Okay, people have seen the rules for the AdeptiCon Gladiator, and seen the primer missions for AdeptiCon 2009.
So with that information in hand...what are the predictions about this year's winners.
Historically, the winners have fielded the following:
2003 - Iron Warriors
2004 - Mechanized Imperial Guard
2005 - World Eaters /w An'garath
2006 - Drop Pod Space Marines
2007 - Mechanized Eldar
2008 - Tyranid Stealer Shock /w Trygon
Anyone have bets they want to place?

That 2004 result was a fluke, dammit! 12 rolls, and not a single Siren to be had.... I like Horde orks w/the Big Mek stompa. The silly KFF effect on the stompa is not to be underestimated, Snikrot will almost certainly make an appearance, lootas are still solid, and hordes of boyz are resilient against a lot of things. *edit: while I proposed the Nob bikerz + stompa for discussion a couple months back, I don't think it's the strongest contender. Too many nasty combos out there that can negate their advantages. And I suspect scoring units to be very important in several missions.

I think Gargantuan Squiggoth + Battlewagon Brigade could do well. - I proposed it to my cousin and in his playtest games its gone rather well - pretty much anything the Squiggoth charges is dead, and it has enough guns to give it something to do while it gets there.

I know...I never got a chance to see whether my null-rod equipped inquisitor with a psychic hood and 2 mystics would actually have worked.

I'd like the Ork horde and Stompa against most every list except Daemons with An'Garath. That boy can clean a unit of troops each turn and the rest of the army is no slouch against Orks either.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I'll throw in double Brass Scorpion Chaos - not sure what could stand up to a combined charge + doomsday reactor - especially a chain a la one blows up and sets the other off.

I would hope every self respecting Marine army could be able to take out Kairos in 1 turn. It's not to many points to include an Inquisitor + 2 mystics, a small unit of GK's with 2 psycannons and a Librarian with Nullzone and Gate of Infinity to teleport in LOS of Kairos if he didn't drop close enough to the mystics. That's about 330pts in the marine list of 2250 dedicated to beating Daemons dead.

I think the problem with that is that the rest of the marine army goes down pretty hard to the rest of the daemons.
Playing against marines, you don't really need fateweaver, you can even hold him back until your first wave has eliminated some of the more shooty marine units, and the librarian. Fateweaver is there to ensure that Aangrath trumps anything big.
Of course, at this point, for me at least, it's all theory. I haven't finished painting Aangrath yet, so I'll probably play my first games with the list on April 3rd.

With 45 slots left, and now a crazy situation that actually has me going again, I'm thinking of doing the gladiator myself! No delusions of grandeur, as I'm shackled by what I have available on short notice.
Either Revenant Titan Mech'dar or Squiggoth Orks.

Purely based on matchups, I think an IG Air Cav or a true Eldar Air Cav could pull it off.
Flyers are about the perfect counter to Reavers/Angrath.
Of course, they're also dead meat to loota spam...

If Bill wins, there will be some serious shenanigans going on.

Try pointing this out - you run out of points pretty quick. But the Revenant is a nifty beast, and those pulsars are going to be rough on just about everything.
