I reckon if you went economy you could get 5-6 Skimmers in there - also note that the Renevant would have sonic lances - deathwing would be guarenteed to lose against this list and any other footslogging list will have it hard to. ( 2 wounds on 3+ AP2 Hellstorm templates! Ouch)
I'd try making a list but I can't find my codex, however, this is the base idea:
Revenant w/ Sonic Lances
Farseer on jetbike w/ Doom, Fortune, Spirit Stones
2 squads of 6 Fire Dragons in Falcons
4 squads of 5 DA's in Wave Serpents
Vehicles should be configured for anti-tank/cheapness

Dragon wagon is Fire Dragons in a Falcon or Wave-serpent. They're very good against thing with void shields as they'll be inside that range and 2 Wagons generates 12 Melta Shots+. 8 of those hit and 4-5 will be penetrating a Reaver. It won't nuke it it one turn but it will do serious damage. Against a warhound Its likely a 1-turrn Kill.

Oh, also, You might be able to do 2 6 man Dragon wagons in Wave-serpents, and 2 Fire-prisms, (with Holo-Fields) + a Fortuneseer on jetbike (Revenant is nigh indestructable). You might have to drop 1 DA squad, but the spare points help the Farseer fit in and go towards Bright-lances instead of Shurikencannons on the Wave-serpents.

Fortune doesn't work on superheavies. :(
While the Sonic Lance is a fun weapon, I think you'd have to be nuts not to bring the pulsars - D-weapons are the answer to so many of life's little problems! No cover saves, auto-penetrate vehicles, instant death for the few models left in the game which lack Eternal Warrior....

QFT. The "D" in Strength D literally stands for "Dumb".
1) You are "Dumb" if you don't bring it.
2) You're opponents will think it is "Dumb" when they get hit with it.
3) Anything that ignores so many rules is "Dumb".
4) You're "Dumb" if you think of bringing a super heavy with something else.
5) The other options for superheavies are "Dumb".
Need I go on? On a similar note, all these "Dumb" threads asking about superheavy armament and apocalypse strategies are really silly. The key to apocalypse and superheavies? Load up on Strength D, leave everything else home.

This is why I don't worry that the Nob Bikers list will prevail. No silly cover saves, no goofy wound allocation nonsense, no "feel no pain." Roll your 5+ cybork save, and take 'em off the table. Your Warboss is no harder to kill than a Daemonette.

Well, the Sonic lance is better against:
Horde orks
MEQ's
TEQ's without 3++ saves
90% of 1 wound models
The anti-tank is in the Rest of the list. If you could mix and match then that would be awesome, as Sonic Lance = Pretty much the best anti-infantry weapon ever, and Pulsar = one of the best anti-tank weapons ever.

For most infantry, you don't need to shoot the Revanant at them. Tank shock them (per the rules for Superheavies), and assault them if necessary - Stomp will take care of most targets. Towards end-game, you can Jump on top of a problematic scoring unit, and assault them afterwards. The Revenant's shooting should be concerned by targets that represent a significant threat, such as other superheavies & gargantuan creatures. For those, 4 D-weapon 5" blasts would be a Good Thing (remember, each Pulsar is Heavy 2, and the Revenant has a pair of them); it'll cover the same area as the Cobra's 10" D-cannon blast, but you can spread your shots if needed, or concentrate them when necessary.

No, no, no, no, no and no. Nothing is better than strength D, ever, especially strength D with a blast template. The whole "not having to roll to even wound or save or anything, is better than anything else.

Gladiator is 2250, not 2500.
We ran a poll after AdeptiCon 2008, and the responses we got back from people indicated that 2250 would be preferred over 2500.

Why not do both: spend $100 and play for fun.
"Going for the win" in this event seems pretty futile to me. One bad matchup and you're out of it. And the matchups are nothing more than luck. What if Bill had played against Mech Eldar last year?
Bring what you think is capable of winning if you're lucky enough to get the matchups favourable to your army, but if you're not playing this event for fun, you're in it for the wrong reason.

You know, last year was supposed to be the year of D-Weapons as well. The big problem (or so I saw it last year) with D-weapons was the platforms they came on. Critical failures not only meant you lost the titan/superheavy/whatever, they also essentially meant you lost a good chuck of your force.
I'm still not sold on the Reaver pulling it off this year. Might happen, but I'd bet against it.
Yeah, I kind of planned on Mech Eldar being my achilles heel last year. I had plans in place against nearly everything else, including the armies I faced (dual-lash, multi-monolith Necrons, and Horde Ork Loota Spam) but I simply couldn't come up with a list that I wanted to play that also could stomp on Mech Eldar. In V4, the number of mech-eldar counters was...less than optimal. I did have a plan on what to do against a Mech Eldar army, but I'm definitely glad I didn't have to put it into play.
Of course, Mech Eldar's hallmark wasn't its hitting power, it was its sheer survivability. The flip side of that calculation was that while Mech Eldar could probably avoid losing games, it didn't necessarily the elements needed to win them, at least not by the margins I thought would be necessary. So it was a gamble that Mech Eldar wouldn't be on the top tables in the later rounds, and I could basically pray to not face them in the early rounds.

Pedro
Librarian, Ta, SS, Nullzone, Gate
10 TH/SS termies

10 marines, las, melta
10 marines, las, melta
10 marines, las, melta

What about a vulkan list like this:

3x Ironclad in Drop Pod
3x Tac Squads in Rhinos with MM,Melta
3x LS with MM/HF
2x Pred Destructor
1x StormSword Superheavie ( the one with the volcano cannon)
I want to go but have to make my purchase and go on a painting marathon next weekend, so Im curious if something like this would have a shot or just get eaten alive

I reckon that could quite easily work, though you might suffer against certain armies, such as people who use an Eldar Vampire Raider = with no AA you are very unlikely to bring it down. However, swap one Dakka Pred for a Whirlwind Hyperios and your good to go, with that change you list looks very solid. (you might need to shuffle points around a bit to fit it in, but if you can get it to fit then your pretty competetive. Maybe drop a LS)

Flyers are very nice. They usaully don't have the same amount of firepower as an equal number of points in much anything else though. That coupled with the fact they can't hold/contest table quarters and objectives and their use quickly becomes suspect. I would not make army adjustments for them specifically.

A flyer w/ hover mode and a small troop unit inside becomes scoring, and is very difficult to kill without specialist weapons. The reason I mentioned The VR is that you can stick 8 DA's, 2 Characters and 2 10-man aspect squads inside, and supported by a Few jetbikes and a couple of nightwings It becomes a very fast and dangerous army. Of course, 1 necron player takes a pylon and its all over, but against armies w/ no anti-air its almost guaranteed to win, unless your opponent get lucky and glances you a few times.

Hmmm,
Thats is a good idea about the hyperion, I use the dakka preds for attrition on MCs and for hoards but the big super D pie plate of doom on the shadowsword should help even that out. I was sticking to close to just adding to my standard 1850 list which runs three destructors.
I think that will be a good mix.
Ill suffer against a few armies, but Gladiator is always about matchups.
