if they came out with games that people who play games like to play. It'd be different, but as it stands I feel the Wii itself is a terrible console backed by a company who really isn't aiming for me anymore when it's looking to increase it's market share. They want old people and the child I used to be.

I installed Banjo-Kazooie on my hard drive yesterday. I never had a game running so silent on a console

The question is: does it run without the disc? Somebody tried already?

No the disc is needed. Otherwise people would be renting games, installing them, and returning them. Microsoft was a step ahead... for once.

I like the interface, but not so much the Mii's... I mean avatars...

Oh, and just so you guys know, don't install Halo to the Hard Drive, it makes it run worse, cause Bungie optimized for off-the-disc.
