Latest update: Lots of pics, seems I have mastered the macro settings on my camera.
This blog aims to document the progress of the total makeover of my very old genestealer cultist army. Partly this blog is for my own enjoyment and to document what things I've done and materials I've used. Partly it is to entertain you, and hopefully get some clever advice for improvements back.
My stealer cultist army has been around for a long time, and the standard of painting is very bad. Also, it's not really structured to be even nearly playable in any current list. For now I'm using the tyranid list to field them as a horde army. It's working out allright, especially with the feeling, but also with the tactical parts, even though I lack mobile units. I really can't fit anything winged with the lore... Knowing myself I'll probably whip up a small codex of my own in the future.
This here is some examples of the figs I have to work with. Most are at least 15 years old.
Here is the stealer that I've been using to try out my colour scheme.
And here is my first simple weapon conversions, the two acolytes with staffs. These three are used as zoanthropes.
My first step will be to find a method to mass-paint my plastic stealers. I generally don't have a lot of patience with painting, so I tend to rely on pretty quick tecniques, such as drybrushing and washing. The above stealer is based with black and covered in nauseating blue. The blue areas were given a generous semi-dry brushing of enchanted blue and then a dryer brushing of ice-blue. I'm looking to cut down that to only the ice blue. The purple areas are brushed with liche purple and then carefully drybrushed with blood red at the far out edges, such as face and fingertips. It gives a bit darker look than the old-school stealer, while still feeling pretty traditional.
I'd love to get some hints on how to take good pics of miniatures. I've got a small digital camera with all the usual settings (ISO, flash, userdefinable whitebalance, etc)
That's all for now. Thanks for reading

im thinking of doing a cult at some point, just a case of trying to get hold of some hybreds and a good magus model to get em started

Aha, it's always nice to hear from a fellow cultist.
I've read the BoLS dex. It was very impressive and inspirational. Although I do really enjoy creating rules, so I'll probably make my own eventually :-)
My forces at the moment are roughly 60 brothers (most armed with pistols/ccw), 20 hybrids and 20 stealers. I expect to dismantle quite a few of my stealers to get extra arms for my hybrids and buy a box of the new plastic stealers. I also have the two very classical patriarch models (one standing, one on a throne) and the magus you can see above.
As for finding your models, try contacting the GW-mailorder team. They can sell you most any metal model they have ever produced. The classical metal hybrids are made in 1989, and are marked "genestealer hybrid" wich might help you find the right ones.
What sort of models have you got so far?

at the moment got a bucket load of stealers, but no hybreds at the moment, as for brood brothers i got some gang members (GW and non-gw) i can use, and a shed load of classic IG models i can use. The project is curently on hold till i get some hybreds (got enough projects on the go already, DH army, IG army, chaos army (just started) and the wifes WH army)

Mmm, I've also got loads of projects going on. Making this blog is sort of a way to focus myself. You could use the gangers with stealer arms for 3rd and 4th gen hybrids,

I did not think this was the case any more, with the demise of Bitz service. I would love to be wrong, since I have a rather large (and ever growing) list of figures I am interested in, which are now OOP.

You've been out of luck for a couple years. They used to sell almost every metal hybrid as bitz. But they reduced that to the two 'one pose' versions a couple years ago. Then this past January, they did away with the bitz service as we knew it entirely.
So, you're going to be fighting people like me for them on eBay, etc. I had a large supply (90+), but I've blown through most of them building my GCult, pics of which are below.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?community=true&catId=&categoryId=300005&aId=11600017
My approach to color was to downplay the original blue/purple scheme. I used a khaki and a very dark blue as the main colors, with small elements (that are hard to see in those shots) in purple. I'm not trying to dissuade you from using the original scheme, I'm just encouraging you to experiment a little.
I like your use of the hooded metals as acolytes.
Oh, and when taking pics, don't use the flash. Light your models using two light sources, one from the front and one above. It looks like you did that with your first couple pics.

Hmm, I wonder if GW would mind if I learned to cast copies of the models I have. I've heard it is not horribly tricky if I can settle for a decent effect and a little loss of detail. As long as I don't sell them I think I should be below gw's worth-bothering-about-radar. It might even be legal here in sweden, we have good copyright laws for "artistic use".
Oh, it's _your_ army that I've been admiring :-) It really is an impressive work, and very inspirational. It looks realistic (eh... as in "religious alien insurrection against the falsely deified corpse-emperor"-realistic) while having a very striking look on the battlefield. And the classic colours are very well implemented.
As for my palette, I see the primary challenge in keeping close to the original colours, while trying to reinvent the nasty feeling that they gave me the first time I saw them. I intend to be a bit more creative with my broodbrother. First up there is probably the "frater militia" models. I am thinking abouyt giving them pretty bland civilan clothes in grey nuances, and paint the pieces of cloth they have wrapped around their arms in a livid purple.
I'll try to get arrange some more lightsources. I asked santa for a 100W daylight bulb for this christmas. If I get that it should help some :-)
Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Mostly a post to test my new photo tecniques and document my materials. Here are two of the old spacehulk neophyte hybrids that I equipped. The metal parts are from the original Lizardmen Saurus spearmen. The rightmost chainsword-blade is from a CCW-sprue that came with the Scum model below. These two and their third mate, that lost his arm and wasn't allowed in the picture, will prob be used as raveners.
This is a tryout for my supression-shield armed brothers that will defend my important characters. I'm thinking six of these, mounted two by two on cavalry bases. They will make 3 tyrant guards to protect my patriarch on a throne. The base model is a Scum from the Rogue Trader range with original plastic right arm and handflamer. The left arm is from a highelf plastic silverhelm. Shield is plasticard and paper with the studs punched out from the backside. Please disregard the paint on the model, it was done in -97 :-)
That's all for now. Next up is to finish my shielder squad and assemble my patriarch on a throne.

My boyfriends apparently brought the camera when he went for vacation, so no pics of all the fun I've had. Anyhow, I still need to write what I've done, pics in a week or so. I have been modeling a squad of hybrids with grenade launchers. I plan to use them as tyranid warriors with death spitters (and a BS, probably modeled as a missile launcher). I wanted them to look a bit primitive, so I took inspiration from the M-79 one shot 40mm grenadelauncher.
It turned out to be damn annoying to model these. The guns wasn't too bad. Best part was an old ork shoota from the gorkamorka box. The problem was fitting the weapons to the arms to the metal hybrid. All arms have been biggerized a fair bit since the metal hybrid bodies were cast, 20 years ago. So I have been cutting and glueing and swearing for a while now. Best I managed was the arms with a musket from the empire militia box ( WHFB and Mordheim) and heavily cut up flail arms from chaos marauders. Two grenade launchers are ready and I think the following 3 will go a bit faster. I'm a bit worried they will look too much like shotguns.
As for other progress: The six brothers with supression shields are mostly done and painted. I was worried the silverhelm arms was too fantasy, but they looks good. I've settled for a paintjob on my first squad of broodbrothers: commando khaki, ice blue and spacewolf grey are the main colours. Details like bags, belt and boots in a dark grey while one detail such as an armband, scarf or similar are in liche purple. I find this gives a pretty civilian look, especially since I use two of the main colours on each model, and swap them around from model to model. Nearly halfway done with the paintjob on my first 24man squad. Still don't know what to do for basing. I'll not have the patience to do scenic bases for the 5p meatshields so I have raided nearby playgrounds, potted plants and pet stores for different grains of sand.
That's it for now. As always, suggestions and cheering are welcome, even though you are welcome to wait until after I've posted some pics.

So, only four hours later I've found out that it was indeed much easier to make the last grenade launchers. I'm stilli working on making the one that reloads his gun.
The squad will be one ML (RTB01 design) and 5 GLers. So 6 tyranid warriors, 5 death spitters, 1 TL barbed strangler, 5 scything talons. = 206p
I also swapped a few arms on the shielders. More shortrange weapons such as handflamers and autopistols.

Yeah, they are very old. I regularly fight people who are younger than my models.
Games Workshops models are not at all anatomically proportional. This can be easily seen if you place them next to historical truescale models of the same size. Arms are too big, heads too big, legs too short, weapons are far too big etc. This is apparently called "heroic scale miniatures", and was much less noticeable 20 years ago. Since GW has set the standard for models, they have sort of tilted peoples expectations of what metal soldiers should look like. So yes, these models seems very much out of proportion today.

Finally, I've got my camera back (he didn't even use it *sigh*). Some notes on what I've done here can be found a few posts up.
First out are a few examples of my brood brothers, still lacking a wash or so. The balding guy second from right is probably my favourite model in the whole army, he looks so out of place on a warhammer battlefield. Second from right have got a bit more blue-ish boots+ gear. Better or worse?
Then my brothers with shields. Some arms and the shields still needs paint, and ost still need a few washes and brushes. I'm not quite sure about colours on the shields, but I want them to look like riot shields taken from arbitors. I think they will say SNUT across them. For you non-swedes, roughest translation would be PIG, as in derogatory slang for cop.
Here is a better pic of my two versions of stealer colours, heavily drybrushed, one over black coat, one over nauseating blue. I havn't quite decided on their colours yet, I want to finish two big squads of brothers first, so I can see what seems to match.
And lastly my painfully converted hybrids with grenadelaunchers.
I'd love some C&C and ideas from you. Next up is painting first big squad of brothers, might be done this week if I don't go away to GothCon to watch the swedish championships in wh40k.

See if you can get your buddy to let you cast some copies fo the minis. Silicone casting is not very hard, and very fun!
And while I'm here. Iv'e painted most of my first broodbrother squad, but I got sidetracked by an =I=munda project. No work tomorrow though, so I might get some faces painted during the day.

Inspired by the new Tyranid Codex I've restarted my genestealer cult project. There are some new wonderful units that I need to incorporate. And with the new codex I think I'll manage to create a competent army that looks the part and keep away from the really silly counts-as. My local meta is much more story driven and playing for fun than competitive, but I still like to be able to put up a challenge.
My Brood Brothers (termagaunts) really need a Tervigon. I think I'll make it a rolling podium with banners, speakers and a hybrid agitator on top. If I base it on the Rhino chassi, modded a bit to look like an Adeptus Arbites crowd control vehicle that has been aquired by the cultists. That should give just the right feeling and look, and be a very proper centerpice for the army, besides being awesome ruleswise.
The second unit that I will need is at least one squad of Hive Guards. The most obvious way to illustrate them seems to be a regular IG HW-squad with a ML. A bunch of infantry with a stolen rocket launcher is on one hand quite perfect for the theme of the army. On the other hand it is a bit boring, and I'm still thinking of a way to create something bigger and more captivating.
Similar goes for an IG mortar unit to use with the rules for Biovores. Boring, but oh-so-easy to build.
I still havn't given up on fielding a huge MC. Mabe I can make a mechanical monstrum that could pass for a terrorfex, but that will really have to wait.
I'll go buy a rhino now.

I've created a Mycetic Spore Pod analogy. One short evening of modelling and I had these two wonders to show off: Pic quality courtesy of my Nokia... Front view: Rear vies, including three ninjas worth of hidden exits: The reasoning is that it would be very characterful for the cultists to crawl about in their hidden underground sewers and bases, and use seemingly inconspicious civilian ventilation shafts as exit points. I've showcased the model for a few of my regular opponents, who has agreed that it is entierly suitable as far as size goes. For reference the width of the main tube is slightly less than 2". I plan to pain them in dark metallics and dark brown/grey gravel, so they will match my terrain. I am thinking about adding a few extra details, just to make it even more clear that this is not a terrain piece. Sprayed tags, some sort of banner and maybe a guard with a shotgun is on the possible list. I enjoyed making these a lot, and will probably craft a few more. I've bought a regular SM rhino for the tervigon project and I've assembled all the boring parts of it. I'll get started on some guns and an agitator next time I have time and creativity. I vaguely remember seeing an old beautiful LR conversion that had a gunner leaning out from the side door manually firing the sponson gun. I think I'll look into doing something like that, together with a bunch of people standing on the vehicle. Automatically Appended Next Post: I got an idea and I wanted to write it down before I went to sleep and forgot all about it: Suicide bombers! A civilian model with an explosive harness, a deadman switch and a mindcontrolled facial expression. I prefer blank over crazy screaming heads, but I'll probably use whatever I dig up from my bit box. Explosives will likely be loads of spare grenades, ranging in source from RTB01 SPM grenades up to the latest IG-infantry boxes. (reference: last minutes of the movie Leon) I might build at least one harness using C4-ish blocks of greenstuff, because I'd like to try. Maybe I'll upset people in interesting ways if I use tallarn models? No, I honestly don't want to support that archetype.
I was hit by suicide bombers in 1st edition 40k. IG could have them as a penal legion addition. It was a job that convicts had to volunteer to, and you had a 1/6 chance of the bomb not going off, in wich case you were freed of all charges/sentences and were welcomed back into society. Clever system that...
These will of course be fielded using the rules for Spore Mines. I believe their erratic movement is because their survival instincts fight against the hiveminds orders.

Yeah, you are probably right. I managed to basecoat the cardboard using some slightly more aggressive spray paint than citadels black, and it even seems doable to paint over it. But they don't look too stellar. My next batch I'll try to do in pvc. I should bring that camera the next time I go to build stuff.

I will in the grim distance of the far future do something similiar indeed I was planning to do the suicide bombers as well. I agree though that using Tallarns would take it to far. I'd suggest using whichever guard your opponents play which would take it just right!

Here is my latest force composition. These models will be in playable shape, but not every one completely assembled, on monday. I'll be facing a decent Space Wolves player with a more-fluff-than-power army. Hopefully I'll remember to take some pictures.
HQ 345p, 2kp, 3models, 8w at T6
Patriach on throne, carried by leather clad gimps (HT, old adversary, BS+LW, Scytals) 195p
2x Shield brethren teams with nasty melee weapons (tyrant guards w boneswords) 150p
Elite: 440p, 3kp, 8 models, 6w at T6, 10w at T4
Magus with two acolytes (3x zoanthropes) 180p
3x dug in hybrid heavy weapon teams (hive guards) 150p
2x Rioteers with burning wheels and teargas (venomthropes) 110p
Troops: 729p, 5kp, 44models, 29+ w at T3, 13w at T4, 3w at T5, 6w at T6 (but those are likely to be JotWWed)
18x Gangers and adventurers with assorted awesome weapons (termagants with devourers) 180p
1x Liberated Arbites riot control rhino (tervigon, toxin, adr glands, onslaught) 195p
11x Civilians (termagants) 55p
8x stealers with toxin sacs 136p
6x stealers with toxin sacs, including one broodlord 148p
Sum: 1499p, 10kp, 55 models, 5 (plus what the riot vehicle summons) scoring units, 20 T6 wounds and about 45 weaker.
Theory: Form a wide line with the throned patriarch in the middle and the arbites vehicle at the rear center to lure his runepriest in closer. Front the line with brothers and the magus team. Threaten to use the stealers for outflanking, but probably deploy them with the rest of the army, slightly behind. Advance across the table while disabling transports. Present so many targets that a useful amount will survive a few turns shooting. Take a nasty charge from a LR full of Bloodclaws+IC on an ablative termagant line. Counter charge the semi-deathstar unit with lots of stuff. Probably leave the patriarch out of that counter charge, because Ulric or a "saga of the beast slayer"+ thunder hammer/runic weapon will be in that unit. Then use the patriarch and whatever else still lives and assault his gunline. I expect the Tervigon to die to JotWW, there is about a 60% risk of that happening per shooting phase spent within range. If I manage to apply SitW the risk will be about 33%.
Dawn of war deployment is probably going to hamper me a lot, the others should be just fine. A few objectives would be nice. There is a distinct chance we will be playing one of the new scenarios, since my opponent bought the book a couple of days ago. I have no idea about what to expect then :-) I'm really looking forward to fielding this army, even if it is in a far from completed stage, and against the most horrible of enemies.

Saturday night yielded two venomthrope stand ins that I am very pleased with. I give you ze Doctor and his assistant. These two uses their considerable knowledge of SCIENCE! to brew horrible mutating concoctions to spray over their enemies. Since ze Doctor is wary about his reputation as a shadowy mastermind and arch-heretic, he wouldn't let me take a clear photo of his face.

My Patriarch with gimp-bearers is coming along. I'm going to build a custom base for them, so right now there is a lot of blue- tac.
A shot of the magus Mother Stintia with her acolytes, based white this time. This is a rough sketch of the colours that I consider painting them in.
Here is the army I'll be playing later today. It's looking a bit shambles, what with all the different styles of paintings, or not. But it's nice to be able to field a working 1500p.
Now, time for some violence.

I wish my Stealer-cult army had as many of the classic models as you, unfortunately they are so hard to get a hold of I just ended up converting a bunch of plastic IG with spare genestealer bits. I'll be posting a large batch of pics of the (now completed) army in a couple of days

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

Yeah, I'm lucky to have been around a while. It's a damn shame GW quit their bits service. And I hope I'll manage to do my models justice by my painting.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your conversions.

A draw. *sigh* And a well deserved one as well, for both of us. Capture and control, pitched battle. I won't even bother to write a decent battlereport, I'll just note some things I learned.
I got my phalanx stranded moving about in my deployment zone and playing too carefully. I was disproportionately scared of his deathstar unit (ulric + runepriest + 4 WG termies with T-hammers, in a LR).
The phalanx trick worked really good. ze Doctors defensive grenades and difficult terrain took the edge of a pretty nasty charge from the deathstar. The 9 gangers I put in their way were high on both Preferred Enemy from the patriarch and Poison from the rhino, so they managed to cause two wounds and only lost the combat by three. The countercharge consisted of all the 18 (!) brothers that the liberated rhino had summoned the turn before and the patriarch with his two shield brethrens. The damage caused by that was truly astounding.
The phalanx costed 800p+, it needs all of the key units to work properly and it is very unvieldy. Had my opponent brough some more dakka it would have broken down with the death of the rhino. The parts also works a bit so-so by themselves.
I need more rhinos. They both play great and look great among the hordes of infantry.
The devourer upgrade is useless when your opponent is in transports. Everyone is in transports these days. I'll bring them again when I get some surer ways of deepstriking synapse and tankbreakers. I still think they could be useful dropped together with other stuff.
I could use some more MCs. Terrorfexes made from imperial tanks, or dakkafexes made from sentinels maybe. If the Sisters of battle gets a new codex, there might be plastic penitent engines that can be modded to carnifexes.
Lashwhips are rather useful against wolves, it makes my patriarch strike before nasty ICs.
The most difficult lesson learned: I need more mobility. I'd like some gargoyles. Maybe I can build an underhive jetbike gang, hells angels on jetbikes. That sounds like a lot of awesome conversions. And I could build bigger bikes with sidecars and use as shrikes. WW2 bikes might be a good thing to start with, and the muscular, half-naked, leatherclad guys from the marauder box. That would feel suitably 80's biker gang with a touch of "men only" leather clubs. Suggestions are welcome. NB: suggestions about modelling is what I am primarily after here ;-) My patriarch will get a floating platform, something like what Jabba the Hut might travel on. I might base it on a SPM LS since I don't quite trust my scratchbuilding skills, but I'll look at toystores for jabba-skiffs as well. Some other random ideas I need to save for further consideration: Powerboards (they were awesome in 1st ed), mechanical wings from the old whfb mercenaries army to go with ze doctors steampunk/pulp theme, small floating skiffs, jumppacks, BA-wings, batwings. Ork Deathkoptas as conversion base for shrikes. Maybe get a Valkyrie...
And the most important things I've learned:
The patriarch does look awesome as he sits lazily looking out over the heads of his minions. It is apparent that he is in control. The shielders makes him look even more important. Ghosty, you are absolutely right to be envious of it.
The rhino is of an appropriate size and look for what it does. It needs more loudspeakers and more people climbing on it.
I have to build some impressive bases for my magus and acolytes as well as for the hybrid heavy weapon teams. They look too ordinary now. Ze doctor does not suffer from looking ordinary, although he needs poison clouds and similar.
I need many more brothers, especially if I get more rhinos. It must be very clear who is in what unit. The risk of confusion is quite big right with all my mixed up models.
Next up is some dedicated painting and building bases. Unless I get an "idea" of course.

I did manage to do some concentrated painting. Here is a pic of my first more or less completed squad. These are brood brothers, imperial civilians that have been persuaded by the hivemind to join the crusade for the Emperors Second Ascension. [inquisitorial note: Citicenship suspended pending investigation by Ordo Xenos]
The bases need some more paint, I'm not quite sure what to do about them yet. And tomorrow I'll go looking for some wash to use on the blue areas. Anyhow, I'm quite pleased as it is. They are by far exceeding my standards for table top ready. They are in fact the most ambitious squad I've painted since 2005... I'll be fielding these as hormagants in the upcoming leage, more about that below.
Next up is ze Doctor showing of a fully working prototype of ze wondrous Ikaros-machine. A flying equipment intended for personal use! Here demonstrated by a dimwitted minion in a classical rocketeer-inspired helm. ze Doctor hopes to use these fast minions with huge wingspans to shield his beloved patriarch from harm. He will of course be adding lightveight versions of his patented toxin dispensers to their equipment.
There will be some more cables, straps and modding on this model and it's squadmates. I'm considering shortening the pipe of the lasgun even more. Perhaps removing the las-nozzle completely in order to enhance the look of a lightweight assault gun, although the stock should have stayed. Flying goggles and/or a rebreather crafted from greenstuff could also improve the looks. I'll get arms and guns from a catachan squad and I think the body, legs and helmet from the chaos marauder set looks pretty good when I remove some spikes, horns, fur and skulls. I do btw really love coming up with these pulp-super-villain models. I'm pretty sure there will be more of them coming along. These will, of course, be used with the rules for gargoyles.
And this pic is only to show the wings from a better perspective. The backpack is a very ugly temporary one.
My LFGS is starting a league tomorrow. A very small friendly type of league with a nice goblet/chalice/cup as reward for the winner. The list size is only 600p, wich suits me perfectly since it is restricted to painted models only. At the moment my total amount of painted models are the above 22 brothers, ~20 necromunda models and 18 genestealers. So I figured if I quickly paint up my magus and his two acolytes to something tabletop-worthy I've got a playable list. Then I will use my lust to field new units in the leage as a carrot to get them painted. The FOC is btw: HQ 0-1, Elite 0-1, Troop 1+, Heavy 0-1, Fast 0-2. I have no idea about what scenarios we will play or what other armies I might meet, but I made up this list that at least looks like a small genestealer cult outbreak, and might even work properly. Now I only need to go ask the store manager/league organiser if he thinks genestealer cultists are as cool as I think they are. If not, I'll just play my marines.
Elites:
Magus and two acolytes (=3x zoanthropes) 180p
Troops:
8x genestealers w toxin sacs 136p
8x genestealers w toxin sacs 136p
16x frenzied brood brothers (=hormagaunts) 96p
10x brood brothers with guns (=termagants) 50p
Total: 598p
If it turns out there will be no need to hold objectives I'll probably get rid of the brothers with guns to field 2 small units of frenzied brothers. I might also consider dropping a stealer from each brood to gain some upgrades on the frenzied brothers. I am also allowed to change my list between games, as long as I don't switch codex. I know 600p is a very hard list size to optimize for, but if you have any suggestions on what I should paint/build next I'd be glad to hear them.
It is apparent that I've got loads more enthusiasm and ideas than skill and patience, especially when it comes to painting. So suggestions on how I can improve are very welcome, as is any sort of C&C.

Looking good, I like the insect-like wing type you've gone for; it suits tyranids better then batlike wings IMO.
