If haven't read this series, then stop computing right now, go buy A Game of Thrones right now and then come back. Don't worry, I'll wait.
Tom Meier has done it again. Seriously, the man's work is astounding. I really need to pick this series up.

Very cool. A Song of Ice and Fire is probably my favorite fantasy series right now. I've seen some of the other stuff Dark Sword has been doing (Wildlings, Night's Watch, etc.) and most of it seems pretty good. I do wonder how the 28mm stuff scales up with Warhammer Fantasy and LotR figures though...

If only Mr. Martin would write a bit faster, but yes, this is not only the best fantasy series out there at the moment, IMO, it is one of the all time best series I have ever gotten into from any genre. It is amazing.
Good Mini too!

I've always imagined him with less hair and a bit uglier. This is obviously pre-blackwater.
The site says they're going to make a 28mm version. It'd be interesting to use him as a paymaster for a Dogs of War army.

Last book fell right off the track IMHO.
Martin's too busy with his pet tigers to write and write well anymore me thinx.
Agree that abit uglier and even more fantasy style dwarfish in the face is what i had in mind.

Yeah, he's definitely not ugly enough.
It's a pretty excellent miniature, though.
I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you, Court. The last book was just as good as the rest, and the new characters added an interesting perspective to the series. Of course, Dance of Dragons is where all the good stuff will be, with characters like Danaerys, Jon, and Arya.

What? Jon Snow is Stannis' kid, or Rhaegar's kid by Lyanna Stark? Where did that come up? I don't remember either of those from the 4th book....
Of course it's been how many years since it came out?
Now that you say that though, I'm starting to remember some stuff I think.
Maybe I just need to reread it.

You should! But this is all speculation. I'm sure about him being Rhaegar's child by Lyanna though. If I'm wrong, it's only because GRRM is as stupid as JK Rowling. As IF Harry Potter doesn't become the next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher! Yeah frakking right!

I understand a bit of suspicion, but I wouldn't be too sure, especially with George R. R. Martin.
When I first started A Game of Thrones, I was pretty sure Eddard Stark was the hero of the story.

Touche sir. But really, i's like an M. Night Shamalan (sp.) film. After awhile, the twists BECOME predictable.
He is the second head of the Dragon. Now if I could only figure out who the third was....

That was the great thing about th first book, here's your hero, than he's dead hehe. But it got quite abit drawl after that because you expected it.
One thing i didn't expect was how much i hated the lannister brats at first but by the end of the third book i was even rooting for both of them, thats quite a skill in writing.
And aye Scotty, there's alot in the writing you could see from many differant points of view until it's actually written out for us.

Yeah, GRRM's gift is to make you hate someone and then love them Jaime Lannister being top of my list.

Are you sure the Dragon has three heads? I guess that would make sense, going by the heraldry of House Targaryen. I'm guessing you think Daenerys is the first head? I definitely get the feeling that Daenerys and Jon are going to be playing a major role in the next book.
I wouldn't be too surprised if one of them got killed though.

Yeah, Jaime has become way more sympathetic since the first couple books. I still despise Cersei though (luckily).
Oh, you know who would get my guess for "third head of the dragon," now that I think of it? Tyrion. Not by blood, necessarily, but I'd be willing to bet he'll play a pretty major role in the "end game" of the series. Of course he might just get killed in the next book too.
That is of course, assuming your "three heads of the dragon" theory is correct.
I've heard that George R. R. Martin himself isn't exactly sure how the story is going to go though, until he finishes it.

If he doesn't then he's an idiot. You should never start an epic sotry of this size and not know how you want it to end. It's too big to allow it to be that organic.
The three heads of the Dragon is something that is alluded toin several books. After all it was Aegon I who shows up with his two sisters and conquers Westeros. 3 siblings, three headed dragon on their shield... etc.
There is a lot of symbolism in the books, and once I knew where to look for it, it becomes more obvious. I'm VERY psyched for DWD though, and I LOVED Feast for Crows. I still can't figure out why people didn't like it...

Will never feel for the loose sister hehe.
Almost as soon as Jaime lost his arm i knew, i KNEW he was gonna get a boost in the favourite character category.
Apart from the mains i still prefer the Viper the best, for all chapter he was around before he got tore a new one.

I heard at Origins several years ago that there was supposed to be a skirmish type miniatures game released based on a Song of Ice and Fire, with miniatures by Testor. I even saw some of the minis (they were Night's Watch and Wildlings, I believe), and they were decent.
However, the license agreement with Testor ran out and they hadn't really done anything with it (I think they had maybe one release), and Dark Sword picked up the minis license and starting doing this stuff. It looks like they'll be doing the minis for awhile, but so far there's no word of a new game, and I highly doubt whatever Testor was working on would get resurrected.
George R. R. Martin seems to really like minis though, so if there was a game in the works he'd probably post about it on his blog as soon as he was able to.

Well, I'm pretty sure Martin has notes and stuff and probably a good idea how it's going to end, but I think some of the details are lot more organic...at least that's the impression I've gotten from reading some of his blog posts. I've never met the guy or anything so it's not like I'm privy to any inside info or anything though. I wasn't trying to imply that he's just totally making it up as he goes along (although I would guess there's probably a bit of that, just as part of the whole creative process and changing ideas and stuff like that).
And I thought A Feast for Crows was great, just as good as the others really. It made me want more!

Same!
And I agree, he does wing it to a certain extent. The fact that he had to rewrite an entire book is a good indicator of that.
I'd like to see a cool skirmish game based on the Night's Watch too! Would love to see how it would play.

Yeah, I think it would be cool to see a skirmish game too.
I really like the Night's Watch stuff that Dark Sword is doing. The Wildlings are okay too, but some of them are a bit more cartoony. I think it would be cool to use some of the Night's Watch minis from Dark Sword in a Mordheim warband or something, as long as they scale up decently with GW stuff. The Gold Cloaks would make good generic infantry or mercenaries too.
Here's a link to the rest of the GRRM line.

Yeah, and I know who you mean when you say cartoony.

He looks ridiculous. And the Knight of Flowers is slowed too. I dunno. On the one hand I'm very excited for there, but on the other, they tend towards disappointment.
