Marneus issues the challenge:

Deployment:

The forces of disorder opt to keep everything off the table with the plan to walk on Oblits and move rhinos on turn 1. I suggest that he start with everything on the table since the first turn uses night fight rules and I don't really have any long range guns that can hurt him. My opponent offers me a cold one and takes my advice. His rhinos pair up in twos with a prince behind each pair and the Oblits clustered together behind one prince. I opt to move everything on turn 1 and I also won the roll for first turn again opting to move everything on the table for the first turn. This game I shaved a few points so Marneus can sport his bright blue of terminator armor. Master Calgar and his super friends will teleport onto the table.

Also, using night fight rules heavily favors the space marines.

turn 1

Chaos moves up a bit keeping the Oblits and lash princes back behind the rhinos.

My turn on comes scouts on foot, landspeeder storm with more scouts and both rhinos with the LRC up front screening them. Calgar and super friends in reserve.

turn2
Chaos rhinos move up some more with Oblits fanning out. Princes have nothing in range to lash. Oblits open up with lascannons on LRC but cannot roll a pen.

My turn scouts on foot move and run into building for the cover. Landspeeder Storm skirts along the table edge out of lascannon range. Rhinos double up behind LRC for cover and big pappa tank moves up popping smoke and caps one Oblit with multi-melta.

turn 3
Oblits fan out some more with princes surging up beside Nurgle rhinos. Oblits fire multi-meltas into LRC. Two squads are just beyond 1/2 range and can only stun or glance. The other Oblit squad fires at LRC and immobilizes it. One prince charges LRC but fails to hit. Two Nurgle rhinos are in range with meltas but outside 1/2 range and do nothing more than stun or glance.

Marneus and super friends come in with a hit on the scatter dice and tuck in behind the LRC. One rhino fans out to side of LRC, both rhinos in melta range of prince. Five melta shots from rhinos wound prince thrice and LRC drops it with multi-melta. LRC targets wounded Oblit squad with hurricane bolters and twin linked AC dropping wounded Oblit and putting another wound on another Oblit. Scouts open up with sniper rifles and heavy bolter dropping two wounds on the last prince. Marneus fire super bolter into wounded prince to take another wound. Landspeeder Storm hangs back out of Chaos range.

1 KP for Marneus - 0 KP for SPAM Chaos

We know you don't like Chaos, but seriously. Chaos missing everything for the first 2 turns then the Space Marines just super pwning anything they touch? Really GBF? Really?

Also, night fighting heavily favors the Space Marines. Just letting you know again.

turn 4
Lash prince lashes Marneus and super friends out from bhind LRC. Oblits and Nurgle rhinos close in. Oblits fire plasma cannons... three of five hit with two scattering off. Storm shield saves come through for super friends. Nurgle Marines drench Marneus and super friends with meltas... 8 shots, five hit and one dead super friend plus wound on Marneus. Prince charges Marneus and super friends, kills one assault terminator and is beat down to death.

My turn Marneus and super friends move up to assault wounded Oblit squad. LRC shoots everything into another Oblit squad, toasting one. Scouts open up with sniper rifles and heavy bolter killing another Oblit. Marneus and super friends charge Oblits while losing another assault Marine. Both rhinos target one Oblit squad with meltas and drop them.

Marneus - 4 KP, Chaos - 0 KP

How did he fail to hit when the LRC was immobilized? Immobilized vehicles are hit automatically in close combat?

Looks like we made a mistake in regards to hitting the immobilized LRC... forgot that as soon as a vehicle is immobilized all hits in close combat auto hit. LRC would have probably been slagged.

turn 5
All four squads of Plague Marines amble up to target Marneus and super friends with meltas. Last Oblit squad moves up to target LRC. Plague Marines fire meltas... eight shots... six hit... five wound. Lysander takes a wound, Calgar makes a save and another assault terminator is vapped. Oblits destroy LRC. Three squads of Plague Marines charge Marneus and superfriends. 12 attacks at I3, 7 hit, four wounds - all save. 9 power fist attacks... five hit... 4 wound... Marneus saves, Lysander loses another wound and both assault terminators save. Lysander vaporizes two Nurgle Marines, Marneus drops three more... three assault terminators kill two more Nurgle Marines in another squad. Plague Marines pile in.

My turn other squad of tacticals disembark and rhinos scoot away. First squad of tacticals hit Oblit squad with two melta shots and drop one. Rapid fire bolters drop another wound. Other tactical squad fires bolt pistols into 4th Nurgle squad along with meltagun and combi-melta and drop two. Sniper scouts target Oblits and remove wounded Oblit. Tacticals charge Nurgle Marines and kill two more, losing two in return... drawn combat. Fight between Marneus with super friends versus Nurgle Marines -> 10 attacks from Nurgle Marines at I3... 6 hit and 3 wound... Marneus takes 2nd wound and the rest are saved. Marneus drops two more NurgleMarines and Lysander finishes off that squad. Assault terminators finish the last two Nurgle Marines left. Nurgle power fists have 4 attacks, two hit and one wounds killing another assault terminator. Marneus and super friends consolidate towards the Oblits.

Marneus - 5x KP, Chaos - 1x KP

We roll for turn 6 and up pops a six.

So basicallly this list is awesome if Chaos rolls , and if Marines manage

I'm unconvinced that this army can work against any but the most feeble gamers.

Oh we all love fun GBF. But when your trying to tell everyone "Hey this list I made is super awesome!" your batrep shouldn't be you and your friends super wasted. It should be you guys chilling and examining the outcome of the game and the viability of the list.

I really don't have time to play games in a manner just to suit you. We weren't super wasted by any means though but feeling no pain... hee!

Here is my analysis of the All Stars versus lash SPAM:

Lash princes are not a threat versus mechanized list unless a transport is destroyed and the unit that falls out is in LOS of either prince. A smart player will place the squad on a side of the wreck to block LOS if necessary. If the Oblits are using all their shots to take out tanks there will be less shooting available the same turn to target units bailing out of the wrecks.

Oblits versus AV14... they need to use lascannons to penetrate while the tank is outside of 1/2 range. Nine Oblits all firing at the LRC - six hit and one pens... need a 5 or 6 to destroy it. LRC may have cover save from rhinos, making it harder to stop. In objective based missions once the three tanks have gotten dug in it's going to put the pressure on Chaos to play for the win.

The flip side is for the Oblits to target the rhinos first since they are much easier to pop. Still in an objective based game if tanks can get onto some by use of smoke launchers and terrain for cover the rhinos have done their job.

Plague Marines versus Marneus and Super Friends is no contest. Plague Marines are best to play keep away.

Is DSing princes and Oblits a bad idea? I would start with the Oblits on the table in cover for the 4+ but DSing the princes makes them more survivable early on plus it might be easier to lash a unit.

Lash Princes versus Marneus and Super Friends... again no contest for the Imperial Marines. The awesome invulnerable saves means that the power fists and thunder hammers take out the prince in one round.

Nurgle Marines using double meltaguns... To get that close means they are in range to be charged.

I think three squads of 10 Nurgle Marines each would be better than four squads of five. In close combat their T5 and FNP is negated.

So basically the game comes down to how well the Chaos player uses his Oblits versus the mech. I think Marneus can play for a draw in objective based games but give a big edge to Chaos in KP missions.

At Shane - anytime you are down in Florida bring your best army and see what you can do at the table. Your banter is harmless against the power armor.

Thats fine and dandy until the oblits melta/cannon a vehicle off the table with a result of 6 (or a 5 with a melta +1) then Lash your troops close enough to charge.

So you're trying to tell us here that one LR and two rhino's are a problem for 9 oblits to handle? REALLY? Is this really what you're saying? What exactly would you estimate the job of 9 oblits in a Lash list is anyway? You're vehicle compliment in this army is so easy for 9 oblits to handle it would only be the RAREST situation that a decent Lash player isnt going to splatter this army all over the table. All the Lash player needs is the smallest bit of luck....and you're done.

counting on smoke to carry the day anymore is a recipe for disaster. Smoke is a nice perk, nothing more, its not a game plan....and rhino's are made of paper. If someone wants a rhino dead....its finished. Take it from me, my sisters run so much armour 11 its not even funny, and yes, I make extensive use of smoke.

Only in the most favorable of circumstances, like when you charge on your terms with your 600 or whatever pt squad into 170-200 pts worth of daemons, gee, big surprise there. Guess what, grots vs my lightning claw marine command squad is no contest too! On the other hand, if your big termie squad GETS CHARGED by an equal point amount of daemons, the outlook might not be so favorable....and since this is a good opponent we're talking about, your vehicles are already dead.

In DoW I would say its a bad Idea.

What if the nurgle marines are mounted in a single LR and two rhinos? According to you this is an unstoppable combo.

this list would be LUCKY to draw against a good opponent.
