Was all caps needed in the title?

And this isnt a rules question. I would have posted this in a general discussion area.

I WOULD GUESS THAT ITS BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT CHAOS & SPACE MARINES BEING IDENTICAL?!?!

Don't haze the guy for having all caps...maybe he suffers from...poor vision? Kind of like people in life suffer from poor hearing?

They would have been put in the codex if you had spelled "shield" right. So it's your fault they don't.

Maybe they weren't created before the Heresy.

Because they traded them in at the Loyalist-Traitor Supply Depot, just beyond Cadia. Somethings they got amazing trades, others not so much.

Point and case:
Assault cannons for reaper autocannons = not win.
Plasma cannons for obliterators = win.

No Landspeeders, no assault cannons, no cyclones, no Assault Termies, no orbital bombardments, no Scouts.
Some distinctions between SM and CSM makes army selection a basic issue.

This is obviously the same supply depot where CSM got their slightly extended back packs

Actually, in the majoritys lust for a cheap jibe at someone over the internet (name yourselves INTERNET HEROS!) you've actually missed a very interesting question.

To the answer which wipes away the question with a simple and stupid answer "Maybe they weren't created before the Heresy".....consider the units which have turned renegade well after the Heresy.

Why do the Red Corsairs wear blatantly chaos warped armour? when most of them have only recently turned to renegade status (which doesn't automatically mean they are possessed by chaos!!) supposedly the marines that joined the Corsairs took with them the equipment they carried into battle as part of their original chapter.....

Yet again, this is another flaw in the almighty GW rules set.....but because you're all to overly concerned with CAPITALS and the obvious internet attack vectors you fail to see it.

I don't know dude, I would assume that they'd have the same gear as Space Marines but I guess not. I posted a similar thread awhile ago asking why Chaos don't get landspeeders.

Would this question exist before codex SM 5th ed?

Maybe not.

Asking for all that got "upgraded" in another codex seems like cherrypickin to me.
Differences are there and will be there until the SM reunite.

Chaos can have storm tremis youhave tu buy Lithningclaws for them then you have CCterminators.

Hammer and shiel aren`t in the Codex so you can`t pick them.

My two cents...

I feel that its odd that selling your soul to a chaos god only give you +1 INV Save while a human made shield generator gives you a 3+ INV Save.

I think that this should be the other way around.
MOT gives you 3+ Inv Save while the Shield gives you 4+.

Now before all you jibjab clowns go "OH NOZ! DAT WUD BEE 2 OVRPOWRD!" im only talking about givin the termies this ability. Any other model still would get +1 as normal.

Superior human tech

Why else should those chaos-blobs want any spaze marine as servant?
If a warp-creature is soo powerful to give 3+ saves, why should demons stick with 5+ saves?

Chaos is change, not creation. So only living creatures can invent or improve.

The answer given in the 2nd edition Chaos Codex was that stuff like Thunder Hammers and Assault Cannons weren't particularly reliable, which is why they were only being introduced into the Legions Astartes near the end of the Great Crusade when the Imperium was consolidating itself, and why renegade Chapters abandoned their use in favour of more reliable equipment.

Standing right behind you...

Dey don't has Hammerz cuz dey dun feel liek it!
Well they do have power maces and assault cannons on the termies but i suppose they would rather see their opponent slowly suffer from wounds of the blade than getting bruised and bashed about, and besides CSM are too offensive and throw their lives away needlessly to be needing shields..

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Seriously though, thunderhammers and Daemonhammers are blessed just like the storm shield and most SM and Inquisition weapons.
That's what I think.

We have a winner! Same reason that CSM don't have razorbacks or land speeders.

In 2ed Chaos, Huron let one unit of Termies take upgrades from the loyalist codex to show that they were only recently turned.

If you want to play a recently turned, and not very chaos-y, renegade force, use the SM Codex. Just give 'em all spikes so it's obvious they're evil.

I never asked myself this question, although I assume Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields are simply more difficult to maintian than Power Swords.

Although, I like this explanation more.

It's because they saw how awesome the 4th edition codex was and couldn't stand for anything that full of the true might of chaos to come from GW. Kind of ironic, since they created the chaos space marines, and now they make them into a laughing stock.
